Got this while it's free and what can i say ?it's a moog and it sounds fantastic.
The Moog Model 15 App is the first Moog modular synthesizer and synthesis educational tool created exclusively for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Each facet of the Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer has been meticulously recreated in this application to ensure the power and transcendent sound quality of each module remains intact. The character, harmonic complexity and mystique of the Moog Model 15’s modules, from the legendary Moog 921–series oscillators and 904A Low Pass Filter, to the coveted 907 Fixed Filter Bank have been painstakingly preserved.
In order to develop the most immersive and expressive modular interface possible, the Model 15 App has been designed utilizing Apple’s new Metal advanced graphics engine. This ensures that all zooming, panning and modular patching throughout the application feels completely natural, something that would have been impossible otherwise.
The Model 15 App features both monophonic and 4-voice polyphonic operation is easily commanded via 4 seamlessly integrated controllers. Simple swipes and taps provide instant access to a traditional Moog keyboard, 1150 ribbon controller, 8-step sequencing arpeggiator and the award-winning Animoog keyboard with 22 built-in scales and polyphonic modulation capabilities.
Also included are extended features which expand the capabilities of the app beyond the traditional offerings of the hardware Moog Model 15. These include total MIDI integration, assignment for external control, use as a MIDI controller, dedicated Audio Bridge and MIDI Bridge modules, looping recorder module with overdubbing, a master ping-pong delay module and a new extension cabinet that includes additional amplifiers and voltage-controlled reversible attenuators that can be used for effects like ring-modulation.
Because the Model 15 App utilizes Apple’s Metal technology, only 64-bit devices are supported. Compatible devices include iPhone 5s or newer, iPod touch 6 or newer, iPad Air or newer, and the iPad Pro.
The Model 15 App requires iOS version 12.4 or later to work.

You need to launch the stand alone app before the AU UI will work. Sounds good.
Even has poly after touch!
Which I bought full price, £28.99, *yesterday*, after waiting through, literally, *years* of Black Friday sales hoping this expensive but absolutely gorgeous sounding beast would knock a quid or two off. Doh!
The gods of app purchasing clearly hate me. Guess I wait until the day before the IAPs go free to pay full price for them now. Hard to feel bad, because, you know, at least I have it now, and Model 15 is totally awesome. But, you know... Doh! Doh! Doh!
Constant crashes. Every few minutes Logic will report "an AU is causing the system to become unstable, please quit an relaunch logic. "
This needs fixed, until then its worthless.
I never bother to write reviews but this App is fantastic and it sounds completely awesome. Dont hesitate.
Well, does it sound good? ..........Yes I think so. Is it an au instrument?....... Yes. Can you run multiple instances of this au instrument that sounds good? ........No, no you cannot. My iPad isn’t “old” by any any means. This is a fail, but as far as Moog are concerned? Ha! It’s Moog isn’t it? It’s not a Moog, it’s software, and it fails at that. Wasted rubbish
There were some issues for a while on the latest iOS 14.2 but a fix finally resolved all that. Thanks!
A bit disappointed as the tutorials cover only the most basic functions when promotional materials emphasise them as part of a learning tool. Presets and sound are quite nice. Interface is cool but still somewhat clunky.
This is amazing! What an outstanding App, really captures that classic Moog sound.
...am I the only one who can’t find the volume control at the beginning of the tutorial?
(iPhone XS Max)
To put it quite simply, this is amazing, no other App sounds anywhere near as good as this.
utterly amazing ...will keep me busy whilst i save for a real sub37
The sounds are great and the visuals are great.
What more do need it’s a modular polyphonic Moog.
There were some issues with it, but it was Cubasis fault. now the Cubasis team have finally released fixes.
I’ve been using this modular synth for over a year. It is really good. I now like it even more than the model d.
I’m finding this app quite daunting but loving it none the less.once you start figuring out the paths necessary to create your own patches it starts to become a bit clearer .im still far from an expert but I’m really enjoying new experiences with the this app
What else can I say? Everything about the Model 15 is a work of art. Great sounding synths need to be reliable, and great sounding, and have a well designed interface and user interaction. The Moog Model D (and its Model D cousin) get it just right. That growling fat sound is so rich I sometimes play a long note and listen to it for ages.
An example or two of how well conceived and designed this synth app is. Any modular user knows how the cables can get in the way of the controls. But a simple double finger double tap dims the cables so that the underlying controls can be read and accessed.
Also, it’s likely that having plugged in one end of a cable, that your desired connection point is sometimes off screen. No problem! Just scroll with the other finger.
