This game is so bad, it’s hard to find a place to start because you usually say what is good about the game to begin with, but there is nothing good. The game should be dismantled and you could possibly get some good games created out of some parts of it I suppose. Don’t spend any money on it as it is a money pit and not much else. You are constantly targeted to spend.

Don’t bother
Absolute rip off of a game. Seems ok at first - play match puzzles , build your base and heroes up and battle other players. Then u realise every game is pre determined ! If it wants u to win u will. Once you have that realisation plus the fact there’s been people playing for 4 years it becomes a waste of time and pointless spending any money. If the shields were random instead of fixed and drops were better it would still only be an “ ok “ game.

Fun but rigged
Terrible matchmaking for pvp matches. Fun concept, however the ai is very rigged. Gains mana randomly, makes it impossible to actually try and be tactical since the monster you thought was 4th in line to hit suddenly hits you with a super hit. Quite random in its riggedness as well which means at times it is unplayable and other times it is too easy

A Gambling App Pretending to Be a Game
This is a gambling app, with everything predicated on getting you to spend money. I spent £100 on recent pulls and got absolutely nothing from them.
There are levels of immorality involved here that beggar belief and how the developers live with themselves for robbing people is beyond me.

A joke
This game is laughable. Tournaments will just put you against people way too strong for your team. If you double/ triple up on colours, you will barely get a match. Rewards are a joke - unless you love getting season 1 3* heroes from every pick. Just avoid it - it’s soul destroying lay bad.

Purely Money Motivared
Long time member of this game, and sad to see how money driven it has become, with lack of consideration / thought for the game player. You log in and you are hit with endless offers to buy and spend more money, and when you do, little chance of getting anything good from a summon. I and many others within our alliance say the same. Can’t remember the last time pulled anything good from a summon. The odds quoted on pulling a 5 star do not reflect reality. Good game ruined unfortunately with greed over customer focus. How about at least giving an option to swap heroes within an alliance. At least rubbish pulls could be sweetened with a swapsies option…….. And don’t bother with the generic response of sorry to hear about your comments, anything further please go here…… if you can’t be bothered to respond to the actual comments made and take the time to read them, don’t bother, as you come across like you couldn’t care less.

Played for more than 3 years…
This is a good game with great longevity and enough chance to ensure pay to win players cannot always get their own way. Recently however, the animations for characters have been getting so long that it is making the game boring. There is lots of disgruntled chat in the forums, but the developers are bringing in new characters with even longer animations. They add nothing to the game, slow down the game play and make it a little dull now. Shame.

Finally quit after years of playing
I loved this game, loved my alliance and at one point was frequently a Top 100 player. But I couldn’t keep up, the game became a chore. Too many challenges, different types of coins, all latest development has been on new heroes rather than keeping things fresh or interesting, there are too many to keep track of. I was happy to spend a little money once in a while to ensure the developers kept improving the game but they just ruined it. I’m not a gambler and that’s essentially what you are doing with your money and you’ll never come out on top. It’s not for the casual gamer anymore and the offers you can buy are shameful if they think the average person can afford to keep up. EDIT: thought I reinstall would have a look to see if anything interesting happened since my review. Some weird museum for Pokémon collectors but that’s it. There are NINE ‘offers’ for different coins, boosts etc that are very intrusive and if you were to sign up for all of them - over £300 of your money would be wasted. Play away if you have more money than sense but the developers sure aren’t spending your cash on anything innovative.

Solid but Frustrating
It’s a fun game it really is just you have to close about 6 pop ups every time you open it with all these offers that are honestly really expensive for what you get. if you cave and indulge in the pay to win more than likely you won’t get above a 3star character maybe a 4 if you’re lucky.
The loot also seems widely inconsistent. I have so much dragon bone, supposedly a highly rare item, but can never find items of a lower rarity if they’re associated with fully levelling up a character.
Because of this when you get stuck on a level there just isn’t much you can do. Characters fully levelled? no i don’t have the items i need, i have dragon bone. Get a higher rarity character? Good luck and even then the time sink to get them big and beefy is pretty immense. Seems like it wants you to go do something else until you can’t do that either.
I like the game i really do. I play it a lot, i watch the ads, i’ve payed for gems but it doesn’t feel like the game loves me back yknow?
That being said if i get a Legendary Ice Character I’ll change this review to 5 stars immediately i’m begging, i’ve summoned so many, it says increased likely hood of legendary summons but what does that mean?? from 0.0001% to 0.001%??? anyways have a good day - 4 stars

Nothing but a cash grab
When I first got this game in 2017 it was something awesome with real chances to get good 5* characters even as a free to pay player. Fast forward to 2023 and now unless you spend hundreds of pounds a month you won’t stand a ch ace against new heroes who are so over powered it’s embarrassing. Whales who spend money and level up heroes are more or less unbeatable. The ‘random’ game boards are so badly rigged that if you have a mono or 3/2 split teams you will never get the tiles you need until it’s too late. Avoid this game at all costs, Second the company was bought out by Zynga it became nothing but a money pit - pay and buy or don’t win!!!

