Helped me pass

I’ve had this app for around 4 to 5 months. I would practice little and often thanks to the engaging format of this app. I passed my theory and largely thank this app because it helped embed all theory knowledge and gave me the confidence to understand theory content.Definitely worth it !

I passed thanks to this app

This app is really good, I took my theory test for the first time a few years ago and failed by 7 points due to the road signs. I hadn’t learnt anything before sitting my first test but after failing I downloaded the app and sat the test again about a month later and fail again but this time by 3. I took a break for a while and decided to do it again and failed by 1 but that was my own mistake. I sat it today and I finally passed! This app has helped me understand questions I found confusing and helped a lot with road signs which was the main area I struggled with.

Only used this app

Used this app because I like James May but expected to have to read the Highway Code or something. To my surprise this app covered everything, I used it once a day for a month-ish and passed my theory yesterday 50/50 correct! Couldn’t recommend it more!

Best app

This is the best app for the theory test and good parts for the practical driving test too. The price each month is ok we love things cheaper but it’s kinda worth it.
Massive thing I should have known before is *don’t just master the videos then expect the test to be what you have mastered!!!*
The videos are different and work slightly different but it prepares you for the videos you get on test.
It’s worth trying it for a while the questions each day going over it over and over helps get it into your mind. You can master the questions and this is what you want to do to pass!

Easy first time pass

The app is great in almost every way, only downside is lack of variety in hazard perception. The best is James’ humour scattered across the app. Fun games so it’s less like a chore to learn. Great use of repeating the ones you get wrong. What more do you want?

This is the best theory test app ever. I love that the tests were segmented not like other apps that are so cumbersome. I enjoyed using it as it helped me pass my theory test. Thank you.

I was recommended this app by a friend a while ago now. I started paying for it about 3-4 weeks ago, I took the theory practice test just two days after I started practicing, I got 30 out of 50 on the multiple choice and 32 out of 75 on the hazard perception. And I began to worry because I had 2 and a bit weeks till the test. I basically had no understanding, I only knew that slowing down and waiting was the best answer to most things. However I practiced twice a day nearly everyday. If I missed it twice I would always still do it at least once, but for the most part twice everyday. I just took my theory test this morning and passed I went from 30 out of 50, (which the right answers was mostly just by chance) to getting 46 out of 50 and passing the hazard perception comfortably. All the questions I got in the test I had come across and been taught from this app. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without this app. It’s incredible, easy to use and fun. If you’re taking your test soon this is the best app to get ready for it.

Best theory test app

App is absolutely fantastic and makes revising for the theory test really fun. Straightforward to use and nice graphics to go along with it. Hazard perception on this app is particularly good especially the review sections where James goes through how to approach the entire clip. Decent app ruined by a subscription model

The app is beginner-friendly with a nice layout and helpful videos from James May. I liked the themed sections like road signs and stopping distances, plus the hints and instant feedback on answers.
However, the question pool is quite repetitive compared to the official DVSA app. I don’t think I would have passed my Theory Test using this alone.
I paid £4.99 for the full version but couldn’t restore it after changing phones, as the app had since moved to a subscription model. The “restore purchases” button didn’t work — it only seems to work if you have an active subscription. Their support were helpful and gave me a year’s access, saying I could reach out again if needed, which I appreciated. But this really shouldn’t be an issue for users who paid outright. Most similar apps are a one-off purchase, and I’d much rather pay once than be pushed into a subscription. The switch to a subscription model has ruined it for me — my rating would have been lower if support hadn’t stepped in.

Sensational app, cannot recommend enough

All my friends who took the driving theory test failed on their first time, and many failed more than once. Through using this app, I managed to pass first time with full confidence. A must for learning drivers if you want to speed up the process whilst learning invaluable information that you can show off to instructors etc. Also extremely reasonably priced and have been honoured to support James May and the incredibly talented team behind this masterpiece. 11/10 would go back in time just to use it again for the first time.

First time pass!

