Canary Mail
This app is the best I’ve ever used for accessing all of my email accounts in one place, I have several different email accounts including a few imap ones which work seamlessly and all attachments open regardless of what format they are in.
Highly recommend this app and the AI reply help is very useful!

Lost potential
Had been looking for an alternate to the general larger companies email clients that provided great features for free but options for advanced users if they wanted to go Pro. We’re a small parish council and money is very limited hence looking for a feature rich client for free. Canary hit that magic spot… until their latest update which apparently “fixed a bug” in their Compose suggestions function. This is a feature as part of the Pro version now but one of the key uses is email suggestions when typing in the To or CC field. Before you could start by typing first few letters of a name and suggestions pop up and you could enter on the one you wanted. Now that is disabled so you have to manually type each email in full. OK for one, maybe two emails but anymore than that it’s just unworkable. This has been a basic function of many email client for 20-30 years. Unfortunately made it unusable for me and our Parish so now need to uninstall and find a more friendly client. What a shame.

Sadly giving up
The frustrations of using this app have finally outweighed what I hoped would be its advantages and I have cancelled my subscription. As others have reported, there are just too many bugs - moving, deleting, syncing, etc. The developers say these have been resolved but I don’t find it so. I spend far too much time trying to get basic functions to work. Sorry, but no more.

Zero support from these clowns, once they have your money. Canary is a resource hog, and a battery flattenener.
They seem to have lost focus on what people actually want, and instead, they are churning out useless new features that most people disable right away.

I was really keen to purchase Canary for support, but it appears to only work with Gmail or outlook accounts!
I reached out to them about 15 times asking for support as I couldn’t even get it to work properly with a Gmail account and they’ve completely ignored me !!!

Why have you changed the icon to this new terrible looking thing? The old one was cool and professional looking and this new thing of an icon is horrible. Also, copilots rewrite feature hasn’t been that impressive, it’s hardly changed my emails.

Paid for the full app then suddenly has issues managing my inbox. When deleting emails they keep coming back and error messages about multiple connections or something keep happening. Doesn’t happen with any other email clients so unusable for me unfortunately.

Promising Concept but with Persistent Issues. Need Signature Photo Resize!!
Good concept, but a long way to go!
I liked this app that I purchased its lifetime plan. However, I found numerous broken functions, which I have outlined below.
Feature Request:
The ability to implement a signature by photo feature with an option to resize the image is crucial. Currently, when adding an image-based signature, users have to manually resize it using external photo editing software to fit desired dimensions. Unlike Outlook on Mac/PC, there’s no in-app option to resize the image signature accurately by specific centimetre measurements. Adding this functionality would make signature management far more seamless.
Bugs That Need Fixing:
1. Email Photo Bug: There’s an odd bug where the app randomly uses a profile photo from unrelated junk mail or other email accounts over a newly received email.
2. Copilot Input Bug: Another notable issue is with the Copilot feature when composing a reply. If manual input is added alongside the AI-generated response, the app fails to incorporate this input into the final draft. This was working fine previously, so it seems to be a bug introduced in the latest update.

I liked the concert the extra features, but is unusable as a mail client. It randomly stops retrieving mail and doesn’t tell you. If you check the settings every is connected reset but no new mail. I reset the Apple mail up and had a flood of messages. Will be uninstalling. This as I’m tired of this inconsistency

Potential but has significant issues
I want to love Canary. iOS mail is dull, poorly featured and ripe for disruption. When I first discovered Canary I was excited. By my excitement faded over the two months I used the app.
The biggest, frankly irredeemable issue is that, at least for me, the app will only send emails when in the foreground. If you switch applications, your email will be stuck in your outbox until you next use the app. This is, frankly, absurd. Why it can’t complete the send task in the background is beyond me.
Next, inbound emails arrive more slowly in Canary than in iOS. No Idea why, but this is consistently true.
Finally, the search functionality is poor. I cannot search specifically by sender / date / subject.
For the reason, I’ve deleted the app today. I’d give it another try, but big improvements are needed here.

