Has many faults

Couldn't get any results for fuel prices out of this app having entered my location. I allowed it to use my location while using the app, and it told me that I had not allowed it to use my location! It also wouldn't accept my iCloud email address, saying it did not look like an email address! Basically this app needs a lot more work. It is currently not fit for purpose.

Price Notifications

I’ve been using the app since it was launched & find it very useful in conjunction with the newsletter.

However, I’ve asked for daily price updates but I only get them weekdays. I, like many people, buy fuel at weekends & no notifications are sent.

Pls explain why this does not happen.

This app has a lot of potential but it relies on the petrol station owner updating the price. Because of this, they update the prices usually around midnight when they know they can lower the price because they’re not going to be getting much custom. And then they won’t update it until the following night, again at midnight. So what happens is you see ‘updated 8 hours ago’ whilst on your way to work to grab some petrol only to find the prices have been hiked back up since the last update. A very pointless app unfortunately

Data often incorrect

The prices are often out of date or inaccurate. The local petrol station near me has fuel 2p per litre higher than what the app shows. It’s been like this for a few days, so there’s no point going on what the app says to try and find the cheapest fuel, only to find out it’s more expensive when you get to the pumps.

Premium diesel not sold, but priced up.

Why does it keep showing the price of premium diesel, when the garage doesn’t even sell it. I have been to 3 stations today only to find they don’t even sell premium diesel, it is most annoying. I presume it is customers entering it in the wrong category, why can’t the app stop this happening if the garage doesn’t sell it?

Used to be great

Have used this app for many years but lately, enter a location and nothing just sits there loading. Before you it's down excessive demand, I am an IT engineer and if my company's app functioned like this there would be serious consequences. Your app is either seriously buggy or extremely under resourced.

Not always correct

Sadly this app relies on the owners of the petrol stations being honest and truthful. Our local Morrisons put in their lowest price fuel rather than the accurate price for each type of fuel. Today it shows diesel at £1.37 but actually when you click on the Morrisons link the diesel is £1.54 and its the unleaded thats £1.37. Its a good job i checked rather than just drove there. Dishonesty is wrong imo, the providers of this app should ban dishonest service stations.

Used to work but has deteriorated for a while now. Just stuck on the sign in menu and continually loads with no change in screen. In reply to devs. This issue has been going on for the past year or so. Thus can’t be due to acute increases in demand.

Excellent for Saving on Fuel Costs

Although, so far, I don’t use any of the other features, and haven’t engaged with any of the offers and adverts, I find PetrolPrices an invaluable aid in getting the best price I can manage for my PetrolPrices. That’s whether I’m filling up near my home, or (maybe even more usefully?) in a part of the country I don’t know.

I’d estimate that I save between £50 and £100 per year on fuel by using the app/service.

By the way, I don’t do a huge annual mileage at the moment — so if I was doing the national average miles-per-year, the savings would likely total up to significantly more than that.

Saves money

Great app, I use it a lot when I’m on road trips. Often in quite rural locations and being able to see on the map where the nearest/cheapest fuel is makes life a lot easier. However taking off 1 star as It does seem harder to get to the fuel map. Would be great to have a button on the Home Screen to take you to the map around your current location also from the list view there doesn’t seem to be a way of getting to the map view without back tracking.

An Essential Motoring Tool

I find this very useful in finding the best fuel prices around. Where I live in south Hampshire petrol prices can vary by as much as 10p/litre in the five mile radius from my home and what’s interesting is that the variation is not consistent. So a quick check before refuelling is required.

Even better when planning a long distance run it identifies where convenient off-motorway petrol stations are located. After all who, other than someone on an expense account, wants to pay motorway prices?

A thought for the future: perhaps the developers/publishers of the app might consider adding EV charging stations to the app. I don’t have an EV (not yet, anyway) but I understand that the second biggest gripe about EV motoring (after range anxiety) is the extremely high cost charged at some locations.

Extremely useful !!!!!

