Pocket monster

I’ve used Cubase since the early 90s back on the Atari ST and I’ve always had the desktop version. This now resides on my iPad and has been utterly abused. Once I got used to the interface I was set free to capture and create with no major restrictions. Is it perfect? No, for starters I wish I could implement midi learn on plugins as well as track controls (🙏🏼 Steinberg) but, if you want a good old fashioned DAW that’s visually uncluttered and gives you the tools to get really creative then look no further.

The best by far

I have used Cubase since the very first version on Atari and I still use C14 on my laptop. As a smaller sibling to the big one Cubasis does not disappoint. It comes with so much extra stuff I am literally doing full tracks on my iPad mini, and for the price it’s an absolute steal. Don’t even look at the others, this is the real deal.

Pan settings and markers please

Hello again Lars
Fades now perfect ..
Can we have more control with Pan .. for example a window that opens to allow fixed pan settings 25%, 33%, 50%, 75%, 100% .. something like this ..
And.. can we have markers please
Thank you !
Hello Generally v good. I’m running 3.4 on iPad Pro .. yet why so difficult to achieve a fade? I’d prefer to do this from the main tracks without opening the waveform window yet when I do nothing appears easy and intuitive including achieving a fade. Coming to Cubasis3 on iPad Pro from using Digital Performer for years this is disappointing. In addition on an iPad mixer panning isn’t easy to do with some accuracy. Open pan into a separate window perhaps?
Thank you for your reply Lars, I’ve worked it out !
My confusion arose thus : I’m making audio splits in the main tracks section and assumed if I then double clicked on a particular split section to bring up the waveform window I’d then only see my split area but the whole original waveform is displayed so I then have to shuffle through this to find the bars I wish to fade. As you point out The movable Handles in the waveform area define the fade points as I’ve just realised! By the way the handles are a fabulous idea. Be nice also to have some ‘markers’ as feature in Digital Performer yet I appreciate this might over complicate what is a clean uncluttered intuitive design. I rate Cubasis3 v highly indeed and look forward to the next update …

Amazing program

So much fun to kick back and put stuff together with. I’m pretty stunned about how much you can do. The are some wrinkly bits in the piano editor when moving notes around but overall great. I’d love there to be more input options than just the piano role. Maybe something like Ableton push. Also I’d love it to be always recording so you can record a clip. Also markers and an insert space command but these are all nice to haves and I’m sure it will get there in the end. Well done Steinberg. I definitely want more

Seems to have reverted to something different to what I bought.

I’m sure that it used to be possible to use auv3 plugins, but not anymore. My iPad Pro is only 3 years old, is it obsolete?

Awesome for mobile musicians. Not for people who what to use mobile and home though.

So is top notch when it comes to build and functionality apart from the one real downside to the experience. I make just as much on cubase pro 14 as I do on mobile but the two worlds are as separate as can be. Why not just save the projects in a folder that can be accessed by the Mac/ pc and have the files save as a .cpr file like the full computer version? It makes no sense to not be able to move your ideas, midi, automation, recorded tracks or projects straight across from mobile to Mac and vice versa. This is the only real feature that I have been hoping for years now.
Come on steinberg! You have the best daw so let’s get full integration between the two worlds so music can be anywhere at anytime creativity strikes. This has been the reason for 4 stars rather than 5. If we could set an iCloud folder to sync project files and samples this would be a perfect app with all the bells and whistles.

Disappointed by Limited Time Signature Options

I recently downloaded and paid for the Cubase 3 DAW and Music Studio app for my iPad, hoping it would meet my music production needs. Unfortunately, I’ve been extremely disappointed.
The app does not allow me to set a metronome to a 6/8 time signature, which is crucial for the song I’m working on. The metronome is stuck on a 4th bar limit, and I can only use shorter time signatures like 3/4. This completely ruins the flow of my project.
I spent hours trying to find a way around this limitation, but it appears the app simply doesn’t support it. For such a well-known DAW, this is a major oversight. If I had known this before purchasing, I would have chosen a different app.
Until this feature is addressed, I cannot recommend Cubase 3 or Music Studio for anyone needing flexibility with time signatures. I feel like I’ve wasted my money, and I’m now considering alternatives that actually meet basic music production standards.
Pros: Decent interface
Cons: Limited metronome settings, unsuitable for complex time signatures

Hangs on inter app audio

Cannot get this to play with AUM. The second i try to do anything with inter app audio cubase just hangs. It even hangs for a while trying to interact with global iOS features. Very lame. Literally unusable with AUM as far as I can tell.
I’ve got very little open, blank projects, top speed ups… it can only embed cubase.

