The Hik-connect app is designed to work with Hikvision series DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras which support Cloud P2P function. It allows you to live view your cameras remotely. All you need to do is creating an account and adding device into the account, then you can enjoy the real-time video from cameras on a global scale. No point in having cctv

Since the last update at 10pm till around 12pm the next day my cameras go off line in the app , have done all the WiFi on /off . App reinstalled and nothing . They are now pointless .

Doesn’t work on iPad

The previous version worked with glitches on both iPad and my iPhone. This current version still works on the phone, but won’t work on the iPad. Although it recognises the cameras it won’t connect.

Great… when it works as it should!

I concur with ACS2703’s review. Since being a Hik-Connect user, every time that there is an update, there is a period that follows where the app loses some or all functionality. Currently when the app opens, my cameras are show offline and I am unable to live view or playback. As stated, the updates need more rigorous trials and testing before being released.

Cannot access alarm panel

The app is good for camera footage but it will never load the alarm panel controls for me. Spends ages loading then crashes. This means I can set or reset the alarm from my phone, only from the physical alarm panel itself which is no good when wanting to set / turn off an area while not at home.

Each new version has a new bug

The app when it works is good. But just about every time they deliver an update it fixes one bug and introduces one that’s just as bad. The last releases would keep logging you out and they fixed that but now the app crashes every time I try to access remote configuration. I have been using this for quite a few years and I’m very frustrated that each version always seems to have some major bug.
You guys need better testing.

Rubbish for ptz cameras….go for guarding expert App👍

Cctv engineer put this latest app on my devices omg had to go back to old app!!!!CCTV Replay is rubbish you set it going you want to skip forward couple of minutes or back the slider bar keeps disappearing and have to touch screen again to get it back.
Ptz camera mode is very poor you can only move camera left right up or down individually, the old app you can move it for example right and up at same time or right and down at same time and so on…. Even zoom pinch the screen to zoom in pinch screen out to zoom out …. What was more simple….
Overall I find it slow and glitchy at times
Hence why gone back to guarding expert app your in more control of the system

Latest update, has resulted in event log no longer working. Tried to get help, but told installer has to come out as they won’t deal with end user. Poor desktop application

ANOTHER UPDATE, ANOTHER ISSUE!

The last update has made looking at playback, from 1 camera, and then skipping to another camera! So you can’t actually watch the playback of any camera that you want! I hope it doesn’t take 2 months to correct this update, like it did the last playback issue! I have no clue what’s going on with them lately, but I’m about to look into other companies and cameras, as can’t go on like this.

Crashing

App crashes trying to download short videos around 30 seconds. The limited functionality is a real pain in the butt, such as not being able to patrols and various others. You have a patrol setup, take over to look at something and the only way the tour starts is from the cctv unit….. major flaw

Can’t change device order

Can’t change order of the devices. All direct access (normal ddns/lan only ) units on top of the list and hik connect type ones at the bottom. We cannot move hik connect connection devices to the top, or local devices under the hik connect ones. It worked before. Update completely messed up the order I set before. Two different persons, two different accounts, same problem! Additionally, shared devices can’t change name! If I’m getting someone’s nvr named “home” for them, that’s not home for me, so it will be logical to change the name at me for “my friends home” instead.

Playback problems

Should have a Timelapse

The app should have a time lapse setting on the timer option for better security purposes and I think if this was added there would be zero issues for people like me since we could see stuff happen in real time for better safety. Not bad, audio not working

2 way microphone never works. Sometimes I can talk from my phone and audio comes out of the camera speakers, but never other way round. This is also very rare. Mic works for around 3-4 minutes. Then it just says error and I cannot speak into microphone again. Keeps saying error for many days or even weeks sometimes. Cameras are fine, but audio saying error is big issue as I don’t have network problems, so it’s an app problem.

