Had a 20 minute wait for my bus during which I just about got through the screens required to buy a ticket but the final screen was still egg timing when the bus arrived so I gave up. As it turned out, with the current fare cap of £2 per journey it was cheaper to get two singles than the day return I’d been trying to buy. App deleted. Result

The app is ok but I have tried to use it today and it won’t let me check times for my journey tomorrow or plan my journey. I will have to go onto google to plan my journey after having spent time on the app trying to do it which is supposed to make it easier and quicker but in fact costs time and adds extra stress.

As a student, using an app to get in a bus is very helpful. Tickets seem to work fine for me, however the issue lies under timetabling. When clicking on a bus stop, 50% of the time the times of when a bus will arrive never load - even with perfect 4G and everything else loading. As someone who has to leave my house at 7:15 to get a bus that is supposed to leave at 7:45 - I don’t really want to be standing outside for 30 minutes after that time clueless if a bus will ever turn up. Furthermore, I work at my school until 5:30 - and not once in the past month has the timetable ever loaded. There are times where I’ve had to stand outside clueless, sometimes even waiting an hour in -5 degree weather because the buses are extremely delayed - but I don’t know any time one could show up - I could have spent this time inside my school as the bus stop is right outside. Would be extremely helpful if seeing where a bus is actually worked all the time.

I have never known a company to be so unbelievably unreliable and broken. Half the time the app wont even load when the busses so you cant even know when they’re coming, the app wont let you buy a ticket because it wont work, and the busses decide they’re not coming 70% of the time

This app is like a tumour on the face of my homescreen, none of the information it offers is helpful, none of the information is correct, nothing is accurate, 80% of the time it wont show you where your bus (or any bus in the UK is for that matter), doesn't load bus stops, doesn't load times, doesn't load tickets, doesn't load passes, doesn't load routes, offers "updates" and "alerts" that happened 2 weeks prior to when it shows up on the app, none of the times are accurate, your bus is ALWAYS either 10 minutes early or an hour late, once had to wait 3.5 hours to see a bus that was scheduled in 4 minutes. The previous app had issues but it was so simple and easy to use and you could forgive some bugs and glitches, but this app is confusing, unresponsive, unhelpful, unreliable, and a COMPLETE waste of your time.

I purchased a ticket and selected “mobile ticket”, assuming that it will be added to Apple Wallet. But no, it then told me to install this app, and she I clicked “activate” on the ticket, it started counting down “ticket valid for 2 more hours”. What a joke.

It doesn’t show when busses have been cancelled, it says your bus has gone past when it hasn’t or shows it’s on its way when it’s already gone past and that’s if it even loads the busses. You would think with the amount of money they’ve increased their tickets to they would be able to develop a proper functioning app but they are to cheap to do that hence why their drivers had to go on strike last year.

Before the developer says ‘make sure you have the most up to date version’ I can confirm I have.
Despite this the app is an absolute nightmare to deal with, between live timetables not loading, the MTicket not loading and various ‘authentication errors’ I’ve lost so much money in bus tickets and passes as I can’t use them consistently. Arriv need to invest in better software urgently.
I will also say although not relevant to this app that customer services are equally difficult to deal with when it comes to the inability to use m tickets, between ignoring my feedback or complaint/request for a refund and generally their website not l being user friendly, if I had a choice I’d avoid arriva all together until they invested more in their tech.

The App is a joke. I use to by tickets on their previous all which which still has glitches but after using this new app for the first time in a couple of years is nothing but is misery to use.
There’s constant glitches where half the functions won’t won’t. It won’t let me go on the account tab, it won’t let me access favourite journeys and it won’t let me buy 4-weekly tickets - a service that they don’t sell on the bus in person. And there’s constant alerts that cover the screen which should be displayed in a different way which isn’t irrelevant to the buses you’re looking at.
This App needs a major update and it’s not even usable outside of looking for Bus Times with patience.