I got introduced to this game by Swagbucks, I didn’t think it would be much of a game if I am honest. To my surprise, it’s actually a pretty good and clean game. It is not a copy and pasted game like most of them and I don’t feel like it is forcing you to make in-app purchases. As far as these types of games go, it’s one of the good ones. I would recommend giving this game a a go if your go to is matching games.

This game has held my interest for ages which is rare for me. There’s a great community feel to it. There’s no pressure to buy items, and lots of free items, it’s always evolving and has lots of elements to it. I love building my team and seeing which characters I get next. Spend or don’t spend.. it’s all fun
Empires & Puzzles is a match 3 game, but with all kinds of challenges. Some players will spend a lot of money in order to buy all the latest heroes, battle items, gems etc. However, other players, who don’t wish to spend, don’t have to! I am very choosy and think carefully before making a purchase… if you have patience it will all come your way eventually. One of the best features, I think, is that you can enjoy the gameplay much more by joining together with other folk from all over the world; you form an Alliance and do some of the challenges together, so the social side of E&P becomes as important as winning. I’ve been playing for over four years and I’m still engaged. Thank you SG.

I am amazed this game has a 4.6 rating.. unless all the ratings are from deep pocketed game players.
All the the ones saying its free and amazing, are B/S you only progress with lots of money..
Add insult to injury the money you spend doesn't give u the exciting heroes they show you.. they recycle the 3 star and some 4 star heroes many times before you get a 5 star one.
It litters its screen with sales all the time,selling u false hope of decent heroes you wont get.
The maps and quests are ok, although they seem insistent on making it too hard on lower level challenge events so u cant progress without maxed out heroes.
Wars and Raids are laughable as there is always a mismatch in strengths, and the robots in customer service (as they aren't real people) spout the same rhetoric.. we are sorry if u want to provide feedback we will look at your request.. lol

Good game turned silly
Great game to start very addictive and easy to play very annoying in the raid arena, my team has 4000 team points so attacking another player with 1600 or 2000, beat them in the battle but then they revenge and beat my team, some of the players are at number 1 level so how can they beat a team nearly 3 times as powerful does not make sense and makes the game not worth playing, so be careful as the battles do not seem fair with you losing more ant to lesser teams but then you lose when you try to avenge

Unbalanced and greedy
If you want to compete, be prepared to empty your wallet for a fractionally small chance of pulling a 5* hero, then spend resources and time maxing them out, then wait for the hero to be nerfed in a subsequent release because they were too powerful, which was of course what caused all the whales to empty their wallets in the first place. Rinse and repeat.

I once gave this game 5 stars but after playing it for a long time I’m STILL nowhere near having a good squad! These people who write a review and say you get rewards every day are obviously devs, you DO get rewards every day but only if you BUY them! If you don’t want to spend don’t play this game! Aggressive AI decides the outcome
Game designed very well and provides enjoyable experience. It’s free to play, but constructed in a way that would promote in-game purchases to buy and raise more powerful heros. Main issue is that even if you will spend money (which is fine, we all need to make them) it will NOT give you any significant edge over the other players because each play is orchestrated by an AI mechanism which decides how many stones you will get each play to deal damage to your enemy. You may have most powerful heros and loose. I know that balance should be kept and all that, BUT still it is not true random and to me it kills motivation to spend time on growing heros because in the end you don’t decide anything and it’s not decided by luck either. Ok to spend time, but killing desire to compete

Money money money
Having played this game since May 2018 (level 87) I can honestly say it’s nothing like it used to be, the rewards are horrendous, for Titans, war etc, they used to be good but last couple yrs they’ve seriously gone downhill, same as for events etc like tournaments unless you are prepared to spend a LOT of money (I know I did) on this game don’t start it, I’ve spent too much (don’t spend anymore) to stop it now or delete it but the summons odds are horrendous, very very rarely do you get anything good and you’ll spend a fortune trying and still get the same crappy 3 star heroes over and over, it’s gambling pure and simple and the game is rigged to make you want to spend more and more trying and chasing heroes you’ll never get, they don’t care about us playing and haven’t for yrs it’s all about making money which they must do so much and yet still even the free stuff they give is an insult, my advice don’t start playing go elsewhere, these developers couldn’t care less about us

To the new players
Hi new players. I am really sorry to write about this but the beginning the game was very good. Unfortunately now time probably been took over by new developers and they are extremely greedy and let other players to use cheat. I experienced to many time this kind of staffs. If you report it they won’t do anything agains it. I did quite few times, but the problem hasn’t been solved at all. Not even a single reply. To buy any kind of offer don’t even think about it. Maybe they are good deal but you won’t get any good staff. To get a single good hero you need to pay at least 3-400 $. But that is not even guaranteed. So better think about twice to download the game or if you want to get a single cheap offer.

