You have to pay for this

You have to pay a lot of money, for what is an incredibly basic notes app....

Version 1.5.5
2019-04-08

All style and no substance

No denying it looks great, but that’s about it. It’s buggy, lacks functionality and the basics that it does have don’t work: sloooooooow performance, duplicate tasks appearing, no ‘bulk’ actions like archive or purge (have to do it task by slowly refreshing task), poor date handling, the app hangs, it takes MULTIPLE steps to add a task (no shortcuts), minimal filtering, no desktop integration.... Out of frustration I’ve just switched to a free app and it’s a much more professional offering. I’m really surprised that Moleskine have released something commercially that feels very much like a ‘first draft’.

ALMOST there

We’re always on the hunt for the perfect app and this one almost had it, I like the integration with Timepage but I would rather the subscription be across both apps even if it’s a little more expensive. 1 price covering the extend of this suite or different tariffs.
Also I find the logbook tab a little pointless because it only shows what you’ve already done, I would love for it to show what’s actually on my to do list all in one (including the other card ones) whilst the other tab shows them on particular days.
Also as far as ux goes, having the settings button on the left but then appear on the right it’s a little weird on the brain, please switch the card button and settings around and have them animate from the side they've been tapped from.
I hope this is productive feedback, really enjoy the app otherwise, specially the Apple Watch integration, just needs a few small tweaks and changes and no doubt it will be better.

Not worth it

I don’t usually write reviews on apps but I had to say this was a rubbish app. Within the space of two days of using it, it wouldn’t let me create a new reminder and instead popped up saying you had to pay to write another one. I was very unhappy at this point as I had only just started using the app and it had been made really unclear of any in app purchases. I personally thought it was free. I would understand if they were asking for a payment at the end of a month but two days is way to early to be asking for money from someone who’s barley used the app.

Clarity needed as being subscription based trial

Clarity needed as being subscription based trial. Luckily I happened to noice while exploring. After 7 Days the app goes read-only with a hefty subscription fee. That’s fine, only make it obvious vs SURPRISE!!!! : /

Huge privacy concerns. Also a rip-off

Pretty much the first thing you should do before downloading any app these days is check the privacy policy. Look at Moleskine Actions in the app store on your device and guess what? The privacy policy isn't hyperlinked. So you can't click on it or copy the text into a browser. Instead, you have to manually type the entire URL. It's almost like they don't want you to read it, huh?
So let me help you out. This app wants to read all of your cookies. It will continuously access your approximate location, without you knowing. It will read your calendar and it wants access to all of your contacts. It takes your device ID, and it knows your full name. It knows your email address. And every single thing you type into this app will be known, read and shared by Moleskine.
This is horrific.
Also this app is a direct rip-off of Realmac's Clear ToDos, which had been around for 5-6 years and is way better than this app.
AVOID IF YOU VALUE YOUR PRIVACY.

Justify the subscription cost before charging it

I have had this app for a while but it fell into the forgotten pile. I recently saw it featured and thought I would giv it another look to see it it now fit my needs.
Create list, give us money.
Hang on, I want to know if the reason it didn’t suit my requirements has gone away in the version upgrades since I started using it.
I can’t even create a list, add a couple of things to it, move a couple of things around to see how the app handles what it now promises? Nope, money or nothing.
I didn’t need to use the app, just enough play to justify spending an on-going subscription cost that would be fine if it solved my needs.
It is a shame that apps no longer have to function before in-app fees are demanded.
You lost me and any future recommendations.

Too buggy for me

The syncing between iPhone and iPad just didn’t work very well and I tried using for about an hour. So having these problems in such a short time is very poor. Would just be frustrating to use. Looks very nice but that’s not enough I’m afraid.

Simple and Colourful

I’m a confirmed list writer and didn’t think this could exceed using notepad lists. But it does!
I haven’t really got to grips with the complexities. But I’ve found using one list and simply putting everything into it works fine for my needs.
It’s the ease of access and manipulation, as well as the Jolly colours that do it for me.

Not enough

I want to like this app but I’m afraid it doesn’t do enough to justify a subscription. Not taking bells & whistles just a few more refinements. Subscriptions are a shameful money grab for any app that doesn’t deliver value. Imagine paying £10 plus per year for all your installed apps! You would quickly cancel all but the worthy.

Love it!

I’ve been looking for a good looking, easy to use To Do app that lets you schedule task and create lists. This one is by far the best one, despite the fact I need to pay £10 for the year - it’s totally worth it.

Simple, pleasing, useful and buggy

Moleskine devs, thank you for this lovely lovely app. I use it every day. I love the subtle things that make it really pleasing to use - the little noises, the swiping, it all adds to the reward and sense of completion . Here comes the however - it’s buggy as anything: duplicate and triplicate versions of a task added at once, a lot of crashes (almost daily), sometimes a very slow load, or only loads tasks not in lists, can’t add to list, can’t switch a task from one list to another. Please - before any more of these misguided Siri features (really, who is asking for Siri features?) - nail down this core functionality. Yours lovingly, Harry.

