Tried to send money, transaction “failed” but the money still left my account, receiver received nothing and now nearly a week later I still haven’t got my money back, was told on Monday id have it back by Wednesday, called again today and now told Friday lol I will be contacting the financial ombudsman if the money isn’t returned by Monday coming and either way I will never ever dare using western union ever again you shameless con artists

Having Problems with WU
I have been having problems with WU sending money from the app for months. I change my credit card and it works like a dream. My niece in Jamaica is in need and it gets through no problem. Now we can communicate again. Amazing!

Criminals
I verified my account to send a large transfer. I completed the process via video as requested. I sent the money to make the transfer and after they request more documents which I sent 3 times via email. They continue to say they haven’t received my documents and are holding my money. They lie on the phone telling the transfer is complete. I have spent a lot of money calling them and so far achieved nothing. Still not releasing the money. Avoid at all costs. I will never use these criminals again.

I use WU APP to make transfers to family in Latin America. Once the security validation is complete it is easy to setup transfer details to both local pickup and local bank accounts.

After many problems trying to send money for many hours into the early morning Uk time and speaking to 3 of your colleagues with lengthy phone calls who did their best to help me I eventually had to change to a new payment card today and drive 15 miles each way to my bank even though my existing card was still in date till 04/24. However all is fine now and please advise how to delete the old cards to avoid further confusion. Thanks.

Slow and laggy even with amazing WiFi
Did it today there was technical difficulty during a sending 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️so you panic if you’ve been charged or if your family gets it or not. Also issue with this app. Lost some money with it too and they lost it somewhere. Anyway work on the lag and the slowness of the actual app process. One more if you decide to leave the app while doing something during sending it’ll just stay on the circular loading screen FOREVER

Absolutely useless, can’t think of one time when I haven’t had any issues with western union money transactions, spend hours on the phone trying to get to someone and then they tell you there is nothing they can do. Been told the sender has to call them and revoke a pending transaction to release the money, sender called them and was told they can’t do anything from his end cause transaction is blocked with a different member of staff who they do not have access to communicate with him cause they don’t use internal communication. Total waste of time wouldn’t recommend using it to anyone at all.

Borderline fraud
The number of times you have illegally stopped my transactions is breathtaking. You do not refund the money you have taken and I am forced to spend HOURS making extremely expensive calls to untrained people who are neither authorised to nor capable of sorting out your mess. I am close to asking for a police investigation. How much are you making on the overnight interest market by illegally seizing millions of dollars in customer funds? My accounts are verified to the highest level, and funds from the sending bank are covered by two-step authentication. My transfers are ALWAYS within your published limits, the funds from a legitimate and verified source and the recipients are fully verified.

Hit and miss
at the end of the transaction, I am directed to the sending bank for approval
I then go through my banks checks, they approve the transfer and direct me back to WA
I sometimes then hit the send button but instead of the Tx going through , I have to resend, and as my bank is secure in it actions, I then have to go through the security again.
Won’t take long before this becomes an action I won’t repeat, and no ve to another method.

You are just fantastic
So I tried to send money to my fiancé and my bank kept blocking the transaction, we started to panic as we had to get the money to her.
But it didn’t matter how I tried it was like hitting a solid wall, then I thought Western Union great and now it has been sent, what I tried saying to my bank which is HSBC we’re not all scammers or thieves.
But thanks to WU I’m now happy and can get a good nights sleep.

Keeping my family alive!
Thanks WU for this great low cost service (bank-bank) without it my family would not survive. We are separated by British immigration law because I can’t work enough to bring my wife here as I have one of our two children living with me. Without being able to send my wife regular funds we would have lost everything.

Keep saying I registered with a different country. Tried to registered with my current country but keep saying to reset password. When I reset password the whole process start again. Already tried 3 different email addresses and its all like a round robin. Gave up now.