This app is amazing. It is BETTER than 4 in 1. It is perfect. The format is amazing. The questions are almost identical to the ones I got in the exam and the app sets it out amazingly. Unlike other apps I’ve tried like 4 in 1 which the interface is old and very gritty. This app is amazing, it marks in real time and lets you retry questions. Each section is accompanied by a video and it’s just wonderful. I passed first time. I had forgotten my theory was today, and left all my revision for 1 single day. I just spammed the questions and the sections were so neatly set out and so nice, I was able to revise EVERYTHING in 1 day. And passed today! I got 46/50 in theory, 61/75 in hazard perception. Highly recommend. Better than every app on the market by far.

It is truly brilliant...

I've been enjoying May performing in the trio, and just came across this app. He's claiming that the theory test is "dull" and that this app is "brilliant". Well, given that I have experience with other app as preparing for my own first test, I have to say I kind of regret not only getting this app. The content of theory is truly dull, unfortunately, but I'm glad to see that learning all that can be hell of a lot easier. This is a nicely organised little app, making the process of learning easier. Before, I was practicing the questions (other app) and when coming across a new concept, I basically had to guess... then it was either good or bad. Now, (this app) when I'm shown a question, there's actually an explain button so I can learn about the concept before answering. Yes, kinda sounds like cheating as your score will be high to a beginner, but this way actually (probably thanks to science...) I am learning everything. Next time the question comes up, I straight have the answer 😊 I can only recomend, and it's reasonably charged 😄

The Best No-Nonsense Theory Test App!

This app was an absolute game-changer in helping me pass my theory test! Unlike other apps that can feel cluttered or full of unnecessary distractions, this one gets straight to the point with a clear, no-nonsense approach. The questions are structured perfectly, and the explanations really help reinforce your understanding.
Having James May involved is a brilliant touch—his calm, straightforward style makes learning feel effortless and even enjoyable. As he says, it’s all just common sense, and if you take a moment to think calmly during the test, it actually is. That mindset made a huge difference for me, helping me stay focused and confident.
If you want an app that cuts through the fluff and gets you test-ready fast, this is the one to get. Highly recommended!

I PASSED!! I AM SO HAPPY , thank you JM

I failed My Theory Test in 2019 after only using books to study and that failure really knocked my confidence and in general I have anxiety around driving. The James May app is straightforward and I like how it’s all based off the date of your test. I used the app every day for an hour ,two weeks before my test. I was able to pass today! I like how everything is broken down into categories and you’re able to track your progress. 5 pounds for a one month subscription is very reasonable they could easily charge more. if you use this app and complete the training path out for you, you will pass your test! Highly recommend! Drop the fiver one month before your test and you won’t regret it.

Passed First Time!

I’m not one for leaving app reviews, but considering that this is the sole app I used to study for my theory test, I think it deserves some praise.
I also read the standard books published by the DVSA since my instructor had them to hand, but I think that this app provides a brilliant overview of the topics and questions. It could probably be used as your sole study resource, however I’d always recommend using the books too, if you can, just to fill in any potential gaps.
I found the hazard perception section particularly useful, and I think I owe my success with this part of the test to the app. Use the Three Click Method when practicing, then revise in your spare time until you can get all five points in each clip consistently. When you get to the actual test, the clips will seem much more familiar! My final marks were 47/50 for the multiple choice and 65/75 for the hazard perception in the real thing.
Bonus points for the little bits of humour in the app, it was much appreciated and lightened up the tone of my studying.
I started using the app about two and a half months before my test and passed today on my first attempt, in case you’re wondering when you should begin revising. Everybody’s different and starting earlier rather than later is always a good idea.
Big thanks to this app for getting me through Stage One of acquiring The Power of Vroom!

THANK YOU JAMES MAY AND DEVELOPERS

After my 5th time, I have passed my theory test 10 mins ago with FULL MARKS on my multiple choice! The multiple choice was never my strong suit and I had tried another app beforehand and would always get a few away from the pass mark. Two weeks before my test I downloaded and subscribed to this one and got full marks on the multiple choice. I cannot recommend this app enough! Everything was easy to understand and the fun quirky remarks helped make learning bearable. Tracking progress was a big help for me personally so I loved that you could get achievements, it made me want to keep going and going and I actually retained the info! Thank you developers for making a great app, if only I found you sooner!

