Ok, so there are some reviews that say there are loads of ads but, in my experience, there was very few ads. Being a teenager, I think this app is perfect for people young and old. It is easily accessible and fun to use. Also, I have very bad vision because of a condition and this app has an incredible zoom so I can see. I love it!

Good but a bit annoying.

I have been using FlipaClip for almost a year now and people say that there are lots of ads but there are definitely a lot less than the colour by number game I have. I would only recommend it if you’re a beginner and still learning to animate because it is very pixelated. I have also found a couple of bugs with the audio for example: sometimes when I play the animation the audio and animation slows down or skips to a random frame and stays there while the audio keeps playing.

The subscriptions

Hi Flipaclip, i have been using this app for a while now, but i didn’t know how sad this can get. Whenever i want to put an audio in the animation! it’s always “Subscribe to Flipaclip premium!” I mean, i know the team wants their support but it’s just annoying tbh. I don’t know how im supposed to make my animation now :( In the past it was easier to get through the audio file and i really had enjoyed making animations there. So can you please fix this? My parents wont allow me to buy anything with my money since im ‘too young’ to use it. Thanks.

So flip a clip, maybe showed you one or two ads in your face, but you could also kind of use it as currency for example using ads to get features and things but now unless you pay for their stupid subscription (which is the whole reason why I used to flip eclipse so I don’t have pay.

fuming because of STUPID LAYER ISSUE

i was having a fantastic time animating; i was actually really happy with how it was turning out so far. i’d been doing it for quite a bit of time - around 2-3 hours - until i decided to insert a picture from my camera roll to use as a reference for the frame i was drawing on. after i was done with it, naturally, i deleted the photo layer. little did i know that deleting one singular layer was going to delete that same layer on EVERY. OTHER. FRAME. i’m fuming. i’ve lost all of my hard work and have zero patience to restart. i don’t understand why there is such an option for this in the first place, nor why, as much as i spammed the undo button, none of my work would come back. i beg of you to do something about this, because i am sure that this has happened to many other unfortunate souls like me who had no idea that deleting a layer on one frame would delete the same layer on all other frames. as i said before, i’m incredibly frustrated. thank you.

It’s the best frame by frame animation app I can find but…

I’m a young animator, i’m using flipaclip to learn and create animations and its very simple and easy to use. There is one thing that me and many others aren’t really loving about the app. Ads. I’m not saying there’s any wrong with the ads, it is all fine, it’s just what you put them in for. If you aren’t subscribed, yeah sure, you’ll have to watch an add or 2 ,many apps do that but sometimes you have to watch some ads MULTIPLE TIMES and you won’t even get what you need. Its probably a bug but bug or not, please fix it. Sometimes you get stuck on a add and there is no way to get your reward of audio or video or what ever or no whay to exit the ad apart from closing the app and reopening it. I also have 2 other apps that i can use for f by f animation which are Ibis Paint X and Adobe Fresco. These two, you can’t add audio and can’t import video and on Adobe you have to animate every layer on every frame. On Ibis the onion feature is straight up annoying but if I wanted I could switch to these two, why? Adobe Fresco - No forced ads + More brushes + more available features. Ibis Paint X - Few ads + More brushes + More features + easy to animate on. I love this app but some things need to be changed if you guys want people to stick to it. 4/5!

I preferred watching ads for access

I’ve began to grow tired of using Flipaclip. I was used to having the option to simply watch two ads in order to “Claim Free Reward”, which allowed me to use most functionality until midnight (extra pens/erasers, putting more than three layers, importing audio/video, etc.). But that doesn’t even work anymore.

Say I wanted to watch one ad so I could access more pens. Originally, that lasted 18 hours, but now, it’s been cut down to 4 hours and 58 seconds! Also, having to watch an ad to get an extra layer was tedious (but tolerable), but not only would the Watch Ad function completely break by never loading sometimes, but NOW IT’S COMPLETELY GONE, replaced with an offer for Flipaclip Plus! I appreciated the option to watch a couple ads to get access to certain features. Just give that option back.

Might be the best place to start

It’s excellent if you just want to dip your toes into animation; there is nothing to lose because it’s a free app. The app is minimalist— which makes it easy to learn your basics because there are no complex options, but after moderate use you start to realise the app’s limitations.

And I DESPISE the predatory subscription. The subscription is to get BONUS features, not to get access to something as critical as modifying the onion skin. I don’t even mind the ads just make your “free to use” app actually usable in its base form. Anyway it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for newbies because having lots of frames visible at once is probably more likely to overwhelm them than help them.

To summarise: great starting point, but if you have some experience there are better apps (I recommend Toonsquid).

