FEATURES
PLAY ACCOMPANIED BY THE BEST PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS
Metronaut’s accompanists are among the best orchestras and pianists. Each accompaniment offers fully acoustic and high quality studio recordings. You can adjust its tempo without impairing sound quality.
SETUP YOUR TEMPO AS DESIRED
If you play music mainly as a hobby, Metronaut will help improve your level, as if musicians were standing by your side. You can play any piece you wish, at your rhythm, freely. And this at the original tempo, or at any other tempo you want.
MASTER YOUR PROGRESS
Aside from playing the instrument per se, nothing is harder than keeping up with the right tempo. Note after note, Metronaut’s "Tempo Regulator" feature will draw you towards that comfortable tempo you had initially set.
LIBERATE YOURSELF AND BYPASS YOUR LIMITS
Get empowered to play at your own rhythm throughout the piece: Metronaut adapts accompaniment tempo to your interpretation in real-time.
EXPAND YOUR REPERTOIRE
You can transpose any piece for your voice or instrument: baritone for a soprano, violon for a clarinet… Whether you want to play a classical piece with a rare instrument or with another instrument than the one originally intended, or sing outside of your voice range, you will enjoy just the right transposition.
EXPERIENCE OUR DIGITAL SCORE
Metronaut leverages music scores to the digital age: setting the tempo down to the very beat, a score scrolling as you play, selecting where to start down to the very note, choosing clefs, transposing for different instruments or voice ranges… All meant to empower you to perform under the best possible conditions.
OPTIMIZE YOUR PROGRESS
Metronaut provides everything you need to make more progress and avoid bad habits: Record and listen to the piece you just played while following your performance on the score. A difficult part to play? Select and play it in loop until you get round the cape. You can also tune your instrument to your ideal pitch, annotate your score... And listen to other interpretations! Use all the data and statistics you need to track your practice frequency and thus optimize your work.
ENRICH OUR CATALOG, SHARE YOUR PERFORMANCES
Metronaut's catalog expands by you and for you: upvote pieces suggested by other users and suggest your own new pieces!
You can also make audio or video recordings of your performances and share them to help other musicians.

Fantastic app!

I really love using Metronaut, it has a brilliant selection of pieces and I think it’s great that you can suggest new ones to be added. It’s really easy to switch between instruments too, which is a feature I make use of often! Thank you for creating such a fantastic app, I completely recommend this.

Seems like a good app but...

Seems like a good app but def not for beginners. I’ve been learning for a while now (very slowly) and even the first beginner song I couldn’t play even if I took the tempo down to the slowest.
App now deleted and I’ll come back to it when I’m intermediate

Working well now

I subscribed for a month to test it out, and to use as a practice aid for my melodically (which masquerades as an oboe for the purpose of the app). So far I am impressed. I'm not a fan of backing tracks, but it is good to have one that adapts to my performance. Having said that, I still haven't managed (using the magic wand) to get the Bach 'Badinerie' accompaniment to start precisely when I do - maybe it needs a count-in. I shall enjoy reading my way through the other repertoire over the next couple of weeks.

quite good but some issues

great but i play the oboe/cor anglais and there are often notes slightly below the range and the transposition of the cor is consistently wrong - not really an issue because i can just change it manually but it should be transposed up a fifth not down a fifth

So much potential - love it!

This is an app that musicians have been waiting for for a long time. New features are still being rolled out, but already the potential of this app is immense. I'm already onboard and subscribed - so happy to have found it!

Some way to go yet

Nice idea but pieces for trumpet in Bb have come out in alto clef. Seems a bit flaky.

Good idea but limited options

I do like the concept of this app, and it really has great potential. However, when I open the app, or try to get out of the piece I am playing, the “Welcome to Metronaut” page is thrust in my face. I have only been able to return to the homepage once. Also, when I try to switch instruments (from piano to voice), it comes up with recommendations for Piano, so I would not render this app useful at the moment. If these improvements are made, this would definitely become a better app.

Some improvements please

I love this app, its a brilliant tool. However, you claim its available on all devices but when I tried to download it on my samsung tablet it said “not available in your country” which isnt the case because I have the app on my phone In this country. I have to delete the app from my phone because it takes up 5GB of my 16GB storage. I simply do not have room for it. This wouldnt be such an issue if we had the option to delete certain pieces that we downloaded. I have lots of pieces saved that are not tailored for my instrument that I wish I could delete as they take up lots of storage. The app asks what instrument you play which is absolutely pointless because it recommended pieces for other instruments besides my own. Therefore, when I first downloaded it, I purchased random songs only to find that I couldnt play them because it recommended songs for the Bass (which I dont play). Also, another improvement that could be added is the option to preview songs before you buy them. I have been blindly downloading flute pieces in the hope that its something I will enjoy to play.

Superb

I thought this would be a bit of a toy and I downloaded it out of curiosity. Was I ever wrong!
I love the ethos of it - instead of enticing you to part with cash all the time you can ‘earn’ more music by practising more.
The quality of the scores is superb, even when transposed to obscure keys -occasionally a slur might look a bit odd, but that’s all I’ve noticed. The accompaniments have a really organic feel and I’m not sure how this is accomplished as they still sound good when slowed right down.
I’ve also found the designers very responsive to suggestions which gives me great hope for its development. If they add a loop function I’ll be even more sold on it.
All in all a great way to practise, a seriously beneficial app for amateurs and pros alike.

Top learning aid, with great customer support

I’ve been using this app for several weeks now and love it so much my trumpet practice time has more than doubled. To get the best out of it I’ve been plugging my iPad headphone output into my HiFi to get that big whole-room sound. It’s very adaptable in both pitch/key and tempo and has some very useful features. It’s easy to use too. I had a minor issue with some of the buttons being a bit small and fiddly and fed this back to the developers who immediately made improvements. I highly recommend this app for all musicians of any level.

Great potential

I was very excited when I found out about this app as I've been longing for for the opportunity to play the piano 'with' an orchestra.
There are only two pieces for pianists to play (a movement from two different Mozart concertos). However, hopefully there will be more to come (e.g. Grieg, Tchaikovsky, etc piano concertos) as more pieces seem to added all the time.
Standard orchestral instruments seem to have a large selection of pieces, so the flautists, cellists, violist etc out there have nothing to worry about.
The main thing is that, playing the adagio from Mozart Piano Concerto no. 23 (I haven't tried other pieces), the accompaniment produces a very bad cracking sound on my iPad 4th gen. Running the sound through separate headphones makes it slightly better, but still impossible to listen to.
As soon as this problem is sorted, the app would be deserving of 5 stars, as it is otherwise pretty much faultless
