Good idea but extortionate for poor sitters

19% of every booking is deducted from the sitter’s profit. 19%!!!! That’s extortionate. I cannot charge high amounts to cat owners who just want their cat to be fed and to feel a little less lonely. I love cats (of course) and that’s why I joined this platform, but taking home less than £20 for visiting another house TWICE a day downright depresses me. I can increase my prices but cat owners shouldn’t have to pay for that either.

Most helpful site for cat owners

I’m greatly thankful for Cat in a Flat! Such a peace of mind to know where to turn to to find a reliable vetted cat sitter in the local area to take great care of your cat! I was very anxious to leave my 11yo rescue cat alone for the first time. The Edinburgh Cat Owner site recommended CIAF and I’m so happy that I found the most wonderful cat sitter (Hannah P in Edinburgh) who I could trust completely, she send lovely pics and videos throughout of a very happy cat, which made me very happy in return (slightly jealous tho because Coco had such a great time with her 🥰) It’s such a gift that you can go on holidays safe in the knowledge that your cat is well cared for, safe and happy! And the service the cat sitter provide is also affordable which makes it even better! I cannot praise and recommend the cat in a flat site and the sitters enough!! Thank you so much 😻

Nice and easy

This is a great app! Love that there are many sitters around. Low cost to pet owners and easy to use. The only improvement could be a tighter mechanism to deactivate sitter profiles if they are not online for a while. Had received no response from quite a lot. People created their profiles and left for good probably. Met the best sitter we could have imagined though!! Thank you cat in a flat!

Reliable, caring and capable cat sitters

Cat in a Flat* got me out of a big pickle. Let down by our ‘Goto’ Cat Sitter recently, I was trying to find another local sitter, as no suggestions were forthcoming from family and friends.

Within two days of my request going online with (CinaF*), I was sitting with the loveliest local lady, Lynda D. Who has taken care of my ‘Furbabies’ last week, discussing their needs and the process through CinaF.

CinaF allowed us to book the dates, provisionally, Lynda then confirmed, once my dates to be booked out were confirmed, alongside payment details. Payments were all taken care of by the Application; automatically, to ensure Lynda was paid for her time. They take a percentage, in respect of administration.

CinaF will assist if any sitter can not make the agreed dates and, from what I understand from my conversation with Lynda, takes good care of their sitters. Insurance is through the Application, in regards to protecting you from my experience, of a sitter letting me down at short notice.

I will be recommending the site to my fellow cat lovers, and for local cat lovers, Lynda D. She is fabulous! :D

Quite the relief

Knowing my cats are in safe hands in their home comforts rather than put in a cattery while I was on holiday was a much more comforting feeling. Once you get to know a sitter you like you’ll feel way more confident booking with them again in the future. Having pictures and regular updates is super reassuring. I wish I’d known this was an option sooner!

A great site for cat owners who prefer home care to catteries

Recently used cat in a flat. Easy to use. I did a search in my area, several good options, contacted a couple and had fast replies. Had a meet and greet and booked a lovely lady called Helen. 100 % felt at ease whilst away as had regular updates and returned home to a happy cat. Will use her services again and recommend this app.

Great concept, app is clunky

I love the concept and recently just completed my first two bookings. As a cat lover, I’m so glad something like this exists.

Other reviewers have stated issues with fees. Cat in a Flat maintains that the Stripe fees are included in the price shown, but that in fact is not true. I have done a 10 day booking and in app it tells me I’ll make £103 but when Stripe finally pays out, it’s more like £83. Which is significantly less. I would still use the app and accept bookings, but I wish the payout shown in the app was accurate.

The UX on the app isn’t great. It is functional though and does seem to get the job done, but the experience really lacks finesse. Its slow to transition from screens and the information hierarchy on the Home Screen doesn’t really make sense. As a designer myself, I find the experience unpleasant. I think if some improvements were made and bugs were fixed this would be such an amazing app! I have ideas and would love to share them on how to make things better!