It’s gone to trash
This once great email app is plagued with bugs on all platforms.
Today Canary MacOS is constantly crashing and then I replied to a client email and the email was sent to me, not the client.
I tried again and ensure it was going to the client, client name showing in the To field, press send and it arrived in my inbox.
Switch to Spark, do the same process and the email goes to the client.
I’ll never give Canary another go, it’s too far gone now to be fixed. Too many bugs.

Concerned by recent update requesting VPN should be disabled.
Highly suspicious and definitely not recommended, it leads one to suspect nefarious activity within the app. Note, I refuse to compromise my personal security in favour of an app “feature”, assuming that’s what it is.

Email writing assistant
Copilot doesn’t work efficiently. It’s a hit and miss can’t fix it. The whole purpose I purchased app is for AI to proof read my emails but most of the times the app is not responding very frustrating.

Company sends spam to your email address
I have just received a marketing email from Canary, sent to the email address used to log in to my mail server. It has not been provided to them for any other purpose, and I have not opted in to marketing, as required by GDPR.
This is not a trustworthy company. Do not give them any personal data, and do not use their software.

Could be brilliant
Been using canary for a while but some features recent updates have introduced some weird bugs that just make the app so frustrating to use. I switched to canary from my usual proprietary apple mail app on my iPhone and I can’t stand googles attempt at a mail app so this was a nice clean interface with the addition of the privacy options which are great. Sadly though, deleting and moving emails is really buggy and the app insists on being open while it takes upwards of 2-3 seconds to delete an email, and then insists it can’t delete them because of a VPN or network error. The synchronisation with mailboxes is also a bit janky.
No other issues with features but it’s just become frustrating to use - what I personally want and need from email apps is just a fast lightweight interface, that works, with robust privacy functions. Canary has come so close but it’s not quite there yet.
No personal criticism of the developers as I’m sure creating this kind of app is not easy and is fraught with complications so hats off to you. Hope this feedback helps to make improvements where necessary.

Problems with inbox
Been having problems with emails going missing.
Where has the archive feature gone? Have I lost the emails in there? Generally not happy with this app at the moment.

App is alright, support is abysmal and led me to leave.
The app does what it does on the tin. It constantly tries to push the AI stuff in your face but I understand that they have to cater for all users!
As other reviews have mentioned throughout the years, where it falls short by a mile is their support team. I have had the displeasure of having to deal with them and they are slow and unhelpful. Hands up one of the worst support teams I’ve had to deal with. On average, I was getting replies from them every 6 days (checking spam daily just in case) and in the end I gave up and moved to a different email client. I don’t mind paying for a subscription, as long as it’s commensurate with the quality of the service. Based on the support I’ve received from Canary, this is not the case and the support team cost them the subscription of my team.

Why can't I on my iPad mini, select a colour for the text and font and then make it my default? Also, when you look in the sent folder, the text looks black even if set to blue? This is a paid app there should be a way of making our preference for coloured text me font our default, it's a pain in the bum having to do it for every email we write!

One of the best...with one caveat
Updated Mar 24: I still really like canary and it’s what I use day to day. Overall it’s excellent, really nicely designed and has just enough features without feeling bloated. A really well thought out application.
There are a few things keeping it from the top stat though. Firstly the calendar integration is poor. I can see events but not interact. For example if I’m invited it’ll create a duplicate event whereas both the inbuilt calendar and outlook allow direct inviting.
And the notifications seem a little patchy. I keep getting duplicates and not always for new emails.
It has previously worked fine so I’m confident it’ll get resolved.

Favourite email app, now with Todoist integration
I’ve tried many different email apps over the years, but Canary mail is the one I feel most at home with. UI is similar to Apple mail, but functionality is miles ahead, and now they’ve added integrations with Asana and Todoist, it’s better than ever. I use Todoist a lot, and being able to add emails as tasks directly from the app, rather than emailing them to a project, improves my productivity.

