I have been playing CodyCross for many years, but I’m finding now there are too many adverts, they are coming up even before I start to play the game and they are coming up after every set I play and are very difficult to delete, and often I stop playing as the ads. Do not disappear or provide X to delete. I know you have to have ads. But they stay on the screen for too long and it’s very frustrating and I can be bothered to wait for them to pass on, so not playing very often now.And that’s why I have only give the game 1 star

Why the shields when I play daily
I enjoy CodyCross and have played it since 2018 but I don’t understand why every few weeks I have shields activated…I play at some time everyday…and rarely miss a day…yet the shields (usually 2) are applied . Adverts getting too evasive
The Apple TV advert just locks up no hidden button (I could find) after it runs have to close app… and this is getting worse to a point where the game is unusable. We all know free means advertising but come let’s get real. The adverts should be engaging… at the moment they DRIVE ME AWAY from the product and I suspect MANY MORE.

Good app with annoying Temu ads
Been playing this for a couple of years. Great app with occasional ads. Now seems to have been take. Over by Temu ads, which load a Temu webpage even when you click the “x” button. Very frustrating as you have to delete the web page then return to the game. Hope these particular ads get removed.
Pay to remove ads is around £4.99 a week. Seems very expensive!
Would rather pay a one off fee but no option for this. Would be a five star review if you could do this for a small fee.

Great game - Terrible new update
I love this game and play it every day. I feel that you could be rewarded better for longevity played (over 1500 consecutive but get about 50 bonus coins). And the new library update is so complicated to understand what is happening and spend coins I don’t even use it anymore. It wasn’t broken, no need to fix it

As it probably explains above; love the game, I’ve generally accepted the updates because of the basic premise. The only issue I’ve had is recovering lost days; you get the option to use tokens to not lose your streak, I’ve done this several times only to find it’s still taken me back to day one. I’ve stopped doing this now but annoying that I’ve lost those tokens for no reason.

Devastating bug lost everything
I would have given this a much higher rating but I am beside myself over a bug. I had over 700 day streak of doing the daily word. I downloaded this puzzle a few years back and loved it and not a day went by without me having a game. Unfortunately that Royal Kingdom advert which seems to go on for ages has ruined it . Have played this game for years and always loved CodyCross. He was so cute and now he’s terrifying! I don’t care what features are being added. I will never appreciate the change. The library has been changed too and loved collecting the books before. Might look for something else similar as the new look is disturbing and the books are far too expensive now.

This is a game that I have enjoyed for several years now. I have many nice memories of playing this game with my wife, and I continue playing now in other languages to practice.
What always pulled me through the game was filling the library with books. I love saving up my bitz and choosing which book to buy. With the latest update however, the game has essentially been ruined for me.
Now instead of three books being available for 500 each, there is only one, and they have added one for 10,000 and one to buy for real money. I already thought it crazy that there is no purchase to remove adverts permanently, only for a period of time, but now with this latest update, I am seriously considering moving onto other games. It feels disrespectful to be honest.

Addictive and calming
I’ve been loving this game for the past few months. The only issues I have are 1. You can’t flip it to landscape mode meaning you can use your iPad stand when playing, sounds trivial but it’s quite annoying and 2. The mini crosswords get very samey - same questions and answers are re-used a lot. Also I switched from easy to medium difficulty but there’s no difference? Apart from that it’s fun!

Love love love this game!
I have had this game for literal years now, and I’ve never went more than 2 days without playing it. I especially love the new secret trails levels where you match symbols to letters as you guess the answers! The devs are always updating this game with quirky new fun additions without spoiling the game/changing old ways unlike other games when they usually update they change how you do everything or how it works and it spoils it. Highly recommend this game

Great concept
I’ve been playing this game for a while and really enjoy. I don’t mind ads in games but this is saturated by violent useless unadulterated crap. Adverts encourage drowning, burning electrocution,crushing and impalement of royalty and young women. Young homeless single mothers their children are subjected to freezing in squalor or you can watch inane bubble popping.
Ads go on and on only to be promptly rejected, when they don’t lock up the game, then force a restart.

