Archive is misleading

If you’re buying to access the archive then you best find another source. Barely any full races from before ‘95. Currently rewatching Spa 2010 and there doesn’t appear to be any commentary sound track. Only paid for one month so not the worst financial mistake but a shame the owner of the material has half arsed what could have been a wonderful resource.

If I could This App deserves minus 5 stars. As it not worth the money. Now since an update. On the Driver Tracker. The cars freeze, or the app switches off on you. Also before Free Practices. Qualifying, or The Race Start. On The Driver Tracker. You used to see some more off the cars on the Circuit, but not it barely allows you to. Synchronise what you see on the app. To what you see on the TV feed. Unless these issues. This will be the last time. That I will pay for this App. Because with these issues it just isn’t worth the money.

TOTALLY WORTHLESS.

I paid my £19.99 and opened the app looking forward to enjoying what it was supposed to offer. It turns out it is absolutely nothing! Several emails later over som weeks - still nothing! Frustrating for UK viewers!

The fact that Sky holds the contracts is a shambles for this app! What even is the point when your UK viewers can’t access the content nor watch the races! The ability to watch via VPN is also diminishing! The monopoly that Sky have on viewing this is ridiculous! People should not have to be forced to purchase Sky just to watch F1 when we bare no interest in other sports! This is borderline mis-selling and non transparency to your fans and viewers! Paid, but can’t watch

I travel often between countries and have several paid services to watch F1. F1TV however, is very unreliable. When I’m in Europe, I can’t watch / rewatch any of the practices, quali’s, and races. It used to work, and only occasionally have problems (still very annoying). However, since the end of last season problems were more persistent, now I can’t use the F1 TV App anymore. Tried customer service 2x, but they can’t help.

TV it is not! Don’t waste the money

I tried this for two years, it’s supposedly a way to follow F1 but is a total waste of time and money however low the cost.

I wanted the tech and Weekend warm up items that F1 do better than anyone. I got it for half a year very intermittently then later in the year this really naff site kept telling me I’m “out of the available region” I’m 30miles from Biggin Hill where it’s edited then sent out so well within its broadcast point.

It should be called F1 rip off which in all senses is what the spot has become to us ordinary mortals. I cannot afford Sky, have followed the sport all my life but only get highlights on C4 which is always close to losing its franchise. It’s now become an elitist sport for the rich. Used to go to races but stupidly high costs keep me away so clearly true ordinary fans are unwanted. Can’t wait for Silverstone the only race I can watch this year live!

Has Potential

I paid for the one year subscription last year just for the archive section and I was disappointed to see there was no qualifying or practice from the 90’s and 00’s, the official F1 app should have this. The more I looked I realised there was quite a lot of highlights and not the full races in the archive section. I have a larger archive of f1 races and qualifying than the app that shouldn’t be possible.

INFO FOR UK PEOPLE

In the uk, sky sports currently has all the streaming and airing rights to F1 live. This means that this app can only give you live times and track positioning .. it cannot give you live video feeds. So if you’re looking for live video footage of races and live in the uk, you cannot use this app so do not subscribe

No good for UK

I’ve previously used F1 TV pro for two years or so in order to watch F1 legally. It was good value for money. I had to use a VPN to watch in the UK, but this was fine. However, most recently they must’ve changed their policy because they rejected my payment because it was from a country not on their “accepted” list. So I can no longer pay to watch F1. Forcing you to fork out a full subscription to sky in order to watch. This type of business practices are driving people from legal routes to dodgy streaming services. And it’s all of their own making.

Great Alternative to other subscriptions

If you don’t want Sky then this app is a reasonable alternative. Great documentaries and lots of older Grand Prix to watch. The subscription is well worth all that you get.

Poor design and performance

Sadly no Schedule in the AppleTV app, so zero advance information on when any of the live sessions is available. When live content is available the streaming quality is highly dependent on how popular that event is - free practice will be in HD for example, and probably also the race buildup, but the race itself will drop to sub-SD quality, and often stops completely with errors! While at the same times Netflix, AppleTV+, Prime etc can be streamed stutter-free in 4K - clearly an F1TV service issue. Very disappointing.