Do not use Western Union!
WESTERN UNION LOST MY MONEY AND DID NOT HELP - USE ANOTHER TRANSFER COMPANY
What can I say - Western Union : what a terrible, terrible service. My international bank transfer was lost somewhere on its way to the recipient’s account. OK, these things happen, but a responsible transfer company would take all steps required to recover the money sent. Western Union did not. They sent messages to the recipient’s bank and did not hear back. They took no further action and ignored my multiple requests for the Swift document that the recipient’s bank was requesting to trace the transfer - so my money was simply LOST! I wasted so much time with customer support, sending emails, live chat, and finally the “specialised” complaints department who simply told me that my complaint was without merit and still took no action. Disgusting service - my strong advice : use another transfer company as Western Union simply does not care.

The keep cancelling my transaction
Tried to send money twice, went through the verification and confirmation process both times smoothly and without any problems, made sure all the information was correct and that I had the sufficient funds to proceed, they took the money from my account and then a few minutes later I get a message saying it was cancelled because they were unable to collect the money from my account. This is ridiculous and I won’t be using them again.

Not perfect but good
I’ve used it for years to send money to India without issues. But it’s a pain as if you want to send the money to your own account are a non resident India , they ask you the recipient details as it goes into my own account and there’s no option to make payment into own account and have to choose others irrelevant options such as job description which makes it really tricky . Please have a option to send money into self account in other countries as recipient with the unnecessary questions.

Sound app, easy to use
I've been using the app & online for years, and recently had to change my email address. Not so easy on the app, but easy online. However, that meant I had to get my identity verified again.
Tried doing that via the app, but it repeatedly crashed when gauging my network speed. Called support, who said to do it online.
Once the identity process was done, the app worked perfectly. Reflecting on it, I'm glad the process was thorough, though an app crashing isn't the best outcome. Overall, very easy to use, under normal circumstances!

Good but irritating
Good but irritating? I have had no problems using this app for transfers, save for one. That even with clicking on ‘Remember Me’ I have to put in the password manually each time and when you are in a hurry, this is irritating!
Beyond that WU has helped connect with and support friends on the other side of the world. Thank you.

Worse experience with worse company
Used them for many years with small issues with almost every transaction - although i dont use them primarily. I use other companies.
Last transaction (i should not have used them) done yesterday - 1st hurdle was payment instruction, on the WU app, there is only the receiver’s name in the reference with WU account details. So, used that info and transferred money.
10 minute later received an email with “EB” reference for payment. So, called helpline and they said EB reference should be used. Told them multiple times, on the app i did not see no “EB” reference. Then got told i should have checked my email!! Really!!!
Called multiple times and every time was told a decision will be made in few hours and i will be notified if money will be sent or not. Being told WU supports millions of transactions each day so i should have used “EB” reference from my email …. Wellll why does WU not make app better by spending a few thousand £s and add EB reference on app too. Complete idiots.
Money was confirmed after 12 hours .. bear in mind i needed this money urgently where i was sending!
Then further 6 hours later, money leaves WU account and reaches Receiver’s bank. So, a total of 18 hours.
Note: money is still not with the receiver as WU or Bank has further delayed the payment now.
So, do not use. I will be closing my account. There are many alternate options now.
This is a crap company with crap customer service.

Great app
I have always liked the app
Easy to use
Only gripe today hence the 4 stars it would bot recognise my new address
Then I got locked out
However call centres had London numbers they told me they were 24/7 and both times short waiting time, helpful advice, patient query resolved.
I would use again and again and again.
Oh had to resort back to paying higher fee as via bank transfer takes longer -days whereas the other options to Jamaica were minutes???? On app says minutes but agent and pré transfer screen seemed to indicate longer today…..
But overall I have no complaints as my relatives thousands of miles away received their gift almost instantly this still cheaper ans more efficient than me taking to them myself.

Worth the hassle, once I got verified
The verification process was a little bit of a nightmare, but that is understandable given how much identity fraud and financial scams happen online these days.
Since being verified this app has made my life a whole lot easier. It takes multiple payments, including Klarna, Apple Pay and online bank transfer. I no longer have to make the trek to money agents and the online fees are much more reasonable, than in person, while all transfers are done in minutes.
Moreover, you get the occasional loyalty reward which was never the case with the money agents.