It is little touches like this that other synths often lack which raise the Moog synth apps above so many others.
Been into synths for over 40 years and this is by far the best value for money I have ever brought. Buy it you will not regret it. Cheers Glyn.
The iOS platform has many good synths.but I couldn’t vibe that much with them till I found model 15.the sounds are so rich in mids, highs and lows.i just love it
This sounds wonderful through headphones, and even better through an amp. It’s complex, but that is to be expected- it’s a modular synth after all. I’ve realised that this is going to be a long process, and I’m happy with that. I did find it rather bewildering at first, and I’ve had the app since the day of release, but since buying their Model D app and studying it I’ve begun to appreciate how these instruments work.
I’ll be enjoying this for years to come.
Read all the reviews below. I agree with them all. Just get this app. It is phenomenal. I too have real Moog hardware, the only thing missing here is the smell of warm electronics. Even the control panel has rust spots. I Love it!
The oscillators are raw and brutal, the filter is top notch, and the range of great sounds you can get from this thing is incredible. It sounds analogue. Just scratching the surface ATM, using a korg Nanokontrol and microKey Air to play it. Wonderful.
keys are unusable as they are not fully visible
in landscape the iPhone X notch obscures controls
Model 15 Parameter Automation doesn’t record in BeatMaker 3. It’s fine on other synths like Zeeon etc. Hopefully a fix in an update soon....
A great looking great sounding synth app. One of the best. And it's had an update so we can run it as an AUdio Unit
So why only three stars? Because if I run more than one instance as an AU it immediately crashes even with highest buffer settings
An update for Pro users to enjoy only. Hope Moog provide an update so we can all use it
Forget presets, build and learn at the same time, subtractive synthesis is the initial stages of a learning journey and this app is incredible in sound, performance and a credit to the late man himself, Mr B Moog (an absolute legend). I started with this app, now have a couple of mother 32's, who knows what next, keep up good work guys, and you get this app. Only one negative response is the tutorials should go a little deeper, wiring other modules with hints/tricks, I would prefer to pay a little extra for this than spending money on presets.
So impressed with this synth! It reminds me of similar synths from Reason. Fantastic sound quality and really user friendly. An added bonus is the Ableton Link functionality so it syncs with Ableton Live perfectly.
Model 15 is beautifully designed and beautifully engineered in every way.
The UI is extremely well thought out and a pleasure to use.
It sounds authentically awesome and has great interconnectivity.
Combined with MusicIO or Studiomux and Model 15 is an amazing plugin for Logic Pro.
Wow. Congratulations Moog. Now please make iPolymoog
You'll struggle to find a better sounding synth on iOS - simply amazing
Well recommended, sound quality is amazing for soft synth.
Real Moog synth on iOS has arrived!
Five star app.
Since I updated to 1.1.1, my System 15's UI has gone quite laggy. The arppegiator lights are no longer in time with the arppegiator, turning knobs can be weird because you turn one, and then the UI catches up. The previous version's UI was incredibly responsive (iPad Air) and had no problems at all. That said, it's still an incredible synth.
Not sure what the experience might have been like for other users, but using this app on an iPhone 5s (and assumingly on a IPhone SE) is a bit of a nightmare. The interface is far too small to be able to read it properly and it is hard to patch while zoomed in. The sound is fantastic, but the interface needs to be changed for smaller devices. Multi tab selection per module might have been better.
Running this on an iPad Pro 12" on which it runs flawlessly. Also using a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard which means the screen space is maximised and it's a joy to use. The emulation is excellent. Great job guys.
This is an incredible device emulation. The sound quality is amazing along with great midi implementation that makes it very usable as a sound source plug-in for a computer-based DAW. I've used it with midi over my Wi-Fi network and it is rock solid.
Worth every penny for the limitless sonic possibilities
Great app need I say more I love my moog
EDIT: I originally posted a review of my frustration in audio distortion and latency of this app with my DAW and external sequencer. I was almost ready to give up when Moog Support came to the rescue. After an OS update and changes to the Buffer size, my Model 15 app now works perfectly. Moog Support really went the extra mile in helping me diagnose the issue. They will respond day or night, 7 days a week. Couldn't ask for more when I comes to online support. Thank you G, you were so much help.
Many of the presets use the Animoog style keyboard but Model 15 is unable to send out MPE MIDI. It can read in MPE midi data(say from a seaboard) but use, what is basically a built in MPE controller, then there is no option to send it out to a sequencer. There are already a few other apps that send out MPE, why not Moog?
Not using MPE means you can't record many of the presets without stuttering control data... useless.