The PetrolPrices App is a constant companion, is used whenever I am planning to refuel our car . When at home, I’ll always check the dozen garages to check which is most advantageous, and with all the price movements we’re seeing in the market, I frequently save up to £2.50 per tank fill. When planning a long journey to unfamiliar locations, I’ve found that a three mile detour can save nearly £10 per fill. That’s extremely useful savings for me.

UX could be improved

I have just downloaded the app. The onboarding user experience is quite bad to be honest. No Google/Microsoft/Facebook OAuth is available which is frustrating as users have to type in their data which isn’t convenient for such an app nowadays. It was giving me an error that my email is used while it isn’t. I tried to sign in as I though I might’ve registered before but no success. And when you are on the sign in page, there is no option to go back to the main screen, which is quite annoying. The user interface looks like it was designed 10 years ago. Certainly needs some work to meet today’s UX standards.

Invaluable in expensive times

Really like this app and use it for pretty much every tankful I buy. I’m using regular email alerts to update me on local prices and fuels too. Station owner updates seem to have improved the integrity of price information. Why not 5 stars? I’d like the app to tell me if it is worth travelling for the cheapest fuel. Let me enter how much fuel I’m likely to need and my average fuel economy and the app should be able to tell me the total cost of travel to station and filling up. Keep up the good work.

Massive money-saver!

I use this app all the time and it’s insane what you can avoid in cost, once you know where to go. I’ve saved myself a fortune! I also wrote a review saying the map had disappeared since the update and had a really quick and very polite response from the app pointing out exactly where it is - now feeling slightly stupid but very pleased that the app is as useful as it ever was, and clearly has very responsive customer service! 🙂👍

How can I got back to the previous version that worked?

Latest update stopped working. I updated before going on a travel break - turned out that was a bad idea cos the latest app stopped working. Luckily I was able to tell my wife not to update her app! If a new version stops working how can you revert to the working version??? It’s a great app when it works! Was told to delete and re-install…I did that and it now works again. Increased rating to 3 stars (previously 1 star). This is not a good way to update an app, normally you update it and run it and it works, you shouldn’t have to update it and delete it and reinstall it.

The app is very useful and apart from this glitch I reconsidered my rating and put it up to 5.

It bad but can be better.

I like this app, I think it’s useful, but needs improvement. I agree that once you have selected a fuel you should be able to save it as another reviewer has suggested.

I wish more people would actually do a STATION review, because some are awful, perhaps reviews of the station you want could automatically pop up when you select that station, I think we should have the option of really embarrassing stations that clearly over charge so people could see clearly without having to look for a review?

Why do I still use this app?????

Was a good app before all the chumps started using it…. there’s nothing to highlight or at least make all the chumps using it, at least double check they are updating the right price. Users (and PP) are entering super fuel prices with regular fuel prices making the app useless. PUT A CONFIRMATION BOX UP TO INSTRUCT USERS TO CHECK THE PRICE THEY ARE UPDATING IS THE RIGHT ONE! The app is pointless if users are filling it with duff info… which devalues the product and it’s whole point… and… where on earth does PP get its wildly inaccurate and out of date prices from…., even PP duplicates regular fuel prices copying them into super fuel prices, DON’T! LEAVE AT ZERO IF YOU DONT KNOW! Get it sorted out PP! A Bug also says sometimes I’m not using right format to update price when I am xxx.x, so when I see a wrong or old price I can’t even update it… not exactly sure why I still use this app…

NO way of recording “NO UNLEADED FUEL TODAY 3rd October 1520

Just been to TESCO Amersham, but they have lots of signs saying “NO UNLEADED”. Wish I’d know beforehand as I went there specially AND they ARE the cheapest in the area

Wanted to do a brief review but some questions insist on an answer even when not applicable e. g. Was lighting ok (answer no idea as it was just after 3pm and a bright sunny. I think there were three questions where I had to answer and one question I could skip (toilets). I’d like to be able to skip any questions that I cannot answer or choose NOT APPLICABLE.

Route Planning

A newish user (1 month). Like the app for telling me where the best prices of fuel are near to a known location.

