RUN AWAY

The platform is unstable, uploading and editing events is time consuming and the site is glitchy- both the ap and the desktop versions. And due to some bizarre error all of my network and upcoming events were deleted and cannot be retrieved. Customer service is COMPLETELY USELESS!!! Apparently they are unable to provide refunds when they make a mistake. Furious. Do not recommend.

Changed

Recent changes serve very little purpose for our groups, and seems to be focusing on new owners promoting their other businesses through meet up. Many groups in the UK feel the same and you gonna lose groups over time …. Look after the small people as they gonna be your bread and butter!

For the last few months this app - and the main Meetup app - have both been unusable, posting a “Network Error” every time I try to log in.

Price gouging app - don’t start a group

I subscribed to this app to start a small dog walking group. Initially costing $160pa in less than 2 years they now want to charge $358 pa although their own website says annual charges are $174.99.
They will not correspond other than to say you can cancel the group.
Unless you are willing to accept huge subscription increases each year I suggest avoiding this app as you will be disappointed as they ramp up the charges.

Full of glitches and problems!

Please read my technical issue requests, I couldn’t publish my latest event or edit it on my desktop so I’ve had to announce it with only partial information via the app, which in turn doesn’t give me all the features I need.
Meetup is really underperforming in a bad way at the moment and I’m feeling exasperated!

This should be an important app

I can’t believe how much I have to pay and the app doesn’t even work properly. I run a walking group and I’m trying to type out a description of a walk and it keeps copying and pasting what I’ve already written for no reason at all !

It’s all gone wonky!

What has happened? Edits to events are saved and yet not, so start again from scratch. Publish an event to group and no-one receives an notification. I’m a host but not showing as a host. I have deleted the app and re-installed but yet these problems persist. Whilst you’re tinkering around the edges to maximise advertising revenue please do not forget that it is the people that host Meetups that are paying (well over £200 p.a.) to host groups on your site.

Guest Count

Don’t like the fact that it now says you can have up to 99 guests. Why can’t we go back to stating how many guests allowed per member.
Have now got used to seeing it. Am in the process of telling my members to ignore it.

Bad quality

Most of the functionality requires opening a webpage, which is slow and clunky. I would have expected all features to be done natively.

Not necessary

It’s harder to type things, emojis don’t automatically get suggested and if I leave the page to do research or get a weblink I lose my progress. This would be good if you could save drafts that other organisers on the same group could then access.

Buggy

I don’t understand the need for a separate app. It’s not cleaner and is in fact quite buggy. The normal meetup app had all I needed. As a user myself I find it very annoying having to switch between the two. I can’t discard changes to an event series. I don’t understand the restriction to change the communication tool for an upcoming event given there is no communication on the event. I have a ‘thousand’ event chats named the same thing. Most of them empty.

Very glitchy at present

The app used to work ok but it’s stalling frequently now. I’m also disappointed to see Meetup applying biking fees in addition to organiser subscriptions. Not happy that our group are essentially being charged twice for a service. The lack of communication made this even worse!

App is ok.

I find the app a bit difficult to use. And sometimes I get notifications about events I’ve organized in the regular app but not this app.
Wish it was possible for the payment to be via PayPal or direct from member instead of one or the other. I guess that’s not really the apps fault though. Not sure where to give that feedback.

Things I don’t Like about Meet-up that needs to be changed

I am an organiser on meet-up and I am thinking of deleting my account.
I don’t like the layout of the page and whenever I scroll through future events to edit them then go back I end up back at the beginning of my list of events and not where I left …if that makes sense. Also why is the subscription so expensive?
Why can’t I view the ratings ?
Sometimes I don’t to cancel an event that’s running for a year every week but only for a few weeks and there isn’t an option to do that. Why? Also sometimes I would like to delete an event but save it to upload next time. Again DOESNT give you the option to do that. I will be cancelling my subscription at the end of the month. Thanks

Nice layout but typing is impossible

Entering predicted words doesn’t register; it messes everything up and can ruin all your writing. Apart from that, it’s not bad.

Pretty easy to use and like the categories

The app is pretty easy to use. I like the fact that it has different categories of information to fill in so that I won’t forget anything. The only issue I would say is that sometimes it is not so easy to type smoothly in the description category. I had to constantly checking if my spellings come out okay. Hope this can be fixed!

Can’t even type

Much worse than using the website through safari. Even the text areas bounce around and make the cursor end up somewhere else. LOVE paying so much for this substandard quality.

Editing is a nightmare

The app is soo buggy it’s unbelievable when editing an event.
Also, half the time when you make an action as an event organiser, it’s doesn’t tell you who the update will be sent to. The last thing any organiser wants is to spam group members so would be good to know who the particular message is being updated to each time.
Overall the app needs a lot of improvement. It’s taken me over 2hrs to modify an event whereas it could have been easier to call cel and start a new one but I didn’t want to send multiple notifications. Also, there’s no function to hide the location of events UNTIL attendees pay their ticket. So that has meant people turn up at my events without purchasing a ticker and I don’t operate a door service. It’s frustrating that venues cannot be hidden until payment completed on PayPal but they can only be hidden when it’s an online event or private group settings

Clealry not made with any thought

Almost every action of any significance basically takes me direct to the website so it’s a completely pointless app everything that I could do in the other app I can do in this one so there’s no dofference between them.
No messages
No way of messaging all attendees or group. No analytics.
This is just a different way of seeing all of your groups that’s all. It’s a shame because I really felt that this was needed but is not an organiser app and not worth the download.

Why?

The existing (main) app works well for organisers, so I don’t understand the need to have another app? I don’t want to be switching between two apps when I can just use the one so unfortunately I’ll be uninstalling this.