Simple, helpful, but a few things…

I love FlipaClip. It’s easy to learn and doesnt jumpscare me every time i open it unlike those professional programs with a hundred different tolls on it. FlipaClip has a clean interface, lots of easy tutorials and is very user friendly. However, i think there are definitely some things that can be improved/ added. Here they are! 1. Ads and paywalls. There are far too many things that require watching an ad or purchasing premium, which is annoying. I don’t want to pay, no one does. I want to practice animation, not spend my money on something I’m not making animated MAP parts on or I’m creating large professional animations that i can post. Premium is needed for like 3/5 of the app. I just want to use the only animation app that i can understand. 2. Layers. 3 layers max? Three? Why three? A lot of animators use over 3 layers for their animations, including me. Now you can get more layers, but it’s behind an ad/paywall. An ad for each layer. I dont want to pay. Please fix this. 3. Limited amount of brushes. There are hardly any brushes, around 20 brushes which is absurd. Where is watercolour? Please give a bigger variety, not behind a paywall!!! NOW FOR SUGGESTIONS!!!! 1. Make it possible to move individual layers onto different frames, and i will explain this on the next suggestion. 2. Make it possible to choose which frame imported videos start because they always go to the start even though i dont want it there. I’m working on an animation and needed a reference for the movement. This part was at the end of the animation but the video was imported straight at the start and I couldn’t move the video layer. I cant move the starting frame because well it’s the starting frame. I want to be able to move that layer frame to whatever frame i want or just import the video where intended.despite all this, i still think FlipaClip is one of the best animation apps out there, theres just a few things i had to point out that needs to be improved. So this is just a quick concern. I am giving 1 stars so it can be brought to your attention quickly, not as an accurate review. I would give this app 4/5 stars.

No issues with the app whatsoever except for the fact that the big update hasn’t come out yet and the whole expensive subscription issue.

However the true issue,

The adverts on this app are becoming too prevalent and too inappropriate. I just right now got an ad that said my IPhone is being tracked and to update it (looking like an iPhone popup) this type of ad never came up before but it looks like now they are starting to appear. This is extremely dangerous as when animating and hitting play there’s a chance for an ad to play and sometimes you can accidentally hit the advert instead. If there are now scam adverts posing as IPhone pop ups this is an issue you need to fix.

Either you get rid of the adverts completely or you make a one time payment to get rid of adverts separate from the big subscription payment. This is dangerous and should be fixed immediately. There are children that use this app and if they see a pop up that looks like the phone software pop ups they will click it unknowingly.

If this issue doesn’t resolve you are going to get more bad reviews and a lot of angry people who’s phones may be hacked due to your inability to allow one time payments of features for ad blocking.

I expect a professional response to this. Thank you.

Is it just me?

I absolutely love FlipaClip it’s really simple and reliable to use for people beginning to animate! I’ve had this app for sometime and it’s been very smooth and it’s helped me improve A LOT … But not so long ago, the app started acting up, so it’d

have the loading animation screen but then the screen will go full white blank. There has been numerous times I’ve had to refresh the app over and over for it to load my projects ect. I don’t know if anyone else is having similar issues as me or it’s just my app, but could this please get a look in to? I really can’t afford having to delete the app and redownloading as I have lots of precious animations I’ve done that’s took me alot of time, I am aware in-fact that I can always just log back in but unfortunately I have no memory to if I had made my account into a guest account as the app will not load…Thank you so much for taking your time to observe and evaluate my situation. - SlushyAnimatez

Flipaclip is closely falling behind in the animation era

To the developers of Flipaclip,

I believe it is time for a change of the app ,I am currently paying for the yearly subscription I understand some of the hate against it but my most concerned reason for my future with Flipaclip is that it is falling behind.

Flipaclip has been great for me and easy to get into and use however I am just now feeling an urge to leave this app. Flipaclip even though it has great tools needs to upgrade its app animations take a long time to crank out but if you added something like a camera tool,tweening tool and just let us be able to go beyond the border that we have to animate in it would make it way easier to control.

I have realised my mistakes with getting flipaclip premium at one of the lowest points of the app but I am just hoping that if any developer is reading this if they could just put a little bit of effort in and crank this update out ALOT of the fan base would come back it would look like you are in some way “copying” toon squid but now is the perfect time to get this app back on its best performance

Very impressive FlipaClip

FlipaClip is so amazing and useful if you want to be good at animating, especially because it has layers, and if you have the premium version like me, it can also give you the option to add an unlimited number of layers instead of just 3, I also like that they have onion skin, which is a ghost version of the previous drawing if you didn't know, and not only that, but it can also be colored red and green depending on how you set the “layers before” and “layers after” thing higher, there is just one more thing that I'd like to mention, I can do other cool things like adding voice, music, or just any old type of audio from my files, and I can copy keyframes very easily, and if you guys have that problem where you end up not copying every single layer, you can always hold a keyframe down and then you'll have the option to add a frame onto the next frame or the previous frame and even add a blank frame on the next frame or previous frame, this is a perfect way to add in -betweens on your animation, so anyway, that's it for my rating. I would like to suggest a few things for an update, for example, when you use the fill bucket tool, you can decide how transparent the color will be. I’d also like to make a suggestion, I was thinking it would be a good idea to add a button that says “ lip-sync”. When you press that button, FlipaClip listens to the audio you added to your animation, and then it adds a set of mouths that will match the sound you're making.

Quite buggy

In general, Flipaclip fulfills a bit more the bare minimum of animation; you’ve got frames, a fill tool, a decent amount of brushes, layers, audio, etc etc. However, I’ve noticed the some bugs and how laggy this program has become. I would be editing a frame after scrubbing through the timeline, and i’d be sent to a random frame for instance, and deleting/copying frames from the timeline takes a couple of seconds to do when it should be done in less than one. Also, when i’m undoing some actions, it sometimes still leaves these small traces from the image before I undid; this is a pain to deal with, and it can’t be erased.

This program needs more layers, 10 layers really isn’t enough for anything more than a basic animation without shading/effects, and merging layers is even risky to do because you can’t undo it and the Flipaclip may as well just erase 80% of your work while you’re at it. I do appreciate the addition of alpha lock and clipping mask, but if you are, for example, colouring lines, you’ll still see a bit of the previous colour, even if you completely fill the layer with a specific colour which is just annoying and really doesn’t make your artwork look nice.

