Missing bits
Bits go missing when you merge items, you have to go through a report that asks for info about you that should already be filled in, it is so annoying I think the tech’s just want you to get so annoyed that you do not bother doing the report.
Also be careful when buying packs they do not turn up if you have the purchase confirmation from your bank, there is nowhere in the game to report this problem

Connection issues
There is constant “connecting to server” issues, sometimes it goes within about 5 seconds sometimes 5 hours.
The resolution needs to have an option to be decreased as causes iPhones and some older androids to overheat.
It struggles when tapping to create extra buildings, you can press it 10 times and sometimes it will create one or all at once with a huge delay.

No support for bullying
The game itself is fun, I have enjoyed it with a group of friends for over a year now but many times we have had to change server due to the developers failure to address bullying and racist, sexist behaviour from high paying players.
I realise that it is a business but to continue to let high paying whales run amok is unacceptable.
My account was muted for some reason for over 3 weeks, this ruined the game for me as R5 of the most powerful alliance in a time of war. They tried to fix my broken account over 7 times! My money (£500+) was effectively laid to waste by their inability to explain or fix my account.
If you have thousands to put in to this game, you’ll probably have fun, if you’re free to play or a low spender then at some point you will encounter unchecked racism, sexism, homophobia and generally abusive language.
I recommend finding another game and not supporting this way of gaming.

I play this game. I like this game. But it has been developed well to form addictive habits and includes elements of gambling. I like the strategy and the social side of this game but it ruined by the overriding PAY TO WIN mechanism and it is VERY EXPENSIVE. 1 general Skin for your base is like £180!!!! (Also read below update) I would not recommend that children play this game due to the addictive side and gambling elements at the core of the game. Having said that, I do have fun playing it myself. But because of the addictive side, gambling and Pay to Win I can rate it more than 3 stars.
UPDATE: A current event involving buying of Flower Vouchers means that 1 BASE SKIN (Hyperion) would cost you £674!!! One hero would cost you £180!!! I’m sorry but that is just utter utter greed on behalf if the developers!! Rating reduced !!!

You need to make this game so under 18’s can’t play it. It’s a game, where it says you can play for free. But we all know. These games are greedy always bringing out new stupid none related events and you have to buy stuff. Just to keep up. Having kids under 18 buying packs is not responsible.
It’s also full of these kids, who just open their mouths and chat rubbish ( bullying ) . Swearing and stuff. Open your eyes top battle. Increase the age range. Like the other guy said. It’s a fun game until you have to gamble. Pay for stuff and watch who you chat with.

Bug needs to be fixed
There is a bug with level 26 and up barracks- clicking on it and no vehicles are being trained but the counter shows.

River game state that it is against topwar tos to be abusive and disrespectful in the chat forums, but allow players to make derogatory and degrading comments about other players dead relatives… the punishment for this… being muted for 24 hours. 1 player has now been muted 10+ times for this, and as soon as they come off of being muted, they start straight back up with the same comments. It seems topwar will not delete or deal with these kind of players, and should be ashamed of how they deal with such problems. Don’t download any river game apps

Good game shame about the players
This game is great for wasting a few hours. It’s your usual build and merge format with added socials due to the chat. The downside is the abusive nature of the conversation especially in “world chat”. All the isms are present with race and gender taking usual top billing. If the developers actually did anything about that this would be a 5 star game. Server 1571 is particularly hateful I have found.

After the new update the devs have made all bases under the power they was at. Players are now at least 2 months behind in power which they was at. What a joke I’ve opened many tickets and they just don’t care.

Pay up or be destroyed
Freemium model makes it playable for all but if you don’t pay, you will fall behind quickly and be destroyed in battle by those who do.
Regular events compound this, normally with a two tier reward system for this who pay and those who don’t/can’t.
So, if you don’t have spare cash to splash a few times a week, you can eliminate any thought of progressing fast and being useful to your alliance, who incidentally, won’t pay you much attention if you a slow to level up.
Pleasant enough as a free to play but it’s a game for deeper pocketed gamers if you like to win.