It cannot do 6/8!!!

The lower number of the time sig is fixed at 4. The upper number only goes up to 7. You cannot change time sig mid track like you can in cubase.
The piano roll editor is very cramped in the bottom third of the screen. I can’t find a way to make it full screen.

Issue with new update

Thanks for updating your app. I’ve used this for years now for all of my official releases but since your latest update and the new function of being able to search for MIDI instruments I have lost all assigned instruments on previous tracks, most of which were unlabelled (which was my own lack of due diligence) but I was never aware that not labelling what the instruments I used would cause an issue in the future, like now. I have too many tracks using SynthMaster One for example, and I cannot recall which instrument I used for each track. The old app used to search automatically for the instrument and there was never a problem. Is there a way you can give the option to those who are like me who are not the greatest when it comes to naming conventions (due to personal creative flow) so that we can have instruments load automatically as they used to?? Otherwise I would have lost so many tracks! Thanks!

Great DAW for iPad

This DAW I find fantastic for songwriting / composing on an iPad. The included and available instruments are useful; I use some of these plus Scaler and imported Lo-fi drum tracks.

Cubasis 3 is THE Ultimate DAW on iOS 🏆

In my opinion Cubasis has led the way for professional DAWs on iOS for over 14 years. The latest v3.6 update together with the inclusion of HALion and Neo FM and FM Classic has made this app unbeatable. Worthy of a ten star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So many bugs

I’ve been using Cubasis on the ipad for years. Cubasis 1 and 2 were great apps that worked really well and were stable. Cubasis 3 is a mess. Its a huge step backwards. Nothing works properly, it constantly crashes, its fiddly and difficult to use. It doesn’t play well with other apps. I could go on and on. What happened Steinberg - why is this such a turkey?

Version 3.5

llogical

Cubasis 3 is only surpassed by Auria Pro when it comes to IOS DAW’s that should have been indispensable top quality apps, but ultimately fell short. Auria Pro due to sheer neglect, Cubasis 3 because Steinberg made poor decisions with regard to features, and shoddy coding. There is no point in listing failings that, by now, have not and will not be fixed. Someone actually designed these lacks of functionality then had the temerity to claim the app was worth a premium price. Such a pity, as the mixer section is a 9/10, and track duplication is a useful feature. But for many, the arrival of Logic Pro on iPad surely means Cubasis is fast tracked to redundancy, a great opportunity squandered. Because Steinberg regards IOS as a marketing excercise, not a market. This is why instead of trying to compete with Logic by making the app competitive, the big update for Cubasis was 4 sound modules, three of them requiring IAP. What a joke.

Disappointing

Waited 10 months for the update that was supposed to be the answer to Logic Pro for iPad. Zero new features just some more stuff to buy. This “update” is an insult to all loyal Cubasis users. I’m not going to wait another year for another update like this. Steinberg has lost me as a customer.

Cubasis 3 time for a professional version

I told you Steinberg. (See my closing sentence below) You no listen.
Two years since my last review of Cubasis 3. Sadly I downgrade this app primarily because of Steinberg / Yamaha failure to recognise the power of the iPad iOS platform by letting this product languish at the entry level status limiting significantly the features enjoyed on the PC and IMac platform. Well, having invested heavily in quality Au3 plugins on the iPad platform a move to PC or IMac would require a massive investment to replicate plugins to the VST format. With the iPad now housing the M1 and M2 processors the IPad has never been closer to the desktop environment than it is now in terms of sheer power. The question is why don’t Steinberg give this platform a more feature rich professional DAW. Is iOS the problem? Clearly not. WaveMachine Labs inc, a relatively small developer produced a superb product in AURIA Pro. Although a little clunky AURIA PRO has an arsenal of audio editing features found only on the desktop environment. If a relatively small independent developer can achieve such an impressive feature Rich DAW then why can’t the likes of Steinberg / Yamaha do the same. I use both Cubasis and Auria Pro but would love to see Cubasis 3 step out of the EDM genre bias and raised to a full feature product with extensive audio editing features in line with its desktop big brother. I would willingly pay the price and enjoy the bonus of using my extensive library of Au3 plugins. Come on Steinberg, bring Cubasis up to a professional level before some other developer beats you to it.

