Update BROKE IT !
After the last update (14/1/26) when I try to pull in data from my Bluetooth thermometer it just keeps saying “loading data - refresh complete” but does NOT pull in the data, so the graph of temperature is not up to date.

I use Govee for outdoor lighting only, inside I use Philips Hue. All of my Govee lights are on timers and I don’t interact with them using the app much.
The Govee app is a mess, difficult to use, poorly laid out and confusing. They could learn a thing or two from the Hue app.

Over complicated
They have made this app so un-intuitive and buried features in hard to find places, so many clicks for simple tasks. The amount of web searching I need to do to find anything I want to do is ridiculous and I work in IT, am incredibly tech savvy, and I struggle with the frankly ‘mad’ development of this app! Just bonkers…… the fact there are so many forums asking and discussing how you do things should speak volumes to the awful development team who make this!
You want to setup your lights to come on at a time, with a particular scene, then go off at a time, my word, how many steps do you need to take, hidden menus, hidden options no obvious place to start! How a non-tech would stand a chance with these is beyond me,
The movement sensors, I made a video on how to do that on YouTube it was made SO hard for the end user, did you not conduct ‘usability testing’ I am a head of global test teams for a large corp, and I would fail this! Terrible… who designed the architecture?
Can’t you guys use some other apps, learn the standards, norms and code the same or similar, it’s all about simplicity, usability and being intuitive! In the words of Apple, “it just works”

LED RBIC NOT WORKING ON NEW iOS
Since updating to the new iOS, I am unable to control my LED from the app.
Error states app needs updated but it’s up to date.
If I go to my older work phone on iOS 18 and run the Govee app everything works as expected.
I suspect the issue is compatibility with the new OS and my LED “H6163” rather than the app version itself being the issue as the error message would suggest.
I’ve provided evidence to support this to Govee via a ticket but the responses take a while and they do not seem to be acknowledging the issue with connectivity specifically on iOS26 which can be easily demonstrated!

Great app and easy to use
I’m using Govee products for past 3-4 years and I must say these smart products are reliable and easy to use via Govee app / smart assistant ( Googkevor Alexa). I would highly recommend these products to anyone looking for smart light.
My only suggestion to Govee team is to work on price front and make such products versions little bit more affordable as well.

Useless customer service!
I have had my product for 2 days. Day 1 it worked amazing, connected to the WiFi and comparable with me Alexa (which it states on Amazon when I purchased). Day 2 of having product it won’t connect to my WiFi. There is no issues with my WiFi at all and this worked completely fine with product yesterday. I have complained via the app almost 10 hours ago and still no response from any human or even a robot !! Avoid !

first problem - the app size is very large. second problem - what is the point of having a user login if saved colours etc are not actually saved to the user profile? i deleted and reinstalled the app to free up memory space taken up by documents and data and was surprised that all my saved settings had disappeared.

New app is rubbish
I used the Govee app with my smart heater no problems at all and really liked the ability to set a target temperature. They then automatically updated the app to a new ‘improved’ version where I can’t find anything now except to switch the heater on and off. Rubbish. I want the old app back.

The app is terrible. Lights are good
The app is messy, confusing and poorly laid out. The app, when you really try to use the features Govee boasts about falls short. Great for basics. But the tap to run, group control, current UI on segmented lights and the general mess that is the app is tedious and jarring. Maybe go Philips. Idk. Just smooth out the app please. Especially its intervention with Alexa when using tap to run. And light segmentation. WHAT IS BRIGHTNESS AND RELATIVE BRIGHTNESS. WHY DO THEY BOTH DO THE SAME THING BUT NOT HOW YOU THINK. WHY CAN ALEXA BOT CHANGE THE BRIGHTNESS OF LIGHTS WHEN USING TAP TO RUN. WHY DOES ALEXA RANDOMLY SAY THEY ARENT ON WHEN THEY ARE BEAMING LIGHT.

Great lights, simple set up, no problems, stickers on strips don’t stick to my walls but they had great customer service !! However when they deliver Royal Mail it’s great, when they use Evri the couriers park outside your house don’t get out then you get updated they can’t deliver !! Happened twice last week, I told govee if you use Evri again I will not but again.

Floor Lamp Pro
Love the lights themselves but the app isn’t the most intuitive, especially if you’ve ever used the Philips Hue app. I’m also having problems pairing my new Floor Lamp Pro to Apple Home via Matter. The code is in the Govee app, but when I copy it into the Apple Home app it can’t find the light so fails to pair 🤷🏻♂️.
Just to update, I never managed to get this to work and in fact I’ve just bought one of their (allegedly) Matter compatible tower fans, and unsurprisingly that won’t pair either (reset 9 times so far). Govee really need to do their homework when it comes to Matter as I’ve never had these issues with other brands. The fan will unfortunately be the last thing I buy of theirs if for Matter use as it just doesn’t work 😕.