Passed first time

I can’t fault this app I’m a young single mum to a toddler I had to put my driving off when I first had him a few years back but now I am getting back into it and can honestly say this app works. In all honesty I only practiced for probably a week because raising a toddler working and running a house is hard work but I found this so much better than the actual dvla app plus it saved me £5 that’s I would of had to pay for the official dvla app😂im 100% not book smart whatsoever and have always been more for the practical side but this app made it so easy and simple I remembered the main bits I needed to and passed it first go I cannot fault it ☺️

Fairplay to the creators of this app, they have made what is probably the most boring thing surrounding vehicles somewhat bare-able. The app is quite engaging once you get into the bulk of it and the videos from May are very helpful - hazard perception in particular. Just a warning to anyone using the clips for practice however, they use the same clips in the test but change the hazard so don’t be lulled into a false sense of security! There were two questions on my test that i don’t think ever came up on the app: one being about car skidding and the other was about a school crossing light i think? Absolutely worth the money, thanks again 😄

Passed first time thanks to this app

I used this app about half an hour a day for a month and passed my theory first time. Every topic/question in my actual test was covered in this app. I think the training feature is really helpful, as well as being able to go through each category of questions and see which ones you’re best at and which you need a bit more practice on. The explanations and tips are very easy to follow and understand. I tried out the official DVSA app, and I 100% found this one more helpful. I recommend anyone who’s got their test coming up, use this app everyday and you’ll smash it. Well worth the money.

Literally a duplicate of Red learning App

Initially I thought the app was fabulous, having tried a few others. But after after booking actual lessons with Red driving school through the app and being given their app for free as part of the package, I realised it’s exactly the same, the videos, the questions, everything.
I don’t like that when you take the mock theory test you can’t actually review your answers or hazard perception videos, makes it very hard to learn. There are also a few hazard perception videos that don’t actually tell you when you should have clicked, again, making it hard to learn how to get full marks on the videos as you can only hear his voice but not the 5 second timer and the little flags at the bottom. So the app needs some review.

The essential tool for passing your driving theory test

This app is excellent - you can learn everything you need to know from scratch by doing two training sessions (about 10-15 mins each) per day in about two weeks. The classic James May humour made this an enjoyable and easy to learn experience. Two things really helped me - 1. The format of practicing questions is designed to teach you as you learn, so you can build your confidence quickly, and 2. The hazard perception examples being narrated by James after you’ve had a go helps you to identify the types of hazards in various scenarios very quickly. As a lot of people say, the questions aren’t trick ones - the content is the same as the theory test itself (although on the actual test some of the questions are phrased differently to make you think about the right answer). I’ve just walked out of the test centre and I’ve passed at my first attempt - thanks James and team!

Better than the other apps ( one suggestion tho)

I much prefer using this app than the others like theory 4 in 1
Granted i do wish i was able to outright purchase the app like that one allows you to because monthly payments only doesn't seem quite fair to me as id like to use this app even after passing.
One thing i would add would be a mini driving game simulator that put you in first person as the driver sitting next to the instructor you click on how you would set up the car adjustments etc like you would in the test and which pedals to press when moving forward you could steer the vehicle by rotating the phone side ways like those old school driving simulators they had for learner drivers on pc the techs there now to add it to the app so i reckon it would make a nice addition to the app i think theory 4 in 1 has it already so maybe you could as a developer try out their one and see if maybe you would like to incorporate a similar feature in your one could even add it as a VR headset feature so that your fully immersed in the driving school lesson and what the test will be like
Update i cant log into my account for this app on my other phone really frustrating as ive been unable to use the app for quite some time now with no way of being able to contact the developers

Passed first time

I was using the DVLA theory app since early 2024. I was very quick to give up and admit that theory was not my strong point. A friend of mine suggested trying this app instead so I downloaded in early May this year. This app is a lot easier and has a better lay out and process. I took my chances and booked my theory test on the 27th of May with only a month of practice. My first theory test was today (25/06), first attempt and first time ever being in the building. I passed multiple choice 48/50 and hazard perception 53/75. I was completely doubting myself and didn’t feel ready for my test when I walked in but I walked out absolutely delighted. Worth the money 100% 🎉

Theory Test Triumph’s

I've turned to this app twice because I couldn't pass my practical test within the two-year timeframe, mainly due to the long wait of six months between each practical test. However, this app proved invaluable, helping me pass both theory tests on my first attempt. It's updated, covering all the questions encountered on my test. The hazard perception test section offers valuable practice, including instructional videos guiding users on what to observe and when to click. I recommended this app to a friend who was also struggling to pass, and he succeeded with it too. Overall, it's the top app in its category, and I highly recommend it. Huge fan of Top Gear and James May too!

