What's New in Version 5.65.0

This week we’ve been doing lots of little fixes. They aren’t glamorous, and they won’t win us any awards, but they do make your experience better. For us, that’s more important than a mantlepiece full of trophies.
Even though our developers are the best, they're only human and sometimes miss things. So if you’ve spotted something odd then let us know by emailing ios@clearscore.com

Shame

Useful app no longer available to me unless I purchase a new iPhone as requires iOS above 16 😞 I received an update from the developer to say that the app was still available to me is proved to be a complete waste of time I had to show them screenshots as to why it needed an iOS above 16.
It’s a shame the developers don’t even know what the latest updates are and how they affect existing customers are in no hurry to upgrade their mobile devices.
I am still able to log on The website and the company offers a great service so thanks all the same

Good app

App it good and all but when it says 1 day to update I dose it the next day offers are bad that they give you no options to improve for free theres always a fee even tho its not even the real credit score because one says one thing and another says something else like say clear score says 650 Experian says 800 there is absolutely no point in having this app plus better with the real credit score

Appears a Scam

Downloaded. Entered all my personal data. Linked to my bank account. AFTER THAT told I had already signed up with a .edf.com email address. If not me “let them know” but with no mechanism to do so! Appears they have taken extensive sensitive data with no way to engage. Now very worried. Strongly recommend others don’t fall for the same trap. Assume unregulated but shall now check.

Not even opening

I used to love this app but since last month I haven’t been able to use it. I deleted it and reinstalled it many times but it doesn’t seem to fix the problem. I wish I could use it again, it was great to keep track of my accounts and credit score, and most importantly I was able to apply for credit cards and see the best offers all in one place. It’s a shame it doesn’t work anymore. Going somewhere else,

Fictional score to push products

The app has got worse year on year with a constant drive to sell you things you don’t need or asked for and no option to opt out. The report says updates in 1 day has done for nearly 3 months now and updating or reinstalling makes no difference. The credit health data is wrong with incorrectly classified transactions and mortgages incorrectly linked as loans. There are so many incorrect things to list that it’s quicker to list was does work. I have reported issue previously and basically get ignored. Unless they are getting some commission for selling you something there is zero interest in fixing all the errors.

Wrong address

Downloaded this app hoping I could update my address as couldn't on your website. Alas no. Only option is to tick box select one of my odd addresses, no update option at all despite what your help section says. If I can't give you my correct details then you can't give me my correct score. In other words it's not just your app that's pointless, it's your entire company. Ridiculous.

Inaccurate refresh days

Despite the fact that this app is updated regularly, as much as I love the ClearScore app, the one thing that infuriates me is that when I go to view my credit health by clicking “see report” it says “Updates in 1 day” for several days. I’ve had it say 1,2,3 etc. but it then gets stuck on 1 for a few days before eventually updating, and whilst this doesn’t affect the app or quality of ClearScore per se, it does really bug me (no pun intended 😉) Whilst irritating I do however still really rate the ClearScore app!

Great app, useful information, shame it’s not working for me anymore

Think this is a good app with lots of useful information, despite the recent updates, which I feel have reduced the functionality and ease of use.
Unfortunately for some reason this app isn’t working, when I click on there both direct and via a link from an email or notification, the screen goes the green y-blue colour then it closes.

Not impressed with the intimation

I always like clear score because it was quite good with information. Then I moved address and all my accounts both bank and credit card, disappeared. It also didn’t make me aware that A hard search had been made on the account – Credit Karma did and within three minutes of the application. I must admit, Credit Karma seems to be winning on the information and efficiency score. As they are the most current and up-to-date with all my credit score information.

What happened?….

It used to be a great app! Don’t know what’s going on lately! Firstly, my credit score has stayed the same for a year now , whereas on my Experian it actually logs what is going on and if it’s going up. ClearScore hasn’t logged recent activity. It doesn’t make much sense.
Secondly, the app’s actual UX is absolutely horrendous… I can’t even go on it because it’s lagging behind every time I scroll. It’s awesome that it spins like a coin near my credit score , but couldn’t you have an initial animation at first when you enter the app then stop it moving after that? That way it hints that you can scroll to get more info but it can stop after that so it’s not distracting.
I also don’t think it’s very optimised for all phones. I can’t use the app anymore due to this lag. I hope you’ll be able to fix in the next update.

ClearScore is not up to date

I am receiving a lots of emails alerting me that there’s a change in your credit score, but not only there’s no change in my credit score but also it’s not up to date compared to other credit reference agency. For example: I am registered on electoral roll but ClearScore says you not registered. And so on…
I have turned off the option in my account/ communication section. But still keep sending me emails.
I understand it’s free but why giving false information about individual users??