Some annoyances
The game is far too hand-holdy with its initial tutorial, forcing you to complete it, and it drags on for too long.
Using the characters feels very underwhelming. When you get a character, all you really have is a little portrait in the battles and that’s really it. Their fully character art should be displayed when using a special attack as that would make them feel a bit more special.
The inability to buffer moves is incredibly unsettling for me. Coming from Bejewelled, which set the standard many years ago, I’m surprised this isn’t an option here. It’s incredibly jarring to have to sit and wait for the animations to finish before you can swipe to make your next move.
I’m not a big fan of the whole time based upgrades system in these games, it’s too much information to keep track of for me personally, though some may like that.
I deleted the app before I finished the end of the main tutorial because it was just going on and on. The fact you have to wait a second or so between making moves is too frustrating of a feeling for me here, so I will be sticking with Bejewelled, which is a shame as I felt this had potential. Work on the player input speed, less intrusive tutorial and better integrate the character artwork into the battles and I may try it again.

Very Expensive for very bad rewards
I’ve been playing for a few years now, and I’m ok to spend my hard earned cash on good deals every now and then, but it’s got so bad! I did a 10 pull and got 5 of the same 3* another 2 of the same 3* and 3 other insignificant pulls, which I could pull from the usual silver token pulls. I don’t think you should be able to get these people from legends pulls. For this same reason is why I don’t partake in events where you battle for ages, to earn enough coins for 1 pull, and pull someone like Dawa or Ishtak which you could get from a silver token pull (OFTEN - they lie when they say it’s rare!!!) so be warned when paying nearly £30 for pull tokens, 99% will be rubbish you can get from free daily pulls.
My other issue is that war algorithms are horrendous. There have been many occasions where I have gone in with teams well over 1k higher and still lost without my team being able to set off, due to no tiles. From speaking to others, this seems to be a very common issue though. Wars change every week, but don’t understand why we can’t have 1 normal war with no boosters?
The only reason I still play is because I have an amazing guild, but the game is starting to cause more frustration than enjoyment at times.

Been playing for just over 3 years now, at the start the game was so much fun and now it’s basically just money money money, there’s far to much content coming out to quick, there’s been more stuff put out in the last 3 months then there has 3 years, old hero’s basically become obsolete, you need to spend a fortune just to keep up with all the new hero’s they are putting out and even then the odds are so ridiculously awful that you won’t even get a new 5* hero, the offers are out of control and ridiculous sure you don’t have to buy them, but it’s such a shame that what was once a great game and really addictive has now just turned into a pay to win, shame they’ve totally gone in the wrong direction with it.

Expensive and Puzzles
Easy to get drawn in to spending money. Starts off slowly as you would expect as a great little game building your basic team up until you start struggling to complete levels and get slammed by stronger and stronger teams but you desperately want the cool 5star heroes so might be tempted to spend a bit of cash then it gets addictive no point having one 5star hero right? Then getting them levelled up is again a mammoth task with special items being hard to come by unless you spend and spend and in time you too can have an incredibly expensive team. But wait you’ll need more than one team of strong heroes to compete you’ll need multiple teams. I think you get the idea. Would be a fantastic game if spending wasn’t so essential.

Don’t pay don’t win
Sadly this is a pay to win game......and if you’ve paid and stop paying you stop winning. The game is fixed, the loot for up grading your characters barely shows up, you can BUY the up grades. The wanted missions lure you in early in the game giving loads of stuff, until you start levelling up and then it disappears. It’s a daily grind for no reward, everything about this game is boring. Atlantis Rising BORING Valhalla forever BORING Alliance Challenge BORING Mythical Titan BORING Raiding BORING and FIXED War event FIXED and the game already has picked the winner in favour of a team that lost last War, I now feel completely foolish to have wasted so much time, my suggestion DONT DOWNLOAD IT
Further to the above, the developers release new over powered hero’s luring weak minded people to buy, then weeks later nerf the hell out of them with “hero balance” It’s like paying into a pension only to be told later you’re not getting what you thought you were getting, robbing people of their hard earned cash.

Honest review, cash grab, unfair algorithms
The game is very good. Maybe too good. It can be addictively good. A fact that the company that owns it is well aware of, and you (if you have the ability) will end up parting with your hard earned cash, or you will progress at a 100th of the rate. Everything costs, and you will be sucked in for years, it really does take that long to build up to any decent level. I myself have played for about 15 months, spent quite a lot of money and only achieved a mediocre lvl 44. I do love the game tho and play every day, I get frustrated with algorithms, that purposely do not give tiles you need, purposely done I feel to cause frustration and therefore more spending. You can obtain new hero’s, but it will mostly be season 1 hero’s, which are woefully outclassed, unless again you start digging deep into your pockets. The artwork is very good . I get the feeling that the customers (players) are held in very little regard, and are seen as little more than cash cows

Not bad
It’s not a bad game to play but you save up gems for an epic summon and 99.9% of the time you’ll get the lowest rated heroes from the selection.
Matchmaking is terrible. In PVP you are always matched against someone much more powerful and can’t win. Or you can spend food (seems to be the most valuable resource) to try to find another opponent but you’ll inevitably be matched with someone much more powerful again, food is so useful you just shouldn’t waste it.
It’s obviously fixed to make you spend money but I feel with the chances of winning an epic hero so low it is not a game I will spend money on because I feel I’d be throwing more and more in just to gain excess useless heroes.

