Repeated designs. Expensive. And set up so you can’t progress.

I have been playing for a few good years now. At first fabulous 5* ++++. But the last couple of years it’s all about money. The game concept is fab but now it’s impossible to progress. The game is very confusing, it says bright colours and the designs that win are BAD and pale colours. ❤️😭💁🤪

I have been playing this game for many years then took a break for a while. Just come back and i find it’s getting way to expensive. You have to put real money in to be able to have nice items. And also i used to always get high ratings but now I'm coming 9th most off the time and i know my designs are worth more than that. I’m very disappointed with the way it is now. And also think rewards should be a lot better.

A good game but…

A good game, I would definitely recommend it. However, I don’t understand why it is a 17+. There are lots of people under 17 who would love this game, but they cannot play it. I have never seen anything that I think should make it this age rating. According to google, this is because you can make in-app purchases, but there are lots of games not rated 17+ where you can do this.

I played this game back when I was 13 years old and I really enjoyed it. Then one day it asked me for my age, and said I no longer could play. Im 16 now and every year I try again even by putting my age as 17 and still it says I’m too young. I’ve made this mistake on all my devices. The game is good itself, however there needs to be a better voting system. You should be able to place in order best to worst, out of the 9 others in your own group and 1 - 10 in groups you aren’t in, as to make it more fair. As it is, those who enter their design earlier than others in their group review votes just because it comes up for voting more often. Also some get lucky as they are put against very poor designs, but may not necessarily be better than others in the same group.

I also think the rewards aren’t enough compared to how much you need to spend on your design to get it as you like, so you cannot sustain your playing level.

It ruins the game and makes you just want to delete it.

I have stopped playing for long periods because of it and just downloaded again because of boredom or in hope it is updated better.

Otherwise a good game. Shame.

I have had this game for years and loved it, I did have to delete it though a few months ago for extra iPhone storage. I recently redownloaded it to play again and tried to get back into my account. The game asked me to verify my age and so I did, the game then came up with a notification stating that I was not old enough to play and blocked my account. I am old enough to play. I have emailed the support team saying that I am old enough to play the game as the App Store states it is 17+. After a few hours of waiting I got an email back from them claiming that they couldn’t undo the ban as I didn’t meet the age expectation. I can no longer play the game I have been playing for years, can no longer get into my account and I cannot recreate another account- despite meeting the age requirement. Absolute joke.

Like any others review. The voting process gets clicks on quickly without meeting client’s brief and get cash quickly. STAR COINS - impossible to get! Refused to buy it in bulk cos far too pricey! However would be good to have a bonus round to get more star coins! 5 star designs - virtually impossible! Otherwise I love it and please continue with amendment as stated above 😊

So boring that I may now remove the app.

I have been playing the game for many years now, and if I could give the game 0 stars, then I would do.

Since the way that the game has changed, although I liked the idea of results after 10 minutes, but the gripe I have is that you now only have 13 - 15 days in which to keep/go up a status(?) - not a great idea. I’d revert that back to 30 days to keep/go up a status, to allow players to at least get some sleep.

I am now starting to think about deleting this game, as it is more difficult now, than it used to be, and I agree with other complainers here.

Even the Journal takes too long to come along, so players lose their hard earned statuses, so have to either ‘win’ challenges by getting 1st/2nd or 3rd, or 💜💜💜in the journal, or like most, remove the app, and give up - as it would cost a lot of money to stay where you are.

I doubt that you can convince me to remain a loyal Redecor player, as there are other decorating games out there now, so I’m going to take a peek at them before deciding on whether or not to delete Redecor.

Used to love this game but…

I reinstalled this game as I used to love it, but I accidentally typed the wrong age into the game to start, so now it won’t ever let me join the game because even if I delete and get the game again it just still says I’m too young so it doesn’t even give u a second chance to type a new age since I was meant to type 17 but accidentally put a 1 instead of 7 (11) can this be fixed please so people have a second chance at typing the age in. To complete even one or two challenges a day you need such a wide variety of items it’s almost impossible. With every update the game becomes worse and worse. The 10min voting is a total scam because now definitely terrible designs of dump rooms get 1 place. It became literally not possible to win 1-3 places, even if you buy something in the app. There're 80% not related to interior or decor challenges like make up, dress etc, poorly made and terrible high costed, collaboration with Revlon is ridiculous and useless, they offer to paint walls or beds with lipstick. The premium costs way too much it should. You have to pay about 20£ just to keep the items you already won. It was a good game some time ago, but the owners keep ruing it

I used to love this game but there are now so many pop ups to claim cards and coins and gifts, and so many side quests and extra designs and who knows what it's become a mess and is unplayable. Annoying. I just wanted to design rooms! Uninstalled.

I absolutely love this game, however it’s changed so much now ,,, you need to spend a lot of money to have decent materials to do decent designs. Became worse after their recent renewal.

I’ve been playing this game occasionally for some time.

Roughly speaking, it’s a game where you decide the color scheme of a room’s interior. The graphics are incredibly detailed, and the textures of materials like fabric and leather are realistically reproduced, which makes it very engaging.

The concept of the game is interesting, but I can’t quite relate to the scoring system.

Recently, the game was revamped, and the scoring in the journal section has become more lenient. Considering that a lower score leads to a drop in rank, I think this was a positive change.

However, the scoring in the live section has become questionable, especially since the deliberation time has been drastically shortened.

Currently, I’ve lost eight consecutive duels, which didn’t happen under the previous system. I only compete against opponents with strange color schemes in rooms I think I can beat. This makes me suspect either a bug or a flaw in the voting system. Additionally, I believe the developers should address the fact that some people tap randomly just to earn money through voting.

The large-scale live matches are slightly better, but even then, I feel that the likelihood of “Why is this room ranked so high?” has increased compared to before.

In the survey from the developers, I was already very skeptical about the option of a 10-minute deliberation time. As expected, I’m now convinced this was not a good change.

If they insist on continuing with a voting system involving general players, they should at least incorporate fair judgments from AI regarding basic aspects like the color schemes of rooms.

