Need to pay for anything good ,steals your photos and could post them online and guess what my photos are my photos someone could be using them out there now and I don’t want that if your thinking of getting this app stop thinking and move on . Worst Decision Ever Made: Removing Face Swap

Removing Face Swap was the worst thing this app ever did. It was by far the best feature it had and it’s been removed for no good reason. All removing it has done has made the app less versatile. Not subscribing again until it returns. I’ll be using other other alternatives to FaceApp unless this feature comes back.

Or another alternative could be to make Face Swap into its own separate app. That way you’re at least not wasting such a well developed feature that was once so popular.

I see you have told someone else that has also asked you to bring back Hollywood 3 that 2 and 4 are the same, but I assure you they are NOT!!! My boyfriend has darker skin and Hollywood 4 lightens his skin and tries to turn his brown eyes blue!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hollywood 2 is way too much! He looks like a different person. Hollywood 3 for men was perfect because it was subtle. Please realise that not everyone is trying to lighten their skin and not every culture find skin lightening attractive.

BRING BACK THE VIDEO OPTION! I won’t be subscribing for the full year again. This app was amazing until the video option disappeared. Why? Used to be great

This used to be a fantastic app, but they’ve removed the only things people actually wanted to use it for and put the majority of everything else behind a paywall. Interesting to see their responses to other reviews on here saying that the Face-Swap feature “doesn’t align with the development concept”, well, I hope your development concept aligns nicely with loads of people deleting your app, or never getting it in the first place, because that’s what’s going to happen!

Like many other users, the removal of the face-swap/morph feature has had a detrimental impact on consumer experience. Face-swap/morph has been, arguably, one of its most renowned and popular features. Without this, a lot of previous FaceApp users will seek other apps to fill the supply gap. A lot of the current features now available are very much available on other apps, and far more accessible. Dropping a defining app feature seems to be more detrimental than positive.

USED to be the best app ever

I have been using this app for over 3 years now and up until recently it has been one of my favourite apps to use. I am not entirely sure when but they have deleted the face morphing feature which was the main reason I use the app and I know this is the same for so many other people. I do not see any point of me carrying on my subscription to this app now (which i have also had for multiple years) due to this. I am very disappointed with this but apart from that this app does work very well so if you are not interested in that face morphing aspect of the app then i highly recommend this app.

They keep on turning off features you pay for in the middle of subscription

Update: I just noticed they turn off features for only some customers! I lost morphing and VIDEO feature despite paying for both for a year subscription! Then noticed my husband has video angled on his app!!

There was a morphing feature I loved to use, and now they removed it today, although I paid for a whole year to subscribe. Had I paid monthly, I would have had the option to cancel subscription. If they want to turn off features they should do it at beginning of subscription cycle with prior notice! Not even sure if it’s legal what they do. It’s like I sell you 1Kg of strawberries and you pay, when I deliver fruit, I take a handful of good strawberries out and leave you with 70% of what you paid for.

The removal of Face Swap/Morp

This app was rather good until this update, which for the life of me I cannot understand the reasoning for how it would be an improvement. From the heavily vague and overtly corporate “developer responses”, all I can tell is that it was a decision made so the other features could be “improved upon”, however most of the other features worked fine in my experience and, more than that, the other features are not unique in the slightest and can be found in MANY other apps. The one feature - Face Swap/Morph - that cannot be found elsewhere (and believe me I’ve looked), the one feature that made the app unique and what made using for THIS app worth it for many of it’s users is the feature they decided to remove. Needless to say, for many people it will no longer be worth using. Heavily disappointed and genuinely sad as it was a feature I relied upon often.

I used to love this app but now they’ve removed the face swap feature it’s no different to all the other editing apps available (which are 100x better at editing photos) Such a shame because I was a paying customer. I really don't understand why did you get rid of face swap u had such an amazing app with the best face-swapping features that were hugely popular, and then you just out of the blue took it away. The face swap feature was the main reason why a lot of people used this app and even paid extra for a subscription. I really don’t understand it. By doing this, you must be losing so much money, and people will switch to other apps that have a face-swapping. Admittedly, they may not be as good as yours was yet, but eventually, there will be an app that can do it just as well if not better hopefully. Then you’re going to be in real trouble. I can see this app disappearing within a few years, which is really unfortunate because it was so good. You've lost me as a paying subscriber, and after reading the reviews, I can see that you’ve lost hell of a lot of other people too. Really bad Business decision.

