Let down, and parents don’t let your children under 18 on this.

Full of inappropriate tells, paedophiles, bullying just a shame the tellonym team don’t do much about it. I have shockingly come across underaged children replying and enjoying talking to inappropriate anonymous tells that you can definitely tell that they are over 18. Parents SHOULD NOT let their children under the age of 18 on this app. Shocking.

ISNT WORTH DOWNLOADING

Tried to log into my old account from four years ago it was saying innocent password. I thought nothing of it and put in the email I had used, and sent a request to my email to change my password. Unfortunately I pressed this more than one time, and still no email came up allowing me to change my password. Honestly it’s a waste of time, the app has changed over a couple of years and by the looks of it my account has been deleted. Which I am very offended by. Don’t waste your time by this app.

False notifications, unable to turn off

The messaging and tell functions are good but I regularly get notifications with completely made-up statistics (about views to my tells that day, views of my ig profile which isn’t even linked…) and in the notifications section, there is no way to turn that off. Yes, I want notifications, but for tells and messages, not false marketing stuff.

Okay, but…

So it’s all fun and games right?

You answer some questions, you ask some questions.

But when you’re done using the app after a session of using it, you then get harasses to ‘pick up where you left off’. First it started sending that notification once, about a minute after leaving the app, which was fine. I now get bombarded with that notification but 4 time at a rate of about 5 seconds after each other. It’s frustrating. And simply for this, I don’t wan’t to continue using the app.

It’s a good concept but, it needs some work.

Worst app ever

I’m sorry , but this app became a short lived craze in my school , however after about one hour the power of remaining anonymous got to the students heads and they began solely using this app for cyber bullying , to the point where everybody was being cyber bullied , then they would feel bad about it and so they would take it out on other students by cyber bullying them , then the cycle repeats and repeats . Many physical fights started happening and it was a reck resulting in a school wide phone ban , the idea of this app is great ! But the execution was horrific .

I’m sorry , I don’t usually leave any bad reviews and try to be as nice as possible even when the app isn’t that great but this app is exceptionally dangerous , kids even had to change schools because the bullying got so bad this app has literally ruined lives. If I could rate this zero stars , I would .

Bullying and harassment

I love the app but more should be done to protect people. The word filter needs an extension, staff should be able to see who says what rather than giving us the option to block an anonymous person… these two things would provide an extended security net for young people. After being harassed, I blocked an account but that doesn’t stop the person making another one. You should be able to tell us who’s sending abuse so we can report that person directly rather than needing legal enforcements.

Weird automated questions

I keep getting like sexist questions or just questions on things that shouldn’t necessarily be questioned. Like questions that aren’t even my business. For example; “is it weird if a woman gets her man flowers?” Which it isn’t at all but for some reason questions like these have been shot at me. I can tell that they’re automated too. I doubt anyone is asking me questions like that.

Amazing app but just want to suggest something

I have to say, though I received a few hateful anonymous messages, I don’t think the app is all bad to be honest with you. It’s a good thing I can block those who message me anonymously and block some messages that have certain words from being received. But I just want to suggest something, I have some tells I’ve answered which I want to somehow want to be in the top of my profile, and I want something that might help me save tells in a some form of collection(s) which anyone can see or that I can keep in private.

Don’t get this app people use it as a way to bully

Tellonym is a great way to get to know others but people do use it in the wrong way. I had this last year when I was 12 in year 7 I got the nastiest comments on it people were calling me fat saying that I was ugly and my confidence really went down which made me wear more makeup when that was happening people were saying wearing makeup is bad and people who wear makeup aren’t trustworthy and are ugly and it really did damage me. My best friend at the time wasn’t even helping and was acting like nothing was happening and when she did something wrong I would get the blame and get all the hate for it at the end of 2019 I deleted it. A few months later I got it back but didn’t put the link in my Instagram bio for a while then like a few months ago I put it in because I wasn’t getting hate at all when I put the link in i didn’t get any hate until august a few months ago I got a massive unneeded paragraph and it did bring me down a bit but not as much I was just confused why they did it because I was barely on social media compared to in 2019 when I put my whole life on it so i was confused and just thought they were bored and replied with a nice sentence saying bullying isn’t cool either. So I would suggest not to get this app because even if you delete the tells you still had to read it and it would damage you so please don’t get this app as I don’t want it damaging people like it did to me. 1 star.

