The apple app is very good
Nice and easy to use, i use automatic connection so it start as soon as i get on wifi.
Unlike with the desktop app i don't have to often disconnect and reconnect to actually have internet access after activating the vpn. Great!

I know the speed would drop a bit while using VPN, but honestly it is so bad and lagging . I’m using the fastest connections option on vodafone carrier and vodafone home wifi. But now I’m stuck 3y with surfshark. Do not recommend at all !!

Stops almost all my apps from loading anything
Netflix refuses to work when the VPN is turned on - both on IOS and PC. Annoying when all adverts say use Surfshark to watch content on Netflix in other countries. Can’t even watch my own country’s content never mind anyone else’s.
Makes browser incredibly slow and more than half of webpages just won’t load when the VPN is active.

Servers that are blocking then disconnecting encrypted traffic!?
I’m in a shared connection with limited connectivity due to the server blocking and then disconnecting ALL encrypted traffic.
I don’t know how to solve this problem as I refuse to use the internet without a VPN as it’s too risky.

Stopped working
Up until today this app worked well on my tv with the Firestick but it has now stopped working. All the channels I could usually access stopped being accessible. I have a paid a years subscription and I find this disappointing.
Having been in touch with your support and tried everything they instructed me do, it still does not work. Sadly am into the second year of subscription and will be looking at finding an alternative as this doesn’t do what it is supposed to. This year it has been a waste of money.

Not good for some UK apps
I used to swear by this app the last 18 months but unfortunately now BBC iPlayer & even Netflix are not working reliably with the UK Vpn. Customer service is 5* though, they try their best to support and reply within 24hrs! Until the last 2 months it worked with iPlayer flawlessly (apart from when updates needed but that’s a quick fix) but now it’s hit and mostly miss!

Not great!
At first the VPN performed pretty well but it’s slowly doing my head in now. When browsing Google you get that annoying CAPTCHA on virtually every UK server. I just don’t have time for this every single time anymore. Furthermore all BBC apps seems to be blocked on the servers. Facebook app doesn’t perform well with the VPN on either. Many other websites simply just do not work. I suppose you get what you pay for. I was lured in by the initial fast performance and purchased a 27 month subscription in their Black Friday offer. I now wish I didn’t. This vpn service is more hassle than it’s worth and constantly turning on and off to access sites defeats the purpose of it. I can’t recommend this to anyone and I might cut my losses and pick another provider with regret..

I must admit, I’ve always been a tad sceptic when it comes to downloading, and using, a VPN and truth be told, I’ve always thought my knowledge too small to use one. However, after having spent the last 24 years living in another country than that of my birth (and now also outside of the EU 😢), I’ve found it increasingly difficult to watch any of my native channels and programs.
I was recommended to download Surfshark and here we are. Three weeks into using it and I have no complaints what-so-ever. I use the app on my iPad and SMART TV and they work an absolute treat. It’s easy and very straightforward.
I opted for the £9.99/month offer as I didn’t want to commit to a year-long subscription before trying it but if this is how it’s going to work, I will pay a year-long subscription next year.

Do NOT buy if you want to use it for UK!,,
Please be aware that it does NOT work for UK app’s, such as Sky, iPlayer, etc. Been on two trips and both times we’re not able to use any UK apps! Numerous correspondence with suppor, who depending on time of da, will get back to you in 24 hours. However, they do not answer questions and keep telling you that you can use VPN for other things!? I’m not interested in other things - I’m interested in watching my UK apps when abroad!
In the end they accepted that it did not work, but they were working on it? Still not working!
And no, you can not get your money back!
Again, if you want to use it for UK - buy something else. This is confirmed by their support!!!

Great, most of the time
I am very security conscious and aware of how personal data is leaked to commercial companies which then use this to exploit you. So, I look to minimise my exposure to any platform capable of exploiting me with my own data. Surf Shark is excellent in how it does this and I use it constantly on my iOS and windows devices.
1. Occasionally I find I have to switch it off and on again or even uninstall it from my iOS device as it just refuses to connect. This is a little irksome.
2. Streaming is the biggest issue I have with surf shark as Netflix works fine but Amazon video and Sky Go will not work unless Surf Shark is off and these are the companies I most wish to minimise my exposure to. I always check that I’m on a UK server as all my accounts are uk based. No matter the configuration, I cannot stream.
3. It would be nice if Surf Shark could develop a smart tv VPN version as I have a number of devices which are all used to stream and web surf and only occasionally used to watch terrestrial tv.
Thanks Surf Shark for a great affordable VPN solution. I hope you can improve your offering over time to make it better and maintain its relevance before Crowdstrike release an affordable domestic offering.