You cannot watch f1 live.

i payed £2.30 assuming i would be able to see the race from start to finish live however this couldn’t be further from the truth. Under the subscription it said that i could see live action of the drivers yet apparently i cannot watch the actual cars, i could only look at some leaderboards and graphs which made no sense to me. I know that it’s not expensive but save your time and nerves and stay away from memberships directly from f1.

Pointless.

Used to use it and enjoyed the coverage, price was great, then this year happened.

Always use to stop subbing over the down season, why pay for something when, for me there’s nothing to watch?

So just before the first race, it wouldn’t even give me the option of subbing to F1 Pro, only some €2.99 subscription with nothing live, watch bits days after the race and that’s it.

Seems there’s been a change of policy, as I’m in France, and as I understand it, quite a few other countries too, if I’d keep my subscription I’d still be able to watch, but as it lapsed, I can only watch the local broadcast, that costs over THREE times the cost.

There was no warning, there was no advanced statement, just out of the blue, “Oh, you can’t watch anymore because, well just because, but you can pay for some cheap worthless subscription.”

So I either get ripped off, pay for a useless subscription just to give F1 TV a bit off cash, or go without.

As a lifelong F1 fan, I’ve given up on F1, because seriously what’s the point, if they don’t want my money, fine, I’ll save it rather than be ripped off.

So, before using, check you can actually use it if you want to watch races live, there’s a good chance depending on your location, it’s local broadcast rip off or nothing.

Genuine scam

I’ve used the app for 2 years until liberty decided to screw over all customers. First they removed 90% of content, because they sold rights to canal+. Of course they wouldn’t even send out a note to customers or gave them option for a refund or lower the price. Then they completely broke the app for me and are coming up with increasingly ridiculous excuses as to why I cannot use it.

F1 has sold all the rights to live viewing

If you live in the UK and you can’t afford £180/year to watch your favourite sport on TV, tough. All viewing rights have been sold to Sky who charges £18/months! I can’t afford that. I’ve been watching F1 on tv since 1972 but no more.

F1 tv Pro is not available in my county. Less that £20/year seemed like a real bargain price!! No wonder, it’s £20/year to watch everything except the race. What a load of old rubbish! After 52 years of watching my favourite sport, I can no longer watch it because F1 tv doesn’t show live races, channel 4 has to wait so long to be allowed to broadcast the highlights that often I hear the results before watching the race.

Poor show F1 - you’ve really let down this ardent fan. So sad. The world is ruled by corporate greed!

Unacceptable

I had a functioning account for last season and had minimal issues. After I needed to change payment methods and sign up again for the current season, I noticed the prices had changed, which is where the misleading ads for F1 TV Pro started. Over the last month or so, I have signed up for both monthly and yearly subscriptions as prompted for live races.

Only when I found a link in tiny font at the bottom of one page where they tell you live access isn’t available in a number of countries did I realise I couldn’t watch live F1 anymore… despite endless prompts telling me to sign up for F1 TV Pro and having paid one month and then one year subscription.

They are happy to take payments after advertising the Live experience to then tell you it isn’t available. The only warning is if you spot the small font which in itself is misleading as it’s titled ‘Replay availability varies’ - no mention of live availability varies until you follow the link.

I’m so disappointed and now well out of pocket.

Not what it appears

This app (if you are in the UK) is not at all what it appears to be.

If you pay for subscription thinking you are going to watch ANYTHING LIVE then you are mistaken. This is just archived races and highlights of live events some time after the event. Also if you try and connect anywhere but on your TV you will mostly get an error.

What you will get from the subscription is access though the main F1 app to live timing and radio audio, which can be an nice accompaniment to the live race. However you will have had to purchase the rights to watch the race from another source.

You will get a message to ‘upgrade’ to watch live, but if you’re in the UK that isn’t possible. There is no way to purchase an upgrade.

My advice would be to avoid this and pay for NOW TV sports subscription where you can actually watch everything Sky F1 puts out.

Subscription doesn’t work in F1 app and more

There is a serious issue with this app and the corresponding F1 app. If you buy a subscription in either of them, it won’t work in the other app. I noticed a slight naming issue in the subscriptions (r)

What’s really sad, is that the times of the sessions aren’t available without a subscription. You want me to pay for information I can get for free somewhere else? I am happy to pay for the archive and realtime info, but session start times, really?

