Unplayable

This game is unplayable. There is a glitch which means that conversions can’t be kicked. The player just stands there indefinitely. The game then can’t proceed and has to be exited. I would like to know how to fix this, or to be issued a refund.

Decent game but a couple of glitches

Update: *NEW GLITCHES MADE THE GAME UNPLAYABLE!! FIX IT OR REFUND ME!!*

*No matter how hard it how soft you swipe the screen sometimes the kicker just won’t take the kick making the game unplayable since it cant kick off again till the kick is made. Stupid glitch. No point in playing the game anymore*

Overall it’s a pretty good game but a few little glitches make the game a bit annoying. Kicks not going where you want it to go even when you compensate for the wind, obvious forward passes, flat passes getting penalised as forward pass etc. but other than that it’s pretty good. Also challenges are pretty awful too. Pro challenges are near impossible. Also what’s the point in players having speed and stamina ratings if my winger makes a break then slows down and is caught by a bloody tight head prop?

Too easy by far

After playing nearly 50 games I’ve won 50 and conceded 0 points. Too easy which makes it unrealistic. Please improve this.

Major Bug Fixes Needed

The game is fun to play however isn’t as lifelike as I would want it to be. The opposition sometimes decide to not take a line out and just stand there, so I lose all the progress in a game that I was about to win. Also, after a ruck, the tackler or the person running with the ball just decides to lie down for the rest of the game, which MUST be fixed. Not worth the price though. An absolute rip off!

Broken

They’ve made some of the challenges and levels in this game impossible it seems. It’s impossible to defend because you can’t switch player and it’s impossible to attack as your players can’t run it seems and they throw it into touch with one simple press of the button. The wingers stay always out side so there’s no attacking threat when it seems like there are 30 players against you, yes including your own team. It’s entertaining until you get onto other difficulties that aren’t the easiest one - then it becomes a burden and annoying. This game is not worth £5; if I had paid nothing for it, I would’ve got rid of it by now. A waste of money.

Engaging Game but few improvements needed

It is an engaging game and fun, especially good that you need to use tactics against stronger team (e.g. kicking as well as running, keeping it tight or passing further out). However:

1. Forward pass should be scrum not penalty

2. Players sometimes run aimlessly around before engaging

3. Difficult to switch to correct player to make tackle - sometimes they are running with player with ball and no way to tackle.

4. If ball kicked into touch or over dead ball line by opposition, defending team can choose scrum from place where kicked or 22 metre drop-out.

5. Players sometimes offside making tackles - should be penalty.

Despite the issues developers have done a good job though in turning a difficult game into something fun.

Avoid

Used to love the old versions but may as well hand my phone to a monkey and watch them play this instead.

The controls are atrocious. The AI is useless. Have basically no control over which player is selected and what you want them to do. So so disappointing, especially for a fiver.

Could honestly go on but just not much point - really dismal game.

Excellent Game

I’m addicted to this game, it’s so much fun. However there’re two things that it would be good to see. Often teams use a player other than number 10 for goal kicking. It would be good to be able to choose which player you use. Secondly on a related point there aren’t as many penalties as in the real game and it would be great if there were a few more place kicking opportunities.

Ideas for Future Updates

Overall, a fantastic, fun game. However, it does have some frustrating bugs. One of the most prominent bugs is when players get stuck when they are tackled. This leaves you unable to play the rest of the match.

I was exited when you released the British & Irish Lions squad and was wondering if you could release a Barbarians Squad in a future update. This Barbarians Squad would allow you to pick a 23 man team from any of the international or club teams featured in the game, in a “dream team” like fashion.

Rip off

When doing pro challenges you can barely keep the ball for two rucks. All the opponents do when they get a penalty is kick it. When you have no players in the ruck it just gives them a penalty for not realising. Two good things good about this game is that there is no adds and you can almost play any team in the world and be any team that you want.

avoid like the plague

This app is riddled with so many bugs and anomalies that it makes trying to play a game almost pointless. Press to pass left and the ball goes right; press to run forward and the ball gets kicked; you run over the try line and your player kicks the ball out of touch; the list goes on. The best thing the developers could do is offer a refund. And they need to understand the rule book when it comes to line outs.

Improvements in hopefully next RN

I have played RN15 16 and 18 and so I have seen the improvements the developers have made but still they could do more. There is no other iOS rugby game that compares to them so they already have all the rugby fans on iOS playing there game but there is so much potential for it to make it a game even non rugby fans will want to play.