Makes up notifications

So generally the app is great though the navigation can be difficult to work out. Can sometimes take a while to get to where/what you want to get to.
My one big bug bear is I literally makes notifications up, out of thin air, daily. I get sometimes multiple daily notifications about a credit report being added, or my score changing, or something else and when I check there’s nothing there. I’m not sure whether it’s done on purpose as click bait to get you in so they can flog you loan offers but personally I’d disable notifications and use it when you want rather than trusting it.

Not Kept Up to Date

I just deleted this app. Compared to other free apps I use, the data here is not up to date and only refreshes every 10 months. That makes it pretty useless for keeping track of things in real time.

Terrible since Equifax took over.

Equifax has totally ruined many good features from when this was the Clear Score app and added new tariffs and charges to the new premium areas of the app. Very sad to see they have removed important sections such as “your score will update in x days” and the removal of the famous timeline of your score. I think this is because Equifax is generally one of the slowest creditors to update records for customers. I’m generally very dissatisfied with this new app and company take over. 6 simple words - do not fix what isn’t broken!

Was great but quickly declining

Firstly, the past two updates have experienced Biometrics Failure and you have to log in the normal way. Which is fine.
Secondly, not sure how long it takes to update Clear Score but I’ve searched the Dark Web for my breaches and I’ve cleared them all and have put my email address on watch but Clear Score still has my Password breaches listed.

Used to be a good app

Used to love ClearScore as it was the best app where you can see a LOT of information about what’s on your credit score, could see full information on what companies where associated. Since the newest update you can’t see any of this information now, timeline doesn’t go back very far and they are starting to creep in paid services.
*I keep getting emails “something is changing with your report” but when I click the link in the email it takes me to the page and says May 2025 no upcoming changes. Getting very frustrated with this app. Another thing I have noticed is that my score has jumped up on Experian yet stayed the same with ClearScore…why?
Long story short, still hate all of the changes made by the development team. Want the old app back.

Multiple Mortgages

Hey. Love the app. It’s always been brilliant. You appear to have lost the “next update in X days” again which I find very useful however I’d like to ask if you can consider an app update that allows people like myself with multiple mortgages to enter/select them (or your app could more-populate them - you have the data) when looking for loan or card offers. I’m never sure what is the right thing to do when checking for offers like balance transfers. I’d also like to know if there is anything you can do regarding people paid in dividends as this doesn’t fit the standard path either. Keep up the good work though!

New UI design shows less useful information

I noticed just a few days ago that this app has had a user interface (UI) overhaul, which follows the current trend of larger font sizes and bento tiles to present information and sections.
While it does make the user experience (UX) of the application somewhat easier, I do find that the display of more granular (and dare I say, useful) information has been sacrificed as a result. For example, the old UI design had progress bars for things like credit card and mortgage accounts, alongside credit limits/loan totals and the increase/decrease amounts over the past month for the aforementioned account types. The progress bar and credit limits appear to remain in the new UI for credit cards, but have gone missing for mortgages - now only showing the remaining balance.
It could be argued that I could just find out the missing information from here in my separate mobile banking apps, I liked that this app would show all information for all account types in one place, with the added benefit of also showing how those changes were affecting my credit score; that, as far as I’m concerned, is a better user experience.
I’m afraid to say this app has fallen foul of design over function, and that truly is a shame.

Report Date Removed

This app used to be a reliable tool for keeping track of my credit report, but the most recent update has removed a key feature: the date showing when my credit report was last updated. This is a critical detail for anyone monitoring their financial health, as it helps track when changes occur and ensures the information is current.
Without this feature, the app feels incomplete and significantly less useful. It’s frustrating to lose functionality that was so important, especially in a tool meant to provide financial clarity.
If this feature were restored, the app would absolutely deserve a 5-star rating. Until then, its utility is severely diminished, and I will be exploring alternative apps for managing my credit report. Please prioritise bringing this back in the next update!