I have been with WU for almost a decade now. Always competitive with their exchange rates and always have been cheaper with the transfer fee in comparison to other Money Transfer Services. I’ve been using the app for more than 6 years now (if my memory is right) and never have had any issues. Definitely recommended!

I’ve been using WU for a long time and this app for quite a while now. It’s relatively simple even for those of us technically challenged! My only bugbear is that my bank seems to think it’s a scam!? WU is a reputable company and the many checks along the way should weed out any pitfalls. I would not send money to someone I did not know! I’m not a complete idiot 🤪!

So much better than bank transfers
I have been using this app and the services for years now. It started when I saw that I had to pay a transaction fees on top of the the conversion fees when I sent money from U.K. to India. Further it used to take some times days or weeks for the money to reach the recipient and months for the money to come back when transactions didn’t get completed. So I started using WU and boy what a difference. Now the money reaches the person within mins of me clicking send - no hassles and absolutely stress free.

I have family out in Cyprus who I send money to for birthdays etc. Most other payment services take so much effort with lots of questions due to the country I send to. However this company asked all the questions once and they keep it in your profile so making it much easy and efficient to send money.

Best money sending app
Been using this app for last three years continously. Never have any issue. Very easy & safe to use. Sometime it took like minutes to transfer money in bank account without any charges. I always use apple pay to transfer through bank and that is free of charge so from the time i am using this app i never have paid any fees at all. Really happy with it. Would love recommending it to everyone who wants to send money abroad. This app didnt gave me a chance to try any other app for money transfer.

Excellent features and handy
Very good features on mobile app. Allows various payment methods including Apple Pay. Easy to use previously made a transfer with new exchange rate (ReSend). Also, without logging in you can check the rates and if OK to transfer then logon from there with the same exchange rate. Most importantly prices get updated very frequently in a day. I feel very lively connected with the exchanges, so you will not loose most updated price.

I used to make the usual trip to my local shop to do my transfer until the Virus pandemic struck and suddenly I couldn’t send money when I desperately needed to. Fortunately, I was introduced to the app and it has been fantastic. I can do everything within minutes from the comfort of my phone. This is particularly helpful for me because I’m always working.

Easy way to Money Transfer
I am a register user and always find more convenient to send money with this App. Easy to use and helpline customer care always be there for help although i had some issues with my money transfers in past but the customer compliance unit is really very helpful and they always try to sort the problems as quick as possible. Always recommended to my friends circle to use the App.

Crooks
They don’t want to give refund if they can not process the transaction.
1. They will put the transaction for review but won’t send u mtcn number on the email, but from ur bank account the money will be deducted.
2. After couple of days when u inquiry about the transaction they will ask for Mtcn number(which they didn’t send) after they will keep asking u which date u send the payment, to who, their passport copy, when u send they will say its under review, then remind them again that u don’t want this transaction anymore just refund.
3. If u have gmail and u send them email from googlemail (which is same thing i am sure everyone knows) u are in bad luck. Covid-19 is not an excuse for being dumb or being crooks to play with people’s hard earned money.

A good and useful app but bad management
The only issue I have is ‘bad rate’ some times. Once I sent money to my family in Pakistan @ Rs. 208 but Western union did not deliver this money despite I deposited money instantly via mobile payment. My family received notification they have money in the bank account :) but later on I received an email your money has been returned/ refunded. It’s really a headache sometimes dealing with WU. I kindly urge WU to update or clarify their system and make it more convenient for users.

First time ok but expensive.
The app worked just fine. And I was able to send money to Africa to be picked up in cash in less than 1 hr. Impressive. Two downsides, I was sending £100 Sterling and the exchange rate was reduce by approx 8% plus a £4.90 charge, making the overall charge close to 13%. Pretty high and based on the country who received the money astronomic. I’m all for making money, then there is abuse of position. Come on WU 5% overall would be more acceptable.
Still good service and absence of a better option would use again, but will alway look for another option based on these fees.

