Charging UK users for the subscription is a joke
People may not know that here in the UK we are banned from listening to internet radio through streaming services like this due to some legal issues with the BPI (they make sure that British artists get paid royalties for their work) but unfortunately we can’t listen to station outside of the UK.
What this now means is that UK listeners can only listen to UK based radio stations which is nothing more than getting a cheap DAB radio and tuning into your favourite stations yourself.
I find it disappointing that Radio Garden is looking to charge UK users a monthly subscription for advert free listening to listen to stations that currently are free on other platforms…
Come on, sort it out for the Brits!

It’s a great app, I used to use it daily while living abroad to listen to radio stations all over the world in many different languages, it was so fun and entertaining! But now that I moved back to the UK, it’s been rendered useless. A real shame.

Don’t waste your time if your in the uk
I stumbled across this app and was excited to discover different music from around the work!
Well…….if your in the uk then you can’t actually listen to anything outside of the uk!
I understand that this is due to licensing issue but completely defeats the object of the app.

I never thought it would happen in the UK, but here we are crippled by the bureaucratic ones. Was a great app, but now pointless. I guess it’s back to the real shortwave radio waves on good old fashioned hardware. I feel sorry for the devs of this app.

Seeing that you cannot access overseas stations any longer I feel the subscription £2.99 a month is a lot of money for what this radio app offers maybe it should be no more than a one off payment to remove the adverts eg £5 or thereabouts. Having said this the app is ok save for the worldwide stations which is a reason I would like it.

Use as station indexer for non-UK radio.
Select station on globe. Pull up bottom tab with station details. Select ‘Visit Website’ and station home page opens in browser. (May need to select player if not on home page). Useful workaround for pointless restrictions and makes App useful again.

Almost perfect: missing CarPlay integration
I really like this app and have been using it for years, however, it would be perfect if it was CarPlay compatible.
There really shouldn’t be anything preventing this, so not sure why it’s been so long and it hasn’t happened yet; I am partly posting this so the developer can see that it would be valued by users.
Otherwise, thanks for creating such a useful tool!

UK Government Censorship?
Think you live in a free country in the UK? You don’t. You can no longer listen to any radio outside of the UK…unless you use this app actually outside of the UK or use a VPN then, there’s no problem. Oh wait, that’s right, they’re trying to ban VPN’s in the UK. They claim it’s for some sort of copyright reason which is a crock. What a joke. I don’t believe a word. I just don’t buy the Sony legal cover story. I also note that in the UK you can also no longer get the RT (Russia Today) news channel. What is it they’re afraid of you hearing? Blatant censorship in a country that is anything but free. It ends when we withdraw our consent. Remember that.

Love the app - one recommendation - more favourite radios organisation like folders would be so good. I forget which radios are playing what and have to scroll down the list clicking loads until i remember.

I used to sometimes enjoy listening to radio stations from New Zealand where my son lives and other far away places my imagination took me.
Now for some reason access is denied to UK listeners. Goodbye then.
I’m hearing this uk ban is due to Sony lawyers. So what Sony thinks the ££ they are not getting from me by letting me listen to tin pot radio stations in the middle of the night I do not understand. My last two tvs have been Sony Trinitron, and Sony Bravia, and not actually that good either. The Bravia would not connect to network as advertised. My next TV will be from a different manufacturer. You see the goodwill is gone.

I had hoped that the authors of this excellent app would have at least listened to requests from UK listeners to be able to select stations outside the UK, but this hasn't happened in the latest release. And then, one day, we in the UK weren’t allowed to listen to radio from outside our lovely inwards-looking island. Great. Britain? Going backwards into obscurity :( It’s probably not the App’s problem so I’ve left the review at 3/5 because it was a good idea…once upon a time.