They removed the best feature

I redownloaded this app when I remembered the face swap/morph feature to discover that is has been removed. Apart from that it’s an absolutely useless app and everything is behind a paywall and the only thing worth paying for was that face swap/morph feature since it was miles better than almost every other app with that feature out there. Absolutely terrible development/marketing decision. I would use the app again and subscribe if that one feature was brought back but in the meantime I am deleting it and I wouldn’t recommend you download it at all. Almost everything that the app offers now can be done for free, a TikTok filter can do a better job of the existing features of this app. Developers you really are out of touch with your consumers if you think this decision was an improvement and whoever pushed that decision through needs firing.

Impractical advertisement.

Right I’ve used this app before and practical, selected effects were free use from each category. Now I just downloaded it, and I have to pay for everything? This is ridiculous really. Why make an app free when you need to pay for simple uses, that’s very impractical and I was severely disappointed with the lack of functionality of this app. Please stop deceiving people into thinking they are going to get at least some useful affects and advertise your app properly!

Kinda pointless tbh. I used to use this app a lot a few year back on multiple devices. Tried to get back into it recently and was first stumped at the 7£ price tag. For only one month of use. Was then again stumped by the disappearance of face swap. The best feature of the app and the feature that justified the monthly fee. So there’s kind of no real point in getting the app anymore. If it wasn’t 7£ maybe. But The only thing that would of justified 7£ is the face swap. With both these negatives the app is just at a recession really. Sad to see as it was an incredible app just a couple years ago.

merging disappeared??

i used to use this app a whole lot like almost weekly primarily because of the merge tool. I accidentally deleted the app and when i re-downloaded it i scrolled along to the bit where it would usually be and it had disappeared. I was so so confused because in the app description it literally says you can merge faces so i didn’t think that they removed it completely i don’t know if i had an old version of the app or something but like where did it go??

Takes a full year subscription instead of a month after free trial

Updated response: it is a problem with the app itself in the sense that the app said I would be charged for a months subscription after the free trial ended and instead you charged me for a year. Also the app does not work very well.

Couldn’t figure out how to cancel the automatic subscription post-free trial, nowhere to do so using the app. It said I had 3 days of free trial which I started on the 1st Feb and it said I had until the 3rd to cancel. It’s the 3rd today so surely I should still be able to cancel and I found where to do so on the App Store but find I have been charged £35 for a whole year of this app which really doesn’t do much and doesn’t do a great job of what it does do. The disclaimer before starting the free trial said I would be charged £7.99 per month after the trial ended so I feel I have been doubly conned.

Theft

The only reason I got this app and paid for the premium was to use the video feature, and now that feature has been removed. The developers have essentially taken my money.

Apple will not issue a refund, and the premium subscription is now at a significantly lower price to new users. But what is being done about the users who paid for the premium at a much higher rate and then had the features they paid for removed?

It is obviously within the developers' rights to change features, but what I think has happened is they developed an app, charged a much higher premium subscription, cashed in on that, and then decided that the costs of upholding the video feature are not worth it.

So, they are taking the money of all the people who have paid but not offering the service that people have bought, which is misrepresentation and not fair to customers who’ve paid.

The elevated premium price for the video should be reimbursed for the difference of the new lower premium rate because they are not getting what they paid for.

No video?

I downloaded the app because my friend has it and she can edit photos as well as videos. I purchased the pro version under the impression that I could also edit videos, but after speaking to customer service representatives found out that video editing has been removed from the app all together for new customers.

I discussed it with the rep and they said that eventually ALL users will lose the video editor and there’s no mention of when or if we will get it back?

It was half of the whole reason I bought it, and as amazing and incredible as the photo editor is, I’m SO disappointed that I’m not able to use the video part.

I need to know why or if it’s coming back, and when, because other than that everything else is great!

