Brilliant game countless hours spent of fun . I would like their to be a transferable feature of gold to the crystals as I am maxed out and have no upgrades left still entertaining with the new Egypt expansion ,I would like to see it expand to the height of the empire and add england to the campaign .

Really enjoying the game so far, however I wanted to buy the best hero which cost 400 gems and I had saved up around 250, so I bought the stater pack which contained 100 gems in order to get there quicker as gems are very hard to come by, directly after purchasing the pack the game crashed and when I reloaded I had exactly 100 gems and had lost the 250 i had been saving, additionally all of the money I had saved had vanished as of yet nothing else has changed. But losing so much progress has been very disheartening. Aswell as this, the potions used to upgrade said hero’s are incredibly difficult to get and I don’t know if it is possible to get them unless using gems.

This game is perfect for people who like tycoons and war it’s also an amazing game it’s self. But there is some things that could be added like better graphics or make it 3D that would be awesome. Need more maps and challenges

Nice game, but too easy to get most of the challenges cleared. Would like some major updates with new soldiers, levels, maps and more. For hard core users it gets reparative pretty quickly. one of my favorite mobile games but…

this is a very time consuming game however there is bugs and sometimes you dont have anything to do because the how expensive 90% of the things you buy are it took me 20 minutes to elvel up my guys and the enemys you play against have much more health because you have to do multiple paths so it may sometimes get a bit annoying

Micro Transactions are quite expensive if your the kind to buy them.

Other than very very good little game and well put together.

Very easy to use mechanics and simple to get the hand of. A lot of upgrade to aim for to keep you engaged. No forced adverts. If you do watch an ad you get coins/crystals in return.

Great game but .

This game is great and fun to play when you have spare time, but the rewards you get from killing, chests or completing battles are just too little. Its got to the point that I have to play 20 rounds just to upgrade!!! Please developers if you read this acknowledge this issue.

Pretty good game but I wish there were more options.

This is a good game where you can take time off doing things and relax by taking over other civilisations or defending against them with your Roman army. I think that the ads are a bit long but that’s normal since it’s for advertising and you only have to pay like £3 on the starter bundle for them to go away permanently. ( any purchase in game means they will go away ) The reason why I rated it three stars is because I think that there should be more options in game. What I mean by this is that Mabe you could choose formations for your troops to attack in and for them to STAY in throughout the battle because I find it annoying that when they attack they are quite scattered since the romans didn’t do that. I also thought that it would be cool if you could start from civilisations that used slightly different weapons and attacked differently. Mabe you could do this by introducing tactics in the game. In addition to this, I think that if you added an online mode so you could attack other, real life people it would make it more fun. Mabe you could also add terrain to the battlefield so cavalry charges downhill would be a lot faster and deadlier whereas uphill they would be useless to spearman. Of course don’t make this overpowered but you could give like a 5% buff from the terrain types. Furthermore, I think it would be cool if you added giant battles that happened every hour ( this would only work with an online mode ) and people could choose formations and the different civilisations could back each other or you could have a giant Roman army of cavalry and spearman against an Egyptian army of infantry and skirmishers. Right now it’s quite similar to another game which I forgot the name of and other games so I think if you added thinks that three didn’t have your game would succeed greatly. Finally, I think if you added more heroes Mabe for different civilisations etc It would be really cool and they could control different units. Mabe for like England you could have Boudicca and for Egypt cleopatra or Tutankhamen for example. Overall I thought that this is a good game but I think that there are so many opportunities to do with this an expand this so it becomes a GREAT game. I love this game loads; however…..

I love this game, I have been playing it for ages now and I love the idea behind it and the game theory; however, I think it should be easier to earn coins the further you progress rather than having to spend xp to get more coins from colonies or units. Stop asking for my details

The adds I could deal with, but now when I open the game it wants me to consent to share my info with thousands of 3rd parties. I could go through the list of all of them unticking the legitimate interest button but that will take ages and I shouldn’t have to.

I will never press consent so either add a reject all button or make it not show up at all or I’m never gunna play the game again.

I love the new update okay love everything except the animation style it is a real let down it went from a pretty good looking animation and now it looks like a 2d game that you get when you cross a stickman game with a Tower Defense Empire builder Game I really preferred the old graphics can you change it back?

Fun at the start but you will have to spend!

I’m currently on level 381 for defending and 71 for the invasion map. I have spent £15 on the game so far.