People who have previously paid for premium features before this subscription nonsense came to be should not see the diamond for “Flipaclip Plus”. This is more of a nitpick, but it’s really unnecessary.

Overall, a solid program for beginners, but if you’re going to make more advanced animations or if you aren’t patient enough to put up with the amount of bugs, please just use Flash or even Toonsquid instead.

My go-to, until I had to pay again.

I’ve been using FlipAClip for around six years now. I always found it to be the best, most accessible resource for animation and was very loyal to it because of that. I payed for the subscription to get rid of adverts and to gain access to more features that would make my animation easier. The issue came when I got a new phone. My new phone was more powerful for animation, and would help me be able to create animations without the app crashing due to how low quality my phone previously was. But no big deal, I had already paid for my subscription on my account and I had no animations of value stored on my old phone that I would need to transfer over. That was until I found out that it was, in fact, a big deal, because not only did it remove the subscription on my account that mind you, I paid for, but it also charged me more money than I initially paid, and asked that I pay it monthly. That was not what I had previously paid, and while I’d understand if that was the new subscription, I had already paid for a subscription which was said to be permanent. For that reason, I’ve moved to other softwares for animation due to being unable to pay for their now, more expensive subscription as a student. In my six years of using it, however, I can say it is one of the better softwares if you are willing to pay the fee for it’s extra features. It served me endless years of solid experience and was really easy to work once you got the hang of things, but the subscription issue as a whole put me off of it completely. I would highly recommend the software, but be weary of something similar maybe happening in the future xx

Ok but a few big problems..

Ok I think FlipaClip is great it works fine but sometimes it

Well makes things really hard here’s a quick story:

One time when I was animating I’d finally after nearly 7 hours I made 13 seconds,I then needed to duplicate a frame and I did it right but it accidentally duplicated most of the other frames,it was annoying but I decided to just delete them (and I checked to make sure it hadn’t selected the original frames as well) I pressed delete and continued with what I was doing but then I noticed,nearly every single one of the frames were gone and now I only had 4 seconds.I think you can see why I’m only giving it 2 stars now I have to redraw all of that again that took me 7 hours!all just so I could repeat that.I think a way to stop this happening again would be to maybe if it’s possible make there a way to get back your deleted frames incase it glitches or you miss click,especially considering how long animation can take.

I still think FlipaClip is a good app but that doesn't mean I’m not upset and a bit mad that this happened after all that was 7 hours of hard work for nothing even if it was just 13 seconds.

One issue

FlipaClip is a really good animation app and I always use it when I do my animations although I would recommend some more tools such as a blurring option because I cant make really good animations without a blur option and the issue here is whenever I use my headphones the ‘calibrating pen’ has a really loud ring but that’s not the problem before it only went on for a few seconds but now whenever I use my headphones it doesn’t go off the reason I use headphones is because I like to listen to music while I make these animations but now I have to do it in silence which isn’t the best but I’m not sure if this is a FlipaClip problem my iPad is the problem or if it’s my headphones so maybe a bit of feedback could help me thx

Keeps on crashing

I like this app! You can animate and it’s simple to understand, i’ve even bought premium! My only complaint is that theres limited brushes and, of course, crashing. Now i didnt have this issue from the beginning but it has started happening to me recently, and i just cant stop it. it has drained my motivation to draw or animate. I’ve tried so many attempts to get rid of this! deleting the app but saving the data, clearing out my storage, restarting my tablet, and heck, even deleting some of my projects! Nothing. It still keeps on crashing. Now, i’d delete the app and redownload entirely, but like i said, i have premium and theres no such thing as accounts that i can make and save this in. i’ve already paid 2 times due to this issue. please fix this or add accounts.

Please add a recovery option.

Accidentally deleted frames I needed. I spent days in my work just to accidentally delete the wrong frames. I swear I deleted the correct frames. I am so upset. Please add a recovery/ history option for deleted frames. Please, it’s been four years, I’m begging. I just want my work back. I know it says “this action cannot be undone” but why not? Why no recovery option? And I thought I’d only deleted the frames I wanted gone. I’ve lost the start to my animation. Please, please fix this. I don’t want my work gone like this- I have no backups and I don’t think I should have to make them every single time. I love the app (apart from the inconvenient ads) other than this. Please, please fix this. I need a recovery option. Please.

hey i have a few suggestions

i enjoy this app, it’s pretty simple and good! i have some suggestions, so my first one is to add a menu setting thing for the lasso tool, like maybe stuff you’ve lassoed you can control their transparency and stuff without having to make the layer itself slightly transparent. another idea I have is like I think it’s called “transform” where you can bend and twist stuff around, that’s the best I can explain it sorry. one more suggestion I have is like you should add a button thing where you lasso something and stuff you move or change the size of with the lasso gets put into the actual animation itself if you get what I mean (I am so bad at explaining things)

Amazing (shame about some ads)

Brilliant app - so user friendly with enough features to draw your frames and create reasonably complex animations. I didn’t really want an animation app where I had to trawl through hundreds of settings and watch endless tutorials about how to use each tool - I just wanted to start sketching frames and see what I could come up with and this is perfect for that. It’s an intuitive and minimalist UI for drawing, copying, pasting, rearranging and editing animation frames (even on a mobile screen!), so can’t complain about the app itself! Only downside with the free version is ads - just had one pop up for some kind of fridge organising game with no close button to go back to FlipaClip ☹️ Can avoid this if you pay to unlock all app features though so not a massive deal. Ads in a free version of an app are pretty common but not displaying a close button on an ad, even after a timeout, is a bit sneaky. Closed the app and left it for 10 mins anyway and it seemed to reset itself so all good 👍

perfect until i got premuim

ive been using this for over two years and had absolutely no issues until i bought premium a week or two ago. after buying premium every single one of my animations were gone, and i couldn’t get them back :( after getting premium, I’ve seemed to only be able to have 10 animations if that makes sense? if i make a new animation, my last one is deleted like the rest and i can only have 10 animations at a time. other than all this its a good app! esp for beginners as its super simple :))

