Deleted my payslips
I do not receive my pay slips anymore as this app has deleted them all!! Tried getting them back via the junk box like they said but no hope!

Seems a lot of complex setting up and then you go through emails you’ve received saying if you want to continue but the most fundamental requirement to stop new spam or not allow repeats seems to be either not in it’s capabilities or beyond the aver persons technical ability

Doesn’t clean spam - just unwanted newsletters
The idea is great, so three stars for that. But, it’s slightly misleading. The app does NOT clean your actual spam (which Outlook seems to ignore!), it gets rid of newsletters and subscription emails. I uninstalled it, as I need to get rid of the daily spam that is relentless. Lovely app though, easy to use, clear, safe - just didn’t do what I needed it to. 🤷♂️

Just link your email and it categorises the the brands/senders and then you can choose whether to continue getting sent emails, delete them or stop them all together.

Worked well until it didn’t show up all my emails
I had to delete as my inbox reached 500+ (I know that this is nothing compare to the thousands people have but for me, it’s a lot) and there were so many email subscriptions that just weren’t showing up on this app.
The whole purpose of this was defeated, but other than that I actually enjoyed the user experience, hence why I’ve given an extra star.

Keeps disconnecting from my Mail box
This would get 5 stars if it didn’t keep disconnecting from my email address. It’s really frustrating and doesn’t remove all spam so not sure how I can get a better filter. Maybe delete my email and not give it out to anyone😵

Time saving!
This is just what I needed to get rid of thousands of emails that had accumulated over the last year or so. I’ve so far got it down from 23k to 8k emails. It would be great if there was a search option in the list view so you could search for a particular sender or to sort them by name as when I’ve been going through I’ve found multiple emails from the same sender but from different email accounts. Also it would be great if you could view what the email contents of the particular sender was as sometimes I had to go back into the emails to check what they were to do with, for whether to keep it or not. It would be great to just have a snippet view of the email to help you decide. But great app so far and helping to reduce my mailbox size to make it more manageable!

Great Idea
But in practice not so good. I contacted them for help as I was having problems and there was a FAQ section that stated someone would get back to me. This never happened. Indeed, instead I find myself spammed with unnecessary email from Cleanfox themselves 🤦🏼♀️ telling me my account linking had failed (it hadn’t) and to login again etc.
Unfortunately all I am able to see is very old emails. There are some specific (recent) emails I would very much like to delete but they do not show up in the list. The spam list has my car insurance provider on it together with some other stuff that most definitely isn’t spam. Clearly the algorithm for working out what is and isn’t spam, is awry. Mostly I am disappointed that I had no response to my plea for help.

My first ever review and what a mess around!
I had high hopes for this app seeing as their ad made it look so simple. Over 30 minutes later and it’s still not set up…it’s been deleted, I’m not that desperate!
Through the app I signed into my Microsoft account and was given no option but to set up two factor authentication, however I could only set that up if I got the Microsoft Authentication app.
(So a second app was needed for this to work!
That app wanted me to sign over every password stored on my iCloud…but no method on how to do that either)
Realising that ClearFox would be using my emails and passwords, it would technically grant access to all my passwords…not a chance, nobody should trust technology that much!

Perfect app to save space in ur phone
I am one of those people who gets irritated with notifications on my screen. I have had my email for a very long time and this gets a huge amount of newsletters and other rubbish through everyday. It’s a hideous process deleting them and unsubscribing it myself. One time I nearly cleared out all my emails (important ones including) by mistake. I wish I found this app before that happened. This app helps to clear out all the nonsense from ur inbox and keeps it light n clean. Life saver

Great concept, but
It’s a great idea. Unfortunately there’s no option to bulk process the subscriptions, so whilst it’s infinitely quicker than doing it fully manually it’s far from as quick as it could be.
Edit:
To respond to the developers response: the change view is actually top left, and there’s no way to select all except for spam. Which leaves me manually swiping through or selecting 700+ emails. Such a silly waste of time

Loved the sound of this app. Absolutely brilliant idea. Let it download all my emails for hours. Deleted 10,000 plus then went onto my gmail and all emails are still there and I’m still getting all new emails from the companies I deleted so it doesn’t actually work.

Looks great, didn’t work for me
This app looks amazing and what it promises is exactly what I was after.
Sadly the first scan took 5 hours then ‘an error’ occurred. So I scanned again. 5 hours later another ‘error’. I deleted and re-installed the app. This time the scan was over 7 hours, followed by a tutorial. After that I was told nothing was scanned etc so it started scanning again. Then….that’s right, an error. So I deleted the app. Was a waste of time for me unfortunately.

Been waiting for years for this app!
Just what I needed. I tend to scan my email and don’t delete. Over the years this is practically effective at processing day to day but has left me with a huge volume of mail and unread mail. This app has reduced this in a few hours and deleted thousands of emails and allowed me to either stop mails and delete all previous or delete previous ones and allow future (when I’m not sure if they will remain useful) You can obviously just keep highlighted mails too. It has a familiar swipe action that allows these functions to be achieved depending on direction of swipe. Quick, accurate and highly effective. Excellent. The stats on progress and carbon data are both terrifying and rewarding.