One of the best VPN Options
I’ve had Surfshark for over a year at this point and quite honestly, I can’t fault it. As someone who keeps their VPN on almost constantly, I’ve never spontaneously lost my connection and it remains fast when compared to other VPN’s I’ve used in the past.
The app is easy to use and it’s great that you can use the VPN on an unlimited number of devices. For the minor issues I’ve had in the past the customer service has been impeccable, with my issues being resolved almost immediately.
As a final note, the price of this VPN is very affordable, especially when compared to others of its kind - there are also frequent discounts and offers that enable you to purchase it at an even cheaper price. If you’re looking to stay secure online, I can’t recommend this VPN enough.

Much better than before
When I first got this VPN earlier in 2021 it was great until the trial phase, moneyback phase ended. Things went downhill fast. Sooo many technical issues, support kept sending me around in circles and I was stuck with a VPN service I had paid for. I was angry.
After a break and returning to this VPN seeming as I have already paid for it, things have been much better. Much better for both desktop and mobile. Hardly any issues and fast.
Third party websites might be getting more fussy about traffic from VPN especially Wireguard but IKEv2 is working well to keep the Internet usable for me.

Connection was not the greatest. As someone living in the UK, connecting anywhere else cause my connection to plumit. Now granted the support team was incredibly helpful. I just don’t see why after spending over £40, there’s are so many settings I have to tweak. If you are a set and forget type of consumer then I would not recommend. But if you don’t mind playing with settings and adjusting features just to get a better connection and speed then I guess this is okay. Rating 3 starts just due to how good the support team is.

When it works, it’s great
When this app works it’s great. But that’s not very often I have found. On my iPad and iPhone it will frequently require me to reconnect the VPN otherwise the internet won’t work. I’ve tried all protocols and all present this problem. This really needs fixed as it’s been an issue for a long time and other VPN apps don’t have this issue. I don’t use SurfShark on iOS devices due to this and if not fixed I will not renew my subscription. The VPN needs turned on and left, not to have to be deactivated everyday or every other day.
Please fix this. It’s been an issue for too long.

So easy and works great
Have been using this for almost a year now, thought I’d give it a proper go before reviewing. Really nice appearance - layout/colours etc, options are easy to find. Works great, links up to any country quickly and efficiently, no problems whatsoever. I found Surfshark to be quite a bit cheaper than the other ‘big’ vpn providers and when I took up the extra year that was offered at sign up I’ve saved even more. So to summarise, I am very happy with the service, the price and the ease of use!

Shady auto renewal
It's been ok, but just had an auto renew email telling me that they will try to take nearly a hundred pounds from my account in four weeks. The only way to cancel this is by emailing the virgin islands and hoping that I have better luck than the other people on here complaining about this.
Update: they answered my email within half an hour and cancelled the renewal, I'm actually quite impressed by that.

Great, to good, to turned off.
When I first got the app it was excellent. Worked seamlessly in the background and improved my viewing with removing all of the same ads.
Sadly overtime it’s resulting in absolutely chocking my WiFi to the point I can’t have the vpn running on my iPad while having anything else or or it buffers both. For context without the vpn on I can run an iPad, 2 phone, my partner streaming tv while I game online.
This hit the low point 2 weeks ago where it no longer works for watching tv shows out with my region and even in my region streaming services won’t work due to the vpn proxy. I haven’t used the service now for a few weeks. It’s a shame as it was a great service and felt value for money but now it’s just off. I now wouldn’t recommend.

Reliable fast and cheap
Can’t ask for more. Have been using for 2 months and so far so good. No stuttering or dropped connections. Fast and effective. Have a 3 year plan so hoping it stays like that. It has good days and bad days.
I find that generally everything runs relatively well under Surfshark and in its price point good value for money.
Problems start to come in with some ISP's setting certain restrictions that the VPN is unable to bypass, which is not a Surfshark issue, it’s an ISP issue, that want to try and control more about what you do.
As a rule most things run fine, but, the longer the VPN has been up for the slower it gets and eventually, it’s a case that it needs to be refreshed. As that time gets shorter, you become aware that a new update is a couple of days away.

Absolutely hate it
I should have tried the 7 day trial before trusting the reviews on the internet but I fell for it. This vpn has made my internet extremely slow. I have to turn it off while downloading or uploading anything what’s the use then?
The picture quality becomes so poor, and prime detects this VPN so I have to turn it off. I have had asked multiple times to cancel my subscription but they keep asking to send screenshots and tell you how to fix it. Just accept it it’s not good. Won’t recommend to anyone. Next time I’ll go for a better and expensive VPN lol.

