Description
Dictate allows to dictate text messages into your device instead of typing. It uses speech to text voice recognition technology and it's main purpose is social media text messaging. Never type any text, just dictate it using your speech! Using the clipboard technology, nearly every app that can send and receive text messages can be configured to operate with it. The speech to text recognition engine is the builtin one of iOS devices.
► Convenience of Dictate
In order to send text messages quickly there is a "Send"-button that allows to launch the target app, i.e. Twitter, Facebook, WhatsAapp, Flickr, Email or whatever else is capable of coping with text messages. If you for example select Email using the "Send"-button, the builtin email application is immediately launched and a new email is automatically created that contains the transcribed text from the speech to text recognition. All you need to do is to fill in the message receiver and send it. This works similar for all other social media apps.
► Time saving of Dictate
The benefit in saving time of speech to text technology is tremendous. Compared to typing the savings in time of dictating it can be up to 80%. You also can dictate messages while being in the car, you just need to speak them. There is no more need to type on the display. (Typing on mobiles while driving is forbidden in many countries!)

You can use Dictate right out of the box without any restrictions. If you want to use the "Send"-button more frequently, please upgrade to the Pro Version. This allows unlimited usage of the app !

I am giving this app a review of one star because every time I press record it asks me to review the app. I bought this app and shouldn’t be forced to review it if I don’t want a pop up every time I use it. Worse still in order to review it and get rid of the pop up it takes me 20 mins to find a nickname that no one else has chosen before. Impossible situation to put customers in.

I’m Pretty impressed !
The pro version allows you to dictate without the time limits that hobble most other dictation systems, including the iPhones inbuilt dictation service. This is a pretty accurate speech recognition system. It’s surprising how much you can write in such a short time. It’s pretty amazing.
If I had any criticisms, the interface looks a bit cheap and tacky. But that’s just a subjective view. Also there seems to be a bug in edit mode, when you’re trying to position the cursor the whole text seems to scroll upwards. (On My XR anyway)
Fix the bug and it’ll get a full 5 stars from me. :-)

Giving children confidence.
We use this app in school, especially in English. It has given children who struggle with spelling the confidence to use the higher vocabulary that they know, but have feared to try to use due to spelling.

Functionally, very good and accurate transcribing app. Marked down because of the incessant and frustrating request for a review every single time the app is used. I appreciate and acknowledge the need for reviews but such requests become counter-productive and irritating when they are presented to the user everytime they interact with the app. Suggestion; every fifth time

Dear sir this is the worst app in this area I have used it is like using a 1990 device
The constant adds are a great distraction I wold put my RD into good technology and stop the adds our use it yourself and see

Useful though not perfect
I’ve been asked to review two days after purchasing the app so little time to thoroughly use it. However, I am finding it very useful though it does misprint quite a few words. I am expecting that further down the line it will learn them.
I may give it 5 stars when I’ve used it longer but in general I would say it’s a good and useful app.

So far so good
I am enjoying this app at the moment. I can speak quicker than I type so it enables me to get the gist of what I need to say down. I then can check it. The app is still new to me and I am hoping that it covers all I need to do. When I am finished writing I then email it to myself. It is fairly accurate.’

Not working on iPad

Lots of adverts
Every time I dictate some text, an advert appears also adverts constantly rolling at the bottom of the screen. Does anyone know how to stop this?

I tried to select some text from an existing document using select an copy.
The app did not allow me to copy the text to the app.

Fed up with upgrade requests stopping functionality!
I was enjoying using Dictate until today (1 week in) when My work has been seriously impeded by the app requesting to be upgraded! Nothing works while the message is displayed and, indeed, when you try to do a send of your text, you cannot, because the ‘please upgrade’ message takes precedent! I am fed-up with it!!!

Enjoying this app
I am enjoying using Dictate as it has significantly reduced the amount of time I spend answering emails so I feel less stressed and more organised. Most voice to text apps have been useless while Dictate has far exceeded my expectations. It is correct approximately 85% of the time which is wonderful for me as I have a strong Texas accent. Words such as ‘for’ will always register as ‘four’ so I am grateful that editing is also quick and easy.

Really good for beginners
I found that my typing was taking too long when trying to do full two page descriptions for my job. This made it so much easier and I was surprised at how quickly it followed my dictation and how accurate it was. Definitely recommend!!

Very accurate and good with technical terms
I’ve used other dictation apps which were not as good. This one seems to understand medical terminology and massage phrases without too much need for me to make corrections afterwards. Would recommend.

As a rule I restrict apps to minimum privileges- that completely stopped the app working when I first started it and little indication of what was wrong.
Once I sorted that it works as expected.
One star off because it uses a credit every time I press copy even if the text has not changed.

Accurate and fast
Not free abut v cheap to send . Useful for people with arthritis and neuropathy . Good app - would be better to have a more professional look but don’t let me put you off . If you prefer to speak or carb text easily ( I have Parkinson’s disease so it’s perfect for that ) .

Absolute God Send
I have to write reports on a daily basis. I suffer from pain when writing too long making reports writing an absolute chore.
All I do now is speak my report to my phone, email it and paste it into my report template.
It means I can dictate as soon as I finish a task I need to include in my report meaning my reports are also more detailed and accurate.