Very nice

I have to give top marks for presentation and function as a clean simple action/reminder app. A great replacement for Apple reminders, although the lack of location based reminders and a Mac version means I will have to hold off my subscription. Look forward to more developments and will be signing up as soon as it can fully replace reminders on iOS and Mac.

Duped into thinking it was free

I was duped into downloading this as there was no or no obvious mention of you having to pay for a subscription.

Version 1.3.2
2018-10-05

Confused

I can see a lot of effort has gone into this App but seriously do I really need to pay £11 a year to keep track of tasks. So it secures a revenue stream, funds more development, sure. But how much more functionality is necessary, what else does a task tracking tool really need. Guess I’m just not a fan of a subscription model for Apps like this.

Excellent

Since the update the app works really well and is so useful. It's easy to use and will get better hopefully with future updates. One of the best and best looking to do list apps out there.

Version 1.3.1

Broken since last update. (Again)

I've contacted the Devs twice with no reply. When you add items to your list, they suddenly start moving all around and then they disappear permanently. No one can use it when it's like this and it has been for days.
This is third time in a few months that's there's been major issues. I need to get another app (one that works) so I want my money back.

Version 1.2.7
2018-09-03

Good but has annoying editing bugs

It’s a gorgeous app, and integrates nicely with the amazing calendar app. But typing into the title, or the notes field, of an action is very tricky, and requires great vigilance. I find that many words simply disappear after they’ve been typed, and that when typing a number you often need to do it several times before it is accepted and doesn't just vanish! When making extensive notes this becomes a chore, rather than a pleasure.
Jim Spriggs
Version 1.2.5

Needs more stand out features

It’s a bit to similar to the default reminders app to be completely worth £11 a year
Hamish00111
Version 1.2.5
2018-06-28

Very limited

I can list what I need to do, but it’s not very good at reminding me of what I need to do, and if I forget doesn’t do anything about it (like remind me again) Plus it requires an expensive subscription. Had it a month. Didn’t get much use out of it. Deleted it.

Version 1.2.3
2018-06-28

Certainly my favourite app of this type, but...

It’d be great if an action gets automatically moved to the next day if nothing is done to it. Perhaps this is a function but it’s not clear to me on the scheduling page.
Also that scheduling page takes some getting rid of! Would be nice to just swipe it away in one single gesture.
Otherwise very attractive as you’d expect from Moleskine with generally excellent functionality.

Great app except...

A fanatic app and I’d love to use it full time but it never seems to send notifications which is what I rely on. I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling but no luck. If notifications worked it would be 5 stars and subscription to their prime service :(

Good scheduling apps

I am currently using actions and Timepages. I enjoy using both and both are a real aid to get myself more organised.
The integration between the two apps is also a big help so I can schedule actions from todo lists in my daily life as well as make sure I have time for daily tasks that often get taken for granted.
I would like the integration to go further though. One frustration is scheduling an action for a particular day but on timepages not being able to schedule it for a particular time on that day.
I also think other ways of visualising my time would be useful. In the same way as we visualise our calendar as a sequence of days, I would like to visualise my day as a sequence of hours, with scheduled activities marked on it. In this way I can easily see gaps in my day and possibly schedule other tasks in.
Again I do like these apps, but I would like to have the two above suggestions implemented into timepages. It is possible I am missing somethings the apps offer and so any response to the above would be useful. Thanks.

It's all in the details

There are so many tiny details that make this and timeline so perfectly polished. The colours. The sounds. The simplicity of the gestures.
It really makes serial task ignoring difficult!
My only wish is that there would be a Mac app version for both actions and timeline.
Fingers crossed!

Version 1.2.2
2018-05-22

Limited

Lovely looking as you’d expect from Moleskine. For me, it’s of limited use since there is only a calendar view for scheduled items or a list by list view of items. I need a view for ‘today’, ‘tomorrow’, ‘in the future’. There IS a reason all other apps do it this way. A calendar can’t capture unscheduled items and the only alternative of viewing every list by list risks me missing things. I’ll stick with Any.do for now but keep checking back for improved functionality here.

Fabulous developer support

After a recent update, a new feature wasn’t working for me. Turns out the issue was not with Actions but with my email client, Airmail. I really appreciate the response, feedback and fix.

Functions need ironing out

Good looking app and first off seems very user friendly however .... had it for about 2 weeks and then the functionality issues start to become apparent. When you set up with all your colour coded lists seems great but then trying to do something simple like confirming a new action can become extremely irritating in that you have to keep hitting the tiny little tick and nothing happens then suddenly you get 2 inputs at once and have to delete one. When this happens repeatedly it just becomes too annoying to bear. If it is because my phone is to old/slow (iPhone 6s plus) then maybe there should be some notice (but then you wouldn’t buy it?).
When you can get free apps that do the job more efficiently than this one it’s hard to justify the cost I’m afraid!.
