Description
Sacred Space is inspired by the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, a sixteenth-century Basque, whose insights into God's working with the human heart have been of great assistance to countless people over the centuries and are found more helpful than ever today.
Sacred Space is a joint apostolate of the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus - the Jesuits, and Loyola Press. The site originated in the offices of the Jesuit Communication Centre in Ireland in 1999. Within a short time, many other languages were introduced.
Using Sacred Space
It might seem strange to pray at your computer, in front of a screen or using your smartphone, especially if there are other people around you, or distracting noises. But God is everywhere, all around us, constantly reaching out to us, even in the most unlikely situations. When we know this, and with a bit of practice, we can pray anywhere!
We offer the pages of the site to guide you through a session of prayer, in six stages, including preparing your body and mind, and culminating in reflection on a scripture passage chosen specially for the day. The stages are:
The Presence of God
Freedom
Consciousness
The Word
Conversation
Conclusion
Although they are written in the first person - "I" - the prayers are for doing, rather than for reading out. Each stage is a kind of exercise or meditation aimed at helping you get in touch with God, and God's presence in your life.

Peace at the start of my day
I have been using this app for a while, it was recommended by a nun and as I am a mum of 2 children she said it would be perfect for me to get some peace in my busy day, and it is. I read it over and over the words are so lovely, and if I can’t get to mass that day the daily reading is there for me also.The choice of music is also so beautiful and calming. I have recommended it to everyone at my parish.

Best prayer app
I have been using this app daily for several years now. It is the best prayer inspiration I have found. It feeds me every morning formptayer even when I am tired or haven’t slept well. Thanks

Internet needed & poor sound quality 🙁
Unfortunately you need internet connection to download each prayer on a daily basis, as there is no option to store them. Also, the sounds are on an annoying loop which is clunky and quite distracting. All this defeats the purpose of an app such as this. So I’d feel happier to pay for a better developed app, one in which you could store a weeks’ worth of prayers and where the background sounds were of better quality.

Stands the test of time
I’ve looked everywhere the years for sources of spiritual renewal and Sacred Space has always been there, a beacon. It is not only practical and easy to use, but its commitment to renew itself constantly matches its aim for its users. God bless!

Invaluable prayer guide, use daily
I love this app. I use it at home or on my commute and it gives me a framework for a daily dose of connecting with God. Short prayers and reflections, a bite sized Bible Reading, and time to just rest in Him. I find it invaluable and use it almost every day.

Black screen
This has not worked for a while now. All I get is a black screen. I have re-downloaded several times but can't fix this. This is a shame as it was very useful before this happened.

Wonderful content but poor reliability of the app.
I have been using Sacred Space for a while via the website but only recently got the app. It worked for a few days but then started to crash on opening so I had to uninstall it.

Can't turn off annoying clicking sounds
I have tried pressing the volume icon on the top right hand of the page but this only turns off the music - the annoying clicking and scratching sounds still happen when turning a page, etc. How can I turn these off? I'm about to delete the App with this frustration!

The page clicks can be turned off. At the end you'll notice a volume symbol in the top right hand corner, just click on this.