No calendar integration
I have been checking the top email apps available and come across this one, in summary it has potential.
The big drawback is the lack os email integration, but they mentioned they are working on it.
For now is a good email client.
My personal opinion is that they have put too much effort on the trending AI integration but didn’t pay attention to the basic like Calendar and integration to for example preview attachments.
Will review in few months.

Image Scrubber, Privacy Breaker
This email app automatically converts attached images to traceable links and some emails sent with this app won’t include any emails actually. Also it breaks the recipient’s privacy as it automatically includes a traceable image. No options to turn them off, it’s just like a c0mmunism software maker.

This is my go to app for all of my mail. It is a great organiser and has so many more functions that are first class. I can organise my day and carry out all my tasks with just this one app.

Great App - One annoying Bug.
App is great, blows the stock email app out the water and all other competitors I have tried. It’s fluid, clear, and just works. The built in features also make it super customisable and easy to use.
That being said, I have one horrible bug that keeps cropping up and what pushed me the write this review. Once everyday or so it refuses to load email. Can see who it’s from and the subject line but any contents will not load whatever you try. This obviously ruins a perfect app. This needs addressing and once it has been I will update this review to reflect that.

Great concept poor execution
Seems like a great app, good features, I nearly bought subscription glad I waited, so so unreliable. I can’t remember when I last used an app that was so unstable.

Unfinished and unusable
The biggest showstopper is that you can’t set a “from name header” if you use an alias. You’ll be stuck with your full email address as the from name. Support seem to consider this a feature request rather than missing core functionality.
Other than that, while it has a clean, polished, and very customisable UI, it just feels a bit glitchy — messages I archived yesterday briefly flashing up in my inbox today; moving the cursor around a message on a touch screen always selecting text rather than just repositioning the cursor; messages sometimes pinning themselves for no reason.
I want to like it, because the AI implementation is the best I’ve seen in a mail client, and it’s AI did help me quickly clean out my mailboxes and get to zero inbox for the first time in forever.
But it feels like it’s trying to run before it can walk, and not being able to set a from name is a blocker. Sorry, Canary, you only get one chance to make a first impression 🤷🏻♀️

Hi, All I really appreciate the Canary email AI quick reply software which is a very professional speciality the AI quick reader for emails my inbox has never been so good and much easier to understand on a day-to-day. love the read receipts functions that let me see when clients ares reading their emails...as that gives me insight to their urgency and responsiveness. Also favoriting my clients helps me bring focus to them...so I don't miss replies. Pinning and snoozing also work well to manage time sensitive emails...and both work flawlessly.

Send Later Only Works for 30 days!?
A fairly good email app, but be warned the “Send Later” feature only works for 30 days into the future. This isn’t mentioned anywhere and cost £9.99 to upgrade from version 2.0… it’s also £9.99 per device (iOS and MacOS are separate upgrades!). I got caught out. Very expensive for a feature that’s so limited.

Fashion over function
What looked to be a promising set of apps ended up jumping on the AI bandwagon. I still have a subscription but don’t even use it. Emclient’s free beta is more reliable. Such a shame they went the AI route instead making a reliable privacy focused client. Updates never fix anything, they just try to get you to use AI. An annoying training system gets switched on for all your device, and you have to complete it on each device. Customer support are little help with a “works okay on my side” attitude. Could have been good.

I’m not posting my ticket number; I’ve wasted too much time with customer support. Here are some other annoying things about the app though:
No option to select dark mode - only auto
Aliases appear as “me” so you can’t see which alias it was sent too.
Badge count sometimes displays the number of unread emails when there are no new emails.

Love Canary……but
Hi guys. The app has been fantastic, right up until a few weeks ago. I’m consistently being signed out of Google, and when I reconnect, I’m being booted out again a few hours later. This is obviously really frustrating. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app several times but it makes no difference. I’ve been through all the settings and reviewed them, but again it makes no difference. Please can this be fixed?