However, it would be much more helpful if it could identify locations along a specific route? If I want to travel from, say, Bath to Guildford, it would be great to show fuel locations within an extra distance or time deviation. The parameters could be set for “up to 5 mins, or 3 miles for example?

At present I have to identify the locations along the route and then search those individually, which takes way too long!

The app already links with Apple Maps, and if you search for a specific store (Apple or Google) it shows all the stores and fives the additional time required to deviate by them. Surely, a feature like this would increase the ratings significantly?

Not very impressed

Well!! This once upon a time used to be a great app, I used to use it all the time for years as I used to do loads of miles, however I have had to delete it a few years ago as it had stopped working for some reason when I bought my new iPhone! Anyway.. re-downloaded the app a few months ago and once again it’s not working anymore, it’s just not giving me any prices, which is rather frustrating when you want to shop around or when on the road.. Just not very impressed which is a shame really.

Handy App

I did have issues with the app in a constant crashed state for months, despite closing the app and restarting my phone BUT after I uninstalled and reinstalled from App Store it seems login and work.

Handy enough app for finding the cheapest place. What I would say though that the most important page, ie the map page showing all local areas, should be easier to find/navigate to. I would suggest a big map button in the centre of the bar at the bottom rather than it being hidden at the top right. You have to click on the list THEN the map, it’s really quite hidden and I’m not sure why the leaderboard tap takes precedent over this key feature.

Adding or flagging service stations

Overall the app is pretty good and works well. The only issue I’ve come across is that my nearest (and usually cheapest) place is not featured. It’s a Tesco superstore so not a small place. The forecourt was closed recently for a few weeks for refurbishment but has reopened over a week ago. The place doesn’t even feature in the app now (did previously) so I. Any notify that’s it’s open back for business or add the fuel prices to it. The app would benefit from users being able to notify others of temp closures, out of fuel and when it’s reopened or has supply.

Very helpful app!

Hi, I recently started using this app and found it very helpful especially with current cost of living. The additional feature of garage where you can enter your car info to remind about the MOT and tax due date, is a great feature. I am not sure whether it is possible to set a reminder within the app to alert a few weeks ahead especially for MOT to help book appointment with the local garage. A push notification from the app should be sufficient. It would also be helpful to add more than one car for this purpose as I found out that it only allows to enter one car at present. We have two cars in our household.

Overall, it’s a great app. Good work!

The only flaw is …….

This app is brilliant and I’ve used it for some years, now.

The only issue for me has nothing to do with the app itself but with the amount of data that we, the users, give it.

Pump prices change so often now (sometimes daily), that the prices I generally see on the app can be over a week old.

I update when I use a fuel station and sometimes even if I’m just passing and remember the price.

If you use the app, please update the prices when possible. It can’t have enough data.

Crashes after latest update - UPDATED

I’ve always found this app useful, but the latest version seems to have added adverts (or at least made them more prominent). The problem is, when searching for fuel prices, as soon as you scroll beyond the first advert in the fuel station list the app crashes. Typically there are just two fuel stations before the advert so unless you’re interested in either of them the app is no longer useable. Two stars to reflect its usefulness prior to the update. Would rate higher when fixed.

Developer responded very quickly and the issue appears to have been resolved by removal of the adverts. The acid test will be what happens if/when the adverts are reintroduced.

Register problems now fixed!

Just downloaded the new update today, and my existing account details don’t work. Tried to reset my password and get a message to say ‘no network’ (nothing wrong with the network). Deleted app and re-downloaded and get the same result. Absolute waste of time!

Update: After a reply from the developer I’ve rechecked the app, and downloaded V4.0.1 and all is now working as it should. Thanks to the developer for fixing a good and useful app👍

Very useful App

With prices of fuel varying enormously from place to place it is handy to quickly check prices in areas your visiting or driving by and take advantage of better pricing. Our local fuel stations Esso and Tesco price fix and as a result can be as much as 15p / litre more expensive than other towns nearby, on a tank full that could be as much as £10- saving for larger cars so we’ll worth a check.

This App makes checking easy and allows you to report new prices or confirm existing prices where you see them posted in order to keep the data correct.

