App won’t load
Updated review: all of the pro features are back. Thank you developers for respecting those who purchased the lifetime licence. However, the app will not load without an internet connection which is very common for me given I have to travel a lot where the signal is always weak or there isn’t any.

Upon opening this app, it now tells me it is unable to verify my age and so some features will be restricted. This is also accompanied by the words “testing: IOS_REFUSED”

Used this app since the iPhone 5, used it when it was free then paid several times for updates. Thought I’d go back to it today and turns out you have to pay weekly/monthly for it now!! Disappointed is an understatement as I cant even use any of the extras i paid for!

A Once Great App No More
This was once a great app but it is no longer. I paid for the lifetime access in the past but like many I started being charged again for it. Second, even though the iPhone 16 Pro Max has been out for a while this app doesn't take full advantage of the phone's capacitys.

Best camera app - no offline mode :(
Camera+ is great, so many modes, takes advantage of Apples cameras and modes well and the Macro function in app is excellent BUT I can’t use the app unless I have cell signal, it won’t even open and sadly all the lovely places I want to photo with this app have no signal so it’s rendered useless :(

I have used this app for many years now as a pro lifetime user and have always been happy with the quality and features. However since the last update the app has crashed multiple times. Now I just get the welcome screen and the app refuses to open. I have several photos stored in Lightbox which I can no longer open or work on. Very disappointed.

Absolutely Mortified
I have used this app every day since I got it in 2016. Since then I have paid on two occasions for all the upgraded features offered, in the belief I would be able to keep using them indefinitely. When the app auto updated this week, I found that none of the features are now available to me. I can’t even save an unedited photo. I have tried to restore my purchase many times this week to no avail. Support tickets sent through the app have been ignored. The submit button for support tickets on the website does not work. How can you do this to a loyal customer who bought the upgraded versions in good faith? I can’t afford to pay £50 for something I have already bought and believed I had the right to use. As much as I love this app, as much as I have used it, I will not be forced to part with £50 to use it again. With a heavy heart, it’s time for me to end my seven-and-a-half year happy relationship with this app. I really am saddened that I have been treated in this way. Developers – are you listening?

I’ve used versions of this app since it launched. It’s always been excellent and I’ve been happy to pay for features. The new update has killed the app. It’s over £360 per year now for the pro version and the free version is borderline unusable due to adds and enforced internet connectivity. Having been a user who PAID FOR THIS APP I’m not unable to do anything without signing up to a ridiculous £6.99 WEEKLY subscription. Removing old users without having the decency to admit to it is shameful. I hope this app is closed down, I hope this company goes bust, you do not deserve the good name and reputation this app built for itself after years of quality, customer oriented service to now be owned by a scummy company.
The most hilariously ironic thing is the fact the app uses an ai generated image with “master the art of iPhone photography” underneath. The picture of the woman with gems on her face and 4 red bows in her hair is not a real photo, it’s ai trash. Rot.

Yet another app update that I was looking to and then became bitterly disappointed . Upon going into the app I found a screen telling me that I must now pay £6.99 a WEEK NOT A MONTH to use this app or watch ads . I’m taking photos not watching you tube. That’s £335 a year . That’s on top of the original £9.99 I paid to download it and then more recently I had to pay 49.99 for what I thought was a lifetime subscription. Absolutely extortionate . I own this app. I just had to check because now I get an advert full screen asking for a subscription each time I launch it. I originally bought all the styles and looks but now find the obnoxious advertising too much. Remove it from those of us who own it. If you are offline it checks back to base before loading after updating which is also a pain and can catch you out. Will not load.
The app has been fun to use for quite a while, but now it simply will not load. It displays the splash screen and stays there no matter how long I wait (although it has always been VERY slow loading!). Restarting the iPhone does not help. I am on version 24.4.0, and am using an iPhone 15 pro max. Unusable at the moment.

I have used the app for many years and always like and enjoyed it.
I did not like having to pay again for something I had already purchased, but I did (foolishly and now with regret).
They in, their infantry wisdom, now check you have paid every time you start the app. No internet equals no camera. This is not acceptable.
I am also not prepared to pay them a third time for something I have already purchased.
My advice would be to anyone - don’t entertain them, as in my opinion this is bad practice.

