App is terrible

Good rates but the app is appalling. You cannot get statements and your account details can’t be found on there. This has made it impossible for me to use it to show proof of savings for my mortgage application. The chat function is an infuriating circular BOT that doesn’t help if what you want to find out about is not on their limited list. The brain function is irritating and hard to turn off.

Pensions

I would find another source with which to start a pension pot. While it seemed a good option at the time, the service has not been available to me for the past two months with little progress seemingly being made and suggestions that’s it’s ’in hand.’
It’s disappointing as it has been, over all, a good service.

Don’t bother it’s a farce.

What an awful experience. No where to go if you get to the point in the set-up of linking you bank account and your bank is not on their list. Why didn’t you think that might happen? You can’t have an the advertised ISA unless you are prepared to let them have open access to your bank account so they can data-mine you. My bank doesn’t let people do this, nor would I. Now they are pestering me by email to complete the set up they won’t let me complete!! I gather that given the score most of the 5 star reviews must be fake. Update to review: Developer’s response confirms the fact that the set up is they decide if and how much they take from your bank you have to cancel the rule that you didn’t set up in the first place. The response doesn’t address the fact that the app has no exit back to the main app. From the choose bank page- no way forward if your banks not there and the back took me back to login. The “customer service” could not offer a solution. I am old enough to look after my own money, this is an ISA, your not signing up for some fancy budgeting bank account. I am still waiting for the final response letter by the way.
Update. I note that all these things you can do to protect your own money you can only do after you have got an account. Also, in your own words, have authorised a direct debit mandate. Why would you need a this mandate? I have funded several accounts, savings, ISAs, investments etc. but never had to give access to my bank. You’ve missed the point you wouldn’t open the account so how could I turn off any of these thins IN the account? More smoke and mirrors!

Shocking

Downloaded the app and it immediately transferred money from my bank to the plum pocket by itself. Wouldn’t have minded as much if it didnt take over a week for those funds to become available for me to withdraw. Many other features that auto transfer money are also set to ‘on’ by default. For an app that has a function called ‘brain’ it sure doesn’t have much of one.

Good app, dishonest company

The actual app is good for saving and I have enjoyed using it and it has helped me, however their referral seems to be a con as there is a cut off window that is not advertised, every time I invited someone they reset my statistic and won’t pay out, very let down by this underhand practice as I would love to rate higher

Unable to access investment section of app

Cannot withdraw funds

Although I have really enjoyed this app - I am trapped and cannot withdraw funds no matter what day it is - always receive the same message over and over again - help desk advised me to delete the app and start again and it’s still happening - this is unacceptable - you cannot withhold people’s money

Money takes too long to withdraw

I have quick transfers enabled but still money takes days to withdraw from your ISA and first goes into a pocket before you have to issue a withdrawal from the pocket to your bank account which is also not instant despite them saying that it should be if you have the feature enabled. Worse if you are trying it on a Friday evening, no chance before Monday end of day. I don’t think it should take this long to get to your money and I’m sure there’s other providers that are better and faster at this, despite a slightly lower interest rate. I have been forced to use my credit card in the meantime as I’ve been unable to get to my actual money/savings.

App doesn’t work properly

App is not been working properly, none of my investments into pension or stocks and shares isa are showing in the overview or activity pages, this is for all investments I hold no data available to keep track of funds and stocks can’t even sell them if I wanted to, poor customer service been waiting for over two weeks now for tech team to sort it but only get the same generic answer that they are looking into it, not good enough when I was paying for the top premium membership can’t even cancel my account when there is no data of funds and stocks.

Awful app

There is lots of computer wizardry but the actual directions to sort out things are missing and there is no customer support or you can do is send an email and it will be read in some point in the future and if you try and telephone the organisation there is no answer. It needs to be a lot clearer about what services it offers as some people would not be happy with this kind of support

So annoying🙄🙄🙄

This app is really good for saving as it automatically takes amounts out of your account to put into saving and you can choose how much and how little, but it’s the most frustrating app ever!! The first time I downloaded the app I saved a good amount of money and was proud of myself until I clicked onto app and it has logged me out and my money I saved was sent back into my bank account. I was confused so tried to login again but it said there was an error so I deleted app and stopped saving as I couldn’t get back in, but then a year later I thought about the app again and contacted plum and told them the issue as I really needed to save money and the app was really good. Plum fixed the issue fast so I logged back into account with no problem and got to saving again until a WEEK later it had done the exact same thing and now I’m fed up and trying to find an app similar but they are all not as good as plum!!!Plum please fix this problem and this review would 100% be a 5 star.

Absolutely useless

A real mess. Made a transfer from my bank account. 20 minutes later it showed up in the app as “cancelled”. Tried again, exactly the same thing. Online help is a frustrating AI bot. Once you’ve battled through that, the humans are v e r y s l o w to respond. I’ve asked them to close my account; my experience with them has been appalling!

Frustrating app.

Doesn’t allow for people who download app to look at later as there is very little FAQ or training how to use plum and explain in detail that mean little to a lay person. I’ve had attempts for plum to set up savings without my understanding/ knowledge that this was triggered. Unfortunately the app tried to take from my existing savings account. Now I just tried to look through the app and I got signed up for a free trial that I didn’t want. They don’t seem to have a cancel option or more than one step process. Feels aggressive. Very off putting. At the same time when first downloaded it did its maths it didn’t work out and it didn’t try to repeat. But of a fizzle…. Shame.

I have switched banks and now I can no longer use the app!!