Good way to find cat sitters

We’ve twice needed cat sitters for slightly unusual requests: a 3 week holiday and another time: two small kittens and two adult cats for a long weekend. In each case we found a suitable local person.

Generally ok but on a regular basis the app can be glitchy - saying it’s waiting for the server to reply. Also the app had a bit of a flaw that it wont show you owners details the day the booking ends. I had a booking that was only for one day which meant I was struggling to get hold of the owner.

Best app for pet owners

Going away and leave part of your family behind can be stressful. Cat in flat allows you to have a likeminded pet lover to help. What I like the most is that I can pick someone that lives really close to me, someone with knowledge on special needs cats, someone flexible on your requirements, and you can choose based on your budget . So far I’ve been very happy with the help received. I can plan my future holidays knowing I am covered.

Worst app ever

I haven’t found a sitter yet, I’ll adjust my review based on that when I do but for now just going to review the miserable user experience this app is. I’ve never used anything on iPhone so bad as this, there’s nothing good about it, everything is slow, small, close to unusable, horrible, the lack of taste is just appealing, and really it’s just a potato of a website thrown in an app shell, if this is the best service we have it shows how much of a gap there is in this market. So I really hope it works to find good sitters cause nobody deserves to use this disgusting app.

The app is very buggy, shows messages as “read” when they are not, and generally is not dependable.

This is not good when you’re trusting a stranger to come to your house and look after your furry friend. The app being rubbish made my first use of the service incredibly stressful.

Don’t recommend, BAD CX

I used this app and ask two pet sitters to take care of my cat. They had good reviews but they always made mistakes. For example, it often happens that they left the flat leaving the light on. Plus my cat got sick after the pet sitting and I expected that the app provider would compensate for it but they turned it down as it’s not exceeded their threshold (120BRP).

Great opportunity for kitty parents & sitters-poor app design

I’ve had many a job & love it. The only downfall is the app is actually very slow, emails can be 2-3 days late leaving the parent thinking you haven’t replied. It’s also extremely clunky & the functionality could do with a lot of work. I’ve resigned myself to just logging in daily as I’ve lost several jobs due to not getting emails. I als think that the parents should have the common decency to just pop a quick, “thanks but I’ve withdrawn the job/accepted elsewhere/cancelled the job” rather than it just being unavailable as it leaves us wondering why. Just a bit of respect/feedback for sitters.

My time with Catinaflat

I have been with catinaflat for many years, with no problems at all. They manage the payment system which makes life easy and not having to raise invoices. Also, payment is guaranteed as clients have to pay at the booking! Notifications are always sent via your communication method and reminders are set in place via them. Always an excellent service

Intuitive and nice interface

Been using this app for many years, it’s well designed from a graphical point of view, and the intuitive interface makes it a pleasure to use. My only issue is that sometimes there appears to be glitches where messages disappear whilst in the middle of writing them, or when trying to send messages I get an error saying that the server isn’t responding, but it usually works after a few goes.

I have not one complaint about them it is very well thought out they are absolutely amazing I recommend them as an employer.

Life changing

I feel so hateful this app exists. I have a 17 year old diabetic cat. I need to be home every 12 hours to feed, wait 30mins then inject. I tattoo and travel so much and suddenly I can’t stay late at work, I can’t travel I can’t do anything I used to. I’d do anything for my cat and she’s cost me over £8000 in vet bills after she got sick then suddenly had diabetes and year and half ago. Family helped but it’s a lot to ask. Now I’ve found an amazing woman who can do the specific times I need, stay with her and inject her correctly whenever I need. I can now travel for work again, have a life again. It’s amazing! Pets are a responsibility and it’s hard to leave them but the care here is wonderful. Honestly it’s changed my situation completely. It needs more advertising though! Very grateful this exists thank you!

Reliable and easy to use.

This app is amazing. From the security it offers to how easy it is to find the sitters and use the app. It has definitely change my life as I can have the peace of mind of going away but leaving my cat at home with no stress.

High rate fee for sitters and spy on users

I’ve use the app to sit for cats a few times.