Tellonym Improvements

So I downloaded tellonym because lots of people at my school had it and I wanted to fit in. At first, I enjoyed the small little questions I’d received. But then I saw a negative side of things, so many People bully others on tellonym and get away w/ it. And I know you can report people but that doesn’t really help, they’ll just carry on. Once someone came onto my tellonym and told me to kill myself, and lots of people harass me and get away with it because they’re anonymous! And it’s very hurtful and extremely sick and I can’t believe someone would do that, so here’s something you guys should change, make the app a place where ppl can’t be anonymous, and then all the cyber bullying will definitely stop for sure. Made for bullies

As if bullies need another platform this app was primed and ready for cyber bulling and it makes me sick! What good could possibly come from people anonymously giving their opinion on people? Worst of all teenagers! If people have something nice to say they don’t need to hide behind an anonymous app! People are awful enough with names they certainly do not need this!! Great app minor inconveniences, bullying isn’t a flaw with the app

This app is fun and safe, the only problem is people don’t have much intuition to send you a message if it’s on your instagram because they have to go to your bio, click the link and leave the app to use it ;-; It’s the user/users parents responsibility to ensure bullying doesn’t happen, if you receive Nasty comments you can delete the comment or just delete the app and nothing happens. Also if you report the comment it blocks that user from msging you on the app. Anything anonymous leaves room for bullying it’s just a way of life and as long as you can separate constructive criticism from unnecessary verbal attacks you’re fine. Finally for all the parents saying their child was bullied, why allow them on the app if you find it so harmful, surely reading the description you could’ve noticed the risk and not allowed it? Not to mention the fact it’s a 17+ for a reason. Perhaps it’s an issue with your parenting you have uncovered.

Pretty good app

Ive read tons of reviews saying that this app has been used inappropriately to bully teenagers in lots of british schools. I can see that that would be quiet a big issue but as a teenager myself, who goes to a british school this hasnt been a problem for me. Perhaps if bullying starts just delete the app immediately rather than reading the hurtful comments since the comments were probably said out of jealousy more than anything.

always look at reviews! the app in itself is great but it has been used 90% of the time to dig someone out or just if an argument has happened people will be very horrible

People can get easily bullied

The whole point of this app is that you are able to send anonymous messages, you’re asking for innocent people to be bullied and harrassed. It can heighten anxiety and stress, as you don’t really know who the message is from, it can be from anyone around you. It is a destructive app and I would advise against it strongly, especially for youngsters who are particularly susceptible to damage from any negative messages they get. My school had to launch a serious enquiry into tellonym, because a whole friendship group was targeted and girls ended up with mental health issues and all the students in their year group weren’t allowed to use their phones at school premises or allowed to use the app at all, if they did, the consequence was suspension or exclusion. Just don’t get this app, no matter how many of your friends are using it.

Used for bullying

I’ve been on the app for some time now and I’ve either been receiving messages about how ugly I am or that I’m two faced and I can’t tell who they are coming from so I have to live with it. Or I see people leaving really bad comments on my friends tells about how gross they are and how they look like fat little aliens. Terrible app!

My daughter had been wanting this app for ages so we finally gave it to her at first she started getting some lovely messages from others calling her pretty and nice but then she put it on her instagram and started receiving a lot of hate and horrible comments such as “slag,gypsy,wanna be white girl(cause she’s mixed) hang yourself,ugly,go die,nobody likes you” and stuff like that comming in constantly we kept on asking her to delete the app but she wouldn’t I can see that the hate was knocking her down and making her feel insecure about how she looks,obviously I know that there is good to this app but sadly there wasn’t much for my daughter I don’t like how it is anonymous cause it’s just another way of cyper bulling of course there’s a lot going around at school and on instagram and stuff like that but this makes it worst being anonymous

Encourages bullying and bullies.

Not only does this app encourage bullying in every form (cyber bullying and bullying) but it also encourages bullies. I’m shocked to see that there is an app out there this and Yolo which is solely for bullying. While the idea of constructive criticism is needed in humanity there is no point in your friends criticising you as there are enough people in the world that does that. However if you are a bully you will not be able to see the difference between bullying and criticism. Thanks for allowing bullies to exist and giving them a safe space to do it without consequences and creating more bullies out there. This app is perfect for receiving criticism and advice as well as opinions on things you feel you need.

My one problem is that before the most recent update, I was a moderator which was accessed through a simple tab but I can’t find this tab anymore, which makes me sad because I found moderating to be very useful and enjoyed helping out the community

Terrible way for bullying

I really dislike this app,it’s a great way to target someone for bullying,yes I know there is an age restriction but if you feel like you are responsible enough then I think it’s okay under adult supervision. My daughter wanted this app because all her “friends” had it,turns out all her “friends” where saying nasty,sly,spiteful,comments. I was controlling her tellonym account because I didn’t want bullying to happen anyway it did. My daughter is 13 so I needed to watch her whilst using this app. We have found out who these bully’s where and she has moved schools because of this horrible bullying. Don’t ever download this app.

Promotes bullying

Due to its anonymous nature, this app has allowed someone to pretend to be my daughter and allowed messages to be sent encouraging a girl of 12 to kill herself, amongst other bullying and disgusting comments. This is a vile, dangerous and evil app that is clearly not monitored, regulated, has no safe guard about under age usage (a tick box to say you’re over 17) and is literally allowing children to be told to kill themselves. The creators and App Store should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such a poorly regulated and dangerous app to be so available for children to obtain. This will lead to someone’s death and at that point, the blood is on the creators hands. REMOVE THIS APP!!!!