Ads Spoil Game Play
Adverts after EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. My goodness so annoying. And £9.99 to turn them off is insane!! (I know this also provides other features but they’re not necessary; I only want rid of ads. Think what other subscriptions are £10, Apple Music, Netflix etc. One could get a lot more for £10)
A tip: I force close the game after every level, I don’t have to watch an annoying advert and it takes the same time to load back up as it would to watch one anyway, possibly less time actually. I’m also playing less due to ads, would play a lot more without them.

Awesome game!!
I came across this game by chance, and I’m so glad that I did! It keeps your mind sharp.
Easy to navigate, great ‘boosters’. Includes daily puzzles as well as the regular levels, love that! Also gives you the option to change difficulty mode.
I would give 5* if there were more FREE ways to collect tokens/coins, as you need them to use your boosters. Winning levels will get you small amounts, or you have to do in-app purchases for more. That is the only thing I would change.

Adverts
The game challenges you in many ways. It asks you to dig into your memory bank from childhood to adulthood in order to finish the section you are doing. For this I have given the game 5 stars. The downside is that I had to watch the same advert 10 times in succession this morning. Over the day I have seen the same advert in excess of thirty five times. I am not going to by Persil nor am I going to use an exercise video which seems to be second shown advert. Please show a wider range of adverts.

Great Game
I have spent many an hour procrastinating on this game. It’s a lot of fun, very well made and the ads aren’t persistent and constant. Highly recommend to anyone who likes a crossword. Multiple game modes mean you can play by yourself leisurely or against others competitively. Also surprisingly educational and great for improving trivial knowledge. Highly rate it- fun and well-made game!

Don’t pay to lose the ads
I paid for CodyCross as I enjoy playing it to kill time but the adverts were relentless and annoying. Having PAID to remove the ads, I expect to never see an ad ever - but after every completed game there’s another. Sick of it! Have sent complaint to makers too.
Also, on completing worlds, you are awarded ten coins to purchase assistance. You get told you have won the coins but they never get credited!!! I’m on level 382 now, five games a level - that’s quite a bit of playing right there, and an awful lot of uncredited coins too. Had enough now.

I used to enjoy this
As the header says, I used to love playing this game. However, I don’t seem to be able to play it anymore. Why? Because of the lack of ability to earn coins/tokens to play the packs levels. Instead, I watch videos to give me boosts that I don’t want, need or use. I’ve got loads of them just sat doing nothing. Instead, I get to play 1 pack game a day thanks to the daily bonus. Why can’t I have some coins and enjoy the game. I don’t even mind the videos. But now it’s a once a m th game or 3 minute pack a day. Why did you change it and make people move away from enjoying your game?

So I have had this game longer than any of my other games and my whole family has this game.I think it’s the best game ever because you can go head to head with you family or random people and the word you have to solve are so much fun. There is really nothing wrong with this game. If you’re trying to find a game where you can solve puzzles and go head to head I highly recommend this app.

Amazing but...
CodyCross is my favourite crossword app. Having a hidden word in the crossword is unique to this game, the interface is fun and easy to use and there’s a multiplayer mode which is great!
However, the monthly subscription puts me off. What happens when they stop making free levels? Will I be forced to reset my progress and start again? It would be so much better if there was a one time payment for the app.
Additionally, the ads are way too frequent. I sometimes turn off my data and WiFi just to avoid seeing the adverts because they interrupt the flow and ruin gameplay. Despite this, I’d still encourage people to download the app.
Also, the CodyCross team are very efficient at responding to queries, they usually reply within a few days which is great!

