Auto subscription on download

I used to enjoy using the free version of this app (not the free, subscription IAP, just the standard app), but when I just re-downloaded the app it immediately threw me into accepting a subscription, so it was quickly cancelled and deleted.

Please remove this so I can enjoy the free version, without being thrown into a free trial subscription before making a decision on whether to purchase.

In the latest version on iOS, the preview in the app UI has less saturated colours than the final output. I also miss the PNG export option which seems to have been removed.

Crashes constantly on iPhone 13!!

This app would be awesome IF it worked!

I’m sure if you are only doing 1 or 2 photos it’s probably fine. For me, doing around 70/80 photos a day is useless. I have to frequently delete the app and re download it, always losing my work. The support by the developer is non existent (oh yes I’ve tried!)

If I hadn’t subscribed for a year it would be history by now.

Way too expensive

Down loaded the app then get hard sell to upgrade to full version for just over £2 per month…. Cancel at anytime! So it says BUT you can only have a 12 month subscription for around £25. Why do these developers advertise a monthly cost … cancel at any time when the minimum cost is annual £25. The 3 day trial is yet another trick unless you cancel as soon as you start the app many will end up paying for a whole year. If the app is so good, why not give a 7 or 10 day trial to really see if the app meets your needs/expectations. There are other apps in the market for a lot less if your money.

When downloading suggests free with in app purchases but the whole thing is an expensive subscription service with a ‘free trial’. It’ll catch a lot of people out and I don’t recommend. Should be clear upfront none of the content is free.

iPhone app GOOD; iPad version DOESN’T DELETE images

I’ve just paid for the full version; the different filters and effects are pretty cool, some are really good.

The problem I’ve had is with the version on my iPad (2018 10.5” Pro, if that makes any difference). When I’m done with the images I’ve imported to process in Prisma, I select the image(s) to delete, press the delete button, it says the number of images to delete, but the images aren’t deleted.

Everything works fine on my iPhone X.

Fix this bug on the iPad and the app gets 5 stars from me. Until then, it’s just 3 stars because I don’t like the build up of clutter.

I am sad I have to give a negative review. I used to love this app, but now each time you upgrade the app the developers take a style away. This is to try to get you to buy a subscription, which is very expensive, and to sign in (to give them your data). Each time you change between actions a window blocks you— a window that seems like you can’t go on without signing up (but you can). While I appreciate that the developers are adding new styles and having to keep up with Apple’s constantly changing iOS, the subscription price is huge, and some of us don’t want 700 styles. I also don’t think that taking away features previously given for the cost of the app is very honourable.

(In the meantime Prisma was still taking my money for features I couldn’t access). Contacted them again asking for a refund. Was told I’d have to ask Apple. But my money has gone to YOU. Was a fantastic app - now broken

I’ve been a Prisma fan for a couple years. It’s been a great tool for making distinctive images quickly for blogs I’ve posted.

Unfortunately it’s been broken for me for several weeks. I paid recently for annual access but whenever I open the app now it just freezes on my recent pictures. I can’t scroll down or select any pictures or any navigation options. I’ve rebooted my phone just to see if that fixed it, but nothing. It’s the only not working for me.

Prisma App

I initially liked this app so much that I took out a one year subscription. However, at some point early on in the subscription it stopped working. When you open it it displays the photos from your IPhone photo library but everything on the screen is frozen. You can’t choose a photo or any of the menu options by clicking on them as nothing happens. I’ve tried to contact the developers but can’t get through to them on the App Store link. I would like a refund and/or an explanation as to what has gone so badly wrong. No stars at all from me.

Seen a few of these apps that edit photos but prisma is a cut above. Can edit photos and they look like I’ve painted or sketched myself. You can change the level of effect too !! My fave effects are dragon 1, gothic, Broadway, aqua ! Backgrounds and borders a really cool too. Amazing app !! On another level !

Soo good but just a few issues pls read

So first of all the bad side of the app as soon as you enter the app after downloading it asks you to sign up for a membership and then you create a account but what it’s actually doing is sign you up for a PAID membership but it directly tells you sign up to use this app but NO it’s getting you to pay money every month just to use the app and then 2 weeks later I got a notification saying even though I didn’t sign up the notification said it’s time to pay you membership but I didn’t get a membership!anyway the good news overall this is a good app I totally recommend it if your willing to pay monthly and it gives you access to a whole world of filters and really makes your photos stand out but can you please fix this issues with the app because I had to delete it I hope this article helps you Thankyou for reading bye!!!

