Description

The legendary ARP sound, exquisitely reproduced in software.
ARP ODYSSEi - A mobile analog synthesizer for iOS.
The ARP Odyssey of 1972 has earned an unshakable position as a classic analog synthesizer. In 2015, KORG produced the ARP ODYSSEY, a complete reproduction of the original. The ARP genes that shook the worldwide music scene are being passed on, and its history continues.
The next platform for the ARP ODYSSEY is iOS. We want the unforgettable ARP sound to be easily available on a device that as many as possible of today's players can obtain; this resulted in the "ARP ODYSSEi" app for iPad / iPhone. Based on the revived ARP ODYSSEY, we used KORG's proprietary CMT circuit modeling technology to reproduce the analog feeling and sound of the original as closely as possible. We've also given it numerous enhancements that are possible only with software, such as long-awaited polyphony and built-in effects.
The real analog ARP ODYSSEY, and now the uniquely evolved ARP ODYSSEi, brings the universal fascination and inimitable sound to every device.
* Due to differences in CPU speed of iPads / iPhones, iPad 3rd gen/2/iPad mini/iPhone 4s are not supported, only iPad Air/iPhone 5s or later is recommended.
[ Features ]
- Faithfully models the circuit of the ARP ODYSSEY: The circuitry has been reproduced using KORG's proprietary CMT (Component Modeling Technology), developed over the years starting with the KORG Legacy Collection.
- New functions to create all-new ARP sounds: Added a voice assign mode that allows you to play chords, an arpeggiator that can be programmed in detail like a step sequencer, and effects that can transform the sound in diverse ways.
- Get all three of the sought-after revisions: In addition to the standard design of the Rev3 with its black panel and orange silk-screening, you can optionally obtain the white-paneled Rev1 and the black-paneled gold silk-screened Rev2 designs, together with fifty new preset sounds that take advantage of the distinctive filters of those models.
- Produce music together with KORG Gadget: ARP ODYSSEi can be used in conjunction with the "KORG Gadget" music production DAW app that has won numerous awards around the world. If both apps are installed, it can be used as the "Lexington" gadget inside the KORG Gadget app.

This synth sounds amazing and could be a major part in any musicians synth studio but the integration woefully inadequate, come on Korg sort this out you are leaving it short.

Great sounding synth, but missing important IOS items

Version 1.0.3
I really love playing and programming this wonderful sounding synth and would fully recommend this to anyone who loves synths.
However, this is still missing some fundamental items and has not been updated for some time now. I would expect to see the following included, considering the price of the app:
1. No IAA Panel:
Although on the Korg website, it states that it supports IAA, it does not display the all important IAA panel, with host link, transport, & record buttons. This happens when launching it from Cubasis and AUM hosts.
2. No MIDI IAA selection from host:
Although this app appears in the IAA Audio track selection dropdown in Cubasis, it strangely does not appear in the IAA MIDI instrument track selection dropdown in Cubasis.
3. Fixed velocity on-screen keyboard:
Although this app has a programmable velocity modulation parameter, there is no way to hear the result of this, because the on-screen keyboard only plays fixed velocity notes. The only way this can be achieved is by using an external MIDI velocity keyboard (which is not always available) or by programming it into the arpeggiator/sequencer, which is not the same as a musician playing the synth.
4. No tempo synchronisation with other apps:
Although this app has a great arpeggiator, there is no way to synchronise its tempo with other hosts or DAWs (eg. Cubasis) though IAA, MIDI clock or Ableton Link.
5. No AU implementation:
Does not appear in the AU lists of any host.
I really wish Korg would include these missing items in the next released version of the app, as it is more difficult to include this amazing app into a musician's workflow on IOS, without them. It really is unacceptable in an app at this high price and from such a top manufacturer. This sadly applies to most of the other Korg apps.

So no full features in gadget. That’s ridiculous. In gadget it’s listed as one of the synths to use/buy. But when I bought it I discovered Its not the full job. Waste of money. Very annoyed. Don’t buy.

I have just bought this. Dissapointed to find that the menus don't seem to fit onto the iPod Touch 6th Gen screen. There is a bottom menu item, or several, description unknown, that are below the bottom of the visible screen. I hope this can be considered in a later update.

This app ‘talks’ to nothing. You can’t record it into cubasis for example. Brilliant sounds but if you can’t connect via midi or internal iPad DAWs what’s the point ? Come on Korg get this fixed,

Version 1.0.3
This is an amazing synth. One of the best in my ios collection. However the midi is temperamental to say the least. Adjusting the tempo is equally painful. The app also fails to show up in the midi instrument list of Audiobus 3 as other apps do. In fact, it happens to all my Korg apps. Sort this out and I will give it 5 stars.