Absolute Pile of Rubbish

Clearscore used to be good, but not any more. They have plastered a bunch of massive ugly faces all over the landing page of the app, allegedly to explain to dullards and idiots what credit is. This means that those of us who were for many years quite happy with the intuitive lay out of the app have effectively been told to beggar off… I wrote to them to ask them what the hell they were thinking of, and they basically told me to get lost, and like it or lump it. Our banking apps actually provide credit scores now, Monzo provides all three main credit agency scores, so that means that all Clearscore do is provide the score from a single agency, and then provide alleged deals for financial products which are not actually accurate, with the rates changing by the time you get to the application process. So, there is no point at all in using this app, unless you bank with one of the few useless banks who do not invest in decent apps. And and oh man, the faces of the wannabes in the videos are hideously ugly, and not something I ever want to see, let alone every time I launch a credit scoring app that buries the important info so deep it’s impossible to find! I contacted Clearscore a number of times about the issue, and they point blank refused to restore the app to being a useful tool, explaining that the videos plastered all over the landing page were necessary for any fools who don’t understand what credit is? I told them I would therefore delete the app, which they ignored, so I have now deleted the app. It is clearly not intended for those who helped Clearscore establish itself, it is just for the few idiots who don’t know what credit is. Clearscore….you can go to hell!

I’ve been using this app for years now and have loved it but the new update is just awful. It looks terrible and is so much more difficult to navigate. It feels less insightful and I’m struggling to find just about all the features I loved about the app. It’s change for the sake of change and feels really badly thought out. All the new ‘tip videos’ are just where I’d want to see my financial information and quite frankly I’m never going to watch them. Why aren’t they on a separate page?
It’s just got no redeeming features sadly. If I had the option I’d rather go back to the old UI because this new one for me, makes the app unusable, and if it doesn’t change to be more insightful/similar to the old version I doubt I’ll be using ClearScore much longer.

What a downgrade

The latest update is a head scratcher. I have used this app for years and it’s been great but the recent update has made it almost unusable. It’s less user friendly and logical, harder to find your accounts and also some seem to have vanished. Whoever they got in to redevelop this app needs to never be allowed near another one. It’s now one of the worst finance apps I have encountered and I’m considering switching to one of their competitors to track my credit score and compare new products.
In reply to the dev response. The issue is that the user interface of the new app is awful and that fundamentally won’t change. You need to go back to the old version. Look at the reviews you are getting. It’s rubbish and I can’t believe it was signed off.

Update feels like a downgrade

I’ve been using clear score for years, it’s great that you can get so much information for free. My problem now is that the new update feels like a complete downgrade. The app does look a lot more polished with the update, but removing the ability to check your debt ratios on the timeline graph was a mistake. The timeline graph was one good feature that allowed me to see what debts where going down but now it shows a basic graph that you cannot press on to see short term/long term debts. Another issue I have is that they are really trying to push the credit health by linking your bank account to the app, which I never want to do.
Overall the app does look nice but they have removed features that were unique to ClearScore and made it generic.

Anyone want a credit card ?

This app is just non-stop credit card offers if you’re not careful you could click on a notification that comes through on your phone thinking your update in your details for your ClearScore profile and you’re filling in a form with your name and address on for a credit card. The information you get about your credit score isn’t as detailed as some of the others that’s out there these days. It seems to be primarily focused on getting credit cards and loans, so I’m assuming maybe that’s where they take some profits and commission? if you just want to know the score, then it’s fine for that but just be careful

Driven into debt

It seems this app never stops bombarding consumers with new ways to get into debt … very low morals and obviously just in it for the money … can’t blame a company for this … but stop pretending to help …some of these reviews are dubious with gushing praise for daily attempts to drive people into debt , today for example I have received 3 loan offers , 4 credit cards and car finance all guaranteed to be accepted …none of which I need , asked for or want . if your struggling with debt this is for sure not the app for you … this needs taking down on the pretence they are giving you a score but in fact driving people Into debt .. and they even want to stick their noses into peoples bank accounts !! Who the hell do they think they are. My advise check your score and delete it . Same with all these companies … just want to sell Your information to companies without due diligence for their “ commission “ they should make it very clear what their referral fees are so we can all see the morality behind this pretence Deleted the app, also don’t believe the pre approval scam … clear score cannot pre approve you for anything

Avoid apps like this

Was happily going about my business without much credit a few years ago and along came this app. Was happy to get credit through the app and thought this was great but a few years down the line I have 15k in credit card debt and interest payments of £300 per month meaning I’m going to be stuck in this rut for years on end. Just paying interest to stay still. Some of the interest rates are extortionate and you get letters from the lender saying that you’re not going to like this but we’re going to increase your interest rate again. Some are over 30%. I haven’t missed any payments in years but my credit rating is the lowest it’s been in years because of the credit being offered by companies going through this app. New day are the worst. Extremely irresponsible lenders, working out every spare penny you may have and more. If you want to get the app and get the easiest credit around this is the app for you but don’t get in a rut because you won’t get out unless you sell assets or win the lottery.