Game ruined by the developers
Unfortunately the game is ruined due to the continuous updates that get done which only support those players who pay significantly with in app purchases. Everyone else ends up worse off due to them resetting the progress. The developers are unable to identify the accounts which use bots and allows players only in Japan to pay less compared to all other countries which is a disadvantage to everyone else. Avoid unless you have a limitless credit card and happy to have your progress just deleted and others left with additional benefits. Such a shame.

Previously good game that has lost its way
For much of last year this was an excellent and fun war game. However recently, it has really lost its way. The clearest example is the frequency with which new heroes are brought out. Instead of letting us all get used to each fighting hero and bringing out new ones every 6-8 weeks, they are coming out now every week or two and completely devaluing the previous fighting heroes that we have been building. This is ruining the game - forcing players to churn heroes all the time and making many of our efforts obsolete within a few weeks.

Awful game
People you meet in this game are awesome. However to play the game and keep up with the server you need to spend huge amounts of money. To even be considered strong, thousands need to be spent, and that’s only for your server. Compared to others ten’s of thousands need to be spent. All the devs care about is money, they are very greedy and release new heroes every 2 weeks. New base skins every few weeks. All these need to be bought in order to try and compete. One base skin costs about £200. Devs don’t listen back to player feedback at all, they just implement more money grabbing events and features.If your looking for a game where you don’t plan to spend money, then this definitely is not a game for you. Thousands need to be spent in order to be considered ‘average’.

Used to be better than Game of War as you didn’t lose months of hard work if you got zeroed, quick to recover. As a free to play player, the game has now significantly changed and progression is now impossible. If you want to play and fight (and this is a war game), you have to spend significant amounts to play and have some success. Stay away unless you are prepared to splash the cash.

Avoid, addictive cash hungry game
I’ve played this game for over a year and have spent a small fortune on it.
It’s fun for awhile but to compete with other players you have to spend a lot(thousands of dollars). Once you start paying you are hooked since now you have invested.
The game launches new elements weekly, everything is designed to keep you spending.
The makers of this are awful at listening to paying customers. Support says they they will pass messages to developers; why are developers deciding on what’s best for players? Cheaters with bots are ignored(this isn’t a guess, the developers published this on discord). Anyone trying to discuss these issues is silenced on discord.
They make core changes without warning. So be careful as the game you start paying for may drastically change. E.g it used to be you could play against players from around the world, but without warning you’re now confined to regions.
You can indeed play this game without spending, but good luck with that. You’re bombarded with casino like features daily and anyone paying for features will always beat you.

Repetitive screen tapping that just gets longer and longer…
The games positions itself as different from others in that you don’t have to wait for upgrades…if you have gold and you can merge, then you can upgrade. At the beginning it all goes very quickly. Very soon you hit level 50 and all changes start to take time… unless you are willing to part with cash and buy gems. Battles are just about the quota of your troops against those of the opposition. The highest number wins… no more no less… and more importantly no skill. While you are doing all this they throw at you a myriad of repetitive mini games that you blindly click on. In the end it just becomes a complete waste of time

This game is super addictive! Although it has one pop up about buying something,that’s all! I’ve been playing the game for a Month and it is one of my favourite mobile games. Another plus about it app no ads (unless watched for a small amount of in game currency bot you have to do this manually). I highly recommend this app!

Great until you get to level 50
After level 50 it’s a tedious treadmill unless you have very very deep pockets.
This game suffers from the same fate as all of these types of games. Pay to Win and Free to Play all on the same server. Pay to Win players become bullies and ruin it for Free to Play players trying to mind their own business.
I was building my army when there was a SVS event that everyone had to be part of and my base was attacked several times without me knowing and almost all progress lost. I have deleted the game because of this - it was totally unfair and unnecessary; smacks of dev tactic to make you feel like spending more money.