Never ever gives accurate times. Buses I get are always 10-20 mins delayed or they take them out of service(no reason) call centre staff don’t even have a clue they just pass a complaint to depo who do nothing. The app doesn’t show any of this information about delays or cancelled service so unable to arrange alternative transport in time to be where I need to be so late for school runs, late for work etc. This app is only useful if you want a ticket but do not bother with it for checking times of services just google it instead as at least google gets the time right. I’m not sure if bus drivers are turning the trackers off or what but you can barely see any buses on the maps compared to times in past. Arriva as a whole is a complete failure. Only bus that runs regularly is the 308

Every time there is an update for this app I always wish yes maybe this time they’ve got it! The app is slow, doesn’t show buses most of the time, whenever I go to put locations in for travel it resets or jumps back to the last page or says ‘error’! I have to try over 10 times to get a bus timetables or travel plan I NEED! I will never trust buying my ticket on this app I will always get paper is the problems issued by other people where the ticket isn’t working on app. Also your busses are always late or early and when they are early they leave early, leave on departure time that’s what you’re meant to do! Terrible app. Consistently has issues with ‘Authentication Error’ which means I am unable to check the departure times of busses and also leaves you unable to use your M-Ticket as you can’t load it, therefore you have to pay for the journey even though you have a fully valid ticket. Why haven’t they allowed you to transfer your ticket to the Apple wallet (like Trainline) which would not make it so stressful everytime I have to travel for work. Something needs sorting as it’s ridiculous (and before I get asked, yes I’ve hard reset my phone, I have 5g connectivity which is reliable, I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times to find out you lose your ticket doing that, so I don’t do that anymore, well at least not with a valid ticket and the app is up to date as you updated it this month) you’ve got to do better than this.

App is either slow or does not work at all due to ‘authentication’ errors and issues with scanning my term ticket that I purchased for £400 -which has been hardly used due to constant issues with the ticket. From scanning as invalid to not appearing at all has lead me to paying for multiple additional tickets or getting taxis due to being refused on the bus as drivers are familiar with me and this issue and so due to its frequent nature have pretty much given up giving me the benefit of the doubt as once the issue gets ‘fixed’ it happens again a week later and so on. After speaking with customer service I was advised that all they could do was cancel my ticket, give me a pro-rata refund for the time i had left on it and then advised to purchase paper tickets instead which was quite frankly an insult to the experience i have had with my time using the app especially for the stress and the excess cost incurred because of it, I would have expected a little more from one of the biggest european bus carriers. I will never buy another ticket on the app and my experience has put me off using arriva buses all together.

As a child with the only way to get to school using a bus you would hope that i could have a reliable ticket for everyday use, you would hope if you bought a one year ticket you could use it for one year, right? But no. This app simply displays wrong bus times and the ticket that you spend hundreds of pounds on will just stop working after so long, in fact the app entirely just stops working after so long. For me i bought a ticket that could get me to school for the whole school year, turns out the last term of school i was forced to find ways such as riding a bike for just under 1 hour just to get there. This app needs to be fixed as the app stopped displaying my ticket and bus drivers wouldnt let me on as i had no proof of a ticket. So thats why you shouldnt trust this app.

The search function doesn’t pick up on points of interest, nor on roads that aren’t already part of a route. So how can users work out which is the best route to take to their destination. The route map is helpful, but doesn’t flag the actual stops, and the route itinerary only lists selected stops, making it unnecessarily hard to work out which stop you are aiming for, to help work out what time being s you want. And then, to cap it all, the timetable isn’t served as an easy to read html, viewed within the app, but as a pdf file which is supposedly downloadable. Why? Plus, clicking on the download link on my phone either does nothing or squirrels the pdf away somewhere where I can’t find it. The contrast to the apps provided by any train or coach operator is painful. And yes, I am using the latest version of the app! This app is so bad it is offensive. It smacks of a company treating bus users as third class citizens not worthy of anything better, rather than as paying customers they want to entice onto their service. Bus users, and the staff who work for Arriva doing their best to provide a good service to their customers, deserve way better than this.

This app is so shocking it’s unreal you buy your ticket and activate it then when the bus comes and you go to scan your ticket it won’t load your ticket up. And if your lucky enough to get your ticket loaded up and it’s a return you use your ticket to get where you want to go and then when you want to come back you can’t get your Rey ticket to pop up it just keeps the ticket you used to get where your going with no obvious way to end that one and load up your return it’s pathetic I’ve even brought my ticket and not been able to get it to load on my brought tickets i have shown it to the driver and the email receipt that I got from that purchase on that day and then still had to pay again to get on the bus. I would if just waited for another bus but I had to get to work Arriva really need to look at this app and redevelop it!!