Great when it works.
I take pictures out in the mountains where the mobile signal is sometimes non existent for days.
If the app has no internet then it just sits on the black screen and I end up using the built in camera app instead.
Now obviously this is license driven which I understand but surely there could be a fall back??
I thought never mind - I’ll contact the support when I get back in the world, the app support is non existent, the link just takes you a $10 website with a contact me link which doesn’t work.
In summary, the app is great other stuff is awful.

I’m a long-term user of this app. It struck a good balance between complexity and functionality. However, having paid some time ago for the Pro features the latest update has removed access to these. A ‘Restore’ within the app does not work and support requests produce no response. Time to look elsewhere I think.

First Impressions - excellent!

…and suddenly, I find I have full access again as a ‘Pro’ user!
I am SO relieved and happy. The program and software have always been THE BEST but I have felt so let down by the loss of functions that I rely on.
I only hope that there was an error that locked many former Pros out and that you have now corrected it.
My 1* is for the company - you do not keep their side of the contract. I paid for full lifetime usage years ago and more and more has been removed without extra payments. I have made contact on 3 occasions with no response and if I do not pay £40 + , I cannot use the parts of the app that I had for years . This gives developers a bad name and leaves me with a sour taste!
5* for the app I have just had a short experience with this app but for me 1st impressions are really great. I popped out to give it a try in macro mode and burst function and it was absolutely superb. I haven’t had enough experience with it to say more yet. I have now been using this app for several years and it is my favourite camera app. I use it every time I want a macro shot and I know I have so much more to discover. Thank you for your responsiveness, developers.

Very good app, shame about the company
Another long term user having ‘gone pro’ who lost paid for features without warning, had contact ignored and then features restored without explanation or apology.
As a camera app, it’s very good but the handling of the recent ‘update issues’ and lack of information has rather destroyed trust.
I’ll stick with what I’ve got as long as my paid features are honoured but would be cautious about any further commitment because of the potential for a future unheralded policy change or update failure. The absence of any explanation of recent difficulties means it’s impossible to know whether it was a poorly thought out policy that was then rescinded or a mistake.

Developers have restored the pro features. Hopefully this stays this time as the app updates in the future. I love the photos this app produces especially with the Magic settings which auto-adjust the camera settings for each photo. I also enjoy the edit features like Clarity.

Great App, but having to pay for it again!
For years, I’ve been using this App and told a number of friends and family to get it as well. I found in recent months, no matter how hard I tried and how many emails I sent, the App would not ‘Restore Purchases’.
Then I looked online and found a number of people talking about this on some forum, and it seems there has been a dispute and therefore they are no longer honouring previous purchases. Which means if you want the premium features then you have to buy again, which I currently am paying for a monthly subscription, but I feel it is very unfair that is happening.
Since the App itself is one of the best on the iPhone, it means it’s hard to not have it.

Poor value for money compared to other camera apps
Like so many others, I was a loyal user of the paid for Pro version of Camera+2, but aggrieved when the app suddenly demanded substantially more money on monthly basis to access the functionality I had been using and had already paid for. Another frustration was it becoming almost unusable when out and about because the app keeps trying to connect to a server via mobile network before you can even use the camera, a process that randomly takes between around 30 seconds and many minutes on UK networks. This renders it practically useless and with the very expensive monthly subs demands, I have ditched this app in favour of halide or procamera once I have decided which to go with (both approximately half monthly cost compared to Camera+2 Pro). Such a pity, as this used to be a decent app :(

I've been a huge fan of camera+ since the original release and would buy any and all in-app purchases to support the company. Now they've removed all the features I've previously paid for and they request either a $50 up front payment or a $5 monthly subscription to access them again. Avoid at all costs and know that if you do pay the $50 upfront payment you take the risk of them removing access and paywalling it again later, they've done it once already

This was one of the first apps I ever purchased, and I have purchased updates several times over the years. I’ve just opened up the app to discover that not only has it gone down the subscription path (which is in itself understandable), but all the features I have previously paid for (basically, editing *anything*) are no longer accessible to me, making this app just a waste of disk space now. I’m back off to Darkroom, which I’ve been using for a couple of years and am happy with. Thanks for nothing, Camera+.