Going downhill
I’ve had various lights for about a year now, increasing the numbers as I could afford it. The one great feature particularly with downlights is that you can save a snapshot of something you’ve created and go back to it because it’s been save. Well for some reason Gove have removed this function, which basically makes the lights The cheap ones you buy on Amazon. What’s the point in having multifunction lights where you can create your own patterns, but you can’t save them for future use. If you read this, please give us back snapshot

My new Govee lights are fantastic. They were very easy to fit and they look brilliant. There is a wide range of colourful effects that are great fun. The lights themselves turn up very bright with lots of custom options that include lighting to facilitate reading or fine tasks. Recommended ++++

I love Govee , I love buying the lights and my family love the app but I said I am a Blind man it’s very difficult to use the app independently to turn off lights and also to set the different lights off. Nice on the surface, bad underneath
I tested it’s built in, weird AI system (why is that there? What is the need for it. It serves no purpose other than to relinquish private data to them. And I say them as it’s using a foreign AI system. Eg: try writing about how the current dictator in China (Xi Jinping) looks like a certain yellow bear from a book (Winnie the Pooh). Or about the atrocities being committed against its mountainous muslim population… it’s all censored. Yet write in other atrocities and they’re all fine and dandy!
It’s extremely suspicious. I don’t like it. I’m now using another platform to maintain my lights and have removed the microphones, and run them on a separate home network. God I wish I didn’t have to do all this. Modern tech (I’ve been into electronics since I was like 4, back in the early 90’s. Top of class etc throughout due to my use of tech, too) is such a gosh darn minefield trying to not lose personal info, trying to -on a massive level- feed garbage data into AI platforms via scripts and supporters ~~~ it’s tiring. Why can’t we just pay £2k for a TV instead of the tv companies making back 1.5k by selling our photos taken as we sit bare in the safety of our homes, by charging us 0.5k for a telly in the first place. I’ll pay that full price thank you.

Thermo-hygrometer widget works, but has glitches
I originally gave this a 2-star rating because initially the thermo-hygrometer widget was showing 0 for both the humidity and temperature, even though these are recorded correctly within the app itself.
However, after waiting long enough this issue fixed itself, although I nearly uninstalled the app before this point. There are also some trivial graphical glitches with it.
Overall, it does the job, though.

Good app but needs a widescreen mode for easily switching between aspect ratios. Camera doesn’t pick up movies with black bars without recalibration which is a pain…then you have to recalibrate again for full screen… crazy this isn’t already a feature

Can’t update app
It’s really good and useful to me but my bulb won’t turn on but every time I go to turn it on it tell me to update the app as am using an older version so I click confirm and it just bring me to the App Store and normally it would say update next to the app instead of open but it won’t and I don’t know how to update the app to the newer version

Much better than hue
I really like this app, much better than the hue app with more functionality and fun. Pretty easy to use, I managed to find everything I wanted to do quiet easily. It integrates with Alexa flawlessly. All UI’s require fine tuning overtime none of them are perfect but this one does a very good job quite simply and intuitively. Good job app people.

Great app but weird bug
The app itself is great, with the features all good. But I keep getting a bug which doesn’t let me control lightbulbs and other items in my home ; every time I click on it it says the app is not updated to the latest version even though I am. If this could be fixed it would be 5 stars.

Brilliant Update...NOT
We have been using the Gove app for a couple of years now and it’s normally absolutely brilliant. However, they’ve just done an update to it which means it every time we shut the app down well i.e. when we’re not using it, it deletes the heater that we use so you’ve turned me into a non-user your app and your heater and all the other things I planned to buy for the home because it was brilliant will not be happening. Well done you.

Good controls. But it needs more polishing. Few bugs:
- The widget doesn’t always work after a while, does it lose access to the bulb?
- Easier way to group. The ui is not very intuitive atm

App not working.
This app was fine until an update and now the temperature control keeps turning itself off. I have 2 heaters and iPad and iPhone but no matter what combination of devices and heaters I use it is always the same which eliminates any issue with the heaters. The app has been deleted and reinstalled and both heaters have been reset. This needs to be fixed.

Bring back old photo light modes
I like this app, it’s great does everything that you would expect. They suddenly added a feature where you can create light settings simply from a photo. Now they removed it and made it AI instead. It is trash, the new AI mode is robotic and the light settings are very very basic.
Bring back the old photo to light setting mode. It was an exciting feature that should never have been changed.

Love Govee my home is a delight with lights and I don’t have to get up and down, just grab my phone and my outdoor lights come on my daughter's room has the new wall light Evangelion there outstanding loved the packaging also and we have TV lights x2, strip lights, and to top it off outdoor lights am a big fan of this company and am looking to by more outdoor light
( I have used other companies' lights) But Govee is by far outstanding in lots of ways and there is even a chat room where you can connect with other buyers who have the lights and get good ideas, so start your light show and you won't be disappointed, definitely would highly recommend Govee to everyone woohoo

Lack of Light Widgets on iPhone
Really good and easy to set up, definitely one of the best light brands out there! Where they are falling down from being 5 star is that they haven’t implemented widgets for lights into iOS when all of my other lights have… just behind the curb on this one

Eating battery, slow
Has been eating battery recently. More than 50% of my total battery use if I forget to quit the app, for background use, not even uploaded the data.
Also slow to load, but that’s not new. It takes a few tries before it loads.

