Very good

Version 4.23.0
I found this app while I was going through a plateau and was not motivated to keep exercising. After the free trials, I decided to try the monthly subscription and can say I’m very happy with that decision. There’s quite a few ways to customise your workout, can set the duration, choose available equipment and replace exercises you don’t enjoy. Really enjoying this app so here’s my recommendations for future updates:
Set weigh limit: I exercise at home and have some equipment available but can’t always increase the weigh unless i buy more equipment. Would be nice to be able to set max weight for each equipment and have the algorithm recommend other exercises or give tips on how to make it harder with what’s available.
Exercise preference and or skills: would be nice to tag an exercise so that you get it more often, this goes in hand with practicing a skill eg handstand. This would force the algorithm to include this in the relevant workouts.
Surprise exercise: it’s true that the exercise recommended will get repetitive after some time, would be entertaining to be able to quickly generate a fun/surprise exercise where you just try other exercises for that session. <~ that’s ofc a lower priority than the rest.
Kudos to the team though, pretty sure this is the only workout app I’ve tried that I’ve kept for longer than a week and use regularly.

The app I’ve been waiting for

Version 4.23.0
I’ve had brief flings with lifting apps before, but they never worked. Either they were too basic, required too much time to build workouts, were not customizable enough, or were a pain to log reps in the gym. Usually all of the above. So I stuck with the notes app for years.
Fitbod has been game-changing for me. After a week of use, it started consistently generating a challenging workout every time. It’s infinitely customizable where I need it to be. And it’s easy to mash the big orange button to log a set (though it could still be bigger!). Most importantly, it generates workouts based on what I have available at the gym (or these days, at home). Absolutely amazing and well worth the yearly subscription price.

Great app

Version 4.23.0
Great app for a beginner like me. Just wish I could find out how to log each round rather than each set individually. Need a log all button (I bet there is one but I can’t find it)

Transformed my life

Version 4.23.0
I have like many made decisions to change my life and Fitbod has been instrumental in that. The key thing for me is it’s simple and you can have as much variation as you want and track your progress. I’ve been using it for 4 months, changed my diet and stopped drinking and I’m
So chuffed I got recommended this app. I can’t recommend it enough.

Keeps improving but always room for tweaks

Version 4.22.1
Addition of dumbell weight increments in home gym setup has been really handy. Perhaps having a separate *single weight* value would be helpful though - so for people with adjustable weights, you’d have the option to put more on a single dumbell and use much higher weights for concentration curls than for hammer curls for example. You’d want to ensure single weight exercises didn’t mingle with doubles in a set though.
I’d like to see similar modifiers for other equipment too - eg I own loop bands but not the sort of installed framework that I can hook them around so those exercises could be limited to things I can do without that - loop band push ups, shoulder squeezes etc.
One other thing I’d like to see added would be to bring the workout schedule (days of the week) out of the app settings and into the workout settings. Also be good to highlight chosen workout days along the top in the log view too.

Making me work(out)

Version 4.21.0
I’ve been using Fitbod for about three months. I’ve previously worked out with weight training plans and another app. The AI is really good at recommending what weight to use, which stops you from getting in a rut and being too ambitious. It’s easy to customise the workouts and change the exercises if you want.
My only gripe is that it logs my runs repeatedly, so today I apparently did the same run three times. It might be my fault but I can’t find anything in the help section.

Great app but..

Version 4.21.0
I have been using the app for a couple of weeks and it’s been great so far, my only gripe would be that I use bands to workout, and I think it would be nice if when logging the weight on each set I could input multiple bands in the drop down menu as at the moment it only allows you to put one colour.
Otherwise i would give it 5 stars

It has me working for sure

Good quality INDEPENDENT Watch App

Version 4.21.0
The day you create a good quality INDEPENDENT apple watch app, in which one can leave the iPhone or can start a session without having to touch and fiddle with iPhone - I will consider Fitbod

Loooooooove this app! 100 stars

Version 4.21.0
This app is the best! It pushes you hard but I'm already getting stronger and losing weight. Highly recommended

Version 4.20.1
Good app for smashing them gains on the lockdown innit

100% get this

Was so easy to make workout plans, it does it all for you.

Great App, few improvements needed!

Version 4.20.1
This is a great app as it feels like your own personal trainer. It allows you to focus on the workout while it works out progression and routines.
The two things that would make it perfect is having active calories tracked instead of just overall calories with the Apple Watch and also being able to add effort ratings straight from an Apple Watch.
Overall would recommend to give the trail a go and see if it fits your routine.