The idea of the App is great, however I tried this morning to send by text the link for my wife to join but the link would not link or open or do anything. She gave up. I made a special journey this morning to take part as the Shell Petrol Station two miles away from here was blank for all four grades. I have the information photographed from inside the car. I have tried for 45 minutes to update. I was able to complete the cost of the Fuel Save Petrol and V Power petrol but when I tried to update the two remaining blank entries for diesel I had to use one finger to raise the table above the iPhone keyboard to try to fill in the Two remaining blanks. They would not accept the values input at least 10 times and when I tried to just do the first two it just reverted to blanks anyway. Good idea which needs work or instructions on updating for users. And my obscure choice of ridiculous nicknames can’t possibly all be taken can they? Looks like a fault here.

Great, functional app, easy to use & saves money

This is a good, easy to use app, but you get out what you put in.

It only works if the users of the app take the time to contribute. Petrolprices being up-to-date in particular is so important.

I tried to make sure I update any time I pass the petrol station if I’m a passenger, and every time I visit the petrol station for fuel, especially with prices being the way they are.

I found it really invaluable tool, especially when travelling out of the area.

My only comment is that it’s sometimes a little bit glitchy and you have a short window to update prices if you’re a passenger in a car driving past the station, and sometimes it doesn’t load. By the time it’s loaded you forgotten what the price was that you wanted to import. Pretty good if you ask me! really handy to have, especially at the moment with fuel prices being so high. can’t get enough of this app and would really recommend it. had a few people tell me that it logged them out every time they tried to open the app, but i believe they’ve fixed that as they haven’t mentioned it since. i never had a problem with it personally. highly recommend :)

Great App

Love this App, can see Petrol prices in my area. Can sort by Distance, Price, can search by Fuel as well, ie show me cheapest Diesel prices within 8 mile radius of my location. Can also input location, Belfast, Liverpool and do the same search.

You can also click on Station address and get directions, useful if your in an area you don’t know and want the cheapest petrol or Diesel.

If DEVELOPERS read this, couple of improvements to make it even better. Let users add for approval locations of missing petrol stations, couple missing stations that sell petrol and diesel at good prices I would love to add.

Second is a BUG, my preference for search is to list stations but it still displays them in the Map format instead.

Good app. Needs updating

I’ve been using this app since I arrived in the UK from Australia, and most times it has been very handy, but there are some issues going on, when you really need it it won’t let you log in and then the garage section which I think is a great idea, however never worked since I’ve used the app, all you get is “Oops Temporary Disabled” otherwise it’s a good app, some of prices are a little out but that’s the service station changing whenever the deliveries arrive etc.

So get the garage working again, and fix the bugs and you got a great app.

Could be better

Love the app and that there is a large supporting community as all the garages in my area are updated daily if not more often.

What would be better is if the distance filter could be set by the user, to see if there was cheaper fuel when going to new areas anyway.

Also it would be good to have a map and route function. For those doing long journeys or reps, being able to put in the start point and end point, the cheapest fuel could be shown. This would allow the driver to plan their fill up for the cheapest fuel on their journey.

Works well, once you’re in

Used to be a great app but now you have to log in it’s no longer as good. It logs me out every time I close it so I have to log back in again, inputting my password each time was takes far too long for an app you need to quickly glance at. I don’t know why it doesn’t remember your details. Also, you have to select what fuel you want each time. Great if you want petrol, but I don’t, so I have to select diesel in the filter each time. Why doesn’t it remember that? Most people need information for the same fuel each time, surely. Once you’re in though it is good and have been using for years. With current fuel prices though there are far few reliable reports and many are showing as blank, but given many stations set prices at the same price as competitors it’s a good gauge.

Good but not perfect

As the owner of a car requiring E5 fuel the app is useful to find garages that stock this especially when out and about. Not all perfect tho ,to register a new price above £2 is not successful and at present this is a common occurrence for me. Obviously price updates rely on consumers and prices due to our wonderful fuel companies change at the drop of a hat. So it is never totally reliable. That said , if more people used the app on every fill up we might be able to warn of rip off price changes.