I personally think that this app is very good in a way because it’s not like ur texting a certain person and they know who u are and u know who they are it makes u dig to fin information to see who it was but the bad thing about it is that is someone is being nasty or rude there is so way of telling who said that. I know this is not specifically made for bullying, every account I’ve been on including mine has had messages that somehow violate rules, I’ve deleted it now but I think that when you report a tell , if they have an account it should notify you because I’ve recently become an ex best friend and I think it’s her saying things but because there’s no way of finding out, I dont know that and I can’t bing it to the school like I can I it’s sent as a message from a phone number , make everyone that sends a tell have an account because then they can be caught .

Pros and cons

This app is very good for telling secrets that you maybe don’t want to share face to face but I’m a downside of this people can anonymously tell people to do things or say just plain nasty things and there is no way this could be tracked unless we go on their phones which we can’t do. That is why I’m giving it 3 stars out of 5 stars.

Disgusting

I don’t use this app. However I am appalled of how this app have made impact to our family, I recently discovered and found out my 13 yr old sister have been abused; people sending messages telling her to “kill yourself”, “die” or “this world doesn’t deserve you”. I am absolutely appalled and disgusted on how this kind of social media still operating. No wonder their so many young kids committing self-harm or suicide. This is absolutely ridiculous this app should be banned and stop operating. Pls. parents and sisters and brother check your children’s or younger siblings phone before it’s too late.

A bullies paradise

This is a good app until u get people putting disgusting things telling one of my best mates to end her life and that’s she is horrible and mank. In ways this app can be good but for me this is a bullies paradise they can say as much nasty stuff about people and no one will know it was them so this is why I think that the makers of Tellonym should make it so no nasty stuff can Be put on there or if someone reports something on there you can see who put it and is can be sorted out.

Perfect opportunity for abuse

This platform hides behind the premise of being able to send messages to people without the pressure of public social media platforms. What it actually does is inadvertently promote the sending of any type of message to individuals regardless of content.

In the guide for parents the creators state that they promote responsible use and that filters can be use to cut out inappropriate words, the bottom line is that these filters aren’t set by default and therefore any abusive or inappropriate messages can and will get through.

Teenagers and parents beware, and I speak from experience, if you want your son or daughter to be open to all sorts of questions then carry on, if you’d rather keep your sanity and your children happy leave well alone. Sooner this is off the App Store the better.

DISGUSTING & DANGEROUS APP

I have just found this app on my daughters phone and I am disgusted and shocked to see what has been written on her page.

This app is being used by most of her school and she is only in Y8 but what’s an age confirmation tick box preventing anyone of any age downloading and using it clearly.

This app needs shutting down as it is nothing more than a bullying platform which can lead to only dangerous and life destroying outcomes

I will be bringing this app to the attention of my daughters school and I urge other parents of students in secondary school to do the same before it’s too late and have a life lost to this stupid platform

Tellonym gives you an option to attach it to a Snapchat which you can then put on your story, I was bullied on it and it is a platform for Cyber-Bullying I think apps like this should have more than a button u can press to say your over 16 even if you aren’t, you should be made to have to verify it in a way where you have to show ur parents.

I can’t even give it 1 star considering how hurt I am and that the app hasn’t been disabled or deleted on all platforms, I’m giving it 1 star other wise it would not let me upload this review

Helping bullies

I don’t know how people can not realise by down loading thins up the striding straight into the arms of cyber bullying. Sure u can still innocent gossiping on there but really anonymous messages - when are they ever going to be nice. I know a lot of people don’t realise how it could go wrong so I’m just here to warn - everyone’s got people who dislike them and if ur going to get offended by what they say don’t download this. I’m not even joking - one of my friends has tried to commit suicide and another constantly receives death threats!

far too slow

tellonym seems like a great idea- a way for creators to answer questions their followers want answering without a sense of forced intimacy which comes from directly messaging someone. but it's so slow. so so so soooo slow. i've just about gotten past the sign up phase, and i can't even send the link to my account to anyone on my instagram page because the app takes too long to edit my profile. all i need to do is add a profile picture. that's all i need to do. so i wanted 10 minutes for it to load. 10 whole minutes. and it still hasn't loaded. it refuses to load. now my profile picture is just a massive 'H'.

before anyone tries to criticise me- my wifi is fine. i can go on social media fine and everything loads fine. it is purely just tellonym that refuses to load for a whole 10 minutes. i really don't know how people get past the sign up phase. please fix this bug because it's really annoying and i can't use tellonym until it's fixed.

alot of peoples arguements here are invalid, if you child is under 18 they should be able to sign up anyway, meaning if they are recieving hate and bullying messages, dont let them sign up to apps where other kids cna get away with abit name calling!! One review says my daughter is 12 and its meant to be 17+... EXACTLY!!!!!!!

Solution - If you do not want your kid to have some called names, do not let them download an app, lieing that theyre over 18... hypocrites everywhere!

Vile app for kids to bully each other!!

Ive has I give this 1 star but would rather give t nothing! I don’t have this app and I don’t want it! My daughter has been a victim to bullying on this and she’s 12! Despite it being for 17+, kids are getting it and being able to send anonymous vile messages, such as to end there life and other vile names. It’s disgusting and it’s even more disgusting that there are more reviews saying similar things yet doesn’t look like the developer takes any interest! Don’t get it!