Misleading

I subscribed to F1TV earlier this year while travelling in Central America. I saw no indication of restrictions on where viewing live races might be. It worked for a couple of races in CA but not by any means all. I had dialogue with the help team but this didn’t help. On my return to UK is of course discovered that it’s doesn’t work in UK or Spain and now in India I am still unable to restore my £60 F1TV purchase. The help team seem to dish out stock item responses don’t address my actual questions directly. So really not happy.

I am now back in Central America where I should be able to restore my purchase but predictably I was not able to. We are now at the end of the season and I don’t intend to renew next year. All in all a dismal failure I’m afraid.

I got access as part of a f1 package I had for the Belgium GP. Would never have bothered subscribing if I did t get the free access m, however it’s good. Nice to keep updated on race weekend while on the move and the weekend warm up show is brilliant.

Get into the twenty first century F1!

You want the world to get involved in GP but cannot relay a live broadcast.

I can get everything plus great coverage on Sky, but sometimes I’m not in the UK so need a way to access my sport. YES F1, I SAID MY SPORT!

I thought this would remedy the problem, but not so it seems.

Fix the issue F1. You are making it too difficult to access the sport. It is not a catwalk for ‘celebrity’ parasites, it’s our sport and many of us created it. So, sort it out or you will take the sport away and it will become just another form of entertainment.

I will not bother with F1 TV again until you can transmit the sport to all who want to watch it.

This is Live Timing DATA only

F1 TV is very misleading. SKY own the rights to stream F1 live within the UK. You are unable to watch the Races live unless you have a Sky Sports F1 subscription. This app is purely for Track, Car and Radio Data. I believe this app works outside the UK but SKY bought the exclusive rights to stream the races and a deal with Channel 4 to stream it delayed.

Hopefully this sorts out some confusion.

This is also why it only costs £20 a year

Since last week every time I close the app down, when I come to open it again it freezes on the main start screen. I’ve done everything that should be done to rectify it ie delete, cache etc etc and too no avail. I have to download it again and log back in.

Poor value and performance

One would expect, in todays modern inter-connect world that one would be able to enjoy ‘Live’ coverage while away on holiday, or away from home on business. But no this app is totally unportable, a feature you possibly won’t discover until moments before the race. Very frustrating indeed. Other feature is that is your OS isn’t bang up to date, the app will not work one iota, it doesn’t work with the latest feature not available, it plain does not work ! Which isn’t good when you start the app 5 mins before the race starts, to be notified that the OS need a mandatory upgrade that going to require 15 min to download, install and verify. This app isn’t as clever as one may hope, not withstanding it poor performance. 85-90 % of the time it does enable you to watch the race ‘live’ but do not rely on it. Best search the web for coverage, particularly if aboard and for some cockwobble reason the app fails to provide live coverage.

So frustrating

I thought I’d try this for the first time as I was promised full race replays appearing up to 48 hours after a GP. I thought I’d try it for the Belgium GP but I won’t be using it anymore. The highlights appeared a couple of hours after the race but almost 3 days later I’m still waiting for the full race. Waste of money but more importantly a waste of my time.

Great app but missing features

Great app and good picture quality. No drops or cits on the live feed (and same for the archive of course) but missing completely the offline view which is bad for this type of apps (even netflix has this for years). Second thing is the categorisation for new races. I was trying to find the free practice races on Saturday afternoon (before qualy) and had to digging around to other vids until I get a suggestion for what I was looking for.

This was the perfect way to view F1

Up until this week this app was the best way to watch F1. The content is great, the video quality is spot on most of the time and there were rarely any hiccups.

Unfortunately, being someone who works abroad outside of Europe regularly they’ve cracked down on the use of VPNs which means I can no longer access the things I want to watch (live feeds, etc) while I’m at work. If this is the way liberty media will continue, I’ll have to cancel my subscription, as it’s not viable to keep it going if I’d only be able to watch 40% of the races

F1 TV Pro

Currently abroad and wanted to see the F1 this weekend - only have commentary at the mo!

Clicked on the F1 TV said I needed an upgrade - did all the necessary and paid - account says I have F1 TV but when you open it it says I need to ‘upgrade’ did the same again and still the same - although I have now been charged twice.