The best
My favourite mobile game. Can entertain for hours. No improvements to be made so far. I’ve had the app for about a year. There is an ad after every level but the levels are long enough so it’s acceptable. And you can skip the ad after 5 seconds anyway. Fantastic game and highly recommend to any smart person. Also if the levels get too difficult, you can always look the clues up on the internet and you’ll get the answers.

This is such a good game. HOWEVER, I hadn’t played it in quite some time and now I have rediscovered it you need tokens to be able to access each puzzle? How are you supposed to play as you are only given 2 tokens every 24 hours which means you can only do one little puzzle a day? You used to be able to complete so many puzzles straight away and I’m certain you didn’t need tokens to do so and if you need more you must pay for them. As another user said you can earn 1 token by watching an advert but each puzzle costs 2 tokens and you can only watch 2 ads for 2 tokens every hour. I don’t want to have to keep checking back every hour and leaving again so quickly. I think I will have to delete the app as it’s not worth it to only spend a few minutes on it each day. Wish the app could go back to how it used to be as it is one of my favourite games I have played.

Great app but.....
This is a great app but once you get to 840 game, it stops and the only way to go on is to purchase the game. What’s even worse is that the money is taken each month unless you cancel and the. You’re back to no game at all. Real shame and good job there are other games who don’t do this. UPDATE......
Really impressed with developer when they got in touch to say they were working on updates. So I feel I must change my initial score of 2 stars to 5.

Recommended and AMAZING
Perhaps this is the first time I feel like writing a review for an app. This app is just amazing. Every single detail in amazing. From music to the puzzles to the concept, etc.... it’s so soothing and helps me relax when I’m not in my best mood. Unlike other puzzle apps that makes you give up and frustrated, this app is satisfying and well made. Totally recommended.
Oh and I sent an email once because my game has mistakenly reset, they replied fast and in a super friendly way; they put me back where i was. I loved that. Thanks for this app👍🏻

Great game but asks for money too much
This is really addictive and I love the game itself. But I can only play a couple of levels a day because it’s really hard to get more tokens without spending actual money. Each level costs 2 tokens to unlock but can only earn 1 token per advert and it only lets you watch 2 ads per hour. I’m not going to keep returning to the game once an hour to play one level and then leaving again.

Deleted after 5 puzzles
I managed 5 puzzles but quickly go fed up with stupid questions, which in my eyes are not “general knowledge”! Like naming characters from lord of the rings or marvel comics!? If your not a total tv head then you just won’t know the answers..... when did characters of books and magazines become “general knowledge”? Maybe for famous bits of literature, Shakespeare or such but marvel comics and lord of the rings?! A bit specific if you ask me. The visuals are for children, I just want an adult crossword game please.

Repetitive
I haven’t worked out if this game is for adults or children the clues are either extremely easy or difficult. It is somewhat enjoyable but words are very repetitive and come up several times throughout the game but with different clues - one in particular is MONARCH. This does spoil the game and I wouldn’t spend any money on the game because of this repetition. They’re not really clues either, they’re more like questions making it easy to complete levels quickly. On a positive it’s a game you can sit and play with your children to help them learn new words or fill in the letters. It’s relaxing and the keyboard sounds are pleasant.

Ruined by the ads
I downloaded this a while ago and played it a lot. It was very good and well made.
Skip forward a couple of months and I open the app to play. I notice that it has been updated and looks slightly different in places but also there is an annoying ad after every single level and they’re those annoying ads for the ‘get the girl’ or the ‘save the fish’ games that are NOTHING LIKE the actual gameplay in those games and you have to watch the first 5 seconds before you can skip then you have to wait a few seconds and skip the second part of the ad. This happened after every single round and it ruined the gameplay for me.
I looked into paying to remove ads but you have to do something called buy tokens to remove ads for a limited time and I couldn’t figure out how to buy tokens anywhere or how much they were so I’ve deleted the app as there’s no way I can play it when there are this many ads that are so annoying!