Does not clear as described
Saw an advert for this and figured it would be great for clearing the junk. It’s not. Synced my gmail and followed instructions. Still has over 3,000 emails unread- most from spam companies such as wish. Without paying for premium there’s no clear way to say delete all emails from wish etc.
There’s a swipe system like tinder as to delete or keep from senders. It’s not applicable to all emails and so pointless.

Absolute waste of time
Downloaded for my partner who forever has 20k unread emails in their mailbox. The app turns on and asks to sign in over and over and over again never leading anywhere. Asks you to enter your email and password then go through 2 step verification and generate a 16 digit password, each time the 16 digit password gets generated it sends you back to the beginning to get a new 16 digit password. Tried 6 devices and 4 different email accounts to see if the error was with the device or email address but it’s just the app that is rubbish. Highly concerning considering it took our emails and passwords. AVOID!!!

Didn’t delete anything
When I downloaded this app I thought it would scan all my emails and I happily go through deleting them all in groups which I did on the app and it says I have deleted 4000 emails yet when I go into my emails my email is still completely full of emails. I just want my email box to be completely cleared except for stared emails of course I want to keep them. Let’s hope it’s just a delay and I will try again tomorrow. It’s just frustrating how gmail doesn’t delete emails after a certain period of time. Strange thing is it only took 10 minutes to completely scan my emails when I thought it would take hours on how many emails there are.

This App is absolutely amazing, I receive so many emails everyday from many different businesses and I just don’t have the time to be sat there clearing out the ones I need and don’t need, if you’re in the same position as me then I would 100% recommend using Cleanfox! Any unwanted emails wave goodbye to them! You can sort pretty much anything out using this app for your emails such an amazing app! I had over 10 thousand emails and was able to clear all the unwanted emails within 5 minutes! Couldn’t ask for anything better!

I think I might be like this app bcs 1 - functional optimised design.
It made its job clear and fast, for sure more useful than deleting everything manual.

It doesn’t work
This app took the whole day (literally around 15 hours ) scanning my mail (gmail), finally finished, but then never gave me the option to choose what to keep or not. It reports that the mailbox has been cleaned but absolutely nothing has been cleaned. No option to scan again, or go through newsletters, that I can see.

Bait-and-Switch???
Downloaded. Input email account information. Three days, so far, and it’s still rummaging through my email account and sends ‘ghost’ access links to my email address when I attempt to connect to the Cleanfox account I setup. Awaiting for a response from customer service, but I am feeling terribly anxious about what the cost/trade off will be for granting access to this application. What could possibly stop an access link from reaching an inbox that they have in their system/that they have access to? I’ve sent over 20 reconnect email (link) request. Now I just want out (after assuring my account information is erased from their system). Perhaps it worked/works effectively/seamlessly for some; however, Cleanfox not being able to send a simple email link is too alarming for my comfort. Beware.

Great simple app so far, really helping me clean out the 100,000 unread marketing emails.
But I want to keep emails with orders/invoices, so it’s more a companion app to use with a desktop. I can’t just delete everything without filtering for any important info first. Plus, there are many names I don’t recognise, so I need to check on desktop first.
A) Would be ideal to have a preview of an email before deleting.
B) need a way to safely filter out order/invoices and any account info before deleting the batch

Very very disappointing
Downloaded in good faith and initially was very happy with both the user experience and sorting system.
However, even though it says it’s ‘cleaned’ your inbox and supposedly gets rid of all the spam, I continued to get unwanted newsletters and emails that I’d specifically asked to be deleted.
I wrote twice to customer services, asking if they could help me and both times, my account was disconnected. First time I thought it must be a mistake, but the second time? I even politely asked in my second email to them to please please come back to me and they just deleted my account again!
Very odd. Very unprofessional and I’m really disappointed with the lack of customer service. This could be a great app but it fails to deliver on many levels.

True life saver!
My list of email subscriptions had gotten way out of hand over the years and I had no idea where to start. I’d spend hours sorting but it would still be total chaos. However, in minutes, Cleanfox has scanned, organised and sorted this mess and I’m truly grateful! Thank you.

Always end up coming back
I’ve used Cleanfox on and off for some time. As a bit of a hoarder, my email accounts (and I have several) become overloaded pretty quickly. I find that I use it for a bit, but get to a point where I panic I’ll delete some ancient receipt that at some point I might once again need (this has never actually surfaced as an issue!). A few months later, after trying a few other apps, I always end up coming back to Cleanfox.
This is a fantastic app for cleansing you inbox(es) from newsletters and ridiculous emails. I got a bit frustrated when I realised that rather than actually unsubscribing from newsletters, it would just automatically delete them, but at least they are honest about it now and have changed their descriptions.
Other than that, I genuinely can’t fault this app. If you find yourself overwhelmed by nonsense, then I highly recommend it! If only there was something similar for outside your email!

Sure it deleted loads of “newsletters” I still had to manually decide what to do with each one found 880 times even those that only had 1 email from?!. I accidentally selected some I wanted to keep so I made a note and thought that I could search and remove them from the trash but they are gone gone now. No idea what it was doing. Would rather have more control and instructions then this brutal and very slow manual progress.