Version 4.20.0
Tremendous app. Solves all the problems for beginners. Suggests and varies routine daily , adapts to your objectives and remembers previous weights lifted. I wouldn’t know what to do without it!

Love This Workout App

Version 4.9
I’ve had this app for just over a year and I love it. I’ve been working out for years and have had personal trainers off and on, I wish I would have had this app ages ago. I tell everyone about it and don’t see me ever not using it. It has everything you need. Stop reading reviews and just download this. You won’t regret it. 😀

The only app I’m truly willing to pay for without doubts!

Version 4.15.0
I’ve been using Fitbod since Jan 2020 and I instantly fell in love with it - it gave me more confidence to try new machines at the gym, and feel less intimidated in the weight section.
Overtime my body has toned up, muscles have started to show and my physical and mental health have improved.
Everyday I look forward for a new session!

Version 4.6.1
Going down to one star second time in a row negative calories. Still no response from support. 19/1 workout managed to log a 45 min workout as minus 4 Cals in apple health. Watch app and phone app often get out of sync. Especially in rest timing between sets.
Really sloppy programming. They have my money so I’ll persevere - but I’d look at other apps before you drop your cash.

Best in Category

Version 4.5.3
Easily the best app for creating and tracking your workouts. The ability to easily see which muscles are the most rested as well as clear indications of which exercises work which muscle groups are outstanding features.

Love it

Version 3.22
This app is what I’ve been searching for. It is my personal trainer on my phone. Every workout is different (I get bored really easily), it shows me video clips of what the exercise looks like, shows my progress, syncs to my Fitbit and allows me to customise workouts by telling the app what equipment I have access to. It couldn’t be better 👍

Just Get It

Version 4.11.0
I downloaded FitBod at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic back in March 2020 and now, almost a year later, it has completely changed my life. Just get it. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

Brilliant app!

Version 3.22.1
This was the app I’ve been looking for all these years. Tried a few others before picking Fitbod, I find that it’s perfect for measuring muscular progressive overload which is vital for gradual but steady muscle growth. Also the timings between sets etc are excellent. The app measures progress very well to increase the challenge week to week but you have to be honest with yourself regarding how hard an exercise was before inputting into the app. I’ve already seen more gains using this app in a month than a decade of training erratically without a plan. I also like that it varies exercises and keeps mobility exercises up which have been essential to my progression. I’ll certainly recommend this app when people ask me to give them tips on training which I’m sure will happen soon when they see my results!

You got equipment? You go to a Gym? Buy this app

Version 4.19.0
If you own your equipment or go to the gym this app is a must have. On most visits to the gym you will find many wondering aimlessly around wondering what exercise to do next, I have also been one of those gym users. With COVID-19 paying us a visit in 2020 I decided with my wife to invest in our own equipment and this app is the perfect partner for home or commercial gym. You tell the app what equipment you have and this could range from a dumbbell/kettlebell to a more complex setup of bars and benches. The app will dynamically create you a work out for YOUR equipment and will keep adjust each day to vary the workouts. This I like as the app takes into account recover. This app does what no other app does and that’s tailored workouts for YOU and YOUR equipment. I’ve seen so many other apps plan workouts for equipment you don’t have. I could ramble on and on about this app I really believe it deserves a number one title and is THE ULTIMATE Fitness app and fairly priced. I would say the way it works is even better than a personal trainer, although I’m sure many will disagree with that comment. Just try it and before long you will see what I mean.

Version 4.19.0
Must have tried every app out there. This is perfect. The subscription is totally worth it, because it allows you to have a guided home workout, with whatever kit you have, for a fraction of the price of gym membership or a trainer.
The way it cycles muscle groups without you having to think about it is great, and the fact it adjusts the reps/etc it plans based on your feedback and performance makes it perfect. Similarly, the fact you can easily readjust your goals or target areas is super useful, and obvs it will reflect the kit you decide the invest money in, so that in itself makes those investments immediately pay off.
Interface in workouts can take a little getting used to, but not much

The perfect app for me.

Version 4.12.0
I love this app, it has everything I could want from a work out app. The app plans everything for you, taking the drudgery out of it. The equipment list is extensive. It makes everything so easy Id there’s an exercise I don’t like or can’t do I can easily switch it out for another one. I really feel like finally I am making progress with my fitness and I’m actually enjoying it.

Great App

Version 4.16.0
It is a great app and keeps you motivated by creating a different workout every time and still focussing on you personal priorities.
I wouldn’t pay the full price as I have to budget. But google discount codes, buy it in dollars and I got a years subscription for £27. Bargain.