Do not pay for in game purchases
This game revolves around summoning heroes, which you either need tokens or gems for, you can totally do it without spending but it will take a while, and you may often feel annoyed at those who pay loads and have much better items than you
Everything is geared t try and make you spend more, reducing the quality of quest rewards so you spend more, poor odds at getting good heroes, all to get you addicted to the gambling nature of this game, the thing is, spending doesn’t increase your chances and you end up more disappointed because you have nothing to show for your purchase.
The only saving grace of the game are the alliances where you can meet sone awesome people and have a bit of banter, but seriously, try to play without spending or the gambling will burn you out and reduce any enjoyment the game could potentially bring.

Therapy for anger management issues
I love this game!!! I am forced to write this review after reading other reviews & comments about how this game is a waste of money.
I’ve been playing for just over a year now and have NEVER needed to use real money for anything in the game. I’m in a team/Alliance of 15 atm and battling a 7 star Titan….it’s tough but he’s almost dead. If you spend a little bit of time and effort you won’t need to use money!
This game is brilliant, there’s so much to do so many challenges - wars, raids, quests, Titans etc. You’ll never get bored. It does get harder as you progress through the game but that’s the best thing about it, if it was easy it’d be boring. If you’re ever stuck or not sure about something ask your team mates and there’s also so much help & advice available on line.
If you like a challenge then this is definitely the game for you

Purely pay to win
Having played the game for over 3 years I feel it’s necessary to warn those thinking of downloading that to make decent progress you will have to pay, regularly and often. This has become more blatant in recent months - I don’t feel that Small Giant have any sense of fair play. Sure, when you first start progression is made easy for the first few days but you’re still highly unlikely to summon any 5* heroes without paying. Even when you do pay for extra summons the chance of getting the better heroes and items is ridiculously low. If the developers brought in item and hero trading within your own alliance this would balance things out but despite being a feature requested regularly for years it’s never been implemented. I would avoid recommending this to new players, the only reason I still play is because of the time and money I have already invested in the game along with my alliance being a great group of people

Completely and utterly rigged
I will admit that this is a beautiful game but it is ruined by being rigged against you once you have gotten past the first 2-3 stages in the campaign. The tiles that you need to win the level are rarely there whereas the ones that you don’t want to use are always in large quantities. Also the game does not really let you win a fight based on how levelled up a hero is but more on how many stars they have and they’re special abilities, you know the parts of the hero that you can’t control.
The system for summoning the heroes is terrible because the normal daily summon always gives you the same crappy one star heroes. It’s very frustrating.
Overall this is a very bad game and I am extremely close to deleting it. The two star rating is based on aesthetic alone.

This started as such a delightful game, but as soon as you get passed the first stages and you start to establish yourself, it begins. Everything is rigged against you, wars, tournaments, dragons, it’s all created with a single purpose: TO FRUSTRATE YOU! Their algorithm ( and I think all of today’s gaming industry)is created to mess with your brain. To push you to spend money in order to get something. I understand the value of a purchase that can boost your heroes or your farming, but it’s getting out of hand. All is rigged, you need to pour tons of cash to stand a chance and believe me I know! I have spent a lot of money to find utopia, and guess what? IT DOESN’T EXIST! Stop spending money on this stupid games. They bring new stuff to buy every 1/2 weeks and unless your pocket is bottomless you need to spend slot of motto barely keep up…
They are a fraud, the arena system is crap. How can I get 5 times more damage from some lower lvl character with exactly the same hero as me??? Even if I have all the buffs in the game I still make less than half the damage he makes…
Conclusion: fraud crappy unfair game!!! WILL DELETE! DONT RECOMMEND!

Money pit
I started playing this game around 3 years ago, back then it was a great addictive game I’d spend hours playing, building up my base & levelling up the characters. At some point though it became a money pit, every time you open up the app you are bombarded with various offers ranging from £1.99 to £99. If like me you’re competitive you get sucked in, paying ridiculous money to get the latest heroes… problem is they started releasing new features & heroes constantly, meaning more offers & so on. It became less about building a great team to a completely pay to win dynamic. Each time a new set of heroes appear they are stronger than the older heroes, if you don’t pay you become weaker, plus heroes you spent time & resources levelling up become redundant. A frustrating waste of money.