Complained by e-mail as instructed and didn’t get a viable answer -told it was impossible for them to take 2 payments on the same account and I must have another account - I don’t

So my account says I should be able to watch it but I can’t and now I have missed 2days of racing and probably the main race tomorrow- and I won’t need it after Monday!

Floating video

Love the F1 app. Solid, good performance. One thing I miss is that when I switch to another app, eg. Twitter, the app disappears to the background. Would love to see the mini video player, “floating” in my screen so I can keep a small eye on the video while reading the socials o n F1.

Utter junk.

There are reviews in here suggesting you can watch a race live or even on demand. You can, but only old races from previous seasons.

I have seen in several places online, claims that you can watch a race live, this lead me to download and subscribe to this service. I hope I can help someone out in the future by letting you know you cant. This is as close to a complete con as anything else I have ever seen. Complete rip off merchants.

Good idea… Terrible execution.

This app would be great, if it worked. The amount of bugs in this app pains me, especially when trying to airplay or stream to chrome cast, constant error codes. Normally the only fix is to restart the app, sometimes needs Wi-Fi disconnecting and reconnecting.

The reason I’m even writing this review is because I was watching practice 1 highlights, and they ended, so I closed the player, clicked practice 2 highlights, player opens with an error message, click the ‘try again’ or whatever the button says, doesn’t work as I expected, and just as I’m about to restart the app to fix it, it asks for a rating😂 couldn’t have been a better time lol.

Solid app, but streaming quality is erratic

After moving back to South Africa I’ve been looking for a way to watch F1 without paying a ridiculous amount for a sports package on DSTV (like Sky in the UK). The F1 app is great - lots of content, plus live practice, qualy, and races. And critically also the option to choose to watch from the start or live, if you come into the race late. I often watch a few minutes to an hour delayed.

Unfortunately the streaming quality is erratic and often drops back even below standard definition, and goes very pixelated and jaggy. Given the races are all filmed in 4K, and I’m paying for the official app I expect the quality to be perfect.

I also have Netflix, Showmax, Disney, and Apple TV, which all stream perfectly in HD or 4K, so I can only assume this is a issue on the F1 app side rather than a bandwidth issue on my side.

Hugely frustrating. Wasted hours of my life trying to sort it.

Used this app for a couple of years, used to be pretty decent, but my account stopped working about three months ago. Have spent hours trying to make it work again (all I want to do is watch F1 and I’m still paying for it).

I have now given up and cancelled the subscription. I had planned to resubscribe but for some bizarre reason it makes you go to a website to do that, and the ‘Subscribe Now’ button on the website doesn’t seem to work on Safari.

Don’t bother - life is too short and you’ll end up paying for something you can’t access!

No customer support for very glitchy app

I have been subscribing to F1TV from South Africa for 4 years, and the service and support are still routinely appalling. The live content (the only reason to subscribe!) crashes frequently, and it can often be impossible to load live quali or races. When their error codes start to pop up, you know you are in for a frustrating weekend. Often I have to watch the full replay after the race. There is ZERO customer care or support when content crashes. Not once have they even replied, let alone helped. I wish there was another way to watch F1 in SA.

Good App. Still needs improvement.

I’m impressed with how much content F1 TV has all for a really reasonable price. Video playback is smooth and quality is good too. Some additional features added would move this app up to 5 stars.

Watch History needs to be added. With the amount of content this app has its easy to forget what you’ve already seen. Auto play would be a neat feature too so I don’t have to watch the season reviews in 10 minute segments. Would be awesome to see this app make its way to more platforms too, such as consoles and more smart TV’s.

Useless

Absolutely terrible. Live sessions are nonstop Lagging, stopping, extremely poor quality. “Live” is unwatchable, ridiculous, stopping in every 15sec. We are in 2022 not in 1996 and of the biggest media group can’t handle this? Pffff …

I have a full subscription (unfortunately) for the whole year… First and last time when I’m pay for it. On the top of that: Custumer service: just simply not exist. Ruining up all my race weekends. Shame on you …

Ok app, poor quality

App itself seems to be great so far, but not sure why you can’t set the stream quality. It starts blurry, goes to what looks like 1080p for a while - then back down to 360p or whatever awful quality setting it is, can’t even make out a name. Running app on fire stick, you can set to 1080p and no issues - please add the quality settings to the Apple app!