This app is honestly so rubbish. I regularly buy a 4 weekly ticket, at a cost of over £70. Almost every week the app doesn’t load my ticket and many times drivers have not let me on as it’s showing as no ticket. I get anxiety even opening the app as you never know if the ticket will show or not. I always carry change just in case it doesn’t work. Arriva encourages you to get the app (can’t buy a monthly paper ticket), but yet it constantly crashes! The old app was 100 times better. I don’t understand why Arriva haven’t sorted out this issue yet when they clearly know about it. The amount we are charged for the bus service, we expect to be able to at least access the ticket!

Where to start. Arriva used to offer a perfectly functional app that had some issues, but let you book tickets and track your buses without any problems. It was simple but it worked.
Then 2 or so years ago they decided to update their app, and came out with this abomination. The app is incredibly unreliable, with "authentication error" occurring an unbelievable amount and nothing in the app loading. There used to be a button for refreshing the bus times at the bottom right but this isn't apparent in this version, which means that even though the server updates, you don't get the latest updates as it works on a fetch basis, presumably to reduce network traffic on their appalling servers.
I would never risk trying to purchase tickets via this app and would highly recommend everyone to stick with cash or contactless. This app barely works, so why would you trust your cash on it?
Arriva, please hire more competent developers (and increase the allocated budget) to fix this broken app. 1.4 stars don't lie. And please offer an API so other developers can offer real time bus times on the map so people can choose to use alternative apps.

There is honestly no point in downloading this app, everything about it is shockingly inaccurate. After downloading this app for getting to and from college over 2 years ago, I quickly realised how pointless is was when I constantly found myself either missing buses or having to wait 20 minutes longer than expected and therefore being late. The life departure times are far from accurate, and even completely differ to the PDF documents of the bus times found on the app. Arriva have had more than enough time to resolve the issues with the app so I can safely say I will not be using it anymore😂 please save yourself the time and stress and just go directly to the bus stop 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I rarely give negative reviews but this app is just unacceptable. How are you supposed to use an app for a public service that just doesn’t work? Can’t even search for any journeys or bus times, it worked a second ago but now it just comes up with “authentication error” and won’t load any bus times, won’t let me buy tickets, won’t let me use anything.
This needs to be sorted. Having an app that’s tricky to use is one thing, but having an app that is completely unusable is just useless and has cost people money it seems. I’m supposed to be starting a new job which I really need this app for, but I’m in despair as this app just doesn’t work.
Please listen to the reviews you have been getting Arriva and ACTUALLY do something about it!

The app speaks for itself. Terrible. I’m regards to the actual company, they are the worst transport company I have ever had the displeasure of using. The app states a bus is arriving at a certain time. It even tells you a live update of how far away it is, but it’s just false. I stand there waiting for ages for a bus that was supposed to be minutes away, but it never arrives. I then have to just wait for the next one. Buses are scarce where I live. It’s disgraceful that their app/website publishes one thing, but does another. I am writing this as I wait in the cold for a rude driver (they’re almost usually unpleasant and rarely say a word) driving a dirty bus that should’ve arrived 30 minutes ago. Avoid at all costs.

The updates/notifications at the top of the screen are literally never ever relevant to me, they’re miles away. But they cover up the back button so I have to restart the app to go back.
There’s no button that I can see to bring the map back to my location when I’m looking around.
The bus stops don’t stand out at all when tracking a particular bus. It’s hard to find where you’re going when in an unfamiliar area, especially when the streets are twisty and windy. Make them a different colour or interactive arriva. Stagecoach does this beautifully.
When you’re not tracking a bus, the bus stops do stand out but they disappear and move about the page. Anchor them to one place PLEASE! Again stagecoach’s app is running rings around Arrivas.
When you click a bus stop to see upcoming buses, it tells you when the next one is coming in hours and minutes. Telling me a bus comes in 3 hours and 23 minutes isn’t much good arriva. What time is it coming at so I can leave and come back without having to do mental maths.
I’ve downloaded this app to get to the gym, can’t figure out how to work it, its so user unfriendly and it’s bothered me so much I’m getting an Uber. There’s probably a million other issues I haven’t even seen yet. Get real people to test your apps before releasing them arriva. Unless you’re making it difficult on purpose in which case you’ve definitely won. My moneys just went into Ubers pocket though not yours.