An initially fun game, that tries to compel you to spend money on it like a slot machine.
Like all mobile phone games - these are out to make you spend as much as possible, for as little effort on their part.
While this was an initially fun and interesting game, it becomes painfully clear as time goes on that everything decent, is behind coughing up an insane amount of cash.
Just about everything in this game can be acquired by paying more money. Basically to even beat the non competitive parts of the game without wasting your entire life playing this game, one does need to spend money to get better heroes etc.
What’s more, everything is through “surprise mechanics”, so you are paying to use a slot machine.
I have spent hundreds, perhaps much more on this game, and only when one tallies this up, and compares it to what you might have done otherwise with the same amount of money - it should become painfully obvious that this was a ridiculous waste of money.
The insidious thing is that part of the trap, is that once you’ve “invested” that much into this game, it is often quite difficult to simply discard it all, as apart from the entrenched monetisation mechanisms; there is a fun game buried somewhere in here.
So like with all mobile games - don’t play this, and don’t fall into the trap of spending any money on this game.

Avoid if you want value for your time
Don’t be fooled by this utter cesspool of a game. The nice easy entry to play mechanics that actually make no sense later on in the game. The lure of pay to win, that yes you pay but in no way shape and form do you win. Recycled garbage heroes from one event to the next means any gems you faithfully save up to try your “luck” are a waste of the energy it took to get them. If you get lucky and get a 4 or 5 star hero don’t expect to get the ascension items needed to get that hero up there. And don’t expect them to do anywhere near the damage they do when you go against them in a raid. Be fully aware that higher tier raiding groups have full access to your tier and can and do pillage you every opportunity. Oh and don’t try make any sense of the raiding tiers. There isn’t any involved. Lv60+ players with their decupping methods ensure than any raids you win are short lived when they log back on and revenge you in seconds.

An honest review of a Potential great game....ruined by greed.
This game is an excellent mobile game as far as they go, it can appeal to various groups of people whether playing casually or intensively. With the usual build your base, progress through the stages and get stronger!
However be expected to spend money to progress into the higher ranks at any great speed. The game system is based around character purchases called heroes which you get to purchase more of (other than the daily giveaways or by training them once in the higher ranks, taking days to complete) via gems, which come in petty amounts of 2 or 3 for tasks, especially after reaching level 10.
This leads to a bombardment most days of “offers” where you part with your cash for savings on gems and other helpful in game materials through in game purchases.
Just to be clear though you can’t purchase a character hero you want.....by gain big in the gems department prepare to roll the dice with fingers crossed through a summoning process producing low quality heroes 97% of the time ( and that’s being generous ) with the occasional high yield ... it’s just betting without legislation for it!

Trading System-Update Idea
I honestly enjoy playing this game and I like all the RNG features which make this game very unique.
I rated 4* because I have not seen much significant change, such as the goblin balloon, which was not a feature I enjoyed very much as it is a pay-to-win feature which gives a ridiculously little amount of loot to free-to-play players.
So here is my idea for future updates:
-A trading system, where players can trade heroes, ascension/ crafting items and resources. (Either global or just in alliances) This would be a very much game improving update because some max 5* players would get rid of 4* heroes and would much rather have a 3* trainer hero instead. Whereas a newish player would have little use for that 3 star trainer hero and would much rather have a 4* not trainer hero. Same thing with emblems and titan parts or 4* items. This would very much help new players who would be confused by all these hundreds of different items and might just quit out of confusion, and with a trading system would find a good use for them.
And I don’t know, but maybe this could introduce trade tokens or ad-watches to allow you to trade.

Quite a disappointment
I enjoyed this game for a while but after some point got very disappointed because of poor balance of its random ratio and super pushy marketing. Spending lots of money which is a necessity in this game, if u would like to move forward and reach certain level, doesn’t mean anything in the end. Developers really should work more on fixing a random ratio problem and other technical issues because it’s becoming an absurd, 60 summons can give u only 3* and after you will be getting three 5* dupes. They should decrease chance of getting the same hero at least in certain period of time. However instead they are working on new marketing which pushes you to spend, like goblin balloon which simply ruins the nice picture of the base. And it’s just one out of dozens examples how this game consistently loosing its quality.

Needlessly complicated
It seems like a fun, thought out game with a somewhat generic, yet fun backstory reminiscent of LOTR, but the gameplay seems all over the place. I downloaded it for a CandyCrush type gameplay looking for some mind numbing fun. The first five or so rounds you are stuck with scripted gameplay that forces your hand in choosing which moves to make (spoiler: they are not the best available). Then you get to base making stage which seems a bit out of place. Why would you engage in base building? Surely there are better and more suited games out there that would satisfy all your base building needs. So I kinda left it after two minutes.
That said there is probably a good audience for that game. It seems well made. My only gripe with it is that along the way it also tries to be something it shouldn’t be

Frustrating and getting worse
I’ve played for about two years and have increasingly found the game is getting worse, the community is absolutely brilliant most players are happy to help and give direction, the game and creators however are both shocking. I understand most gaming apps are money makers but most paid gaming apps give a little back this game doesn’t and that is down to one thing , MONEY GRABBING CREATORS who do not have the players in mind. Most battles during war are only winnable if you’re opposition forgets to attack as the match making is atrocious, raid battles I find boring and not worth any of my time as the prizes are way below par. If you’ve got cash to waste by a lottery ticket don’t fill these peoples pockets.