I have been using plum since 2021 and have had my ups and downs but since they have implemented the instant withdrawal feature I have really liked using the app.
Unfortunately… I have switched to co-operative bank and now I can no longer use the plum app and I’m very apprehensive to find another money saving app instead.
Is there anyway this is going to change??

randomly deletes accounts

the app wasn’t all that bad but then i tried verifying for the plum interest then my account randomly sends me all my money back to my bank and my account gets deleted don’t get this !!

Cluttered

I don’t really like this app I use it purely because it has the highest interest rate available. The interface is quite clunky and hard to navigate. Wish I could clear all the other features out the way.

Impossible to change password

I have been trying for sometime to change my Plum password as I have been alerted to a possible data. It is absolutely impossible to follow the instructions and obviously if I cannot get this sorted, I will have to close the account due to the possible data. Cash isa

Can’t talk to anyone online with issues so I wouldn’t recommend at all. Had trouble with opening the ISA due to switching bank account and they were not helpful at all.

Great way to invest

Can’t provide a statement for cash isa

I transferred money into their cash isa because of the good interest rate, I now require a statement of that account and they can’t provide me with one…surely one of the most basic functions of a bank is to be able to provide its customers with statements of the funds they hold.

I don't like the app at all. 'money' appears in my 'pocket' days before it leaves my bank, then it sits in my pocket for a week or so before it goes into my ISA. Very confusing.
Interest rate is good tho, so I tolerate the app.

I have no trust in these people, none

Tried this on recommendation from Martin Lewis. Within minutes it had a scary level of access to my finances without proper explanation.
It set up a transaction before I knew what was happening. When I tried to close the account it refused as transactions were still pending. There was no way to cancel the transactions. There is literally no support available. Also the app was buggy as hell.

Gimmick centro

Poor app, looks good on first glance, but has a focus on gimmick non-value add features. It fails on simple basics like being able to confidently transfer money between accounts and withdraw from a plum saving account to have the money available in the next day timeframe advertised. Wouldn’t recommend.

Nope

The app tricks you into setting up a direct debit and although I wasn't paying for there monthly subscription it still took money out of my bank without me knowing and it takes some time for it to get in the 'pocket' in plum. Therefore now I've noticed the transactions coming out of my normal bank account I've got to wait to transfer it back. Not so easy to use the app either, everything moves all too quickly and easily with not much thought over your money. The app is very informal too, with slang words or nicknames for places to put your money just doesn't sit right with me. It's like a child has made the app and coming from a teenager I can't even understand the app myself. Furthermore, if you wish to delete your account and cancel the direct debit then the pending transactions will still be going to plum. Leaving them a deposit of your money that they chose for 'yourself' as a weekly guide! I would not recommend

Nightmare process

I’ve just tried to use the app as I like the isa offer. However after downloading, the signing up process forces you to set up a direct debit with your bank - before you can do anything else or finish signing up. The only choice is whether you let them work out how much to take or you do it. I don’t want to do that and I wouldn’t do that before signing up and exploring a site anyway. They clearly have issues with this as one of their FAQs is ‘why did you take my money’... and the process for then stopping a direct debit. I explored the option anyway in signing up and it failed to link due to a mismatch. There’s an option to talk to a human which was actually a bot and most infuriating it kept popping up with ‘ Please choose the most relevant issue:
If you cannot find your exact question, no worries! One of our teammates is always 3-4 options away.’ I tried multiple times and never managed to find an option where I could speak to a person or leave a message. If you can contact someone then they should say how - not leave me at the mercy of a bot that goes round and round in circles. Needless to say I’ve given up and annoyed by the waste of time. I will go elsewhere.

Sensible savings app

Plum is perfect for people who struggle to save manually or overall. I had Plum for a while before I started to make use of it. After I did my own research about savings vs sinking funds I understood how I can use Plum to do both of these things. I have Plum Premium which allows me a good number of pockets although I wish I had more! I have been saving with the different options available in the app for nearly 6 months and it’s hard to believe that I’ve saved such a significant amount which otherwise I would not have been able to do.
2 things I’d like to share with the Product team that I personally would really benefit from and maybe others too.
1. To allow automated Pay days payments to transferred into only one pocket WITHOUT it affecting the splitters.
2. Allow different splitter rules for Pay Day AND all the other options available in the Brain function such as weekly despositors, combos, roundups etc.

A great tool for saving and beginner investors

I have been using plum since March 2020. And have never felt inclined to write a review. I’ve always been very happy with the app and it has helped me save so much, which I have never done before. It’s also prompted me to start looking into investing more seriously. Plum makes it incredibly easy and not remotely scary, so for first time investors this is fantastic.
However what prompted my review today was that I have just drawn money out of plum to my bank account for the first time since I started using the app. I had read a lot of reviews that said it could take weeks or that money had never actually arrived and that customer services were hard to get hold of. However I clicked to withdraw my money and 2 seconds later had a text from my bank to say the money had been received. So all in all my experience with plum so far has been saving more money than I ever have before in my life and being able to draw that money back to use easily. Keep on doing what you’re doing plum. Great app that I recommend to everyone.

Does the job but is now too expensive

THE GOOD: From a performance perspective I find the App really useful and it has helped me to achieve saving goals that have I set. The round up and pound up features are great, especially if you spend from your account frequently each day. The earning interest rates are higher than the bank, but you will only see a massive benefit if you have a significant amount of money in the right pockets.
THE BAD: The monthly fees have become a bit too much. Depending on how much money you have in your accounts, you could be paying more to have the app than you are earning via interest. I used to employ the same saving concept manually before using plum, so paying £2.99 per month for £0.90 interest isn’t necessarily appealing. That’s £2.09 I could save as well (bearing in mind the concept of the app is that it saves you pennies at a time, so every little counts).