Fix the token issue!
Generally speaking I love CodyCross, but there is an issue with watching video adverts to earn 3 extra tokens (each time). 7 out of 10 times it doesn’t work. I’m touching the icon/link in the top right corner but invariably nothing happens; the icon blinks when touching it, but that’s it (most of the time). Sometimes when touching the free tokens link it cuts the sound off. [By the way, this was happening before the latest update, so whatever bug this is, it’s still buzzing around.] Also questions are starting to get repetitive, and now there is an unrewarded advert at the end of every puzzle you complete. That’s ok, but please fix the issue with the ads we get rewarded for watching. Still a fan despite the gripes. :)

Crossword
Very good, interesting game only problem is the repetitive words although shown in a different format but same answers as two pr three levels before. Would be good to include more questions relating to United Kingdom as majority is American format.
Apart from this it’s a good app. Oh sorry the bonuses you get make them more available in order to open up a letter on the boards as sometimes difficult to obtain them even if clicked on. Thanks

LOVE CodyCross...
Found this game when it came up as an advert and downloaded it straight away. So glad I did, I really like it, I am on level 68 and I am hoping it doesn't crash further on as other people have mentioned.
I recommend this game. It keeps you entertained and makes me want to carry on a do further levels. Other games I have got bored with but this is a winner. Thank you CodyCross ❤️

Fun and Intelligent
CodyCross is full of puzzles that sometimes have you racking your brain. It uses a combination of big smart words and simple everyday words. It combines crossword and trivia very well.
I also want to mention how nicely designed it is. The design is nice to look at and looks as though a considerable amount of care went into it, much more than other games of its kind.
Ads are usually skippable after a few seconds and don’t pop up so frequently that it ruins the gameplay (unlike some other apps). There is also no pushing to spend money, although it is an option should you wish to, so it doesn’t feel like a pay to win sort of thing.
You can play as many puzzles as you like without having to wait for some kind of key or heart meter to fill up which is a nice touch.
There are hundreds of unique puzzles which I can imagine took a lot of time and hard work.
Mad respect to the team behind this app!

Starts off well
But becomes buggy around level 190+
Freezes up, offers three free tokens but won’t let you click through, offers a replacement token at end of round (when you have used one or more) and again, won’t let you click through. Ads are a minor irritant, more annoying is when you offer constructive criticism as the makers request (despite claiming to be targeted at UK market, my version is full of American spellings and words and terms never used in UK - eg. Pearl Harbor in place of “Harbour” and Kerosene in place of Paraffin) the reply is that no change is needed. Ho hum, three stars is probably too generous.

Good game with a few buts....
Am at the final stage only 2 more to go and the gremlins seem to have taken over. It freezes 3 times so far and it’s quite annoying. I’m playing the easy version and the majority of the questions are answerable some are just impossible but I’ve preserved because I’m determined to finish it. I have enjoyed it because I reckon at my age I need some brain stimulation, but all those adverts are a pain. I find also that every stage seems to take forever and a lot of the questions are repetitive. But I’ll continue regardless.

Ambiguity
A compelling game but the rationale behind asking which country and which language you speak leaves a lot to be desired; some questions asked are American-based, some spellings are American English, some United Kingdom-based questions have American English spellings, some United Kingdom-base questions are wildly out of date. Perhaps you should create a set of questions for each country and occasionally check their accuracy? Also, there are a lot of repetitions with solutions having either the same clues or the same clue asked in a slightly different way. Given that there are currently almost 171,500 words in the English dictionary you have a good selection that you COULD use!

This is my favourite game which is probably perceived as sad for a 14 year old but I love it! The only thing I would say is that some of the questions repeat themselves which is understandable as I believe it would be hard to find answers which perfectly match the length and letter arrangement needed. It is not necessarily the questions that repeat themselves but the answers do too. But still, I love this game, it’s fun, addictive and makes me feel smart!