Worst App I have come across

I had a number Hikvision cameras installed 2 years ago. The installer placed the recording device in my loft space. During the first six months of installation the software worked fine. However, for the last 18 months the I have been unable to access the cameras. The Company that installed the equipment and software has done an update via a laptop and initial it worked fine but since then nothing the Company maintains that there is nothing wrong and doesn’t want engage in any meaningful dialogue to resolve the problem all I am being told is to climb into the loft and reset the recording device which is a problem as I am 68 and disabled on top of that the Company informed me that they are moving away from domestic use and concentrating on commercial work. I personally would stay away from Hik-Connect as there is no support either from installers and Hikvision themselves it has Been a complete waste of time and money.

Every update makes this app worse, not better

Update - doorbell worked fine for about a week, following updates, but now back offline again on the app after the latest round of changes. Still no response from support and I cannot now access the web portal from my phone to log in either. What an absolute waste of time this device is. I contacted support back in December, as suggested - no response at all, poor customer service. My doorbell now shows offline all the time, rendering it useless and not fit for purpose. I am extremely disappointed with a product that used to work so well and now does not. Please make this app function properly.
Previous review- Every single update makes it worse as I now cannot see live view on my doorbell camera. The system used to work well, but no longer, sadly. I just don’t understand why so many users report similar problems, yet nothing is done to solve them. Go back to basics, please.

Issue after update to 6.2.0

Update: changed phone clock to 24 hour and it’s working now, hopefully developers can fix this issue
After updating to latest version 6.2.0, app gives error while trying to playback videos - ‘No Video in the selected range’. App now only shows live view and all previous recording now shows above error. Luckily my partner did not update the app and video playback works fine with previous version. Seems issue with this update.

Everything was working superb until the most recent app update….cannot view notifications now and it says ‘no video in the selected range’ and just shows the ‘refresh’ symbol. Also, cannot play a days worth of events when looking for something specific. Live view is fine and I’ll just add this is on a new iPhone 15…. Everything still works on old iPhone 13 so won’t be updating anything just yet! To add, iPhone 13 auto updated the app and now that’s not working

Brilliant App except - Needs Automation

Well designed app except it’s missing one very important feature. Automation!
Developers: Can you please add a feature for your Door Control Modules where users can either use Apple Automation or app’s built in timer / conditional OPEN / CLOSE commands to enable users to Open and Close Gates / Doors at set times. This will be a great help for properties with gates to access the main entrance, or even for people who use apps like AirBnB as this will allow them to open and close doors / gates at set time etc.
Hopefully this will get picked up by the developers!

Can’t zoom in While Pause the video in Playback section

When playback a specific camera and then you pause the video and try to zoom in the footage it’s doesn’t allow you. This is some kind of bug in this app. For example you are watching the video in playback section and you wanted to note the number plate of car, when you pause the video it doesn’t allow you to zoom in. This issue needs to be fixed immediately.

Latest version (6) has added delays

Since the latest version 6 changes the loading times of streams has been affected. I am using DDNS connection and the stream loads fine when tapped on but the new version has introduced a huge delay when switching (scrolling) through camera streams. Even to the point that double tapping out and back in loads it faster. Otherwise this app is great I just hope you can recognise and fix the lag that has been introduced

Camera view is fine but

The 'live' picture on ipad / mobile is fine, not great. Pick up a face 10 feet from the door but not read a registration plate at 20+ feet. Again, night vision is fine but not perfect and I have to say the purpose of the cameras is deterrence rather hoping that any unfortunate intrusion would be properly captured. The playback feature in the app is appalling and no longer allows fast scanning of history in the 'updated' app which is a major step backwards sufficient for me to not to have bought Hikvision if I had known beforehand they would take out one of the best/major features of the app.

Not a user friendly app

The camera equipment is decent but unfortunately the app is pretty hopeless for the homeowners. The person that installed our system is no longer in business and the cameras are displaying the wrong time. I have tried several times to change this myself and have had others look at it too, however it appears impossible for me to change the time. This is a basic function that should be easily available to the home owner but unfortunately is not. Other than just looking at the cameras there’s not a lot the end user can do easily as the software and app are mainly designed for the installer which is pretty hopeless. I’ll likely end up dumping the recording box and buying another that I can operate myself unless this is addressed. Shame after spending such a lot of money on the installation and equipment.

