The sounds the narrators it’s just gorgeous!

The only downside is I struggle with looking at bright light and I can’t figure out how to turn it onto dark mode I don’t think it’s possible.

I really can’t recommend this enough !

Is it possible to get an older version of this app?

I recently accidentally upgraded this app on my wife’s iPad and she wants to get the old version back - prior to Christmas 2024.

The current version is too complicated for her, and the screen background has become light, which she cannot cope with.

Sound quality varies

I love the content of this app: its daily devotionals are thought-provoking and comforting, rooted in scripture and probe challenge me to think differently about my daily struggles.

However the sound quality seems to have deteriorated hugely. Some recordings sound as though they’ve been recorded on a phone and sound muffled and distant. This is really disappointing. I notice that the night prayers, in general, have better sound quality. The sound quality was much better in past recordings.

This suppliments bible reading and personal prayer in a unique way. Helping me pray about things that would not otherwise spring to mind in a beatiful app with well made, well thought out devotionals.

My only request would be for an autoscroll that would follow the audio!

Breakfast refreshment

We listen to the Lectio 365 reflection each day over breakfast and it’s a great day way to start the day. For me it’s important to ground and recenter myself in God and the content, the music, the prayers in the reflection really work well in this. Perhaps the most important thing is the sincerity and authenticity of each speaker. There’s not a heaviness or criticism but simply a loving embrace into the centre of God’s love and forgiveness. This app is a blessing

This is an excellent app. Really well set out, lovely music. As well as the Bible passages, there are lots of extracts from poems, books etc… I really feel the creators of the app were anointed when they set out the various sections. Thank you! This app has changed my life and is my daily companion. I love the it has day and night prayers. What a gift. But PLEASE toggle music/noise on/off

Love it. But the background drone (the “yearning robot monks” in particular) is unhelpful all the time; please make it optional. A few reasons: 1) it has become a distraction for many (who gently mention it in other comments too) 2) accessibility- with hearing impairments- it makes speech less intelligible 3) it could be used with other music from other sources (like my running app having Spotify access from within the app) allowing more appropriate options to be chosen 4) or just to enjoy the silence. 5) maybe an upload portal where composers can offer their loop-able compositions - as their offering to lectio - meaning you’d have more to choose from (still optional though!) But this comment doesn’t take away from the enormous privilege it is to be alive at a time where this resource and connection is freely available. So YHANK YOU ALL. xx

Overall great initiative with this app

There is a small lack of basic reasoning/common sense for example a topic that’s core was racial inequality but with no prayer over that instead a random unrelated prayer over gender inequality (which elsewhere would have been great made sense) and referral to Sundays as Sabbaths as opposed to the bible and dictionary (it would be better not to refer to Sabbaths at all unless it is Gods Sabbath) but overall a lovely tone and structure to the daily and nightly sessions and I look forward to more Holy Spirit guidance over the app and its leaders. It is a great initiative.

Love the content but not the change in Bible version

This app is very helpful and has wonderful content that draws me closer to God. However I am not a fan of the ESV Bible version. My daughter finds it difficult to understand (I agree with her) so I read the passage in my Bible app using either the NIVUK or CEV versions which have easier to understand language. I understand that it is good to vary the Bible versions but now Lectio is using the ESV way too often, such a shame :(

This latest update requires iOS13 or later thereby disenfranchising everyone with an older iPhone. Eg IPhone 6 will not install iOS beyond iOS 12. The Lectio365 app software engineers should be mindful of this when creating their updates to the app. It is important that Lectio 365 does not tailor their app to just the minority who can afford to acquire new phones every year. Lectio 365 is meant to serve the poorer members of society as well as those who care about sustainability.

I love this app and have shared with several friends but all of them have fed back that they find it difficult to follow the voice of Izwe Nkosi - who is currently doing the morning meditations. He has a very broad accent and it is quite hard to follow what he is saying.

Wonderful resource

I use Lectio 365 every morning before I start my busy day. It is calming, focussed and inspirational. Thank you.

But I often have to delete then reinstall the app because it gets stuck on the previous day’s reflection. I don’t usually listen in the evenings - is that the problem? Thank you.

Excellent study but the app constantly crashes

This is a great study - but the reason for the review is that the app seems to work for a while, then freezes, then I have to delete it and reinstall. This has happened on a number of occasions. It doesn’t happen with any other of my apps - so obviously is a bug which needs fixing. It’s a shame as the content is good - but the actual app itself needs to be fixed to resolve these issues.