When it actually works the app is great, however it’s very touch and go as to whether it works or not. There’s been times when I’ve had full signal and been on WiFi and still can’t access my ticket, see the buses on the map or even purchase a ticket. When you’re commuting to work it’s the last thing you need, not only that but there’s no back up or downloadable pass to your phone or iwallet so when the app fails, you’re pretty stuck. Some drivers don’t accept the app not working either and there’s been days when I’ve had to pay for a fair on top of the monthly pass that I already buy, just as a result of the app not working. This morning for example, I even checked to see if the app was due an update but it wasn’t. Even the most up to date versions fail. It’s really poor.

Since mid-August of this year I’ve had nothing but problems with this app. Every time I board the bus and scan my ticket on their QR scanner my phone completely freezes. I’m unable to do anything on the phone and have to shut reset/reboot my device.
Another thing that is really annoying with this app is now and again the app will kick me off and I have to log back in again, and once back on I cannot use my ticket as apparently it’s on another device. This has happened to me nine times and today I had to phone customer services to get my ticket reactivated on my phone - but tonight is the last straw as I’ve been kicked off the app, and yep the ticket is on another device.
Whatever is going on with this app can Arriva just get this sorted as soon as possible.

I honestly don’t know why they released this. The time tables are useless as they don’t give you real time info. The GPS is so bad that by the time the bus actually shows as being at a stop, it’s usually 100m or more down the road. If you click on different stops it doesn’t change the timetable display half the time, so you’re stuck with viewing buses and times for a completely different stop. I genuinely have no idea how they decided this thing was good to go. Actually, I do, because the only thing it seems to be reliably capable of is taking money from you for tickets! Which is all they care about. Seriously, pay on the bus with your card and use google for the times. Both are way more effective than this rubbish.
Edit: now even the ticket purchasing is poor. Takes ages to load and then just times out. I’ve even been told a purchase hasn’t worked, had to do it again, and then been charged for both. The whole thing is crap. They know it’s crap and they don’t care. I’m never using this again.

Since you’ve updated to the new app it’s been horrendous. The live map is way off showing where a bus actually is and half the time it never actually shows any buses. The main screen showing the route is covered by the drop down bar asking to choose a location however you can’t choose and click a stop from the map if your lost so if you don’t know to location you have to go back to the live map and find your location. The actual choose journey screen does not load half the time when entering a location and is a white screen. Honestly I would give a half a star if that because even that’s being kind to this new upgraded app, the old app was much much better in terms of accessibility and use.

Install the App and pay for a weekly ticket, the ticket shows up on the app so I activate, all ok so far. I then go to use the ticket, the app crashes and no ticket displays and I’m not allowed on the bus without paying again for another ticket. As the app has crashed I do what anyone else would do and delete, reinstall and log back in. The App is now working again but my pass is not and is no longer valid as it’s apparently being used on another device. I complain and am still waiting for a response which could take up to 10 days during which time I’m just expected to pay again for a service which is about as reliable as the App!! Absolutely shocking, you should be ashamed scamming your customers like this, your App has been a joke for years!!

This is the worst app I have ever had the misfortune to use. In theory the ideas are good, but in reality it doesn’t work probably 60-70% of the time. Constant ‘server errors’ when searching for live buses, looking on the live map, and even when trying to activate tickets. I’m currently sat on a bus with no live ticket after purchasing one and the app not letting me activate it- all it says is ‘server error, please try later’. I’ve been getting this message for over an hour despite rebooting the app and even switching my phone off and on. Fortunately a lovely bus driver let me on regardless.
The whole app adds unnecessary stress to my commute. The theory is excellent but the execution and reliability needs work. And yes, I have the latest version.

What a disaster. I stopped buying tickets using the app as it is absolutely and utterly useless. I use it only to plan my trips, and even for that this app is just horrible. Major lagging, often doesn’t even show you when the buses are due because it takes ages to load (and I mean minutes so before you know what time a bus is coming it shows you outdated times). You are better off using google maps as they seem to have it figured out better than Arriva - although they do not show you if the bus is late or a no show (again this is also often the case with these buses). However, even this app tends to show you times for buses which do not even show up.
Just a cr*p company that produced a cr*p app, and I do hope a different bus company takes over the north east and outcompetes Arriva.