(another problem i had was buying premium on my ipad, and on my phone (they have the same apple account) didn’t have premium? it was super unhelpful as i use both to animate and spent £9 expecting to get premium on both devices and such. its a kinda minor problem compared to the others (in my opinion) but i would either like this to be clarified to people before buying premium or to be fixed its a bug)

There’s one problem..

I adore this app because I use it to make art. I’ve mastered it. However, with my most recent drawing, it got completely ruined by the pencil tool. See, I use it to shade and whatever colour of the part I’m shading, I’m shading with a darker colour of it. Say I’m shading a light brown area, I would shade with a dark brown. But, it’s broken now, and comes out gray and brown when I’m trying to shade a pink area. Pink is the skin colour of the character I’m drawing, so it comes out looking like her face is covered in bruises. I accidentally left the app to show my friend, and now it’s completely destroyed my work. I tried fixing it with other colours, but they come out looking disgusting when I add transparency. Please solve this!

Really good

This is an amazing animation app for beginners. I absolutely love it. But we all know this from the other reviews so I’m gonna say my two complaints. The onion skin. This works perfectly fine, but when I’m trying to get a clean repeat I tried changing the onion skin to the first frame but it said I needed premium. This makes sense, but at the same time it’s a feature you can get for free on other apps. Secondly music is also a premium feature. It’s kind of annoying watching an ad just to get music for my animation. Also I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but when I try to claim my free reward and go on to iTunes it doesn’t do anything even when I agree to let the app have access to iTunes?

Aside from them two things, this app is incredible. I was only trying to find a new hobby and then I ended up getting OBSESSED with the app. Good job to whoever made the app 👍

The best animation app for mobile

Most of the animations I have made since 2015 have been made using FlipaClip. It’s free to dabble with and very cheap if you want to use it properly. Not only that it’s responsive and easy to use. And in comparison to most Pc software prices, FlipaClip is practically giving itself away for free.

I do have a few issues however.

Firstly, unlike most other animation software, FlipaClip is missing a lot of features. This is to be expected since it is a mobile app but it would be nice to see some quality of life improvements with the pen/brush selection as well as possibly adding a smoothness modifier of some sort to the pens.

I find that in FlipaClip specifically, it can be quite difficult to get nice, clean lines.

The only other issue I have is one that almost no one else I know seems to have experienced and that is that a few of my files would corrupt randomly without warning or even a reason why. I suspect it may be because I merged too many layers together but when you can only have so many layers it makes it difficult to… not merge them.

Lastly a feature that I would love if they added but I understand this will likely never happen, is some sort of bone/armature feature to help with rigging characters. I know this feature may be too advanced for a mobile app but it would be phenomenal to use such a thing.

All and all, FlipaClip is a superb app for beginners and hobbyists or just for those who might want to whip out their iPad and make a quick animation. It’s by no means as good as the likes of ToonBoom or Animate CC but for mobile devices it is without a doubt the best on the market.

Odd Design And Many Paywalls

Flipaclip is a fairly good app that doesn’t seem to be too glitchy or broken, and does what it’s intended to do. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s amazing, although I was thinking about giving 4 stars.

The design is a bit, to put it harshly, clunky. It took me a while to figure out what I was doing and how to control everything. The way you change the brush size was not obvious at first and how easy it is to accidentally rotate the screen was a bit off-putting. You can turn this off, but again it’s not obvious how at first.

One of the first things you see when you open the app is a notice about keeping Flipaclip free by letting advertisers use your data. However, the list of things you have to pay for includes:

Custom canvas sizes;

Sounds and the ability to add sounds;

Different grid sizes;

And even onion skinning.

Plus, they make sure to give their advertisers their money’s worth as they throw an avalanche of ads at you, one for almost every button you tap.

On the other hand, Flipaclip can have a canvas up to 2560 x 1440, which is fairly large. For example, Folioscope’s only canvas size is only 640 x 480. Flipaclip can also have sound, but again you have to pay to import sounds or use theirs. You can import images and also rotate by amounts as precise as 0.01 degrees in Flipaclip, although it unnavoidably gets a bit blurry on images.

Flipaclip is definitely good if you want something precise and done quickly, but other apps are more intuitive with their designs, have less in-app purchases, and are simpler to use.

The app is pretty good and easy to use but I only have like a couple mild criticisms

So this is probably one of the best animating softwares I’ve ever used for an iPad and I would totally recommend this app for newcomers who don’t want something too complicated. There is only a few criticisms to point out though. Whilst animating, I’m not sure you have the decision to change to a certain frame rate. So the only way I know how to change the frame rate is by making a whole new animation. I’m really sorry if I’m wrong about this but if you can notify me about what to do, then please do so. But apart from that, I love this app because it’s reliable and easy to use, since I’m rather new to animating in general. Is would be good if you could take this to consideration because I’m only 11. That’s all I really have to say though.