I’ve lost so much money due to consecutive losses that I’ve decided to uninstall the game. Goodbye.

Your in apps are getting ridiculously expensive. Some scenarios you can’t play at all

Unless you have unlocked VERY expensive new themes. Less a game and more a money grabbing exercise now. When will people in the consumer industry realise that if you set out to provide a service - you should honour that and appreciate custom. The irony is If you charged half your prices you’d probably double your customer base, which is surely important for your global reach.

I played this game a few years ago and loved it. I don’t know why I stopped. I remembered it today and decided to redownload. There have been some changes but all positive. I saw the reviews and was shocked to see poor reviews. This game is so much fun and you get coins by playing so you don’t have to spend your own money (which other reviews state). The voting system could be better as I often find the ugliest rooms rated 1. Which makes me think maybe people are just skipping through to get coins. Really fun

This is a great game for would be designers or day dreamers like me! It is fairly easy to play without paying for extra coins as long as you are patient enough to vote and wait for people to vote on your designs. The better your designs the more coins you are able make. So it is worth taking your time and getting the design pretty! Other times i just do as many as i can just to get coins but it can lower your status if you dont get good votes for your designs. I try to aim for top three, sometimes i am surprised when a design i love comes last and a design i wasnt sure about is first but usually it is easy to get a feel for what makes a good design! Good luck and i hope u have fun designing too!

I would like to add since the update i have been very frustrated that i have lost items i paid for, i used to soend a lot of real cash on this game but since the update i have stopped as it doesnt seem worth it anymore as items i bought got taken off me and the prices for items when sky high they also put a limit on the amount if times u can vote so i can only do two or three sesigns at the most before putting the game down, this is rediculous! It has ruined the game and i am super disappointed

***UPDATE*** This game is getting worse. Nothing more than one of their gambling games. They have changed the algorithms so that great designs do not win and you have to spend so much money. They have silly colouring book designs which are insulting! They are losing their long term paying players that have had enough. This can’t go on. They are cheating us!!!! Playtika have ruined what was once a great interior design game. It is now just another of their gambling games with algorithms like a slot machine. They have made it so expensive to play and hard to win. Shame on you Playtika, there are many disabled people that depend on this. The designs are now awful and I liken them to a children’s colouring book. They don’t stick to the theme of the season, which is what the season pass items are for, they deviate to ridiculous themes that have nothing to with interior design!! People are now starting to realise this and I hope you do badly and sell the game to someone that cares about their players. Try Garden Joy, it’s free and fair. Great app but few real designers

It’s a great app and idea, my biggest issue is not really the apps fault though l there products are majorly over priced!!!! My issue is that unless you think like a middle aged mother in law on an outing to pottery barn or perhaps enjoy the George home magazine, use only greys, beiges and anything dull or neutral, you won’t get votes if you take the opportunity to use any real artistic touches or flair you win much, if you do everything in sage, beige or stone however which you eventually have to, to win votes and get further in the game all the members will love your designs (and you will hate them) the game also likes to suggest you redesign and “perfect” anything that these voters don’t like, honestly if you like your design (and that’s all that should matter) it’s already perfect and being told To “perfect it” to others bland taste is quite frustrating if you want tokens, coins and to level up though… beige and white it is 👍 I just wish the voting was done by genuine designers not bored vanilla people that think a dark grey is adventurous.

The system needs improvement, but otherwise good

I’ve been playing Redecor for couple of years now, but not daily or even monthly really, because it’s only entertaining in the short run.

I do kinda like the currency change a bit, but I don’t like this new system where you have to go up a level to obtain items, it feels unfair because most of the times in the lower ranks, Top Notch/Styled challenges or sometimes even Duels require materials that need to be unlocked by Star Tokens, which takes a lot of grind to get, or real money, so I am only playing Creative challenges, which I don’t really like because it limits the amount of challenges I can play, as well as the rewards I could potentially get quicker.

I also wish the seasons are a bit longer and not just 1 month each, maybe 4 months like an actual season or something? This season pass system feels a little cluttered. But that one’s just my opinion.

Overall, great game, but shame about this new system.

Consistently lower quality game. Don’t play!

It defies all logic how a company can so completely destroy a wonderful business carefully and cleverly built by a team who cared about design and understood the interests of its customers. Since the new owners took over every single week some aspect of the game gets worse. They make it incredibly difficult to enjoy the game, it’s difficult to use the items needed to enjoy the game or even sustain play without paying EXTREMELY ridiculous sums of money being spent in their neverending campaigns. Every time you open the game you are faced with pop ups pretending to offer good deals, but they are actually anything but. After a while you wonder if they think you are actually stupid, their money grabbing is so over the top. The game is now owned by a gambling company who care only for profit margins. They have introduced increasingly coercive tactics, shady (I would say blatantly dishonest) excuses instead of clear explanations about their intentions. Support almost never replies and on occasions when they do it’s copy/paste patronising garbage which NEVER addresses the problem you have written to them about. I have been waiting months now for aspects of my game to be fixed and honestly, I know they won’t ever do it. I have zero faith this is a legitimate or legal business operation and my advice is stay well away. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT RELAXING.

The game is not enjoyable anymore

I was enjoying the game until they did a fresh start. All changed. The items you have in stock are not available for most of the challenges so you need to buy more coins if you want to play. If you don’t get good positions you don’t win coins enough so again you need to buy more coins. If you don’t have good items you can’t level up or you can be downgrade so you compite with other players with less items to play. I am lucky I have a good level because I won in the previous game before they changed the game completely

I find excessive the way was update now. At the end is just a decor game. It’s ridiculous you need to spend and average of £50 per week if you want to enjoy the game like it was before.

If you download the game, be conscious if you want to compite with other players in upper levels you need to spend money in the game. I have a good level and I compete with lower levers players. They have less items than me because of the level so their designs are poor and instead to be able to do a good design like previously in the game they are stuck with the materials they have and the need of buy.