Passed first time - again!

I passed my car theory test pre covid, it had expired by the time I could afford lessons and I’m only just picking it back up. I used a different app back then, couldn’t tell you what it was. I remember thinking it was a bit clunky, but it did the job.
Scrolling through tik tok I found James May’s driving theory account and this spurred me on to give the app a go, I’m very glad I did! The app is fantastic, works as it should and the training categories are fantastic and the mock tests and hazard perception were both brilliant.
James’ attitude within the app is as you’d expect, slightly funny but of course - professional and honest. I passed first time using this for revision, I didn’t stick to the training plan and instead rinsed mock theory tests over and over again. Overall I am very pleased and I would highly recommend this app for new learners.

I passed

I passed, which was a shock as although I did revise, I didn’t do more than an hour and a half the odd day, but I started off and on last year, I didn’t rush. I found doing too much wiped my brain of all of my knowledge and progress. James made the app fun, not too serious, loads of tips, hints and games, plus I found it easy to follow even with my autism and learning difficulties. Now I’m 51, so if I can do it, so can you the reader. Just to let you know, I had about 2/3 questions from the app in my multiple choice and about 4 videos with my hazard test, the rest I’d never seen before, so revise, revise and revise, and common sense is a big thing on your real theory.
Good luck my James May app friends, you can do it.m, smash it. And a big big thank you again to James May

Lives up to expectations!

I booked my theory test about 3 weeks ago and needed a simple to use app to help me learn the ropes, I was browsing the App Store and came along this app, the reviews were amazing and given it was made by an icon of my childhood I thought I’d give it a shot. The app certainly met my expectations, it personalised a training program for me so I’d know everything in time and the resources were easy to use and understand, admittedly I did find myself questioning some of the hazard perception results I got but overall the experience was amazing. Thanks to the app, I passed my theory test first time and for that I can’t recommend it enough to anyone else looking to learn for their test!

Revised for 10 hours the day before my test and passed with this app

Now I wouldn’t recommend only revising the day before your test, but I had got the dates mixed up and only realised the day before. I could have paid a fee to change it, but thought I may as well give it a go. I downloaded this app and revised all day. I felt like my head was going to explode and my hand was going to fall off from holding my phone but it worked and I aced the test. It’s very user friendly, and most of the questions I practiced were also in the test. The hazard perception practice was incredibly helpful and also very similar to the test itself. I would definitely recommend using this app.

Worth the £6.99

I never pay for apps because I’m apprehensive about their quality. However, the 10,000s of positive reviews and feedback for this app is absolutely true. I downloaded it 6 weeks before my theory and used it daily to train for the test which I passed. The app is well laid out and it is quite nice to have the comical commentary of James May. I definitely recommend this to anyone who’s got their theory coming up, especially if you’re like me and failed it before. It’s helps make learning fun and memorable.
To the app developers, I feel there are few tweaks needed - on the day of the test I wanted to use the app to revise quickly just before but it asked if I’d passed my test. I had to click “haven’t taken it yet” then reset the test date so I could check that off. Adding a time of test could be nice so it doesn’t preemptively ask if it’s passed as I’m sure many use it on the day of. Also more hazard perception videos if it’s possible because I had learned them all and felt like I was only passing on the app because I knew what and when the hazard was going to be.

