Description
Application to mirror the screen of your iPhone or iPad to any Sony Smart TV. No wires and no additional hardware needed! You can mirror any app on your iPhone or iPad to your Sony TV.
This works on any Sony Smart TV from the 2012 models onward.
In using the app, there will be a couple of seconds of latency (usually between 1 and 3). So this mirroring is not suitable for gaming.
However, it is very suitable for watching movies, giving presentations, watching photos, and much more!
How the app works:
1. Make sure that your iPhone or iPad is connected to the same local network as your Sony TV. Don't use multiple VLANs, a VPN or subnets.
2. Launch the Mirror for Sony TV app. It will start looking for your Sony TV(s) on your local network. When a TV is found, please select it. When you use this app for the first time, depending on your model Sony TV, the TV might ask you to "allow" the connection. In that case, take your TV Remote Control and press OK to allow the connection from your TV to your iPhone or iPad.
3. Turn on notifications for this app. We will not spam you, but we will use this to let you know if your TV is working correctly or not. So please, please allow it, otherwise when things don't work as they should, you are left in the dark.
4. Click on Start Mirroring to start mirroring on the TV that is currently selected. After that, you can just go to any other app on your iPhone or iPad and the mirroring just continues to run.
5. To stop mirroring, there are two options. (1) click on the red top bar that you will see on your iPhone or iPad. (2) Go to the Mirror for Sony TV app and click on Stop Mirroring.
Limitations and known issues:
DRM
Some apps block Screen Mirroring. This means that application developers can choose themselves if they want to block Screen Mirroring. For instance, Netflix, Disney and AppleTV+ have decided to block this.
There is a simple test that you can do to see if the app that you want to mirror has blocked Screen Mirroring:
Open that particular app and slide up Control Center on your iPhone/iPad. Then, click on Screen Recording and start recording the screen to your Camera Roll. Watch the app that you want to mirror and at some point stop the screen recording. Then go to your Photos app and watch the video that was recorded. If the recorded video shows the app you want to mirror, it works fine. If the video is empty, then the app you want to mirror does not allow Screen Mirroring.
About Screen Recording and Privacy
Even though there are notifications about Screen Recording, we don't record your screen into files and we don't send any content to a server. We only temporarily store data in memory, before it is streamed to TV. Upon streaming, the content is removed from memory.

Completely unsuitable for streaming and unable to contact customer service.
Won’t work with any streaming service as they are all disabled for screen recording which is how this app works. It’s also a total privacy nightmare as will record anything on your screen. This shouldn’t even be in the App Store. Also I am not on Facebook so I can’t contact support to request a refund so if I could leave another one star review for that I would. Awful please refund me.

Mirror app for Sony tv
As a computer illiterate, I really struggled setting up the app.
The techhnical support were extremely helpful and after following their easy to follow instructions , the app proves to be excellent for everything we need.

Completely useless does not stream Apple TV
This simply projects your phone screen onto the TV, no scaling, really not a good format for watching TV! The worst bit, Apple YV will not project anything because of licensing issues. All you see is a black phone screen on your TV. So I am not sure what the use of this app is. Waste of money for me.

Fantastic app
We were struggling to get our Sony Bravia TV to connect with my iPhone XR. We contacted the app support team and they helped us sort the issue, so that the TV now mirrors my iPhone. Very impressed with their fast response and their helpful knowledge. Would definitely recommend this app.

App upgrade - disaster
This app worked 100% ok until I did yesterday’s upgrade. It now stops the mirroring regularly after a few minutes and is therefore completely unusable. Very disappointing

Does what it says on the tin
Despite all the struggles I had trying to find something to screen mirror to my Sony TV akin to AirPlay, this app was the answer. It effortlessly find the television and streams to it, just as you would expect - with a nice streamlined and easy to use interface. The only down sides at the moment is the quality is less than HD (on our television at the moment anyway, with the TV connected via Ethernet and the phone wireless about 1m from the router) and there is quite a lag - but for what we want, it does the job far better than I expected and from anything else I’ve seen so far!

Very disappointing. Can only play videos for a couple of minutes and then stops working. Poor purchase.

Mirror Sony
Works like a gem but there have been occasions when it disconnects and it does reconnect but after allowing it a couple of minutes break. Not sure why that is, could be the Wi-fi or a glitch but I am sure an update will be released soon. But on the whole it’s really useful.

It actually worked! Was a bit dubious about paying a fiver to stream content but was surprised when it actually worked. The quality isn’t amazing but I can totally live with that! Recommend!

Useless other than for photos
You would think for the price the app would be able to cope with video, it really struggles. Everything is pixelated and it is lagging 9 seconds behind. I read all the reviews below and stupidly still went ahead with it as the developers seem to be blaming connection speeds and routers and our internet is great (we are right next to the exchange and we have a great router). The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is that it worked first time and you could use it to show photos if you wanted to. I am expecting a developer response asking for diagnostics. I can’t see how you are going to fix it. This is a pretty scummy setup as so many people below are highlighting the exact same issues. Shame on you, charge less and you might have some happy customers.

Getting Zoom app to work on Tv
I ordered this app & not being very technical minded, I needed assistance getting it to work. I spoke with the diagnostic team via fb messenger and could not fault the assistance I received. Lapse in timing
Just downloaded and really big time lag when you connect.....so when you want to use your TV to show video calls, it doesn’t work well at all

Really easy
Being in isolation and having to do workouts from my phone screen was difficult. Found this app and I was a bit concerned with some of the review because of the price I was paying for it but it hasn't disappointed. Paired with my Sony Bravia straight away, no issues. There is a lag between the phone and the screen but just turn the volume down on the phone, sorted! Well worth it, thank you

Rubbish - not worth the money
Super laggy and loses a significant amount of quality. Won’t stream the likes of Netflix or Disney+. Where other services offer a free app to have the audacity to charge £4.99 for this is dreadful. Come on Sony, please step up to the mark and don’t outsource to someone who doesn’t deliver on your premium brand values.

Really slow, “works” with series stream, definitely doesn’t work with a film I just rented on Apple TV app..... unless someone has a magic fix, don’t waste your money. Was hoping it would work

Great service
Great service from the AirBeam team. I bought the wrong app and could not understand why it did not recognise my tv. I contacted their support service and within minutes I had a reply. They pointed out my error and directed me to the correct app for my tv. They also told me how to get a refund from Apple. I also received a very nice follow up e-mail to make sure the problem had been resolved.
Once I had the correct app it was easy to set up. Enjoy using it to view photos and am sure I will use it in many other ways too.
There is a slight delay in mirroring, which I knew about as I had watched their video so have no issues with this. The app meets my needs.

Just settle for your phone
I bought this App to watch football streamed from my phone onto my tv. As a Pro, this app is very easy to use and the sound quality is perfect. But the cons are too much. The quality is terrible, it’s nigh on impossible to watch. It’s also delayed by nearly a minute. 53 seconds to be exact. I gave it a few minutes to see if it improved. The picture quality stayed around the same and the delay actually went to 55 seconds.

Absolute rubbish
Tried to mirror a workout from my iPhone today, I can deal with the 2-3 second delay but it stopped transmitting twice during the workout, which when you training to a timer is ridiculous!!!
Absolute waste of money this app, just get an iPad if you need to watch something on your phone on a bigger screen!