Good but not quite there yet

Does a lot well but has a lot of niggly workflow probs.
Main one is there’s no way to use hardware controls on auv3 parameters if the auv3 doesn’t have midi learn.
Aum and others can do this so why not?

I love it!

Great app for creating and editing MIDI away from the main DAW, it seems to be a bit easier to use than GarageBand for that purpose 👍 I bet it is even better if you use Cubase, start the idea here and then transfer it over. It works great with all those nice AUv3 plugins too. The built in sounds aren’t the best but enough to get started making music and there is plenty to choose from.
Now if only I could get to grips with how automation works in this app 😅

Time signatures?

A DAW that offers a choice 6 time signatures and no means of changing them during the course of a song. And perhaps even worse…can’t change tempo during a song. Even as of version 3.5.
This is a DAW that unfortunately cannot be taken seriously….unless you spend your entire musical creativity knocking out EDM tracks, which is perfectly fine of course, for those who do!

Best of All the DAWs, but Still With Flaws

Would benefit so much from being able to midi map editing, selection, copy/paste, view change functions. Ability to select notes, channels, type of control, midi outputs and being able to assign multiple midi signals to the same function and vice versa would be a game changer work flow wise

Still the go-to DAW

I’ve had Version 2 for ages and, since it went on Summer Sale, I thought ‘why not?’ So far, so good. I’ve only just started with it so I don’t think I’ve discovered all the new bells and whistles.
One thing (and this was the same with V.2): I generally create my music using combinations of my IOS music apps (I have loads). What I still can’t figure out all this time is how to create a tempo-correct drum track using something like Ruismaker, or Pure Acid, or Borsta. When I press ‘record’ I can hear the app making the appropriate tempo-corrected beats. But when I stop the recording there’s nothing there. I don’t want to go the route of using AUM to lay down all my tracks because that’s way too ‘faffy.’
It’s a really simple ask and perhaps I’m totally overlooking something but that’s my one gripe.
That being said, Cubasis retires Auria Pro forever, just in terms of the intuitive nature of assembling tracks.

Cubasis for iOS

I’m not the most tech guy in the world and I can’t afford a pc so I’m my eyes I’d say that Cubasis is a great app for people who may not have access to a pc or just like to be on the go. I use on my iPhone 13s and I can’t find any negatives or cons to not owning this app. It acts as my DAW when I’m at home connected to my Yamaha montage and when I go out for the day I can just connect my headphones and continue my work whilst out about tweaking, making music what ever you like to do the app won’t let you down.
If it isn’t already this should be no.1 App in the store and it definitely doesn’t break the bank when it comes to purchasing so much for so little oh and lots of updates patches and just general aftercare is second to non in my opinion. But that’s just what I think !

Sooo many glitches

Moved to Cubasis 3 about a year ago and I’ve been experiencing sooooo many glitches. Most notably it crashes really often, or won’t play, and the only way to resolve it is to switch the iPad on and off. I was using Cubasis 1 and 2 for live shows for 8 years no problems, really stable. Can’t use Cubasis 3 for live work as it’s so unpredictable. Real shame as I love the programme generally, but the amount of problems I’ve had with it is ridiculous.

Bluetooth sampling playback speed issue.

The Bluetooth sampling playback speed issue the developer queried about to a unhappy consumer does actually happen, sometimes. The way I resolve the issue without having to complain about it to Cubasis 3 developers is by going in to settings and try and change the sampling rate, Cubasis 3 responds with a message saying something like “invalid sampling rate” then Cubasis 3 automatically sets the sampling rate back to what it was prior to me trying to change the setting and then Cubasis 3 starts playing audio back correctly. If the same issue happened again later on in the same session, just go back and change the sampling rate again and Cubasis 3 should start playing audio at the correct rate.