The chat service doesn’t work properly and I’ve had to depend on WhatsApp to keep in touch with owners.

They suspended my account claiming that I offer owners to pay me outside of the app to sit and care for their kitten for a month. Changing rates for a single booking is hard to figure out on the app, so this was in fact true. Also lowering the price of each visit to £11 (as the owners were asking me) on a 19% fee, made no sense to me.

However the only way they could have known about this offer was by reading private communication between me and the owners. So, yes, Cat in a flat READS what sitters and owners say inside the app’s chat box.

After suspending my account Cat in Flat wanted me to inform the owners the booking had to go trough the app. I ended up suspending the booking.

I spend 40 min to an hour on each visit to make sure each cat receives a great care. Travel time is also part of the the equation of each sitter.

I love animals and want to give owners the care they are paying for. This doesn’t mean that sitter’s time is not to be value. Charging a 19% fee, forces sitters to elevate rates to the point that is not useful for either party to engage with this type of service. Other apps are charging 15% .

Sadly Cat in a flat can’t understand how their users approach this service. Apparently loving animals comes at a high cost.

Awful service

Decided to use this service after seeing its amazing reviews. Little did we know what would happen. Our sitter ignored all our instructions and decided not to turn up for the last day. This left our cats without food, water and dirty litter which stunk the house out. We are now nearly three weeks from this awful experience and still no resolution from the so called customer service. No refund or update has been given to us. It seems from further investigation that this app does not look into sitters properly like they claim. Would advise people to avoid at all costs.

Be careful when you click cancel

I accidentally clicked cancel thinking it would cancel to send a message but it just cancelled my booking. It didn’t even ask “are you sure you want to cancel your booking” or anything. I went to re-book but it charged me for a cancellation fee. I had to contact the customer service explain them what happened and give me a refund for the cancellation fee. I hope they will improve their website.

Easy to use and gives you peace of mind

I’ve used the service twice and find it very easy to find a cat sitter with reviews that live nearby and pay securely. When I moved homes I was worried about arranging care for my cat when I’m away but this takes all the hassle out of it.

The use of the app could be improved in getting more easily from/to bookings, messages…. But apart from a few technical tools that could be made more user friendly, this app is a great tool to find local cat sitter. My first experience with it was great (found a great sitter, very local)

Fantastic Cat Sitting Service

This is our first time using a Cat Sitter and Cat in a Flat and we could not be more pleased. Natasha was brilliant, she was genuinely interested in our British Blue cat, she followed all our instructions and looked after our cat and our house. She was reliable and responsible and provided updates on our cat every time she visited and also sent loads of photos. It was such a joy to arrive home and see how happy our cat was- he looked very relaxed and content and this was due to being able to remain in his own environment and being well looked after. We would definitely recommend Cat in a Flat and in particular Natasha.

Good services, poor app

Not rating the services which are good, but the app. Apart from the search with works well, the app can be a pain to use: It doesn’t always refresh, navigation is tedious, ie it’s hard to find your messages. It took three attempts to upload pictures (on wifi). I haven’t managed to set up notifications as the app doesn’t show in the app list in my iPhone notification settings. I’d recommend accessing Cat in a Flat via a browser rather than the app. I repeat, the service offered is good, I highly recommend them.

Great service but not so great app

I have been using the app for a while now as a cat-sitter and have secured a lot of bookings through the service. I have a few return customers now which is fantastic but the only complaint is that the app is not reliable.

I often get connection errors and messages saying the server could not be connected and that I could either wait or retry. This means I’ve missed important messages from owners or can’t get into my older messages to check on certain points.

I end up having to get the owners numbers so that I can confidently ensure I don’t miss any correspondence whilst I care for their cats.

Brilliant for cat owners

Such a great service. Finding someone to look after my cat when I’m away is now never a problem. I found a wonderful cat sitter through the app and have booked her many times now. The app is easy to use and facilitates the whole process from beginning to end. I don’t know what I would do without it!