I would never buy an analog moog synthesiser but the low cost of the app makes the experience an easy and affordable introduction to electronic music. Simply amazing. Thank you. One issue however, especially for newcomers is that it is impossible to zoom out to see the whole synthesiser and this would be very useful to see at one glance the connections from module to module. Would be a worthwhile update.
Really like this, great emulation and learning tool,as well as being an essential part of the IPad Synth Arsenal. It really comes into its own on the iPad Pro 12.9.Tantalizingly there are some empty rack spaces at the bottom, so I am hoping that Moog might provide a sequencer add on or Module in the future.
This has to be my favourite synth on the iPad and indeed any platform. It sounds and looks fantastic and I always look forward to spending time playing and programming this thing of beauty. The ability to zoom in to see detail and choose cable colours is pure genius!
I look forward to seeing more modules added and some (optional) cable labelling to enable one to quickly see the source/target as they can be off-screen and obscured by cables.
Thank you Moog for creating and frequently updating this superb instrument.
Remarkable if I only had one synth but couldn't afford the hardware version .... this would be it.
Almost faultless! Perhaps a future update could include the facility to set the transparency of the cables in the settings page. Otherwise a superb recreation of an incredible synth.
Also check out iVCS3 another superb recreation of incredible vintage hardware especially if cables are not your thing!
This is simply stunning.
The dogs b****case. Would like the ability to send all mapped control ccs out to be able to use with lemur app.
Worth buying an iPad just for this app.
At last we have an app that gives us an easy and rewarding avenue into a modular classic. The workflow is simple and intuitive. Keeping you focused on creativity, without leading you down a path of endless tweaking. You can get musical results in minutes. (Endless tweaking is also part of the fun). And with a comprehensive selection of presets to give inspiration. I can even see the possibility of having the Model 15 as a part of a live setup on stage. Something that is virtually impossible in reality.
I recently contacted the developers. And got a reply in only a few hours. (Even on a Sunday). This shows the commitment they have to offer a good user experience. A must for iPad music creation. Worth every penny...
I purchased this app to learn more about setting up synths which Moog have obviously thought about as they supply the following to help: 1) Quick start guide 2) User manual 3) Audio Bridge manual and two tutorials to show you a basic setup. Also when you plug a cable into the first socket Moog 15 highlights only the socket which are suitable for connecting to. They also supply four disc of preset sounds one of which is free if you join Face book.
I only gave the app four stars because I have only just started exploring it but Moog have defiantly try to help all types of user. A very good app which works if you are using one of the later iPads and iPhones which are 64 bit. Check the Moog web site and download or read the manual to see more and the spec of the iPad and iPhone needed before purchase.
In the short time I've owned this synth it's become my go-to VSTi. The sounds you can get out of this thing are amazing and I can lose myself for hours, tweaking the knobs with the arp running.
Not much to say as every other people who have own/try this synth out already said as much as what I intend to. I definitely would have no hesistation to grab my wallet if Moog make another soft synth, especially plug in for DAW. Worth every penny I've spent for this synth.
10/10 Would give my money to Moog again.
Sounds deep, complex and musical.
I've got all the major synth apps for the iPad and this is miles superior in sound quality.
Can't wait until they bring out more things for me to buy for it.
Great sound and functionality, the Model 15 works pretty good with iPad mini 2 but has hit a few walls in regards to resources, so can overwhelm the system when using multiple programs or large patches.
A Moog modular synth, made by Moog, that sounds as near as makes no difference as good as the original. For £23 (a bargain when the original hardware is $10,000)!
I've used it each and every day, and I'm yet to come across one issue.
It ticks all the connectivity boxes, and should fit nicely into anyone's iOS music workflow.
As software synths go, few come close to this on any platform, let alone on iOS.
P.S. A special mention to the reviewer Jemmy1955, the in app purchases are accessible via the "Store" button in the top-right of the screen. Maybe you should look a bit harder before giving a three star review just for that reason!
I've bought the app and I like it but the in app purchases seem to be non existent. They are showing on the App Store, but there isn't any way to buy and download them, so although I'm happy with what I've got, it seems there's nothing to expand. I never had this problem with Animoog.
This is an incredible synth, the design, the sound, everything has been thought of to the finest detail. It's even polyphonic . Programming is simple if you understand modular synthesis and the results will blow your mind. If you aren't familiar with programming synths the presets are excellent and there's some very helpful tutorials, very well implemented.
I own moog hardware and this is an incredible emulation, it's fat sound and liquid filter sound so real you wouldn't know from hearing it that it wasn't a hardware moog beast.