I play this game a lot !
Love the game. It’s not a short term affair but it is a lot of fun especially on KE days. The additional events like SvS and everlasting land are fun even if you have a small base like mine and the rewards can be very good if you bother to get involved in these events. Preparation is key and this game has enough ways of boosting your strength and efficiency to keep it interesting.
The one area which I think could be improved in the actual game is the World Boss Attack which happens 3 times a day. There should be more distinct levels for more players. Not higher rewards just more detail within the levels. Now only the top 3 players are named this is not good, it leaves the rest of us out of the loop and relegated to just a place number. It would be more competitive if players were trying to improve their position within groups of ten perhaps ie groups 1-10, 11-20, 21 -30....etc. It would be nice to know who we are competing with as well. A bit of friendly competition for Boss attacks at all levels might encourage people to play a bit more

Really disappointing
Really disappointed with this game, it only appears to moderate the English language (including bottom!) and translates other offensive language, the reports sent to the game moods are ignored, there’s anti-Semitic, homophobic, racist, sexist, vile graphic descriptions of child/family Disembowelment, players 40 levels higher are allowed to reign over new and inexperienced players making it near impossible to play as they have some kind of “God complex”, it has an age limit of 12 years plus, it should be more like X rated for the language used. I invested a fair bit of money in this game and have asked for a refund as the game is highly unsuitable and is not as it described. Due to reports not taken seriously not just from myself but other players I have had to go to Apple direct to get this reported and resolved properly. It’s such a shame as it’s such a good game in its concept just very poorly executed.
You took time to make up some rubbish apology yet the app is still rated 12+ and you refuse to give my money back!!!

Good enjoyable game but…
I would give more stars, however the developers seem to pummel you with goodies that can’t be used, particularly with the recent Transformers event. Lots of useless shards for Bumblebee character that now cannot be used, and the cost of some of the events in VIT is ridiculous particularly in Radar. Spend 30 minutes playing a day and within 20 minutes your out of the tokens called VIT which you need to progress and attack.
All in all a great way to meet new people virtually and a sense of team, but like all games, you need to seemingly spend a lot of cash to get anywhere useful.
I know a lot of people spend a lot of money on this game, and developers must be raking it in, but reduce the cost a bit, and better rewards not only in token costs but actual money costs.. £89+ is a lot for a development pack. 🤦🏻♂️🙏💰
More stars will come if you make it more accessible. But all round nice game. And do something about all the useless Bumblebee purple tokens. They’re just annoying.

Good game, but it is a bit boring.
This has been a good game for me for the past 2 or 3 days I have been playing it to see if it would get any good and make me happy about the gameplay but I just realised that I’m wasting time on playing the game it’s not that fun and there’s not that much options to do in the game but if they could add more features and options that are fun then I would change the review into something awesome! please add more features etc.

Addictive grinding
It’s a grinding building game, there’s not much strategy at all. Build, buy and grind your way to a better level defeat enemy’s on a world map.
There’s a slight gambling edge to it with “loot boxes” and buying gems to open them, there’s so much and so many different types of in-game currency that it becomes hard to track what opens what and what a certain point system is used for. Some of the actions are time based which obviously you can pay to speed up.
The graphics and animations are very simple with not much going on but can become crowded and chaotic quickly.
All that being said the positives are that all the points needed are free at fairly regular intervals the time to complete actions can range from a couple of minutes to many hours, but, this is fun.
It’s fun and doesn’t feel like your’re being cheated. I have spent money to make the game more fluid and it is tricky in how it gets you, couple of quid here, 99p there, know what I mean? But, the game gives you enough to pick up and play then put down again keeping the pace and you invested.
For me it’s fun and I’m invested now. I would recommend this to anyone that has a spare few mins in a day to concentrate on something that isn’t work. Its not kid friendly due to the invitation to pay for things.

I do like the idea of merging soldiers but in my opinion its not really strategy bc on a couple of soldiers actually fight. Also the ads which actually made me get this game. Theres loads of ads of this game which dont actually show the real game. Like theres a scooping ad which is nothing like the game and a naval one and saving people from the ocean but theres completely nothing in the game to do with naval warfare. Overall its an ok game. Hot Garbage
I found this game on an advertisement. It displayed people on rafts stealing and attacking each other, which is complete clickbait. Instead, it feels a rip off Boom Island (pretty sure it’s called something else now). The game is missing detail, with cash grabbing offers filling the screen. Not only is it expensive, but at the cost of having to watch adverts, I don’t think I should be getting spammed with cash grabs every 2 seconds. Besides, you build an island with defensive units, and expand these by the currency in this game being used to buy these. It’s just a loop of the same thing. Mobile games aren’t famous for graphics, which is fine. Low poly games, 2d games and more are good. Even some games are getting really realistic, and achieve this by optimising the device and graphics! This not only does not fit the borders of an original iPad (no external displays, emulators, …), putting these ugly black bars around most of my screen. The resolution is horribly low, me being able to count the pixels. Terrible game, needs severe improvements to be any good.