A Labour of love

This is a great prayer app. Pete Greig and co have put a lot of work into these daily meditations. I used to read through the sequence of the morning meditation but now I use the audio version - just hit play and I am taken through a whole morning meditation sequence, scripture reading, contemplation, prayer, reflection. It isn’t quite Lectio Divina as I know it because it’s more directed than the traditional way of doing that practice but it’s still fantastic. I’m always happier praying my way through the New Testament than the Old Testament is the only thing I will say

Love it but I have to delete and redownload every few days

Absolutely love this app, and it’s been so helpful and impactful to my relationship with God. The only issue is that every few days it completely freezes up and I can’t go back to the menu or see any text. I have to delete it and redownload at least once a week, which is a bit annoying. Apart from that, the app itself is incredible.

Hugely helpful

This app helped me tremendously at a time when I was feeling physically, psychologically and spiritually very low. It was amazing how the scripture passages spoke to me personally on a daily basis and still do! My only gripe is that I find the background ‘music’ at times distracting, especially when it sounds like voices.

My wife and I use both the morning and evening devotions and love both.

Keeps crashing

Thank you so much for Lectio which we love. For some reason it keeps crashing on the iPad and the only way to get it working again is to delete the app and download again. Seems like a bug and not us! Reported this through the app ‘contact us’ section a week or so ago but haven’t heard back as yet.

User friendly and brilliant simultaneous spoken and written word.

I found this devotional app through a link in a Tearfund email and it is brilliant! I like the way I can listen and read at the same time, it really helps me to focus. The format based on Lectio Divina feels ancient yet modern and ecumenical. The length is perfect for a busy day and I like the background music (I have a severe hearing loss but the music is at the right level so as not to distract or mask the words) This is one of the most user friendly devotionals I have found, the combination of spoken and written word helps to soak it in. Wonderful!

I have, over the years, tried many prayer resources - but this, I have to say, is the best one so far! As I sit with my first cuppa of the day, I listen to this, making notes in a digital journal, recording each day what pieces of scripture I’ve reflected on. Sometimes, I need to pause it in order to continue reflecting, which is great, because it means I can take my time with where God takes me in my thoughts. It’s so good, I’ve recommended it to several people!

Fantastic, but..

This devotional is absolutely amazing. It’s just a shame the audio doesn’t work on my device & no feedback from the developers which is disappointing. Others are having similar issues too I believe. However, Lectio 365 is still an excellent resource which I’m continuing to use and recommend to others.

We have experienced exactly what another recent reviewer has described. We too have been enjoying Lectio365 for over a year and listen every morning...until beginning of July then the audio portion of the app never loads. We have updated iPhone software and uninstalled app and reinstalled but still nothing. We hope this issue will be resolved quickly, we miss listening.

Hi, this app has blessed me sooooo much - I love it - but after listening to it happily for months, I am now only able to read it and it’s not the same without hearing the word read.

I’ve contacted my internet supplier who assures me my internet speed and connection are fine, rebooted wi-fi, deleted the app and reinstalled it - (twice), had an 'Apple' technician take over my screen to try and fix it and I still cannot get the sound back. He suggested it’s the app itself and to leave a message here....this is my last chance before I leave it altogether. So I hope to find some help to fix it .......🥺

A beautiful gift

God has been blessing and changing so many of his followers through this app. It has been so beautiful to be on this journey with Jesus with you. As an external processor, having someone read to me and guide me through helps me sit with Jesus without distraction and really listen to him. Thank you so much for all the reading, prayer and team work that goes into these!

One small idea - it would be super helpful if there was a way to download the whole weeks worth of audio in one go on one button

Great app but keeps crashing

This is just about the best devotional app I have used. Very straightforward, well structured, option to listen to audio as you read along and importantly, you want to keep coming back for more.

The main issue for me is that it keeps ‘crashing.’ The content disappears. The only thing that remains is the audio for the last session that was listened to which continues to play even when the app is closed. No matter how much I open and close or tap the screen, it won’t refresh. My only solution is to delete and download again which isn’t great. I love using it so I don’t mind at the moment but it is wearing thin. Can you please look into it. I’m sure it can be rectified. Then it will be a perfect 5* from me

Helpful

I really enjoy this app. I personally find the background music unobtrusive and helpful, but acknowledge what those with hearing issues are saying. (An option to be able to mute the background sounds would be good) The only issue I am having now is that I have to delete the app everyday and reinstall it to get the new meditation. It seems to get stuck on that day’s meditation.

Love this app to set me up for the day

Love this app. It helps me to focus on God and to set me up for the day. Love the voices, and how the scripture passage and questions offer an opportunity for us to reflect on God in our lives.

I am hard of hearing and have no problem with hearing and understanding everything- not true with other similar apps!

The only thing I would improve on - other than have the archive for longer - is to reduce the number of clicks to start each devotional.

Background noise

Would have given it 5 stars, except it has this really irritating background noise.

In the FAQs, it says you can’t turn off the music(!), though what you think this so-called music adds is beyond me. You should talk to some of your hard of hearing friends about how difficult it is to distinguish speech from background noise.