Stop increasing the price of premium

This app is amazing, and I use it all the time, I’ve started a career with it, but the only problem is that when I first began using this app about 2 years ago, the premium version was £4.99. About a year later when I purchased the premium version on another device, it was £6.99. It’s been about a couple months since I did that, I want to purchase premium on this device but it is way too overpriced. £9.99?!!

I don’t know why you keep increasing the price but don’t think I haven’t noticed. I’m not trying to be rude, but stop increasing the price. I don’t think there is an excuse good enough for that. £6.99 or £4.99 was a good price. If the developers delete this then it is obvious they are trying to cover it up. There’s no way for them to say that the price has always been £9.99, because I am sure others have seen it too. I want to animate on my iPad, but unfortunately this is stopping me. I’d appreciate if you could decrease the price a little bit, and respond. Thank you.

Great app! Would love one improvement.

I love FlipaClip as it got me into animation as a complete beginner. It’s easy to use and lots of fun. I’ve been using it for years now and have never gotten bored of it.

One improvement I’d like though is the ability to edit multiple layers at once. For example if I’ve got a five layer animation and I want it to repeat but flipped, the only way I’ve found to do it is flip the drawings on each of the layers for each frame. however it can be difficult to line up the layers once flipped and it’s vey time consuming. If quicker way to do this (like the select tool being able to select drawings on multiple layers at once) could be implemented into the app it’d be really helpful.

This app is not really good at all especially for Gacha animations because you can only have 3 layers, that’s kinda ridiculous because people who like to animate can only use 3 layers we need about 15 or more to actually make leg movements and stuff especially to make walking animations, when you want to make a walking animation you need a lot of layers for all the character’s’ body parts and also eye movements, it’s just so hard to make an animation with 3 layers. I am going to uninstall this app soon because I don’t really think it’s relevant, especially because it’s so bad for editing Gacha life characters, it’s only good for making tiny animations so if you’re a downloader of this app then I recommend you to uninstall it. It’s a waste of storage :3

Sorry to all the people who made flipaclip but I think this app has a lot of work that needs to be done. I’m very sorry but I think I’ll be uninstalling this app very soon. But if you remove the multi layer payment and allow editors to have multiple layers then I will keep it downloaded. Sorry that this review had to sound so rubbish, but if you’re using this app then I recommend you uninstall it and get CapCut instead it’s the best editing app if you want to have cool transitions and edit audios it’s the best app, way better than KineMaster and Videostar and Flipaclip of course.

It’s great

This app is very simplistic and easy to use for beginners, as someone with learning difficulties this app has been the only animation software I can use without ending up stressed to the point of tears because I can’t figure it out.

My only issue (which won’t effect the rating because it’s just a question.) is that I own a very small and poor quality phone which is difficult to draw on. I usually use a drawing tablet connected to my pc. I searched for a while and realised there is no desktop version so I was wondering if you were ever going to consider that?

Most animation softwares for pc are very difficult to get around, I still can’t even figure out how to make a new frame. If anyone knows any alternatives which are desktop compatible and very simplistic please let me know 🙏

Getting there, but one issue...

I think this little program is pretty neat! It’s set up well, it runs smoothly, and it’s very good for getting started with animation. The issue I have is the chore of duplicating frames if you want to extend the duration of a still. This issue is especially evident when it comes to roughing out an animatic where there are a lot of stills. It really disrupts your work flow if you have to stop and add 20-40 frames in order to get the timing right, and that’s only working on 2s. On 1s it’s an even bigger nightmare since you’re juggling more frames. Even if you go into the frames overview to perform mass duplication, you can’t hit play and judge whether the timing is right until you exit the interface. And if the timing is wrong, you have a lot of counting and adding and deleting to do. It creates too many extra steps to be effective in an already time-consuming undertaking like animation. Some way of managing how long individual frames last for would be an excellent addition! Until then, four starts is my evaluation. :)

Amazing! But...

I honestly ADORE this app! I have a OBSESSION with it. I just don’t use it as much as I want to because I have homework to do and I’m planning to go to a different Chinese school because that one has less homework and three free classes that aren’t about Chinese. Anyway, back to the story. Again, I love this app and is the first animation app I ever used and just by watching some people review this app(one of those”testing free animation apps to see which one is best”),I can pretty much tell a lot of people like this. I also watch a lot of animators and many of them use FlipaClip. Why do I keep getting sidetracked? I still don’t know. Anyways, I only have a few things that I slightly bug me. The ruler is amazing, but could you add other shapes? All I want is hearts,stars and triangles, that’s all. Also, in the tutorial, it didn’t mention some things, like making the tools bigger or smaller and changing canvas size and shape. Overall, I think I learned most things now. But even so, I am still a bit bugged about it. I am truly sorry if I was rude or picky, people sometimes want things that they can’t get you know? I am also very sorry to anyone who reads this review because it might of wasted their time. I hope this was help that’s all.

Before you download

This WAS a very good app and I would always use it for all my animations as it WAS perfect. But today I was working on one of my animations and had been for THREE HOURS I was checking how it looked so far when I noticed that half of my frames had been deleted without my permission. Hundreds of frames randomly disappeared and there is absolutely no way to get them back. I have heard that if you have to many frames and your storage can’t handle it than it automatically deletes them or something like that. But how was I supposed to know that. There should at least have been some kind of build in warning so that it doesn’t randomly delete my bloody work.

Ever since I started using this app it was perfect until today, I have have now quite doing animation. So I’m sorry but I can’t recommend you download this or at least don’t pay money to remove there water mark.

