Love this gym
The classes make this gym for me! I’ve been a member of other gyms in the past but this one is my favourite by far! I’d like to give a particular thanks to Julie Clough, she is a really engaging and amazing instructor , very knowledgeable and experienced, and also so welcoming and engaging and friendly, totally puts you at ease whilst also motivating you to give it your all. All the other instructors are also amazing but Julie is my personal favourite

This is worse and Not an improvement!
This is a backwards step! There was nothing wrong with the previous app. I have given feedback to my local gym several times since the update with the response that the local team would report back to “management “.
In summary:
1. Rowing machines do not connect to app but try to connect to Technogym’s Wellness app. But that in turn does not work.
However the Techngym SkillRow app still works and does upload the rowing results to Village Gym app - sometimes!
2. The time to scan individual equipment is unacceptably slow and when it does, frequently fails!
3. Frequently the QR code on equipment simply does not work and open up the details.
Because of these issues it takes much longer than with the old app to complete my routine.
In short you have wasted your time and money with no improvement from a user point of view!

This app is not working. I have tried for days to login into my account. It says “Invalid email or password”, but I use exactly same details on the web and it works fine. Password reset feature doesn’t work either.

Full of bugs
The old app was much more user friendly. I also book classes, they go into my calendar and within a few days, they disappear from my calendar!! I’ve tried to report it and was told I’d get an email but nothing.

Disappeared from calendar
Classes weren’t showing in my calendar despite settings all being correct. I’ve removed, re downloaded, logged out/in for both this app and my calendar app. It resolved when I had to literally delete my account from my iPhone and restart and all was fine for a few days. But now the classes have once again disappeared. What is going on.

Could be dangerous
If you are new to the gym, please be careful with this app. After a period of not going to the gym, I decided to do a beginner program on the app. A leg press of 120kg is not beginner! There are many other exercises that appear that could cause serious injury. I have asked the developer to get in touch but that has been ignored.

To dark
Why switch the app's style to dark mode when the previous brighter version was much easier to read? Additionally, the filter that allows you to select class types no longer saves your selection, whereas it did function properly in the previous version of the app!.

App update not good
I’m struggling with this new app. Feels like it wasn’t user tested. Main issues: legibility (white on black is bad for me), confusing layout, awful scroll with dates and days for classes moving separately which is super confusing, can’t see my waitlisted classes, filter doesn’t save. Also a gripe from this version and last version. I shouldn’t have to grant you full access to my diary to add a class. That’s a ridiculous amount of data that I’m not sharing. Pls
Make it work with me granting access to add events only.

Can’t get logged in, def and app issue
Awful, can’t get logged in on app (but can on computer).
Password reset doesn’t work and send you to an Italian password reset page.

Rubbish
Old app was a lot easier to navigate and sign into. Can’t sign in and have reset password numerous. Nightmare at the moment. Plus it’s now in French I give up it’s a load of rubbish. They changed the old app to this and now I can’t access any classes at all. I’d give it no stars if I could.

Poor design on app update
Classic case of a visual overhaul but a backwards step in terms of usability and utility in the app.
Booking classes it hit and miss, keep getting an error in Spanish about not being part of a facility.
Can’t see as many classes on one screen
Can’t see how many on the waitlist easily from list screen
Hard to scan down the list and see which classes you’re booked on
Doesn’t show the basic details like numbers booked / wait list size and room names up front - have to click on each class in turn.
Big row wasting space at the top for changing gym location but really how often is that required? A very set of ppl use multiple clubs I’m sure.
Images for classses are square but show up as portrait size in new design so the edges are cropped off - look daft and can’t read what’s on them.

Password Reset
There seems to be an issue with password resets and logging into the app itself. 1. Request a password reset wont send an email link to reset 2. It takes you to a technogym password reset page if it does 3. Once the password is manually changed on the backend, the app doesn’t communicate this change, even though I can log in via the online portal. Perhaps some review of the coding around the password reset function, this is specifically for the Basingstoke branch, not sure if that makes a difference. Lots of people with this issue

Terrible app
Since the redesign this app has become incredibly confusing and overly complicated. The UX is shockingly poor for such a large company who really should know better.
The design tries to do too much and the developers and designers have forgotten how important accessibility in digital products is.
Unintuitive and overly complicated, this app has worsened my Village Gym experience. Considering I use it every time I visit, I now leave feeling annoyed and frustrated.