Amazing app. Love the options and the way the pictures are transformed into an art piece. The price isn’t bad if you will you use a lot and the payment options are vast. You could sign up for a week or more, the choice is yours. The 3 day free trial is worth it as it gives you an insight as to what you’re signing up for. You can unsubscribe after the 3 days but it’s a fabulous app with absolutely fabulous results.

Been using this app for a good while now and it was brilliant however over the last 6 months I had not used it at all. When I reopened the app nothing worked because there is no longer a free version and I have to subscribe. My only problem is I don’t use it that often to warrant spending a monthly fee. as I never managed to get it to open. Cancelled free trial then next time I tried to open it I got an offer of a reduced rate which I couldn't accept. The whole app just freezes on my iPad and my iPhone. I have no patience with bad apps.

You wrote a response to my last review nearly 2 weeks ago claiming that you were on it. You don’t mind taking the money but then delivering rubbish results. Sorry but I am fed up with you. Trial Of This App

It looked good on the adverts - However there are only 2 design features worth trying and of those 2 one of them cuts you’re picture and zooms in automatically cutting other people off the image. So really only one worth trying. Which makes it an expensive app. I think it’s more in the development stage at the moment... So due to its current lack of features & designs i won’t be subscribing at this time. Tried the Free Trial for Only an Hour then Cancelled. Will be deleting the App after writing this. Genuine Feedback. Given 1 star just for the one feature design only. The rest of them i can do on the i phones own camera edit settings for free.

You can go from beautiful art to a little bit naff if you’re not careful.

Doesn’t work like it used to

It’s such a shame.. I absolutely loved this app and used it daily as a step in my photo editing... I rely on HD processing but it is just non existent anymore. I’ve tested standard and hd on my iPhone and iPad and looked at the files on my Mac for comparison.. they are the same...goodbye good quality crisp images. Will change my review once app is working correctly again... it’s the only reason why I pay the subscription

Subscription model started - I stopped using it.

I like the way Prisma manipulates photos very simply to a painting style, but I only used it occasionally, with just one style, and for one specific purpose.

The subscription fee of ±£2.50/month is only equivalent to one rip-off coffee, but it does not take long for a few cheap subscriptions to add up to a big monthly total.

I am only prepared to pay a subscription for an app that I use almost every day. Prisma does not fall into that category, so I stopped using it and removed it from my devices. Prisma may win back customers disillusioned by the subscription if it offered a single payment version with limited number of photo conversions per day/month/year.

Great App, especially when free, but now the subscription is quite pricey!

Downloaded this app when it first came out which was free to use, and was quite impressed with it, as it was a fun app to use converting pictures. However there is a subscription now to use it, which is fine, but not at the price they are offering as I find it quite over priced for the average person just using it for fun converting perhaps one or two pictures per month.

I do highly recommend this app if you want to give your picture a twist, but for the average user like myself, I am afraid I will not be using it anymore unless the price is reduce to a reasonable one... shame really.

Would have given 4/5 stars, but only 3 stars due to the price.

It’s good... sometimes slow and wompingly expensive!

This is clever, beautiful and free... until you want to unlock something.... then, for £20 every year, for the rest of your life.... you can own it. Personally I’m tired of subscription paid services. I’m already paying Adobe, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Dropbox etc etc.... it just never ends! - hey... did I mention... the free app is great! I would love the full version.... and would even pay £20 perhaps.... but not every year.

Looks like this app is a con- just signed up for a free 3 day-just to see what the app was like. Wasn’t for me then I realised that I can’t actually cancel the “subscription” following the free trial. Sorry guys but this is a con. I don’t like the app, don’t like what it does and don’t want to pay for something that I used for approx 10 mins that was “sold” to me as a trial. Unable to clear subscription screen

I have used this on my iPad for a year without issue. Now huge splash ‘buy a subscription’ screen makes it impossible to go further. There is no way of closing this screen on my iPad. I have read previous similar comments from users and the reply is always ‘close the subscription part’. This cannot be done on an iPad. Shame as this was great app.

Edit - this has now been fixed so back to 5 star.

Appears to have gone subscription only, only 3 day trial free to use.

On opening the app today a pop-up appears asking which tier of subscription you want, with no obvious way to close it and continue using only the basic free filters as before; anything you press here simply takes you to a different level of subscription. There are plenty of free or single payment alternatives these days that offer everything Prisma does, I’d recommend trying those as the prices offered here are ludicrously over the top.

Some good filters

I had been using it for awhile and would have bought this app if available for £10 as a one off payment, however all of a sudden to use it there needs to a subscription. I used two of the filters to make some cool pictures. It’s not worth paying a yearly subscription. It’s not photoshop! The app is free on my iPhone, but you have to pay a subscription on my iPad. Why?