Hard to access your money

I really tried to use the app to its full potential even signed up to one of their paid subscriptions because it sells you this dream of being able to help you budget, plans etc but the reality is far from this. The real kicker for me was when I tried to use the card to help plan my monthly spending. you’re meant to be able to transfer money directly to the card in seconds but this was not my experience at all. I was constantly nervous about being without cash because you can’t bet on when they’ll release your funds. I’ve always transferred from my primary pocket to my card and on one occasion this took so

Mostly love it

The good - it definitely helps me manage my money better. The bad (annoying) is that there is no back button in the money maximiser feature where you exclude payments so you have to exit the app to go back a screen. Also, the allocating payment screen is cumbersome - I have several payments I have to reallocate, and there is no quick way to do it without changing screens. I wish there was a way to allocate 2 paydays (we get paid on different days but into the same account). Also my son would like to use it but he gets paid weekly so it’s no good to him.
More recently I get the spinning wheel of death when I try to allocate a payment - the o my way around is to exit the app. It means I have to record everything as a one off payment even though it’s a regular.

Avoid

Please and please avoid this App/Company. At first this company makes you feel safe saving your money with them but after sometime, the story changes. It’s been month now since they froze my account for no reason after saving a lot with them. Since then I have been pleading with them to unfreeze my account so I can use my money. How would I save my hard earned money with you and start begging you to release my funds? It’s not even fair. Every time I contact the chat to human customer service they keep sending the same message every single time it doesn’t matter if you decide to open another chat with a different person it’s still the same message they will keep sending you over and over again. I sent them an email, so they requested that I send them proof of how i acquired the funds but after providing it they still kept playing with me like a toy sending me the same text. In short words, please avoid saving your money with this company for your own good. I didn’t want to write a review but I had to so someone doesn’t fall into the trap I have fallen into. Thank you

Initially, I loved it

To start with, the app was fantastic and easy to use, I saved far more money than I ever have before. And then the app became glitchy and unusable. The spending tracker stopped working, I reported it, and I’ve been trying for 6 weeks to get a resolution. My money maximiser randomly emptied into my instant access pocket and I was asked if I needed someone to investigate, I said yes and was frozen out of my account without warning and had no money for bills or food. It took them a week to decide that someone must have hacked my account (no evidence of this) and my account was unfrozen. Now, the money maximiser won’t let me set it up for this month, I’ve reported it, and they told me to delete and reinstall the app, which I’ve already tried. The app is essentially useless now, and I’m tired of asking for an update only to be told they’re “looking into it and will resolve it as soon as possible”. I understand that Plum has lots of customers but 6 weeks to fix a bug that renders the app useless???

Absolutely love this app (have an idea on how to make better)

I started using this app in October. I had just come out of uni and wanted to save without having to worry too much about it. Plum has been absolutely amazing for me and helped me feel more comfortable with my finances. I now use plum pro which is so affordable (genuinely less than a cup of coffee a month) and allowed me to add extra pockets helping me organise my finances even further. I am amazed at the app and have recommended to soooo many people.
The money can take a couple of days to move over but the app tells you when and how much. If you are worried about your overdraft you can add this onto your settings and set an amount. It’s super easy and reliable. So if you’re questioning it I would highly recommend.
One thing I would love to see is for the goal feature. For example. If I wanted to complete a savings within a specific time frame it would be nice to add that option to see how much you would need to go in within that time frame. Or alternatively an estimate of how long it would take to get to the goal based on your average deposits. It would give me more of an idea on time frames and help me split my pockets accordingly. However, still a great app nonetheless.
I never write reviews but thought this was 100% worthwhile. I would encourage anyone to install it!!

Helped me to finally start saving & investing!

I love that Plum automatically transfers money from my account and puts it into my savings and investments before I get a chance to spend it. It’s an easy to use app with very useful rules regarding how much money to put away and how to split that money between your different pockets, investments, pension, etc.
If you’ve been intending to start saving and/or investing, I’d definitely recommend giving Plum a try! Most of my family use it already and I’m trying to get my friends to too!
My only bugbear is that I wish you had more options to sort the funds in your portfolio as they are currently organised by the amount of money invested. Being able to organise them alphabetically, for example, would be nice! I’d also like the ability to remove funds from my portfolio if I haven’t invested in them or have removed my investments etc. But these are all minor improvements to what is overall an amazing app!

Brilliant app

I never leave reviews but I love plum so much! I am terrible at saving and setting aside a certain amount a month, but with plum weekly round ups (each transaction you make rounded up to the nearest pound) and paydays (even if it’s £20 a month) I have saved more than I ever thought I could or ever did when consciously setting set amounts aside! Plus, because your transactions are rounded up, you don’t even really notice it coming out! It’s brilliant, I absolutely would recommend! Money has been tight this year but plum has had such a positive impact on my finances! Also, their support is excellent- I’ve never experienced such good, quick and efficient support and being kept in the loop by them at all times. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

The Single Greatest Savings/Simple Stocks Device EVER

Having always been absolutely non-unabashedly non-unashamedly ridiculously poor at putting money aside I have recently discovered Plum and will never ever look back. The fact that Plum/Plum Pro is so wholly changeable with regards to all the ways that you can maximize savings minimize risk and basically make the whole application y’all run, makes plum/Plumb ProAn absolute must for even the best savers but most definitely the poorest savers out there. I think the best example I can give them this is the fact that last year, wanting to add a new sculpture to the garden I purposefully had to save quite hard. This year with the new Xbox series X coming out I find myself in the extremely healthy position of being able to (if wanted) purchase not one, not two, but three of the new Microsoft Breezeblocks! Plus I even have enough left over for two new architectural sculptures in the garden! The best app I have ever downloaded

I was skeptical about this when my friend told me about it but decided to give it a shot because I’m saving for a house. When I say it’s the best app I’ve ever downloaded I’m not exaggerating - I have saved so much more money than I ever would’ve before when just transferring between current/savings account. It’s money I don’t even see go out, I often forget about it and check the app and there’s £500 sat there that I didn’t even know about!
I genuinely can’t fault it - withdrawals go straight into my back, extra savings come straight out, weekly deposits I don’t notice, daily updates etc. It’s an incredible app and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it enough.
I’ve been using it for over a year and not had any issues, just so much more money saved 😄

STOLE MY MONEY.