So I haven’t had to use the Arriva app(s) since Covid started. I had the 2 apps under the old system to plan routes and times and to buy tickets for my son, which I could send to his phone. Imagine my disappointment when I came to use Arriva again for my middle child who starts secondary school next week. Both old apps now extinct, needed to download one new integrated app. You’d think that would be great and on the whole, once you get used to navigating it, it is. With one big let down. You can no longer gift tickets. So as far as I can gather, if I want to buy my son a 4 week ticket to use digitally on his phone, I am going to have to install the app on his phone (which I would have had to do anyway) but then here’s the biggie, I’m going to need to set up my bank card on his app in order to purchase his tickets directly on his phone. How anyone thinks it is a good idea to allow a child access to one’s bank card details on their own phone is beyond me. Come on Arriva, get this one sorted pronto please by putting the old system back in place.

Takes ages to load, bus times are listed as wait times rather than an actual clock time, if you look at the timetable for future bus times it will show you to a certain time (ie. 15 hours from now) and then jump to several hours after that (ie. 30 hours later) even if you know for a fact that there are buses running within that 15-30 hour time. The app lags horrendously if you’re not connected to wifi rendering it useless if you’ve bought a ticket via the app and are boarding the train in an area with poor signal, a lot of the time it doesn’t even load to allow you to buy a ticket unless you’re connected to wifi which means often if I need a ticket on my phone I have to preemptively buy one the night before to save fiddling around with it when I’m on my way to the bus stop. Truly a horrendous horrendous app and I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t developed by an actual qualified app developer. The previous app was much better please go back to that !!!!

This app used to be extremely useful for keeping track of bus times and planning days, but at some point in the last 2 years the app was updated and the interface changed. After this update, the app drastically decreased in quality, and is still yet to be fixed years later.
The bus times were changed from the actual time (eg. 11:45) to how long until the bus arrives at the stop (eg. 6 mins, or even more usefully for when you’re planning a trip later in the day, “2h 35m”). Needless to say this is incredibly inconvenient.
That isn’t even the worst part, as the best part of this app used to be the surprisingly accurate live bus map. I very rarely had a problem with the map back in the day, as every single bus had its exact location at that time marked on the map, which is a feature that saved me from missing a bus many a time! Unfortunately, this feature has been bugged/glitched since the aforementioned update. The map is now a mess of glitches, with buses popping in and out of existence depending on your angle or zoom (with the most buses on screen at one time usually below 5, whereas it used to show EVERY bus).
Extremely disappointed in the downfall of this service, as it was one of the few things that distracted me from the extortionate prices the bus company charge for short trips. It seems to be in correlation with the company’s decrease in quality as a whole, as Ive heard from drivers that they are incompetent at every level.

I can’t tell you how much I miss the old App. I used it almost daily and it really helped me get about. The live information stopped me missing buses or standing in the cold a number of times. This one is completely useless to me and if I’m honest I’ve come close to deleting I use it that little. It doesn’t work half the time and is much harder to use. Never seems to have the information I need or find the information I put in. Hate it passionately.
Review update! Still shockingly bad. The response was update your App. My App is updated. Response said contact developer. I was curious as to whom the developer was so clicked on it. I was taken to a blank page on the App. Which service do you require? It doesn’t matter what I put in here it does nothing. Live departures does nothing. Stops nearby, none found yet I can see one from my window. Need I go on. My fingers are crossed for anyone using this App may you find it more useful than I.

This app disagrees with itself on every click and yet none of it seems to match real life!
The journey planner shows the buses at one time, the map at another, then if you click on a bus on the map it shows a little time line of the stops and the bus symbol on that shows it in a completely different location to the map!
Also on the plan screen, it shows the travel time to include your walk to the stop which is good. But underneath that it has “bus departs at…” and the time shown there isn’t the bus departure time at all but the time you should start the walk. Clicking on the details there shows the actual bus departure time so this number is present but not in all the places it should be.
It’s a shame because I know that the technology to make this better does exist because the old app actually worked so much better than this! I also miss the little bubbles about the bus on the map that showed if it was early or late.
The only thing that this app does have that the old one didn’t is the tickets incorporated into it. This part has worked for me so far (other than the pads for scanning it triggering my Nandos card instead at first but I stopped that, hehe!)