One of the best out there
I was looking for a game to play so I was searching the App Store until I came across this game. It is absolutely amazing. It is simple to understand everything in it is fun and wants to make you keep playing. Not going to lie, I spent 7 whole hours on this game yesterday and progressed so much. Thank you top war, during the pandemic this game has made my life just a little bit brighter.

Just like a lot of games like this, you start off lots to do and click on, building up fast until you get to level 25+ then it’s wait for all the free stuff once a day, it come in all together in about half hour wait 8+ hours to build equipment, 24 hours for a gathering march & level up grade if your lucky once a day if you play for 12 hours or more. The motto for the game is gold is the currency, but you can only buy things of importance with gems! & yes you get chances of free gems (watch ads 20 will get 300 a day) and that doesn’t buy a lot! So open your wallet if you want to get on faster.

Same as other games of this genre. You can play for free sure but don’t expect to be able to compete on any level. You are cannon fodder, used by guilds to help them research further by donating gold. You could drop 3-500 one month and be able to play half competitively for 2-3weeks until you fall behind again. Game requires you to drop a minimum of 300 every few weeks so that you can gain the upgrades required to play the actual game

Do you like ads?
First the positives, this game is GOOD. It’s not as slow as most other games, although the more you progress the slower it does get. You can make friends, lose those friends. It’s a story and you’re a character. Then there’s the in game story, also fun and you’re the Hero.
Then again. I am due to inform you this game no longer brings me joy, I see adverts everywhere that this game isn’t. A message, don’t be greedy. Don’t invade Russia you already dominate Western Europe (History reference) Especially when said adverts hate podcasts in the background (issue with YOUR advert specifically) I cannot listen to ANYTHING because your advert think it’ll get you another user.
Well it’s the opposite, you’ve lost me.

Misleading Adverts, mediocre game
Like many mobile games, this one is tainted by a completely deceptive ad campaign. The adverts appeared to show a cross between a sort of puzzle and strategy game. In reality it's just yet another city builder with some round based combat thrown in for good measure. The only major difference is that instead of just hitting level up, you merge lower level units and buildings.
The interface is a bit clunky and cluttered, and progression slows RAPIDLY if you don't pay money. It's not a bad game if that's what you enjoy, but it offers nothing new, and is quite clearly just another low-effort game designed to squeeze micro-transaction money out of people.
Also, as I stated at the beginning, I am sick of games using "gameplay" adverts that showcase a completely different game to the one they are advertising. I would happily play the game in the adverts. The game I got bores me.

Bring the Wallet
I have been playing this game for over a year and half now and I have to say, enjoy it immensely. I’m now a top level player and have dropped over £1k in to it. I would say, even given the investment, I’m a mid level player at best. To compete, the strongest players are upward of £30k investment.
That said, you can tick along nicely at no cost but it take patience. There are so many things to understand about the game it’s important to level up to around level 60-70 and get in to elite alliances. The experienced players hold the key to success and it’s important to purge the knowledge and advice of these players. I’d also recommend joining the Facebook pages and reading the forums.
This is not a game to play and think you can boss it. It takes a lot of time and energy but addictive and worth it with the friends you make across the World. You’ll spend just as long chatting in the alliance, World and Discord chats than you will playing the game.

This game was addictive since I was level 3 now I am level 13 and I have a level 18 duel helicopter but I used to have a level 19 helicopter then after a few battles it went to 18 and I was annoyed so I rate it a 4 because it is a waste of money just for a level 19 helicopter then went to 18 plus now I have to work to get my 19 back

Presumes too much :. Poor on many levels
It looks slick. The mechanics, I’m sure a fine. I’ve played tower defence games before but certainly no expert so the Intro/Tutorial is So put as to be non-existent. At no point is anything explained, just merge these soldiers, level this up, repeat and then suddenly you’re deep enough into the game to have no idea what you’re doing why or how?
I could say more..bcos like others point out, I feel for the advert showing expanding an island with a soldier on it (if the game had started like that it would’ve been better!)
The overriding game mechanic is:
1.)merge this; 2.)tap this; 3.)pay us some money to upgrade/speed up/level up x ; 4.)return to #3; 5.) pay us to enter into the next layer of complexity ( that we can’t be bothered to explain to you bcos we reckon you’ll pay even if you don’t really get what’s going on!)