Expensive, slow, buggy, sometimes wonderful

This review is going to contradict itself. The filters are wonderful - brilliantly done. However, the latest update crashes regularly on all my iDevices. In addition, the price for the full version is simply too much.

For a few cool features, Prisma Labs are charging a fortune - I suspect that they are profiteering or running out of money because the owners have been paid too much.

I would pay if it were cheaper, but as a very occasional user, the prices are silly - nonetheless, when it crashes, as it has done all day, then I would not recommend at all.

As said: expensive, slow, buggy and sometimes wonderful.

Great app but one time payment would be better

This is a really nice app with lots of good effects but the price of the subscription is way too expensive for a photo filter app. If it were a one time payment I would be happy to buy it as this is an app that I would use once in a while. Please give us a one time payment option developers - the subscription is really off-putting!

Too buggy

Prisma is a novel photo editor, using AI-ish technology to apply various artistic filters. A few are excellent, some quite good, but a number of them are only ho-hum.

The main problem is however that the app can be quite buggy; buggy enough to make it unusable, especially on older or lower specced phones.

Do try the Free Trial to see how well it works for you, using a number of filters and using the HD option on pics from your photo library, before committing. And remember to cancel the subscription within three days, it is quite expensive).

Previously loved this app, but with the update it has taken away some of the best filters and presumably hidden them behind a paywall. I’d happily pay a few quid for the old package but when updates take stuff away I’m being conned. This is a dishonest way to work.

Subscriptions are borked in a very niche way

Got a full premium subscription on my iPhone. Had the app on my iPad too, so did restore purchases on the iPad to get the subscription to register there too. That worked right up until I posted to Instagram. Returning to the app, it had forgotten the subscription.

Either, you can’t have a subscription recognised on more than one iOS device, or there’s something buggy there.

So, developers, which is it?

Not working anymore

Had this when if first came out was good loaded the art onto your pictures fast .... but now it’s not working at all. All I can do is load a picture from my phone then there are not are styles to pick it’s just blank

When I installed this app it was already letting me do things! Which was good, but I don’t even know how to sign up! It says “log in”. But I’d like to create an account instead. Thank you for reading this, it was a waste of your time reading though and please reply to me so I don’t have to delete it!

Wonderful effects but not worth a subscription

Like a previous reviewer, I would gladly pay a one time fee for this. I don’t need to share my photos / effects, so the subscription service isn’t worth it.

Thanks to reviewer “Morden” I have found my favourite effects in the Library after a previous upgrade hid them.

I also had to reset my Google Photos settings on my phone so that my saved pictures got backed up. The Prisma album wasn’t automatically included.

I love the effects for “postcards” of my holiday, best for street scenes where the people included are just passers by.

Great app... or it was before paywall/sub

I used to love using Prisma, and it’s a very well done app ! I am now I’m a bit less enthusiastic. The app have a series of free filters that are very nice but the redesign made it more difficult to find them. I actually updated this review (2 to 4 stars) because I initially saw many free filters disappear. They actually didn’t, but a lot of them are turned off by default. You need to reach in the library to turn them back on. A “how to” after the update would have been welcome. However I believe the subscription only model is WAY over-priced for extra filters and HD quality. I would definitely have paid a one time price, but the subscription makes no sense to me, other than a cash grab.

DO NOT TRY A FREE TRIAL

I gave the free trial a whizz, now can’t unsubscribe. The link provided to unsubscribe just give an error message on my phone and the one provided in the confirmation email just takes to a fake iTunes Store that never loads. Tried on phone and on computer - can’t get to anywhere where you can unsubscribe! I’m not paying £18 a year for this, it’s not worth that at all.

Disappointing privacy policy or lack of one

First tome starting the app since the GDPR came into effect and was asked to agree to t’s & c’s, fairly standard, but once you click on them two more boxes appear that if you uncheck mean you can’t use the app. Forced stuff like emails and selling data should be optional so left with no other choice than to uninstall.

Edit - further to the developers response it still isn’t good enough that you cannot opt out of having your data sold and emails sent to you when that’s what the gdpr is all about. There’s no transparency at all. Avoid like the plague.