Awful update
Latest update is awful. The look and feel of the app is terrible. The colour scheme is blinding. I’ve had to delete and reinstall the app 3 times since the update due to a grey screen of nothing as the app try’s to boot.
Revert it back to the old version!!!

Backwards step
Functionality we had in the previous version now gone. I used to be able to save my favourite classes in a group to have less to scroll through. Now the filters won’t save so I have to keep doing them. Waitlist used to show how many people on it so you had an idea as to whether it was worth booking on or not, now you can’t see that. More clicks to get to things not less. Awful upgrade, old version was much better for class booking.

Backwards in design and things don’t work
I understand the new look app is more on brand but it’s gone backwards in usability.
In the design world , white wording on black backgrounds is supposed to be avoided as it’s the most difficult to read, yet the whole app is now like this PLUS with buttons and images. It makes it really hard to read and navigate.
Secondly, whereas before a lot of navigation was simplified, there’s now an abundance of icons that don’t fit the screen so they float and spin across your viewing panel. It makes it really confusing
Thirdly, the option to join waiting lists is broken. It just says contact Facility which a) itself is a button that doesn’t work and b) no one is contacting the facility as they never answer the phone

Not user friendly at all. Previous version allowed members to see membership type and expiry date - not any more !
Also login problems - I log in and my wife gets my details on her app despite using different email addresses - she logs in and it kicks me out on different devices ! Ready poor, not fit for purpose - for crying out loud bin it and revert to the previous version.

I often have to reconnect the link to my Fitbit which is annoying, but since this latest update it no longer lets me book classes as says it doesn’t recognise me as a member of the gym

Good gym, great swimming pool
Gods gym but equipment seems to be a bit rickety and olds in the main gym. Great swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Very decent facilities.

App keeps losing connection to Fitbit
Like the app and find it useful to track exercise but it keeps losing connection with my Fitbit so not all exercise syncs in the app. Have to keep reinstating the connection to my Fitbit but any data is lost and does not sync - shame.

Absolutely love vivienne aqua classes on mon and a wed I never miss them classes are fantastic she speaks class through so well and works us hard been going for two years now . Its a fantastic workout I would never be able to excersize like this outside the pool i love it so much . Every wed we have a coffee morning and we were told this would never stop and it has been changed to only two a month now i dont understand why they stop something that is so successful and great for people mental health met loads friends going to coffee morning great way sitting in company hopefully it change to every wed again . As it is something i look forward to so much every week thanks mrs L Prentice

Air conditioning in the boxer room isn’t strong enough, far too hot in a small room. Also is there a possibility that the time could be reduced for when you need to cancel, 6 hours is far too long if plans change at the last minute. I would have thought 2 hours was plenty personally.

App doesn’t recognise correct email address, can sign in to the website no problem. App sign in has bugs. Try to sign several times, deleted and reinstalled app with same outcome.

Clicking on that link takes me to a page to “sign up for latest offers”

Gym Sessions Don’t Keep Data and is buggy
The gym app is good idea but it doesn’t work well because it doesn’t keep the weights you used from your previous workout so you have to always remember. Also there is the ability to record the time from rests between sets but no actual timer. If you use another app for the timer, the exercise you were doing gets logged out and you have to start again.
I am using IPhone 13 so it’s not like it’s my phone.

Filter Name
I love the app, but I am not able to save a filter. It always comes up with name already used or invalid. I tried every outlandish name and every normal…. I know it is a minor challenge, but I would love to save a filter to make it easier to see only the classes I like.

Great facilities but maintenance is falling behind
Recently rejoined after a 3 year break. Facilities in gym, classes and pool are great. Changing rooms are little small and therefore congested for the number of members. Biggest disappointment is it’s falling behind on maintenance and cleaning levels. Specifically in gents; broken toilet seat, missing hooks, foul / smelly water, liquid soap dispensers empty. It’s a shame given these issues are easily fixable with simple maintenance checks and suitable levels and attention to cleaning standards.