For the most part good
But I have recently encountered two issues:
Firstly when responding to an email in poor reception, the email I sent vanished, it wasn’t in sent mail or drafts. After a few attempts I gave up, only for all three attempts to suddenly appear again and send later 2 hours after being back in good reception.
The 2nd issue relates to formatting, as I use canary for business often emails are sent highlighting various issues or questions, the way I typically receive responses is for the other party to reply to the email by responding to each point in red text. Unfortunately canary strips the red text formatting making the responses difficult to find.

Pay monthly for an email client?
Whilst this claims to be free, you’re forced into a 30 day trial upon initial setup so you won’t know if you can get by without ‘pro’ for 30 days. Looking at the pro features, you’re gonna want most of them and the ‘pro’ is a subscription feature meaning you’ll be paying every month or annually for EMAIL. There is no one-off option. Because of that I won’t be testing any further, which is a shame.

Looks excellent
I have only just found Canary having never quite found the email client that matches my requirement. First impressions are excellent and I have signed up to a Pro subscription on that basis. Clean layout, good functionality and personalisation options and intuitive feel. I may have missed something but the only thing lacking, in my view, is an Undo popup (perhaps for 10 seconds or a user selected time) for Swipe and Send functions. Hence only four stars at this stage. PS It would also be helpful to have a Feedback and Feature Request option within the app.

Simple
I like this App due its simplicity. Everything seems to be logically organised and I find it easier to print of emails.
Setting up the emails is easy. There are so many apps where this is always a problem.
Please keep up the good work as I would certainly pay for a new version when issued.

My search for the perfect email client continues
I am evaluating Canary at the moment and currently it is a close run thing between this, Outlook and Apple’s own Mail however all three miss certain core functionality that is present in all desktop mail clients. I would note that pretty much my entire working day is spent in the desktop version of Outlook. My entire job is pretty much reading and responding to emails with the odd phone call and reading the odd PDF. I am therefore looking for a client that has as much functionality as the desktop version of Outlook or any of the clones. Whilst each of the three have early everything between them, they each lack something that makes them clunky and cumbersome compared to their desktop brethren. In the case of Canary it ticks the box of having collapsible folder trees, something that is also in Mail but missing in Outlook however the iPadOS version lacks the ability to create new folders. Also, unlike Outlook it is not possible to have the folder tree, contents of folder and then selected email all showing in a three column display - a failing it shares with Mail. Finally, Outlook has things like the ability to add a flag or add an attachment there as a small button within the UI and this would make it much more useable. I may still purchase a license as it about the nicest iPadOS email client going that I have tested but with the power available in iPads these days I just can’t understand why they are all pretty basic compared to the full fat versions.

Close, but not enough
I really wanted to like Canary mail, and I even purchased the pro version of the app. Unfortunately, it’s just too buggy. I often have emails that don’t display unless I force close the app and I encounter sync issues whenever I organise my emails on a different client. Will come back to it in a few months to see if it’s any better because it definitely has potential.

Very easy to set up
Really easy to set up with having 3 email accounts and having multiple accounts can get overwhelming so the fact all my accounts can be in one place safely in one encrypted app gives me extra time to easy access all accounts in one!

Great for GPG but limited editor
I choose this app because it seems to be the only one on the market that integrates seamlessly with PGP.
My email hosting provider encrypts my emails, so I need an email client capable of managing this encryption. This is not too difficult on a desktop where there is greater scope for integrating plugins with standard email clients. But, until I found Canary, there was no simple means of receiving and sending emails on my devices.
Generally, the app works well and does the type of things you would expect. The reason for only giving 3 stars is the very basic text editor. Bold, underline and italics are the only formatting available for emails. This is really disappointing from a modern email app.

Issues
I want this to be my email client, but I keep being pushed away by issues. Often I find it quite ‘clunky’ and slow to load emails. Now I’m facing issues with notifications not working at all for my emails making it borderline useless as an email app.
For paying £20 I feel like this should be further along now. It’s been years and development is far too slow.