Great, but need’s enhancements

Installed this app after having my home security system replaced. The app is great but suffers from a few minor irritations:
1. On iOS devices, when you get a notification on the lock screen, pressing and holding doesn’t show a preview of the image from the camera, so you actually have to log into the app, then press Playback to view the video.
2. In playback mode, there’s no option to adjust the playback speed, 2x, 4x. So if I want to view the footage for a camera from a certain day I have to watch it back in real time.

My cameras, I am 69 years young and 12 years old, that is from the date I was brought back to life after my first of three attempted murders where I was run over on a walk back from the Summerhouse where my wife was booking my 60th birthday, the incident caused two bleeds to my brain which where repaired by the Tremendous Surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, this was followed by two further attempts by the same offenders and by daily provocation and destruction of my property. My HD cameras are recording the activity of two offenders and their corrupt solicitor, I can then use this in evidence for my legal civil and Criminal actions against the people from Number 3 Woodfarm Barns, it is difficult on this long dangerous journey for a person with half a brain after such attacks and surgery, but having visual evidence supports my challenges against the offenders. New update yet again doesn’t work.

Updated this about a month ago and it’s unusable now. This happens almost every time Hik update the app…and they won’t rush about trying to fix it either. Read the other recent reviews.
There are so many issues now.
Takes soooo long to load a camera, often fails and then it will suddenly work. Don’t get too excited though, it won’t won’t for long and often fails again after 5 or 10 seconds.
Don’t turn your phone to landscape. If you do the camera will change to a completely different one.
Don’t zoom in either because that too will change the camera.
The app randomly freezes. It could be for 5 seconds, it could be for a minute or more.
Don’t waste your time changing your camera settings. None of that will make a difference.
Don’t waste your time messaging the app developers…they won’t answer….although to be fair they answered me once asking if I had updated the app!!!! Yes, that’s why it’s broken!!!!
HIKVISION used to be market leaders, not just my opinion but they actually were. But to leave your app in this state after an update, and it happens every time now, is just unacceptable.

Video quality good but…

For me it used to be better. Since the big update it’s just not been the same… when I open my app I want to see all my windows at once like it used to be, yet I can only see one window and scroll through, which is more time consuming if you hear something and want to see what it is asap etc… You can view all 4 windows at once but it’s not a permanent option like before and it’s really annoying for me.

New update doesn’t respect aspect ratio

Since the new update with the redesigned interface, the camera aspect ratio is not respected anymore.
When you have a camera that is 5 megapixel, the image is squashed in height. The ratio should be 4:3 but now is 16:9 or something similar which results in the camera feed being warped and squashed.
I’m not sure how this got into production as this would be a show stopper level issue at my workplace. Is this another product owner driven release to “just get it out”?
Even after a few updates, this still hasn’t been addressed, and I’m highly disappointed.
Other issues are:
- the app doesn’t respect the os level rotation/orientation lock, and seems to just rotate the app anyway.
- video playback is choppy and skips forwards and backwards on events (local and remotely)
- cannot reorder camera systems on the main page, my owned system is placed under a shared system. I want to be able to see my system at the top as it’s most important

Don’t bother!

Congratulations. You took a functional working app and successfully made it worthless, unfriendly, not intuitive, and infuriating that it keeps making me select the camera I want, when I eventually work out what the hell I did to show them the first time. You succeeded in making me want a different cctv that I can actually reliably access with a few clicks. By the time I work out what’s happened and how to add everything back my home will have been emptied in it’s entirety and the thief’s half way to a different continent. Won’t need playback because by then it would need aging software to show what the thief looks like so much time later!

PLEASE REVERT TO PREVIOUS VERSION!

Not sure if the developers even read these reviews, but surely there are enough users saying the same thing to know that you’ve absolutely ruined what was a fantastic app.
People and businesses RELY on this and you’ve made it unusable for some and terrible for most.
Camera feeds are no longer displaying in HD, despite toggling between ‘Basic’ and ‘HD’.
The huge white border at the top of the iPad screen makes the viewing area smaller and harder to see cameras at night - serves no purpose whatsoever.
The same white margins also appear on the iPhone app either side when in portrait mode.
Line crossing notifications no longer work, so one of the best and most comforting security features has now gone.
The list goes on…
Why ruin a perfectly good app? Why ‘fix’ what wasn’t broken? I really don’t understand why developers feel the need to constantly update things that do not need it. Are they trying to justify their salary?!
If it works , please leave it alone! It did work - very well. Now it doesn’t and looks terrible. And this is progress?