I like this app as someone who regularly uses busses finds that paying for tickets online a lot more easier than explaining to the bus driver where I am going. Though it is convenient when it comes to paying for tickets there are still bugs. The app is as only useful for discounting prices on online tickets. Apart from that it’s not very good at anything else.
Firstly when i require the time at which the next bus is coming I doesn’t help when it says it’ll come in 6 mins but actually comes in 16. It just makes people waste there on time with miscalculations the app has made.
Secondly, the fact that there are times when I need to get somewhere and the app has logged me out. That’s not that big of a problem but the real problem is when I log back in ; it says the ticket I’m currently using was bought and used by another device. Now I’m not sure about everyone else but spending extra money on something I already bought annoys me.
Lastly, the online map which supposedly tells you the exact location of where each bus is amazing. Apart from the fact that it isn’t. The app takes too long to reconfigure so it just doesn’t load in some buses which is never helpful. So I’m waiting in a shop checking the app. And that bus that isn’t there has passed around.
But apart from that everything else with the bus works fine.😑😑😑

Have deleted and reinstalled app several times . It still does not work . Refuses to accept my credit card number . Have asked for assistance from ARRIVA . recently app won’t show the times of the buses on my street now it won’t let me purchase the only ticket i use the stafford and cannock one, when i try to where it should come up with adult, child etc just stays on loading forever and has been doing so for a week now, i’ve emailed the arriva team and they asked me to confirm that i’m using the newest version which i am and haven’t got back to me
not only that but 4 times now buses haven’t shown up where they’re supposed to and i have to show up late for work just so i don’t have to stand outside freezing and getting rained on for over an hour until the next one finally shows up
i can’t buy my weekly ticket therefore have to keep buying tickets for the days which is three days a week
the thing is it’s only my specific ticket that it won’t let me purchase and no other ticket i can use because it won’t cover where i need to go and it is also doing this on the website when i asked someone to see if it was broken for them too

So i’ve had this app for a while now and i don’t think it’s ever actually worked. It started off with my tickets disappearing (my £500+ yearly one) and then when it came back it would keep saying it was expired even though it wasn’t. Got that fixed and then the app decided to log me out. Whenever i tried to log in it said my password was incorrect and even after changing it three times it kept saying it was incorrect and refused to log me in. Now whenever i try to log in it says there been an issue and i should contact customer services, every time i call they tell me something along the lines of “make sure your app is updated and it’ll be fixed soon”. It’s been about 2 months now and every time i get on the bus i have to pray the bus driver will see my issue and just let me on, as i don’t want to have to keep paying for the bus when i’ve already paid over £500 for a ticket. Just bring the old app back, this one is confusing, broken and a waste of time.

Such a terrible, messy, useless app. The feature to track the buses which was the most useful on the old app is now impossible to use and not accurate half the time. Map doesnt refresh to show you the buses current location. When you move around the app the buses and stops jump around randomly. The app is a mess visually with banners at the top and bottom of the map that get in the way and you can’t remove. Alerts pop up that you can’t remove even when you’ve read them. Timetables arent on the app and just link to the full timetable on their website. Bus times are shown by minutes away and not the actual time which isnt helpful. I could go on. Please scrap this and bring the old app back into use. This is awful. With the old app it was so straight forwards, self explanatory, and easy. You just clicked where you wanted to be, journey planner, live map etc, you could flick backwards and forwards between the screens. With this, you don’t know where to click, once you go from map to find a journey, it just takes over the whole map, and no where to click off it. Have to come out and reload the whole app. I don’t know if there is a simpler way to do it, but why you would want to make things hard for people to use, I don’t know. To be honest, I’ve gave up on it. When I want to check a bus time now, it’s quicker to use google than fiddling about with this. You could at least put a live map back on as well. All you get on here now is a map showing you your route. No live map to see where the buses actually are. If it’s supposed to be, then it’s just something else that isn’t working. Also, on trip planner, the locations keep disappearing. Some days I can type in where I want to go, sometimes the location is already in the list, but other days the exact same location just won’t come up. Seriously, this app just causes extra stress to people at a time when things are already stressful enough? Why on earth get rid of the old app when it worked perfectly and there was nothing wrong with it, just to replace it with this useless thing?

I downloaded the app after I was told to buy a lady in customer services because I have an annual ticket. Initially, the app worked and everything was fine, then 2/3 weeks after my ticket stopped working, and I couldn’t even open it to scan the barcode because it had a message saying “active on another device” even though I didn’t have another device that it was active on.
I contacted customer services again and they said they are having some issues with the app and they are trying to fix it, but In the meantime I should just get in the bus and explain to the driver how I do have the pass but it is not working.
I really hope they solve this issue fast because it is really annoying and the drivers are getting fed up.