Unable to AirPlay

Is there a reason why I can’t airplay from the app to my Xbox one? I run the same system for the WRC which works perfectly. However the F1 app only passes the audio through without picture. I’d give 5 stars if I could watch the live races on TV. Currently on std monthly but willing to pay the extra for pro if that would help?

One of the worst experiences with streaming

To the developers, how do I actually watch F1 TV on my TV?

I have an LG OLED with a (2020, Current Gen) Google TV chrome-cast. And an iPhone 13, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. I also have a gen 2 chromecast ultra

If I use my iPad and try casting to the Google tv, it doesn’t work, it just says ready to cast. Same with the chromecast ultra.

If I use the app via iPhone or iPad and try AirPlay it just gets some strange error every time.

If I use the browser via iPhone or iPad, unsupported browser. If I download Brave, it lets me get further but never actually plays on the TV via airplay.

If I use my MacBook, AirPlay isn’t available at all?

Unless I mirror the screen, which works but it stutters like crazy, and is terrible quality. Honestly it’s unwatchable.

Honestly, what do I have to do just to watch the F1?? It’s ridiculous! I pay every month, why can’t I just watch it… I shouldn’t need an entire arsenal of devices to watch it

Stable app but needs improvements

App and service are working stable, also via Roku. But the app structure and menus are messy and illogical.

In terms of broadcasting: the race day footage is being split up in different broadcasts: pre-race, race, post-race. Why? Just let me keep on watching, and cut them up afterwards in different on demand streams after the race! Plus please cut with all those intro videos, one after the other, just before a race. It's annoying af, Just stay on the grid!

Don’t bother

After moving abroad I was desperate to watch F1 races so I downloaded this app. Last weekend the app worked great and I was able to watch the first race via Airplay. This week my free trial ended and I was happy to proceed and pay the annual subscription but this weekend I was unable to watch any live qualifying or race on Airplay. After contacting F1tv support I was informed that only this week the app had been updated and live content could only be watched through an Apple TV Box. I have cancelled my subscription and after reading the reviews will advise anyone not to give any money no matter how big a fan you are.

No good

Worst app on the App Store. All I want to do is watch some F1…I paid for a subscription, and then am told I need to upgrade to pro version. So I oblige (all I want to do is watch some F1) and it still won’t let me watch anything (despite following their instructions and ‘restoring subscription’! I logged out hoping that when I log back in it would reset something and I would enjoy some F1, but I cannot even log back in! F1 should not clamp down on illegal F1 streaming websites if it cannot even provide a minimum viable service themselves.

Account mechanism a mess

Sadly this app doesn’t work very well. Having logged me out automatically, and my password not working, I requested new one, but am then unable to set a new one properly. It doesn’t initially reject it but then doesn’t update when click ‘save’. Although I am in the internet app, I still don’t know what password is. The app then doesn’t let me log in either.

Doesn’t work casting from iPhone to chromecast

The only way I can successfully watch any archive content is if I plug my laptop into my TV using a HDMI

The cast option just sits there spinning round with Ready To Cast. Also missing continuous play option so trying to watch any of the season review videos is annoying as you have to select the next video every 10-12 minutes. Please sort these issues

Missing PictureInPicture (PiP) support

Please add support for PiP on iOS so that I can watch races but also use different apps at the same time. Also, this app desperately needs a ‘continue watching’ tile so that I can continue where I left off if I don’t get to finish watching a race. The ability to download races to watch them while on the train would be great. Given the financial might of Formula One, I thought a bit more development would’ve gone into this app to have those features

FATAL FLAW

Great app with one fatal flaw… if you are trying to watch a Grand Prix delayed (maybe you missed the start) but want to start from the beginning of the broadcast you’re **** out of luck.

The app will chuck you straight in to the live feed and you’ll be forced to try scrubbing the timeline back whilst simultaneously trying to avoid listening/peeking at the current state of the race.

Also… occasionally the feed with drop out and instead of resuming where it paused, it’ll jump you to the most recent feed. At least twice I’ve gone from lap 13 to the podium ceremony and totally spoiled the result. It’s not my connection speed, either.

PLEEEEEEEASE, give us the option to “start from the beginning” if we click on a race/qualifying that’s already begun. Not everyone wants to jump in to watch live 🥺
