My Fender Play experience
The song lessons aren’t good because there are only three different difficulties. I have a tabs app that is more useful if I’m honest (plus it’s free), and when I play the tabs from this other app it actually sounds like the original song. However the exercises are useful, but I still think it was a waste of my money to be honest. £40 would be acceptable but £80 is overpriced because Fender doesn’t deliver. This app is more for beginners than those who’ve played guitar for a couple or few years, and I wouldn’t recommend it. To be honest, Fender should just stick to producing guitars.

Great fun but lacking Tabs
This app is great fun to learn the guitar but what I find a weakness in comparison to other learning apps is that there are no tabs for the songs you are learning so it is hard to learn a song just by repeating what the video shows. After having seen the video it would be helpful to practice with some written down tabs and lyrics to the songs.
Another thing is that the app does not listen back to what you are playing- it would be great to have a practice mode in which the app listens back.
Allover I don’t know whether I will subscribe after the 14 day trial or switch to another App.

Started the free trial to which it then automatically sign’s you up for a years subscription - around £80 , absolute scam and a con, i prefer to learn off youtube anyway. Ive been charged for a app that i trailed and hated!

Awesome But ...
Have learnt some amazing songs and the instructors with their videos are awesome! So basic but yet so thorough. My only gripe ... I have an acoustic but having real difficulty trying to locate acoustic videos only. Is there a toggle button somewhere I can seperate electric guitar learning from acoustic learning?

Awesome app!
I’m a complete rank beginner with a guitar, I played drums in high school but that was longer than I care to admit ago!
I bought a cheap second hand electric guitar and an amp and downloaded this app, I’m about a week in and I’m playing along with different tracks, I can read tab and chord charts.
I’m still getting to grips with transitioning through chords and such but that’s my own coordination!
This app is great 10/10 👍🏻

Very Poor
Very poor app, lessons are very short and some of them feel rushed and don’t go fully over things, also I was 1 week into my 2 week free trial and they took £89 out of my account for the year, even though i was still within my free trial period, tried contacting iTunes and FenderPlay and I’ve just been ignored...

Better than alternatives
Don’t let a bad review put you off, it’s better than a majority of lessons on YouTube and far better than guitar tabs.
The price is a big turn off for some although it’s a fraction of the price for tangible lessons, Great opportunity to extend on what you know and is the future of learning guitar.

It works.
I’ve been dabbling on and off with the guitar for years, never really making much progress and eventually shelving it. Again.
Within the first five lessons I’d picked up on the main thing that’s been holding me back: thumb position. Previously I’d been gripping the neck like a barbell and that lesson alone was worth the first months’ subscription. No book, app or teacher I’d used before had ever mentioned the thumb.
Give it a go.

Beginners
Got myself a guitar a few weeks ago and never lifted 1 in my life , this app has really helped me learn what i thought was impossible. Guitar isn’t easy but this fender app really helps 💯

Good but terrible loading times
I’m really learning as an absolute beginner with this app which is great. The massive frustration however is the time it takes to load videos and buffer. I don’t have a bad WiFi connection but buffering is so temperamental I don’t dare interrupt a video once it gets going as I then have to sit there and wait for it to buffer again.

A new guitarists dream
I am 50 years old and picked up the guitar for the first time a couple weeks ago, I have had two lessons with my new guitar teacher but that is only an hour a week ( costs a fortune) so looked on line fo some more help, I was then recommended Fender Play and as I bought a new Fender guitar I thought why not it’s only £9.99 a month and I can use it anytime.
God I’m so glad I took the plunge,Fender play takes you from the very beginning to more advanced at your own pace and the tutors are patient as you can go back and forward as many times as you like and there will be no sighs or eye rolls if you can’t quite get it.
I have chose the Rock path and acoustic as my starting point but there are many other paths you can take to suit yourself.
I am loving Fender play and know it will be with me for years as I (slowly) improve.
Take the plunge don’t wait or let others put you off finding the guitar and playing is the one thing I wish I had done decades ago.