Money Pit!! Avoid

I have played for some years and recently the company was bought out ( the good reviews are all written prior to this period, please see most critical review for a true picture ). The new owners have changed the game beyond recognition. Unless you spend your real money you will not be able to play. My hard earned items that I would use to decorate were removed, I now have to buy them back with real money (I refuse to spend anything!)and also buy purchasing coins with real money to have any chance of progressing. After a month, if you haven’t reached the appropriate level, you tumble back to where you started and everything that you purchased is removed. How can this be any incentive to play? Previously you could play quite well for free. It was a really great game with good challenges and good visuals. The above, coupled with endless glitches and dodgy voting algorithms make this a game to avoid. Unless you are happy to enter a place where your money is needed to get anywhere in a game, this is not for you. Have given the stars above in the hope that this review is visible. Facebook communities are aware that censorship is in operation.

Has gone downhill massively

I started playing nearly 3 years ago. The game got me through lockdown and it was a 5 star experience without doubt. Over the months/years it has declined to the point I don’t recognise it any more. I was always happy to support the developers by paying for a Season Pass but sadly no longer. Since this last update, I’ve had items removed from my inventory I’ve been using for a couple of years! It’s become apparent that every single update now is all about the money. The problem is that the bigger the level of greed, the more people will check out and move onto something else. Eventually it will be run into the ground as more and more ditch it. I have to say I’m saddened by what its become - mainly because I genuinely think they’re shooting themselves in the foot. I could buy actual items for my home for what they’re charging for the virtual ones now. I know which I prefer…. Also, the latest version constantly crashes to the point where it isn’t at all pleasurable to play in any case

Fresh Start what a joke!!!

I have been a player for a few years and it has taken me so long to gain a lot of gold and money in the bank. Also, I have opened many fabrics, woods, metals, wall papers etc. I have spent money as in REAL money to gain better items etc. I have been a massive fan of the game play it on a daily basis. That is until one day ago it’s is now 3rd November 2022. They have introduced a Fresh Start and it is absolutely awful. They have removed items previously paid for as I said previously some purchased with real money. They have combined the gold coins and money so now the amount just dwindles away so quickly as the cost on the items is ridiculous. You can’t vote as many times as you like anymore to earn money. The layout is now messy and confusing. Unless now you win every design you are screwed financially. The most disgusting thing about the game is that they have removed items earned and paid for previously how are they allowed to do that it’s robbery in my opinion. What was once an enjoyable and amazing game that helped with my anxiety is now a waste of time and has not helped my anxiety one bit. Redecor have received many many complaints from us loyal players so let’s see if they listen and do something about it. In the meantime I would advise strongly to give this game a wide birth!!! Livid!!!

New update is rubbish

I’ve not been playing for years like others have, but I’ve been enjoying the game up until today, then it was updated and I’m so disappointed. The choices of available items and colours have shrunk so much it’s ridiculous and almost impossible to play. It was always limiting, unless you bought stuff with real money, which is what you have to expect (the developers have to make money, or what’s the point?) but now, the majority of items are locked so it’s just impossible to finish a room properly. Why take away the vast range of colour choices? It was always a bit tricky finishing a room in a cohesive manner if you didn’t spend real money, but now it’s pointless trying. Another thing too, and the most important….I had loads of rooms in the voting process, I checked them frequently to see where I was on the voting level, and I could see I was first or second on about 4 rooms, 20 minutes later when the final results were in, I came 9th or tenth in all of them!, it’s impossible for the results to change that quickly, so here’s three words…..What a fix

Scams you continually to make you spend more and more - unmonitored gambling!

The more I play this game, the more I realise what a scam it is. Firstly, when you use your tokens to unlock items, it’s random stuff and you can guarantee there’s always an item you unlocked before - meaning you pay twice for the same item to be unlocked. Secondly, you choose an item you like and unlock it, but because items are random, you might not even get that item and so you waste tokens on things you already have (see previous comment) or don’t want. Thirdly, you have to use even more credit to buy items you’ve just unlocked if you want to use them, so spending even more money. The voting is completely random - you can design something great against something really awful and that you know no one is really going to vote for and still lose. This game just scams you over and over. It’s like gambling in the end and it’s unmonitored and unrestricted.

Updated version is worse. You can no longer earn coins for designing. You’re forced to spend money to keep playing. Finally going to call it a day on this game. Just a money grabber and no fun anymore.

It also gives you a fantastic insight at just how massively & variably different a room (& it’s accessories) can look…depending on how you choose to decorate it…which a real eye opener when it comes using their many different choices of patterns, textiles, colours & items! Helping you see how it will look when using certain items & patters or colours…that you might not have usually opted for before …but then seeing just how many inspiring ideas & interior decoration tips you can takeaway from it too…just by playing a game!

Good idea but money grabbing.

Posted feedback but somehow comment was deleted. Such a great creative idea for a game. The rooms are well designed and the idea of other players judging one another’s work is something I enjoy, however, the downfall is for every game you win, you receive game money. With this you can unlock further items to use to decorate. Only a limited amount of games are released per day. Per game, you are given 4 gold bars. To play certain games, you need certain items which aren’t free and for you to unlock those items, it costs 300 gold bars, it’s just so unrealistic and forces you to spend real money in order to play. The developers have previously said in comments that it’s a free game and you can gain game money through voting, however, the game money given in this task, doesn’t allow you to unlock decorating items. I would prefer for advertisement to be added or to pay a one off fee but the game is an utter rip off. If you do end up purchasing items, they only remain in your inventory to be used for max 5 items. Really disappointing as this game has so much potential.

What have you done to my favourite app???

I have been a huge fan of Redecor for over two years now. But suddenly, you’ve done something that means every time you select an item, then decide to try another to see which works best, the screen has automatically scrolled to another place, so you don’t know where you are! I’ve just wasted a good ten mins of my session scrolling back and forth trying to find where I’d got to!!!I also object to the app apparently ‘suggesting’ what fabric etc I should use: I do not want to be told what goes, I want to figure out my own look, that’s why I’m doing the app!! Even worse, it now starts mixing up the order of the different sections and putting colours etc out of order; you can’t accurately compare paint colours unless they are in spectrum order, and for anyone with OCD like me this is just too stressful and I am on the point of deleting the app, it’s that frustrating. Please at least install the option to click on a button to deselect all this moving around and keep everything static, but better still, go back to how it was before. This is a quality app, don’t ruin it!