Love the app but needs updating by apple. it’s the best for music but apple needs to update the app as it keeps stopping on all channels every few minutes and you have to go back in to the app to start the music again as the what’s playing now display doesn’t work to re start the music when it’s screen locked or unlocked? Quite annoying to have to go back into the app as the music is stopping all the time so please update the app so I can enjoy the app again

I was really excited to be able to listen to radio from around the world. Only as I’m in the UK I can’t🤬. Apparently this is all thanks to Sony and some copyrighting case. Limited station availability in UK - thanks to Sony
While the rest of the world is able to use Internet radio as a way of getting a feel for what's happening in other countries. Sony thought it would be a great idea to cut the UK off from the rest of the world. Their greedy lawyers launched a court case in the UK on the basis of copyright, that left the British experience of Internet radio limited to stations already in the UK, because God forbid we would like to have a free and open experience while using the Internet. We now have to put up with the north Korean model on this front, thanks to Sony. The result is what should be a great app has very limited function. Thanks Sony, yet another blow has been struck by you, against freedom.

Was perfect until…..
Absolutely loved this app but now I’m getting a message that I can’t listen to any radio stations outside the UK. Obviously this isn’t the developers fault, it’s a copyright issue apparently. But what was brilliant, still is if you only want to search UK stations, now has lost its edge. If they get a way to be able to listen to the rest of the world again, I’ll change it to 5 stars.

When you click on a radio station outside of the country you are in you get a message telling you that you cannot listen to stations outside of your country. This totally defeats the purpose of the app which is to discover and listen to stations from around the world. I have emailed support and got no response. Was great - now pointless
I have used Radio Garden for ages to hear how news was reported around the world and to practice my languages. It was superb and unrivalled. In recent days, unfortunately, users in the UK can no longer listen to any stations outside the UK. There is no explanation from Radio Garden. It may be a music rights issue - in which case it is unfortunate but understandable. Now, to be any use, you have to use a VPN. At a time when people in different countries really do need to understand each other’s point of view it’s unfortunate Radio Garden for UK users is now just parochial.

Workaround to work for people in UK
Hi, so this app to work for us here in UK please download the Free VPN. The app has an icon with a shield and a green background. You can pay for it or just use it free by watching 6 ads wich is like 3 minutes in total and you have 24 hours access without anymore ads after this. After select any country besides UK and the app is working again and fully as it supposed to be working.
Is a bit of a bummer you have to do this but for 3 minutes to watch some ads and have 24 hours acces and you can listen to any radio in the world. Hope this helps.

Poor customer care
Downloaded Radio Garden to listen to foreign stations and paid to go ad’ free. I’ve been using and enjoying this app only a few short weeks to suddenly find that in the UK you can now only receive U.K radio stations. Radio Garden happy to take your money knowing they were cutting the service to the UK and no response to my request for a refund. A great app whilst it lasted but now absolutely useless if you reside in the UK.

An app like this is amazing to find and listen to new music you won’t find playing on typical radio in your country, and I adore the curation in app to find new stations.

Music is me and I am music. This has allowed us to engage with the world in the best language there is. It should be a crime that there aren’t enough ratings on this or downloads. Amazing app.
I been looking for a radio app that allows you to listen to all radio stations. Since I love to listen to Portuguese, Brazil, USA, Angola and British radio it's nice to have one app thag as all. I would rate more stars if i could.
I will definitely recommend this app to all my friends.
The only thing that would make the cherry at the top of the cake would be if it was a bit more car friendly, like I could change my favourite stations in the car controls. But it's still amazing app.

So lucky to find this app loads every station I wanted from Switzerland to the USA.
Brilliant being able to see the location of the station on a world map.

Fantastic app but…
Got this app for few weeks now and I love it. I gave it 4*for your “ no commercials promise as I instantly paid for Mo commercials upgrade. . So maybe I am owed an explanation? Why I still get commercials ? Otherwise you should rename this upgrade to “ fewer or occasional commercials “ maybe?
Also, big thing for me is when developer comments back and talk to their customers and you don’t respond to your customers comments, and that is another star gone .

Great app, one quibble
I haven’t figured out how to play the iPhone app output to my Sonos speakers. Is there some normal interface component missing? Stops me using it - I’ll use it to find a radio station then use another app to actually play it. Shame, cos I love the interface… except for the seemingly missing bit.