Ad sounds ... grrrr
Firstly, I LOVE Cody cross and While I’m quite happy to have adverts (I like finding new things available and often buy from them) I love that CodyCross allows you to skip the ads you aren’t interested in fairly quickly. But oh no, why oh why do the ads suddenly override the sound settings. I’m often playing in an environment where it’s not polite to suddenly have an ad blare our from my phone. I’ve not found it happen before using Cody cross but suddenly today it is. I’ve check my sound settings. I’m now too scared to play it at such times. Sorry I’ve had to reduce my rating until it’s fixed !!

I love this game. No matter how much you think you know it can still catch you wondering why your answer is wrong.
It is a wonderful app that has been given a lot of thought by the developer(s) and besides being a great app is also an ideal learning tool for people of all ages who think they know everything only to find out they don’t!

Awesome game but....
This game is amazing and really challenges the brain, it keeps people mentally fit. I just got it and love it already but it’s slightly unfair. EVER so slightly unfair. Some questions that are given are unanswerable for children. Not many kids would know the answers to some of the questions as they might never of heard it, not everyone knows every actor. If CodyCross could just base these answers on mainly general knowledge ( a question like ‘all planets revolve around one’- a star) and maybe a few questions to test movie or book knowledge but very well known. Not anything to do with movies or books made for adults - children should not and probably haven’t read or watched these things. This would make the game way more fun.

Deceiving
Started off as a fun little game I could play before bed, or to pass the time. At the beginning it was easy, which I liked as I used this app to try and wind my mind down before bed, but it’s gone from too easy to way too hard in a matter of a few levels! Clues are also very over-complicated; When I use hints to finally get the words it’s usually such a simple word, but the clue has made it sound like something else! Bit gutted as I enjoyed this app to wear my over-active mind down before bed after a long hard day of work, but it went from 0 to 100 real quick! It’s not fun anymore, so I’m deleting it now :(

Missing facts!
I recommend this game!
I love this game, but there is one thing i think is missing. When you complete a puzzle it reveals a word or phrase, i think it would be a good idea to have a fact or some information about the word or phrase. Some of the words aren’t words some people will come across very often so it would be great if we could learn what it means or something about it!
Other than that i have no issues with this game and love that there isn’t too many ads!

This word game is fabulous!!!! It’s fun, the graphics are amazing and you have the option to play free. You can however pay to open other packages.
I’ve never had any problems with this game ie. no glitches, freezing or lost levels. If your looking for a really good word game then this is for you, especially if you don’t like the thousands of games that are all the same but portray to be different.

An “ology” for every level
Firstly, I should say that I do really enjoy this game. I’ve played it for longer than I’ve ever played any other game. I usually play in the evening to help me wind down from work. I like that there are many different difficulties within the levels and the varied topics covered by the questions themselves.
The ads are not too invasive and are certainly reasonable considering the obviously massive workload that goes into developing and maintaining such a game. I’m on group 212, and when you consider that there are 5 levels per group that’s well over a thousand puzzles so far. Honestly I’m more impressed that this game has kept me playing for this long and I haven’t had to spend a single penny.
So why have I only rated 4 stars? Well, there is 1 particular word (or, rather, part of a word) that keeps coming up over and over again, more than any other, and that is “ology”. Every level seems to have a clue like “study of [insert weirdly specific subject]”. Some levels have more than one. It’s getting a little old now and to a certain extent taking the challenge out of the question since you automatically know what the last 5 letters will be.

Very frustrating
A brilliant game with very obscure words I have. Ever heard of and possibly never hear again and my general knowledge is very wide. Also they offer you bonus letters but a lot of the time they never give them to you. They just make watch their advertisement and give you nothing. I estimate that they owe me in excess of 110 bonus words and I think they should be honest enough to fulfil their promise. I sometimes just want to smash my iPad from anger. Come on Cody let me see how honest you are and I will write a new review saying how honest and brilliant you are. Stop stealing please. Had it not been for that I would award them 5 stars.
Now you people have stolen more than 200 points from me. Give me back my points. I deserve them and entitled to them.
Do not bother downloading this game. I have reached level 253 and have 826 points. I should have in excess of 1000 points if they did not steal from me. I now hate this game with a passion.