Bad update

Really dislike the new UI. Very unintuitive and bad development. Too many icons which make it harder to use. Functionally its slower. Loads slower and generally most aspects to get to what you want or to view the live feed are all slower. Looking at ways to rollback my version. Please, please fix these issues and for the love of god. Do much more bug testing and real user experience testing. Then when you push a large update like this, be transparent and show us, the user, how good it is and how many beta testers you had that thought it was great!
Really disappointed and now looking to switch from hikvision software.

The play back function is pre historic. Why you can’t get to a certain time and then either fast forward or rewind is ridiculous. Instead if you are trying to find some thing which/ may only be 3 seconds long you have to scroll along the bar that may just 20/30 seconds at a time, that’s after it’s loaded up after Rachel scroll too.
I’ve just looked for an incident that was outside my house, the whole thing lasted 20 seconds and it took me an hour to trace through it all. Not good enough

Notification images missing

Have had 5 cameras installed by professional company and was quite happy. However started not getting alerts when system should have triggered an alert. Large tractor and trailer passed, no alert. Then a cat crossed the trigger point - I get an alert! Latest problem is that I get no ‘snap shot’ images on the notifications screen - they were there after installation, but in the last few days have disappeared.
Little thing like this are annoying!

Has many glitches

Good picture quality and easy to use app. However after a while, notifications disappear from the list of notifications. When receiving a notification, if you click to save it, who knows where it goes as it’s not in the apps pictures and videos folder as I’d expect and it’s not in your devices pictures or videos. I saved one where a man was trying to break into my car but 2 weeks later it’s gone and only I have access to the app. I’d like to be able to make changes to the notification perimeters that were set but I’ve no idea how to do that as I can’t seem to find instructions or a user guide. Poor I’m afraid.
Update- app keeps crashing when scrolling through notifications to delete entries.

Lost ‘my device’ on both MacBook and iPad.

This app was working nicely on MacBook and iPhone, and then on my new iPad. Suddenly my device isn’t showing on the MacBook, same happened on iPad but a delete and reinstall got it working, but same didn’t work on MacBook. So beware this app may not work on all apple products. Edit, now lost playback on both iPad and iPhone. and have to constantly reinstall on iPad if I accidentally close the app. Please sort it

A great app but needs more integration.

This app is great but needs ANPR added so that clients can access ANPR activity and functions of their NVRs and administer ANPR white/black-lists. It would be great to see more integration with entryphone/access control giving users the ability to view activity and manage users and entrycodes. Clients are moving to mobile centric platforms and want this level of integration. The AX-Pro alarm system shown how easy this all should be.

Hopeless - Useless App

This is the most frustrating App experience I have ever had. Put that in the context of this being a home CCTV security system and I travel abroad regularly, it is especially annoying. My challenge is that the live camera stream is more often offline than it is online. What aggravates that experience is there is no apparent reason why the cameras suddenly go offline. Equally, there is no apparent useful help on how to resolve the problem on any of the FAQ or Help functions in App or through a general web search. I have even sent a frustrated message through the in App function. No reply has been forthcoming. Frankly, I’m considering terminating the connection with Hik-Connect and find another provider.
If you read this Review before purchasing this system - FIND another provider.

Struggling

Connection in the house is excellent and yet I’m having problems with network when it comes to cameras at home and very often no access to surveillance. Otherwise it is excellent when it works.
I would also like to see periods of activity highlighted when it comes to the app. I can access it on the device when logged in directly but on the phone app it all looks the same which means I have to look for activities manually throughout the 24 hour period.