I have to agree with most of the recent comments showing people’s frustration regarding the arriva app, it’s worse now than it ever used to be. The whole idea of going contactless etc is so you can make use of the technology that they have in place on apps like this but when you buy a tkt and can’t use it it defeats the purpose! You lose out on money unnecessarily due to the error messages and not being able to use your tkt. Arriva are aware of the app being useless and they know that sometimes the barcode fails to work but when it is costing people more money it becomes an even bigger problem. I bought a tkt and it logged me out and unfortunately I can’t log back in because my password needs to be changed now and it won’t even allow that! Hopefully this is sorted soon and those who are out of pocket are refunded.

That old saying if it’s not broke don’t fix it certainly applies here. Forced to download this new app having had no major issues with the old one and have had nothing but problems ever since. As other users have stated I too purchased a weekly ticket for my daily commute to work and after two days the ticket disappeared. I was unable to purchase a new ticket or view my previous purchases. I was lucky enough That my local bus drivers allowed me on to the bus despite this but not everyone is so lucky. I opened the app this morning and Had been signed out, however when I signed back in the ticket reappeared but states it’s active on a different device and therefore I am going to have to purchase another one whilst I still have several days left in my current ticket. i bought a £180 student term ticket and my ticket has only worked about five times. the majority of the time, the ticket doesn’t show or when it does there’s an error which doesn’t show the barcode. my most recent experience is that my ticket completely disappeared so i refreshed the app, closed it and re opened it multiple times and even tried the website version and nothing worked. then i tried deleting the app and reinstalling to see if it would refresh and now it will not let me log back in. i’ve had this problem for five days now and i don’t know what to do. it’s so embarrassing having to explain to the driver that the app doesn’t work and i’ve even had to buy a ticket which is annoying when i already paid £180 for my term ticket - as a student this really isn’t convenient. this is the most incompetent and useless app i’ve ever experienced. i’m going to contact services as i need it to work to get to college but i doubt they will do anything. not that any of the producers will care but please just sort it out and fix it because it’s so unfair that it doesn’t work.

This app has actually caused me so much stress, the old app was so straightforward, I just don’t understand why they would change it!!
I have to explain to the bus driver on every single bus I get on that I have already paid for a ticket but I just can’t show them it because the app won’t load the barcode or just won’t load anything. I’m constantly in fear I won’t be able to get to or from work because the bus driver might not believe me and not let me on the bus. I have to wait till the last person in the que has got on the bus so I can speak to the driver at the moment there is a restriction on the amount of people that can get on a bus due to COVID-19.
It makes me so anxious when ever I travel. Unfortunately you don’t have a choice of you want a monthly travel ticket you need to have this app.

I paid £70 for a 4 week ticket and have only been able to use it for 2 weeks. The ticket was completely not showing up on the app, leading to me having to pay for taxis to work as it wouldn’t let me purchase another ticket. After uninstalling and re-downloading the app the ticket is now showing up but is saying it is activated on another device, which is not the case at all! I have made a complaint but it’s says it can take up to 10 working days to get a response.
I am so disappointed after having spent £70 on this ticket, I have probably paid over £100 for my travel so far this month because of this app! I was hoping I would be able to get a refund, but after reading other people’s reviews it’s looks like that might not happen.
I used to get First buses but changed to Arriva as the bus times were much more convenient for getting to work but the inconvenience of the app and the extra money I’ve had to spend isn’t worth it, I’m going to be using the First bus app again. Not giving any more money to arriva.

Was forced to download the new app last month and have had nothing but problems since. Tickets never display, barcodes don’t scan. Latest issue is my ticket wasn’t displaying. Closed and opened the app several times only for the ticket to display but shows an error and no barcode when opened with 3 days left on the ticket. Won’t let you buy tickets either. Deleted and redownloaded the app thinking this would solve the issue but now it says my ticket is downloaded on another device!!! I have spent £8 on new tickets in the past couple of days all down to this horrible new app.
Arriva have advised that they are aware of and trying to fix these issues and that drivers should still allow you to board when showing them the app screen but I have been met with nothing but resistance every single time. One driver even patronisingly asked “are you SURE that’s the new app?” Despite me showing him the screen which suggests their own drivers don’t even know what their new app is supposed to look like weeks after launching!! I wish it was the old app as it actually worked!!!!!!
Appreciate initial teething issues happen etc. and I have been slow to voice my annoyance because I’m pretty understanding but it’s been nearly a month since it launched and it’s costing me extra money. Sort it out.