Awesome until video feature went

I loved this so much and had been a longtime subscriber. Recently I had a new phone so reinstalled the app over and ever since the video feature is gone? I have sadly cancelled and will look for something similar I guess. Apparently they’ve discontinued that feature now? It’s such a shame because if it wasn’t for that fact I’d give it 5 stars and use it always. Apart from that, when it was fully functional it was an amazing app and so user friendly. I used to love it. If they ever bring the video edit feature back I would definitely subscribe again but I do more videos that photos so it’s not worth it for me for pictures alone.

I like it, but you need to like pay for a few things and it gets a bit annoying sometimes because there’s not very many options. There’s only like a few options if you don’t pay so that’s why I did a four star but yeah it’s still good but like some of the features are terrible like the freckle filter is quite bad, but other than that I like the different like colours of the filters and stuff like behind the background. Effects bug is annoying

I used to love this app and mainly used it for videos. However for the last couple of months the effects have disappeared. The icon is still there but there are no effects to select after that. This was one of my favourite features and I was going to purchase a lifetime subscription once it’s time to renew but without the effects feature I won’t be renewing my subscription. I was hoping it would be fixed by now but even after deleting and reinstalling the app it still doesn’t work.

Video editing only available on random phones

Got this app as my friend uses the same and still has access to the video and live video version, on my phone it pops up randomly with the option to edit videos (only happened once long enough to select a video, when I came out my window to check on something else the feature had disappeared entirely again) I pay monthly, I do need access to the photo editor alone but for how much I pay I feel like I’ve been conned bc I’m missing out on half of the reason I downloaded the app

cool but features dissapeared

It was a cool app to mess with occasionally however recently they seem to have removed the collages feature where you got a preview of each of the features, which was neat to trial stuff on different images in small size and resolution. Perhaps there could be some sort of system to get pro features via watching ads (e.g 1/2 per pro effect then a couple when saving like remini would do)

Novelty wore off

Most features were free now they are not. I never had the free trial of the Pro version and found what no fee features were enough to be entertaining. I’m unable to use any features without paying. Very disappointed the developer has chosen to force full payment for all features except a small number 10 out of 23 approx. I can understand AI algorithms on there server require time and money to process however the remaining background and filters are of lik little use. And honestly speaking the de-aging filter is completely wrong and doesn’t show a younger you when compared to actual pics at the age. So should be considered more fun than accurate. App deleted.

Great app to Compliment your look or transform

I use it to decide what makeup look to go for and to touch up pictures using the prefix “natural” option - as the other options can completely change a persons appearance making them unrecognisable; I notice this to be very noticeable when wanting to touch up pictures of friends who do not have Eurocentric features. Also there isn’t a teeth whitening option I think this is needed to balance the colours when you change lipsticks. Those are my only two criticisms otherwise a very useful app- I feel the price is justified too.

Terrible Privacy & Other Issues

First they give a link to terms but you can’t click on it to read them. They ask for access to all your photos to store on their cloud which I refused. Then it states even if you delete the app your photos will remain on their cloud. There is no GDPR acceptance. You had to sign up for free trial once 3 day trial ended you are charged unless you cancel, I couldn’t easily see where to cancel. Refused all permissions for privacy reasons and app continually closed. App deleted immediately. EDIT. You write a review and they have the audacity to say you’ve read terms wrong. I actually screenshot it and it does say they keep your photos even after you’ve deleted the app.

Face app is beyond what I expected! When my friend told me about face app and how you can see celebrities kids like, Tom Holland and zendaya. That’s really all I thought it could do when my friend told me but after I got it I realised, face app has so much entertaining things on there you can edit makeup on people! And even see what people look like when there older! It also can be handy for Instagram models when they want to edit things out of their photos!! Definitely recommend!!!! 9.5/10

Amazing app but needs one fix

One of the best face editing apps on the market but please please fix the problem that doesn’t let you open pictures unless it recognises a face, if I’m editing a batch of photos I want them to have the same filters even if I’m not editing the faces in all of them or faces aren’t visible in all of them. Letting me use your filters even when a face isn’t there will give me better consistency across a set of pictures.

Good but limited

FaceApp is quite good I must say but the one problem is that you only get limited choices unless you pay. This might be ok for some people but for others you just have a restricted editing app. When you are using a celebrity picture or one from your photos, you have the limited version but if you use one of their people you don’t have to pay. I guess this is fair so you know what the pro things do before you pay but sometimes you see something on a different person then you pay and it doesn’t work as expected. All I’m saying is only pay if you really want to get the pro items.