HELP PLEASEEEEE

This is an amazing app that i downloaded quite recently to make Dream Team and Dream SMP animatics. I took quickly to it and its so simple to use, and even the most beginner animators- like me - can make amazing things easily.

However, and this was my mistake, last night i was animating and i’d made such a great start and i was extremely proud of it... but i was tired and before i went to bed i was hiding and then making the layers visible so i could see what it would look like without some major attributes, when... i accidentally *deleted* my main layor- the one with Dream on.

And again, i was tired, so at the time i just thought i’d hidden it so i didnt give it much thought (“ah, i’ll just make it visible in the morning.”)

But when i woke up this morning and straight away onto FlipaClip... it hit me that i’d deleted all my hard work and i couldnt undo it cuz i’d closed the canvas.

Please, please, PLEASE.

If there’s anyway to fix this and get my layer back then tell me.

I love this app so much and when im motivated to animate like i was last night then i can make things to the best of my ability- but im the kind of person that lets a hit like this ruin that motivation.

So again, please help me- it would mean the world to me. But if you can’t i completely understand.

Some things I’d like to see be added to FlipaClip

Hello, I thought I’d have a stab in the dark and just ask this question to you guys. I feel like there should be some vital features that need to be added to flipaclip. First I’ll start off with some small things. I think it would be a huuuge help to be able to make continuous walk cycle loops that repeat over and over again so you don’t have to draw every single frame each time. And just in general, being able to make various cycles of animation that you can constantly loop. I know this is a big ask and kind of cheeky considering that this is a free app. Except the premium feature. In fact maybe have that as a premium feature you can buy. Now this in my opinion isn’t a very big ask, but seriously, you don’t know how great this feature would be, adding scrolling backgrounds. I cannot stress enough at how much of a vital feature this is. Animation on flipaclip can come off kinda limited since the backgrounds can’t move and the character can only switch from scene to scene instead of us seeing the character walk to the next scene. I hope you at least consider adding scrolling backgrounds. I have so many ideas for animations that I just can’t make due to not having scrolling backgrounds. And I sure don’t feel like spending a decade drawing the same background over and over again. Pleas take some of what I’ve said into consideration. I believe that if you add these features you’re community will expand and more and more people will start using the platform. Flipaclip is already a great place for animators to start off but these features won’t just help a bit, they’ll help an INSANE amount. I hope you get back to me. Thanks for the wonderful app. I’ve already made so many animations and I can’t wait to see them improve along with the platform.

cool app:D but the premium was a disappointment

Music-

Now I have managed to get premium on this app and it’s rlly cool and a lot of new features I struggled to get music on at first but I managed to do it!;)

The reason I struggled was because its rlly hard to know u need to save the song files instead of just uploading it from ur photos

As that’s what You do on other apps (kine master,cute cut/cute cut pro(cc/ccp) )

But now I know and I’m totally fine with it!:>

Animations-

I used to be fine with it but ever since I bought premium my animations have been blocky and not as smooth as it was before

Now I can see pauses bewtween the animations and will get joy animate smoothly if it’s really fast but to slow it down I duplicate layers but then it goes blocky and very un smooth it would help if I could fix that!

Premium-

It was really cheap at first and my mum got it for me but after a while the premium went away and it is now a higher price my mum and dad don’t pay stuff that I probably won’t use in the future but they bought me kine master premium because I always use this but this one was a disappointment

That’s all I have to say for now I’ll update on u soon if I have any other problems!

A great animating app, but just a few problems...

FlipaClip is a great animation app, especially for beginners. Like, I’ve been using the app myself for over a year and it’s great! The tools and stuff is simple to use and the premium features is actually cheap. However, recently the app updated to a new entire look (including the dark mode) and there’s this really annoying bug that I found.

Sometimes when I’m animating, some parts of the tool bar would either have some buttons that are squashed to one side, or some buttons would be gone altogether. It’s kind of annoying because I can’t use the tool properly and I have to exit the project then go back onto it. There’s also another glitch where the audio won’t actually play and you have to exit the project or restart the app to fix it.

Other than these problems, FlipaClip is amazing and I highly recommend it!

This is an amazing app for animations, drawings and videos this is an app for artists and people who love drawings and making skits this app is honestly one of the best apps I’ve ever used and I shouldn’t of been in such a mood at the time I was writing my last review.

I however don’t use this app on my phone but bigger devices so I can draw easily and make skits I do however have an idea for your app, I don’t know if you have this feature in your app already but can you make it to where you can copy the last drawing to the next picture/page instead of you having to redraw it?

Family Sharing Disappointment - PREMIUM CANNOT BE SHARED.

11 year old loves this app and has created some fab animations throughout lockdown which she would like to send to her teacher. My 13 year old decided to use the app too so I thought I’d pay for premium on my account and share it with them as I saw the family sharing logo.

Unfortunately (I realised after paying) you cannot share the premium features. A real shame as I think that just seems the developers are being awkward not allowing family sharing of these features. It’s not like I’m trying to share with lots of friends etc, just my two children. I would need to pay 3x for us all to use the features on our iPads.

The app is free without premium so I don’t know why it is advertised as family sharing, sharing is for purchases and you can’t share any of the paid for features.

Would have been a glowing 5 star review without that issue.

A glitch that needs to be fixed.