I updated the app to see what new features had need added. They have taken away all the functionality I originally paid for and now expect me to pay a further, much larger payment to regain it.
A reputable company would have developed a separate PRO app and allowed their previous loyal customers to retain previous functionality, even on an unsupported basis.
As a previous reviewer stated the restore option doesn’t work so maybe it is time to say goodbye to what had been a good app for existing owners.

Disgraceful
I used this app for a few years. Having been so impressed with it I paid to get the pro version some time ago. Then one day it’s updated and a lot of features that were included when I paid for it have been taken from me. This is a terrible thing to do to loyal customers and is a sneaky and underhanded way of squeezing more money out of people. The people in charge of the app are clearly crooks and cannot be trusted not to do this again. There is no excuse for this. I will be switching to one of the other apps available and putting my money into them instead. There are a lot of apps every bit as good or better anyway.

No more pro
I had already paid for the camera+ pro but for some crazy reason it’s now taken away all of the pro camera settings like macro, Action, Raw and the like! As far as I was aware it was a one time payment so why do I no longer have access to them and it keeps asking me to upgrade to Pro version again???? I feel my moneys been taken and they are trying to charge me again. I would like some answers please!

Y Gorau i Gyd o Hyd? / Still the best? Caveat Emptor!
I'm a long term and enthusiastic user of this app. But I suddenly find I am prevented from saving images unless I upgrade at an unaffordable price - and it's a shocking change given that I purchased the app outright in good faith and did not buy into a subscription model.
I understand that the developers need to fund their development and updates but a completely new funding model should be a stand-alone new purchase choice, or continued access to the pre-subscription model granted to existing purchasers.
The upgrade version is offering a lifetime purchase option - what guarantee is there that in time it also won't also be overtaken by a new demand for cash?
I see there is an app which purports to be a 'legacy' version (no response from the developers to my request for confirmation that this version is kosher) but it offers less capability than the version I already have and for which I'd be having to pay again.
I have tried 'restoring' my original version of the app., but to no avail.

Disappointed
I have used this app for years. Paid a lifetime subscription last year. Now app keeps asking me to restore but doesn’t restore so unable to use unless I pay a further fee. Have contacted them by email at least 6 times. Nobody has bothered to reply. Now trying to contact them via the App and it doesn’t work! Why am I not surprised? This app has always been the best but maybe it’s time to move on. I don’t mind paying for a service but paying a lifetime fee twice probably isn’t even legal! Hopefully someone will read this and reply accordingly.

What’s happened?
Bought camera+ a couple / few years ago for macro setting and editing - it was a one off charge - and loved it but today when opened app, the macro setting and editing options no longer work and it’s saying I now have to sign up for a subscription to use macro and other settings despite buying and using the app for a couple of years. No warning, no info provided, just demanding cash in app. Doesn’t appear to be anyone to contact. How can they say it’s a one off charge for the app which I paid years ago and then just disable features without warning so that I only notice when go to take photo - it’s the lack of notice and options. Don’t say it’s a one off charge and then withdraw product - how can I trust the new ‘lifetime charge’ is really for life? Not happy.

Loyalty means NOTHING ❗️
I have been using this app for over 5 yrs every update I have given 5*s yet this months update has taken more than half the options away unless you pay £40 to use it a year and more for longevity.
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement and during these times of depression I’m wondering if I’m going to pay up or delete.I have still given 5* however I paid for the forever price in the earlier days I am a movie camera tech and most movies shoot Raw if not on celluloid these days so I always use raw with this app just because you can massage images to your preferred LUT (look) shame to go really❗️🇬🇧

SCAM ALERT :- lifetime purchase is fake
I paid for a one time licence in 2021 believing that I would be able to use this app indefinitely. Now in 2023 all the Pro features I paid for have been removed and I am expected to pay a hefty fee again for a further one time licence. This is clearly a scam.
Please ignore the average rating for this app, this average rating is weighted by a large number of reviews placed before the pricing policy was changed. Please read the recent reviews which will confirm what I am stating.