Great App better than the 4 in 1

I like how immersive this app is. You can easily navigate through it and it makes sure you understand what you’re doing. The training plans are a great idea. However, I did not do the training plan and mastered each topic individually on the multiple choice and Hazard perception. Thanks to this I passed first try! The downside is that it said I was gonna fail because I didn’t complete the training tasks. It also doesn’t allow you to share whether you have passed or not without the training plan feature. There was also a bit of misinformation being the fact that I would fail because I hadn’t done 100% mastery. I had only done 50% on both sections and I felt that was enough for me to pass, which I assumed correctly. Im still going to hate the app for saying I would fail just because I went about the training plan differently. The app also crashes a lot when on the hazard perception section which was annoying because it would make me do it again, when all I wanted was to access the video explanation. Apart from that the app was really good and is easy for anyone of All ages to understand 👍🏾

Good but not Great.

I passed my driving theory test first time, however when doing practice questions they were far too much of one catergory (setting off) and not a mix of all questions. As a result i only bared scraped a pass in the real thing and wae expecting to do so much better as some questions i had just not seen before despite having done at least 70% in all the categories and having done all the hazard perception videos. I think it would be a great help if the developers relooked at their algorithm for practice questions and made it a much bigger mix of questions and also present a new question every quiz. Other than that it is a really good app and a lot nicer than the main dvsa one.

Best app!!

Brought this app a couple months ago after reading all the reviews. Possibly the best app to learn! Although I didn’t pass first time due to no fault of my own as I wasn’t using the app as much as it was suggesting me to. As soon as booked another theory test I started to use it everyday until I had my 2nd test and because this app helped me to gain knowledge I passed! This app lets you take in everything you need to know very quickly in the most easiest way possible! Would 100% recommend. I also brought the £2.99 add on for the practical and hopefully I can past first time!

Recommend to people who are struggling or don’t know how to revise

I was struggling to pass my theory test twice and I was going to give up until I found this app advised and after using this app I was able to pass my theory test with ease. The app gives you training plans and each plan is different and they help you in what you are struggling in the plans and if you don’t like to do the training plans you can go through the topics individually. Also, the app tracks your progress and it can help you keep track of when your theory is if you tell it to and remind you to revise if you want to be reminded.
All in all a brilliant app, to use to revise and highly recommend.

Passed 1st time 50/50 marks after only 4 days using this!

I bought this app ages ago and never really used it. Finally after a year and a bit later I booked my theory and still hadn’t done ANY revision. I set my training plan on here for 4 days till my test and the practice sessions with the questions, hazards, signage and more questions were super useful. Some was common sense, other parts had to be learnt.
The 50 question mock tests were great as-well. Being prepared for how the test would work and the hazard perception with the clicking and flag system was helpful too even though you do get shown on the test day.
Managed to pass perfect (50 of 50) on questions and got a pass mark for my hazard. Looking forward to the driving lessons and using the other resources this app has to offer in regard to practical.

Childhood can create futures!

James may, mr slow. Or as Clarkson would simply say “MAYYYYYY”
He’s always been one of my favourite presenters and I’m so thankful he was placed in to create a DVLA driving theory (including addon of practical: I haven’t done that yet)
I’m so glad James was asked to make this. Not Hammond for many reasons.
But since I first started to watch the “setting off” video clip I was hooked. It may have been from those witty mediocre dark humoured joke which wouldn’t offend anyone unless your unsophisticated.
On the 22nd of January 2023 I took the first step the first quiz. Mind you it’s mostly common sense but James explained it simply and interestingly.
I didn’t have too listen to an AI voice sounding like they want to absolutely annihilate themselves while listening to a podcast by Katy Hopkins.
James shows interest, like he showed in toy stories or his adventures with Oz Clarke.
If you want to learn theory and enjoy the prcoess this is he app. Since 22nd January and now on the 7th of February I can now officially say prior to 9am. I have passsed my theory.
I hope you take this advice, you certainly will love this app.

GET THIS APP!!!

I couldn’t recommend this app enough. I’ve just taken my theory test and the questions in the app were literally identical to the questions on the real test. I got 49/50 on the theory and 65/75 on the hazard perception. Even the hazard perception videos on the app were practically identical to the ones I had on the test. It’s easy to use and I love the way it tracks your progress so you know exactly where you are with learning everything. It teaches you by making you answer questions which is good because most apps you don’t really have a clue what you’ve learnt, it just tells you information and doesn’t really teach you anything. Basically you literally cannot fail if you work through this app and do the practice test. The only in-app purchase is for the practical test tips which is optional and doesn’t stop you learning any of the theory. THANK YOU JAMES MAY!!!