Fixed!!!
If you like playing games that change the rules and move the goal posts on every update, then this is the game for you! I’ve been playing it for over a year and I’ve come to realise that it’s fixed. The matchmaking for wars is rubbish, sometimes putting you against teams that you’ll have no chance of beating or, when it does pit you against a beatable team, it will fix the match so that you lose anyway. The tiles rarely match the players you’re playing with, or your hits somehow do less damage than they should. The summons that you get VERY rarely give you decent players, often respawning the same rubbish 3 star players over and over and over again. Then of course there is the pay to win aspect, which you would think would work in your favour but doesn’t, still giving you cack players that cost you an arm and a leg for the privilege. It used to be good but now, it’s not worth the time. The developers have really fudged this game up. I’ve thought about purchasing similar games but this has really put me off. If you like to play to pass time or to wind down? Don’t bother it’s infuriating! Even the most peaceful and calmest of people will end up throwing their phone to the ground and stamping on it out of sheer frustration! Seriously, avoid at all costs!

Disapointment
I am playing around 2 years, spent lot of money and most of my 5* heroes are from training camp. Contacted support as comparing to people from my alliance I am very ‚weak’ player, all draws give me either 3*s or if any 5* same ones I have from training camp. It is well frustrating as I am not playing for free but have no benefits from spending money. People from my alliance are spending less money or none and have powerful teams and getting many goods to level them up, when I am struggling with simplest potions as have not enough building materials. I know it is luck- but with that much money spent- there should be at least small benefit. Will stop playing as I cannot grow anymore and it’s a source of frustration. Game should be fun and let you develop- not get you down all the time.

The best “match 3”
This is without doubt the best “match 3” game on the market in my opinion. Lovely graphics and interface, easy to navigate and beautiful gameplay.
There is always something to aim for, whether it’s upgrading your buildings, strengthening your roster or increasing the power of your hero’s and troops.
Do not listen to the nay sayers as you can progress nicely without spending a lot or any money at all. However, if you enjoy the game just spend a few pennies- (gems start from as little as 99p) it’ll help your game and it’ll help support SmallGiant who have created a brilliant game!

Gem Rewards should be commensurate.
Awesome game but I feel the Gem rewards should be increased to a quite reasonable level considering its level of usage.
I quite understand that the Gem rewards is what sustains the developers to carry on business but how can you reward someone after completing a milestone with say 2 gems that can’t even skip 10mins of building or crafting an item which required 10gems. For instance, I spend days to complete a mission and earn only 5 gems which cannot even help complete a building or crafting an item with 10 mins wait time.
The rewards of Gem should be at least commensurate with the degree it’s been used.

Totally time consuming, money sapping and ultimately enraging!!
Don’t bother with game if you want any fun. The statistics of you getting good heroes feels on par with winning the lottery, the time then taken to power them can be counted in several weeks, then there are talents which take even longer to build up. It took me 12 months to get a full 5* team (one of each colour) and about 2 and a half years to get one of each colour 4* army. Basically in over 2.5 years of playing pretty much daily I have an average team to fight in clan battles. This was with in game offer purchases. I still don’t have one fully levelled up and fully talented up 5* hero after all that time. I could be playing another 6-12 months before I’d have enough to talent up just one of the heroes fully. For all the times you feel like you are progressing the game is still a game of chance where depending on the colours given will depend on whether you beat any opponents... save your time and effort on something else.

Good game, great support from Small Giant
At first I found the game to be a real challenge to play for free. I hit levels that really felt like paywalls. That said I persisted and have managed to press on through without buying gems. Also it’s important to realise that the app developer needs to make money - these things don’t pay for themselves. The game overall is enjoyable and a good way to pass a bit of time.
Also a huge thank you to the app developers (Small Giant Games). My young son accidentally deleted his app and hadn’t linked it to his Game Center so lost his account. I contacted them and they were superb, great advice, support and guidance which restored the account (one mightily relieved and very happy boy as a result. The person I spoke to at Small Giant (An) was a real superstar, going above and beyond what I’ve ever experienced from any other developer - thanks An. To say thank you for their above and beyond service I made my first gems purchase (don’t get anything I needed but that wasn’t the point lol).