I literally cannot even begin to say how much this app doesn’t work. I paid over £50 for a monthly ticket and I’ve had to buy a ticket almost every day since. But when you complain about that you don’t get offered a refund you get “sorry for any inconvenience caused”! Some days the barcode won’t show, sometimes it says the app is under construction, sometimes it says my ticket is being used on another device when it isn’t, at one point the ticket started showing that it hadn’t been activated but wouldn’t let me activate it! Most recently the ticket just isn’t there, it looks as though I’ve never bought anything. They said there would be an update to fix this but nothing yet. Just buy paper tickets on the bus and save yourself the stress!

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Within 2 days of buying my ticket I had to spend 40 minutes on hold as my ticket would not work. The guy on the phone was as helpful as he could be, deleted and reinstated my ticket which worked for a few days. Since then it’s been intermittent at best, and today the app deleted my purchase history, deleted my ticket, refused to show any buses on the live map, refused to show any timetables, then logged me out and refused to let me log back in. If it wasn’t for the lovely bus driver accepting my email receipt, I would have had to walk the 4 miles home after a 13 hour shift. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old apps. Guess tomorrow I’ll have to phone customer services again -_-

First week of school year and couldn’t buy tickets app says “under construction” when opened and trying to buy tickets!!!! Seriously? Could you have picked a worse time for maintenance? App is not as good as old app, bought my child an annual ticket just before this app went live and the old app his ticket is on shuts down in Oct with no info on what happens to transfer existing tickets.
Website says an email was sent 25th Aug with a link to transfer ticket but got nothing having checked all inbox/junk ect.
Customer service chat wouldn’t/couldn’t transfer his ticket and no info on how it would actually be done. Was told it would happen automatically but that’s impossible as apps do not share the same login you have to create a whole new account.
After over a week buying tickets and checking bus times has been very patchy if app works or not.
New app doesn’t show live bus data/location along route and if bus is delayed disappears from app timetable as soon as actual scheduled time lapses so impossible to know when or if it will arrive.
Also can’t change default location either so have to keep manually selecting the ticket zone each time. why create a new app without all the features of old apps? overall a good idea to combine 2 apps but implemented badly and no idea how current annual tickets will be transferred across.

Arriva should be ashamed of themselves, a multi million dollar making company cannot even get a few professionals to redesign a working app! Same with online web experience, cannot believe the stress we have to go through in order just to find some travel information or to purchase a ticket, its been like this for several years now, please sort it out urgently, i will no longer use arriva or recommend it to anyone, until arriva sort themselves out.
Oh i forgot to add - if you are a bus user in luton you will understand what i mean, wanna suffocate if you have asthma or breathing problems then travel on an arriva bus in the summer when the air conditioning is blasting out hot air! Or how about winter travel when the air condition is actually blowing cold air! The complete reverse of what it should be, and theres more! Maybe another time!

Having being made to download a new app at 6:30 in morning and inputting all my details before catching bus at 6:50, I then got on only for it not to work. I then had to pay again, £4, as no change can be given, and it’s all I had on me, only to spend the first 3 hours of my day on hold or being told it’s sorted when it’s not and having to call back, and not earning any money, trying to sort this out. I was then sent a new ticket only for me not to be able activate it and have to pay another £2:30 to come home. 4 days later I’m still waiting for an email to explain what’s going on, which i was told would be that day. So a trip to work that should of cost £4:50 has now cost me £11:80 and still had no reply as to what’s wrong and how I’m getting my money back. Arrivas customer service is a disgrace.

The concept of the app is good, as it combines the ticket and means of finding your journey times etc into one. However, I am not very happy as the app has broken down for me for 2 days and would not let me use it, but other people were using it fine - I had purchased a weekly ticket and therefore was not able to access it. If it wasn’t for the lovely drivers and me being able to find my receipt of the ticket I would have had to purchase new tickets. Once the app started to work again, I had to log back in and I still had my ticket on the app but it said that it was active on another device - again meaning that I cannot use my ticket which I need to get to work everyday. I am not happy as I have spent money on a ticket that I cannot even use! I think that the previous two apps worked a lot better and I never had any problems with them - please fix these problems.