Shame

A great app which has given me a couple of wonderful images, whose developers have sadly decided to join the subscription train that is plaguing the App Store. Here is the thing: I am a professional software developer, and I know the cost of producing an app like this. But as a consumer, you can’t expect me to fund your future development. If there is an ongoing cost to service an app, such as cloud hosting in Microsoft 365, I understand and am willing to pay a monthly fee. I am not, however, willing to do so for an app which I download and use offline. You want to produce additional content in future? Fine, let me buy the app now and pitch more things to me as IAP when they’re ready. But I’m not paying you for the rest of your lives for something which I downloaded a year ago. I’m surprised and disappointed that people think this viable.

You got GDPR wrong

Nice little update. But now you can’t use the app unless you give permission for the developer to use your data. That’s not how GDPR is supposed to work (I work in CRM - I know how this is supposed to work). You are not supposed to force people to opt-in you are supposed to give them the right to choose. It is not supposed to be a condition of use. You also have no need (fair usage) of my data. This is a photo editing app. Use of MY data cannot be considered fair usage by the developers.

This is a shame because this is one my favourite apps and I have had to delete it because you insist that unless I give you permission to auto process my data, I can’t use the app.

Well guess what? You can take a hike.

Let me know when you employ someone who understands GDPR.

Muggedware?

Having downloaded this app and a few others to try out, it seems that I have been mugged long before I have had time to verify that it suits my needs. A free download trial version is a normal concept and after well over twenty years online I am very familiar with that option, which has lead to my purchase of a great many programs for Macs and in the more distant past, for PC. But I am pretty new to iPhone apps and this one has caught me out. Given that I have invested a lot of money in Mac Pro desktop and laptop machines and powerful photo and graphic packages, I am a bit sceptical of the potential this app might have in comparison. If it fails to justify the cost of subscription I will terminate the sub and avoid any apps that use the same hard sell method which I firmly believe is doomed to bite back...

Once good app ruined by subscription

I remember first downloading this app and was amazed by it. You could choose all these different filters and never even had to pay. Then one day when I joined, there was a new update where loads of filters had to have some gimmicky subscription which I won’t pay for. They could have at least just made it a paid app instead of having to pay money every month with some stupid subscription. Though if you are willing to pay all that money, the filters are actually very good. It just, sadly, they got greedy.

Bad move with adding a subscription

Greed kicks in again. I totally agree that developers need some remuneration, however, this was sufficiently handled with ad revenue or the additional option to ‘pay a £5’ or so to remove ads. On a popular app that would result in a large revenue stream in either option. Now this subscription model has been introduced, some of my favourite filters are locked. Personally I would never enter a subscription on these apps, just not worth it and it’s way too expensive. I have uninstalled the app and know that many / most people will too.

Confused?

When I first got this app I thought it was brilliant! And to be fair it still is.

However I only ever use two filters, Monoku and Tokyo.

And in their latest “bug improvement” update (3.9.3) has deleted them!!!

Some of the others didn’t work properly.

However those two worked all of the time.

Please put them back. Please.

Then you can have 5 stars.

One day later after a very polite email....they have reinstalled my two favourite filters and all is well again.

Why change something that was perfect

The subscription is a total gimmick, how many people will pay a monthly/yearly subscription for something that was once free. I’m sure the quality of images after the filter has been purposely reduced to make the “HD subscription” more enticing. But no. Been with this app since the start but I’m done with it now.. I would have payed a one off fee to begin with for the app but this subscription nonsense is a joke. You’ve made a lot of users uninstall as will I.

There’s a problem with IPhone 6 Plus. Certain effects crash the phone if trying to use pic from library when using Hires mode. I had to cancel my purchase. I sent an email to the developer but no reply. Also I tried to recreate a pic with Candy using the same parameters as the “original” Candy and the effect was not as good. It seems there is a different render system.

Grrrrrrr.

I may be a bit ‘Victor Meldrew’ but when an app which can best be described as ok offers an update and promises of improvements and exciting innovations and, on opening, hurls a pop-up at you offering an extortionate monthly or yearly subscription for the features mentioned - I’m inclined to mutter ‘I don’t believe it!’ (even if I do - because it happens more and more) - and then I vent my feelings by rather sadly writing a review. Annoying and boring - and wasn’t brilliant in the first place. Greedy and sneaky.

Subscription? DELETE!

I know that subscriptions are the ‘in’ thing at board room meetings these days. Good luck with that -it’s like the public and their wanting to jump on the bitcoin train thinking it’s the answer to instant riches. Look everyone wants to get rich, but I’m sorry to break it to you. I’m not interested in trying the app out because if I find it useful and I want to pay to upgrade, I know that another monthly deduction from my account is something I have absolutely zero interest, so there is no workable upgrade path in this user. The only workable solution was to I reclaim the space the app was taking. 😕