Dave’s CCTV

Having had two yes two CCTV systems before, I was about to give up due to both poor equipment and poor installations, then I was introduced to this system; the installation engineers were brilliant and were able to use all of the existing cabling which saved a small fortune.
Once the initial installation was complete the commissioning took about half an hour. The training the engineers gave was also brilliant. This system is extremely easy to use however, I did experience a few issues of failure of two cameras within the first 6 months but the engineers were extremely quick to replace free of charge. The only other criticism I have is the few seconds lag whilst watching it live, apart from that it has been pretty good.

Doesn’t work on Playback

Had our system installed last week. Despite the quality of the sub stream being reduced to min, it freezes after say 15 secs. This is a major feature of the system we bought and it’s not working. Engineer been back and spent 2.5 hrs trying to sort it and couldn’t. He then tried to Playback his own cameras at home and found he had the same problem. Still not sorted

Very poor

This app is extremely poor. Live feed is ok. But labelling and ordering of the views for each camera won’t save - and playback is hopeless. I can't get notifications as to when there’s movement - so I can't see if anyone has walked around my property without watching 24 hours of footage - and in real time. Even that is near-on impossible, as playback constantly jumps back to the beginning point of the time period selected, freezes and skips between different camera views (playing the same view twice even though four different camera views may have been selected. Everyone else I know uses arlo - which will tell you which camera detects movement and when, and then plays that back. Go with any other app than this one, as it is extremely poor and I’m deeply regretting my choice of cameras and app which were extremely expensive for a near unusable system - which was professionally installed by a local security company.

Good but a couple of issues in my opinion.

PLEASE add +\- 10 seconds skip buttons when trying to view back footage on the app!! It drives me insane trying to scroll and find an event on the timeline and skipping whole minutes at a time despite being as careful as possible (surely I’m not the only one that finds this annoying?!). I wish I could add a ringtone to the intruder alert on my phone too. I can only select a text tone at the moment which never wakes me up in the middle of the night (although this may be an issue with my make of phone rather than the app). Apart from that, the app is great! 👍🏻

Quality is great, application is lousy.

We have had 5 HIK cameras for three years now. The pictures are fantastic, the set up is reliable. But pretty pointless - we got burgled and we couldn’t send the police the video of the burglar because you can only use the HIK player. The police are not allowed to install software on their computers. So I had an ongoing row with HIK for six months. We videoed the video in the end and caught our burglar but I find it hard to forgive HIK. At a very traumatic time for us we needed help and didn’t get it.
It should be a question to ask when installing CCTV. HIK is not cheap.

Apps not let us change name

Hi all. Hopefully a quick one if you’ll bear with me; I previously had a 4 channel Hikvision NVR (DS-7604NI-K1-4P(B)) and upgraded it to the 8 channel equivalent (DS-7608NI-K2-8P) as it’s predecessor was struggling to cope with the 4nr cameras running at 4K and kept randomly rebooting multiple times per day.
The new NVR has been setup with identical settings as the previous and everything is working as expected with the exception of the Hik-Connect app (note: all firmware is up to date).
I can add the NVR and cameras to the app no problem and stream the live feed and playback clips etc, but I cannot rename any of the cameras in the app. They’re all showing as “camera 1@DXXXXX[serial number]” etc.
Previously I could name them whatever I liked (usually to match their names in the NVR) so that when I got push notifications through to my phone for line crossing or intrusion events it was easy to quickly identify where the event has occurred but now it just tells me the camera number which is just irritating.
If I go into the settings in the Hik-Connect app (Settings > Linked Camera) and press the pencil icon to “Edit Device Name”, it lets me type a new camera name but when I hit save it just hangs for about 10 seconds then comes up with “Failed to connect to the server”.

Fix the playback...it doesn’t work

I have read so many reviews saying that if you drop the frame rates on sub-streams then it is a great app, this completely misses the point that the playback function of daytime videos is unusable and has been for years. The system needs to be changed to allow playback...simple. It plays fine from midnight until daylight kicks in and then you get ‘network connection unstable’ messages. If you can’t handle the bandwidth, don’t load the whole video from 12 midnight - let me enter a specific time I want to start playback from and reduce the load overhead. Please sort this out because the app is otherwise good.