Enjoyable, but one problem
I honestly find this quite enjoyable, not too many ads, just enough. I love having to think deep on what the answers are, it really wakes my brain up, I also learn things I didn’t know. There is just one thing I want to address. It isn’t big, it just confused me a bit. On the adventure mode, one of the final words when you complete the level, is “Great Depression “ not going to lie, I found that quite offensive to be honest. I understand the educational reason, though, mixing great and depression and using it in this game isn’t the best thing.
Other than that, it’s a nice game to play to rid boredom.

Great game
After initial problems in April the developer fixed the failure to load issues I was having. Been playing for a few weeks now and I love this game. Hard mode is a nice twist and challenging, no further technical issues either. I don’t think the ads are too intrusive like others either and accept they are part of being able to play great games free. What’s not to like, highly recommended this app 🤓👏👏👏👏👏

Great game!
Love the game, and I’ve got all my family hooked as well!
The only thing for me keeping it from 5 stars, is that sometimes it isn’t clear to me that the answer is more than one word. If you added for example a “(3,4)” after the clue to indicate it was a three letter word followed by a four letter word answer then it would be perfect!
Please if you read this add that feature! But as I mentioned other than that it’s very enjoyable!

Bloody slow!
I love words and I love this game. But why does it take so long before we can get into a game? Watching an animated disc spinning while looking at the word “loading” for what seems forever is really frustrating. I know when the app gets up and running properly it looks great and is really fun to play, but please developers sort out the length of time we are kept waiting, it is too bloody slow! Once that is fixed I will be back with the other two stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (have read the developers response to another user’s comment about loading time. We have fibre broadband and get a speed of about 80 Mbps without problem. So the time taken to get into a game cannot be blamed on slow internet speeds. Maybe the problem lies at the end where the games are loaded from!)

Really nice game! Unfortunately, the loading phase takes soooooo long!! It’s a simple game, but it takes almost a minute to load the starting menu.. same when I finish a game.. so boring to wait!!

My answer is: the long time loading happened every time: at home with 50MB, at work with a faster connection and outside with 4G. Oh, and it doesn’t happens on the first time only, but ALL THE TIMES. Seriously I liked the game, but it was so annoying waiting that long!!!!

Sneaky In-App Purchases
I downloaded this game a few months ago. It was FREE and I thought I’d give it a go. After a couple of games I got a bit bored and haven’t played it since.
Due to a separate billing issue with a different App, I went through my purchases during the past 90 days. I could not believe that a regular amount of money was being taken from me as a subscription to this game - a game I have not played in months!
It looks as though I am being charged for the Premium version. Something I didn’t sign up for and would certainly not pay a regulator subscription for!
There are a lot of sneaky Apps on here that end up charging people the earth for things they did not ask for. Not happy and have deleted it from my iPad and made a complaint to Apple.

It’s alright but...
I downloaded this game about a month ago and it was highly addictive and still is! I just have one problem with it. I loved this game so much I recommended it to my friends and family but that’s when I noticed the difference... everyday I get 2 tokens which I have to use to load a new game so basically I can only do one puzzle a day which I eventually got used to. Now I watch my friends and my family play and they don’t have to spend any tokens to open a puzzle!! They’ve already past me and they haven’t even payed for the premium version ... I seem to be the only one who has to spend my tokens for a puzzle!

Harder than at first thought
Quite difficult and no clues provided, although Google can help. A clever concept - a bit different from most and I'm enjoying it so far (up to chapter 6)
An edit to this post. I'm on a stuck screen when going into the shop. Won't load and no exit button.
It's November 2017 now and there has been no solution to the stuck screen when I enter the shop screen - no exit button so I have to stop playing. Please get this fixed.