It would be great if it could be expanded with extra patchable modules, like Moogerfoogers, but that's just me being greedy ;).
This also runs great on iPhone SE, having a Moog modular in your pocket is an amazing thing.
I think this app is as perfect as it can be and an absolute bargain to boot.
Fantastic app, my only wish is that it would run on older devices such as the iPad 4. Would happily take a reduction in sound quality!
...if not on any platform. Certainly, I struggle to think of any desktop software analog emulation that sounds as wonderful as this.
I'd describe it, overall, as "musical", with alias-free raw waveforms and a smooth filter. It's capable of extreme low-end as well as (thanks to the basic, but very useful, delay module) deep, rich pads & strings.
Moog have also put great thought into easing novices into modular synthesis, with a couple of tutorials and an in-depth-yet-clear manual. You may initially find yourself a little overwhelmed by the options but the superbly designed, responsive GUI and excitement of suddenly understand how one module affects another becomes a satisfying and addictive experience.
Add to that the inclusion of Link & IAA sync, MIDI, the handy Audiobridge & MIDIbridge modules, a versatile arp, the return of Animoog's brilliant keyboard.....Model 15 is just so fully-featured and such a clear labour of love that £23 is really an absolute bargain for what you get, and it marks a huge leap forward for using iOS devices as serious studio tools!
I've never programmed before and never used patch cables. But I have Animoog and Filtertron and was so impressed with these that I took a deep breath and dived in. Within an hour I'd made patched my first preset. It's not brilliant but it's a start.
So for many, this instrument will open up worlds of possibilities and educate along the way. And, yes, the quality of the graphics are great and the sound is immense. Definitely worth the money. I have a Moog!!!!
Ok it's not cheap and the interface is a bit cramped (even on an iPad mini) but this is simply excellent. Great to use it on the road as a creative instrument, I have a Moog Voyager and whilst this is no replacement for hardware it both sounds and looks fantastic, and for 20-odd bucks it's a steal. Love it.
I'll be picky and fault it...I wish it was Audio Unit compatible. I guess it hammers the CPU so not much could run it as an AU, but it'd be a signal of intent. Otherwise this is a fantastic iOS synth, possibly the finest. The sound is first class, the control options are great, it has a wide range of presets and plenty of them, the add on packs are good too, and I've not even scratched programming it yet. Moog seem to add an extra level of quality to their soft synths that others can't get to. Seems expensive for iOS but it's a hell of an instrument. Perfect if you are looking for something a bit different or vintage sounding.
Very high quality and does as advertised, however I do have a couple of criticisms -
1) there's no drift on the oscillators (can be desirable in some situations but would be nice to add a slop knob to fatten the sound maybe?)
2) doesn't sound as big as the real thing (compared to my Sub 37 anyway, but to be fair no soft synth will ever sound as big as analog)
3) slightly expensive (but I've bought other Moog apps very cheaply so not a big complaint, also the quality of the app shines through, and how much would it cost to get a real one set up to play polyphonically?)
4) needs more tutorials, as a lot of the terminology on the labels is different to that of a modern synth. Maybe they could add a more updated skin as an alternative?
5) eats through your battery very quickly
However, on the plus side -
1) it's definitely the best app for building a patch when you've got a spare couple of minutes
2) I get great performance even on my 5S (although the screen is frustratingly small 😭)
3) 3D Touch supported for aftertouch (wish I had it!)
4) Polyphonic aftertouch
5) stating the obvious, but it's a polyphonic modular Moog in your pocket! How cool is that?
On the whole, I do highly recommend it, it's my new favourite iOS synth, and it's perfect if you're looking to dip your toes into the modular world.
(As a non musician)This is totally worth the money. Fantastic. Can get lost for hours using it and have barely scraped the surface of the app.
Have to say that I love this App, no size issues on my iPhone 6 Plus and runs silky smooth. If you have the Arturia Moog Modular soft synth this should be a breeze, and the Animoog keys add a unique dimension - I'm only a few hours in to this and definitely recommend it.
I'm not sure why, but this sounds better than my Elektron Analog Four and Minitaur combined!?! I'm sure I've committed analog heresy saying that, but listen to that fat buttery sound! A perfect companion to imini and Animoog. If anyone complains about the price I will scream! Just shut up and download it now!
It's just arrived, I'm only scratching the surface, in fact I'm only listening to it right now through my iPad Pro's speakers! But even though, it's absolutely clear that the incredible timbral possibilities that sounds so natural and seductive combined with such a beautiful and unparalleled flexible interface makes this the most interesting and powerful analog synth emulator on iOS. I can't wait to use it in my next gig.