Great space
The Village Inn serves a real need in the central
and west side of Edinburgh. It has a large free car park and the building is modern by design and serves as a really good meeting area with its own restaurant and separate Starbucks coffee space. The staff are friendly and very keen to assist with regular check-ins and support.
I have only been a member for a month but in that time I have participated in a number of varied classes. I now know the ones that fit my level of fitness and goals. The gym is large and is newly refurbished with a lot of new equipment and the flow and layout has been improved. It has a good Spa area with everything you need before or after a workout such as sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool. Overall I am pleased with my investment and hopefully I will achieve my fitness goal and it will provide a space to relax and have some fun.

I had a 2 year membership at David Lloyd gym but the village beats it hands down
My progress and body transformation is impressive the motivation and atmosphere of the village gym club along with the PT’s keeping a discreet eye on your training progress with the odd comment on how they can see the changes in your body appearance is a confidence boost
I walk out the gym every time feeling great and looking forward to my next session wether it be a class or a weights session
To have a PT that does boxing is a dream and a great workout

A Great Find
The Village Gym Bournemouth is a very friendly club with a terrific selection of different classes, from Yoga and Pilates to body pump and body balance and plain old aerobics. I am enjoying the classes so much I haven’t made it to the gym yet. The pool is a good size and there are numerous shower cubicles. Alas the steam room is out of action which I am told is a regular occurrence, but the sauna and hot tub are operational. The one fly in the ointment is the lack of parking, the car park is permanently full ! A vehicle recognition system is being implemented which hopefully will resolve the problem. I would thoroughly recommend this leisure centre.

Fantastic gym
The new village gym at Bracknell is amazing. The equipment is top of the range and there is a wide variety of classes. I particularly enjoy Aqua with Joe on a Tuesday morning. All the staff are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Great start keep it up!

Friendly staff clean and organised
The staff are great really friendly and helpful. Greatly impressed the cleaners are in wet and dry mopping the floors and using the spray machine before each class ! I love the lighting and the music for each class I love how easy the app is to navigate and use 😁

Keeps Failing
Can’t see anywhere how to book anything just says Join Us on Facebook. Has this App ever been tested? Is it possible to stop the App from removing the option to make a booking. Very annoying 🤬
Please make your mind up if I can book anything through this App - the option keeps disappearing for me and my partner.
And yet again, another App that won’t run correctly on iPad - it won’t rotate screen to Landscape mode.

Impossible to login
Without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had with an App and I haven’t even been able to use it. It rejects my password even after I have followed the link and reset it. Every time I have tried to fix this the app locks me out for an hour.
I am quite tech savvy so how are the older members supposed to be able to access this if I cannot?
Don’t tell me to view your FAQ. Look at how many people are complaining about this issue - that should tell you that you need to fix your app.

Awful, won’t let me log in despite having changed my password numerous times and it still tells me my account is invalid or incorrect - I only use 1 email. I’ve been a member for over 4 years and booked numerous classes and swimming lanes, as well as using the gym at least 4 times a week. This app is promoted as the best thing the Village has come out with but how good can it be for a faithful member for over 4 years and a very regular gym goer but it always tells you your account is invalid? Can always log in fine via the website but the app just does not want to know. Would love to be able to use the app to promote the Village and book my usual slots but no hope.

Infuriating!
This has to be one of the most confusing apps ever. My whole family use it and agree that it’s hard to find the on demand classes and nothing seems to be organised logically within it. When you are using the app it tells you to get the app (why when you’re in it?). The members area is within the app so it’s very confusing to try to find classes. I tried in vain to find the on demand class, that I’ve used everyday but because I navigated away from it I couldn’t find it again.

Confusing
All I wanted to do was book my gym slots on my phone and I’ve spent 50 minutes trying to log in and set up a wellness account (which required my weight and height??) and it still won’t let me log in. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and this was unnecessarily confusing. Just make it the same log in as the website! If you’re just planning on using it to book slots rather than activity tracking etc I would just give it a miss and keep booking on the website tbh.

Can’t cancel booked classes
This app has cause me so many headaches as I get an error when cancelling bookings I’ve made. Now I’ve received an email telling my booking privileges have been revoked for 14 days. Utter nonsense - plus it’s impossible thanks ring through to my club as no one ever bloody answers the phone. What am I staying loyal and paying membership for?! Village you’re supposed to be improving my health and well-being - not doing my head in !!!