Very good app

So far nothing goes wrong. Works, stable and nice looking. Couple minor bugs - half of the keyboard shortcuts doesn’t work (spacebar included - most useful?!)
Not mouse scrollable media menu, no metal drums really. Even fact of buying it two days before spring sale doesn’t change my opinion. Like this app a lot. If i only could have keyboard shortcuts working…..

stop wasting time- get it NOW

Long time DAW user, new to iPad music production… I was amused with GB and Auria but Cubasis is on a whole other level. Features, functionality and ease of use are amazing. The awesome included instruments and sounds make it easy to compose, explore new territory -and have lots of fun…
The user interface is clean and well laid out and obviously a lot of thought and clever design has gone into it. Overall a very elegant and powerful DAW- I haven’t used Logic 10.7 since I got this, as the workflow is so easy and straight forward.
Wish list: metering at the edge of the track list
Unlimited open inspector tabs, scrollable
Collapsible items in track list/ hide group items
Rotary pop-up send controls (also on channel strips)
More colors!

Perfection!

I’ve been a Cubasis user since 2013, back then it was absolutely amazing and I knew the future would be bright, and I wasn’t wrong. It still blows me away what this application can do, and even more so now I have it on my iPhone. Its impossible to criticise this, or give it any less than 5 stars. It has no rivals! Thank you Steinberg for continuing to be a leading edge software company, and to add another “first” to your company history by giving us smartphone users, this, the first, true DAW for a mobile phone.

New update new problems

Bug Update: Freezing tracks is totally broken. The audio you get is a stuttery mess.
The new update brings midi stretching and Ableton push. Though both are quite large features and greatly appreciated, I was hoping for a little more from a major update. I’m having strange glitching effects with the metronome and sometimes with just playing my track. It sounds like interference or something, beeps and scratches that are quite loud. Nothing about my setup has changed and I checked with just headphones, still there, though not that frequent. When playing a track, I’ve also noticed a small glitch that happens between clips. I’m sure I’ll find more bugs as I go, but the performance seems to be better overall. I’m happy overall with cubasis 3 and I hope it keeps getting updated with new features and bug fixes.

Too many issues.

I’ve had Cubasis 2 for years, used on various iPads, with hardly any issues. I recently purchased Cubasis 3 while the sale was on, and so glad I didn’t pay full price. I have also updated it to latest Cubasis 3.4. Cubasis 3 has so many issues. I use iPad 11 pro and iPhone 13 pro max. Haven’t used it on the iPhone yet, but on iPad it constantly crashes during recordings. And now it has started playing back recordings at really slow distorted speeds! Really frustrating. Tried so many obvious solutions, restarts, iPad restart etc etc. Sometimes it plays back normal speed then other times it switches back to slow distorted speeds. I’ve never played around with speed settings, tempo etc, just left everything as default. I use Audiobus 3 to set up Cubabsis with recordings. Always starts of great, then once you get going adding more instruments or sounds, it either stops dead or crashes off screen. Think I’ll go back to using Cubasis 2 until Steinberg can sort these bugs out. I’ve read through various forums that there are a lot of issues with Cubasis 3. Seems a lot more work needed to go into this before it’s released.
There are constant complaints of Cubasis 3 crashing in different scenarios. Steinberg should not be releasing it without fully testing. Tried everything you suggested and checked on forums. These crashes are constant. I’m giving up on Cubasis 3 and applying for a refund. Wasting too much time trying to resolve different types of crashes.

Cool iPhone application

I would like you to know before I open any application on my device after downloading, I shutdown my device! I believe this is important for the reason should any app be running in the background plus it sets the application up correctly. I watched the video tutorials firstly before recording, so I became more familiar with Cabasis 3. As of February 14 2022 there was 50% off the studio and in the in app purchases, So I took full advantage of that situation. I’m glad I downloaded it’s the best studio on my iPhone 7 by far. I’ve recorded 8 tracks using midi, line in and using apps which would pickup in the studio. I would recommend this application and rate it 5 stars due to quality of recording on a iPhone 📱 Thanks developer for the 50% sale price so appreciated by Okmanok.