Frustrating
Good app generally but I have an issue when not connected to WiFi . It says offline and I press the connection button but it won’t connect despite having mobile data allowed
I have to go to another email app spark to get emails and that gets them no problems.

Best email client you will ever find.
I have used all email clients available, from Mail to Polymail, Edison Mail, Spark, Postbox, Newton, Superhuman, Airmail and of course Outlook.
For me the function of “read” receipt is crucial and is something that Canary has. On top of that the UI is superb and easy to use. Search function is also very good. You also don’t have to worry about font size etc, everything is taken care of for you.
The only disadvantage is that the synch of receiving emails and loading is sloooooow. You may have to wait 2-3min to get the email appeared. Edison Mail is the fastest on this category. If they fix this issue, then Canary simply doesn’t have competition. For the time being those two are overall the best with Canary close first.

My default email app on iOS devices
I had been looking for an all in one email client that made managing multiple accounts easy. After trying multiple other products which made tall claims, I think I have found one that meets my requirements. I have purchased your full subscription.
The ease of use is phenomenal, integration is done well of multiple accounts, with additional options/actions apart from reply. I like the snooze function and also calendar integration into the app. So no more switching between apps.
Feedback:
Allow for rules set in parent mailboxes to be applied in Canary mail. As of now no option to set rules in Canarymail which is a bit tedious.
Allow full integration of calendar to respective parent calendar. As of now, if I make any changes or create new calendar entries, I can only see them in the Canary App, I don’t see the changes in the relative parent calendar app, say Google Calender or iCloud calender.
Some emails deleted still show back in the unread queue or even in the parent email account, even though I have deleted the emails.
I would like to see the above implemented into your app, it would make my life easier.

Great Mail app
Such a good find on the App Store. Once set up the interface is intuitive, especially when viewing multiple email accounts at the same time by having each account colour coded.
It’s great to see that there is no subscription model just a one-off payment until version 3 becomes version 4. I guess I’ll approach that hurdle when it gets there.
Only a few bits I’ve come across which was a pain, the main being the exchange account set-up, if it doesn’t detect the servers auto config address you have to type the entire URL, right down to the configuration file. This guidance was hidden in their FAQ, just a hint within the setup page would have saved some time scratching my head.
The only other issue I have is that you can’t embed images into an email signature, unless the image is remotely hosted else where. Be great to have a few more options for signatures.
Moving forward it would be good to enhance the email cleaner a bit further and have the ability to select all messages from one sender and mass delete them. The auto select feature within this app is good but not perfect.
Overall a huge improvement to the default Mail app and other alternatives out there. Looking forward to future updates!

Starting to get issues

A few of my previous issues have actually been resolved by the devs. Thats great to see. I decided to try and give Canary another go, a chance for them to impress me this time round.
Unfortunately I found it so difficult to construct an email that was beyond just writing a few words. When it comes to dealing with attachments (on the desktop app or on iOS), or even worse, Multiple attachments, or importing photos for example, this client is a complete nightmare. It took me 10 minutes to craft the email which I then re-created using the apple standard mail app and completed it in less than 5 minutes because the interface is just so much nicer to work with.
Canary Mail really is a struggle to use. To the point that I’m taking my 2 star review down to a 1. I honestly don’t think anyone who works at the developing company actually uses their own app, or has never created an email that needs more than just a few typed words before.
PRE-2021 Review
Only been using this app for a few months. Complete rip off having to license it on my iOS and macOS devices.
Recently the loading of emails fails and I have to click another email then back again for it to eventually load.
I also find so often that clicking links in emails don’t load from the iOS client but if I copy the link and paste it in a real browser, it works perfectly fine so the issue is with this mail app.
It is very slow at updating you inbox. Often it still claims to have unread emails with a number showing on the app icon, but I just cleared them all and to get rid of it have have to yet again open the app and let it catch up.
All in all. It’s a mail client which doesn’t really offer anything special and doesn’t really perform very well.