It’s got to the point in which I either have to spend a lot more money(£100+) or simply wait for days for my money to build up.

The enemies simply get too strong with so many units attacking you that it’s no longer worth playing. It’s a fun game at the start but it becomes a point when you have to start pumping money into the game.

Great game BUT

This is a really enjoyable game but the developers have made it way too expensive to progress.

If you don’t buy the add-on packs and gems, it’s virtually impossible to progress in the game. The gold, experience points and gems you earn increase in tiny increments compared to the cost of upgrading your army.

Takes the fun out of playing.

You have to spend countless hours playing to upgrade units. Gets to a point where it’s 200k upgrading a unit, when you earn <10k per wave and get 200 per minute from owning settlements. Do the maths and they are clearly encouraging people to buy add-ons.

Fair enough, if you enjoy playing you might consider spending a few £s buying an add-on pack. But the price of add-ons is ridiculous. Some are priced at £100. A PlayStation game costs £60. Why would i spend that on a pretty basic app game?

Don’t get greedy. It’s a game preying on addiction.

Good however

I love this game, however the money to spending ratio is the problem that lets this game down, fair enough upgrading your troops and your defences will cost a lot of cold however the ratio to earning that gold to be able to level up your troopers is literally nothing even after you’ve max the kill perk and the colony money you still get hardly no money what’s so ever so it makes it near impossible to upgrade a trooper that’s 400k plus ! And then you get stuck with no where to go because you’re dying constantly and no money to get better troopers so the game just gets frustrating and boring I hope they bring out and update to fix this issue so you can actually earn a decent amount of money or lower the prices of troopers like one minute they’ll cost 79k and then after you’ve spent that they’ll cost £200k and then it literally doubled where as your money isn’t you’re earning 4k if that every wave it doesn’t add up and the game for me is now just boring no where to go

Ranged units 🙈

It’s a good game and I would really recommend it but the problem is whenever I go to waves the enemy would stock up on large amount of ranged units until about 50 and then whenever you send out units to defend bam dead which is why I can never win a single game on them because they're so over powered which makes it impossible to win😩. But really good game.

This game is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I only got it today, but I had like a year or 2 ago and really enjoyed it back then. It’s easy to get progress but there’s difficult challenges in the game as well. I would recommend the game for everyone. 😀👍

An outstanding game

This game is not only an amazing example to all games, not only mobile ones, that you can not pay and still win; but it is also an awesome strategy game. I love the use of the Roman Empire in the game as history references are rarely used as well as this game has. I have only just downloaded this game and it is already one of my favourite mobile games ever and I play LOTS of games. Thank you for creating a great game with a great example: you shouldn’t have to pay to win.

Other games could learn from the ads in this game

You can play a good few rounds before an ad pops up, it is not every few seconds like other games and the ads are only 5 seconds long, 30 second ads only if you chose to watch for a reward.

I enjoy this game a lot

I have been playing for only a couple of days yet I enjoy this game a lot it’s definitely the best Roman themed game on the AppStore ,

However there are only 4 enemy army’s Italian provinces,Carthage, the Gauls (France)

And the Spanish which is cool but it would be nice if in an update they could add brittania (who would have chariots obviously ) , it’s not a necessary update but it would be nice to have some more variation in enemy army’s , I do like that the backdrop changes depending on where you are for example , the alps is snowy and Carthage is a desert, it adds some much needed variation.

I would totally recommend this game hence 5/5 stars :)

Absolute hidden gem

After going through sooo many garbage mobile games with so much lag that I can’t play,which practically makes them ad after ad after ad after ad. You get the point, most mobile games are genuine cr@p.. except for this and probably some other games. With hardly any ads or lag or even bad gameplay, that would already make it give me 4 stars. On top of that there’s a lot. So 5 stars.

Just to know I’m only on round 50 or so, so I’m not a veteran so I might be wrong later.

As epic as the Romans!

Great free game, why can’t all developers have the same attitude when making games?!. The option is there to purchase items but it’s not essential, certainly early on anyway. It’s fun to play and cleverly done. Adds are not constant and optional at times. Top marks to the creators. I’d download a lot more games if there was more quality like this about. 👍🏻

Great Fun But Then Gets Monotonous

Initially, well done the developers for a game with virtually ZERO adverts.

