It’s Ok

The app is OK but seems expensive for what I can get just as easily off the website. There are some errors and confusion, e.g. beef rendang overview mentions , kerisik, as rice powder but seems to be coconut powder further on. It’s useful and the recipes are good but for the price I was expecting something more.

Rubbish 😡

When you read the app description, it implies that there are recipes for free - unfortunately this is not the case, you can’t see anything unless you pay 😡😡. The app has been deleted now

It took a while…but I got there!

I gave up the first day I tried to down load the app! Then when I purchased the access - then it took me about 8 attempts to load the app! I have it now and it is great! Can’t wait until I start using it!

CONSTANTLY DOWN LOADING IMAGES

Well, all I can say is i persevered with this app but sadly enough is enough. From the get go the app takes for ever to “download images” to the scale of 5-10mins! It is not my download speed; i am sporting 500GB download speeds and no other app takes this long. Its not the phone or iOS; i have tried on iPhone 12 Pro, 14 Pro and now a 16 Pro Max, all with up to date iOSs installed. If i do wait the 5-10mins then i am faced with have i got a subscription….on answering yes i am then faced with…..you guessed it…..more “downloading images”. This time they take from 15-mins up to…..i cannot be bothered to continue to download its taking so long. Sadly after what seems like several years i just can’t be bothered with this app. The only positive side was their customer support was quick to respond but sadly they were unable to rectify this app for me. So that’s it; i place this app in the B-One-N!

You can spend hours just reading them
Or crack open a beer and make one
I made the Chinese chicken curry as it’s my favourite curry thinking it would never be as good as the takeaway - it was way better
I have all the books but this app is a shelf saver

Very difficult to find a Recipe on this app!

I followed the link from Facebook for cheese stuffed meatballs, tried to print the recipe but it wouldn’t work, so downloaded the app and was looking forward to using, I’ve searched 3 recipes so far and apart from loads of info about the food, I’ve failed to actually find a single recipe. I’m not young but have been using apps for years and never had a problem before 🤷‍♀️

Recipes on app

I’ve just downloaded this app thinking the recipes were free but appears you need to purchase the recipes which I’m not doing. Disappointing considering I can find some from the curry guy on google for free

I was studying Indian restaurant recipes for a couple of months, that’s when I found you. Got your bible now and it’s great.
I always play with recipes which is the wonder of Indian cookery 😊

I’ve had this app now for many many years now and it’s great to see the recipes getting updated.

Genius!!

Been a hardened BIR addict for over 30 years... spent most of that time trying to work out how it’s done.. no need anymore.. this guys cracked it!! Amazing results every time :) got all the books too.. I may ask him to marry me haha (I’m a bloke)

Excellent

I bought this app primarily for the garlic chilli chicken recipe as it’s my go to meal when I visit a curry house. It did not disappoint, in fact my first effort tasted way better that some I’ve had in restaurants! Subsequent efforts have been even better.
My goal now is to work through every one.
If you love BIR then this app is perfect.
One suggestion - a link supplied to where you can buy spices as not all of us are blessed with Asian supermarkets close at hand.

Great curry app

I love this app and is my go-to place for curry recipes. I highly recommend you take the time to make the base curry sauces and spices mixes.
The food you cook will be sublime, believe me.
I just wish that new recipes were added on a regular basis.

Great app but need yo be updated

Urgent updates are in need before purchasing the app as a lot of recipes are not to be found that i like. Many of the popular items and more typical recipes are found. Such as chicken korma but no saag balti dishes. It tastes great but would greatly appreciate if a recommended place to get the spices as some are not easily sourced as some items are very specific for the dish and sometimes make it bland. I found that making chicken tikka masala the method needs revising as i found spelling mistakes and missed ingredients in the method. But i do recommend the app to an amateur cook like me.

Years of experience and experimentation for a small price!

This is the first review I have ever got the motivation to actually write! I felt I had to after spending some time working my way through the basic recipes.
The app itself is basic but effective. It could be more comprehensive if there were videos created for each recipe, it would certainly help in the step by step process. I’m guessing most of these would exist already on the YouTube channel. This and maybe some background on pantry items, equipment used and tips & tricks would take this app to a whole other level.
All that being said I can only rate this app 5 stars. Purely for the Curry Guy providing so much quality and easy to understand information and instruction on Indian cooking. The amount of passion, knowledge and experience shows through and allows a very amateur home cook to create real quality BIR dishes. I am from the UK but moved to Namibia in Africa 8 years ago. The craving for a decent curry drove me crazy for years. These recipes have enabled me to create the type of curry I never thought I could make myself at home. I am still keen to get a hard copy of the book at some point as the app currently is not as comprehensive, but thank you for putting it out there and inspiring home cooks to produce real quality dishes!

I would go so far as to say I’m a curry connoisseur. I’ve travelled the Uk sampling the best curries across the country.
This app really does help in creating authentic Indian and Pakistani takeaway curries. Too stuff.

Top curry shop app

Been using this app for about 2 years now. I’ve tried almost every curry on here and they are all fantastic! All the sundries on here are great and tase way better than shop bought. And dare I say it better than a lot of curry houses. Would like to see a few more recipes added.

Comprehensive Indian Curry App.

This is a great app in as much that the instructions and pictures are really useful for the novice chef - as are, the loads of recipes that are on offer . It would be nice however if your app could be used in 'landscape' instead of 'portrait'. An iPad needs to be used in 'landcape' - because it is so awkward without this option - esp. when cooking ! ( does anyone use their iPad in 'portrait' - no never ! ) please see to it......!!!!

Very good !

Very good app and very easy to use! The madras is perfect :) .. Now have tried the tikka masala too and just as the takeaways again. Found a balti recipe on another website from him as wasn't on app. Again top notch ! Highly recommended.

Brilliant Curries

I normally cook Indian and Thai meals from scratch, to distinguish them from "curries", which are pre cooked food same as you buy in restaurants.
However, I still enjoy "curries" and this is the best source of them that I have found. Excellent.
P.S. Great for breads and side dishes, as well

Fantastic First Meal

I have just cooked my first meal from this app and it was brilliant. I cooked chicken jalfrezi but did it with tandoori chicken tikka on the bbq.
The recipes are authentic and the app is perfectly easy to use. I can't wait to try more recipes.

What a great app

App is very user friendly. I've cooked authentic and restaurant style curries for many years and I was so very impressed with the recipes so I did an upgrade right away. Very good value for money.
Recipes are well laid out and the method is pretty much foolproof.
If curry is your thing, then don't hesitate, get it now and you will be regularly eating delicious curries.

Having the ingredients, method and step by step instructions makes following the recipes a breeze. Great support offered from the owner via email. The upgrade is well worth the investment if you like authentic takeaway curry!

No ingredience

Shame, it worked for a day so purchased full app. Only to find no recipe has full ingredience and some have non at all. Pity it would be great if it worked.

Very poor app, was so looking forward to this app

Unless you pay for the recipe you don't see all the ingredients or the method, apps like this should not be allowed in the App Store.

Mistakes

I've got the book - which has different ingredients for the same dishes - but the App has mistakes in it all the way through ie. When one of the ingredients is cream, it tells you to add tomato paste ( having already added it - and doesn't mention adding the cream ) there's a number like this - needs checking by the author !!!!