Can no longer use
I originally bought this app back in 2018, and while I had my last phone (iPhone 12 Pro) I had no issues using it.
Now I have an iPhone 15 pro I can now longer use any of the functions apart from basic auto. I can’t even use the macro mode.
I’ve tried restoring my purchases which doesn’t work and I’ve tried contacting the author, Heavy Plumb Apps, who now own the app and their submit button on the website contact form doesn’t work.
Does anybody know what to do about this?

Flexible quick editing
Love Camera+. I’ve used it for 10 years on my iPhone and even though iPhone editing has improved it still has lots of nice features and is really compatible.

Simple yet powerful
There are a million and one camera apps. Camera+ keeps it all beautifully simple in the interface, but still packs a powerful punch when it comes to shooting modes and after shot editing.

Amazing BUT 2 BIG Issues…
The camera is amazing but beware of two big issues with no fix and only workarounds, if you check the other comments you will see…
Black Screen on Start Up
It’s common and the workaround I was given was to hold the app button which will then allow you to select take a photo… It’s a known issue but I wasn’t given a fix!
NO PRO features when off grid - the bit you have paid for…
So you pay for Pro, go on holiday and are no longer on WiFi or a mobile network and every Pro feature is locked - No Macro, No Slow Shutter, No portrait… etc! It’s so frustrating and had me resort to the native camera and try other apps whilst away in Morocco. The workaround this time is to wait for renewal because when I pay next time the issue will magically have vanished.
I’ve had enough which is why I’m posting this and wouldn’t buy until these issues are fixed.
3 Stars are because its awesome when you have a network connection, but a complete let down when you don’t.

Taking my time
Being very new to photography, and having maaaany photography apps on my phone, and not knowing how most of them work; I’ve decided to take my time with this one, making sure I know everything there is to know, so that I am able to get the best and most out of it; hence the 4* rating. So far?, I think that this has the potential to be a very good app, and I’m definitely going to try my best to get every last ounce of information and usage from it. Okay then. Having not used the app for some time, I seem to be experiencing some issues when trying to edit my photos in RAW. Some of the photos are okay to work on, but others are shutting down the app when trying to edit them. All of the photos have been taken in the same set-up, but for some unknown reasons the app keeps on shutting down. Could you please advise me on how this can be rectified. Thanks

Suspicious need to be online.
This app has historically been brilliant, but now when offline it fails to start repeatedly giving only a black screen. First time and subsequent times was when I had bad cell coverage, and was off WiFi. But essentially when completely offline it doesn’t start. I then checked settings to see what it was trying to do, and turned off its access to mobile network… why do you need access to the cellular network to work? Which despite what developers will tell you it DOES as I was prompted to allow access to cellular afterwards. What are you scraping from my device? Works on WiFi with on in flight mode, so just needs to be online - not at all suspicious.

Extraordinary
This app takes photographs in all formats, including RAW, to a really high quality. But as a way to edit photos brilliantly on the go is exceptional. I’ve had this app for many, many years, but I have yet to find one as easy to use. Highly recommend.

Slow shutter needs work
Bought this app mainly for low light work. Took two photos one after the other using the iPhone s night mode then camera+2 slow shutter mode. iPhone camera worked perfectly with sharp image and accurate exposure. Slow shutter using camera+2 app was very disappointing. Image more resembled a dark smudge. Shame as I paid lifetime fee and it’s a waste of time for me

A Great App
I’ve had this app for some years now and found it straightforward and enjoyable to use. I have to admit that I probably haven’t made use of a lot of the inbuilt functions, but those I have used have worked well indeed.
I definitely prefer this camera app to the standard one provided with my iPhone.

The perfect camera app

I don’t know what happened
It is beautiful app but recently I am not able to take pictures of the moon at the night. It keeps jumping between clear and blurry picture on manual settings. It looks like the latest update has broke something with the camera ability to focus. I am using iPhone 14 Pro Max. If I could I would revert this app to older version.

Smile shutter is poor quality
I bought this app because I was interested in the smile shutter option. Unfortunately I was disappointed... it does not recognise the smile effectively. I literally have to move my head 10 times in all directions while smiling in order to find my smile and then take a picture. By that time the moment I wanted to capture is gone. Such a shame. It is an otherwise great app.