An old new boy
So glad I’ve revisited guitar playing at 71. Tinkered in my teens but didn’t practice and was terribly lazy.
Bought myself a second hand acoustic metal strung guitar.
Am starting from scratch again ie lesson one onwards and doing ok.
Really pleased I bought the fender online guitars tuition course and the fender online guitar tuner.
Hopefully I’ve learned a little more discipline. So far so good for me and I’m quite encouraged at the progress I am making.
Good simple advice and easy to follow instructions.
Best of luck to all beginners out there.
Don’t wait until your 71.

Scam, stay away!
Scam. Downloaded this app to see what it was like. Was OK, deleted after a few days as I found it wasn’t all that good, two weeks later I come to find that they have been trying to take £89.99 out of my bank everyday!! Seriously not happy, stay away from this app as they will just try steal your money.

Simply amazing
Can rate this app highly enough. Easy and clear tuition that’s affordable. Yeah, ok you’re not going to get feedback, but unless you pay top dollar for an instructor, this app is 100% the way forward.

Tutorial was a guying playing a tune you recognise ... then the lesson was a guy doing basic up down strums .... rubbish... could not work out how to get help..

I’m really happy!
My new Fender gear arrived today! I’m using Fender’s own CD-60s acoustic guitar alongside Fender Play and it’s super easy to follow. I’ve been meaning to learn how to play the guitar for a bit now, but always put it on the back burner, as I was unable to find a tutorial that was accessible. In less than a few hours I have learnt how to hold, tune and place each of the six notes of the guitar - E, B, G, D, A, E, and I can even play the chords for “Down by the riverside.”
Although, I’m still working on my finger dexterity with the frets. But that will come in time!
I really recommend subscribing to Fender Play, as it is extremely easy to use, and for achieving all that in just a few hours (with no previous guitar experience...), I’m over the moon.
Stop searching, start learning!

Not free, can’t play without subscription
Waste of time, they put it as free with in app purchases but when you download you can’t do a thing without paying monthly. Don’t see why they wouldn’t just have it as a subscription on the App Store instead of wasting people’s time by saying its free and having them download an app just to find out they can’t use it without paying money. If your reading this download Yousician instead, it’s free, easy and they won’t have you downloading an app for the sake of it.

Loving the bite-sized approach
I regard myself to be a sort-of intermediate player, but I’m enjoying my journey through the basics again, and I’m learning a bunch of new stuff along the way too. The bite-sized chunks really do make it possible to take a lesson anywhere, any time, and the community is super-supportive and encouraging. It’s been a great way for me to regain some lost motivation, and to start finding my own style. Highly recommended.

Nice little app
I’ve been playing guitar for years and was self taught. Haven’t played in a while and noticed I was rusty compared to how I used to play.
Was looking for some guitar tuition and this app popped up as an ad on YouTube. Thought I’d give the trial a go and to be honest I’m enjoying it. Some of the basics I’m already quite proficient but some of the more music theory related, technical aspects and exercises have helped me already become a better player.
It’s nice to be playing guitar again, especially after a bad working day.
Learnt so much and already feel like I’ve improved.
The Fender tuner app is also used frequently to tune my guitar as it’s been incredibly accurate.

Not impressed
Signed in for a free trial, and it kept crashing. When it did work, what was on video wasn’t aligned with what was depicted in the chords, and there’s no sheet music nor lyrics to the popular songs, nor is there much range to learn from. Overall, I expected a lot more from Fender - your app is not up to standard. I’ve since cancelled the free trial within 15 mins and I certainly hope I have not been charged for it!

I haven’t really tried the app, but there didn’t seem to be much option but to try the free week.
What quickly becomes apparent is that money will be debited via your apple account. I’m fairly sure I’ve cancelled it, but I do find it a little underhand.

Payment issues again
Gave the app a try, wasn’t for me as I didn’t have the time to dedicate to it and get my £8.99 worth out of it. Cancelled the subscription to find that it’s been taken twice now even though it was cancelled well before renewal date. Hassle now trying to get refund from Apple for the first cancelled payment to find they have gone and taken it again. Not happy 😡