Inconsistent
At the start, it worked really well. Now it doesn’t work at all. It gets to about 50% connection, kicks you off your wifi and tells you that you’re not connected to the internet. “Help” tells you to change the protocol to automatic and would you believe it changes nothing. Good luck to those who plan to use Surfshark, I hope you get better luck

Seems a bit buggy.
When it works, this is a great and fast application to ensure online privacy. However, every so often, it just stops working so that one can no longer connect to any server. The last time it happened, it turned out that I needed to update the app. Now it has happened again, but my app is up to date. None of the usual solutions, eg deleting and re-installing the app, work. A disappointment.

How Nord and Xpress VPN used to be.
Below is my previous 5 star review, sadly this app is now critically broken.
Please ignore their generic responses on here of “this is easy to solve please contact us at our success team” etc. The app went from flawless to utterly useless with the issues described below on all the other 1 star reviews - avoid until they sort their protocols etc out.
Go back 18 months and Nord VPN and Xpress VPN were the go to choice for fast effective VPNs. They each have there base in a country that meant that they kept no logs to ensure your privacy and were a fair price. But then they got greedy and proceeded to advertise everywhere and prices went up but with no justification for this other than to make even more money and to cover there advertising budgets. In steps Shark, it’s a no log country (BVI) and provides a top rate service with 24 hour live chat support and best of all it’s a reasonable price, in effect if you want the abilities of Nord and Xpress VPN with non greedy prices this is the VPN. Doing research online my sentiments seem to be echoed in most quarters (not the blogs and sites that are paid to give Nord and Xpress the top spots but proper tech sites like Cnet and Techradar etc)with this service being the best newcomer and giving the old guard a run for their money.

Dreadful service - AVOID the Sharks!
Don’t believe the hype, go elsewhere for secure and reliable VPN.
Once you’re past the 30 day money back period the service becomes so unreliable the connection drops 3 or 4 times per hour at irregular intervals, and often reconnection is not possible at all.
The Surfsharks will try to blame everything other than themselves but everything works fine when not attempting to use their service. Connect and it’s slow, or the kill switch fails, or no connection at all for days.
Customer service chatbot insists you jump through 101 different pointless tests (including requesting personal and private details when they know full well you are not connected securely) which then completely screw with your internet settings with there’s nothing to show for it other than 7 hours wasted and having to call your ISP to fix all the stuff they insisted you change. And still no service, and you guessed it, refund refused.
There’s a reason the introductory offer is low - because it’s simply not a reliable, secure service. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

I am very happy with this VPN. I’ve been using it for 3 months by now. After the first month I started to have problems so I contacted the customer support because I wanted to cancel my subscription. But one of the customer assistances asked me several questions to understand why it wasn’t working and finally after 40/50 minutes we were able to identify the problem: the DNS of my device. I had no idea what was it but after I changed the DNS, the VPN started to work perfectly again. So the problem wasn’t the app, but my device. I am very happy about this app and also about the customer service I received. I’ll be loyal to this company forever. Thank you Surfshark team!!!

Won't renew
I decided on Surfshark as it has the best review score on App Store and has several positive reviews on the internet. I'm not sure why, as my internet speed is less than a third down while using an iPhone and almost impossible to use on Apple TV and worse on Sony Bravia AF9. Now, I wouldn't, even more, lower speeds if I could use the Smart DNS - but Netflix and other services recognise the provided DNS as a shady one and refuse to play any content. Maybe I would be enough with my phones built-in scramble when on wifi. Also, even though the data they collect is not connected to me, they're still using more data than most I looked at.

Don’t like the privacy messages
I signed up for vpn, but every time I turn on via the app, I’m given various messages about how my privacy is being invaded by various companies.
So that darken the mood before I even get started. I wish the app would just do what it’s supposed to rather than give me facts ,that I would not have been reminded about. Besides ,If I hadn’t known these, I wouldn’t be using vpn

Would be amazing if it didn't drain battery!
I love my Surfshark subscription but I am seriously considering uninstalling it from my devices. For some reason it draws significant battery even though it only runs in the background! I am getting approximately 15-20% less battery life both on my iPhone and my iPad and it also shows in my battery usage. This is insane! I hope Surfshark fixes this quickly, else I might look for another provider.

Do not purchase for restricted countries. No refund given
I purchased and used the app in the UK but with the purpose of using it in a country with restrictive measures. It worked in the UK but when I moved the app did not work. Having spoken to the customer service, I tried +10 other solutions by then (each with an inconvenient, complicated and unfriendly user interface) and none of them worked.
Surfshark refused to refund the 2 year subscription after only using it for 2 months.
DO NOT BUY IF WANTING TO USE IN A RESTRICTED COUNTRY. WASTE OF MONEY!

