Badges
I frequently get ‘badges’ (small red circles with numbers) showing on the app with no apparent reason. I expect these to be a flag for unread notifications but there’s nothing showing when I open the app.

Does what it says on the tin well enough. But it is a shame, for one, that Microsoft can’t sort out regional date formats in notifications and elsewhere within the app. Not everywhere uses the US’s MDY 👎; lot more use DMY.

OneDrive refused to upload my photos. I tried everything. Changed settings as per Microsoft website and finally reinstalled OneDrive. Still wouldn't work. You might be safe with this installed, but you won’t be able to do half the things you regularly do. And all much slower. Supermarket shopping apps simply stopped working with this installed. And the internet is ridiculously slow with constant errors loading pages. Don’t bother. Just be careful. Spotify stutters and stops. Complete waste of money.

Loving the interface however does slow down the internet speed
As a Full Time accountant and part time streamer internet speeds is vital for me. Microsoft defender slows the internet speeds down especially in the area I’m from.
Quick switch connections is poor in my opinion and could do a lot better.

Needs fixing
I’ve been using this since it was first launched, no issues. Unfortunately, since the last update. App connections to the internet, has become seriously impacted & degraded. Had to disable, once I did everything worked as normal. 4/8/2024 update still struggling to connect online.

Absolute nightmare
1. The VPN constantly switches off without warning when on Wi-Fi thus removing any protection you thought you had
2. The Wi-Fi connection can be active but Defender will say it is offline and then nothing else can connect to use the Wi-Fi
3. When not on Wi-Fi and if Defender is not allowed to use mobile data, it stops every other app from being able to use mobile data so renders your phone useless
4. If Defender is allowed to use mobile data, it randomly uses 40mb chunks, sometimes every few minutes. It can consume over a Gigabyte in a day without you being aware.
Look for a better product.

Extremely Poor
The VPN virtually seizes up your device. It slows it down ridiculously. Not only that it logs you off then says it doesn’t recognise your login details and there’s no such customer with your login name.
Then it “might” decide (it’s so inconsistent you just don’t know what it’s going to do) that you are a customer but you can only login by changing your password to such an extent that I’ve run out of password options now!
MS really needs to get its act together as they get worse with each use and each application.
And then they have the cheek to ask you for an annual subscription even though aren’t delivering to you as a customer!

Its OK!
Its good across multiple devices, good for defence...... But really slows down you Internet, Im meant to get a blazzing fast 1Gbps but with this Im only getting a mere 15Mbps, also some streaming apps wont like it either as they will say you are not in country that supports that app. Battery drain is also a problem, had my phone charged to 99% put down while I slept, drained down to 66% in only a few hours. To turn off the VPN from settings doesnt work as it witches straight back on, not sure if a IOS problem or app problem. Apart from thats it okay

It might keep your phone safe, but…
I’ve had some issues with the bandwidth/speed of my broadband recently. Google “speed test” and I used to get around 600Mbs. Switch on VPN and boom, down to 50Mbs Not realising early enough, I’ve replaced my hub, router and cables. Then I found out the real culprit was this “safe” app. 🤦🏼♂️

Slowed down my phone
After about 3 months after installing on my iPhone 14 Pro Max it started to slow my phone all apps including safari and WiFi connection was very slow I uninstalled it then phone went back to normal.

Slowing my wifi and blocking my apps
I thought it was the iOS update but I’ve just turned the protection off in this app and it fixed the problem I had with my airtime rewards app. It wasn’t opening and after deleting and trying to log in after reinstall kept getting error messages. Contacted their help team who suggested it may be VPN. turned it off and the app worked perfectly. Also ran speed test whilst it was off (85.5/50) with it on (22/39) that’s not helpful. Might also explain all the page time outs and payment rejections I’ve had over the last week or so. Even the update hasn’t fixed so won’t be turning it back on until this is fixed in another update.

Okay until recent issue
Was working okay but now it won’t allow web protection on the iPad Pro to stay enabled. Toggle switch won’t lock on to enable. 6 November 2023 12:32 GMT.
Update above issue was fixed but since latest update it is impossible to use the internet properly or other apps that link to internet. I’ll give the developer 24 hours to fix or else I’m deleting the app.

Clash with Outlook and Authenticator
For a few weeks outlook has been locking up when authenticating for work accounts making the app almost unusable. Have just uninstalled defender and it seems to have solved the problem.

Does not work
There’s is a real issue with this app and the compatibility with the iPhone 14. On installing it works fine for a few hours then it completely disabled the phone. No internet access no service no connectivity to Bluetooth devices. Nothing. When you try to open turn off the vpn it doesn’t allow you to. When you try to open the app it closes dien staring away. You have to delete the app to get your phone working again.

App no longer works after latest update
After the most recent update I found that my phone wasn’t connecting to the WiFi and it also wasn’t getting any internet connection on the 4G. I was concerned that I may have a virus etc so went to check the defender app and it wouldn’t open. I then uninstalled it and my WiFi connected straight away. I have now reinstalled the defender app but it won’t let me sign in. Some Serious bug fixes needed here!!

Hasn’t worked for me
Installed and setup on my iPad. Tested it with a phishing email and it failed to detect the nature of the email. I was never challenged or warned that this was a bogus attempt to obtain personal details. I wonder what the point of this app is as it failed on the basics.

Installed app and created account. When logging in via another device it says it can’t find my account, yet when trying to create another account using the same email it says that there is already an account with that email. Recent releases poor
This app used to work OK, but recent releases have caused issues - most recently I have had several occasions where I had to delete the app because it completely prevented WiFi traffic (mobile data worked fine). Reinstalling and it worked ok again.

Ineffective, needs work.
I thought I’d test this out before putting it on my family’s phones and iPads. Whilst testing I received 2 scam messages and the app did nothing while following their links. The app also fails to report the correct status most of the time so when you view security status on another device it’s reported as “unknown”. This happened for both my iPad and iPhone. I tried reinstalling and this fixed it for a few hours but the same happened again.

Cannot sign in
Fails to sign in, the 2 step authentication cannot complete. This is either an issue with Microsoft Authenticator or the app. It stays stuck on the number confirmation, cannot use get codes because I cannot enter it.

Mega high data usage