Downloaded and set up an account never showed Andy prices or local garages just sits there wheel spinning deleted as totally useless poor poor app Update If an app does not work I’m not going to try it again I do beta testing for 3 different companies and have never seen anything this bad even whilst beta testing

Asked by developer to retry the app this time it worked 2* however prices that were displayed yesterday are not shown today you can’t put in prices above £199.9 the app is slow to load from start up and the prices display screen sits for a minute or so before loading “could” be a good app with a lot of work but until then I won’t be using it, so many “features” have been disabled if they are not working remove them why take up space with items that don’t work or have been removed 1*

In closing if you are going to produce an app getting it working correctly before release is a must using the public to correct bugs and features is totally the wrong way to move an app forward. 1*

Good app, couple of glitches

The app’s good, been using for a while now. Particularly with the current volatility of fuel prices, it’s really useful to keep up to date with what to expect day to day. Comes into its own when you’re outside your normal area and don’t know the local prices. Couple of small glitches I’ve noticed. Don’t know what the points and leaderboard are for (can’t see a description in the app nor if there’s some sort of prize?) but I have noticed occasionally that fuel prices I’ve input have shortly afterwards been overwritten with same prices, presumably to bag some points! Not a big deal, but does smack a bit of cheating! 😂. The other glitch is that sometimes some obviously way-out prices appear which can only be typo’s(?), but the app doesn’t let you correct them. I can only assume that there is some sort of max limit to how much a price can shift written in to the app, but if there is then I don’t understand how the wildly incorrect price can be entered in the first place. Anyway, my advice is that if the price looks too good to be true, then it probably is! Try ringing the service station first before being tempted to drive a few miles to be disappointed when you get there.

Has some bugs

This app generally works fine when you update prices, but lately seems to have issues accepting any pricing over the £2 a litre mark. It won’t let you confirm the price you input. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it but still the same.

Doesn’t seem to have been updated in a while as the garage function has never been enabled since it launched.

Obviously the data that is there is only as good as the day it was entered when searching for prices.

Would also be nice if it had a report bug option somewhere.

Many flaws and often very wrong

This could be a great app and it’s fun updating the prices as they change but there are several prices that you’re unable to update due to the app not working, meaning that some of the fuel prices are out-of-date. Sometimes you’ll see prices that are many weeks old even though earlier that day they were showing current prices correctly. I’d guess that Most of the prices are wrong. The conclusion is that I’ve removed the app as it only occasionally shows correct prices and definitely can’t be relied on to show up-to-date info.

Prices not always as suggested in the app

In principle the app is good. However it’s frustrating when you spend time checking fuel prices nearby on the app before you fill up, only to find when you get there, the price is actually higher. Sometimes significantly higher. You then end up driving about, wasting fuel to find a cheaper garage to fill up in. When petrol prices recently hit record highs unfortunately the app was useless as prices stated on it were not accurate at all. Not sure who is responsible for updating prices but if information was 100% accurate I’d give 5 stars.

Great App, saved me hundreds over the years

I’ve used the app for well over 5 years and found it very useful. Of course the pricing info is only as good as the users inputs; can’t understand users complaining prices are incorrect but then not doing any updates to help the next user; the whole ethos is help each other. User updates are vital in times of rising prices Some recent access issues seem to now be resolved. Happy to continue using and updating to help the community

Money saving and useful for different areas we travel to

Have been using this app for i don’t know how long but it’s a real money saver and is nearly always spot on regarding prices Would love to see if there was a way that developers could make it possible to save particular places for you so you can always get to pull them up instead of having to always put in location when in a rush Anyway either way keep up the good work it’s fab Have recommended to family and friends who also agree it saves them and also shows some garages they didn’t know existed in certain areas

A little flakey

Just tried using first time in ages. Forgot password. The renew password process fails. I got emails with a reset button (clearly correct email address) and re-entered password: all ok? No. I couldn’t log in as password still incorrect. I used copy to notepad so I know it’s correct.

Only when I restarted the app did I manage to get in.