Mixed review
When I first subscribed to Surfshark, I thought it worked well, but lately have found I the occasions when and devices I can use it on are greatly reduced. I often experience several attempts to connect and no connection. Customer service though pleasant and helpful in manner haven’t been able to resolve my issues, hence the mixed review.

When connected to vpn, my internet disconnects every time. Have tried manual login, still disconnects my internet. Tried to send a ticket to support but failed. Totally unhappy with this app. I signed up for 2 years and want my money back!

Mostly seamless, but huge battery drain
After trying a few free VPN’s I bit the bullet and went paid-for and it was a revelation! Surfshark is speedy and mostly seamless (I do find every now and then I have to disconnect & reconnect to get my internet working again) and the ad blocker is worth the subscription alone. My biggest complaint however is the battery drain, my “last 10 days” lists Surfshark as the largest overall battery user at 28%, with some days as high as 35% which means that sometimes I’m having to do a top-up charge during the day which is a real deal-breaker for me unfortunately.

Worth it but a bit buggy recently
I had no problems for the first several months and have found the app great to use. However in the last month or two I’ve had a lot of problems connecting or losing connection. Hopefully the new update will solve that.

Would you consider creating a spam call blocker with in your app specifically for your app version? This is a great VPN. Works better on mobile than Windows. Until recently been perfect all round.
Had an issue and Customer Support were easy to contact via the app or web and were responding straight away to all my messages even at 1am on a Sunday morning! Got it fixed quick. Very impressed with their response and comms. A company you can trust.

Downloaded this 5 days ago took advantage of the great value 3 year subscription. What can I say - really impressed with this - the regular email tips are interesting and can help you fine tune the VPN. Since activating the Cleanweb I have noticed a big reduction in junk mail and no annoying adds. Download speeds are great, no issues with streaming.

Brutally honest review
I tried the 7 day trail and I am unimpressed, this VPN has a few things going for itself that other VPN don’t, but, unfortunately it’s painfully slow, also all their IP addresses they use have been hit by radar/range bans from all major streaming services so it’s really just useful for watching foreign ads
The onion VPN method would be good in theory but if we completely ignore the slow connection speed and take a look at their small server list its possible you can connect to the same VPN twice, I personally did when looking at their eastern europe servers...
However, I do believe its great value for money, but personally its not worth having... no matter how much money you do or don’t spend on a VPN your browsing cookies, device fingerprint and ISP will always remain the familiar spy

Terrible Experience
I decided to try Surfsharks one week free trial. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get all the features to work for me, I couldn’t manage to get it to cast to an devices and could only watch on my phone. Therefore I decided to cancel at the end of my trial period. I cancelled using the live chat function and was told my account was successfully cancelled and no money would be taken. However the very next day my account was charged for the year!! Surfshark has claimed the highest payment possible from my cancelled account! Upon contacting them they stated they could not refund me and I would need to take the issue up with iTunes/Apple instead. I then had to spend hours going back and forth with Apple and they are still unsure if they are permitted to refund as it was surfsharks mistake....
An absolute disaster ... very disappointed and would sadly not recommend..
Surfshark, please ensure you fix your systems so that payments can not be taken from cancelled accounts!

Was great, now a disaster
For the first few months was exception and all the functions worked..... then.... it all has gone wrong. I can not tell you how many emails I’ve had from the string of customer service people at surfshark, the response times are fairly good but I have now spent HOURS reconnecting, disconnecting, changing settings, manually configuring, deleting the app and reinstalling and wasting loads of time... all to no avail.
I paid for the service a 27 month subscription and am DEFINITELY NOT actually getting that service.
Like I say, started off really well, but is now not even worth having the app taking up space on my phone and iPad... waste of space and battery power. I’d give it zero now if I could.
Shame as had it keep working as well as it did it would have been a 5 star service and app.

Keeps disconnecting my WiFi
I’ve been using surfshark for a while now but the past few weeks, every time I connect to the service it causes my WiFi to completely disconnect and go to 4g. As soon as I disconnect the VPN my WiFi reconnects. If I’m out and running on 4G and connect it works perfectly fine. I have tried several Routers and still the same thing. It does this on both my iPhone 11 and MacBook Air. Thanks and I look forward to your response

Useless
They advertise a 30 day money back guarantee, however, to request a refund and cancellation you have to email their customer services.
I had this for only 1 day and decided it was not what I expected and did not see myself benefiting from it.
There has been numerous emails back and forth of them completely ignoring my simple request for cancellation/refund. Every reply is sent from a different person answering my request with a question like “have you considered how this service will benefit you?”
I have made it very clear in the first 3 emails that all I want is to cancle. However all they are being is difficult as well as taking 24 hours to reply. Not impressed at all.