Really good to know

Had some really good advise on this app I had bad credit for years I Tryed my best to pay all back hand have done over the last four years with the help of clear score keeping me up to date with the app - can’t fault it - people help yourself once you straight your see the credit you can get as lender will see you are reliable and responsible as we are allowed to make mistake but if in debt maybe give the creditor a quick call and tell me about your situation and sometimes I surely happy to help you out,

Brilliant!

I was advised by a Fraud Team to download this app to keep an eye on my credit score because I'd recently been scammed!
I was really shocked to find out that my personal data had been stolen many times over the years and was being used on the "Dark Web!!!" I needed to sort this out urgently ....which I'm in the process of doing by changing email addresses and passwords to make my accounts secure! This app is totally FREE.......but I decided to pay £4.99 a month because of the fact I'd been scammed and they monitor 3 email addresses in that price.....plus more!
I highly recommend this app!

Inaccurate and unreliable

The info used comes from equifax and is unreliable, so the offers they partner you with are based on inaccurate data and therefore not necessarily the best out there. They are so slow to update changes, they claim to do so within around six weeks but in reality it’s more like six months. I’ve had errors across my report and when you try to get it corrected they basically email equifax who then email you saying to log into a site which you have no access to, you have no idea what is happening, then after a few months they close down the dispute and the false outdated information remains. Anyone using equifax data is using outdated and misleading information and there seems to be little you can do to fix it. If you go through Experian you’ll find much more up to date and accurate information and much better offers.

Very Highly Reccomended

When I first started using ClearScore my score was very low. ClearScore however enabled me to see a breakdown of my credit history and by using the tools it provides to better educate you about what affects your score worse etc. I was able to prioritise how I managed my debit to remove the things which where dragging my score down first. I now have a healthy score. This wouldn’t have been possible without this app.
I must add that I did find some strange items on my affordability score, but once I’d raised a help ticket with them, the developers addressed my issue to the highest satisfaction.
A definite must have and use regularly app.

Excellent app but theres a bug in affordability

I’ve really enjoyed using the app to boost my credit score. But after i linked my bank account for the affordability section everything was fine. There was a count down until i needed to re link my account? Every time i try to do this i get an “oops something went wrong” message no matter how many times i try again. And when i go to the “contact us” section it takes me to a web page, I select the “affordability”section and then “other” and i just get a spinning ball forever. So i have no way to resolve the issue and no way to report it apart from leaving a review. Other than this one issue the app is great! Way better than any other apps I've tried for credit ratings.

Incorrect data

Though my data with equifax was correct, it somehow didn’t match up with my ClearScore addresses. There was a random address on my address list and I had to write to support for help to fix this after going in circles using the FAQ. I think Equifax should be the source of truth for my report, but the address on the system didn’t come from equitazione, causing my score to be very low since it didn’t match up with my data for the electoral role. Fixing my address in my ClearScore profile (which I could not do myself but only through customer support) bumped my score up over 300 points, which is more in line with my score with other agencies. In my opinion, the ClearScore report & associated score are not very useful if I can’t trust the source of the data is actually equifax.

There’s a hole in my bucket dear Liza…….

Firstly - I’ve been involved in web based solutions for a number of years - owning a couple of companies offering Internet services since 2002.
One of my pet hates - Companies that prevent customers speaking to a human to solve their problem - in this instance I have a problem with a Two Factor Authentication issue.
Usual problem with software developers - they can’t envisage a problem that requires human intervention - so nowhere to telephone anyone - anywhere.
Typical oversight of login procedures - I can’t turn off 2FA to reset it to SMS so that I can log in - because I can’t login because 2FA isn’t working!!!!! Arrrgggghhhh! That wouldn’t be so bad if you could talk to someone but there are absolutely no contact details on their website that doesn’t end up kettling you into their automised help responses, that don’t work, because they advise you to login to switch off 2FA.
Clearscore - every company should offer some sort of human response and make the means of contact accessible - otherwise your service is as indifferent as large utility organisations (at least most of those have a helpline)
Simple solution - how about if 2FA via Software fails - then revert to backup SMS number?

Brilliant

Absolutely love this app. It has become somewhat addictive wanting to see my score improve and implementing the suggestions to gain that better score. The information is very accurate and it’s interesting to see the pre approved offers available based on your own score. This app manages to do something that you would normally need to pay for. One other thing I have found is that it really has helped me to understand better how credit scoring works and how easy it is to lose points on your score. Knowing my credit history is no longer a potential scare but a means to want to improve. Get this app you won’t be disappointed. Yes there are lots of offers and deals based on your score but at the end of the day your not obliged or forced to sign up for anything. I read many complaints about the offers etc but at the end of the day the app is not responsible for making decisions on finances, just because something is recommended doesn’t mean it should be taken. Rather than blame the app and the ClearScore company people need to own there financial negatives and not blame others for there own mistakes

DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR ADVICE!!!!!