They randomly froze my account and we’re grilling me asking for ID and bank statements so I provided them, they then asked for proof of ‘income’ so I said I receive my income plus money from my husband, they wanted proof so I sent proof he gives me money then they said he’s essentially not giving me that much so can I clarify if I have any other source of income, they are making me jump through hoops continuously for MY money it’s been 10 days so far emailing them every single day with every bit of proof, my account is linked to my bank so they can see how much money I have in real time so they know I’m seriously running out and I have 4 kids I’ve continuously asked for my account to be unfrozen but they won’t do it they keep finding excuses. Next step is court I’ve put a formal complaint in and on Monday I’ll be contacting lawyers because I shouldn’t have to fight this hard to have access to my own money especially when I’ve given everything asked of me

Such a great app for rubbish savers like me

I downloaded this app in January and have it on the lowest setting, you can choose how much you want the app to save for you etc, and I now have over £1000 in my plum account. It has made saving sooooo easy, as someone who is rubbish at saving and tends to dip into savings this has been a life saver!! You don’t have to think about it or do anything, the app does it for you. It’s so easy to use, you can withdraw money instantly from your plum account and you can change your settings at anytime. Every 90 days you have to re-link your bank account which is no bother and takes seconds. I would recommend this app to anybody. I now don’t have to worry about putting money aside for Christmas presents this year as it is there nested away in my plum account 😊

Don’t use if you value your money

All started well. The app is easy to use. The problem starts when you start using this for anything more than pocket change. They will freeze your account and when you challenge why they simply we’ll close your account. Here comes the kicker….they don’t send your money back. It just sits there and they do nothing with it. The amount varies by the day. No explanation. The ‘chat to a human’ is useless. It will just say ‘we’ve passed it to the relevant team’. I get the impression this is just a load of kids working out of their bedrooms. I’ve been without access to my money for 4 weeks and counting now with no idea when or if they’ll ever return it. Next step the courts! You have been warned. …. They’ll be along shortly to say they have to follow FCA guidelines etc. yes they do. But other proper banks manage to do the same without freezing assets for weeks on end. Others have mentioned the time it takes to move money. There’s clearly a scam going ok here with Plum warning lots while your money sits in their holding accounts for literally days on end. With interest rates higher this will really tot up! You have been warned. Look elsewhere if you’re sensible.

Plum come back (given all the above) and the ONLY thing they can clarify is that they’re not a bank. They can’t say anything about any of the other huge issues I raised, because they’re all true. This is what you’ll get with plum!

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - referral scheme false advertising

It has now been 14 days past the day I was due to receive my sign up bonus after referring 3 friends (it says 5 business days), and still no sign of my bonus. I have spoken to customer service multiple times, each time I get told “someone else is dealing with it” and I either get told they don’t know how long or to check in a few days… Not only this but the customer service woman was extremely rude and condescending when she explained what a “business day” was, despite it already having been 5 business days regardless of the weekend that had just been. There has been no sympathy from the staff or any sign of effort to resolve the problem, just talk of a “tech department”, I honestly believe they’re just delaying bonus’ so people will renew another month before it comes. The app says it’s due to be in my account on July 1st, it is now the 12th and nothing, I was even told by customer service a week ago it wouldn’t be able to arrive any later than the 11th as it had already been processed… There’s a clear lack of communication throughout the company and it’s customer services, I will not be using this app at all moving forward, after this experience I do not trust them in the slightest, and am worried that if they’ll do this over £40 what will happen if I have a large amount of money tied up and they take the same amount of time and lack of effort to resolve it for me….

Amazing

I seriously struggle splitting my money up for DDs and now i get paid weekly it’s sm harder. Been using plum for two years and recently upgraded to pro so i can make pockets for all my different monthly budgets. Lifesaver. Been trying to get all my friends on it too. Honourable mention to round ups, when i didn’t use the app so actively, i’d come on to check and have £60+ saved and i wouldn’t even realise.
I’d love to see more banks added, primarily Clydesdale on behalf of my friend. Also I panicked when i first made more pockets, as my instant withdrawals didn’t appear in my account. PLEASE NOTE that they go into your primary pocket first, then you can deposit straight to your account. I have had no problems with the time this takes, it’s instant. I haven’t used the same day withdrawal tool yet but i only have that set up for savings.

Great app for good spenders

I’m a terrible spenders as I’m a uni student so you can expect me to do the typical uni student things like going out every over week. But other than that I really can’t have this app “ save for me” on most weeks I end up in an overdraft because I don’t have the money that plum wants to “ save” for me so when it remains in a limbo until plum has it in my plum acc in which I instantly put it back in my bank acc because the money they take out instantly puts me in an overdraft
Like the title says it’s a great saving app for people who have a decent control of their money. Otherwise it’s kinda not worth it. You go into the app activating a bunch of settings being like oh nice it’s saving me money until a few months in you realise it’s not really saving you money because when it “saves” that money you need said money for travel expenses for work and such.
Overall three stars because the point of the app is good it’s just a shame it stresses me out more than it helps me.