New update

Feel sad to leave a bad review, but felt I needed to give my feedback.

Absolutely loved this game, it was relaxing, enjoyable and fun. Kept my kind occupied throughout hours at home during the pandemic!

However after the update the game play became awful. I did try to update it several times after I was assured it would change it back, but it did not work (iPhone). I uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, but it was still bad. I would begin decorating rooms, then leave before finishing maybe to get some more cash, but on re-entering the room would be reset and I’d have to start over again. The pictures and screen changes were jumpy. Items appeared white at first, before fading to what they were supposed to be, which was so annoying. The graphics also became poor. Colours looked weird, can’t quite explain it, they just didn’t look very realistic any more.

But the resetting of the half completed rooms is what finished it off for me.

After 2 years I have finally stopped playing and removed the app 😔

Great!

This is one of the best design games I’ve played yet! I love all of the different colours and portraits and all of the different places we can design! It’s different from the other design games I’ve played where it’s just candy crush and a few things to put in place. This game allows you to complete different designs with different people and to see who’s is better through voting. It’s also great how we can vote for other people’s designs! However, voting does take a long time so there’s not much to do whilst you wait especially after you’ve finished most challenges, and I’d also appreciate if duels could be done at any time and not just once a day. I recommend that you turn your notifications on so you get notified when voting is over. Once again, this game is spectacular so I thank the developers a lot for creating this game!

Very fun and frustrating

It’s a great game with a massive flaw.

The tasks themselves are fun and well created, however the competitive element will lead to disappointment for those who like to design according to the (fake) client’s wishes, which is how the whole idea of the game. In most cases it doesn’t matter in the ranking (everyone competes within a group of 10) who made the best design for the client at all, as the majority seems to vote for simply what they personally like best. And also, as the developers commented here, you WILL get ranked higher if you spend more as per their algorithm. That’s just wrong and a reason for me to quit the game (and I would otherwise be willing to spend more actual money on this game). For example, if the task is to create a nature-inspired bedroom but the black-and-white room wins, or to create a minimalist room and you get superseded by 5 way too colourful ones, that takes the fun out of it. If there was a competition option to simply make “the nicest room”, then that would be fair.

Ignore it’s adverts, it’s great

I came to this via an advert on another game mainly because I thought ‘it can’t be as bad as that advert, can it?’ And I was very very pleasantly surprised. Normally pulling a bait & switch like that angers me no end but this one was different. It’s actually a really relaxing almost paint by numbers type of game with added decorations. It’s very well done and simple to play, if a bit frustrating with just how much irl you’d need to spend to get things unlocked. That said I’ve been having loads of fun in the free game and am going to buy bits for this as the developers deserve something back for making something so nice that doesn’t bombard you with adverts every few seconds. My only minor gripe is that in voting you can’t see the actual task related to the challenge so when it comes to voting, you don’t know who matched the brief best (unless you’ve done that brief yourself before & can remember it), just which design you prefer. So it’s a bit easy to ‘game’ the voting by picking things you know others will like rather than what the brief was. Some of the more interesting & different designs lose out cos they matched the brief well but just didn’t meet the popular criteria. That said, it’s a minor blip in what’s otherwise a lovely game.

Love this game

This game is great but I have a problem with the actual app. I downloaded it into my phone a while ago but then removed it due to space issues. A few weeks ago I downloaded it back into my phone or so I thought! It must be there somewhere as I can play the game but only by going into the App Store and opening it that way. There is no game icon showing on my phone. I am getting all notifications when voting takes place etc so the game is there - somewhere!!! Any ideas how I can get the icon to reappear on my phone. It’s very annoying to have to keep going into the App Store and find the game every time. I restarted my phone; checked internet settings etc; and I can’t find a way to remove it to start again. It’s the only app I own that does this. Sadly it will stop me from playing soon.

It would be 5 stars.... but PLANTS!

I love this game, have been playing for a while, it’s different to the other decorating games because you don’t have to play puzzles to do the thing you want to do. I play practically every single day, it’s simple and easy and a distraction from our crazy world.

However, plants. Come on now, can you at least give us 5 uses for them? One single plant costing more than 5 uses of flooring?? I know it’s not meant to be realistic, I get that you need to make money out of the app, I understand it’s a business, I feel you. But please consider either the pricing of a plant or how many uses we get and how many you put in each design.

The leagues are great, but plants mean you can’t always complete the designs every day, so you won’t get very far in the league. It’s becoming less enjoyable, but I love it and want to keep playing! Don’t do this to me! (But otherwise it’s really great and fab and thank you for providing a stress relieving game).

Love this game but..

Im really enjoying playing this game when i have a spare few minutes or when baby is napping! I find it quite therapeutic and find it makes me calm. However, i find it quite hard to unlock new pretty designs so i feel im quite limited. If the prices of items were lowered i feel it would be much more obtainable! Also maybe if there was like a subscription type thing or a one time purchase where you are able to use the materials you have unlocked and brought unlimitedly I would so buy that! Especially for the plants ): the plants are so expensive and literally for one time use which is disappointing as they add so much! I dont mind that there is lots to unlock as i think it makes it more challenging and exciting when you do unlock them. But it is quite expensive to unlock just 3 at a time and the points you use to buy it seem quite hard to get in large quantities!

Ok but ...

I would give this 5 stars except for two things. Firstly it’s noticeable how many really horrible designs win the tasks, which is really demoralising when you go to a lot of trouble with your own design. I’ve clicked on a completed design of mine 10 minutes after submitting it and made a note of where my design sits in the 10 of the group and sure enough when it’s time for the results to be announced later, the line up is still the same. How can they be properly voted on in just 10 minutes? Secondly, and this makes me angry, you accumulate different ways to pay for things. More and more of the tasks cannot be finished without the addition of a plant and these aren’t cheap. They can cost 2500 notes, which is a very hefty amount. And that only allows you to use that plant once. Usually if you buy something you can then use it a further 5 times and most things don’t cost as much as a one off plant. I really really object to this as it takes a lot of money off you.