I got the app and had a score of 486 out of 700. Avg in my area 421, so I was quite happy. For months my score stayed the same and for the whole time I was faced with “1 off-track insight” which was the fact that I DIDN’T have a credit card. I figured, OK, I’m good with my money, so I’ll get a card and improve my score because I’ll have good results in all categories. So I got a card which was recommended by the app. The next month my score goes DOWN 15 points to 471!!!!! So, the moral of the story is they’re ONLY interested in their commission and really don’t care about your score so long as they make money from you. Clearscore is poo. DELETED! Update: Crappy generic response from developer to contact them at their generic email address ‘so they can help’ despite many others saying the devs don’t respond. Adds insult to injury and proves these guys are, as previously stated, POO! Don’t waste your download. Clearscore is garbage!

100% approved does not mean approved at all.

I’ve never had a bad experience until today. I was sent 6 emails this morning despite not going on the app recently. Two notifications came through saying I was 100% approved for credit cards, thinking that my 0% offer is coming to an end in a couple of weeks I’d do a balance transfer on what’s left. Post office was suggested and I looked at the product and reviews looked good. I understand you don’t always get offered the best option, but I went ahead with the application. Ive never been declined credit and have a healthy score so I went ahead. To be declined, so I called the post office and they said I would of never been approved for the card, even with the information sent over from ClearScore so they have no idea why it says 100% approved and preapproved.
Just want to make this completely clear for anyone using this app. The information isn’t always correct as unfortunately I've learnt today

Highly recommend!

ClearScore is absolutely brilliant but there is one miner thing id like them to work on, they take months to update the actual balance thats on your accounts on their app, for example i payed off most of my cards and the balance is nearly all payed off but on the app it still hasn’t changed yet which can be annoying as its taking along time to catch up. But there is probably a logical reason as it was alot of money.
But other than that its been very helpful and I highly recommend as it helped me weite of my most concerned debts that i had for years now i only have a couple and is more manageable for me. Hope they add some more new helpful features soon!
Great job guys 💎

Good concept just needs a bit of updating.

I’ve only just recently looked at credit report apps from the three main agencies. Out of the three I find this one to be the least polished and hardest to understand. This may be due to Equifax changing their score limit from 700 to 1000 recently - which isn’t reflected in this app yet. It also has a different scoring method to other agencies, so instead of Poor, Good, Excellent , we have Raise your game, Looking bright and Soaring High. But these names don’t have any explanation of which score ranges they are within the app.
I was also having problems working out the month a missed payment occurred as there were no months allocated to the dots in the dashboard, so I wasn’t sure wether January was bottom left or top left or top right or bottom right.
While all credit agencies have their own quirks I found this one possibly needs more fine tuning to make it a great app.

Not very clear, but good app, stable

I would like to know my actual Equifax category. I thought I was dead low, but I was proper high. Confusing and unclear. However: very pretty, and full of useful information, so five stars. Include a chart which places you on actual Equifax categories, and update to score out of 1000 and new Equifax categories.
Edit: Thanks for your quick response. Please be aware I think the app is a very good service and very useful for people. In my case however I did not associate the ClearScore "flying high" text with a category snd was confused, so it could just be a little clearer. Thanks again!

Highly inaccurate

This is the least satisfactory credit scoring service there is, and I think simply inaccurate. After a two year hiatus I downloaded it again only to find my score is identical to what it was when I deleted the app. During the entire year I used the app before that it never deviated from a single score despite changes in my spending or hard searches - both of which should have affected a change in my score. (Just one hard search led to a 49 point fall on Experian; nothing changed in the slightest on ClearScore.) It’s also a complete outlier when compared with my scores on Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Indeed , it gives a wildly different reading from Equifax which it is supposed to be linked to. Others might well find ClearScore helpful but if I wanted to look at a static number for another year I might as well just make a screensaver of it. Just useless rubbish compared with other ones I will continue to use and consider reliable.

Very dissatisfied and disappointed

I tried to use this app for over a month now but I keep facing issues over issues and the customer service and support have no idea how to fix those problems. I created 2 different accounts, separately as instructed, but the issues still continued. This morning I received a msg from “Amruta” - from customer operations, saying that they deleted my account as they didn’t know how to deal with the problem and that she’s “ sorry for the inconvenience”. Very dissatisfied and disappointed of the whole process.. Was just a waste of a month time! 👎 awful!