Crashes even more

I got this last year and every once in a while it would crash. Now since the last update, I can’t even make it one minute in a project without it crashing. I’m running it on a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9, with all the most recent updates for iOS 15.

Pretty crap

Zoom behaviour on a 20 track import, 40m long, is trash. Takes ages. Very glitchy. Random "grab and move" events when you didn’t intend it can put tracks out of sync with no easy way diagnose. Refunding. Garbage.

It works…

Won’t open properly, all media gone. Followed the instructions from Lars and it’s back again, but pretty frustrating. Beyond that it’s good but the UI and workflow are not as good as some.

Lovin’ this

I migrated to Cubasis from Auria after a long struggle with my attachment. I have been so pleased with the decision. Cubasis does pretty much everything I need - (couple of wishes see below). It seems really reliable, handles audio and midi with ease. Loving the UI which makes the workflow a breeze and the way it integrates with AUv3 and even IAA is terrific. On the Mac I am a Presonus Studio One fan but for the iPad, Cubasis absolutely does it for me.
A couple of things I would really like…
More time signature options is an absolute must. Being limited to x/4 is really a drawback for those of us who do a load in 6/8 (3/4 is not really an OK compromise).
A chord track and an arrangement track would be fab.
More intuitive comping of multiple takes would be helpful (although I may have missed something) and could we please have macros and a more comprehensive midi learn.

Metronome Woes

How can a metronome not work? I’ve used Cubasis 2LE and the metronome works like a metronome. On Cubasis 3 on an IPad Pro it seems to record the metronome on a hidden track. You can’t erase it. It might play 2,3,4 beeps for every beat. It plays when it is supposedly disabled. It plays when disabled and the transport is idle. It doesn’t play when you want it to.
Apart from that the product might be okay, but I’ve gone back to Cubasis 2LE until I find out what is going on. If I don’t find out soon I will be asking for a refund.

Bravo Steinberg!

Completely intuitive to use, and a good amount of useful features. Well thought out for touch screen use also. Flexible export options to get your work on to other platforms.
No crashes so far on a 2021 iPad Pro and I’m happy with the performance. This is my first version of Cubasis and I’m definitely impressed.

The best mobile DAW

Finally updated from version 2 and this is better than I thought. What I have always liked about this app is that it is so well designed. You can stay in creative mindset without getting confused with how it works or navigating through lots of screens. Every feature they add seems to have a lot of thought put into making it simple to use but equally powerful. For example the group tracks and side-chaining are so quick and easy to set up. The AUv3 multi out support is excellent, being apple to process each output and then simply add them to a group for a final processing. Awesome.
There are lots of other features that make even even more of a pleasure to use.
Thank you Cubasis team 🙏 😊

Browser in app… unusable

Browser in app… backspace on keyboard goes back even if you’re typing in the email address field, so you can’t correct typing errors. Can’t type my email address in to register for free pack because L controls the DAW and does not type in the field lol. 4 stars just to match the existing rating

Great but need the shortcuts & extra features used for desktop…

I made the move from MacOS using Logic Pro X to iOS Music Production as I love the portability and the flexibility iOS has for creatives.
However, the main issue I have with this DAW (Even though it’s the best DAW you can use currently on the App Store) I hate the clunkiness of the mouse/trackpad and keyboard support such as - pressing down to scroll up and down the project view, the slow lag of pinch to zoom, not being able to drag tracks up and down the project to keep things organised and easy to navigate, placing markers for the structure of a song and some audio recordings occasionally can’t be heard which results in shutting down and reopening the DAW. Also the occasional crash here and there which is extremely frustrating…
These are things that I would wish to be fixed for this DAW as i think it has so much potential to be an amazing music making application and could be a great competition with Logic Pro X on MacOS.

Best app there have had. iPhone I do have this on my iPad but I’m not really into ios music making anymore or even lap top I own a stand alone machine now but for ideas it’s the best app out there for ideas 💡 plus the north wave plugins make it really good for prepping samples if you are talented enough I think you could master a song full stars to steinberg!!!!!