Bad customer service

If you want to cancel a deposit transaction ON THE DAY they take it from your bank and u request to cancel they will wait for HOURS and only message u back when it becomes too late to cancel it literally they messaged back on the dot time when it would be too late they even said I couldnt cancel it by 4pm greece time but when they sent me the message it was not even 4 yet proving they had plenty of time to cancel still they just couldnt be bothered.
Edit- after all the fuss and after i said i was going to report the person on customer service they decided to change their mind and cancel it hours after saying they couldnt it sort of shows that there can be good customer service and a smoother running process for app users if they really want to - just stop playing people because it’s their money at the end of the day not something to be taken lightly. The app itself is fine to use an easy to understand but customer service needs improving

Plum Excellent Easy Money Management Tool

Plum has helped me massively from being a none saver to wanting to save. What started out as pennies or a few pounds, has escalated to putting aside pay day payments each month ontop of the weekly savings. The last 2 years Christmas has been paid for through my Plum savings. This year, ontop of my Christmas savings, i have added Car repairs/MOT and Gym savings. Plum is a great tool in gaining money management especially where there is a lack of discipline, this hasn’t happened overnight for me, my first year i struggled with seeing my savings there and the need to spend it, however as the years have gone on my money management discipline has gone from strength to strength.
With Plum you can change how you want to save, as it has a few different levels, you can pause saving when the need arises, if you need the money you have saved, you can get it out immediately or within the hour at the latest.
Plum is an excellent tool to gain money management and easy savings, i highly recommend it.

Amazing app

I got this app in October 2020 as I wanted to start properly saving money because when I was putting money into a savings account in my bank bank I was constantly just putting money from my savings account back into my normal account at the end of the month. When I got plum I saved so much money an I had it to fall back on when I found myself short of money. It’s so helpful because you often forget you have the app and then it is there when you need it, it’s saved me so much money and I don’t even realise it’s coming out of my account until I open the app and am amazed at how much money it’s saved automatically for me. 5/5 as its came in handy so many times, ESPECIALLY at Christmas time it is so much better than putting money into vouchers as I tried the love2shop vouchers the year before and found that I didn’t use any of them so it was a waste of my money but this was so much for helpful, especially as I have so many plans this year so I know it’ll come in handy for me xxx

Too complicated and borderline scammy

I linked my debit account to Plum and a week later they deducted money from my debit card and transferred the amount to the plum pocket. I only realised after the money was transferred that I had the automatic deposit function turned on. I wasn’t ready to commit to the app so I was cautious about setting up an automatic transfers. I had thought that I didn’t say yes to an automatic transfers but somehow the function was enabled. Tried to get their CS to cancel the transfer but they refused and referred me to some articles. I am not able to withdraw money by myself because they still haven’t ‘arrived’ in plum? It wasn’t an instant withdrawal as they have claimed. The app is super complicated to use and it’s hard to get out as well. I really regret downloading it and linking it to my debit account.
TLDR: I regret downloading it, I think typical mobile banking apps do everything they do except maybe their investment fund. Still don’t think it’s worth it, given you need to spend so much understanding how the app works.

Life changing

I have been in debt since I started working at 18. I am nearly 50 now. I have never been able to control my spending, save, budget, any of that sort of thing has always been alien to me. I found this app 6 months ago. OMG, it started with the app telling me to put a little aside. Then roundups, now I’m also adding to my fund when I get paid every month. I am genuinely in awe, the app tells me how much it thinks I can afford to squirrel away. In 6 months I have saved £500 without even noticing! Terrible just use a notepad and your banks saving account

Money takes days to weeks to appear on your plum making it all very confusing and hardly accessible support is absolutely useless giving the exact same answered for repeated questions if I ask the same question about the same issue 4 th time in a row it probably means the service you’ve given me didn’t work so don’t give me the exact same answer each time I come with the issue because it’s clearly not doing anything one time I’ve been straight up ignored I’ve sent a long paragraph explains my issue with screenshots to support my statement and the person whom I spoke to just viewed the message and gave me 0 response whatsoever. I used the pro version most expensive packet and it’s not useful at all you can do all the by yourself and a notepad and you don’t have to waste your money paying some company for it also most banks have higher interest rates then plum it’s just a better investment for you to do your savings alone you save money and stress wouldn’t recommend.

Brilliant

I absolutely love this app. I’m one of those people that finds it way too easy to dip into savings if the savings account is in the same app as my current account. Because Plum takes the money by direct debit, I just treat it as a bill and don’t even think about it. I can check up on my savings any time I like and access them if I need to but it’s far removed enough that I don’t the temptation to do so. I also like that I can split money up into different savings pots, put some inside into an ISA and tweak the level of savings deposited if needed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to automate their savings and keep them at arms length so they don’t get tempted to dip into them unnecessarily.

I found this app incredibly helpful and informative. As a student who’s in their overdraft money and payments get on top of me but Plum has a simple but effective format and the use of emojis in the app appeals to teenagers and students. The money maximiser feature looks to be incredibly useful for budgeting and setting money aside automatically. As well as this, the bills and offers feature allows me to keep track of all my subscriptions and if there’s one that I’m not using anymore I can easily cancel it and save more money. The app isn’t time consuming and is very quick and easy to use. By simply entering my next pay date it automatically sets aside some money for saving. It even saves money on days that it rains which I think was a fun feature to add. It also allows you to invest in certain companies and businesses which stand for different rights such as medics and eco green which I think is great for the younger generation.
Definitely recommend this app for those who want to save money for the future.