Do not use this App
I thought I was the only one having issues, but it seems that Western Union has no Auditing on their cancelled transactions.
I've been sending money to my parents for years via Western Union, however I will not be using them at all, and this will be escalated one way or another.
Let me explain how their process works:
1. You enter the details of the person that you are sending the money to, destination country and the amount.
2. Once you submit the form, Western Union makes a requests from the bank for that sum of money.
3. The bank will send the sum of money to Western Union
4. Western Union will now hold that money till it is collected.
5. If the details of the sender is incorrect, the payment instruction will be in a pending state.
6. If the cancel the instruction, it will show as cancelled on the application, and will be removed from the system at their system. DON'T CANCEL via the app. CALL IN AND REQUEST A REFUND.
Western Union has denied that they have taken that money from account even though I sent screen shots from my bank statement with the transactions taken from my account.
I complained via my bank which disputed the transaction, but as expected they denied all knowledge of it.
I have been working in I.T. for many years and this process is clearly fraudulent. I will not take them to court as it would be too expensive for me to do (what they are counting on). I will get this escalated in another way.

Very Quick
Very quick convenient bank transfers from UK to Philippines. Only annoying thing is that they can change your payment reference number all of a sudden for no reason after 10 months and not tell you. Managed to get my money back after 3 days, and a few phone calls. It’s a good app, but must make sure the reference numbers are correct before sending.

Pointless app, wanted to use the “pay cash” option to keep fees down.... used the “find participating outlets “ went to 3 outlets and none of them accepted the app transaction so eventually after wasting a lot of time had to do the money transfer from scratch in the shop which cost £5 more on the fees than on the app. If the app fees for debit card payment were the same as cash payment then it would be a very useful app.... until the app fees are more competitive and you can actually find a store that accepts the “cash payment “ option then I would avoid at all costs.

Great App
New to western union and when I found out they have an app I was a little spectical about it, I’ve been using for 8 weeks and I must say I really say I am impressed, the money goes straight to the account; without any complications, saves from having to go and find a store not only that if family is in need urgently no matter the time a quick transfer and the money is there.....definitely recommend it

Could be much better
Is poorly made, such a big company and such a poor product. Sent money to USA, Russia, and european countries. I am not going to expose all the issues now, but simple fact that it can not automatically log in with finger print recognition or face recognition, that’s a shame, some features work and some don’t. Yes it does send money, the conversion rate is high, that’s how they make money on us not just fees. If you got no other option, than it will do it, Because of their poor service I had to look for different ways of sending money, which are way greater; however I still use Western Union from time to time.

Incomplete
Touch ID should be an essential feature of a finance app, and it’s disappointing to see the feature appear on the app screen and yet disabled.
The inability to send a specific figure is also frustrating. The webpage allows you to specify how much of the recipient currency you want to send but, in this app, you can only enter the origin currency. This means an annoying bout of trial and error to get to your desired amount.
I would recommend using the webpage to initiate transactions and using this app to track them. This app has potential but appears unfinished by a considerable margin.

I am using this app from more than two years now, very easy to use and quick money transfer but issue is when big sum of money is transferred you have to provide id of the other person at receiving end which is never communicated by them so as a customer I presume it has been delivered but in reality it’s not than I call them in order to chase where the money and than they advice me oh we need to see the id of other person which I provided than it took 48 hours for them to verify it and realise the money

I have sent money to three people from UK to Romania. For the first two I had to put the surname into the first name and vice-versa because they said the name was wrong. So I have thought "fair enough" at least I know how to do it now, but guess what!? When I've sent money to the 3th person, again the same issue but this time they wanted to put the name in normally, at the end of the day is just a matter of luck if the person you are sending money to, will be able to actually pick the money up. My advice is to not use the app because the system is confused and you end up losing a lot of time because you can't just change the name, you have to call and get your money refunded (takes up to 5 working days) and them resend the money again (also losing the transaction money).

I’ve been sending money for ten years. No problem.. today I had to re-enter my address for some reason and it wouldn’t accept it... so I called and eventually got an agent who said I had to enter a house number in order for it to work.. I have a house name - not a number!!! She made it out it was my fault!! So I had to make up a number. In 15 years of using websites this is the first time I’ve come across this.. come on - get a grip western union and alter your website so its user friendly. At the very least tell people about the problem on the address page!!!!!

