Search Bug

Please please please fix the search bug in the download section, it’s driving me crazy having to reset the app… 1. Tap the download icon 2. Tap the search spyglass icon 3. Type search criteria (Minor bug 1. Typing not displayed) 4. Tap “search” Results displayed successfully but Search spyglass icon has now disappeared so another search cannot be done?!

Great app, but limited - you have to go back to the amp to set up the expression/volume pedal. Why can’t you do it from the app?

It was working perfectly the other day. Today I can’t use it, as it can’t find my amp. Nothing has changed, same amp, same phone, Bluetooth is on, but it’s decided not to work. Terribly unreliable, and has made me regret buying the Fender Mustang amp.

Don’t bother. App poorly executed.

Don’t bother with the app. Amp functional without app, but incredibly hard to setup fx on the small built in screen.

I have spent a good 5-6 hours trying to solve the “LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY PLEASE UPDATE TO LATEST AMP FIRMWARE” problem on this app.

The Windows firmware update utility only works after a gazillion attempts to update from Base Ver 1.0.38 to 1.0.39 using multiple cable combos and two laptops. The firmware version on the app is the latest which is 3.0.49. But the app still says PLEASE UPDATE FIRMWARE.

This great idea poorly executed has really tarnished a trusted brand name.

Buggy as hell

This app doesn’t not work.

I can’t even explain how much isn’t working as my thumbs will fall off.

Glitches 9/10 times you add a pedal, it then adds every one you clicked on as you try and get the tone you want.

Then you save it, then it’s gone.

Every slot I have cleared has 4 random pedals that don’t actually work- sound is just pre amp.

Please please fix this.

I’ve had the amp a week. It has so much potential but yet so far.

Bluetooth now poor

The app worked fine until the upgrade. Bluetooth now keeps dropping off and does not recognise amp. A real pain! The app is no use whatsoever. I cannot download sounds to my amp any more and have to manually scroll through amp settings. This app functionality was the reason I purchased the amp. Please fix or roll back previous version, which was a 5 star app. No amount of pairing/unpairing, reboot, etc fixes the faulty Bluetooth coding in the app.

Problem with pedal display on app

The pedals on certain presets that i have downloaded look like a mess with all the pedals on the app showing up, this only occured when i opened the app a day after messing about on it for the first time. Really good app apart from this just annoying when i want to use certain presets.

Amp sounds great. Let down by rubbish Bluetooth and app

Such I shame. I’ve had amp for 2 years and finally had enough of the rubbish Bluetooth connection between the app. I just want to turn the amp on and connect it to my phone, but no, you have to mess about to get it to connect. And when it does, it shows the wrong info Ramon the screen half the time. Fender support keeps saying reset it, which doesn’t cure problem.

Great app but..

This is a great app and it makes setting up your tones a doddle with a smartphone or tablet. There needs to be the option of copy and pasting text when creating your presets for uploading. I have tried to do this and it’s not possible. I found this out by typing out a long description of one of my tones, spell checking it and making sure there were no mistakes only to get to the end and it not posting even though I’ve tapped the post button and then losing all my text. Rather annoying when all I want to do is upload some tones with a good description.

I feel they could do the community side of things better so it would create interaction between users and I have taken matters in to my own hands by creating a Facebook group for this purpose, whilst stating that it is not affiliated with Fender. Please make these improvements for the extra star 😉

Good App & Amp but Bluetooth has stopped working

Really good amp and the app worked great until recently. App now won’t connect via Bluetooth to my amp it says I need to update my amp which I have done numerous times. When I check what software version my amp is (3.0.84) it says it’s on a higher version then what the app is telling me to update to (3.0.43). Unsure of how I am supposed to resolve this issue and had no response from the fender support email. Other than that still a great amp and app.

Waste of space!

This worked once after spending around six hours updating, deleting, reinstalling, switching things off and on. Hooray it connected. Once! About twenty minutes later no connection between phone and amp. Absolute rubbish. Yeah wish I’d bought a Spark!

Update: note the response from Fender who say ‘contact us’, we’ll help. Well guess what, I did and they haven’t replied. Buy something else people!

Really can’t connect to my Mustang GT100

The functionality would be great, but I can’t get it to connect. It used to work, but these days it just doesn’t. I have tried various things like forgetting pairings on both amp and iPhone, renaming the amp, closing down the app, restarting the amp multiple times, updating to the latest firmware (3.0.43) etc. It’s super unreliable. I wouldn’t buy a Bluetooth connected amp again. Having a new fancy 3D look is pointless for me. Just make Bluetooth work reliably!

Edit: it does seem to be much better now and actually useful

Mustang LT25

Please make the app compatible with the LT25 and a lightning to Mini USB cable. Recent update to LT25 firmware has made Fender Tone available with Mac and PC just need the App on iPhone / iPad to work now. Here’s hoping you can make it happen.