I can’t add my car reg as the feature is “disabled” nor can I see The Leaderboard.

I don’t expect many prices will be accurate around here as you need users to report them and there is so few people here so that’s understandable.

Very useful app

Use this app regularly to find fuel stations, particularly when travelling long distances as often a short detour off a motorway saves a lot of money on fuel. The prices are usually accurate or very very close as recently updated so very useful, thank you!

Would love to see other things like AdBlue pumps added to the list of available fuels, this would be really useful.

The only glitch I’ve found is that if you click on a station, then come back to the map, you can’t click the same station again. You have to click another one first. All in all an extremely useful app.

No longer up to date

Anyone else finding lately that the prices displayed in the app for their area aren’t correct? I’ve got quite a few petrol stations in my area, as I’m sure others do, so there’s a lot of competition. This app has always been great for helping me decide where to fill up. But lately, it’s been displaying completely the wrong prices - and not by a penny here or there, but by quite a big margin. So, as I usually do, I’ve gone in to update prices for my area (the prices have steadily gone up over the last two weeks, so it’s been frequent, of late) only to find what I’ve input has been quickly overruled by Petrol Prices themselves - to the incorrect amount, however - or for it not to accept my corrections at all. Pretty pointless if I find myself looking for cheap fuel in my area and for it to be incorrect across the board!

Great App, saving me lots of £

I've been using the website for ages, but only got the app recently (free version). It's very easy to use, gives a good view of prices according to location. Although the map view only shows a handful of local prices, the list view gives many more. Used twice this week for significant fill-ups, it has saved me 5p/litre just by showing me better prices within a half mile of my usual filling stations. I like that you can also earn points for confirming prices and reviewing petrol stations.

Motoring just got cheaper

I find this App brilliant and really easy to use. Doesn’t matter where I am in the country it helps me find the nearest petrol station and if time, distance not an issue I can also pick the lowest cost option available that day. As petrol stations change their prices up and down more frequently than I change underwear I always double check latest pricing and ensure my information is totally up to date.

Would be lost without it!

What’s going on

Thank you for your quick reply but if I leave the settings as allow only while using the app even with the app closed it constantly using location. Open and close app location indicator which is near battery symbol stays on constant.

No mater what I do this app is constantly accessing my location. Even though it is set to only while using the app. Reopen the app and it cannot find my location and suggest setting the location for the app. You have to does this every time otherwise it won’t work even though the location indicator shows location is being used. So every time you use the app you have to play around with the location settings.

Please fix this otherwise a great app. Thank you.

Not very impressed. It used to be very useful

Very clunky on my iPhone. Very difficult to find my way around it. About 80% of my local stations didn’t have prices. I put the price of my nearest one in but it didn’t appear. Couldn’t get it to landscape mode as petrol station results were stretched down in a narrow column down the screen and I couldn’t get it to zoom out.

Tried to get their website to work on my laptop to try and read results more easily but couldn’t get it to work. Coolant even find where to log in.

Website used to be very helpful now it is a disaster area.

The App DOESNT RESIZE CORRECTLY to take account of the Accessibility setting LARGE TEXT. So makes it impossible to enter reviews as the next button is off the screen & cannot be scrolled down to.

Works well overall

Great improvement since last update.

I have used this app for a few years now and on average I saved about £5 every time I fill up which over time can soon add up. There are one or two hitches in that not all the petrol stations are list. The ones are not listed are usually independent but I try and drive past them on my way to the cheapest one that are listed just to see if they are cheaper and nine times out of 10 they are spot no.

No map and tracking my location

The app has now lost map function and many prices are missing. iPhone tells me it is actively tracking my location without using it even though I have that setting deactivated

Since writing my review it was “updated “ whilst there are more prices now when I search for a location and select the correctly suggested location it tells me my location is switched off can’t find any prices. This goes round and round in a loop. I won’t turn location on as I wrote before you keep tracking my location even when not using the app contrary to my selected settings, contrary to Apple protocol.

It is almost as though you are making this a deliberately bad app which I cannot fathom why you would do that.

