Description

All people should check their hearing from time to time, especially those who are at a higher risk of hearing loss such as adults above 50 years, those working in noisy places, those listening to music at high volumes for long periods of time and those experiencing ear problems.
Services for early identification and intervention should be made available through the health system.

The accuracy of your test results will depend on the type of headphones you use, as well as the ambient noise level. The results we provide are intended as a first step in testing your hearing. Please always seek advice from a medical professional.
1. If your result from using hearWHO was not favourable, we strongly recommend you obtain a complete hearing evaluation by a certified service provider / medical professional to determine your exact hearing status.
2. Even if your results are in the positive range but you have concerns about your hearing, we encourage you to seek a complete hearing evaluation performed by a certified service provider / medical professional.
3. Whilst the test has a reasonable degree of accuracy, it is only intended as a screening test, with a small proportion of cases that may be incorrectly classified.
4. The WHO and hearX Group will not be held responsible or liable for any results that are incorrect or for your use of the application.
5. hearWHO is only intended for use by persons 16 years of age and above. The test is not intended to be used for children and will not provide reliable results in such cases.
6. A visit to a certified service provider can assist in differentiating between different types of hearing problems.
7. Hearing loss may be caused by obstruction of the outer ear canal from wax, fluid or changes in the structure or function of the middle ear system, and changes in function of the nervous system.
8. Some of these hearing problems can be treated whilst others may be permanent and may need assistive devices.
9. It is important to consult with a certified service provider early; all forms of hearing loss may become more serious is they are left unaddressed.

Useless and a waste of time

Such a missed opportunity. The test itself is fine, but it leant give you any detailed analysis or information and next steps about what to do. This would have been very easy and a hugely missed opportunity, what were they thinking when they developed this app? It’s basically useless.

Awful app

Doesn’t connect to my earbuds. Using a different set of earphones the results vary wildly.

Digits through left only

I’m using an iPhone 8 and while the white noise is stereo the digits are coming through the left only. That’s the ear I’m concerned about. Is this a bug? Surely digits should come through both ears

Not convinced

I get vastly fluctuating test results whenever I do the test. Regardless of whether I run the test on 3 consecutive days or 3 times in a row within 5 minutes, my results vary from the low 50s to the high 80s.
For me, these wildly varying results render this app absolutely useless. But that’s just my opinion.

Useless

I am profoundly deaf in one ear and can hear well with the other. I put the headphones on one ear at a time and ran the test twice. Both ears received an identical score which is impossible. Rubbish.

useless

Obviously only part instructions shown. Unable to set up. Cannot hear any numbers no matter what level of volume the the white noise is set. What am I missing or is this app a joke?

Not worth using

I am using this on an iphone. When the test is loading the instructions only appear as one incomplete sentence no option to scroll or swipe to read the full instruction so I have no idea what to adjust the settings to or what any of the faqs are either. Makes it unusable.

Not Convinced

Every time I start the test, I can not hear the first three numbers as they are never there ! Have to guess say 000 to continue but must make final score meaningless. Makes me wonder re the rest of the app.
Am using with headphones connected to iPad via Compilot and Bluetooth.

Not sure it tells me much

It asks my age (70+) and says I may have hearing loss. Well durr!
But it doesn’t crash on my iPad running the beta of 12.2.
What you get is triplets of numbers read amid white noise. Only takes a few minutes. Probably worth finding your best headphones. Fair value for no cost.

App crashes every time I try to move past “wear headphones” after checking noise levels. I try to click the arrow to the right and it shows “loading noise” and then the app crashes.