Great app with room for improvement

I slightly regret spending so much time on this app. The interface is fun and user friendly, however none of my mock test results count towards my mastery progress, only practice tests, which means a lot of my work isn’t counted. I also find the algorithm shows the same questions over and over again despite answering them correctly at least 10 times, and doesn’t show me new questions as frequently making mastery progress very slow despite having pass several mock tests. Also, one aspect of the UI can be improved: the “display answers now” button is places exactly where question answers are, which often result in me pressing an answer by accident just when the timer expires, at least let users turn that function off.

Passed first time solely thanks to this app!

I had been using the ‘training’ sessions to revise casually when I had a while to go until my test. The week it came around I panicked and went through every section in the ‘James May Way’ and completed it 100%. The achievement badges were a nice touch and my confidence grew and I began to think I was in with a chance.
Took the test this morning, and passed with great results! The only thing I’ll mention is that in the hazard perception section, I was so used to clicking on the actual hazard in the app that when it came to the real thing, the fact that you just had to click in general threw me off a bit - but it was easy to adjust.
A simple but thorough, highly effective app. I owe my pass to it entirely! :)

Amazing App!

I had to retake my theory because it ran out after covid and they wouldn’t extend it [Since a lot of lessons were halted due to the pandemic] so I decided to study for it using this app. It is amazing! It goes through each question that you’ve gotten wrong and explanations of answers. I wasn’t able to continuously study using this app because of work and uni but for the little journey time that I had, I spent around maybe three or four hours on it before I had to take my test. The day before, I took multiple mock tests on this app and when I went in to do my theory - a lot of those questions I practiced from the mock were on the actual test! And so, confidentially and under half an hour of the test, I passed. If you’re looking for something quick and easily explained, this app is great to use for the theory test. Far more better than the DVSA Theory App that I used for my last test.

Feeling ready ( and I passed)

Amazing, feeling very confident! ( this part was before I passed) Passed first time with 47/50 And on hazard perception 46/75 This app was a game changer as it gave me the chance to complete all 14/15 videos and have an overall score out of 75 without break and most other theory apps give a score per video whilst you had to exit and prepare the next. This way it prepared me for how it would be in my test which was extremely helpful as the pressure in the scenario could have been too much if it hadn’t already practiced in that scenario. I had took many mock tests and majority of the questions if not all had been ones I’ve seen whilst them on the app, just in a slightly different format ( on majority) even a few had the exact same. I completed my test in under 40 minutes due to how confident I felt on the multiple choice sector. Overall 5/5 and would recommend to a friend, going to buy the practical package too due to my success!

The only app you need!

I downloaded several other theory test apps but after I discovered this one, I didn’t bother with those anymore. The James May app is well worth your money. It’s an easy to use and enjoyable method, offering the satisfaction of playing a game. I loved listening to James commenting on the hazard perception videos afterwards, and the way that your answer lights up green if you get it correct. One improvement that could be made: the option to turn off the delay in seeing the multiple choice answers for all questions, not just for each individual one, which gets tiresome.

Passed first time, very easy to follow. I recommend !

I Bought this app which was recommended to me from a mate and it’s quality, passed first time with about 3 weeks of revision, doing revision every day for about an hour. I recommend doing 2 training sessions a day and 10 question quizzes from the “James may way” section on a few of the subjects, also with the stop sign section. Don’t over do mock tests, do them when you want but on the week of your test start to do them a lot as they cover everything you would’ve been revising, and you can get a good idea on how well you will do on the test. The hazard perception videos are very useful as well. Good luck on your test!

The Best Driving Theory App

The personable approach of this app coupled with the down to earth and straight forward no nonsense teaching style of James May is what puts this app above the rest, allowing me to pass first time.
Where other apps feel faceless or lack personality that aids your learning, this app thrives while featuring more personal videos that actually explain topic areas clearly, enhanced by a dash humour that is, James May - our man in… the… van?
The app is well developed and designed too. My only suggestion at the time of writing would be to add more hazard perception videos, as practice eventually turns into a memory game. However this is probably more a limitation of what of the official pool of videos they’re allowed to use and will is a natural problem depending on how often you practice. That said, there’s still a decent amount.
Common sense is the theme on which this app stands and unlike others that actually comes across here (not just because James literally says it). It’s this understanding that allows you to stop overthinking about these questions and more likely to not only learn them but remember them while on the road, because after all, it is only common sense.
So yeah if you couldn’t tell, I highly recommend this app.