I’ve just read reviews going way back and almost all of them complain about rubbish designs that win. So it seems that although the response back is always a thank you, nothing is ever done about the complaints. So probably time for me to uninstall this app and stop spending real money on it

Enjoying . . . But

Really enjoying this game, but really don’t like the way you don’t have access to all of the materials, I get buying them, as in real life if you don’t have enough money, you have to wait to save up, before purchasing, it to not even be able to use them? Unless you have either paid to get a “lucky dip” amount given to you or you buy the game pass? Also after playing the game for a while, it would be nice if the rewards for 2nd and 3rd place could be rewarded better, as they are pretty dismal. Also some of the designs submitted, would be nice if you got a better reward/more experience points, if you are able to follow the clients brief, plus, when you rate others designs, would be nice if you could gain experience points there too. Other than that, I’m really enjoying the game as I’ve downloaded it on a different device. 😊⭐️👍

Very fun if a little limited

1) loving the game play, I just want to design all day. It’s a bit like a colouring book but with texture. 2) I didn’t grasp the value of coins vs money and blew a lot at the start. 3) I’ve done all the designs in 3 days and there’s nothing left to do now— which is good as it limits my time on the app. Everyday there’s new free things to do. 4) For many more things to do, it seems I can buy a pass for £4.49 each month. I’m not saying it’s not worth it but this is the most expensive app I will have. After paying for a £25 a year for a fitness app, I’m put off paying for this — if I pay more for this then I might use this as a justification to not work out.

Would be nice to support the developers in smaller ways for the what is currently daily free stuff. The app limits on what I can do in a day makes it easy to jump on and do half an hour to an hour, and not get too sucked in.

Fun but flawed

I’ve been playing this for a couple of months and on the whole really like the idea. You can get much more out of the designs by spending real world money- which doesn’t really go very far in the game. For example you can spend £4.99 on a box of stars which gets you three items in a category. You pick the category (e.g. deco wallpaper) but not the exact three items which is a bit of a cheat in my book. The three monetary systems (stars, gold and dollars) are a bit confusing and would be improved if it were possible to trade dollars for gold.

The “wins” in the game are apparently generated by other users voting. The real flaw in the game is that people will vote for bland and boring and not what meets the design brief. So if the brief is to design a purple themed bedroom for a teenager you can better your bottom gold piece the winning design will be beige and white without a speck of purple. A little bit of admin oversight would go a long way.

Otherwise if you just want to experiment with what kind of looks you personally like and what works for you then it’s all good fun. And it is a real benefit to see the designs other people generate.

Please fix the voting!

This is a game I absolutely adore and have never questioned or doubted my monthly spend of at least £150 as it is my only pleasure other than restoring and renovating my own actual home but and here comes the but it is the voting over the past week or so has become totally ridiculous with truly well thought & cohesive designs trailing last and the absolutely appalling mish mash of every color under the sun leading the scoreboard. For those of us that in all the many many months and even years of playing to always and I mean always have an average design score of at least 4.45 with guaranteed wins daily to then since over a week ago to trail at the bottom to truly un cohesive designs then something has definitely changed. If this is a permanent change then I’m out as I will not waste another pound on a game where the long term legacy players are forgotten and taken advantage of. Please do not reply with that there has been no change when it is totally obvious there has been. Please respect those legacy players that support you financially and restore the voting to how it was before before you kill off a very loyal legacy fan base. With love, hope & respect.

So creative and wonderfully addictive!

I love so much about this game, it allows your creative juices to run wild, I love design programs and always wanted to give it a go now I can. I love the Voting process too it great to see some other peoples designs. There are really some very talented people out there. It would be nice in the voting process to leave a comment as sometimes I think something is wrong but just can’t put my finger on it, so that interaction with other players would be really nice. Plus an option to add people as friends as I think this would be a great platform for making friends who share the same interests. Then maybe you can team up create a team and design bigger spaces together.

It would also be nice to earn coins faster and easier as when you have to stop halfway through can be a little frustrating. But over all 5* and thank you for making such a wonderful game I love it.

Might not be what you’re looking for

The game allows you to choose the colour and materials of different things but it doesn’t allow you to design the physical parts of the rooms like windows or sofas for example, they’ve already been given to you and you have to choose the colour and material. So if you’re looking for a game where you can design the layout and physical shape and appearance of a room or an object, this isn’t it.

But if you’re just looking to design the aesthetics then this it. It’s easy to use and navigate, things are pretty expensive (in-game currency) but you can earn a pretty decent revenue by voting for different designs or simply designing. The only thing about it is I’d like for there to be more options. I think you only get 4 or 5 rooms to design at any given time, maybe more but it’s still not that much.

Either way, it’s a pretty fun game. I never knew I liked designing this much.

It’s getting ridiculous

I really like the game, I really really do, but for some reason the voting just seems ridiculous! I’m not sure if people just click on random ones when voting so they get the rewards as fast as possible, but the voting is just not realistic it seems. Sometimes, yes the best one does seem to win, but most of the time an extremely boring or horrendously ugly one wins and the nice ones come last? It’s not just me either I’ve showed my friends and family it (cause I am addicted to it and play it all the time) and even they say on there own accord that the places seem totally off. I genuinely think that there’s a massive flaw in the voting. Another weird thing is that on duels, I always win, yet on the normal challenges I usually do bad? I’m not trying to be a sore loser but I really do think that the way people are placed are off, like I say I think people may randomly click on any one to get the coins faster. Either that or the way they work out the places is massively flawed. From looks of comments I’m not the only one who thinks it :( it’s making me not want to play it cause I feel no matter what I do I’ll just continue getting the same ranks and it’s making me unmotivated. I always think that the coins and prices etc are way overpriced and extortionate

Great game!

