Subscription features not working

I subscribed to the chargeable service, and gained access to the content, but when I tried to look at it a few hours later it said I wasn’t a subscriber. Have tried restoring purchases but still doesn’t work. When it was working everything seemed ok, easy enough to find data sheets etc...

So far, so disappointing

Despite the already known issues with the app, I was willing to give GW the benefit of the doubt and try subscribing, with the knowledge that a roadmap for improvements was set out. However, I’ve just tried going back to the app a couple of hours after subscribing and it has apparently forgotten - it’s asking me to subscribe all over again. Restore Purchases does nothing - so all I’m left with is a very expensive link to a PDF of the core rules. Really disappointing.

Fairly poor, low quality compared to tools created by community

Information available, even with subscription, is annoying limited and poorly organised (by book isn’t useful, by faction would make much more sense).

Things like not having a full explanation of what the plague companies grant under the plague company section for death guard is annoying. The information might be in app somewhere but isn’t easy to find. The choice not to include lore was probably a bad one as well considering I can get all of this information for free of Wahapedia in much more accessible fashion.

Not holding my breath for the army builder feature being any good. This was a cheap low quality product. For what GW are asking for for subscription I expected it to be off higher quality.

To make matter worse there is some glitch where it dose not recognise my subscription after closing the app. When you press to subscribe again it simply says your already subscribed but won’t allow access to codexes. In all, kind of a terrible launch of something so easy to get right.

I just subscribed to your new 40K app and was enjoying it. After leaving the app and returning a few minutes later I find the thing thinks I am a new customer!?!? It does not recognise that I have already signed up and subscribed!?! All it will let me do is...SUBSCRIBED AGAIN!!!!! come on guys really???? Sort this fast or I am cancelling my subscription with you “Awesome new App”

Well this has the core rules (check).

The rest is behind a paywall (expected).

Scanned my books and nothing it doesn’t work (lame).

Everything this says it can do or maybe will do in the future is done better by other programs or websites. (Disappointing)

Utter rubbish

Having the same issue as a lot of people. Subscribed and now the app doesn’t work. Games Workshop, you have had plenty of time to get this right, how can you have got it so wrong. It also looks like the £3.99 per month subscription is extortion for what is available. You also stated that the first month is free if you sign up before the end of July. However, that hasn’t stopped you taking my money. DONT SIGN UP

This should of never been released

The app has great potential but after closing the app the first time I’m opening it now to find the app asking me to subscribe again. Trying that sends me to my subscriptions where I’m shown, I have in fact spent money on literally nothing and the restore purchases button does, again, literally nothing.

GW need to remove the app and try again, this app straight up does not work, you’re better off waiting til they pull their finger out or just going back to BattleScribe. Never mind the fact that the core features aren’t even there yet, there is no army builder and for some reason opening core rules opens a pdf from their google drive? Nothing functionally wrong just seems ridiculously odd. Cut your losses and don’t get the app.

It’s not ready!

I’m a massive supporter of GW. Love everything they produce. But this is not a good app sadly. And it’s nothing compared to their Age of Sigmar App. But granted it’s not finished...so why charge for a subscription now? It’s kind of cheeky. I’m a little sad that GW couldn’t use their Age of Sigmar app design for this new 40K app.

Terrible

This app could have been so great if not rushed out the door. No list builder & a terrible organisation structure for the codexes.

£4/year for basically nothing, even from Games Workshop is a con for an app in this state.

Also it’s 2020 and no iPad support - what? This isn’t Instagram.

Doesn’t register subscription

Subscribed through this app but when I open it it doesn’t register that I’ve already subscribed. It asks me to either subscribe again or use the free version. Tapping on restore purchases does nothing and trying to subscribe again causes the app to freeze. Free mode is good but in this version is nowhere near fit for purpose.

after paying the 3.99 for subscription and closing the app when i reopened it everything was locked and even when i click on “i’m already a subscriber” it just puts me on the free version so i can’t see any of the stuff i paid for, it just puts me on the subscribe now or use free page

WIP

There is still a long way to go on this app, particularly when compared with a very good Age of Sigmar app. One issue I am having is being asked to resubscribe whenever I open the app, hopefully a bundle of updates are on their way!

Disappointed

I was hoping that I could use this offline; it looks like I’ll need a network connection to access anything useful like codexes or rules.

This is a step backwards from ePubs etc; it’s a real hinderance that I can’t have the rules or codexes downloaded to my tablet. Having to download a whole bunch of data every time I want to look at something is crippling and slow.

I really hope they sort it out otherwise I can see this failing.

Been waiting for an app like this for ages so downloaded and subscribed immediately. However the app keeps telling me to subscribe again and doesn’t seem to recognise that I’m already paying! Hope this gets fixed soon so I can actually check it out properly!

Terrible app, have subscribed and it shows in my active subscriptions however wont unlock and just shows the button asking me to subscribe. When I select this it tells me I’m already subscribed..... frustrating.

Needs fixing

I’m a big fan of what Games Workshop do so happy to support it with the £3.99 subscription. It doesn’t give much at the moment but looks like it will give more in the near future.

The problem is after signing in with my account and then subscribing, after the third open of the app it lost that I was signed in and now I cannot access the app. If I press restore purchases, nothing happens and it just sits there on that screen so I cannot access anything in the app including the content I have paid a subscription for! Deleting and reinstalling the app didn’t change the behaviour.