Annoying

I was curious to learn more about Plum, so I downloaded it. I think that the idea behind it is great; this app can also offer you some insightful graphs into your spending. What I found annoying was that a direct debit was automatically set up, without me being aware, to fund a savings account (that pays a paltry 0.25%pa). I have better ideas of what to do with my spare money than to place it in a savings account at a miserable 0.25%pa interest, thank you. (By using Internet I could find a bank offering a free access savings accounts and free access ISAs offering more than twice that interest, which is still low; but there are other investment options like putting it in your pension scheme; your cash & shares ISA, bonds…) The first payment was deducted by surprise, so I had to wait for over a day for it to reach my “Plum” savings account, and then withdraw it, and I’m now waiting for it to get to my bank account

DO NOT USE THIS

I found it very sneaky that they actually charge for a subscription service. It was not made clear to me, money was being taken from me and I did not know why it wasn’t showing up in my savings. It turns out they charge you for no reason. I now have money trapped in the plum account and I can’t get it out. I really wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, very sneaky It seems that they take these small amounts of change without you realising, but you never actually see it again.
I have asked customer service why a ‘subscription fee’ was taken when I never signed up for it and they just keep telling me about a subscription fee. I never subscribed????? And even if I did, I don’t see any benefit from it. Why would I want to pay you to take more of my money? Makes no sense.
Today they have taken a huge lump of my money leaving me extremely short and I can’t get it back for 4 working days, and it is a Friday which is splendid. Honestly the worst saving app. I am going to use my bank from now on. I have nothing but issues with plum. I have no idea how they are getting away with the subscription fee scam but I hope that people read this review and think twice about using this app.
I would appreciate if plum themselves stopped commenting on my reviews asking that I contact customer service as well, I have done so and it is absolutely awful.

Hi cameron I have signed up and used the app and have to say I absolutely love the organised layout with the pensions investments (very informative) etc and the fact that I can see the upcoming regular bills as it personally helps me organise a budget for each month, I also love the save the change feature as bad savers like myself will find it easier to save the tiniest amount!!!!! Furthermore, the fact that I can attach more than one account makes it accessible and easy to use. Improvements: tbh not much needed as i feel like it give explores a lot but maybe create a payment reminder tracker- monitor bills, subscriptions etc and make it more accessible by creating Website version or adding more languages so it can be translated and maybe a wish list feature where people have a saving area for the thing a they want to buy. Tbh I love the app and will be sharing it to friends and family as I feel Ik a lot of people who would find good use in this. Also, please tell me u have a feedback section for people to write reviews so it can be gained as more of a trustable app and people would know if it’s popular and can therefore trust their private info being on the app

Dreadful

I’m finding it impossible to delete my account. The first issue was that the app decided my overdraft was my money, and immediately withdrew everything and put me into overdraft (which I never use because there is a charge!!!). Whoever wrote the algorithm needs to seriously rethink how it deals with arranged overdrafts. Had to wait forever for everything to come through, which is absolutely ridiculous in and of itself, and when I was finally allowed to withdraw, it turns out there is a scheduled savings payment and I can’t close my account until it comes through, even though it hadn’t been taken yet and I’d cancelled the overdraft. The week after, when it finally did and I was able to withdraw it, it then turns out that there is some interest in a money maximiser pocket which I cannot withdraw from because I stopped paying for and closed the money maximiser feature! Honest to god the least intuitive app in the world, everything takes days if not weeks, and I thoroughly regret trying it in the first place.

Great App, Terrible Customer Service

This is a really great app and it has helped me save a lot of money, without having issues of going overdrawn like some have mentioned. However, if anything goes wrong, something doesn’t work or there’s a bug in the app, the customer service is terrible. No phone number is available to speak to anyone, so you are forced to use a messenger system within the app. I would have no problem with this if you could talk to someone in real time, but you have to wait for hours for a response each time and every response is from a different person. Just let me speak to one person in real time to get an answer to my problem.
I am at the stage of thinking I would heavily invest in my Stocks and Shares ISA because of the performance I have been seeing from them - however how can I invest thousands of pounds via a company I can’t reliably contact. It’s just not good enough and if it doesn’t change I’ll find someone else who is more reliable.

Brilliant but slow

I started using Plum again in January as the investing part really caught my attention. I have since been putting money from my other accounts into the investing part as a way to try and use my money to make more money, so far this is going fairly well, however there are dips and gains so I would strongly advise against using the investing part unless you are planning to keep your money in the account for a long period without withdrawing to see the positive effects as I was down roughly 3% after 1 month of investing but I’m currently up 3% after 3 months. The auto saves feature is good for helping but money away but be careful as it started to put away more money than I was comfortable with on the auto saves, so I reduced the saving level. The movement of money is quite slow so be prepared withdrawing and depositing money can take quite a long time to happen so if you potentially require access to your money quickly Plum may not be the best option for you!

Great app

I always wanted to open an investment account, never been across any apps that would catch my eyes until I saw plum may be on TikTok. I instantly download apps despite seeing lots of bad reviews which doesn’t make sense.
I have been investing for a month and have seen the investment going up and down and that’s fair and already have been hi-lighted the risk by plum and it basic principle of investment. I have plum plus but won’t recommend plum pro for worthless cashback instead download Quidco free for cashback and better.
I would advice for those confused user who think money is automatically taken out of their account but you are the only one in control of that. So when you log on to your account go to the brain section ,there is option called
1* automatic under rules you need to turn it off
so they won’t take money every 4-5days
2* Under automatic there is rounds up, you need to turn it off if you don’t want plum to round up you spending to near pound and take the money.
3* under Round ups you have pay day which will be perfect for most people to select the specific amount you want to invest every month. And you can easily turn it off if you are short of money and can select the date you want them to take the monthly amount.