I sooo wanted this to be THE app to make music with, but……

So, after a lot of research, I decided to purchase today. For about 10 mins, absolutely fine. Then it started to lock up. Multiple times. Had to restart the app every time. On Air IPad 3, using MPD218 controller for drums. So with a heavy heart, I’ve requested a refund. I’ve decided it’s not for me…..yet. Stop it locking up, I’ll be back like a shot. Sooo disappointed, as it’s a well thought out app, but that ruins it for me if I can’t get a simple loop programmed in…..😩😩😩

Fantastic app

Cubasis 3.3 is amazing. I am finding it rock solid, and the feature set is in a class of its own, especially for people coming from a desktop DAW background. It’s also good to experience the commitment of a company of Steinberg’s size regularly improving and developing the app, and adding more features.

Cubasis 3 Awesomeness

Yea you probably use garageband on you iPad or phone. I love steinberg with all I am! The tonality you get out of this, even for mastering your garageband is worth the cash alone. Don’t mess around, if you want your music sounding awesome, get it and all of the plugins. It will take you to the next level. Brilliant Mini Daw with more more more daw!

Crash crash crash

I’ve bought cubasis 3 and on my iPhone 12 crashes continuously. After few weeks I’ve bought an iPad air 2020, thinking to solve the problem....NO! I don’t know if I am unlucky or what but I use just 2 tracks, one for the instrumental song and one for my voice, audio interface. Well every 3 or 4 taps, anywhere random, the app crashes and I loose everything. I already tried to reboot as you suggest to everyone and even with the only iPad it crashes. I would give 5 star but for now it’s unusable. Support team please help!!!
UPDATE!!!
Your solution did not work. I have reinstalled the app and this time I didn’t use the function “Duplicate project” to copy same settings in an other one. Since that moment I never had a crash!
Also previously, when I made a change to the duplicated project, the original one took some random changes as well, messing everything.
Now yes, 5 Stars! But please fix that issue.

Fantastic but feel robbed a little

I bought this today and it really is great but unfortunately when I typed in Cubasis into the store it showed me Cubasis 2. Now I have purchased both today with no use for Cubasis 2. Can you please help? Thank you.

COMPROMISED

I’ve used CUBASIS from day one with producing all my music and over the years this software has been Excellent for stability and creativity, BUT, CUBASIS 3 has compromised itself I think. They have chosen pretty visual looks over actual music performance. SYNTHERSIZERS are now glitchy and buggy. I cannot create on this new platform as it cannot keep up with Cubasis 2. I will be returning to Cubasis to create my music as unfortunately it is actually better! My hope is Steinberg will sort this out as this software is not progress. If your a serious music creator then this software cannot keep up. Yes I have adjusted parameters to assist but there is a real systematic problem with this. Shame as I was really hoping to get to grips with this new version, sorry but it will be another deleted app.

Still unreliable on iPad Pro (2016]

I have an iPad Pro (2016). iOS 14.2 and it just isn’t stable. Timing goes off, time stretch goes off, unreliable quantise ,glitching , inter apps crashing , crashes during mixdowns and cpu overload during recording
I have had Cubasis 2 for years and the problems were ironed out over the years. I understand Cubasis 3 was developed from ground up but after months and some updates it’s still unreliable ,feels unfinished and I can’t trust it. Maybe my iPad Pro is too old for it.

Chord Pads do not work on connected midi keyboard?

The one main thing I wanted Cubasis 3 to do was have the ability to play the Chord Pads from my connected midi keyboard to my IPad Pro. It does not seem to do this. You can only play the pads from the IPad touch screen whilst you are restricted to playing single notes or manually fingering a full chord on midi keyboard. This for me is a real pain. I believe you could do this in Cubasis 2, if so why downgrade it’s most useful feature? I hope this is going to be fixed in future update without Steinberg declaring another re-write making you pay full price again.

Getting better

I still experience some strange crashes and sound dropouts that don't resolve until you restart the app, but credit where it's due - this software is getting much better and I've finally started using it as my main DAW. What it does, it does really well, and usability is much better now.