Excellent Implementation.I was thinking of getting the hardware version from Korg, but opted for upgrading my IPad to a Pro 12.9
With the Korg mini plug adaptor to connect full size keyboard this becomes awesome.Really like the integration of sequencer, effects and Kaoss pad into one,.This is a good case study of Skeuomorphism.

Version 1.0.2
This is great. With a camera adaptor lead I can play this amazing synth on my iPhone via a USB keyboard in my live set! The sounds are brilliant. The only disappointment for me is that it isn't so good when used within gadget. The little loops and patches don't play the same in gadget, so I hope that gets addressed at some point.

Well done, Kong, on another winning synth app. My only query is where's the scale key function in the app proper? It's available within Gadget - all sorts of lovely scales to choose from. It would just be nice to have the same capabilities in the actual app.

Version 1.0.1
Not quite so brilliant as Ableton live or Bitwig or Pro Tools or FLStudio or...it's not even as good as. I can't be bothered anymore. Firejan82...please please please stop giving every "Swear" music app 5*. The reason I mention PC/Mac is because these are what we should b heading for. This Korg is a million miles from Heavyocity out today "Punish". Or Sugarbytes (top apps) Obscurium and loads more.
CB2 should MAYBE get 5*s. And that does everything a non PC/Mac DAW should do...except be as good as the PC/Mac programs.

Amazing

Version 1.0.1
This has to be the best synth I've ever used. Works well in Gadget and although CPU hungry it's worth it for the rich organic sound it produces. Everything is nicely laid out and it's a joy to program. Great job Korg!!

You'll get 5 when you sort the midi connect issues.

Love the sounds and would love to use it as my go-to on stage, but automatically cuts out sound every time I go back to it from other apps, and cannot isolate it midi settings, when playing on iPad screen. I'm sure these issues will be sorted soon... (crosses fingers)

Another glorious addition to iOS synth collections from Korg. These guys consistently set such high standards and this app does not disappoint.
Stunning, amazing, feature-packed, works alone or as multiple instances inside Gadget and sounds wonderful. Full MIDI cc list issued.
I love it :)

Version 1.0.1
Although I also have an IPad Air 2 (therefore I am safe). I wanted to underline that this is not available for the iPad 3 ("The New iPad") or iPad 4 (retina) even if they have iOS 9.3 installed.
Does this mean that iPad 3/4 Korg Gadget future support is to be abandoned, going forward?
This aside, although I only downloaded the app 2 days ago and haven't spent that much time with it, this looks like an excellent version of the Arp Odyssey. I certainly did not see it coming that's for sure!

Incredible!

Version 1.0.1
Korg are relentless with their support for iOS. This latest release is a AAA software synth. There are two features missing: AU and Link. But I'll forgive them that because they're spoiling us with their app releases and it works in Gadget. If only Roland and Yamaha supported iOS like Korg do.

Great synth, nearly brilliant

Version 1.0.0
Lovely sound and great interface, and works well in Gadget.
One star off for poor MIDI implementation and lack of Link, plus user presets created in the standalone app don't carry across to Lexington Gadget.
Hope these small issues get fixed and the app isn't abandoned, like the iPolysix. Otherwise a really good synth.

Version 1.0.0
Yes there are a few little hiccups between the two versions of the app, but all in all it's one of the best on iOS.
Would normally give about 4.5, but as some will give low scores for this most excellent synth, I'm giving it 5 because Korg have done good with this one and deserve the praise.
Just remember Korg. In future give us an email export for patches please.

Sound is Great, Midi is Poor (Again Korg)

Version 1.0.0
Lovely sounding, good integration with Gadget.
Once again though for a Korg iOS synth the midi implementation is very weak. No programme change via midi so all but useless if you want to use it live. If this is important to you I'd avoid it until they sort it (although given their track record with apps like Polysix better midi may never come).

Seems good so far BUT...

For some reason it's not showing up in gadget which is half the reason I got it in the first place :/

Version 1.0.0
I've just bought this as a Gadget and its performance is disappointing to say the least. As a stand-alone app it works as it describes in the app description. However, within Gadget (which is where I found out about it in the first place) it's a much reduced, laggy app with a horrible interface. There are no chaos pads and the arpeggiator is all but impossible to control. Gadget has needed an arp app for ages which is why I bought this, but it's almost unusable with Gadget. Very disappointing. Needs a re-considered UI. Bad.

If you're a fan of music apps this is one to purchase

Wow, amazing sounds, really intuitive and works well on its own or within gadget. Purchased the additional sound modules, all of the patches are great. Tried the app sequenced from modstep and this works great, no problem with the clock sync, everything just worked.
I can't believe how good these korg apps are and ARP ODYSSEi is right up there with the best.

Love it