Flipaclip is an amazing app where your imagination can run wild with the power of animation. I completely respect that you need to have a watermark on your animation, and that there are three layers, though... It could be better if it had unlimited layers and no watermark like ibis paint X (which is free too). Now, time to get to my point. I was continuing to complete a brilliant smooth animation that took a MONTH to make when suddenly out of nowhere some of my layers where automatically erased without my consent. My animation was ruined and I put my heart and soul into it. I know that I can't change the past, but I would like to secure the future of not letting this happen again :( So, it would be nice if you would investigate this glitch I would be very happy, because I don't want this to happen to anyone, ever. This is amazing

This is a really amazing app for animation and that, it’s free, and the premium is really cheap! It has onion skin and a few brush options, + an audio input feature, but there is one tiny problem, I like to draw my characters with coloured line art, but the full bucket tolerance is to high for my liking, my character which is a very dark grey, pink and purple it is hard to find a colour that compliments them while not affecting the others if I’m fixing a colour issue, I can’t use that character for the reason stated, I lower tolerance bucket fill would fix that, or an adjustable tolerance, but the adjustable one would be quite harder to program so I would understand if you couldn’t do that, I would appreciate a low tolerance bucket tool non the less, I hope you add that soon! Apart from that this is the best mobile animation apps that does not cost a lot, thank you for making this! :)

Almost perfect!

Firstly, I must say that this is one of the most easy to use animation apps out there. It’s simplicity makes it easy to get around and a joy to use, especially for beginners! For £5.99 you unlock pro features (a bargain for the amount you get!) which allows more freedom to animate professionally, allowing the artist’s full potential. The ability to add sound brings life to your animations and the pre installed sound packs are fun to work with!

HOWEVER, despite this app being a joy to use, there are NUMEROUS bugs that need to be fixed. Some examples I have come across: some frames being skipped while the animation is being played, ads not showing video and just playing sound, using the lasso tool sometimes deletes what you’ve selected, preview of drawing not showing in the frames... The app itself has crashed twice, though I’m not sure why.

Until these are fixed, I cannot give five stars due to the vast amount of bugs I have come across. Once these are fixed, I’ll be obliged to pay for the pro features since I truly do enjoy this. The bugs, however, are frustrating.

I must also add that a magic wand would be incredibly useful to help artists add colour at a quicker pace (a feature that could possibly be added in future?). A wider range of brushes would also be useful as the range offered is limited.

Overall, I really enjoy using this, but the bugs desperately need to be fixed.

Update

Ngl, last update completely screwed me over. It was meant to fix bugs but has made the app run a lot worse and glitch whilst viewing my animations. Please fix soon.

Yes, most certainly! Basically, while previewing an animation, your screen will consistently flip to other random frames for a split second before continuing with the actual animation. It will keep doing this throughout the whole duration of your animation and the only way to view your animation without this is to keep downloading the movie even if you just want a quick and normal preview. For those of us who make longer animations with higher FPS, this isn’t very practical as we have to keep doing this over and over and for long periods of time.

Also, (I’m guessing this wasn’t intentional), the icon on the top right of your screen that’s meant for resetting your viewing position back to its default settings, (Full screen & straight), will now set it to outside the canvas boundary which is really frustrating, (This part may just be personal opinion but I have asked several people and they have all agreed with me). I can’t tell if this feature was intended as when you exit the app it will reset back to how it used to be. However, I believe that the full screen icon is used a lot whilst drawing, so to keep having to exit the app and re-enter it is really annoying for just wanting to view your animation at an actual full screen.

Easy to use, lacks quality

I have premium and it doesn’t really offer much else that the free version does, but it does make it easier to animate since there’s extra onionskin features. My main issue with the app is how bad quality the tools are, even on a bigger canvas size. It would be great if the brushes could be improved in the future so that we could have the power of a normal art program but in an animation app. That way the finished product could look way better.

I personally find it really easy to animate on this compared to other apps and programs, but only for base animations which can then be taken into other programs and drawn over to make it cleaner which is very time consuming. Cleaner tools with more options and a stabiliser and different layer settings could make this app a whole lot better, but the simplicity of it is also very nice to use.

Mixed feelings

It’s alright, I suppose...

The fact I can only use three layers bothers me a fair amount, sketch layer background layer and foreground layer...and if you want to add colour, you have to do it on the same layer otherwise it’s just not worth it. I wish the sound feature was better, it’s only for iTunes and files, and it’s pretty irritating to try to figure out how to save music to files, I’ve tried over and over. Also, why put iTunes there when all the music is drm protected? Honestly I’d like to be able to grab music straight from YouTube...it’s so much easier, and that way you could get mash ups that aren’t drm protected. I wish there were more tools, like the pen could have a few more settings, the smoothness of those lines are god awful, and using a different type of pen for sketching is helpful. Also, it would be useful to be able to keep a frame as a background and not have to draw it over and over, until you’d need to change backgrounds.

It’s the little things that get me annoyed and want to make me stop animating all together...so just consider it—also I’m not allowed to spend money on anything, being a teenager, so if someone’s gonna incorporate these things, just think about the people not able to get the cheap upgraded version

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I LOVE this app because I’ve tried MANY other animation apps and they all lacked BASIC features an animation app should have-like layers, text tools, etc. But this app doesn’t lack ANY of these features! I’ve seen many complaints about how some features you shouldn’t pay for, but I don’t mind. Although I saw one that says you have to pay to make your animations longer then six seconds. I’m not sure if this is true or not and if it is I think that should be changed. But the other features are worth paying for. I’m looking forward to getting them. Also I like how it’s only a one-time payment for ALL the features. This animation app has EVERY feature I needed. Thanks FlipaClip!