Cannot playback

The App just isn’t fit for purpose. It’s cost me thousands of £ having the 4K cameras installed and I am extremely impressed with the hardware. It’s this app which lets it down and is so infuriating.
I get notifications daily but can never playback the videos. I only ever get the message - video unstable. It’s clear that when trying to playback, the app tries to load the whole day starting from 12am, when you just want to view the small clip of the time of the notification. The reason we think this is the case is because you can view playback at midnight and shortly after, but from 8am onwards you cannot playback any video from any notifications you get! Isn’t that the whole point of having a state of the art CCTV system, so you can monitor what’s going on and view the playback!?
Interestingly they have a feedback function which I have mentioned these issues directly to hik-connect but this is obviously completely ignored. There is even a forum about this very issue for others online. Hopefully this will get fixed soon but from experience don’t hold your breath!

Very reliable camera and App

I have been using these cameras for two months. Very happy with the app. I have connected it via wifi and see crystal clear videos. And when I am away, I could see live from my mobile as I have connected it to a mobile wifi device. I also get notifications when there is a movement. But every small movement are also notified. But I can keep it in silent and browse the notifications later whenever i am free, as few seconds get recorded and stored in the cloud when there are movements. Over very reliable device and app.

Great app but needs more features.

Have used two brands of cameras. Swann and hikvision. When researching was looking for:-
1. Affordability
2. Ease of installation
3. Quality of picture
4. Remote access and playback
1. Swann is more affordable
2. Swann is easier to install. It’s practically plug and play as the manufacturer has made everything standard. Hik needs a lot more work by someone with a bit more practical understanding and has time to read up on what they need to do.
3. Hik is hands down better quality.
4. Swanns new app ‘AlwaysSafe’ is amazing. You can set up everything on your system remotely. Hiks app is great but it could learn a lot from Swann.
In conclusion Swann is really easy to use and offers people with little or no knowledge of cctv systems a really good experience.
*IF* you have a little more more money and are practically minded I would recommend hik. It is just a much better quality all round. It just needs to catch up on its app and the system would be perfect.

Notification issue in latest release

Generally a good app as long as the system is configured correctly in the first place. However, the latest update has introduced a bug with the notifications in that the the number of notifications keeps increasing on the app icon, even though you’ve been into the app and cleared/deleted all the notifications. The next time you have a new notification the number next to the app icon shows something like 73 which is the total number of notifications since installing the update, not the number of new notifications. Please fix this annoying bug!

Spectacular Views!

We had two cameras to fitted to each side of our house recently. This has brought us peace of mind when we are asleep and some degree of assurance regarding security of our property when we are further away from home.
The clarity of the images day and night are beyond our expectations!.. the quality of the Audio is also very sharp.
We really like the ability to remotely check up on the property at any time of day or night..and the ability to review footage if we wish to check something.
The Engineer who installed these cameras was also excellent. Giving us a thorough over view of whet we could expect once he had installed each device.. and then spent a good deal of time connecting them up to our phones... and gave us a practical workshop how to use the system. He was very methodical and thorough. We can Highly recommend him for the work he carried out for us... and his choice of product.
It was a very good price and a Very good decision to go ahead and have them installed.... we’ve had them for about 6 weeks now... and feel confident to recommend this brand of product. We have no regrets, and feel it’s been a very fair price for a very high spec. We both agree that we wish we had them

Good App

Smooth and easy to use. Good quality and interface.
Could be improved by allowing devices to stream all number of available cameras at full screen size. For example 6 cameras on screen Instead of displaying the preset screens 4,9,12. Also playback at the same time streaming on multiple cameras would be better. Also removing touchID/password/ and especially faceID would be good. As taking time to enter security during night or times of motion detection can be frustrating. Doesn’t need an app lock. Also daily notifications for motion when IR night mode is activated is hugely annoying.

Playback

When saving a video, you have to capture it live. It would be handy to mark In/Out points. Also photos have to be captured when the video is playing. It would be nice to be able to do this with the video paused.
Timeline navigation, each camera has to navigate separately rather than all being in sync when scrubbing through the timeline. All cameras being in sync would be a handy addition.
Finally, when saving photos/videos direct to your phone. They’re squished from left to right instead of displaying correctly.