It is an absolute pleasure to play a game that you spend more time playing than watching cr@p adverts, or being forced to purchase options to move forward.

I have bought a couple of times, but not because I was forced to.

Unfortunately, by the time you get to Level 300, it all just becomes the same attack and defence to win, and so I am now bored.

Worth downloading though as it is fun, but just try not to over-play it make it last...

Good fun!

Great game for upgrading and really feeling like you’re building up a small army to defend your city. Lots of passive perks to unlock in addition to multiple hero’s to fight along side you. If this isn’t enough you can even raid nearby settlements in increasing difficulty and defend those in mini games to earn more valuable resources.

The most addicting mobile game I’ve ever played

This game is incredibly well built! I can’t fault the in app game play it’s very well designed and very addictive.

I only have one thing id suggest to improve it which would be when you’re fighting a new wave have different values or load times for different units (as in to make them in effect more or less expensive per wave im aware different units have different stats and advantages) as I’ve found that I predominantly just use cavalry with a few others here and there as they seem to be highly advantageous over other troops regardless

A grind

Starts off well and enjoyable but becomes frustrating after awhile. It takes a long time to get the gold needed to update and you suffer defeat after defeat which becomes frustrating. You are also subjected to endless videos adverts which this game is just just designed to do. I must have seen kings of Avalon a 1000 times. ventually You earn a lot of gold but you can’t spend it on anything, once your troops are maxed out you can’t do anything to improve them. Game becomes a total waste of time. Guy who runs this should get a kick up the backside

I think this game is EPIC! But, I think a update should be that you can send request for local players to help you in battle. Also you have a clan where you can work together to defeat an enemy so say the celts, where you then can fight for victory. Love this game!!

This is one of the best games I own on my phone!! Being able to grow and train your forces whilst taking over land and a tilt being able to see the differences and I love how your fort changes as you level up😁

hopefully you guys can keep improving the game with new terrains and more ways to earn cash?

So far so good

I like this game so far. Haven’t encountered the ram issue others have mentioned, but maybe I just need to reach much higher levels. It builds up at a nice pace, and is easy to understand. There are depths to this game which are not covered in the simple introduction, like rebellions, which are useful to figure out.

Loved playing the game

Had at least a month of gameplay waiting for upgrades and maxing everything so far everything is 100% completed expect the arrow game, where you get a free hero every 5 games but can’t get past a certain level so kinda at a loss 😂 other than that love the game :D

Love this game

Honestly this is one of the only good free to play games, no I’m not a bot. This game is great fun and I’m reasonably far without a single micro transaction, also the adverts are few and far between as-well as being short and not actually that terrible. I’m really happy with this game and thinks it deserves me to review it well. Thank you developers!

Good game and all but...

So this is a great game for all ages, where you can upgrade your empire and home base, attack cities and build up an army. However, I didn’t log on to it for a while and after a week or so it spammed notifications about a bank being full and I needed to log on. I ended up deleting the game as it spammed roughly 25 notifications for every 30 seconds.

Decent game, excellent free to play model, one exception

This is an excellent free to play game. The gameplay is enjoyable, you can play for free for absolutely ages and there’s no getting smacked around by higher level players to try and incentivise you to spend real world money. Both the defence clans offence modes are quite fun and the combat is simple to learn but offers some decent scope for tactics that can really boost your effectiveness if you pull them off.

On the downside the mission aspect when you take control of a single roman archer needs some work. The controls for this are quite frustrating and the hit boxes on the enemies aren’t very clear. Apart from this the game is excellent

Very enjoyable game

I like the game! It has a theme I love (the Romans) and has enough variety not to get boring too soon. Of course, as in common with most free games there is a scarce resource (the jewels), but you can still play- and progress in the game- without investing real money, although of course it takes so much longer.

But all in all a brilliant little game.

Addictive!

It really is an amazing game, it has me hooked, I can’t even check my device without going on it. It’s graphics aren’t the best, but the mechanics really make up for it, there a quite a lot of things to do, it never overwhelms you, and is actually a good game if your bored. Like the rebellion mechanic is a great practise method, as it helps you train without your important defence, also the conquering system, as it can help you in your defensive position. My list goes on and on, it really is a terrific game, definitely should try it.

Great game, but...