Simply the best gym app

Version 4.5.1
Nothing more to say, it’s awesome for fitness, motivation and not having to think

Game changer

Running McRun Face
Version 4.8.1
This app is a game changer.
-Able to enter precisely what equipment I have access to, down to the weight of the individual DBs!
-Really easy to switch in or out exercises.
-Alternates between fatigued and rested muscle groups throughout the week.
-video and instructions of each exercise
-clever circuits and supersets with a timer for rests

Great app

D Dog1w
Version 4.11.2
Great way to break out of gym tedium

Wildly over-rated

Version 4.5
Could be great, but so many short-comings make this far from good.
I snapped up a discounted subscription on a Black Friday sale; on the basis of good reviews but without having trialled the app first - my mistake, and I wish I hadn’t. Waste of money for my purposes.
The app has various ‘Fitness Goal’ settings (eg muscle tone, general fitness, body building, etc) and a very impressive list of kit you can select to use in your gym (free weights, weight machines, TRX, cardio, etc).
I think it works well for strength/weight training, but it is utter rubbish for anyone looking for anything more HIIT related.
There are no voice prompts and exercise videos are not shown on your phone/Apple TV during the workout. So unless you memorise the routine in advance you are constantly having to look at your phone/watch to know what to do next. Further more, you also have to constantly faff around on your phone/watch to log detail about each exercise in order to progress through your session - which really interrupts your flow when trying to keep up the intensity. Unlike other apps (eg NTC) where you just hit play and let the session run (with videos and voice prompts); or at most have to tap your phone/watch once to move on (when rep based).
There are settings which attempt to accommodate HIIT types of workout, but they don’t work well. Seems to me that the app was originally designed for weight training (where it generally works ok - as the intensity is lower, with more recovery slots when you do then want to then properly record reps, weights, time, etc). I’m guessing the app then tried to broaden its net to be all things to everyone - but fell wildly short.
Add to that, there are really limited automated warm-up and cool down routines, etc., for all types of routine - HIIT and weight sessions; it does suggest some basic foam rolling, stretches and the like - but you are better off manually adding in your own warm-ups and cool-downs (which does undermine one of the apps key selling points of auto generating complete work-out sessions).
Going forward I will use it for weight training sessions, and where I simply load up all my own self programmed routines. I will not use it’s auto created workouts; and I will not use it for any other type of workout.
Instead, I will continue to use a range of other workout apps, and that will completely ruin the other main selling points of the app, ie that it tries to track muscle usage/recovery and design workouts accordingly. It won’t be able to do this, as it won’t ‘see’ my other app based workouts (it only to syncs with basic workouts logged via other apps, like running or cycling, but nothing multi-functional).
So in short, only buy this if you a) plan on using it for weight training only, b) you don’t mind having to manually create (or adapt workouts), to at least include more effective warm-ups/cool-downs, and c) you aren’t planning on using other apps for different workouts, or, you don’t mind Fitbods muscle recovery and auto work-out programme not really working.

Great features, could be improved

Version 4.3.1
I think this app is absolutely amazing with the timer option for circuits, hundreds of exercises, and very useful support and videos. Building a workout is fun and inspiring once you get the hang of the UX. I even like the emails and blog posts! I am stuck working out at home with limited equipment and the app feels like a daily personal trainer.
My critique is that the workout generator is getting boring as hell after thirty days of use. Every day I get the same three different push ups. Why would I want to do three varieties of push up in a row every day? I like creating my own workout too but I would be so much happier if the AI or algorithm was more varied so I could learn new moves. Or maybe the AI could notice when I’m always swapping the pike push-up for downward dog push up. I don’t want to do superman anymore. Set me free!!!
I also think the blog post workouts should be automatically loaded onto the app as templates, and that more exercises could be added for resistance bands, thigh bands, Pilates ball, and balance exercises. Add a few more isolating muscle groups like obliques and include workout generator categories for balance exercises and dynamic stretch exercises.

The perfect gym app

Version 4.4
I have struggled on and off with going to the gym and was devastated when Covid hit as I really couldn’t find a solution to exercising. Fitbod came to the rescue suggesting only body weight exercises which I found both challenging and fun.
I love the fact it tackles muscle recovery, suggests plans that you can customise and the UX and UI is really well built.
I lost 12 kgs in 3 months and am super excited to a fitness lifestyle and being a lifelong customer.

I love it

Version 4.1.1
In less words !phenomenal!

Best workout app I've used

Version 4.7.0
IMO it's worth the money; you can tell the app what equipment you have then it generates a workout which is really cool. It also learns from what weight/reps you can do as well which is nice.
Only four stars for a couple reasons. One is that sometimes it does something completely ridiculous like today it told me to do wall sit with 110kg on my lap! Unweighted or maybe 10kg or something would be difficult for me. Also the normalise weights for set option never seems to work.