Great App
I have been looking for an alternative email app for my iMac and iPad/iPhone for some time as I found Apple Mail lacking in features.
I have tried most of the apps in the App Store but they did not have the combination of features I require (tracking, reminders, snoozing etc) and it appears to have a good privacy policy as well.
Whilst you have to pay for separate versions of the app for MacOS and IOS, in time this works out more cost effective than the subscription model that most developers are moving over to.
For me, the only addition I would like to see in the future is “Smart Folders”.

Mostly great, needs some stability tweaks
I mostly love Canary (indeed I’ve bought the Mac and iOS apps for my business and the additional license for my personal Apple account). There are some unusual Face ID glitches if I don’t fully quit the app from time to time (particularly on iOS14, but give that time.) and I can’t wait for it to be a default mail app either (just please allow discounted upgrade to 4.0 if it’s under a year from 3.0 release otherwise it gets expensive)
However the thing I really like is it’s simple to use GPG functionality. I prefer to sign my mail (occasionally encrypting it) and this is so far one of the few iOS clients I’ve found that does this reliable well. Thanks Canary, and please keep up the good work.

Could be amazing
At first I was really pleased to have found this app as it seemed to offer everything I wanted in a mobile email client. Adoption of encryption in email has lagged behind that on the web for too long. The app seems well thought out and the UI has a certain polish to it. After using it for a while though I noticed several glitches though. When composing a new message the recipient address would often disappear when selecting the suggested match. When viewing medium to long messages, the view doesn't allow you to scroll to the bottom to read everything. Sometimes a restart would help persuade it to measure the scroll length correctly, sometimes not. There are several functional glitches and support is friendly but doesn't seem too fussed about fixing them. A pity, as with a little more work this could be a fantastic app.

Perfect!
I’ve tried out many email clients over time. I’ve been looking for one which embraces both iOS and macOS platforms in a seamless way. Canary is it!
Everybody has their own way of working, and each of our brains are wired in different ways. So, what seems logical to one individual is not necessarily so to another, but I think Canary have got it cracked, and I take my hat off to them.
I’m still in the trial mode, but I’ve used it robustly for the last couple of weeks, and it’s still not disappointed.

priority is privacy so prove it
I tested the app on ios and macos, seems very interesting features etc, although the price to pay for every single device yet at this stage seems way to high... I found the ios version to be quite slow especially when launching the ap/opening a message from a notifications etc (all pretty fast on my phone). The notifications are way slower than default mail app or other ones.
But mainly since your main selling point is privacy, security, there should be clear detailed evidence of that... is canary open source? was it peer reviewed and audited? unbiased external articles/testing proving so? there should be a clear comparison table of functionalities vs other clients such as thunderbird, ios mail etc. Till then I can't use and pay for the service. If you have any such documentation thanks for forwarding it. Regards

Cool app with a more than fair business model
I love this app, it's got a slick design, it works flawlessly, it handles multiple account types without problems and the one time fee is refreshing in the days of Everything As A Subscription.
Some of the controls aren't the most intuitive (you have to select "Edit" in order to mark multiple emails as read) but once you get used to it then it's very simple to use.
Well worth 5 stars!

Please Fix This Bug!
First, I would like to congratulate you and your team on producing such fine product. I love how simple and clean this client is. It's lovely to look at and functions, for the most part, very well.
I would love to support you, by paying you for your work. However, I have a problem that is niggling me. I have many emails in my inbox (all read), yet only a certain amount of them is shown. When checking me Inbox on my PC, all 500+ emails are showing up.
This error has been mentioned by someone else, in another review, by the way.
I would find it hard to part with £20, if this issue isn't resolved by the end of my trial (which started today).
On a daily basis, I would typically only need to see my most recent emails. However, I would hate to be away from home and find that I need access to an older email, only to find that it is inaccessible because of a bug with your software.
Please reply to my review when you've fixed it, so I can test it out and then pay for a license. :)

Forget Spark, Airmail and the Rest
Ok. If you’re a serial email app hopper (like me) you need to read this. I’ve spent various months of my time on Spark, Airmail, Newton, Outlook, Edison, Gmail and lately - Superhuman. And the new Canary BY FAR ticks all the boxes for me. It has a great Mac App, lovely design, delightful animations and elements - and crucially for me, Read Receipt Notifications. Seriously. This is the best of the bunch and I’m really happy to pay for this experience as we all need to support independent devs like the Canary Team to keep wonderful apps like these going. Bravo, Guys!