Early days for the app, but comon peeps, you can do better than this!

So, after waiting for the app to become available on here and seeing that it had been updated to fix some issues I took the plunge and paid £3.99 to try it out. It’s completely useless. I got access to the codexes for a few hours, now the app is locked and I can only view the free rules. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Buyer Beware!

First complaint is that, although I’ve paid, the app is now refusing the let me view anything unless I subscribe again!

Appreciate that this has a roadmap for the missing features, but the decision to group data cards by book rather than by army, means that what results is a bit clunky to use in practise

Even if you do use this, be aware that there are a number of mistakes in the unit and weapon rules, and you will probably need to cross reference these with the books and FAQ in order to play

ITS NOT READY

GW has taken MVP to a new level. They need to know that the V in MVP means viable. Minimal “viable” product.

So you subscribe. The next time round it locks you out, then you click I’m a subscriber, then it asks you to pay £3.99 again. Then it tells you your renewal date, then takes you back to “subscribe now” or use for free. So it’s either locked to paying users or £3.99 by use not per month.

You have a lot to learn at UX and product development. Cut your loses and go back to the drawing board.

Has a lot of potential...

... but at the moment it is not worth the subscription. Needs a lot more polish including features to save favourites (things like Stratagems, relics etc) create army lists (not available at launch) and better organisation of information. I was going to give it two stars as I have faith it will improve but I have dropped it to one star as the app will not load for me anymore even though I have paid for the subscription. I expected much more from Games Workshop, especially if they have the cheek to ask for money to use it fully!

Just don’t... you are better off sticking to Battlescribe

So I just downloaded the app on iOS and wow.... The only thing I can do is open up a web browser to view the core rules. Everything else is behind the ridiculously over priced paywall. I had hoped it would be more like the Age of Sigmar app. All the data sheets for the units are free, the rules also free. I can unlock detachments when I buy my army books in the app and to get the excellent army builder it’s just 99p a month. No idea why they think this app is worth more per month. Think I’ll be sticking with Battlescribe...

Subscription problems

So I subscribed and it was going great really like the app and was looking forward to what was coming soon for it but I closed the app and when ever I try to go back in it asks me to subscribe which I have already done and it won’t let me sign in so I only get the free version

Nice idea but totally fails in execution

This looks as rushed as a COVID-19 track and trace app.

Basic UI, link to PDF rules not interactive in any way- codexes for new stuff have to be paid for even if subscribing, and army builder not even available.

Not paying for this.

Will watch with interest but needs serious work, oh and a proper tablet edition.

Funny, but seriously no.

This stuff should be free, don’t bother downloading unless you plan to pay money for resources that you can probably find for free anyway. Find a different app that already does everything just faster, cheaper and has a better UI (using this app with iPad isn’t great, phone is to small so not sure what to do about that).

It’s free because there nothing on it!

You can read the core rules for free (which you can already do online) and .... that’s it!

I’ve never downloaded an app that was literally pointless!

Everything else is behind the subscription which is overpriced twofold.

There will be convince when pre purchased codex support is added via codes, but until then it is useless.

They could have made something available for free and delayed the release of this app until it is useful, as for something with nothing on it, it is covered in bugs somehow.

Not iPad Optimised

I was excited for this app when it was announced. I was hopeful that GW could produce something to rival Battlescribe which has is issues, but gets the job done. But as it stands, GW have shown, once again, that they only have the capacity to care about a subsection of a market. Whether it’s constant Marines releases while other factions rot with their 15+ year-old Finecast models, or not optimising their brand new app for a platform that is perfect for this type of app. The iPad has a massive screen for viewing all those stats and rules while playing a game, but this app will only run as an iPhone-sized app and doesn’t support landscape either. Which is a deal breaker for me, as my iPad never leaves it’s Keyboard case and is always in landscape mode.

GW expects a £3.99 a month subscription for this app, which currently does nothing but show you the free rules which are available outside the app and allow you see the contents of existing 8th edition codices, which if you’ve been playing the game at all up to now you probably already own the ones that are relevant to you.

I will not pay £3.99 (especially without a free trial?!) for an app that does not support my preferred platform, or offer anything else that’s useful right now. Sure, the other features are “coming soon”, but is iPad optimisation coming soon?

Not finished.

All you get from this app is a link to a pdf that is free from other sources. Has potential but there is very little there now and other apps do this much better. BattleScribe will remains my go to solution.

At last, it’s here... but what a disappointment

At long last GW have released an App for 40K. Long overdue and long awaited.

But what a disappointment

The app is designed for use on an iPhone and does not scale up for iPad. As a result the rules are unreadable as they are a pdf copy of the books.

If this is what they give us for the free app I won’t be subscribing but stick with paper books.

Come on Games Workshop, you can do better than this

Not bad, needs more features

So off the bat, it’s a decent reference for codexes, and if the army builder is good it’ll become a very handy app.

However, It absolutely needs to have the option to view the full advanced, paid for rules in the app itself. Players have been crying out for a long time for one place for all their rules. The rulebook is definitely part of this!

A game score tracker that includes all the currently available missions would also be a must have.