Fun game
Game is fun and very enjoyable. Various features enable you to have a different experience everyday however 2 big gripes that I just can’t ignore. Being forced to create a forum account to upload a suggestion is annoying. I quick pop up box in game would be sufficient. Secondly field aid. During war, the enemy team will have a slight advantage due to them being played as a bot. The field aid advantage is by the far the biggest load of bs I’ve ever seen. If you’re ever faced with field aid and 1 healer you’ll never win. The field aid is too quick so by the time you’ve done damage they’ve healed it all back up again. Please consider toning this down or just removing it.

So this game is amazing and that’s saying something because I don’t usually write reviews! I recommend that you get this app because it is the perfect does of action and puzzle. I love a good puzzle. Brilliant, but with a few tweaks needed
The game is excellent, not perfect but very close. I love the puzzle aspect and the base builder has a nice RPG feel added to the game. My only criticism is as follows. During puzzle gameplay, you need to match up 3 or more colours to make an attack. No problem there. After each wave, a new wave comes along to attack, again no problem. However, at the end of your previous wave of enemies, any matches that are made continue to attack a dead space before the next enemies come up. I’d like to see the matches held until the new enemies come on before they continue to attack as I’ve had it where I’ve killed the last enemy with 1 match and it’s wasted another 11 matches leaving me with nothing for the next wave. If that could be sorted it would be a 5 star game for me. It’s the only thing that bugs me on this game, everything else is brilliant. Keep up the good work! Just fix my issue 😏

Spoiling good system....
I am giving only 2 stars as a result of latest update that changed the rules in the event of a long fight during raid. The developer added some time frame feature and in the event of a lengthy game this kicks in and unless you kill all enemies you are classed as defeated. In the case of my duel I had all 5 of my characters with over 80% of health remaining with a healer in my squad while the enemy had 2 heroes both healers so it was taking me some time to use enough shields to charge up my heroes manna in order to use the special powers. The time kicked in and I lost. Before this update the previous system would have just changed the walrus to max damage. No it’s a terrible new idea that is favouring the attacked team and it spoils the raids experience. In this situation the victory should be judged by the number of heroes remaining and maybe the total of their life points which would be more accurate and fair. Apart of that the game is well made but this new change really spoils the fun.....

On the whole, it’s good.....
Game mechanics are good, and building your base is rewarding. Being part of an alliance is essential, well for me, especially when you get frustrated with some parts of it.
Patience is key, as your progression is rapid at first and then becomes very slow. Upgrading your heroes, troops and buildings takes a lot of time and resources. You can make this quicker but, be prepared to spend a LOT of money on the gems.
My biggest moan about the game is the system used to summon higher class heroes. This just seems totally broken and I’m at a point where I’ve disabled in-app purchases until they address this. A 10 hero summon costs 2600 gems; which you can get in game for free over a long period, or costs around £26. This says that you will get either 3*, 4* or the highest at 5* heroes. When you get 9 3* & a 4* on 3 separate occasions, this just feels wrong and broken. I appreciate it says a ‘chance’ and the odds become less on higher grade heroes but, it’s so deflating and you feel like you’ve wasted your money.
On the whole, it’s a good game and I’ll keep playing but, if I’d known about how much money you could waste, I’d probably have not spent anything at all.

The game’s alright
The pacing is just about manageable BUT its basically buy micro transactions or farm for days and get no-where
The game is fine till you get a full 3 star team at which point progressing further is a nightmare unless you pay to win. Challenges are good but not if the prospect of progressing hinges on you getting several 4 star characters who are strong enough and ridiculously difficult to get through the portal they tell us to use.
I think the scaling also needs a bit of work. It doesn’t need to be easy but there are points where you literally can’t get through unless you get stronger characters which takes forever if you try to do it without paying.

It’s all about the money
I would of at one point recommend this game to anyone as it can be quite enjoyable, but it takes months of being able to really get your heroes to full max power, in which while your waiting you get constantly raided for trophies and can’t progress against higher players and you feel useless taking part in the war as your heroes are too weak to make any difference, and any good alliance doesn’t want you, the only way to progress fast is to buy gems and hope you get a good hero. I lost over 800 gems during a glitch and small giant didn’t care as they are only interested on money they make from you. I don’t want to be part of a company like that and will never put a single penny into the game again. My advice is don’t download it as there’s nobody there to help you if you have a problem with purchase items. Find a game where you can be part of a team without it costing a absolute fortune as the price of gems is a total rip off. It’s not a nice company at all, your just their farmers

Expensive game to become good at
Have to agree with most of the other reviews, once you get to a certain point it’s impossible to win without spending a lot of real money.
The raids are very tactical and an interesting part of the game there is no logic to them one minute you can beat some one who is much stronger then the next raid some one weaker thrashes you, so you play someone the same strength thrashed, try a higher person than you thrashed, try a lower person thrashed then you suddenly beat a higher person again, it’s totally random and difficult to master or climb the rankings.
Gems are very expensive and if you wait for free ones & build up enough to spin for a new character you get a weak one or if it’s a half decent one it ends up being the same colour as a good one you already, you generally get a good character when you have spent real money.
The new war battles the rewards have been changed and are now better with the chests.
Good for a few weeks then you have to pay and pay a lot to compete, but if you do spend money the game can be quite rewarding.

