I enjoyed this assessment compared to the normal psychometric tests. It was easy to follow and the task where very engaging and fun. I did come close to completing the last task but it defeated me in the end, but overall it was a very good experience.

Final task of attempting to stop a spinning bar on a highlighted number to open a lock - 4 stages of 5 numbers each - complete 3 stages then keep making a mistake on the final stage to be sent all the way back to the beginning to complete exactly the same tasks over and over again is mundane, annoying and frustrating! I applied for a CSA role on a Railway station - not to play on a computer screen all day!

Utter trash.

Section 1 was explained TERRIBLY. I was instructed to solve number sequences and wasted almost all of my time before I understood that it was just some dumb overlapping pattern and not a sequence at all.

Section 2 gave me a headache and made me feel physically sick to read. They wouldn’t display the whole text at once and instead had me flicking up and down with a janky animation. I had to stop and in the end I just let the timer run down. I still have a headache.

I hated this assessment. It’s not “gamification”, it’s just a dumb skin with a frustrating UI on top of badly worded questions. If they’re charging recruiters for this crap, then wow, what a grift.

I do find it rather odd that this is the case, it feels exploitative, people are looking for jobs in the time of COVID and some people like myself are desperate for job opportunities. Why? Just why?

This app will be the death of me.

I can’t fathom why on earth this app is used to determine whether or not someone can do a job.

The balloon game is possibly the worst part of the entire thing. I’m sorry but in what universe is blowing a balloon up useful to anyone? Unless you’re applying to become a full time clown perhaps then it might give you some helpful tips.

Companies are going to lose out on some incredible staff because they don’t want to be subjected to 9 pointless levels.

I don’t understand why we’ve moved on from cv’s, normal interviews and scenario based tests to this.

If you see this app come up as part of the interview/recruitment process….run.

Skyrise City - Artic Shore - Job Assessment

I did enjoy doing the assessment but found it had a few teething problems as it kept kicking me off so I had to log back in and I hadn’t been anywhere which was annoying after a few times and then on the final stage when it kicked me off when I logged back in the screen looked different but it was still working as I had done this exact same assessment for a previous job interview I was applying for and when it did the same thing back then it was different because when I pressed the exit button it didn’t tell me I had completed the assessment so I am fuming now as if I had known what I know now I would of contacted Arctic Shore and done something about it!!! But I am pleased it work better this time and at least I know I have completed the full assessment now and Artic Shore can work on the bugs!

I would love to know if anyone has completed the last stage, the code breaker stage, and what numbers follow the 0,1,8,-,-? Both times I did the assessment I couldn’t get any further than that, I just needed two more and is it impossible??? Would love to find out!!!

Shockingly bad

Why do so many employers use this instead of regular tests?

In one of the levels, you must identify facial expressions out of a list. These images look like police e-fits from the early 2000s making it near impossible to accurately guess what emotion is being displayed.

One of the levels when unlocking a safe requires you to tap at obscene intervals. This is simply not an accurate measure of personality/ability considering you’d never have to do anything like this level in real life.

Stupid app, even more stupid employers who use this. The amount of talent that will be blanked over as a result of this is insane.

How companies use this is beyond me

The app itself is ok. Quite fun and gets your brain going but how employers use this information to see if you fit a role is a joke. Dream careers will be ruined because of a bunch of games. They decide from your results rather than a face to face interview which I believe is worth a lot more!

I thought the app looked very dated and to be fair an awful way to establish an applicants personality, drive, etc. I was offended with my personal report it was extremely inaccurate. ‘ Relative to the comparison group, your responses suggest that you tend to be slightly more willing to exert additional effort to accomplish a desired outcome in return for an intrinsic or extrinsic reward’. I actually work in Social Care where I’m sure you can imagine it’s a bonus and pay rise every week as incentives!!! I work hard everyday, making a difference and helping those that need it. I would avoid any company using this app as a reliable tool!

Great for testing cognition and speed but nothing else.

I had to complete the Arctic Shores assessment as part of the recruitment for a UK Fire & Rescue service.

Some of the games get you thinking, the cognition and speed types are great and definitely test how quick your brain processes information.

One of the tests relates to emotional recognition, the pictures are awful (like a bad police e-fit) and it’s very difficult to see any expression!

I got my personal report back after finishing the assessment, I don’t know what’s gone wrong but I scored very low at being able to work within a team. It basically said I was self-motivated and self-centred.

I still currently serve in the British Army as I have done for 12 years, I can 100% say I’m not self-centred and I work very well within a team. That’s what the military is all about!