I think this is a good app because there’s no adds and it helps to sort out your mailbox what is very useful the only thing is that I can think of that could make this app better is the logo the logo on this app really isn’t good but if u make a shortcut on your phone it will let u change the logo

All “deleted” emails still in inbox
Half an hour after I did the scan and went through deleting all detected emails and subscriptions, all the emails are still in my inbox. Doesn’t seem to have worked at all, although the app is telling me my inbox is clear. The app/interface offered a good user experience so it’s a shame it doesn’t actually work.

Nearly got hacked by this app
Well u see I was logging in my email and I just see 3 messages from my email saying this app has been blocked a unknown device has logged in and I clicked on it and it was saying change your password before the person logs in and it said unknown device from Germany so I changed it and it said your account is now protected we will be looking into the device!

Great way of clearing out outlook
I’ve had a Hotmail account for about 15 years or more so naturally after this long it was getting too full with about 120k unread. Managed to run this and delete about 10,000 or so in an hour or two, now running the app scan again as I think it might have finished early the first time.

Suspicious and doesn’t work
Having been very suspicious about how this connected to my gmail account, I went ahead anyway because of the very high ratings.
Initially it seemed to work, albeit I then had to do a tinderesque swipe left for huge number of sites I no longer wanted to be subscribed to. A pre-checked list with ability to exclude would have been a lot quicker.
Once complete (I did this about 6 days ago), I still keep getting emails from marketers, but there is nowhere on the app to refresh the unsubscribe. It just seems to proudly tell me my mailbox is clear. It is not and there is nothing I can do via this app to rescan. This morning, 3 newsletters were added to the swipe mechanism which is a start, however I’m still getting multiple emails in my inbox.
I have now read through the reviews and see that whilst the App Store suggests the rating is very high, there are a lot of unsatisfied customers. It feels to me that the system might have been gamed somehow.
I almost never write reviews but feel compelled to do so here. Beware

Fan-Foxing-Tastic!
Literally exactly what I needed! I had no idea it was this simple to delete thousands of emails in no time. I’d been putting off sorting through all my subscriptions for ages but with this app I didn’t have to spend hours looking through emails and clicking unsubscribe as it did it all for me! I’m still amazed it’s free!

I did download this app and it seems very easy to use and it could delete multiple emails and it would be so smooth however I found that because I am on an Apple ID email that means it takes a long time to set up and it’s very tedious and annoying I didn’t end up setting it up because it was just completely useless it didn’t even automatically generate a password

I read the negative reviews and gave this app a go to give it a try and I found out it actually works!The reason I gave four stars is that there should be an auto delete (as far as I can tell there might be but I can't find it) and I think that this app is brilliant for spam situations. Definitely recommending to a friend.

Useless
Complete waste of time. It has been running since last one month but hasn't finished. I have deleted mailbox atleast 10 times and restated the scan but all in vain. Dropped an email to customer support, no response

I’m not sure if is working
I think this app may be broken, as a few other reviews said but I downloaded anyway to see if it would work as I was desperate to clear out my inbox!
I left the app running for an hour and deleted the newsletters it flagged up in my inbox from the app but they haven’t actually been deleted from my inbox which is a shame! Please let me know if you manage to fix this!

Does not seem to work more than once
I’m not sure if I’m using it wrong or you have to subscribe but other than 405 emails that were in my deleted items I cannot get rid of hardly anything. I was expecting it to be a bit like outlook’s sweep when it will purge loads of the emails you select. Maybe my expectations where too high or my download is a duff, I just can’t see the point-it does not work.

Worked well once and never again!
Same problem as many others. Initially it seemed promising: several hundred newsletters detected and then apparently dealt with. Since then it continues to detect none, even when the same newsletters that I have allegedly already unsubscribed from continue to arrive.
The response from customer services was delete my account and try again, but after 6/7 rounds of deleting and recreating, I am really getting nowhere.
Think this is just a broken app.

Was good at sorting through the first 300 emails but then suddenly it said that my inbox was now clean and that they’d finished. But that’s clearly not the case as I have 4000 more emails that I want to get rid of? It literally just stopped sorting them saying that they didn’t clean personal emails? Those 4000 emails I have aren’t personal, over half of them are spam and the app didn’t sort them?
The app is saying that my inbox is clean and it’s literally not? I tried adding the same inbox again to see if it would do it again but it keeps coming up saying they’ve cleaned it and they haven’t

RIDICULOUS!
I installed this app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and it worked beautifully for cleaning gmail. However it refused to accept my hotmail password, anyway I installed it on my iPhone 6 s plus, where it refuses to accept any passwords at all. So rather than write a bad review I thought I’d contact the developer by email, the problem there was that after composing the email there was no way of sending it. In which case I became annoyed hence this bad review. What should’ve been, according to the developers description of the app a great experience I experienced the exact opposite. I’ve still got it installed on both my phones, because if I can get it to work it’ll be great. I hope the developer reads and reacts to this review, sorry about bad review but I had no choice.