Really good app

Really good app, helped me pass my theory. Really liked the sections, easy app and nice UI, never encountered any bugs.
I have a couple of suggestions that I wish were available in the app, but this isn’t me saying it’s bad. Just some potential ideas for devs to make it even better.
- Ability to select ‘warm up questions’ and the shorter ‘3 hazard perception clips’ more than once, rather than just ‘once’ per round of four in the training plan
If you just want to do the warm up questions, or just the shorter 3 random hazard perception clips, you have to go through the entire four sections of training. Wish there was an option to just to select these individually somewhere.
I like having the three random hazard perception clips, rather than just clicking through a category and selecting a clip myself. Same with the random shorter quizzes.
- More variation in road sign testing
Wish there was more variety in the sign testing area. In the sense of, if you want questions like ‘where would you find this sign’, you have to get it through the random quiz or mock test.
Again, just suggestions! But great app 👍

Amazing App! Cannot recommend highly enough

If you are hesitant with this app, don’t be. It is the best app for learning how to pass the theory test. I was skeptics at first but thought I’d have a shot at it because who doesn’t love James May?! Anyway, the app is amazing. It is perfect for younger people as well as there is lots of pictures and funny quips. There is lots of wee videos from the man himself and it goes through every single detail of the theory test and ultimately, HOW TO PASS!!! I passed first time using this app. So, I’m my opinion, drop the dull DVLA app and use this instead as this will help you a lot more. (Coming from a person who bought and used both)
So what are you waiting for? GET IT AND PASS!!!!

This helped me pass first time

This app helped me pass my theory test first time. It’s simple to use, straight forward and doesn’t make any of the criteria more complicated. There are multiple ways to learn on this app whether that being the training plan that gives you a little bit of everything as a small reviser. There was “The James May way” which I found to be very useful as it was cut into sections those being simplified topics of what would come up in the real test. I found this method the most useful as I could happily focus on the section I struggled with the most. The mock test which puts you in a scenario like you would be in the real thing but it’s just a mock test and nothing counts. Yes this app may have been a huge help and that is why I passed first time but like anything out there that you want to achieve, you have to put the time and effort in to make it count. Doesn’t have to take a whole day, could just be 15 minutes or an hour a day. Over time that you’ll really benefit and you’ll thank yourself. Really good app, would recommend it to anyone. The videos are straight to the point and give off a very reassuring tone. And it’s developed by James may, a literal legend so why wouldn’t you? He knows his stuff.

Great app

Passed first time with the use of this app, all the questions are what you can expect to see in the real test, worded the same way etc. Only criticism on my end would be the hazard perception section of the app feels slightly off, the scores given don’t seem to be in the correct places of the video and when compared to the official DVSA websites hazard perception tests it is seen to be the case. However in all this app is absolutely amazing, the addition of James talking through the questions and how he does things really helps give a better perspective on the theory test and driving as a whole. Great job on the app folks and thanks very much!

Use this app and you will pass

A Really clever and well made app . By actually having a suggested training plan I.e 2 sessions a day for a test in 6 weeks , the app gives you a realistic and achievable target . The algorithms go over things you haven’t yet grasped until you get them . It works ! A session will only last you 10 minutes or so . I used it twice a day on the train to and from work for 5 weeks , a much better use of time than scrolling on Instagram .
Passed first time today as I expected to do so .
Who better to get you ready for the road than May ? Follow the plan and pass your test .
Highly recommended .

Superb App

Given the climate I had limited choice in test dates and took the first available. This happened to be only 2 weeks away. Whilst I don’t recommend sitting your test on short notice the James May app was superb and simply a common sense approach to learning. The reminders to practice are handy if like me you’d forget your head if it wasn’t attached. The videos explaining the tests and what you may have done wrong and James talking you through the tips is very handy. Working toward the different badges also keeps you motivated. Pleased to say I past first time, even if I did find myself taking to myself in James Mays voice throughout the hazard perception part! I would highly recommend using this App. Well done all involved.