Great little app

I’ve found the ClearScore app extremely useful, particularly the coaching aspect. I’ve probably learnt more about how to manage my finances in the last few months of using ClearScore than I have in 20 or so years of education.
It’s simple to use, easy to understand your score and has helped me increase my score month on month. It’s probably one of my most regularly-used apps alongside Plum.
My least favourite feature is the ‘offers’ section. I feel like finding the best deal on a credit card takes a bit of research on my part rather than relying solely on the offers shown on the app. However the app is free for me to use so I guess they have to make their commission somehow.

Good but room for improvement

This is a good way to keep track of your equifax credit score and key details in your report. However I really hate the gimmicky categorisation of your score like “looking bright” or “moving up”. It’s meaningless to me, just say “excellent”, “good”, “fair” like the credit agencies do and don’t leave us guessing what you mean. I also don’t know why hard searches from 8-9 months ago are still affecting the score when it’s widely accepted that the key goal is not to have more than 2 every 6 months. So I take this app with a pinch of salt because I managed just fine getting credit without it before but it’s useful for doing a quick check now and again for any changes.

Rubbish app and incredibly bad service

I downloaded the app before applying for a mortgage the app showed my score was a lot lower than the score the mortgage advisor had for me, one month after buying a property they put my credit score down? Because I was no longer on the electoral roll at the rental address I appealed, then 6 months later I appealed again then again, in the last 3 months I appealed 3 more times now 18 months after buying a house this app still shows I’m not on the electoral roll still says I’m living at a rental address, customer services say they have no proof I’m living at my new address and close the complaint!
They then tell me I should take a credit card offer through them to boost my score, and offer me a card from the same company I’ve had the same card for 20 year’s from, absolutely inept, completely inaccurate score, 18 months of paying a mortgage isn’t proof to them that I am credit worthy or have any credit history, I would suggest stay away from this app it will only frustrate you

This is the simplest way to help yourself

I have always been terrible with money, my credit history reads like a horror story to be honest. I started using ClearScore last year and it has, in the simplest way, helped me along the path to appreciating my money and mostly what an improved credit score can do for me. There’s no bully tactics or condescending language. There’s a free monthly report, yes it is simple but ITS FREE. I now look forward every month to seeing an increase in my score. I read a lot of people with poor comments about this but again ITS FREE!! I am grateful for the way this works and how I feel I have been gently encouraged to aim for better in my financial life. Thank you

Brilliant app - extremely useful

This is a brilliant app that helps you to keep a close eye on your credit score/rating, while clearly indicating what could be causing damage to ur credit score/rating. The app also gives you numerous ways to help rebuild your credit or reach ur targeted credit score I feel it’s tailored to each individual and helps you manage you’re debts, they offer advice in getting a mortgage, credit cards, loans or even buying a car...I find it extremely helpful it’s excellent that they don’t only help find the problems but also find you solutions, nothing is a dead end with this handy app!!

If you want to know your credit score

..and that’s it. Don’t fall into the trap of “Offers”.
I used to be a huge fan of ClearScore, I couldn’t sing their praises high enough, but as with all things that start small and focus on getting things right, they grow into monsters.
The ‘Offers’ used to be genuine. Over the 4 years or so I’ve been using ClearScore, I’ve used ‘Offers’ to get loans and balance transfer cards. The % indicating the chance of approval helped me decide what was right to apply for, it worked and I’d been able to manage my money. However, now they offer so many different services (loans, credit cards, mortgages, insurances etc) clearly the standard has dropped. I would now guess it’s just click bait. I have just tried to get a new balance transfer as my current offer is coming to an end... my credit score is the highest it’s ever been, and I had 4 cards that had a 90% chance of acceptance. Oh I got accepted, but not one of them kept the original offer; either increasing the APR, the fees, or the duration. So the Chance of being accepted has no relation to the offer, that’s there to pull you in... because once you get to the lenders offer, you don’t get to sit and think about the impact the change it has, you must decide then and there to accept the terms or wait a month to try again.
I’ll be getting my financial services elsewhere from now on, because ClearScore is of no use.

Better awareness of finances

Before I joined ClearScore I didn’t have much of a clue about managing my finances. Rarely did I check my credit report and my debt was building to a level I was starting to worry about gaining full control over my outgoings to cover debt and other expenses per month. It seemed no sooner was my wage going into the bank that I was paying over £850 out of it each month which resulted in repeated process of having to use my credit cards to get through the following month. I felt I needed to do something to put it all in order or debt was going to spiral out of control. I joined ClearScore that gave me brilliant tips and advice. My outgoings have halved and I feel in full control of my finances for the first time in my life. I check into clear score at least once a week. Thanks to clearscore I now have no more sleepless nights and don't wish the month away awaiting my next wage to come in.