BEST APP

This app is sooooo funny and cool

It is the best. When I am bored all I do no is go on this app and make my face look ssuuuupppeerrr funny! I was really shocked when I took a photo of myself and there was an upgrade so you could remove spots! IT WORKED SOOOOO WELL

The only thing that really annoys me is that on each filter there are only a couple that you can actually use! The rest of the filters are PRO and you need to pay real money for that!

Apart from that I would totally recommend this app it is AMAZING!!!!!!

took my money

downloaded this app today just to play around and have some fun with it, as soon as you open the app it offers you a 3 day free trial. I often do the free trails and then cancel them the day before billing. When I clicked on the 3 day free trial and I used my Apple ID it had actually charged me £30 for the whole year subscription instantly. The £30 has already been taken out of my account when initially I just wanted to try the free trail not spend that amount of money! Extremely disappointed as the advert specifically said 3 day free trial and not click here to pay for a years subscription! have definitely been scammed here and am annoyed. Have already gone to cancel my year subscription but it says I am still valid to use the pro version until next year. Definitely wasn’t worth the money after all and am trying to get a refund!

Brings ads back!

I love the app and I loved it when you could watch ads to unblock filters and edits. Now everything useful is blocked, and you must pay to unblock. I get that they need to profit from it, but it’s better to profit from ads than asking people to pay because most of us don’t have the luxury to spend money for an editing app. I don’t even work yet since I’m a student so there’s no way I’d be able to pay. Please don’t bother answering if you’re gonna say that I must remember that the showcase tab has free filters and that there are plenty unblocked filters - the showcase tab only purpose is to see how the filters would lock, not to actually edit the photo, and the only free filters are the age ones or the gendered ones, and you know most people aren’t interested in those ones.

Not the best

I have had this app for a while now. I don’t think there is enough free stuff as there is like one free thing in each category, so you end up creating the same style of people over and over, and over again. I would also like there to be accessories so you can beautify people with accessories. I also want more demos so you can experiment things with different people each time instead of it being the same people over and over. To be honest, this app is not the best and, there is a lot of bugs in the game. They also can take your photos and invade your privacy.

Great app however

I absolutely love this app, however I would love to see ... an eraser to erase an area for the particular filter you are using (hair/makeup etc) as currently the area you erase erases anything done so if for example you wanted to erase a hair area that the app added over your face it would erase the makeup added too. Also after the latest update I can no longer lock a hairstyle in place to add a second one and I use to love this feature! Sometimes I’d like to see a curl with a fringe for example and this has been removed!! Please get it back!! Also bring back straight hair please!!

Subscription

Initially delighted with FaceApp, however since having paid subscription, I keep getting “Subscription Error, please try again in a few seconds” this has been going on all day now! I hope this “bug” is stamped out ASAP as for the last 14 hours it’s been useless. 8/10 let’s get back to 10/10.

I love it but one thing

I love it it has all the features I was wanting to use and more there is a pro option that you do have to pay for but it’s optional it unlocks a few more effects anyway the one thing is that when I add my own customised background it never loads please help me fix this I really want to try it but apart from that I like it alot and everything works

I. Got this game a month and I never sooo i thought I would make a video about it bc I was bored as soon as I pressed the app weird things started happening my light turned of and all my photos turned into the app picture I got verry scared but I ignored it in till 3:11am I got a text that my game said I paid 20 dollars for the thing I didn’t pay for it soo I was confused but I had to go get dog food for my dog soo I went. 11:7am my phone started ringing from the company that’s when I got confused and thought it was sus I answered when I answered I heard a weird voice laughing it sounded like somone listen to the funniest joke in the world that’s when I had a funny feeling sooo I deleted the app and everything was back to normal soo plz soo not download I don’t have anything against the company I am just saying ITS CREEPY

Pro Problems

It is a very good app but without the “Pro” the varieties of changes are very limited. I think they should make pro a bit more cheaper because not everyone can pay money just for a photo of lies. Because technically it is, your changing your appearance and background of the photo, I tried even just with the smile editor I didn’t look like myself. Even if they won’t make it cheaper they should at least make just a tiny bit more varieties for people who are not willing to pay for the “Pro”. The app is very useful, how I can change the backround and choose whatever one I pick for 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲! - It's also sutible for younger children as there is nothing unsuitable! - There are a few issues where it says I’m a man when I have my hair tied up and won’t let me use the change gender icon.. - I don’t really like how a lot of things are real money, it’s a bit annoying but.. overall the app is pretty good and I enjoy using Face App!