Also there is a bug in the feedback option which you can’t report as the feedback option can’t be used. The send button is at the bottom where it gets covered up by the keyboard, please move it to the top right as in this review option.

To all those who’ve worked hard to produce this app, thank you. As a Mum with young kids, it’s helping me to slow down, fill up, reflect and pray. I also appreciate how relevant it is to current events as it has helped me to respond to them in prayer. Thank you so much.

Fantastic & Relevant

What I love about this study is that it stays relevant to what is currently happening in the world around you. It isn't something that was written ages ago and therefore dated in places - no, the writer grafts current events into each study. For example, there was a week focussed on the Covid outbreak, another on Pentecost and this week's study has been inspired by the George Floyd murder, which was only 2 weeks ago. The speakers, especially the female, talks with great expression and because it is varied in content style (bible verse, prayer, confession, reflection, pause for thought) it holds your attention. Another great feature is the choice of audio, written words, or both. The background music has been carefully chosen and doesnt distract or annoy. The only disapointing aspect is the fact that the archives don't last forever. I wabt to end on a good point: the season when we were given snippets of Pete Grieg's prayer book were phenominal! It highlighted was a fantastic tool this book is and how even the most immature Christian can use it to draw closer to God. It's simple, honest and very helpful in showing how easy God had made prayer - humans complicste it. I will be buying his book and I highly recommend this app. I have had no problems with it.

A wonderful and powerful resource

This works so well to direct my thoughts and focus. Such a powerful ‘tool’ and one that I, my friends, and many others value.

One enhancement, if I may: enjoying the contemplative peace that I find myself in, the end of the background track feels a little abrupt and, more to the point, would be really good to continue on through the prayer and praise time in the stillness in which we invariably find ourselves led. Even if just the underlying tone. Could you please consider this.

Thank you so much for this devotional. I am being so blessed by it. Would it be possible please to have an option to have the devotionals played with/ without the background music? I do find the music quite distracting whilst praying. I appreciate that others might like the music - an option to choose would be lovely.

Brilliant

I love this app and am very moved by much of the content. Just one small “bug” on iPhone - when you get to the bottom row of days on the calendar, you can’t see the pop up boxes that take you to the devotionals without scrolling down. Not a major problem once you’ve figured it out. Thank you for making a wonderful resource for Christians.

Really helps with Prayer

I am so thankful that I was recommended this app by our Pastor. I can either read the plan or listen to it. I’m not normally one for writing reviews but since using this app I’ve been prioritising my prayer time with God. It’s easy to use and the content is relevant and biblical! Such a blessing

This is a brilliant way to connect with God each day. I set the reminder in the app so it is the first thing I do in my phone each morning. The lent series has been brilliant in drawing me to greater dependence on God and so timely with the threat of COVID19 around us. My only request would be an option to increase e text size when I read it as it is a bit small!

Beautiful Christian prayer tool

Thank you so much for developing this app. I was introduced to it recently by a friend and have found it to be helpful, relevant and Spirit filled. Especially at this time of crisis in our world, it helps to focus my mind at the beginning of my Special Time with the Lord. The only thing I would ask, is that you find a way for the background music to be turned off. While it may be helpful to many people, for those with a hearing impairment it can distract from the spoken word. May God continue to bless people through your work.

Just what I needed

This app has revitalised my prayer life and helped me to start my day focused on God. I love that I can listen to the audio while barely awake, and then read through to focus in on what the Spirit is bringing my attention to. Brilliant for guided and extemporary prayer

Have been using this since day one and am genuinely loving it. I’ve recommended it to all the students in our church! It’s been such a useful tool in focusing more clearly my time with God each day and so if you’re struggling to do that, give it a go!

One Technical Issue:

App crashes after unlocking the phone when screen goes to sleep (iPhone X). Probably a quick fix but thought it’d be useful to know.

A thing of beauty, perfectly proportioned

Have looked forward to this every day of Advent and thankful that it’s for life, not just for Christmas!

I particularly like the fact that it can be done in 8 minutes for those times when there is very little time, but it can also be the basis for a lengthy time spent in God’s presence as you pause and pray in each section.

Very well done to all those involved in its inception and presentation. Thank you.

Good apart from an audio issue

Enjoyable, good quality. Recommend it to family and friends but now struggling with the audio version. It plays but no sound comes out. Both on phone and iPad - really frustrating as someone with dyslexia it made a big difference it been read to me. Gave me time to concentrate on what was been said.

Excellent but just needs a tweak

Great app and love that it extends beyond advent to the whole year- but having the same problem as other reviewer with voice cutting out when screen blanks. Have changed auto lock to longer period but this isn’t helping. Hope a fix or advice can be given as the constant stop start isn’t conducive to staying focussed on God in prayer.