UPDATE: thank you for the response ,nearly a year after my first comments, it doesn’t help though. I know Fender Tone works with a Mac or PC as I said in the initial comments. The point of the comment was to make it work with an iPad or iPhone through a cable as the Amp hasn’t got Bluetooth. It would then be totally portable and very practical as a practice Amp. Please if possible make it work if you can. Many thanks for the support and you have improved the App and fixed a lot of the bugs people seemed to be having with the Bluetooth connection side of things. I would give this App 5 stars if it worked with iPhone through a lightning to USB cable.

Nice layout and easy to add FX, pretty simple to get hooked up to your amp as well. The screen on the amp is pretty easy to use already but this is awesome

Waste of time

Have had this amp a while a have always updated but have nothing but problems says Bluetooth disconnected on the app but says connected on the amp and can play my music through it. Sometimes the amp updates other times it says contact fender which I’ve done but had no replies. I’ve tried disconnecting forget devices reconnecting but nothing works and fender just seem to ignore me. I’m not the only one having problems and I think it’s just ignorance on behalf of fender. I’ve since got a boss katana and that has been great

Awful

Great idea, poor execution. Every time I start the amp and connect it to my phone it is asking for me to update the amp. Sometimes there is an update available, but in the vast majority of the cases there is NOT.

When I have gone through the process of updating nothing, it then won't connect to the Amp according to the app. I can however see in the settings screen on my phone that it is in fact already connected??

As a consequence it renders the app useless and I can download any new settings, nor can I tweak any of the existing one via the phone, but only via the controls on the amp itself.

Not very pleased as I now can't use the amp as intended.

Great idea, poor execution.......what a shame and waste of my money. Disappointing.

Errors and constant updates

This amp is great I love every aspect of it as well as the concept of the app however when I’m not getting an ‘unauthorised’ error I get constant updates for the amp even though after all these update my amp is still on the same version. I need to delete the app and reinstall it just for the downloadable presets to used

Can’t upload custom presets

Made a few pre-sets and cannot upload them. Keeps saying it needs syncing with my app. Even though it is synced. Really disappointing

Frustrating? Or wot?!

All the presets disappear from the app. App repeatedly “fixes”in Amp Sync...can’t do anything with it. It locks up for hours if you let it. Sometimes the app warns that the amp needs an update when it’s already up to date.....it says there are no updates available. All of this reduces the ability to control the amp remotely i.e. at the guitar end of the lead. Wouldn’t have given it any stars at all if that was possible. If they ever sort it out, this amp + the worked on app will be awesome.....but it isn’t yet.

Connectivity issues

My GT40 is fantastic but the connectivity issues I am having with the app are infuriating. Same issues as a previous review. Raised a ticket but no response. I will update this review if a solution is found.

The only downside is that it doesn’t have a line out facility to connect into a PA system.

blue tooth not streaming from device

bluetooth not streaming since update UPDATE ; Fender kindly sent me an email telling me to force update which was to hold encoder in and middle soft key whilst turning on for five seconds , this forced an update ,which seems to have sorted the problem , well done Fender for your quick response.

Doesn’t work

Setlist functionality is so broken. Every time I try and access it it says ‘syncing to amp’ and loads for about 30 mins before crashing and turning off.

Bluetooth works fine for everything else.

Fix it.

Originally infuriating.... now it's great

Update: after a lot of fiddling around and following the advice I managed to force the amp to update properly (it took four attempts and a modicum of swearing).

Now this app works perfectly. I can now access all the tones from this app and they transfer seamlessly to the Amp. It's great.

Original Review: I have a Fender Mustang GT40. I've updated the firmware to the latest version (1.2.25) from the base version (1.0.38). When I try to download a custom tone within the App, it displays the "limited functionality - update firmware to use his feature message" with a "Got it" and "show me how" button. I've followed the show me how and the amp is up to date. But this infuriating message won't go away and I can't download a custom tone. It's driving me mad! I've tried hard resetting the Amp and re-updating; I've deleted the App on my iPhone (running latest version of iOS - I updated yesterday on an iPhone 6S). Why doesn't this work? So much potential but it just won't work. Happy to join Beta Developer Team to help resolve this issue if you can tell me how. I want this to be as great as it looks like it could be. There's nothing on your FAQ that covers this issue and Google has nothing either. Help!!! Rob Taylor

Dreadful app for what is an excellent amp. When you select a preset in the app it totally loads the wrong one and has often over written some presets which took ages to create. Ignore the app and just use the amp!

Has potential...

As my headline says this app has incredible potential but at the moment is coasting along.

My first problem is that the app actually has a few problems. The main one being that when you have selected the preset that you want from your list it does not go to that effect rather to the next one along. A simple bug fix should sort this out.

The app is quite a dull app and could be livened up with a bit more colour.

The initial set up is a little annoying and took longer than I would of liked.

I am also going to take this chance to complain about the lack of availability for the foot switch! In fact the thought of it put the rating from 3-2 Retailers have made it clear that July will be the soonest they will have it!

The online support is good but I would like to see a little more organisation on the downloadables possibly even an opportunity to try before download.

The amp and the app have such potential please please please realise this and put a bit more effort in to it and I promise I will change the rating!