Young person

As a young person, (22) I, like many others my age haven’t been taught the life lesson of budgeting and borrowing. Mortgages, loans and the like are alien to me and I feel us young people need someone to guide us through all the complicated parts of budgeting, getting your credit score up and borrowing.
I feel ClearScore really helps me not only budget but gives me the confidence to apply for credit, it gives me good advise on how to make my credit score better and sends me useful tips and information.
I would recommend ClearScore to anyone wanting some helpful straightforward advise and coaching. I just wish I’d found it sooner!

No Score

Well here I go again I believe I posted my thoughts on this app a few days ago thinking I would receive a response on my problems and my comments have disappeared.
Maybe it’s me, however I don’t think that’s the case. I downloaded the app was excited to use knowing I could now managed my finances on my phone great I signed up yeah I see my details my score and I planned to regularly check as I am seeking to rebuild after many years of not actually knowing. Signed out and that is where my problems begin, I have never been able to sign in again although I still receive emails but the website says it doesn’t recognise me many attempts and I still not able to sign in now this is not something I have just used a couple of times this has been over many months now I have decided to delete the app completely.

The most accurate credit score I’ve seen

ClearScore seem to give the most accurate scores that I’ve come across. I’ve used Experian directly and get a completely different score, which made no sense on my circumstances at the time. ClearScore always seems to reflect my current financial situation accurately month on month.
This is a great app if you want to get your finances in order or see a summary of everything at a glance.
That being said, the reason for this review is that I believe there to be a security issue with the log in screen. If you select “remember log in details” (or whatever the equivalent is), then every time you open the app, your email and password are already filled out. Great, it does as it should? The email is displayed and the password uses U+25CF black circles to mask the password. However, it allows you to click “Show password” which turns the ascii values into standard characters, displaying your password in standard characters. This would easily allow someone to change the password on the account and even use this password for other applications, since most people use the same password for everything.

Joke of an app/website

Logged in first time on the website, went through set up no problem. Went to log in the next day and it told me I had to delete my account and create a new one due to an error in my address (that I didn’t enter it using the built in address finder and entered it manually instead, which I did because the address finder wasn’t working). The link to delete my account didn’t work. Finally managed to do it, set up a new account and before I could get to the credit questions I was shown a message saying I had been locked out of my account for 72 hours for “security reasons”. I served my unnecessary and undeserved sentence, tried again, entered my details again and the “next” button wouldn’t work after entering the questions, so I restarted the app and got locked out for another 72 hours, for security reasons, of course. Tried again after another 3 days, got through the questions, it loaded this time, but only with a “sorry there has been a problem please try again” message. So I restarted the app, tried to log in and got a message saying “our records show you already have an account with another email address”, which is entirely untrue and confusing, since I don’t see how they’d be able to tell I had an account with a different email address from me trying to log in with my current email address.
If you logged in to this app and completed the set up, congratulations, never close the app or turn your phone off or refresh your web browser or disconnect your internet or breathe too loudly, as you’ll never be able to access it again.

Really useful and it’s free !

The first thing to remember with this app is that it is free. You can get more in-depth credit reports from other providers, but you pay for that ! For something that doesn’t cost you money, this app is great. You get an overview of your credit situation and it will give you details of any searches made of your credit file ! This is useful, especially if you’re planning to remortgage or buy a new car. I was amazed by how many insurance companies ran a search on my file after I had been on a price comparison site for car insurance. A multitude of companies had done this and I wasn’t even applying for credit, I pay my premium in full. Having an app like this gives me a little bit of control back !

Perfect in helping us plan to buy our first home

We are planning to buy a house shortly, so I’ve been paying a lot of attention to the app recently. It tells me what I need to know, how many points my score has increased by, anything I need to work on to improve it further. Really no issues with the app at all. I would only say the emails are a bit much, constantly telling me I have an update on my app, but it’s only an updated offer for a credit card or the likes. One of the best features is the app tells you what date clearscore last had an update the previous month from one of your providers, ie the bank, or your credit card, so you have a rough guideline of when you need to have anything outstanding cleared if you want to improve the following month. All in all, a very useful app which is a key factor in helping my husband and I plan for the future.

A GREAT App

I have used the App For two months. It provides me with a clear, precise and up to date assessment of my finances. It’s easy to navigate and it has an interesting interacting facility. Makes you want to explore more. Knowing what my credit rating is at any given time and knowing what my finances look like at any given time is a good place to start from when trying to improve your finances. It has encouraged me to look for better % rates on loans and mortgages as well as other monthly costs.
I’ve improved my credit rating without really having any hardship financially and I now have a very high credit rating which opens more financial doors for you.
Thanks for inventing the app! Love it!