Doesn’t recognise user or allow reset
The app gives a message incorrect email or password when using the details I have for the desktop app. I’ve read the Info that you need a separate password for the app - which is a rubbish experience, we’re all used to jumping from desktop to app seamlessly.
When I ask for a password reset in the app I don’t get an email to reset the app password??
Back to using the desktop.
I also have another password for my village hotel login. A single converged experience is needed please.

UPDATE/WARNING: Cancelled gym membership within 10 day cooling off period as new members cannot book classes via app. No update from company for when this will be fixed. Also ignore support generic response you get on here, they don’t have a clue :)
Really need to review what they are doing. Such a pain to even register. Can’t book classes and local gym staff just don’t have a clue what is going on. Had to request my email to be updated at least 3 times as they kept spelling it wrong.

Good app
Like that I can see how busy my club, and it’s easier to book classes. However I don’t understand the booking process and if it’s an app issue - some classes I can join the wait list, others I can’t.

Updated after I got a response - if you use your mywellness details you can log in, it’s just unfortunately a little misleading but the app is actually quite good once you get into it!

Useless app. Doesn’t recognise details. Tried to reset, but no email and had to move to the web for bookings. This is frustrating. Come on Village Gyms you’ve had months to get this right.
Way to confusing as the link to email and new password set up doesn’t work.
Finally logged in and reset from the web, a week after club reopened but this isn’t easy either. Time to write to members with instructions on the apps reset instructions, especially as classes have to be booked because of Covid-19. Reception staff at the gym had no clue how to help....

Easy to see and book
Although the app works really well, clear and concise, my only issue is the calendar is very unclear. The numbers in white are not clear perhaps black would work better

New app
Easy to use. It was the same log in as mywellness so ensured all my stats were still there. Class bookings easy to do and great usage checker so I don’t have a wasted trip and can’t get in because the club are managing COVID-19. Well done.

HOW TO LOG IN PLEASE READ
To log into the app you have to use your Mywellness account details and NOT your Village gym details that you use on the web browser. You if you not have a Mywellness account you need to make one before you can use this app.

Use Wellbeing login details
Ok, so after a little research and reading the small print on their website I’ve discovered it your Wellbeing login details used on the digital Technogym equipment that you must use to login. Very poor (virtually no) information communicated on this critical change making the end user experience poor, when it doesn’t need to be. Seems to be a solid 4/5 star app with plenty of useful functionality once you can get in.

Great App
To be able to see the club capacity is great. Really good! I see a few comments of not been able to login, if you have a problem contact your Gum, I did...and it was me trying to put in the wrong password, it isn’t the same as your online account.

Great app! It is easy to book classes and see availability in the gym. The team at Nottingham have been extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend the app!

Love the new app
So easy to use and love the fact you can see the capacity of the club before you decide to go also classes are very easy to book and it has saved all my data before lockdown which I was happy about :)

Easy to use and really helpful
Now that the gym has re-opened this is a very efficient way to book classes- much better than using the website. It also shows you the capacity of the club so you can choose quieter times to go in the gym or book a slot for swimming.
It also stored my previous body measurements from the old My Wellness app so everything is in one place.
Well done Village Gym. 👍🏻

Download Mywellness app first!!!
I struggled to be recognised/log on, have my email accepted. After speaking to my gym you need to download their previous app version first (Mywellness) and then merge the data when it asks you to. After that you can download this Village Gym app and it knows who you are!! (then delete Mywellness app as you don’t need both on your phone)

Nice to have all the info in one place
The app is great , it allows me to check how busy my club is before I go, has all the booking information I need and is easy to organise my weekly visits to the gym and pool. As an added bonus it also allows me to store my fitness program and make it easier to set up the machines , great work Village 👍

Love the new app, so user friendly. Logs you straight in every time once account is set up. Club occupancy level is great to help decide if I want to come to gym or not.

Great app once you get logged in!
Once I was told by my club that my web account is different to the app account and that I should ask my trainer to send me the invitation e-mail, it was sorted immediately. Great app!

Useful but it would be great if there was a ‘my bookings/my classes’ area like on the website which allows me to see all my booked classes.