I’m not holding my breathe to hear back from the Fire Service, I’m guessing this report will ruin my chances. I find it funny to think that this test can decided whether or not you’re suitable for a job. Being a solider I can honestly say a lot of my skills are interchangeable to the Fire Service but because I can’t tell if a naff picture is happy or sad I’ll probably be binned off the recruitment process.

These so called ‘games’ that this app has to offer have absolutely nothing to do with a career that you are pursuing.

Despite having previous experience and expertise in the career I was applying for, I failed my application due to the ridiculous games in this app. Companies should not use this app as a way of hiring individuals! It doesn’t matter about how intelligent your are or any relevant experience or qualifications you have in the past, if you fail this irrelevant app a company will not hire you.

Dumbest game in the universe

I did the EXACT same test only 3 weeks apart and got completely different (and opposite) results on both. Either I had an earth-shattering change in personality in less than a month (which I’m sure I did not) or this game is actually really not predictive of anything. I don’t understand why firms want to use these games to gage people’s behavior. Sometimes a game is just a game and you can’t use it to predict someone’s personality or what type of decisions they’ll make. People aren’t that shallow.

I realize developers of the game don’t actually care if its ‘accurate’ - they just want to convince firms that it is. I would strongly suggest to anyone applying anywhere that uses this game not to waste their time- not because they won’t get in, but because why would you want to work for a firm that’s so daft it buys into this type of thing?

Different but ultimately pointless

Different way of assessing people. Was more fun than usual, but must say this app isn’t fit for for recruiting at all.

Some of the tasks, such as the balloon one has no correlation whatsoever, so what are you actually measuring, pointless.

The final round is impossible, got to the last round and only needed 2 more numbers but it’s so fast it just becomes pure guesswork, so you’re not actually being measured on anything.

I feel like employers shouldn’t be using this to judge employees, and they will be missing out on many good applicants due to this poor measurement.

Why do companies decide to use this?

I have been fortunate enough to not have to deal with this app before this round of applications, how I wish that had of continued.

Others have said that there is no allowance for accessibility, I agree. What would happen if someone with a learning difficulty was forced to use this.

Or even if the persons brain was working absolutely perfectly but they could not move fast enough, imagine if Steven hawking had to deal with this!

There’s no real purpose as most of the scenarios can not be fairly represented in the app.

Take the balloons for example, in reality, the colour would change due to a change of size but the same material to be stretched over the volume, and a ballon doesn’t normally just catastrophically fail.

In my case, I am applying for engineering roles, why would I be required to open a safe with five different codes that are all controlled by a single button? Or why would I be required to be directing people whilst using a screen?

My advice to companies planning on using this app, DON’T.

There is a significant chance that you will lose out on good staff because they don’t want to deal with this app.

I know this last point to be true as a colleague of mine got annoyed by this app and threw their device across the room.

Very said you developed something like this. Companies who’s using this app so called “psychology test” should be ashamed . I must say as assessments go that this was very well enjoyable! It took a whole lot of concentration on my last assignment for the test I did. But I still enjoyed it as it felt like I was testing myself personally to see if I could persevere. I can only hope future assessments stay just like on this app.

Awful

This type of assessment is an awful way for companies to pick and choose who they would like to employ for a future role.

In no way does this reflect a persons personality nor skills which are highly respectable in a work place, all this seemed to do is to test how much you play video games and how good your reflexes are.

This way of processing gives a lot of people an unfair advantage who may perform better in an environment that isn’t virtual and one that they can showcase their skills and quick learning in an actual workplace environment.

I really enjoyed this assessment. It was a very interesting way to be assessed and a clever idea by the company. Some of the levels, such as the lock one were very challenging and impossible to complete but I enjoyed it a lot, it was interesting to analyse the patterns and try to click on time !

I fount the assessment really enjoyable and intriguing. It tested me but I felt like it was a healthy challenge. Hard to unlock the last gate on the fingerprint challenge. And if you get an error wrong it may be hard to regain your pace because it will keep saying error until you get back on track. However overall it was a really affective and unique assessment strategy.

Dreadful

I hated this assessment. It relies heavily on quick reflexes which to me seems to be a way of assessing gaming or sporting prowess rather than working ability. I hardly ever play games in my phone, I don’t send many texts or emails either, so I’m not that fluent in using it, this is a definite disadvantage. I don’t believe the company’s assertion that this makes no difference, it’s just not possible.