Poor customer service
As many have said the customer service is virtually non existent. As a game I enjoy it but if you are thinking of buying any packs then think again. You do not get what is advertised and when you complain they respond once and then close the chat so you cannot respond to them. I complained about a permanent skin they were advertising as complimentary with a certain pack. After 30 days they took the skin away. When I complained and pointed out the advert did not mention it was for 30 days only they changed the wording on the advert. But I still have the screenshots of how it read when I purchased it. And now they delete any message I send to them without response. I even emailed the developers and they responded once and now do not respond.

Gets repetitive quickly and has no challenge
This game isn’t fun at all. There’s no sense of challenge. This could be fixed by adding more rewards from attacking rival bases instead of just coins.
The level progression is slow and is very much a grind unless you get out your credit card.
The game in general gets very repetitive very quickly.
The devs should get inspiration from the clash of clans model.
The game is unique with its merging mechanic but the battles are just generic and lazy

Top war review
I enjoy the game but am just going to say it is barely anything like the adverts which I don’t like. It’s a good game other than that and overall enjoyable but it gets a bit boring after a while and when you get further in the game it gets harder and harder as you don’t get as much gold as you need to upgrade. Would recommend this game but as I said before is nothing like the adverts. The community is kind and can be helpful to newcomers in the game and I like that.

Gambling game
This game has a 12+ rating. If that’s guidance for parents then this is completely wrong. Apart from being totally different to the graphics shown it’s totally about pay to win. A lot of in game purchases with gems is about chance and not fixed rewards. So it’s gambling. To progress game it’s hard to compete with guys that buy all. Power distribution is so large between levels you better just lay down and die if you get attacked by the next higher level guy. Content is poor as well and events are next to useless. One star I needed to give but should be zero.

Terrible
Customer service is the worst I have experienced on a game. The game pressures you into buying packs to compete against other bigger players (some of whom I’m convinced are bots) after buying packs i experienced harassment and bullying and had to move server- I could not use packs I had bought and customer service would not help me to transfer spends, or progress. They take your money and leave you helpless ! You buy packs, and then next week they have no value, and there’s something else you need to buy instead!
They do not police the chat, and they have no protocols for bully’s or harassment.
This game could be fantastic but I have been massively let down.
I am now having to go to apple directly for a refund as topwar have not even responded to my customer service emails.

Pathetic Prices
The game itself is great, it’s fun and I’m in a great alliance, but prices are stupidly high. You want me to pay £100 for my base to look like an attack helicopter? Then another £50 for my queue troops to look like cars? Prices are way too high, I Earn £10 an hour, so I need to work 10 hours just to get a stupid helicopter as my alliance base look, I know there are other ways to get looks for your alliance, but surprise surprise, for the event you need to buy stuff with money to get a higher placement in the event! You need to lower your prices.

False advertising
This game is nothing like all of the ads express it to be, most of the ads show a raft of soldiers attacking another raft of enemy soldiers but that is all CLICKBAIT. The real gameplay is merging soldiers and mines until you have enough money to unlock new islands and battle enemies. This would be a really good and fun mechanic but you don’t get to control your own soldiers so you have to PAINFULLY wait for them to fight the bots. Also you can’t lose one of these fights because your soldiers are always better than the botted opponents. There is a stage in the game where you can fight real people but like the other fights they take a very long time. Overall this is a CLICKBAIT game and is very long and BORING.

Would give it zero if I could.
Basically a fun game until you discover how diversifying the game is. Different hero’s, hero’s skills, skill lvls, basically, if you don’t spend money, you won’t become any good. Also with lvl 45 mechanical college, if you choose one you won’t be able to go back to choose the other one for 10K gems, which is roughly £80 worth of credit. Way to greedy, keep away or you might get addicted then spend lots of money to find out it is not worth it, they develop these games to get as much money as they can.