Stamina: in a normal rugby game players can run the full pitch and then becoming out of breath but wingers in the game will run 25m and then start jogging and get caught by a prop! So definitely change the speed as well so backs are faster than forwards.

Kicking: penalty kicks are fine same with conversions and box kicks but its the grubber and kicks you do while running that are rubbish as the players stops and then kicks It while the opposition stay at full pelt and so unless you are New Zealand and they are the Cook Islands you will never win the ball.

Sidestep and player physicality: the sidestep is awful as you just end up stopping and then the opposing player tackles you and so if you sidestep while staying at the same speed then it would be much better. Player are all the same height and weight in game but in the stats you see when on the line up page it says there is a 40kg difference between some players. So if in game you could see a difference in size then it would make it much more realistic.

Overall however I think it’s the best iOS game out there and if they keep on improving it the game will become a very enjoyable and popular game to a wider community.

Pretty infuriating..

So many bad points. Too many exploits from both AI and the player so no skill is involved, it barely resembles rugby. Defending is impossible.

Only okay if you’re desperate for a rugby game on iOS.

Has potential

This game is 60% there. When spinning it down the line the man you’re passing tries to do a switch most times.. they hardly run straight or drift a bit with the play. The funniest thing is you can score drop goals with a punt with any player so it’s actually easier to keep the score ticking by punting the ball over with Dan Cole from the ten! Oh and I got a penalty for the oppo throwing a forward pass!

Great Game just a few flaws

Quality game that could do with a few changes:

-Make it easier to keep your own ball and make it harder to steal opposition ball

-Shouldn’t it be a scrum for a forward pass not a penalty?

-Sometimes players running back in defense tackle when they are in a massively offside position

-I think if you time the tackle horribly wrong a penalty should be given for high tackle

Have more penalties given away so it makes the game more realistic ie if the opposition team has already 4 men in the ruck and you charge in with 4 players a penalty for in the side or playing on the floor

-Mauls from 5 metres out just don’t work when the should be getting scored pretty much 90% of the time

-Don’t have the wind suddenly change as i take my kick

If i face the first half with 15 wind coming towards me i want to have that advantage in the second half not to find the wind has suddenly died down or even worse switched back to face me

- in career mode some autumn internationals would be nice and maybe play offs or a heineken cup would be fit

Please read this cos it’s a bloody good game with some what should be easily fixed things that need to be sorted xxx

It is very disappointing if anything it is a step backwards from the 2017 version. The tackling must be improved as well as the ai who for some reason 90 percent of the time will just kick the ball away from about 5cm away from the try line.

If you look at games like FIFA what is free this is a joke. If it was not for the huge amount of teams you can play for I would have given a 1 STAR review.

Riddled with bugs and annoyances

I must admit I do play this a fair amount, however it’s glitches and randomness in comparison to rugby nation 16 is awful. They are missing a great amount in comparison to the old game and it all feels like a rather lazy attempt compared to their previous apps.

When I play challenges on pro, the other team doesn’t get better mine gets worse!! It gets to the point where half my team can’t tackle and the thing that really annoys me, is that the nearest players run away from the ruck. Then you get people from the other side running over but by that point, it’s lost! The career is pretty good and I like the custom games.

Irritating

Where to start...

the graphics for this game are great and I do like the rugby nations series. But there are now so many issues and irritations with this game that I find I don’t play it.

- rules are wrong... teams get a penalty for a forward pass... when you kick the ball beyond the dead ball line the team gets a drop out.

- when defending, the computer randomly selects a player to perform the tackle, even if this player is 30 meters from the ball carrier (making defending almost impossible).

- the wind changes direction after you have swiped for your kick meaning it’s impossible to kick goals.

- you can always win a scrum on your opponents feed.

- none of the players, even wingers have the stamina to run the length of the field, meaning they get chased down by forwards so you can’t score.

- it is virtually impossible to retain possession after 4/5 phases, I always get turned over.

- it makes no difference how quickly I commit men to rucks, you can’t win them until 6/7 phases have passed.

- there’s no option to put someone in the pocket for a drop at goal.

- there are no selectable set plays.

- computer teams just seem to pass the ball left and right repeatedly until they break your line.

- whenever I pass left my scrum half pases right, and vice versa.

- my flyhalf is never first reciever so it becomes difficult to kick for position.