Good

Very good and has good results but i think the faceswap section could improve in one way:

When i have mixed myself with a black person eg beyonce it has always come out white and doesn’t take the skin colour into consideration which is disappointing. And also whenever you do the ‘our son/daughter’ or change the age to child it makes them really pale as well and i would just like more accuracy on the skin tone :)

Also, random idea but i thought adding freckles to your face would be a good update.😊

Good but....

It's good but if you want to do most of the stuff you have to get pro mode and if you want to get promoted you have to pay over £40 for it and And I don't think I want to pay that much money for just a game and if you want to get most of the stuff like if you wanna put blonde hair on it or actual make up on it all stuff you have to pay £40 for it so I wouldn't recommend if you don't wanna pay £40 for it but if you know have a Enough for that then Buy it but most people would want to spend £40 on a game

Something weird about the quality with the newest update.

I use the same picture as comparison every update to see if anything has changed with and this latest update the image looks different to previous ones when I use the same presets as before, so I guess they have changed something but not for the better. The newer interface is fine, but in general I would say the latest upgrade is a step in the wrong direction. For example why is long hair giving different results now? It used to make hair looks full a little straighter, now it seems to be blurry and fuzzy looking when editing the same pictures. Not sure what’s happened. Definitely doesn’t feel like it’s beautifying or improving images like before, some of the make ups look a little off too, the eyes seem darker. In general the quality has really taken a dip.

If the app was working like it was before I’d say it was a solid 4.5, as currently is though it’s not quite there. This is a good example of don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Amazing... until it stopped being amazing

I spent hours upon hours of fun morphing faces together and ageing people. It’s such a addictive app and the quality of the final results were incredible.. until one day, the quality decided to disappear! One minute, the app was producing stunning, life-like faces, the next, it was blurring images, getting the shading all wrong and turning faces into things that didn’t match the standard I was used to. Yesterday, I morphed a picture of my girlfriend onto my face and I got a beautiful result, but today I tried again, with exactly the same two photos, and it didn’t look the same at all. In fact, it was quite disturbing 😂 Please fix this app and make it go back to normal.

Overrated

I’m actually really confused on why this has good reviews 😂 I downloaded it thinking it would be amazing but it was really weird. I downloaded this app because I wanted to see what I looked like when I was older and it was literally a picture of me with ‘crinkled’ skin- not accurate at all, I know you can’t come up with a completely accurate photo but I was expecting a lot more. The makeup photo was something 😂😂 it had really pink lips and cheeks, no one would ever wear that lol. If you want this app for a laugh with your friends, I definitely recommend but if you want something ‘professional’ this isn’t the best app.

Yes it’s been fixed (and altered)

Wanted to update my review as now finally my pictures are loading again and not crashing! Yipee. Happy it’s working again as I love this app. Not sure where one of the adjustment settings went but still super happy it’s been fixed. Thank you programmers! 😊 this is a great app for subtle changes not over done (can do extreme if u want but I want subtle and this has great options that still look like you not false faced) also has some very funny adjustments that can be used seriously or to have a laugh with like adding smiles, aging, etc. Also love the gender swap options. Great app for males and females. Huge range of make up/ hair colour changes etc. Great stuff.

When I first saw the app I thought it would ask me to pay once I’m on it. It did give me the option the become a pro. When I saw that I thought “oh no” then I pressed cancel and I started editing. When I chose a background I thought it would look like such a green screen but it actually didn’t! I like that you can make yourself look old or young. I tried this with my friend and we had a laugh making each other look old. Overall, I think this app is the best editing app. I would highly recommend this! 🌈💖❤️

Really good app...