Troop training
For a game that’s using ‘no wait times’ as it’s main selling point, troops take an awful long time to train. I got to level 17 troops in two days, and a single tank takes 50 minutes to train.
Other than this the game is really good, and I especially like the real-time alliance competitions and the general idea of the game, I’m just a little frustrated that the game says it eliminates wait times for upgrades, and just puts that wait time into troop training (which is necessary for upgrades)

Just another expensive PvP
This is just a cartoon version of another player vs player game. You will either have to spend real money or you will just become a farm for other players who are willing to pay. I found the user interface overly complicated and was relying on notifications to find what I had to click next. Far too many many buttons that are really not needed. Combat units end up spread randomly across your base and I couldn't seen to keep things in order, which was just annoying. If you like pvp games there are better out there. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money and time on a game don’t bother with this one.

Nice game, Shocking customer support!
The game is enjoyable and fun to play, friendly people in alliance that help low level players and gain rewards to level fast and gain experience within the game. Unfortunately this game is let down by there horrendous customer support! I purchased items in the game with real money and never received the items £30 worth, I raised a ticket and to start with and they responded after a day or so, so far so good, I had to prove what the items were with pictures and list the individual items which I did and then no response, 1 week went by after several messages to them nothing, 2 weeks still noting despite me messaging every couple of days to ask where are the items I brought and why know one would give the common decency of a reply to say what was the issue or hold up. It has now been 30 days since my original request for the items and you guessed it still no reply from them for 3 weeks nothing! This has to be the worst customer service team I have ever had to deal with. And I say deal with in the louses possible term as barley not existence. I feel very let down by this company and game as have enjoyed playing and have spent a significant amount of money with them. Just be warned if you buy items and you don’t get them you will not get them. I hope someone from the team/company will respond to me and resolve this.

Terrible support and rip you off at every chance
Alls fun with this game as long as you keep spending but be warned the very biggest spenders are panda’d to and if the developers do anything they dont like then you may end up buying something that then gets debuffed and then have to spend weeks chasing and chasing the developers for answers to be given false hope and promises but never see the payouts “always please be patient.. will take a few days” a week or more passes you send another message same responses then a reply “this is what we will do... please wait a few days” never happens never have i ever wanted a way to get a full refund from a game in my life i feel completely cheated by the developers in a game that is otherwise fun but has turned into something worse than gambling as every purchase you make leaves no guarantee it will benefit you to the degree you had believed or hoped for as theres also so many glitches and mathematical problems with it 😢 1 star as the concept is great, but the overpriced over greedy developers severely let it down

Great game fun and really fair, I have played lots of games, however this it’s one of the most entertaining and challenging, the only issue it’s that you can get to the same server if you want friends to joint you, however this it’s also a benefit as a stronger level unit will not move and take over like it happens in some games, so it’s more fair to play.

Good game, missing details
I’m level 53 now and love the game but feel the game needs some important changes.
1) at level 53 unlocking area 31, the reward is only 2,567 gold. For someone who needs 950bb gold for an upgrade, and so far late into the game, the rewards aren’t acceptable.
2) levels are hard to come by now and unlocking land every 2 levels seems to be a marathon when a lot of your land is being occupied by training troops.
3) designing base, like most other games, a base designer mode has been introduced making it easier to style your base, especially as decorations play a huge role in the game.
4) when you attempt to attack a level 50 mercenary, you get 9 tanks level 260m. Where as a level 55 merc has only 3 tanks level 56M
5) finally when in private chat you can’t see what your typing with the white text and white background.

Really fun game
It’s the typical mmo that we all know and likely you play if you are checking this out! Differences are that the game has removed build and research times, instead you collect needed tech for them which is a bit more fun. The gameplay itself is a lot of fun though the battle mechanics are overly simple in comparison to some other games. I’m primarily FTP and able to keep up with most players so gameplay is quite balanced.

Top War: Battle Game
This is an excellent game to play with graphics to match. The reason why I have given this game a 5 star review is because the developers has drastically reduced the cost of purchasing items you would need in the game. If however they suddenly decided to put the cost back up then I and others would either walk away from the game or stop buying said items.