It’s very long and I found it hard to stay focused on it. I have no problems focusing on traditional tests, my Mensa test was very engaging, but I got bored of this very quickly, I had to keep reminding myself it was important.

I feel that this test is very focused on the younger more tech-obsessed section of society.

My results did not seem to reflect my personality at all and I worry that will cost me the job. I will admit that I was suffering with a significant long term injury to my right forefinger at the time, this made playing these games very painful, to the point I almost gave up a couple of times. It wasn’t clear that there would be games reliant on speed so I didn’t ask for allowances to be made.

I think this is an appalling way to assess potential employees.

I genuinely did enjoy this test! It was so clear and interesting to use and didn’t drag on.

I would LOVE to actually know if anyone is able to finish unlocking those locks!! I got to the very last one and it was just impossible I found but a brilliant challenge!

Some functional issues with the electrician vs mechanic test where the “too slow” screen really interferes with the ability to catch up with the next switch granted it is obviously meant to increase ALOT in difficulty I found it went up very quick at the end.

I would love to be able to see people’s results for this and cross examine etc. I’m sure is very interesting to use as a hiring process!

I found the challenges challenging yet fun and enjoyable. As a rule I'm not fan of this type of testing, I feel that nothing can replace engaging with someone face to face. This type of test would not take into consideration the persons personality or character. And of course the results of the test only reflects the person at the time.

I really enjoyed this as this is something completely different to what i have done before, i like how they also allow you to take a break through the assessment too if needed & how each task is explained well beforehand and if needed you can bring the instructions up again, great idea this is but I definitely think the last level with the safe should be slowed down just a tad as it was almost impossible to get that last door unlocked😅 good fun though

Seriously flawed

As someone with repetitive strain injury in my hands and wrists, I found using this app very stressful and difficult. Many of the tasks require you to tap as quickly as possible, which causes me pain. I discussed this with the company I’m applying to, and they offered to give me extra points. But there is no way for me to know whether the adjustment is accurate. What’s more, the app is supposed to measure aspects of my personality, but I know that in this instance, it will have been measuring the level of pain in my hands - and my willingness to out up with it - rather than my personality. For example I gave up quickly on one task that was clearly designed to measure self motivation and persistence – not because I’m not self-motivated or persistent, but because it’s too physically expensive for me to continue tapping if it’s not necessary.

Did this for a customer service role at axa. Had fun playing the games but just felt like an extremely strange way for shortlisting candidates especially the speed tests. After receiving my results I don’t feel like I will be shortlisted as according to my personality type it seems I wouldn’t be very well suited for the role. Time consuming

Spent a long time, it asks if you want a break but doesn't advise how long the next section is, very long especially the last part which seems impossible to get through so I can only think that's why the quit button is there! In reality, a person could very very good at games but in the real world not good at the actual job? I feel companies could be losing out on qualities a robotic game can not offer.

Awful

Being a little too old for this type of game I believe it only caters for those who have been playing games for a loooong while .... how agile you have to be to be able to catch those numbers during the vault game ?! it’s absolutely impossible if all my life I have instead of playing games I was working with my interpersonal skills which are indeed becoming obsolete.

Yes I’m sure it can work for some data but no one can measure the good old 1-2-1 chat....

sorry this game wasn’t for me at all.

Good fun to play it

This is great fun to play, although quite difficult on some levels towards the end as they can get faster and faster making it a near impossibility to get it right every single time.

This should be made as a proper public game too and not just for employers to use.

Brilliant assessment type

This game based assessment is a great way of understanding a candidate. It puts your mind to the test and is very good to understand. I have never done anything like this before.

I would love to do this again, even if I’m not looking for a job.

Great way to be assessed!

I’ve never felt more at home doing and assessment before, if you love games and find yourself nervous under the stress of an interview assessment then this app is the way forward. The instructions were clear and made the whole process enjoyable and a great way to test your skills.

Most fun job assessment I’ve had

I very much enjoyed this assessment! The tasks were sometimes challenging but it made me all the more determined to complete them. I wish more companies did assessments like this, as it had me hooked from the beginning.

A fun way of completing an assessment test. Will keep your candidates (especially the younger candidates) entertained and left with a positive feeling about your company. The test itself takes you through different levels where skills are tested on speed, memory, decision making skills and financial insights through playing different game levels.

Innovative Assessment

I really enjoyed going through this game based assessment instead of doing some other kind of psychometric or silly reasoning test which I never feel really reflects my true ability. This was so much less stressful and gave me some insights too! Hopefully more companies will adopt such an innovative approach to hiring in the future.