Absolutely love this game! Monetary rewards in game are good so you don’t actually need to spend real cash on this game unless you really want to. I buy the season pass every time as it’s only £4.99 which is extremely reasonable compared to the costs incurred with similar games. Would be nice to see the voting be one more realistic as I’ve noticed that a lot of people don’t follow the ‘client’ brief at all and still win first place. I’m aware it’s ‘just a game’ but when you take time to design something to a specific ideal only to find that some random mix of colours that bare no resemblance to the original brief wins it does get frustrating. Regardless, I still love seeing others ideas and getting inspired by them.

On a HUGE downside….rewards for the duel decor have drastically reduced recently. Reward used to be gold and cash, then became 200 gold and I’ve just noticed today it’s now 100 gold and cash. AND the daily bonus has now gone down from 500 gold to 200!!

Come on Redecor…restore the daily bonus back to 500 gold and address the duel challenge reward please

Really good game just a few ideas for improvement

Don’t even get me started on how amazing this game is, like it’s really fun and I love how you can show your creativity and all the unlimited options to make your designs with. I also love how you can never be stuck with money because all you need to do is vote! As much as I love this game at times it can get a little bit boring so if you could add anything for people who have been playing a while just to make it even more fun. Also I don’t know if this was just a bug or what but I was making this really cute kid’s room and I bought this really nice material with some gold but it was taking forever to load and after a while it took my gold but didn’t give my material I know this was probably just a bug but it was a still a little bit annoying. Apart from this I think this game is great and if you want to improve your creativity or interior design skills or even just looking for a fun game I would totally recommend this game

So this is a good game but.....

This is a great game. I love the fact it puts your creativity to the test. It is super fun. But I have a couple of bones to pick with the app. 1st off, when you have completed all the open challenges, there isn’t any open for ages. I completed all the challenges that were open yesterday, which was the day I downloaded. And right now there is still no more open challenges witch is really annoying because I want to be playing on it right now. 2nd off all, when you are buying new things to use on the challenges, you can’t choose the quantity of the items that you buy. Your only choice is to buy 5. And it’s super annoying because you know something would look perfect and then you can’t buy it because you don’t have enough coins to buy FIVE of them when you could manage 2. I do like this game but I am not keeping it on my phone because I like to have apps that can keep you entertained whenever you feel like it where as in this app you have to wait a couple of days for more challenges to open up. But this is a great app but I just don’t think it’s great how long it takes for the challenges to open when you want to be playing it. Thank you for reading my review. Peace out ✌🏻

Disadvantaged by not spending real money

This game used to be fun when I began playing. I used to do pretty well and get good scores. However, it seems that there is an algorithm where after a certain amount of wins you start always placing 7th or below. There is also an algorithm where when you look at the cost of unlocking materials with coins, the more coins you earn the more expensive the cost of unlocking those materials become. The next time you come back to unlock the materials once you’ve earned the right amount of coins the amount of coins has increased so you cant unlock them anyway. So it is basically impossible to unlock materials without paying real money and you are stuck with the same limited materials every time you play. The people that have unlocked lots of materials are the people who win, so you will also continue placing last if you don’t pay to unlock more materials. The app developers comment on all these reviews stating that there has always been a free to play option with this app but I’m here to tell you that the free to play option isn’t so “pleasant” after a while. You will win and enjoy it a few times and then after a while the free to play game is no longer worth the time. The game only improves after spending real money otherwise you are stagnant and cannot compete with the people who have unlocked more materials.

Ok game.

I like the game. The game is good. But there isn’t much option for you when you start and the only way to unlock new items is to win every event you enter and that’s impossible.. you don’t earn enough from the events either. You definitely could do with having more tasks to earn cash and to earn items as it’s just such a long slow process which takes the fun out of the game. Also items to buy for actual cash aren’t worth what your going to pay you don’t get enough for your money to progress... items during designs are also over priced too I would rather you give us access to all the items and then price them all differently but not at unrealistic prices... when advertising the game you do not show some items available to use and then the others locked.. why is this? That’s giving me a false view of the game I downloaded it thinking I could run wild and create loads of designs with an array of materials but no.

The only difference with this game to the other design games is that you don’t have 5 lives all the rest is the same. Over priced. Too Long to level up and unlock items. Item shop over priced no value for money at all. Start with rubbish items and so so so long to unlock more. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Amazing game!

I absolutely love this game! As a interior design student it gives me the possibility to practice, give space to my creativity and learn about interesting materials/patterns/styles etc. The rewards are good and I usually find myself with a big enough budget to buy what I need.

As much as I love the game there are definitely some improvements that I hope the developers will consider implementing:

1) judging more strictly which players have actually followed the client brief and not just put a random design together. Very frustrating when you spend time and coins on the perfect design only for another players design to win that has absolutely nothing to do with the brief. (I know that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” but...) I also know developers are already working on this issue so hopefully for us players who actually take the game seriously (probably too much ;)) there’s hope lol

2) it would be great if there was an option of “restarting” or “undo” your design as sometimes I get to a point where I just don’t like what I’ve put together and would like to start again from the beginning with the blank canvas as it would be easier that way.

But all in all kudos to the developers for this amazing game and I really hope you’ll take this feedback into consideration, this game is definitely almost perfect! Well done :)

Great app but has its Ups and downs

I think this is a really interesting app and good for learning skills but I don’t get the running out of coins and gold part yes obviously they want to make money but at the same time it’s very easy to lose interest in an app when there is nothing you can do because you have used up all your coins other than sit for an hour voting to get more challenges are very limited they need atleast 10-20 a day or more once you do one another should pop up that you can do immediately not have to wait 3h 45mins until you can enter another challenge that’s the disappointing part also the fact if you enter into a challenge and realise you haven’t enough coins to do anything when it offers you only 3 certain designs and only one is worth coins the other 2 is worth gold which you run out of very quickly, I’m a newbie been playing this app for 4 days straight lol lockdown life at its best 🤣, if I had of been told at the start that once all your gold is gone you can’t buy any new designs I think I would have spent them on more designs instead of buying each pattern singly they need to change this definitely

Fun Game

This app is good as long as you don’t take it too seriously eg: Don’t give it your all thinking you’ll win. Keeps you busy. It’s great that Redecor gives a lot of freebies and daily rewards. Inventory items can be pricey. The game itself is addictive and fun. I’d recommend downloading the app without joining their Facebook page as there’s a lot of bullying and it’s amazing what nasty posts are “approved” including tagging of players without their consent for the purpose of bullying etc. Just nasty. Redecor encourages players to join their social media platforms which go unchecked and unless members report or tag admin, anything goes. Join their social media platforms at your own risk. Be prepared to be bullied and mocked for having an opinion. If it wasn’t for the cost of items and the cost of tokens, I’d have given this a 5 star (which is often hard to get when you play the game!)