Such a life changer

I’m not normally one to write a review on an app, but I felt I need to join the thousands of other reviews to say just how awesome this app is. I struggled to save to pay off credit cards, as the money was always needed else where...or so I thought. Plum skims the perfect amount from your balance so that you won’t notice it missing, I’m not sure in the complete algorithm but it works perfectly. You can fine tune the amount saved, from minimal to the maximum plum sees fit to take. You can set goals, and then split deposits between these goals accordingly, great for saving for specific cards for me. The investments feature is nice too, a small portion of deposits goes there and is building up nicely now. In the 3/4 months I’ve had plum I’ve saved over £1k that I wouldn’t have before, allowing me to pay off the whole balance of one of my cards.

Want to go overdrawn?

My youngest daughter also recommended this app to me but unlike the other reviewer, it’s one of the worst moves I ever made. For one thing, and this is important, they have inaccurate income and expenditure information for me. Consequently more money is coming out than I can reasonably afford. How can Council tax, TV licence and car insurance not be noticed when they say that they take several months regular expenditure into account? I’ve been paying these for years! Now I have funds in transit and can’t close the account until that is cleared. Transactions take forever.
They suggested I change my energy supplier to Octopus last month. I agreed and nothing happened. Today they sent me an email saying they forgot to action the request.
It’s all far too focused on image and being informal in an attempt to convince us that it’s efficient and effective. Neither is true.
There are too many options and choices and frankly it’s confusing. I asked to speak to a human, that’s what they call their staff, and the human in question took twelve hours to email me back. Added to that, the response was curt and unclear. I wish I’d never heard of this outfit with all its chummy messages and ta-dahs every time you log on.

Good for most but issues for me

I downloaded this app on recommendation from friends. On the surface, the app is well designed and has a personal and friendly interface. However I ran into a few issues. The most important being that my money completely cleared out the app without notice and it wasn’t clear where it went. I was left confused as to how this happened.
I went through their customer service, which is essentially messenger style and their only form of customer service. It took a few days for them to get back, which was uncomfortable. They assured me that it was going back into my account but never explained how or why. It could of been resolved sooner and with less hassle if I could of spoke to someone directly.
I also didn’t feel the benefit of their savings as much as I’d of liked whereas my partner did.
Might just be a fluke but I was underwhelmed by this app and was left disappointed. Wish it could of worked but instead I’ll be trying a different service.

Fantastic but transactions take too long

Plum is great. It’s a simple and easy way to make saving and investing an everyday part of anyone’s life. It’s interface is excellent and it feels friendly and generally works very well. But there is one big let down: the transaction times. They’re unacceptable in 2020. You wait a week or more while your money doesn’t show up in any account and then eventually reappears. Even transactions in Plum itself take this long. They are so long that you actually lose track of where and what your money is doing and start to question if it’s disappeared completely. Why? Other applications process transfers immediately or on the same day. I assume that it’s to put people off from transferring money out but I really don’t know. Perhaps Plum can confirm why transactions take so long? If they made transactions quicker it would feel more trustworthy and make the app a 5 star masterpiece. Please improve.

Cannot fault it.

I’ve used Plum since 2017, and have just upgraded to pro as I really want to benefit from its premium services.
Plun is reliable, and leaves you completely in control of your finances. Plus, it’s so automatic you don’t even realise the savings adding up!
As a free member, you get notifications of when automatic savings will happen. You can set it based on how much you can afford, although sometimes it was a little bit random and wasn’t helpful with scarce amounts in my current account, but that was a personal unable-to-budget issue and I am weekly paid. Regardless, it was always comforting to have a separate savings account for emergencies or occasions.
The premium access definitely puts you in control more. I’ve been able to set savings to come out weekly to suit my pay days and even utilise the 52 week challenge and split it however I like between different saving systems I have set up with Plum.
One I am excited to see flourish is the investments in stock. It breaks down which are popular with users and makes it so simple to understand for beginners or people with none/limited knowledge of stocks and shares.
Can’t wait for more years with Plum and hope this review is helpful to those considering a savings app to help them financially!

Money Taken

I set everything up that would automatically take money from my account but none of them were due to take money until next month. But when I woke up this morning I had a notification saying that £7 had been taken from my account (by plum) and it was a notification from my actual banking app which means that the money was actually gone. When I went onto plum I checked everything but it won’t tell me anywhere , where my money is, why it got taken out or how I can get it back. It obviously isn’t in my other accounts (rainy day etc) because the balance hasn’t changed from what they were before the money was taken. I can’t get my money back now, and I needed it for something important I was planning on buying this week. Will definitely be disconnecting the app as now I realise how dangerous it is. I didn’t think it took actual money off of me I just thought it would appear that way to make me realise that I didn’t have it to spend, but it did take money off of me and now that app won’t tell me why exactly my money is gone or why they they took it? Will be deleting app.

Security failure

So, after you open the app you go to “log in” after which it asks for your email address, this then sends you an email which you then have to open to complete the log in process. I did this a few times to try and get the hang of it and that’s where things started to go wrong.
Every time I opened the email to complete log I, instead of asking for my pin it would ask me to create a new pin.
On one of the attempts I went to log in through the app, when I put my email address in I got one character wrong and didn’t realise until it was too late. Ok, so that was my fault but it’s human nature, however, there is now a possibility (however huge that may be) that someone with a very similar email address has received an email which if they open they can create a brand new PIN number and have total access to my bank account. I don’t know what the chances are with that but it still doesn’t fill me with confidence knowing this could happen.