Personally, I think that this app is a very good one. I do recommend getting this app although I do have a concern.. I think you could make us look better when we want to find out how we will look when we are older or very old... when I wanted to find out how I looked when I was at an old age, I was horrified at what I was seeing and it made me pretty disappointed. I had wrinkles all over my face and looked like an old rag(no offence to the app). Other than that I really do recommend this app because you can do all sorts of things like photoshopping which is a really similar version to the one I usually use.. overall I think that you should definitely get this app and if you do look bad when you look at how you will appear to be when you are old( like me ) don’t worry 😉 it is only an app and it isn’t real😁

The company told Washington Post that the Russian government won't have access to your data unless you already live in the county. On the other hand, deleting the app won't remove your data from FaceApp's cloud, in order to protect your data privacy, you'll need to go through a complicated bug-report process.

Invasion of privacy

I recently downloaded the app and played around making myself look older, as everyone else did. But unfortunately, post download, found out the app actually keeps your photos and can potentially sell them on to third party’s (GDPR issue?). I’m aware that users are meant to know about this through terms and conditions but only about 10% of people actually read them. It is my understanding that consent to hold or share information must be specifically granted in order to do so, and lack of consent should be assumed to be that they don’t wish for it to be kept, ie, not ‘downloading the app assumes you give consent’.

I wasn’t happy in the slightest and immediately deleted the app in attempt to keep some of my privacy in tact, however I fear the damage is already done and they will forever have my photos of myself, and friends and family. It concerns me that the app is suitable for people aged 4 and above as if FaceApp is keeping people’s photos from such a young age, could this not be considered a massive breach of privacy as anyone below the age of 10 is probably completely unaware of what they are giving consent to. Does this also cross the line between legal and illegal activity concerning perhaps a parents photo of a child?

If you, like myself, are cautious concerning your data, please listen. To start off, when I have searched for any privacy policy inside this app my search came up fruitless. I then had to go online and look for the policy. I then found this piece of information embedded inside the long, lengthy text.

“[We may] provide PERSONALIZED content and information to you and others, which could include online ads or other forms of marketing.”

This means that FaceApp collects your data and shows you ads tailored to your personality. FaceApp also collects,

“Device identifiers and LOCATION data.”

FaceApp is a prime example of “free” apps.

Sadly, this is not true as FaceApp collects your personal data which means they MILK you for cash. Although they DON’T sell it to 3rd parties they still have access to your personal information. Personal information about yourself is priceless and no one deserves to have access to it except YOU.

The only reason that I gave it a 2 star review is because it is a fun and entertaining app for everyone. However no person or company deserves your PRIVATE DATA.

Have I been charged for nothing?

I opened the app for the first time and pressed “reject offer” or whatever the button said under the “free trial & monthly payment “ option and that screen went away revealing the app, no payment info was shown on screen or any authentication but then whilst scrolling through the filters I had a “thank you for your purchase” message pop up on screen and it says “purchased” if I go on the pro section, I never selected to pay anything or had any payment confirmation show up like it usually does & I pressed reject on the monthly charge button. Extremely concerned I’ve just been scammed into a rolling charge that I have no idea the amount of or where to cancel.

Sheer brilliance

Despite some initial bugs in this app (something that Vlada and her team are passionate in resolving so as to give the app its full potential), it is an excellent way of creating funny and extraordinary images of anyone’s face you decide to change. There are in app purchases that give you access to premium filters, but it’s not compulsory to do this as you can have lots of fun with the basic ones included. It’s up to you to decide if you want the premium filters or not.

For me, this app is just so much fun and brings pleasant surprises with some of the results.

Big congrats to Vlada and the team for an app of sheer brilliance. Keep up the good work guys. 👍🏻😊

Disappointing

This app is misleading. I was under the impression that the watermark was removed, but you still have to put up with the word FaceApp down on the corner of the collage. And whilst we are on that topic, why can I not save the image as a single image? There are very few choices and I became bored after a short while. Very expensive for what lasted just a couple of hours. Lots of improvements needed here – more choices, no logo or watermark and full saves of images to start with. Until then I advise people to save their money.

Worth it, but...!

Any app that can make me laugh out loud like yours just did is worthy of getting my money. However after spending a tenner on it I was left a little disappointed at the lack of real extras that bought me. Please get rid of or improve the Collage function so that the effects can be saved as a single image. And things like adding a fringe (bangs), why only one style!? Little things like this, please use my hard earnt cash to improve on these things so I’ll continue to laugh out loud rather than just delete it after getting bored with it after a few goes.