Missing functionality but otherwise fairly intuitive (if you are a tech-head)

We had our system professionally installed but I have had to download and read the software manual to work out how best to configure this as the installers did not show me how to do it. We have had zooming cameras fitted (large domestic premises) and although the app allows me to zoom I cannot refocus the cameras, which since the lens does not follow focus as you zoom in or out renders the zoom function effectively useless unless I am at the base unit. Come on HiKvision, update the app so I can zoom AND focus, then I’ll rate you higher.

Not a happy customer

I have just had a hik vision CCTV system installed. I am unable to play notification videos on a iPhone XS Max. When I try to play the video when the notification appears it says ‘failed to search for the video’. I have logged into a number of different devices (iPhones XS, 5C and iPad Air 2) and it works fine. Sadly they aren’t my devices! I have also restarted my iPhone from scratch just in case there was a bug in the update and it still doesn’t work. The engineer who installed it has rang your support team and they said there’s nothing they can do until you do an update? Not a very happy first time Hikvision customer! Please resolve ASAP! Thanks

Worst app ever used!!!

Update: this app did improve and became fairly useable if clunky, however now since the last update this app will not even open on my iPhone XR. Tried restarting phone but app is not even opening up today, did at first but not now 👎🏼
That says it all really, hardly worked before update, even worse now, pathetic!! Wouldn't have got these cameras if I'd known about this! Just updated and made it even worse, constantly showing offline message and making you log back in! My system was professionally installed, I did not fit them myself as one reviewer said the poor reviews must be from people who had fitted their own cameras, they were professionally fitted , the good reviews are probably from the people who are fitting them.... Please employ a decent app developer the cameras are otherwise good!

Working better now

Like a lot of people on here I was quite angry being almost forced over to Hik connect and then trying to use buggy software but now, after many updates, it really is a joy to use.
Works well on 4G as long as I don’t try to load 16 cameras, that should be obvious really.
We have 10 locations on the app and like the simplicity of adding new colleagues and locations, very professional.

Poor review made in error

I have completely removed my previous review which stated that this app was worse than useless - I was completely wrong.
After further investigation it turns out that the problem with poor connection, static pictures and general rubbishness was entirely at my end. The way I had connected the system’s base unit to the router (using a device which sent signals through the existing house wiring to the router) was inadequate, meaning that the signal being processed by the app was inconsistent at best.
I have now plugged the system directly to the router via a cable and the app appears to be working flawlessly. It’s still not terribly user-friendly, but that’s a different story...
All I need to do now is work out how to send the signal wirelessly (and efficiently) to the router or find a way to hide the cable on its way through the house.
Apologies to Hikvision.

Great App

This is the first app i have ever rated. It is extremely irritating seeing poor reviews on this app. I have installed 1000s of Hikvision Products and have never had a problem. If it doesn't work it has been configured incorrectly! As an installer we cant afford to have an app that doesn't work. This is professional equipment thats made to last. If it doesn't work please find a professional installer that knows what they doing. Hats off to Hikvision its the most reliable equipment we have ever installed!

Outstanding app for Remote viewing CCTV

I’m not usually one for reviewing apps but couldn’t help writing one after seeing the poor reviews. As a professional CCTV installer this app has to be the best one around. Once your system is properly configured it works a dream. The latest update has made it a lot easier to use as well. The door intercom system is also well designed. 5 stars to Hikvision for developing this! I can only imagine that the poor reviews are from people who have tried to set their systems up themselves without knowing the first thing about Hikvision products. If you want something doing properly get a professional in!

It doesn’t work!

Updated both my iPhone and iPad with this but now all cameras are showing as ‘device is off line’ and consequently no pictures can be seen. I’ve deleted and reinstalled, tried by WiFi only and G3/4 only - nothing! It lists the hardware but nothing can be switched on or off and the print throughout is ‘greyed’. I admit to my shortcomings with such things but I am unable to find out either where if off I am doing something wrong (unlikely as all I have done is update the app) or what steps I can take to eliminate the problem.