Good, but sonarpen is too weak

This is a great app for animation, however, the contest buttons dont show up for me.

The contest button has only shown up once out of all the contests you guys have hosted, and even then the contest said that there was an error so the contest couldn't load.

This problem has happened more than once, and here is a list of the contests that have not worked for me:

• Flipaclip Logo contest (contest didn't load)

• Christmas contest (contest button was not there)

• Valentines Day contest (contest button was not there)

• Stars contest (the contest that is going on now) (contest button is not there)

and I didn't join the contests before the Flipaclip logo contest because I hadn't downloaded the app at the time

Please fix this issue before the Stars Contest ends. I really want to join the contest.

but there is sorta a problem w/ the sonar-pen

i got a sonar-pen recently but the pressure sensitivity is too weak

i have to press really hard for any change in pressure and it is barely noticeable, but it works on other apps perfectly fine

i was thinking maybe there could be 3 options for pressure sensitivity; weak, medium and strong

so that ppl could pick how weak/strong they wanted the pressure sensitivity to be

it isn't an extremely big issue, but its something that could be improved and i'm hoping that it will be improved in the future

other than that, the app is amazing 👍👍👍

My experience!

When I first downloaded this app I was as mindless as a wombat, before I did download I used “Frame” and made a typical 8 year old drawing sliding framed song. Then again I was so inspired to see my drawings and interests come to life even so iv’e been fond of Cartoon Network lately as I watched a few of there shows mostly Uncle Grandpa, Bare Bears and my favourite Steven Universe, etc. Watching these I became less and less motivated so much to the point I felt I was worthless at it, even making yet mentally harming my ego. But it all changed when I found your app!

I watched a few animations made by the community of yours and I loved it i’m still using it, still improving yet I don’t see any I still wanted to achieve my dream. Even if others go before me:

The past is history.

The future is a mystery.

And right now is a gift...

That’s why it’s named “the present” (Yes a kung-fu panda reference ;w;)

Even so for anybody who reads this I wanted to say this is definitely worth it! I’m still learning teaching myself. But it helps to know I can always turn to this good hobby of mine when I feel gaming turns me into guilt.

All I wanna say is- Thank you FlipaClip.

I use this a lot but

I love this but some of the premium features should be free I think :3 for example

The onion thing I think it should be able to be edited because In my opinion it just makes it feel like a free trial like a here’s a taste of what it is! Some editing features could be free like the things that aren’t typically used as often like the colour of it and whatever.

My biggest frustration is that you pay walled layers! Layers are needed for animation/ art and it can make things so much harder without them

Yeah you probably won’t change this because you need some way of getting money but maybe more exclusive things like more brushes should be exclusive! Sorry how bad this was laid out and all that but I just wanted to say besides all that this is a great app and I would recommend

Mate...

This is a good ChEaP animation app ( unlike some other competitors F L A S H ) but you still can add in frames in between two existing ones, like, if my animation is too choppy, and I need an in between, I have to copy all of the frames across by one, and it’s really time consuming. Unless, of course, I’m being an idiot and you can, I just had no idea. Also, can you make it so that it will also import the audio from the video, instead of just the frames, because I was editing a video for a project, and I had to scrap it when I realised the audio hadn’t come through. Also, also, could you also, also make it so that you would draw OuTsIdE the animation box, because it’s easier to animate, because you don’t make it slow down as the character leaves the box (that’s a personal issue, anyway).

This is long, and probably annoying, but these are just some personal... comments. Otherwise, it’s all right. Still prefer Pencil 2D, though. That’s free and much better.

Love the app.. but

Hey! I’ve used this app for a LONG time now and I’ve got to say it’s one of the best animating apps I’ve ever used! Not only is premium not that expensive, but you can get a lot of things for free too. I just have one small complaint, recently FlipaClip has started to crash a lot, luckily it saves all of my previous work but I’m afraid it’ll delete all my work at some point, it also gets annoying after a while when trying to animate. So overall, a great app, but there’s a few things that need to be improved on ^^ still though, it’s a great app overall and I suggest using it, especially if you’re new to animation. It may not be the most ‘professional’ app, but it does help a lot for beginners and people still learning the basics of animation.

FlipaClip!

FlipaClip is one of the best animating apps if you are hoping for everything you need to animate! Despite myself not being the best at animation, it is a simple and helpful app to make progress with! It has everything you need and I am veryyy happy! :)

As always, you may need to pay for extra layers or adding of audio, but I believe that is fair for what has already been shown in this app for free! An example could be that you get a set of different drawing tools, such as the highlighter or pencil, and can be drawn at different widths to add every little detail to your animation! It is also easy to copy and paste, and FlipaClip makes it simple to see what you drew on the last slide, to alter the next slide! It really helps!

If you want, try it out for yourself! :D

Great app! But...

You finally added a feature to add sound! Yay! But wait... you have to pay to import your own sound! Many people only asked for the sound option to make it easier for them to create animation memes. BUT you can’t import your own sound without PAYING. Don’t you think you’re getting enough money as it is? You’re making it very difficult to make an animation without paying due to the fact that you have to pay to have more than three layers and to merge layers. An advert pops up every time you open an animation. You can only add a six second video without paying. You say you’re going to make the app better with an update, but in the end you have to pay to enjoy it to its full extent! It’s a great app, don’t get me wrong, when you PAY. You could at least let people who don’t pay be able to have more than THREE layers. Sorry for this really long review but I just feel like these developers are getting kinda greedy.