Easily the best iOS email app for iOS
The recent refresh of Canary for iOS is amazing. It was already among the best apps for power users concerned about efficiency and privacy, but now it easily tops the list. Built-in encryption and the option to not have your private data uploaded to some unknown third party's servers make this the only app I'll trust aside from Apple's own mail app (which is awful to use).
Enhancements I'd love to see are a button to load images in the current message, as well as the ability to whitelist senders for remote image loading from the message viewer.

So near and yet so far
I ALMOST purchased the PREMIUM version towards the end of the free trail as the app is ALMOST there. I love the fact it picks up accounts on multiple devices and the pinning feature to remind me of emails to sort BUT I subscribe to a number of email newsletters and they are ALWAYS ALL truncated with no option to see the whole text. The ‘help’ files tell me there’s a setting, but as these were written 9 months ago they are obviously horribly out of date and that option no longer seems to be available. Long story short is I HAVEN’T found my ideal email client after all and the hunt is back on and I won’t be making that in-app purchase for the premium level!

Was hoping this would be the new Newton...
On first setting up the application everything seemed great. Clear, clean, well designed.
Sadly the cracks begin to appear when you start to use the app.
Email size limits don't fall in line with the email provider. Sending a document I had previously sent via another third party email client wasn't possible with canary. Due to file size limitations (?). I emailed canary to no avail. No response. So no idea if it's a bug or a setting I've missed etc.
When setting a password to enter the app, when reopened canary reverts back to having no password in the settings and not requiring a password to enter.
When sending emails if you select the recipient erroneously and wish to change it you can't. There's no way to delete them and add another.
I would have wrote another email to raise these issues but having no response from my previous email I'd prefer to leave a review of my experience with the application.
Sadly what could be a good email client turns out to be less than it could be.

Was great - charging for new features is bad.
Bought this, yes I bought this over a year ago for £9.99. Great app, end to end encryption, all my emails in one place. Now with this new update they want to charge another £9.99.
This is bad decision by Canary, as you don’t care about your existing customers who already bought this.
Apart from this bad decision the app is great if you want your emails to be safe and encrypted.
You just need to remember those customers who already funded your bank balance.

Best IOS email I found
Checked out a number of paid/unpaid clients. Canary
- has best security (you can prevent it storing your mail details/password on a third party server unlike spark and almost all the others)
- most have basically the same features (snooze, spam etc). This has things most don’t have (read tracking) and has a Kanban style UI making the rest much more usable
- has serious PGP security if you want it and the defaults even make it easy to use
- has a nice looking UI

Nope... Not worth it.
My setup.
- iPhone XS
- 1 Gmail account registered in app.
Firstly the good things.
- dark mode on email looks quite nice.
- read reciepts work well most of the time.
- the gestures based navigation is really nice!
- IF emails come in they load up quite fast.
The bad things.
- the client REGULARLY crashes, by which I mean when entering the app it accepts NO user input, no taps no scrolling no nothing. (Force restart the app). Currently counting 1 out of 7 attempts to use app.
- many MANY times the app icon will have notification stating - for example - 4 emails are waiting to be read. Upon entering the app..... Nope nothing .... Those emails have failed to fetch yet the app unread icon states the contrary. (Force restart the app)
- email thread UI is horrendously implemented. Instead of the standard way messages stacked vertically in date order. Instead in this app you have to first go into a thread and swipe left to go see the historical messages of that thread. An ENORMOUS blunder. Basically over designed for the sake of it with out providing benefit. ( You can't force restart this !)
- iconography in app is not as good as competition. Certain things look worse then there free apps. Unfortunately when you pay for apps you expect alot more.
I will stop using this app as my daily because of the aforementioned reliability and return back to Edison. If I need to send the occasional read reciept email I will begrudgingly use this one.. man I miss Newton !!!!!!
Overall I feel like I totally wasted £10 on this because I'm going back to a free app!!!
I've given it 2 stars because at least the read reciept works..