Lost ALL my data

Version 4.13.0
Following up on my review.
Again I’d created new custom workouts including max effort days, went to create a new workout today to find they’ve all changed to standard non-max effort workouts.
I’ve wasted a lot of time with this app, back to pencil and paper - it’s more reliable and stable!! Not going to be renewing my Elite subscription, simply not worth it.
I had to replace my iPhone and installed the App. Upon trying to sign back into Fitbod, password isn’t working. So try to reset it. No reset email comes through so I can’t actually sign back in and have to create a new profile.
All my workouts, all my custom gym settings, everything. Gone.
What a waste of money and time.
Focuses on fancy AI and UI, but can’t get the basics right. Ridiculous.

From skin and bone to lean and grown.

SEMP 420
Version 4.10.0
My goal was to gain weight and bulk up like most thin people.
The easy part for me is the diet of consuming around 6k calories a day. Hard gainer, fast metabolism, so I have to eat a lot. Gaining weight is difficult and expensive when you’re used to living off a £3 Tesco meal deal for lunch every day. The hard part was the effort required for working out and knowing what to do.
This app made it easy for me. Quite simply, I don’t like going to public gyms. So I decided to create my own gym at home. Using the app to choose what I have available to use for exercises is great. I choose a full body workout and the app creates the workout exercises to do in easy to follow stages. If I don’t know how to do a certain exercise the app shows you a demonstration by video and explains in text exactly how to do it.
The app starts off free. But after using it a couple times and being pleased with what I achieved and the results, I’m happy to pay for the continued use of the app to keep learning and growing.
So after 6 months, at 6ft 2” starting weight 10 stone (very thin) I gained just over 2 stone which is 12.7kg or 28lbs. Eating a lot to and working out 2 times a week.

Not a review sorry

0131 come help my mum
Version 4.2
Can i use this app for the next couple of months (for example) every week for 8 months ?

Pretty good!

Version 4.7.1
I pay to use this. Just renewed my annual. Great way to keep track. I don’t actually use the generated workouts due to equipment limitations and just preference. I it criticism is that the app doesn’t appear to be evolving and improving

Amazing but!

Version 4.1
This is truly one amazing app for anyone looking to get in shape. Very well thought out and put together. Wish I could afford to keep it going, overall I’d give it a 10/10

Maybe is me

Version 4.15.1
I find the app a bit confused, too much going on, I will give a go to see if I start to understand it

Version 4.18.2
Used this app for over 18 months now. takes you through early stage learning different resistance exercises. Works out muscle groups that are rested . Calculates RM. works out reps and weigh for strength, stamina and hypertrophy. Also profiles for work home or gym depending on what equipment is available - no downsides at all - a perfect app?

Keeps deleting your workout history

Live Love
Version 3.24.1
Can’t keep track of my workout with this bug. Sadly.

Amazing app!

Version 4.14.0
I never knew what to do at the gym or where to start my workouts, this app is like a personal trainer that lets you do everything in your own time

Version 4.5.2
The app works perfectly for me. I’m using it exclusively for weight lifting, muscle development.
Clean interface, simple planning, reminder notifications, low monthly cost (after 3 free workouts).

Version 4.17.0
I’ve got a small home gym with barbells, dumbbells a squat rack and a bench. I’ve input this into Fitbod and the app produces awesome motivational workouts.
The “Streak” function is another motivator to hit the gym.
This app is a key component to my gym workouts!

Apple Watch sync is shocking

Version 4.4.2
Always freezes when using watch and losing records. NOT HAPPY

Great app

Excellent app for workout with body weight, equipment and other stuffs. Perfect app. Highly recommended.

Love how it makes my workout interesting

Someday maybe
Great app with a variety of workouts so you don’t get bored and can still be confident you are working your whole body

Excellent app. But- the timer is mad. It’ll leap ahead and say I’ve been exercising for 3 hours when I’d been going for one. Not great for tracking consistency of training. Please fix!

Simple, smart and spot on

Probably the best fitness app I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot.
I’m about 12 years in to going to the gym and would count myself as pretty advanced, the app is brilliant.
Easily tracks everything you do, tells you 1rpm, your best lifts, when you last worked a certain muscle. Suggests workouts or exercises. Possibly the best bit for me Too is it populates with suggested reps and weight based on previous workouts and your goal. So shakes doing “the same old workout”.
Highly recommend, easy to use, but has a lot more functions than even on the surface.