Completed it mate.

Passed the first time! Thanks to the help of this app which gives you an easy to follow training plan and notifications as a reminder that kept me coming back to practice.
The number of questions you can be asked is huge and I’d attempted at using the DVLA app previously, its broken up into segments it’s not clear to follow and it’s off putting, like reading a text book. In fact I bought the app used it for a bit and left it for 2 years.
The James May way sets it out clearly from the get go on a training plan based on the date of your test. I went from purchase to passing in 2 months - for me anyway you could probably do it quicker!
Only feedback from me is Hazard Perception has room for improvement, the DVLA one reviews the clips in detail and where the flag should have been clicked to give you a better understanding, whereas in this app, you’re given a brief description from Mr May and sometimes left wondering when the correct time to click was, as it’s a small window, too early or too late - you’ve failed.

Great for Questions, not so great for Hazard Perception

I found the section based on the multiple choice Test really good, it only tests you on the things you’re not so good at but you have the option to practice the things you know to make sure you don’t forget them. The hazard perception, on the other hand, I found to be not as good. In other hazard perception apps, it shows you when you needed to click to get the marks, which I find very useful. I think that having James explain why you need to click and what has gone wrong is very useful and will make me a better driver, but I think it would be useful to also include some visual indication of when I should have clicked in order to get the marks.

It’s a good app but really glitchy today.

The app is great, really like it and I’ve been using it for a while with no issues. Probably the best I’ve tried. Like how it works on repetition because I have the memory of a goldfish. However today it’s been glitching loads. I completed hazard perceptions and it’s doesn’t finish the last video and count your score at the end. Just sticks. Just sends you in a loop to complete the same set of 3 when you click out of it. So I can’t move forward with it onto a new training session. It’s also crashing in general a lot. Saying I’ve closed the app when I am still on it.

Brilliant app - Passed first time

This app is absolutely brilliant. I was recommended it by a police officer just a few days before my test.
I wasn’t hopeful on passing because I only revised for around 3 hours in total before my actual test. Took my test today and passed, with 47/50 on the multiple choice.
Without this app, I can guarantee you I wouldn’t have done so well. It is designed very well. The interface itself is visually appealing and not some boring two tone screen. It is very well sectioned out such as ‘Train’, ‘The James May Way’ and Road signs etc. All of which entail a different way of learning.
The training is a layered way of learning and it tests a whole range of different questions, need-to-knows and hazard perception. The James May Way allows you to really focus on your weak points to ensure you aren’t left with a poor understanding of them.
You can also access tens of videos of hazard perception in each category for example ‘Bigger Roads’ or ‘Dangerous conditions’. You can revisit the ones you aren’t sure on whenever you like.
All in all, this app was extremely helpful and it is definitely worth the money. If it helped me pass first time with around 3 hours of using it, I’m sure it’ll help you too.

£4.99 Totally Worth It!

I have been struggling with the Theory Test for some time now but since I purchased this app has totally changed my knowledge with the theory test and it does help 100%. Due to having Dyslexia I found it very difficult to use other apps and the books to revise quite difficult but after also finding this app been very helpful. This app by James May has giving me confidence to get back at my theory after having a long break due to multiple fails. All the information along with the hazards perception test in here too is very helpful. I’m using this app a lot during the day and also night when I can’t sleep just to keep my brain active.

Hazard perception tests are not fit for purpose

It’s impossible to know when to click the screen upon spotting a hazard. When you get your feedback, it talks you through the route, but doesn’t specifically tell you what qualifies as a hazard and what doesn’t, nor does it tell you which hazards you have and haven’t identified. There isn’t even a counter on screen to show you the hazards accruing as you go. Often, I have spotted all of the hazards identified and the speaker has the same thought process as I do, which I’ve clicked, though clearly it was too soon or too late. No indication given about when you should click upon seeing the hazard. My outcomes in this portion of the test is all over the show, but I have no guidelines for improvement. Absolutely no idea how to get better at this part, though my performance on the other sections are improving steadily.