This is a truly time consuming and addictive game, always been into these kind of games and massively into Roman history so this game is perfect for me, very well executed and simplistic. The massive issue I have that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is as other people have pointed out; the daily missions, or more specifically the ram from Gaul onwards, it’s infuriating when you have clearly hit the red circle but it doesn’t register, then the other troops end up inside of it which makes it almost impossible. Please do something about this, just a few small tweaks and this game would be perfect.

Also looking forward to different editions of this style of game by the developers.

Gets boring

So, the game itself is good. In my opinion, there genuinely aren't any problems with it. However, it does get repetitive quickly. I played it for around 1 week or 2 and then just left it. But that's just me. The other currency, as I call them 'gems' are also very hard to get and require a lot of grinding to get. Gems are used to buy things like mercenaries and heroes, and unfortunately they are very costly.

Needs update ASAP

Great game but is ruined with the daily quests as when you reach the end to unlock a new hero you have to defeat a siege ram which is almost impossible to do as the hit box’s are very small and when the au goes through it your arrow hits them instead. Also the colonies are a waste of time as they don’t produce hardly any money as I have 20% of the map done all fully upgraded and I’m not even earning 1k. Other then these issues it’s a very fun game that’s the first mobile game that’s not pay to win.

Update:

I have upgraded the bank so now I earn more than 1k but have run into another problem. You can’t destroy any village from 71 upwards as the ranged enemy’s kill anything before you can get close. I also have my troops upgraded nearly to the max and even spent money to get the mercenaries but I still can’t do anything. Needs an update soon!

I love this game and only one thing I would add

I really like this game and would recommend but I really wish they would add an ability to rally my troops because when defending against the waves my troops go to far out and the archers don’t have the range to shoot them which is a problem considering the amount of coin I’ve put into them

Great fun, and worth spending money on

I never spend cash on games normally, unless they are exceptional. This game is very addictive and entertaining. My suggestions for the developer are as follows: More humour please, including the sound effects. Having weather and seasonal options would be amazing, blizzards accumulating on units and slowing them down, or random lightning strikes taking out units would be fun. Maybe dying of thirst in hot weather... Also, more quirky heroes, maybe Thor or Loki. Finally, please can you develop a medieval and a WWII edition? I have so many ideas to help you if you’d like to discuss them with me, please get in touch!

Great game.

I love this game but you should reduce the time on the challenges 30 minutes and do a power walk that makes all of the soldiers get in formation of a Square with the back by putting the shield on There head on the front row put the shield in front of them. I think you should unlock it when you first get in the shield

A shining example

This game is a perfect example of how a free to play game with micro transactions can work well. The game can be played perfectly well without having to buy into any of the micro transactions, which are there only to alleviate a bit of the grind. By grind I mean playing one of the main aspects of the game, the wave system. You must defend your wall by choosing the correct cohort to send out to counter the enemy’s units. The premium currency is easily attainable, and can be quickly earned through the defence of your colonies, and by reaching certain waves.

Definitely a step forward in the free to play mobile gaming market. Well done!

Good but need changes

The game ideology and idea of the game is brilliant however hero’s need a massive buff or don’t have crystals to upgrade them in the late game there worthless. The daily rewards are a good idea. However putting people in front of the ram is horrible to go against because the people block the ram and because there slower they go inside it so you can’t shoot the rams certain weak spots or the people/ enemy troops. The game is great but needs a lot of buffs and nerfs.

Simply amazing

I downloaded it and I can’t stop playing it, it’s just a brilliant little game only thing I wish is that there were more troop variations for yourself and the enemy and more heroes. Also maybe like daily challenges to earn gems and large amounts of gold as upgrades get very expensive later on

Amazing game

This game has an amazing concept and great execution, the game however says ‘+35 different Roman troops to research’ I have now fully unlocked and researched them all and there’s only 25ish. If they finish the research and add higher level spearman and javalin men then it would have a deeper and longer game with a bigger achievement for the troops. Also the enemy cavalry is too powerful, I have fully upgraded spearman but it still takes 3 to kill 1. If these things came out in a future update Im sure it would deserve 5 stars but it does let it down a little. Keep up the good work :)

Good but grindy...

Quite addictive, however, the latter stages of the game find you grinding a great deal, when you get to around round 250 and your spear men cost 200k and you only earn 5k per attack; it takes a while, the earn you make isn’t a great deal either.... that said, it’s a pretty game for what it is and it doesn’t force you to buy gems, although that option is available.