I was using PetrolPrices when it was only a website many years ago.

App asks to put in location but after selecting location from drop down it simply replies location services not switched on no results.

When I switch on location services choosing ONLY WHEN USING THE APP after closing the app my iPhone flashes a blue warning message

PETROL PRICES IS ACTIVELY TRACKING YOUR LOCATION

This continues until I switch off location services.

This is not how location services are supposed to work and looks very risky to me

Looks like the app and website were thrown together

While the primary function of showing nearby stations sorted by cheapest price does seem to work, there are a lot of rough edges and things that are broken. So much so that none of it particularly fills me with any confidence and I'll probably remove it. I certainly won't be "completing my profile" and trusting them with my personal information (why would you give them your address and DOB?).

Clicking Your Personal Data from the app renders a web page showing "Cannot GET /account-user"

The login screen on the website shows the message "A new password sent to your email account, check your junk folders" even if you haven't requested a password.

Updating your name seems to be impossible both from the app itself and the website. When clicking to submit the form the changes aren't remembered and stay as "undefined".

There's probably a lot of other things too, but I'm not sticking around to find them. Someone needs to test the thing before releasing it.

A big step backwards and no maps!

Have been using this app for quite awhile and was keen to download the update. The updated app is a big step back and heading toward being removed from my phone altogether!

The maps appear to have gone completely so no longer useful when you’re travelling. How to use it isn’t clear or indeed logical from the UI. It still doesn’t retain what fuel you use so I have to wait for it to download local Petrol prices before I can select Diesel and then wait all over again, and this highlights how slow it is to use with progress bars appearing at three quarter progress and not moving.

The biggest gripe is that it hogs Location - even when only access Location When in Use it continues to flash PetrolPrices is Actively Using Your Location after you’ve closed the app - you have to switch it off from Location Services altogether!

The UI is a real dogs dinner and I have no idea what the thinking was behind the Leaderboard?

All told it is a backward step and an attempt to broaden its appeal by making it less appealing to use!

Less user friendly in the current iteration

I’ve been using this app for a couple of years and have found it very useful. However I opened it today for the first time in ages and find the new version carries on using your location even when you’re not using it, unless you quit completely. I think there should be an option to use location only while using like in most other apps. And, whatever happened to the map view of results? That was far more useful than the list if you don’t know the area well and need to see at a glance what choices are nearby.

So, a disappointing update. Please reinstate the earlier functionality.

Use to be better

I have received years of emails with prices and when they produced an app I was really pleased. It really does save you a fortune.

The biggest problem now which is why it had the rating is that the view on a map option where you can figure out quickly where to head is no longer available. You have to open each suggestion to see where it is. Which if you are somewhere new is not convenient at all.

I am deeply concerned over how it does not like to stop using my location when I don’t have the app screen open (I have background app refresh turned off for it) and that potentially I am appearing on a points bored. The settings on this don’t seem clear at all.

Was impressed now very unimpressed and looking at other apps that provide the service I want.

Great app will only improve with updates

Have been using this app for a while now and it’s really handy. I’m sure I’ve saved myself a fortune in that time... the difference in price in one area is incredible and this app tells you instantly which is the cheapest. I love what they’re doing with their latest update although the information doesn’t seem as good, a few petrol stations prices that were previously known on the old app now are blank which is a bit disappointing, although I’m sticking with it because I’m sure future update will improve it!

If you leave a review for a petrol station please be aware that it automatically uses the name in the first part of your email address which can be your full name if your not careful, you can only change your user name on the website and not the app so please be aware if you are planning on reviewing and don’t want your name visible to the world..

Poorly developed

After being recommended this app I thought I would give it a go - it took about 30 minutes of entering in my email and details repeatedly on both the app and then online as both would get stuck/hung up at different stages of the application, then when finally it allowed me to access the app it turns out it gives extremely limited info and most of the functions are locked anyway and require a subscription to access. Based on the frustrating experience in registering I am not willing to pay for a subscription to see if it’s any better - had it been developed more professionally in the free version I may have been tempted to subscribe