The app tries to be too many things at once without paying clear attention to the user experience. Makes for a frustrating and opaque experience when you want to do something simple, an app shouldn't be a puzzle or something to figure out.

Amazing curtain lights
We bought a couple for our house and they are so amazing that we ended up buying four more set.
We have linked a couple together which is amazing, but wish they had a few more themes for the linked curtain lights.
But the individual lights have several really good themes. Just got to work out how to design our own themes. Plus the double sided pads don’t stick to windows very well as our keep falling off.
But that said we would recommend this item to everyone looking to add a little something special to their home or business throughout the year.

Turn house into a light festival
After using many lighting manufacturers including Philips Hue, Govee are one of my favourites and the best the amount options they have for the different light setups is just on a different level and they are always building on what they offer, you will not be disappointed when purchasing from Govee that’s a promise!!!

Worst API for users!! Years later still bad.
Update; (years later) you would think Govee would realise that rate limiting lights to one action per minute is killing their customers who choose to use a home assistant app instead of their awful app. Nooooooo.. Step 1 is I never recommend Govee anymore. Go pay a bit more and get a Philips hue. Step 2 is to replace as many of these useless lights as possible.

Govee make great lights but to integrate into smart homes systems like home assistant, their API is literally the worst. Bad coding with terrible API usage limitations. I am so sorry I invested in a lot of govee products before testing the API. If they want to fix this they could. Ask Shelly smart devices for some help as they seem to know how to do it well.

New update is terrible
Used to be able to scroll through the colour wheel and your lights would change as you scrolled through. This was great as it allowed you to get the perfect colour!
However, this feature has been removed for some reason as well as no longer being able to get darker shades of orange!

Excellent App but …….
App works excellent. It’s one of the best smart home apps out there however if you use Govee Smart Bulbs with the dream view feature in my case with the sync box, once the dream view is turned off the Govee bulbs are not responsive to voice commands or commands from the app is unless the bulb is switched off then on again. I have 3 bulbs in the same room that have this behavior.

Firstly it’s great, everything’s amazing on iPhone, great speeds and no comparability issues, products great as well!
But it’s terrible on iPad, it make the apps the size of a smart phone which is unfortunate.

Running in the background consuming battery
Software is okay-ish but consumes battery even if it’s in the background and during screen off time. If this wouldn’t be the case I would give it a 4 star. In dreamview you have less segments for strips, connects to devices way too slow. Would delete if functions would be in Matter.

Was good, but now has a new bug
Was good with good widgets. But now there’s a bug..
I have a temperature sensor from this company, and it works with this app. Originally it was configured to show celsius, and it worked great all widgets from this app also showed Celsius. After an update all widgets are now showing Fahrenheit instead of Celsius which is annoying, despite it being configured as Celsius.

Great app
Great app and does exactly what I want and it’s free with no additional purchases and a no adverts.
One thing I would like to see in an update would be the option to put RGB or Hex values in.

Brilliant
Govee design and make some really useful ambient lighting products and home appliances. This app allows you to use and automate your Govee products and much more. App always works, is clean and nicely laid out. I honestly wouldn’t use any other manufacturer when it comes to my home lighting or heating.

Brilliant app but…
The govee home app is amazing and can perform/do all of my original expectations and more. It makes customising my LED lights easy while still allowing me to set routeems for it and link it to;
Alexa, Siri, google assistant etc…
However there are two minor errors/“bugs” with the app. For example when setting a routine with the lights you can’t customise the colour of the lights in that routine and for me it is just stuck on orange for all of my routines. The other issue is also about the routine section of the app. I don’t know if this is for all users or if it is just a bug for a few but sometimes when I activate one of my routines (and sometimes the same for turning them off) all that happens is the screen freezes and I can’t do anything so I have to restart the app and try again.
But other than those two minor issues the app is amazing and I highly recommend it to people looking for some additional LED lights or their first…

App not fully refreshing.
It’s December 18th 10am and on the top of the screen the temperature is up to date but all these stats below did not refresh since December 15th 5am … it rolls and rolls, gets stuck between 20-40% and doesn’t update at all. The reason I bought this thermometer was to be able to track temperature in my greenhouse through the night BUT it doesn’t refresh, all I can see is the current temperature and that’s it. My greenhouse is literally next to my house so it’s like maybe 5/6 meters away from my phone and even if I stick my phone out through the open window it doesn’t update. On the beginning it was updating randomly once per day but at this point last update was 3 days and 5 hours ago. Moneys wasted wish I got different brand one. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Easy to use and always being updated with helpful updates the app is super user friendly and the choice of amazing lights and and now home products is amazing.. love love love Govee