Still in beta
Beautiful app but so many things are broken it feels like it’s still in beta; £9.99 is expensive for a beta app. I feel that the developers have a great idea here, but the planning of the app seems poor which is possibly the result of naivety.
Emails don’t display correctly. What good is an email app if you can’t correctly view the email? It’s understandable if the app was still in beta.
Read receipts are hit and miss. I get read receipts from Spark when sending to a specific person, but none through Canary when sending to the same address.
The UI is the best of every email app. Unfortunately there are so many little things that are misaligned and in the wrong place which ruin it. The ‘beautiful images are of poor quality and don’t look right on a retina screen. The font is not so easy on the eyes opposed to the stock iOS font.
The app is on the right track to become the best email app for standard consumers but has a long way to go. I feel the developers need to speed up their work in order to achieve this though however.
This is an honest opinion, I love the app and use it everyday, but until the issues are resolved and the app looks tidier my rating will not change.

Crashing
I bought this app for the desktop and iPhone. It is impossible to read emails on the iPhone in dark mode. As far as the desktop version is concerned, when one clicks on the icon it is not registered as being open and it is impossible to get into preferences because the computer does not register it as being open. As far as I’m concerned, this application is very buggy. I spent £30 on it, £20 for the desktop and £10 for the iPhone version and I’m extremely disappointed given that is such an expensive product.

Good app, let down by support
On the whole I like this app. Initially I couldn’t see my folders, support spoke to me like I was clueless telling me to do exactly what I told them I’d done and hadn’t worked. Turned out the problem was I need to switch off unified view.
The app also insists on in-app vibration every time you receive a new message and offers no way to disable this notification. If I’m sitting in a meeting quickly checking email I don’t want my phone vibrating continuously for incoming emails. This functionality is easy to configure for the iPhone email app.
This is a beautifully crafted app that is currently falling down on some simple functionality and mediocre support. If these items were addressed it would comfortably be five stars.

Had enough of it abusing notifications with tips etc
Response to developer: Using notifications to show off features is invasive and unwanted. Notifications should literally be just for notifications of new emails.
It’s actually not that different from sending people the same via email and I would argue that having your hard opt-in is a violation of the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation 2003 (which requires soft opt-in for all electronic communications) not to mention the upcoming GDPR.
I would recommend having a guided tour instead that people can either view or skip.

Inbox Zero Dark Five Stars!!
I bought this email app not for its advanced encryption abilities, or any of its super amazing featureset - I just wanted a ruddy dark mode for my emails!! In the latest update they have enabled the actual email viewer with a dark mode as well so I'm basically INCREDIBLY happy right now. This is one canary I hope never dies. (Well, I don't have anything against the rest of them... You know what I mean)

Disappointing
That kind of sums up the experience so far.
It all sounded great in the sales pitch but the reality is an unreliable product that’s buggy with poor support. There are some pretty basic issues with the version I’m using. For example, sending an email often fails. One has to force close the app and reopen it before the email will send.
Email sync between two devices is a bit flakey. Moving messages to folders in gmail is flakey. Deleting emails is unreliable too. These are pretty basic functions that you just expect to work when purchasing an email client.
For a £10 purchase price I do expect better support from the developers.
I have tried to get a refund but cant so I guess I’m stuck with it. I’ve spent the money so expect something in return. Hopefully the stability and functionality issues will be resolved in future versions.