SCAM

An absolute scam to try and persuade you to take out a high interest credit card- Good thing there is no monthly fee - in cahoots with the lenders!! As for the coaching to improve your credit score laughable to say the least - no advice-no coaching apart from take out high interest credit card- funny that isn’t it!!! I’ve done everything recommended on my so called to do list....apart from take out so called offers on credit cards and low and behold no change to my credit score ahhhhhhhhh just as suspected right from the off!! Not a great scoring system

I have used credit agencies for years and even credit check as part of my job. I found the scoring system here very bizarre compared to the scores I received from other agencies.
I have used Experian and also use equifax at my work both of which give a completely different score. Also the options like doing well, things to work on and changes are not giving a lot to go on. Which I will explain next and hopefully save you wasting time on an app that seems to have other motives. In my opinion it’s all geared up to help you gain credit. Which they obviously make good commission from and must pay for this free app.
Let’s look at my current scoring 489 out of 700 which seems to be good in terms of my area and above the uk average. Still though 11 things doing well 0 things to improve and 0 changes how can I improve this score??Which even though above average is still way short of the 700.
My Experian score which is updated every 60 days through my Barclay card gives a totally different score. So looking at clear score 489 out of 700 seems very low compared to my 999 out of 999 that Experian have scored. Also knowing my own credit history and payment history this also seems incorrect to me.
I’m my opinion go straight to equifax or Experian if you want a true reflection of your credit score.

Something wrong with ClearScore

Initially thought that this would be very useful and great for checking score progress of ones credit rating. My score was over three hundred and after a number of months of having a recently acquired loan I was then in a fortunate position to pay it off in full after having made every payment on time previously with no issues (good repayment record). However to my utter amazement, shortly after clearing that loan my ClearScore rating plummeted to approx 267 from 300+ despite having not taken out any other loans since paring the previous one early.
Then shorty after this, I had taken out a new credit card (less than a month ago as of this review). In the ClearScore app it stated that not having a credit card goes again you. But hey again to my utter amazement my credit score has gone down 15 points and the only thing that has changed on my credit file, is that of acquiring the new credit card.
What the helm is going on. Could this be because I haven't used the "build your credit" feature in the ClearScore App and that this is happening as a means and method into coaxing and forcing one to use that feature within the app?
I'm very disappointed and concerned.

Half and Half - it's free but that's the issue

Firstly, we all want it 'free' but that comes at a cost. This is minimal information scraped from Equifax. Personally I found that accounts were missing so mine simply says 'there are no utility's linked to your account' - Water, Gas, Electric etc. Secondly my only negative factor is my largest credit card limit is low when I knew I had a default. Now the 'timeline' tab insists on a log in although I'm already in the app and have authenticated via fingerprint.
The 'other' credit agency holds more current and valid information, so whatever way I look at it, this is a glorified way of link selling additional finance, Cards, Loans etc. If you reverse the concept, this is an app to marry you up with additional credit by managing your expectations in presenting limited information regarding your current 'score' and likelihood for acceptance.
Just to be clear the 'other' reference agency made an app to give you access to your score and a paid version for enhanced access to your credit info but have now added the same section for credit recommendations so there must be good referral fees to be made.

New update is disappointing

I am currently using ClearScore to keep track of my credit score while I’m looking for a mortgage on a new home. A lot of websites will say things like ‘get accepted instantly by clicking here!’ And will just forward you to a mortgage broker that they’re in partnership with.
I work in finance, and I know that the best way to get a good mortgage rate with minimal fees is to go to a bank or building society directly, something I thought ClearScore did based on their new mortgage tab.
I was wrong. They just forward you to a mortgage broker, and have a form field for requesting a callback. The credit card and loan eligibility checkers are so in depth and helpful that this is a real disappointment. From now on I will only be using ClearScore for my credit score as I no longer trust them to give me the best deal.

Fantastic App

Clearscore seems to make its money through commissions offered via referrals to third parties for various financial products such as loans, credit cards and mortgages. This isn’t a bad thing, because there is no obligation to buy anything, but you still get a free credit assessment (powered by Equifax), and virtual financial guidance. I can only assume that you would get preferential rates if you do sign up for the financial products offered. So if you ever did need these, it’s a win/win for all. What I found most valuable is the guidance on building my financial profile. I’m working on building my eligibility on a mortgage, therefore their virtual coaching is very helpful. All in all, this is a slick and easy to use app and a great concept. It also has an user experience that truly benefits those wanting to take control of their finances. Highly recommended.