Great App For Savers

I’m not or ever have been one to save, as I never want to transfer money into my account and if I do I just end up transferring it back and spending it. Plumb saves for you little bits at a time that you don’t even notice or make an impact on your balance. And it all adds up very quickly you’d be surprised, I was. You can tell it how hard or soft you want your savings to be at any time or switch it off all together. If you do decide you want to use the saved money you can withdraw it and it is in your account the same day. I’d highly recommend this for people that may find it hard to save as they say. Every little penny counts and it all ads up very quickly. I’ve been using it for around a year and never had a problem with it. So if you want to save without the hassle this is the App for you!

One day review

I downloaded your App at the suggestion of a friend. Great concept as my bank don’t currently offer the round up facility of my transactions. Within an hour you indicated that Sky were overcharging me - for broadband - I don’t have broadband with Sky? You’re notification could ‘suggest’ rather than assume. I declined the offer to look into my Sky broadband and was asked why on the chat. I tried to reply to it but unless there’s a pre-empted response provided I can’t tell you why - so why ask?! Today, I received a message asking me what I thought of my first day. Based on the above. I chose one of the two pre-empted responses ‘Needs work’. Your chat asked ‘Why did you choose the answer you chose?’ Again, no keyboard functionality available just a ‘Never Mind’ response to choose? Again, why ask if you don’t allow me to answer directly? I work in Technology, pitting the customer journey first and foremost and this is not an impressive start!

Good idea but slow

The time taken to withdraw money from your account, deposit into your wallet or into your investment is incredibly slow. Considering bank-bank transactions can be done almost insta royalty, it’s baffling that moving money from your account to the savings wallet takes 2-4 days to arrive. Investments are slower and seem to take 2 weeks.
Money that I manually deposited for investment was never invested due to an ‘issue with the buy order being submitted in correct timeframe’. I only found this out by asking them why my fund hadn’t been invested so it doesn’t seem to get flagged automatically. The fact it was never flagged or re-submitted automatically in the next buy order is a problem for me - this should never have been an issue.
For 2 years in, I think the fact that money can still get ‘lost’ is something Plum need to resolve ASAP. You shouldn’t be able to lose your clients money in your system and rely on them chasing you to pick it up. Until this is fixed Plum will never be a 5-star service.

No idea how it works, but it does!!

My youngest daughter told me about this app and to be honest I thought it was a scam of some sort... the idea of giving my bank details out made me nervous. Then my oldest daughter told me she had been using this app for a while now so I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did! You can choose how you save, casual, normal or beast levels and Plum skims the odd pennies and pounds out of your account that you wouldn’t - and don’t - miss. I chose the highest way to save, beast mode and I saved £272 in the first month... But how I don’t know!!! I genuinely haven’t missed one penny of it, so it was a lovely surprise when I went into the plum account and saw what I had! My husband has now joined up and he didn’t want to check it regularly, so left it well alone. He’s now wondering how the heck his Plum account has so much in it! I can’t recommend this app highly enough... I plan not to withdraw anything until next Christmas, it should be a tidy amount by then

Good if your not on a budget

Although the idea of this app is good and it has good potential the most annoying thing about it is this - I accidentally ‘deposited’ instead of ‘withdrew’ and you can’t cancel your actions (as far as I can tell!) despite doing it seconds earlier, it takes 3/4 days for the money to leave your account which is also annoying if your need to factor it into a budget, once it’s left your account it doesn’t show up in your plum account for a further 3 days - it’s like it’s in this weird money limbo?! A lot of people probably wouldn’t be bothered by this but if money is tight and you need to transfer it back you can’t do it until it appears in your plum account a few days after being taken from your actual bank 🙄

Great app! But...

The plum app is fantastic, you can alter how much the app saves for you and these small but often transactions build up so quickly and rather unnoticeably. I’ve been using the app for one month now, I’ve put £50 away manually and from the round-ups and automatic transactions I’ve managed to build up around £120-£130 In total.
(I have mine set to “normal”)
I was unsure about the app in the first place because I didn’t want it to save too much money for me and then leave me skint, which would then leave me waiting ages trying to withdraw my money back out of plum into my bank account...
Which leads me into my “but” very nicely...
If I had one issue with the app it’s that it seems to take 3-6 days to move the money from the bank to plum and I’m assuming it’s the same on the way back out. If you save too much and need to withdraw this money in an EMERGENCY situation it’s probably going to cause you a lot of bother.
However, guys & girls, this is a savings app. The idea is to set it up for reasonable savings you can afford to forget about and leave them to build up!
I would recommend this app to anyone - whether your terrible at saving or you already save pretty well, this app will surprise you. It’s simple and affective.
Plum, if you can work on making the transactions faster for the future, it’ll make all the difference and it would be a 5 star from me.

Logs me out

I have an ISA with my bank but struggle to save because I can see the money is there so end up spending rather than saving. With Plum, I have turned notifications off so it takes money without me knowing. I also do manual deposits & the round up which is where they round up any monies you have used paying by card over the week. Deposits are a bit slow - id rather the money leave my account straight away when doing manual deposits as its easy to dip into it when its still in your account 2-3 days later but other than that its great. Withdrawals are quick and are back in your account either same day, or the following day! I have already recommended them to lots of people. Its great if your normally pretty bad at saving money!!