Wow! This Is Amazing!
I don’t review apps as a rule but this..THIS is the best app for discovering music around the world bar none. Not surprisingly the range of musical styles will blow your mind! Personally, I like rock music and one of my favourites is Radio LTB Rock in Istanbul that I am currently listening to on my very old Mac (yes, folks Radio Garden has a brilliant website) so there is no excuse not to have this app at work either..or in your home office during these trying times. I have Adblocker installed on my Mac and AdGuard when using the app via Safari on the iPhone and, bingo! No ads. However, if there is a way to donate some cash to the developers I will do. They are providing a really positive thing for music lovers. I, for one don’t want to travel anywhere abroad at the moment because of different rules regarding COVID tests and the like. Stay safe and travel the world from your bed, sofa or computer chair. You won’t regret it! Rock on!🤘

Listen To The World On Your Phone!
This is superb! I used to be a DXer on shortwave radio in my teens. This app is so cool - I can now "glide around the world" & listen to radio stations from all over the place - much easier than turning a dial & listening through the static 👍😀
It's very responsive, and the menus are very easy to use.
This will now also become my "Music App of Choice" whilst running... and when churning through spreadsheets on my laptop.
p.s. it's worth paying a couple of quid to support the developers & remove the ads.

Cannot close the advert on iPhone 12 mini
Great app but have delete it from my phone every time an ad pops up. It’s impossible to close the ad on the iPhone 12 mini using the X in the top corner. Hope it can be resolved.

Best world radio app ever
The interface of this app couldn’t be simpler. Rotate the world and select a station. I can feel like I’m on holiday when I’m at work, or I can listen to what is interesting people on the other side of the world and even small remote island radio and community stations. Highly recommended app 👏👏👏👏

Already cool but it could be cooler
This a super cool app and reminds me of the times as a youngster spinning the dial on my short wave radio (young people, google it).
However, it could be even cooler if it was CarPlay compatible and GPS linked. Lock it to one station or let it roam as you drive or allow your passengers to scroll around the world. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Very good radio app
I travel a lot so having my favourite radio stations available wherever I go without having to download individual radio station apps, is a real boon. It also gives a list of the most popular stations to listen to wherever you are which is also useful.
Simple to use with very good quality reception even on slow WiFi and 3G and has a great map style interface.

I’ve just downloaded this app and wondered how I haven’t heard of it before. Exploring the worlds radio stations is a joy. I have a couple of recommendations, 1). The best ever app
This app is brilliant. I’m listening to beautiful old jazz from Chicago on Arctic Outpost am 270 right now. This morning I was listening to an NYC dance music station. You spin the globe, pick a nation and hunt for a station you like. There are thousands of them. Absolutely superb. Norwegian Folktronica, anyone?

This app brings all my dream radio stations together from all around the world! In the UK we are so restricted on radio stations and access to any kind of foreign music and I’ve been longing to listen to music from all countries and cultures I love! This app is bringing it all together and in restricted movement times like now it’s a perfect companion to help you relive the great moments associated with other cultures and countries. It’s a brilliant app and I am also very happy to pay for it - it’s work every penny! Highly and sincerely recommended and a big thank you to the creators ! ❤️❤️

Love the app but the new update is horribly broken
I love this app, it is one of my favourites as I love music and love radio and love exploring other cultures. The old version worked perfectly but this new update has wrecked it just to make it look nicer. The globe freezes and glitches out when you try to use your thumb to explore around the world so now it’s a total faff to find other stations meaning now my only options are the stations I had saved as my favourites. Please fix

Possibly the best app out there
I only downloaded this app yesterday, but so far I’ve been mightily impressed. It’s certainly a major rival to Tunein Radio app, it could even be better. Either way, it’s definitely worth downloading in my opinion

The whole world at your fingertips - like another reviewer mentioned, takes you back to your childhood - scanning through the frequencies - listening to some random station from somewhere out in the big world ... magic!

A must have app
As a child in the pre-internet era I loved to tune my way across short wave bands to see what radio stations I could discover. This app brings that into the 21st century with a clarity of sound that I never got in that bygone era. The app is free but I had no hesitation in paying £1.99 for the ad free version - not because I was bothered by the ads but because I wanted to support this developer in his amazing work. A real must have app. If I have a criticism it’s that there is no easy access to a list of stations you mark as favourites

Awesome Radio App
This app is superb, thank you😀. I’m trying to learn another language like a native so I’m spoiled for choice now, couldn’t be easier locating the stations I want, paid the £2 on this basis...😀. If you take requests Glasgow’s Clyde 1 FM added would be the cherry on top!.