3rd VPN I’ve used and this by far the best and seems very stable,the UI is well designed for people who just want a VPN to work on demand ...worked well when I was abroad with work too ..would recommend..my only criticism is that there’s no live customer support, it’s fine Via “tickets” or email basically ..sort it out guys were consumers not employees phoning the IT dept lol...fix this and your going to be challenging other better known brands for the crown !!

The service doesn’t not work to me
If I could I would put 0 . It is more than a month that I try to connect from one country and it doesn’t let me do it, I tried to send an e-mail to many accounts an no one answered. I try to send many tickets but it always says it failed to send every single time! So the app is not working to me and there is no support !!!
I want to cancel the subscription and I should contact them, but if they don’t answer to fix my problem I don’t think they will never answer to cancel my subscription, I am hopeless and I much more

Really impressed
I have been using Surfshark for a few months now and so far I’m very impressed. (Hence my holding back with a review) I was shopping around for a while and came across Surfshark and read up on it. I was very speculative at first as I’d not heard of them before.
I’d almost gone with one of the more common VPN’s due to popularity mainly but decided to throw a few questions across via Live Chat and all questions where answered which was a huge positive and to be fair the price was unquestionably amazing.
I had nothing to lose with a free trial and never looked back. I don’t use it as often as I could but there’s no loss, given the deal and to be fair, I’m so impressed, especially with the ease of the apps via all my devices compared to others used prior to Surfshark and ‘touch wood’ I’ve never had a problem using my VPN, no connection loss and at times I’ve had my connection going for long periods, nor had to contact customer support for anything.
Great work guys/gals - Easy 5 Stars from me!
Anyone shopping around for a new VPN I would highly recommend giving Surfshark a try!

Been using this for a month now and been really pleased with the service. Prior to joining I had a few queries and customer service was quick to respond, since I’ve joined I have had quick assistance from them also. My connections have been great with little speed difference, so really pleased and at the price it was offered I’d have been a fool not to take it.

Bugs. Confusing interface.
There have been bugs for along time and this update is disappointing. Disconnecting from the 3-D Touch popup menu on the iPhone home screen usually doesn’t work. The update to 2,2.1 makes the rest of the interface more confusing. Kill Switch is described as reconnect and Autoconnect is described as bypassing VPN! This update also touts the ability to exclude the mobile network from VPN but this is nowhere to be seen. Also, the help text is not much help and looks as if it was written in a hurry.

Didn’t even work for one day!
I signed up for a 12 month subscription. First time I used it I found it great. Fantastic fast solid connection. Then the second day I went to use it and half the servers had disappeared so I couldn’t use it to tunnel to Australia! Uninstalled and reinstalled app still not there. Sent a message to support and am still waiting for a reply. Very poor help. Once you buy it you are on your own. Is it one person in a shack and with a bottle of beer running this company? I want my money back because within a day I can’t use it for any location other than UK, Europe and America. Don’t know where the 800 servers around the world are. Certainly the one in Perth has disappeared. Don’t waste your money on this because once they get your subscription you certainly don’t get any service and there is no way to contact anyone.

Excellent, when the apps work
I have had a couple of problems on iOS and OS X apps as well as windows 10 app. Finally got through to customer support. Very helpful and friendly but I was only able to get a response on live chat.
I came from nordvpn and the app was flawless.
When the apps become a little more reliable, I will update to 5 stars. Very happy otherwise. Thank you surfshark!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience of SurfShark. The security and jurisdiction is excellent. The speeds are superb. (I have a 55mb connection and when connected to a server it drops to 47, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things)
I fully expect these guys to rivalling NordVPN and ExpressVPN in the near future, which is incredible considering they only formed last year.
Whether there cheap pricing stays the same as they get more popular remains to be seen, so I absolutely snapped up that 3 year deal with 85% off.

Great start but then becomes unresponsive
Initially I was very pleased after installing as my network speed wasn’t affected at all and all my apps worked fine. But as I went about my day I noticed that apps kept hanging and some wouldn’t even open including the App Store itself. I tried rebooting my iPhone a few times and although this clears the problem eventually everything starts getting sluggish again. It’s such a shame as the interface and ease of use makes this a very attractive app but it needs to be usable and for me I just want to leave my mobile on and not have to keep turning it off and on again. I might try again in 6 months to see if there are any improvements.