Don’t even try using this app
Western Union are very unscrupulous. I am surprised Apple has allowed the app in the AppStore. Western Union make you go through the app and choose your mode of delivery. Once you have moved your money to them, they simply switch your delivery to cash or other means not minding that the beneficiary cannot even physically go to a location to pick up.
When you ring them up, they advise you (the sender) to go and pick from the location (even if you sent the funds from thousands of kilometres away). Alternatively, they tell you they can refund the money to you within 7 working days. Yes you read that correctly 7 WORKING DAYS!!!
Avoid this app at all cost. WU are very crooked, especially with this app!!!

Holding my money
Western union are ok. Use money gram. They are so much quicker! So much cheaper, you will also never have a problem using this company. I have had so many problems with western union. They are still holding £600 of my money, and have been for nearly 2 days. I have waited almost 2 days for someone to contact me about they’re inconvenience. It has totally effected my birthday weekend. So went to use money gram, and wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will see a great difference when you use money gram and not western union. Not only that. If I send £500 they charge me a fee of £15. Money gram will charge me £5 for this transaction. And they give you a higher rate. Honestly!!! USE MONEYGRAM!

Not very good
For a company as established as Western Union I am shocked at the level of poor quality software you have done. Now where do I start....1. The app crashes and has poor responsiveness 2. Some of the features done reintroduced don’t make any business sense at all 3. The Fingerprint prompt at logging is Inop on iPhones 4. Transfers from Apps don’t give instant transfers as opposed to other Apps like World Remit etc.
In fact the software has been so poor for such a long time going back to 2016. Now I only use western union app when I really have to. Would use any of the other competitors most times

Easy eventually
I resisted using app until I had no choice - was quite happy to send money by phone. Now I prefer app as it’s so quick and it stores people’s names and it’s easy to inform the receiver that the money’s been sent. A bit of a pain to have to verify I.d. but once I’d stopped procrastinating it took minutes to send a photo of I.d. and get authorised and now I’m all set up. Although it says bank transfer or credit card it should say credit/debit as I always use a debit card with no problem

Add next day service
I used the service which was easy and straight forward and got fee off as a promotion however can WesternUnion please add next day service which is cheaper than sending in minutes. We want all options available. Very happy with everything, no more going from one shop to another asking if the service is working and only to be told they no longer do it or it’s down at the moment. The frustration, thank goodness for online service 😀

Poor
Been a customer for 8 years sending money every month to parents . Every time i use app there is a problem . This month western union took money twice from my bank with out my permission and refused to refund me back .i complained a week ago but still no one reply me back . I have been treated really badly . When i spoke to customer services they said it was error from their side but they cant refund . 😡😡😡 its a joke they took money twice now cant refund as money went into receivers account . Not happy with online services or either app. Poor customer services . I hope some one read this and take action into this 😡😡😡😡

Quick and simple
I use this app regularly and it has made transferring money to my daughter in Canada quick and simple . I have verified my identity which means I can send money regularly and I always use the credit card option to pay with my debit card . I wouldn’t be without it now as it literally takes minutes to send money to her .

Stressing me out- Apparently this is a 5 star - I don’t think so!!!
Downloaded the App wanting to transfer money but transferred me to the desktop website for my bank not the iPhone app!!!
Then in order to put the details had to move back and forth from WU app to Bank app and bank app closes after so long and then there is the reference is too long! The bank won’t accept the Reference number and full name of receiver and the letters for Canada (CA)!!!!
So in the end I have to walk to a western Union what is the bloody point instead of bank transfer why can’t u have the option to use a debit card? But the options are credit card or bank transfer !!!!

Always works
I've had no issues with using the app since 2015. I use the app to make transfers to the Caribbean via bank payments. Payments can be slow to retrieve at destination despite "money in minutes " and western unions email confirmation that the bank transfers were correct. It takes few hours to be collected by receiver.
The transfer can be lower as everything is done online.
Otherwise it's a good app.