Solo and mute buttons

I am mostly really enjoying the working environment bar a couple of points. Firstly, when you have a lot of tracks and need to reduce their size to see them all, you lose the SOLO and MUTE buttons on each track. This makes switching quickly to hear different tracks slow and reduces work flow. Secondly, is it possible in a future update to increase the track height but keep the track that you are making larger stay on screen rather than it drifting down the screen? Overall I really enjoy the Cubasis experience but due to a limited screen size even on the IPad Pro, the tracks would benefit from givingas much info as possible whatever the track height. Also thanks for the many other features which work very well.

Finally!

Having used Cubasis 2 with great results in the past, I was somewhat dismayed by how buggy Cubasis 3 was on release and had my payment refunded. With the 3.1 release I’ve bought it once again and am very pleased with performance now. The Master Strip is an added bonus. Loving it!
One wish is that a future release will allow dragging/scrolling with magic keyboard touchpad and stop/start with space bar.

Registration

Bought on from App Store onto new iPad Air 3. Not sure if I have register it anywhere. Also never used a DAW before so struggling to get started. Not sure where best info / tutorial is to be found. At 66 I’m not totally tech savvy so need some help. It looks what I want so 4 stars but just struggling post purchase. Please need some help.

Need to sort out bugs

Been using Cubasis2 on IPad Pro with plenty of memory space for around 3 years and am confident that 3 will improve but there are so many glitches at the moment, from crashing, freezing, delay problems and the selection/cell movement is worse that C2. Please sort this basic stuff out so I can give you 5 stars.

Good but a bit buggy

Good app, can get good results with 3rd party synths and plugins. Seems a bit buggy tho and some areas eg velocity and automation events hard to edit. Needs a better dedicated sampler with more functions, and Bluetooth audio needs work, don’t have glitches and sound pops in any other music apps when using Bluetooth headphones (yes the Bluetooth option is on in audio settings) overall a good start though in time this could become a serious producers tool

Loving it

After an initial grumble regarding the transfer of my existing plugins from version 2 to 3, I am now up and running. Don’t uninstall version 2 until after you have installed version 3!! Excellent redesign. Everything, where it should be for a streamlined and refreshed recording and editing experience. I travel a lot and Cubasis always travels with me.

All Good

I’ve been using Cubasis 3, on my iPad 4 mini and iPhone 11 Pro-Max, for around two weeks now and I must say that I’ve not encountered any issues.
I’m recording both audio and midi from my Kronos 2 via a camera connection and USB. Cubasis 3 is by far a more user friendly sequencer/DAW.
The ability to work on my ideas away from my Kronos and on my iPhone is truly amazing.
I’ve also noticed Cubasis uses very little battery power in comparison to other IOS DAWS.
I look forward to future updates and new plugins.
Keep up the good work guys.

Very good but some bugs

I decided to upgrade to Cubasis from GarageBand as I needed more features and a more professional workflow. Overall I’m very impressed. There’s still plenty of features I haven’t got round to trying yet but I’m looking forward to that.
A small number of bugs:
- When using Bluetooth headphones on my 2018 iPad Pro running the latest iPadOS, the whole app seems to play back projects at a lower speed and pitch that sounds nothing like the music I wrote. Disconnect the Bluetooth headphones and the problem disappears. My headphones are Sony WH-1000XM3.
- Apple Pencil is working although I think someone has already reported this
I would appreciate it if these bugs were rectified with an app update please.
Thank you!

Soo gooddd!!

I’ve been a cubasis user since cubasis 2 was released, and I’ve gotta say there have been major improvements in the development of the cubasis app. It’s even great that it has been released on mobile, a request that has been pending for quite some time. Cubasis 3 has gotta be my most favourite DAW yet! Thanks Lars for some help in your Steinberg forums.
Just a quick question, I had cubasis 2 on my old iPad (doesn’t run iOS 13) with some in-app purchases, and now I have cubasis 3 on my mobile phone. Is there a way to restore purchases on a separate device under the same account?

Number One iOS DAW

Cubasis keeps getting better and better. It’s the only DAW on iOS made by one of the big players in the industry; it’s updated regularly (usually for free) and the difference is clear. Only NanoStudio 2 comes close, but that one still lacks a few features.
Good job on the new version. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store next.

Thanks to Lars and the whole Cubasis team

Thanks very much for the new app.
We can finally glue audio files, group tracks, edit midi with precision, manage files easily and lots more..
Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this app.
Still the best looking app hands down