Needs just a LITTLE work
This game is so close to being perfect. The positives are endless. Sweet graphics, easy to learn, addictive, variety of heroes etc etc. However if you wanted to perfectly level up a team without spending money you could be there a lifetime, literally.
The materials to ascend are near impossible to acquire. Troops take an eon to level up after a while and you simply do not get enough in game to level up. They need to implement a troop farm/house where you can make troops, much like heroes.
There is also no feature to view a raid battle if someone raids you so you cannot gauge how well your team performs. They need to either implement a replay feature or a feature where you can battle your clan members/your own team for free to test defence teams for raids and wars. I dont understand why there is no test feature in this game.
Other than that i love this game. I think i would be on it all the time if I could battle clan members or my own team as practice.

A non bias puzzle game
This game is great, there’s a lot to it as you can see by the other positive reviews but I think the best thing about this game is that it’s not rigged.
I’ve played loads of ‘match 3’ games in the past and some of them rig the puzzle pieces to force to buy add extra turns and buffs and it’s obvious that the puzzle pieces it’s giving you are rigged in order to force you to spend money.
This game isn’t like that at all. It gives puzzle pieces at random for you to progress through the levels. Upgrade your heroes to play the higher levels and progress.
It’s a really really good, addictive game!

Lack of reward, poor odds and expensive
He main premise of any game is reward for time spent. In the first few hours of the game you get just that, buildings are erected within a couple of minutes, plenty of fights to be won and easy levelling. After that it becomes an arduous unnecessarily long process of progression and the rewards just simply aren’t there. To get new stronger characters you have to acquire 300 gems which then only give you a chance (and a little one at that) of getting a decent character. To acquire these gems could take weeks playing a couple of hours a day. It’s obvious to even the most naive gamer that this game was created to farm money but even a large cash injection will give you a small chance of getting the reward. Has promise, IF the developers listen!
- Good match 3 crystal based game
- I like most of the challenges, some more fun than others
- After a couple of months playing I created my own syndicate of nearly 30 active players and despite the issues with the war matchups being awful, we were doing much better until they changed the algorithm for it again at the end of May 2018. The last matchup was a team far harder than us and we had no chance, proper set up to fail.
- War is supposed to be a PVP fair fight. It isn’t as the algorithm does ‘revenge attacks’ which hit harder than the heroes do sometimes! Wipes your heroes out in one cold smack. NO LONGER FUN from that point especially when matched with a far harder team in the first place and you cannot use a hero more than one time in each war
All that is needed for more than 3 stars is a fair war matchup with teams equal to each other and NO REVENGE ATTACKS. Its PVP, we don’t do extra revenge attacks in addition to the slapping we give the rivals! That would make it fairer and bring the fun back to it. It'd be extra awesome if you could reuse heroes in war, even if you had to give them 5 hours to recuperate or whatever like the rival seems to get...
But I don’t think anyone would listen, so it’s likely to go to app heaven, deleted and delegated to being on the list of ‘download again’ apps... Just another promising game ruined by greed

This is kind of like every other game out there these days. Free, fun to a certain point and then you hit a pay block. Either pay really money or uninstall the game. I say this not because you HAVE to spend really money you definitely don’t but the game without the normal progression stops being fun and it becomes a game like Pokemon Go it The Simpsons Tapped Out. Press a few things, wait a day for it to reset, repeat until you’re maybe strong enough to try new levels.
I don’t mind throwing some cash at free games but the only bundles that show any value are like £20 a pop and you’ll need to do that probably every 3-4 weeks.
TLDR: If you don’t want a game where you will eventually feel the need to spend money to actually have fun in the game then don’t download it.

Developers Cash Cow
I’m writing this review based on the game now - I am one of the higher ranked players in the game, and have been playing several months. Initially the game was fun and enjoyable until you progress past level 15 or so. You get no achievements or rewards for finishing the main storyline, and “heroes of the month” have now been brought in encouraging people to spend money to buy gems to get these heroes - there is no rhyme or reason to how they appear, and you can summon 30 heroes and not get any, or one and be successful. Due to the strength of some of these it makes for a massively uneven playing board.
The latest addition is “Challenges” which again are done with the intent of spending money but without the guarantee of any success or reward, and to actually win the final level needed to acquire loot is exceptionally difficult if not impossible for many.
Ascension items for heroes are hard to come by, and multiple numbers are needed for higher level heroes, making progression very difficult and completely down to chance.
If you want a game to play for a few days then delete, this will do well, but it’s changed massively from when I first started playing and not for the better!