App Developers got greedy

I’ve been playing the game since Feb 2020. It was great, until the app developers got greedy during lockdown and started locking away our inventory and telling us what materials to use and where. This forces us to buy inventory that we may never use again and we can’t use inventory we have already paid for. There is no incentive to play or even win now. Why pay money to unlock inventory, if we can’t use it? Why save up silver coins to complete a design collection, if we can’t use those designs in challenges when we want to use them? Why buy a Season Pass if we can’t use the unlocked material when we feel it’s compatible with the design requirement ? Why try hard to win a challenge if they lock away the materials you’ve just won? Why sit through voting for designs that all look the same, because all players are told exactly which material to use? Where’s the creativity? They are patronising us by directing us to follow a specific template entirely, with materials that clash completely, unless you ‘unlock’ yet another material you don’t need to make it look less of a ‘dump room’ The game is boring now. and it galls me to pay money because the developers have got greedy. I’m out

It will keep you entertained for about a week

I really like this game, but it can get boring really quickly. The challenges aren’t very explanatory, such as “design a calm room” okay but what does calm mean? “Design stylish and eclectic” what’s stylish to one person is horrible to another. And especially when it’s hard to get new items, you’re limited to using boring colours so you can’t follow the suggestion which is a big set back. I do think there needs to be more explanation in the briefs, more themes and also, some of the challenges don’t finish for well over 24 hours. I’ve completed all the challenges so now I’m waiting 17 hours for me to be able to do another one.

Also when choosing colours/tiles/carpets etc, you should be able to filter by colours, style, material rather than endlessly scrolling through them because its easy to end up accidentally buying something that you might have just had the gold/cash for and then you have to wait until you can build hhy amount up again.

The new update does make it easier to get gold and cash but the trick is to hoard it to build up a decent amount first but then that leaves you waiting to actually play the game. It would be more entertaining if there was a set limit to spend through each challenge or something to make the challenges more entertaining.

In love

I am officially in love with this game and I don’t say that often. I downloaded it around 2-3 weeks ago now and I am hooked. I have always been interested in interior design so this game is perfect for me. I absolutely love creating the rooms and I seem to do very well and most often getting in the top 4 the group of 10. My only negative is that there’s too big of a gap between designs. I usually do about 4 designs when I get up in the morning and then I’m waiting most of the day for more designs! Maybe I’m just impatient! And also the fact that a lot of the ‘nicer’ materials are purchased with the gold coins rather than the green money. I never run out of the green money conveniently but the gold is only given in large quantities if you win a challenge but that being said, you only get 1000. To be honest I’ve not spent a lot of my own money so far and have had 30 wins so the game still works, you just have to be creative with what you’ve been given.

Great app terrible judging

Okay, so first of all, I love this app. It’s such good fun and really addictive. Yes, it’s annoying when not all of the materials are unlocked, but generally, you can still win using the cheapest and most basic of products.

Now, here comes my biggest gripe - voting. You get a brief (eg “design this room using dark woods and rich colours”). You go off and do the best you can with the materials available to you. Voting concludes and you’re 10th. 1st is a white room with pale woods. Every single time. What is the point of having a brief is people don’t get marked down for not following it? Imagine if that was real life? You paid someone $6000 to design a dark coloured room and they took your money and gave you a neutral room. It’s ridiculous and spoils the app. Either do away with the brief, or impose point deductions for those who don’t follow it. I can’t buy good materials because I can’t seem to win, even though I’m following the brief. It’s so frustrating and ruins what should be a 5 star app.

An unreasonable playing field

At first you get lured in. Then you think you’ve created a great design with what Devore you have available to you and based on what the spec has asked for. You come in ninth place, you look at what came first and second and can’t really understand why they had more of an edge over you, especially when they haven’t followed the client’s guidelines. You play again - 10th! You buy better decor - this still doesn’t do it. You start to follow the play it safe plain colour palette - maybe a 5th. You look at what is making it in the voting system and still can’t get a decimetre score. So what you do is enter the same design palette twice - one comes in 5th the other 8th and they are identical - don’t waste your money.

Now I discover you can challenge an entry, although they clearly have this as an option. One of the latest briefs is about some who can make up their mind as to which rug to choose and yet the winner of this category had chosen the same rug for the choice of which rug to use - ridiculous! It’s the same with the painting from different styles and the winner has used 2 styles to comple 5 paintings - the briefs are not being fulfilled.

Best home interior design game ever!!!!!!!

I absolutely adore this game it’s absolutely amazing and I really recommend it to anyone who wants to play or just design rooms and see everyone’s unique style! This game is so much better than other games cause you don’t need to play nonsense games like with lily’s garden, property brothers or home design all you need to do is vote 🗳 to see other people’s designs to see which is best and then you just get a a whole bunch of money! Also people will vote for your designs like just really recently i got first place in a competition and I won loads of gold and money and materials! Also a really good thing about this game is that you get loads and loads of design options so I’m the other games that I’ve mentioned above you only get three choices but in this games you can buy and unlock loads of million different materials like floors cushions fabrics wallpaper etc and so much more you can also get more money and gold by completing challenges and you can also update and change your profile tell everyone what’s new with you. You can also play with tour friends on Facebook!

So much undeserved hate! Best decor game!