The best 3rd party camera app
Sometimes I veer away (ProCamera mainly), but I always end up returning to Camera+
It’s got a dedicated team that updates frequently with humour and effectiveness and works across the iOS platform, though people who take pictures with their iPad on a regular basis should be taken out and shot - bullets, not photography.

Best Photo Editor
I’ve been using this app since the original version and it’s brilliant. The “Clarity” button is worth everything to just make things look better. Buy this and you will not regret it, lots and lots of different filters and brilliant editing tools too.

Goto Camera
Camera+ 2 is definitely my goto camera on my phone. Manual if I need it, generally shoot RAW on auto and edit in app. Great range of editing options and filters though I only tend to use 1 of 5 of my favourite filters if ever. But. They’re there if I want them. Fully recommend this camera.

It’s crashed on me
This is great little app for the money it includes macro, slow mo and editing.
I recently experienced some problems with app crashing.
However it was after an iOS update and eventually I thought to fix it by turning my device off and rebooting.

By Far the Best iOS Camera App!
This app is intuitive, and yet gives you full control over every aspect of the iPhone/iPad camera that you want.
I used the previous version of this app and the second is even better. I couldn’t recommend it more highly to anyone, whether they have knowledge of WB, shutter speeds etc or whether they don’t - this app can do more than any other iOS camera app.
It provides comprehensive editing facilities, filters and a whole range of other tools to optimise your photos. I don’t go in for Instagram etc but for those who do, the editing facilities on this app are second to none and you will not be disappointed!

Best camera app
I used the original Camera+ for many years and it evolved into a great camera app that gave lots of control over exposure and post-processing. Having recently acquired a new iPhone 11 with two cameras it was time to upgrade to the enhanced Camera+2 app. From what limited use I have had, it looks every bit as good as its predecessor with even more control options. A not unpleasant drawback is the time it takes to explore all these new tools!

A great Camera App... RAW included
I really enjoy using this App, well actually it’s a camera with a few ‘bells and whistles’ than the average camera App.
I have had some good results with my experimenting with the ‘b & w’s. I have made a few mistakes too but, we don’t talk about those de we!!
Anyways, I would definitely recommend this camera App to everybody and try out things you may not have had the courage to before. Don’t forget now Camera+2.

Excellent with only slight
Buy the app then set it up to open edits in The Lab mode. Clarity Pro tool is excellent and as subtle as you need it to be. Other tools are good too. The Highlight and Shadow Details tool could be more accurate but a minor quibble for phone editing. Lots of filters including some classy black and white. Easily linked to the native Photos app in IOS so you can edit quickly. Have gifted this app to several friends it’s that good

Panorama fail?
Have long enjoyed using camera+ so disappointed that despite the ‘bigger better does more’ sales pitch after buying the camera2+ vsn i immediately tried to edit a panorama photo (on iPhone7). It failed: photo just turned black. No warnings no nothing - just black. Had to revert image to original to recover. Probably a glitch or cannot handle panormas (just like the former + app) but needs to warn you & really if its that much more powerful why cant it handle panoramas ... ??

Using this app I took a photo of Tim Peak’s spacecraft which is currently inside Peterborough Cathedral by zooming in whilst behind a barrier (on a iPhone 6s Plus) as I couldn’t get close enough and still got good clear shots of control panels inside through the window/porthole. Clearer than the iPhone camera on zoom! Great app in many ways! 😬

Yes and no
Buggy, choppy and I get the ‘send error report’ often. Camera + legacy is still my go to. Also, the portrait mode or function in camera +2 is hit and miss whereby the same mode in the camera + legacy works every time. This is on the iPhone 7 Plus so I suspect camera + 2 will work better once I’ve upgraded my phone later this year. Overall though, love the new layout in camera + 2.

Improvement on my favourite shooting app
I was nervous to see a new version of what has long been my favourite shooting app, but I’m pleasantly surprised. If anything it seems slightly slicker. I worried when long exposure shooting seemed to have gone but support were quick to point me to a new shooting mode under the + button. Very powerful app and excellent support.