Essentially there are so many things that stop me enjoying the game I’m struggling to play it any more... if an update comes out I’ll have a go and see if it improves things

Good game but far too may glitches 👍

£5 for this seemed like a bit much but it’s one of the only good Rugby games out there so I decided to get it. But there are far too many glitches like the fact that Backs literally cannot go into rucks and if not instructed to do anything they just run around like headless chickens 🐓! Also sometimes when you press pass for some reason the player kicks it, what’s the point of that ???

Incredibly disappointing

As a general rule, I can’t be bothered to comment on the games I buy, but as the predecessors to RN18 have consistently been my favourite game over the years, I feel I must comment. The designers have wrecked a great game. The controls are terrible, tackling with any strategic though is impossible and hit and miss and it is virtually impossible to achieve any go forward. I can not control sprinting and it is virtually impossible to side step. I play this game to take my mind off work, but with the terrible controls, I find it so frustrating that I would rather work. My productivity has gone through the roof. What an indescribable shame. And for the price, it is an absolute rip off.

Frustrating

This could be a great game, but it’s unfortunately so frustrating to play. It’s so jumpy as to make it almost unplayable and keeps hanging - for some reason just when I’m trying to take a 22 drop out. Some of the realism is also way off including being able to tackle from an extreme offside position. Some other reviews mention the opposition team always grubbering the ball when they get within a few metres of the try line which is also not realistic. I’m also finding my players will grubber or pass when not prompted to either. Such potential but ruined by these and more frustrations.

Not as good as previous versions

Still fun but the AI on rucks and mauls on more difficult modes is ridiculous as you never get the ball even if it’s 7 to 1 on the push. Feels clunky and not a step forward alas plus when you have the ball they are all so much quicker plus never miss a tackle whilst your players wander around. No fun!

This is what I’m after since Rugby 08 on PS2! Not wanting a PS4 version anymore(for now). Glued to it and it lets you create rugby decision making and live skills! Bloody well and truly is the best 5 quid I’ve spent

Has many flaws but gives a jist if the real game

You automatically become slower after breaking the line and the player you have just ran past is suddenly usain bolt compared to you. The opposition do nothing besides kick to touch for penalty’s and also your players run around like headless chickens until instructed to do something and despite showing up an hour early to the ruck you still don’t tend to win it against the opposition. And I think big hits and smashing into a player or running over the top of players should be included in this game as it is £5 to get. I would play it more if it was cheaper or a multiplayer game. Poor show as Rugby Nations 15 and 16 made it look like it was going somewhere.

Fantastic, just don’t fix what isn’t broken.

One small error, edit names, once the best feature of previous games, is now obsolete. We want back for 3 reasons.

1. The International team squads are almost picked for us. Instead of a 32 man army, we are faced with only 23, limiting options.

2. International B and Lower club teams have fake names placed even though the real names are easily discoverable.

3. There cannot be any transfer between A and B teams, e.g. England Saxons to England Rugby. I want this changed.

I’ve never had any problems or bugs with this game and it’s enjoyable for any rugby fan, especially given the kits, stadiums and name similarity for international teams, but could a side view camera possibly be added and also the ability to control the away team in free play mode? Why why why don’t I act when I read a review? Honestly RN15 certainly doesn’t have the graphics that RN18 does bit that really where it stops back to 15 for me far to many glitches even the controls add to the problems. For the cost, I would have expected a lot better.

Too easy not realistic

So having played 11 matches on Pro mode in my career, I’ve won 11 matches.... and conceded 30 points! I mean seriously! The opposition attack is woeful, I think I’ve conceded 2 tries all season because they seem to kick to the dead ball line every time they get within 5 metres. There are no line breaks, no good tactics and the opposition always lose the scrum. They also kick to touch on 40 and 80 minutes.... the AI clearly has no concept of the score line or clock!

Then in contrast I’ve won 11 matches and only scored 141 points! It’s impossible to make breaks, catch own kicks, maul over from a 5 metre line out. It’s just not realistic.

Not great for the price and still a lot of work to make it more realistic. I would rather win/lose 32-27 than win 14-0 almost every time!

Don’t bother !

I wish I hadn’t wasted my money, some of the play is so unrealistic it hurts. When you go from semi to pro, all of a sudden your offloads go about 20 metres backwards and never to hand, whilst the opposition look like the all blacks regardless of who they are, perfect example is the 8th challenge. Even when you actually cross the line, all of a sudden the wind picks up from nothing to 17 and in a rotating random direction, thus making conversions impossible. At the breakdown you can’t win rucks even with most of your pack there first, side steps no longer work, and opposition props seem to catch your wingers with ease ! By all means make higher levels tougher, but this is rubbish.