As a newbie I have never experienced the old version that apparently was much better and the new version is getting slated. However, this is by far the best decor game I’ve played! As some reviews say, you do sometimes have limited options but it’s only on some challenges, and as a free and also ad free game of course the developers will try to encourage gamers to buy coins. But it certainly isn’t in your face like majority of other games and the game stays classy. The variety of items is excellent, the rewards are paced well, you have to wait a few hours for challenges, which is a great way to not be glued to your phone but rather draw out game play over a period of time. The types of interiors created for decoration are super varied and realistic. So far I’ve decorated 45 rooms and spent £2. (Which I didn’t NEED to spend at all!) Excellent game!

Oh dear.. its getting worse by the day

So, they tell you what the client brief is, so you try and follow that because isn’t that the point of having a client brief! They might stress a calming neutral colour for a room... so that’s what you do! Then your design is judged along side nine others, including people who might decide that calm neutral colours are black scarlet and purple, and those horrid designs, which have obviously been done for a laugh, well they come first and your ‘not too bad and following said brief’ design comes last! Time and time again. Either do away with the brief all together, or put designs which are similar to each other in the same groups! The game could be overly expensive if you let it. There’s obviously bad feeling on Facebook if you join the group, because people are either following the brief or doing whatever they want, (well it is just a game), but friction is settling in. The palette is so limited, the prize system is mean and puny, the designs are too far apart time wise, it is just not fun, but it could be if the game designers actually took note of what people are saying about the game! I really think that hopefully some other game designers are going to look at Redecor and introduce a much better game, with more fun, more designs, more materials to work with etc! Trust me when I say that some of the design palette is absolutely dreadful. I want so much to enjoy this game but it’s becoming a boring dirge!

Great game

I think this is a great app. There seem to be a lot of complaints about the new change, as now not all materials are accessible immediately. It does make the game a bit more difficult but I think it is also more exciting and challenging this way, plus you are not spoilt by choice. I also saw people arguing that this change was made because developers are greedy and want people purchasing more but I have unlocked many many materials without ever purchasing anything with my actual money. You get rewards as you do more designs and you continuously unlock more and more. I don’t see what’s wrong with that, I enjoy it. I am not a fan of the new voting system though. It is true that we are given briefs but the voting system is not at all dependent on whether you match the criteria set out by the brief. Even as a voter it would be difficult to vote accordingly as the briefs are not available when placing votes (other than the short title for the room). However, overall I love this app and I think it’s a great game. I also see that there are constant updates and reviews are taken into account, which is much appreciated. So thank you :)

Why change

I would like to know does the company that created this design game actually use the ideas from the game for their own purpose? I do not like the recent update it’s prevent you completing all of the designs because of lack of materials that are difficult to get hold of, much better before, why mend what wasn’t broken ? The whole format has changed except everything is white and cream to win , and the designs that don’t take notice of what ‘ the client would like ) ie ..would like blue and yellow colour scheme, why on earth a room that is grey and black is the winner?

Some of the designs that win are now all of a sudden ridiculous colours there seems to be no design normality , now one extreme to another. There are also far to many tiny object ie ashtray or whatever that you have to spend large amounts of money on to use on one tiny object, the most attractive materials are generally the ones you have to pay for with gold, really annoying, so hence people are not able to finish their designs through lack of being to afford the different materials, but of course you could spend a lot of your own money to purchase everything you need ! That’s s different storey ! Shame it used to be a great game , now it seems to have lost its way

Money trap

The game itself is really fun, with good functionality and a nice mix of design tasks. The waiting time for voting results is a little long (48 hours) and the waiting time for new challenges can be frustrating.

The most annoying thing about the game though is that it’s impossible to regain and make coins and cash to spend unless you are constantly coming 1st, 2nd or 3rd. The challenges reward you with about 1600 cash when you design them, but it’s impossible to design without spending 3-4 times that (unless you want to repeat the same colour palette for every single room.) This means you lose money quickly and gain money very slowly. The only way to get more is to buy with real out of game money. It’s a shame but the app is just a money trap - it’s completely unsustainable.

I spent today voting on as many things as I could, I completed my daily challenge and I even got a season level bonus, all of which gave me a grand total of less than 8000 cash... enough to complete 2 challenges to a less-than-ideal level due to limited supplies. How am I supposed to get 1st, 2nd or 3rd to get the cash if I can’t buy items to fit the room?

The split currency between gold and cash makes it patently clear that this app is about making money for the developers, not for fun game play. I’d rather pay a one off or yearly amount to install the app than be tricked into playing a “free” game that ceases its functionality if you don’t put your hand in your pocket every week.

Good but not great!

I Downloaded this game after recommendation from a friend, however I’ve realised I have a completely different experience as to what she does. She’s played the game for a while, before any recent update. I’ve only played the game since the update. When I complete a design I get the bonus of £1600, however when she does she gets £3000! I find myself having to constantly vote to enable me to continue completing challenges as I’m low on cash. My friend has over £50,000, I’m lucky if I ever have more then a few thousand. I only continue to play as we both like to complete challenges and compare our designs, if I didn’t know anyone who payed the game I would have uninstalled it! Would be much better if everyone was able to play the game and have the same experience, the higher amount of cash for completion of a challenge, this would them allow more to be spent on challenges and give a fairer voting system as it would be a more level playing field. This would then solve the problem that everyone else is complaining about.

Used to be great

I used to love this game. I was absolutely obsessed with it if I’m honest. When the new update came out I persevered with it, and I can see how someone who hadn’t played it before wouldn’t have an issue with it; it’s still a great game! It’s just not the great game that I loved before the update.

Many people have already pointed out that the voting is unfair- you ask us to follow a brief and vote on which designs are the best, but ultimately you win if you spent the most money which is a joke.

In a lot of your responses to people here you’ve said that the update was necessary to improve gameplay for everyone. That’s just not true- what it was, in my opinion, was an attempt to force all your existing players to spend their own money just to regain what they had previously had. Well, I refuse to do that. In my experience, making a game impossible to play without spending money just makes people stop playing. Nobody likes to be conned.

I realise that all games have to be tweaked and changed in the early stages, but unfortunately I think this app’s best days are already behind it thanks to greedy developers.
