Holding your hand

I have used Martin Lewis for many years, and most of the tips I have used over the years have mostly born fruit. He studies the markets 24/7 as we only look at them occasionally. Going privately to a financial advisor can cost you heavily.

Cashback scam

This app promotes Topcashback which is basically a scam. You make an eligible purchase and their bonus never ever gets paid. When you make a claim they refuse to process it and tell you they’ll revisit it in a month. MSE doesn’t vet the products they hawk to you. Very disappointed

so, I check the energy tips twice a year or so, and every time I am instructed to change the password "only once". Then after I do it (which is not once), I have to start from scratch, who are you, where you live, what's your bill. Mid-sold car finance

Followed all the instructions…sent the form to the finance company…….they in turn advised they had no record of an agreement………I sent them at their request copy of bank statement showing payments being made to them….their final response was no record of agreement……contacted MSE with request as next step I should take……..no reply……..thank you but if your going to provide the forms and advice, why not advise what the next step should be if finance company insist there is no agreement despite clear evidence that there is.

I love the advice from the MSE teams however trying to use this app alongside other apps to compare prices or even google what something means results in the app defaulting back to the Home page meaning that I don’t only lose my place within the article but also lose the whole article. Page refresh

App is good and generally works well, but pages refresh whenever you switch apps. This means if you're using a link in the app and switch to another app (eg to retrieve details from an email), the page refreshes completely when you reopen the MSE app. I think this is because of the passcode protection on the app. Introducing a timer before the app asks for a passcode could mitigate the issue.

They need to develop a proper iPhone App

I’m a big, big fan of MSE. The website and iPhone app are extremely useful tools and it’s often my first port of call when deciding which bank, savings, or credit card account to use, buying insurance, or making other financial decisions.

This would be a lovely resource to be able to read on an iPad, when you want portability but also want a big, wide screen. However, MSE haven’t really developed a proper iPad app. Instead, you get an app with an iPhone-sized aspect ratio within your iPad display. Far smaller organisations have managed to develop iPad apps, so it’s very disappointing that MSE haven’t managed to do so yet.

Another little annoyance that is an issue on both the iPhone and iPad apps is that you lose your place in the article you’re reading if you either lock your screen or change apps for more than a very brief period of time. You then have to search for the article and scroll down to the place you were all over again.

Used to be good

Used to be a good app with ways to save money, bank switching offers etc. now it’s mainly focused on suing companies, haggling tips and % off information. The layout is all over the place and the information itself is very difficult to read and navigate. Too many links which open to new links… Might delete the app soon

Useless and outdated

Outdated forum app, with outdated rules. I wasted my time to register to ask a question in the forum, the button to open a thread was grayed out and it demanded i confirm my email address I confirmed my email address and now the open thread button is just gone. I guess this is another useless karma based forum where you cant even ask a question without buying tokens or something like that first. Well Im not new to the game I knew you could doublecross me at any time so I used a fake email generated by apple, and i deleted it straight away. And I used a fake name. Sorry So no data collection for you from me. Also, the forum is useless. Its just hate against Revolut, obsession with the FCSC Protection (do this people know this protection only works if the bank goes bankrupt? How many banks have gone bankrupt in the UK recently?) with a tint of racism (by implying a banking license in an Eastern European country is worth less than one in a Western one, so apart from racism this is ignorance, any EU banking licence is backed up by the ECB it doesn't matter if its Romania or France). So just an outdated forum full of outdated users.

I am disabled and tend not to go online as I have a syringomyloma in my spinal canal. While working for the NHS my day care ward was shut down due to winter pressures. I was sent to Leeds General Infirmary to an acute Medical ward. Unfortunately I was attacked by a patient who shook me so hard I sustained the above injury. It took a long time before I got my diagnosis. Initially I tried to continue working. I received little or no support when I returned to my own ward. My career was cut short due to this injury.

As well as unremitting severe back pain I also get frequent migraines.

Completely inaccessible to a screen reader user

I have only been able to give this a one star because quite frankly, I haven’t been able to assess how useful it is. An awful lot of it is inaccessible to me as a VoiceOver user and therefore, in spite of the fact that MSE is there to assist Anyone with financial advice, tips and ideas, I find myself unable to benefit. I had thought there were certain standards that apps were supposed to achieve before the Apple Store allowed them on board, so this is disappointing on that level as well.

Improving credit rating

I have a few 0% credit cards with balances I am paying off the minimum amounts for. I am putting away the money needed to pay them off into a savings account. This means my credit score is poor because it looks like I have a lot of debt. Is there a way to improve my credit score or do I have to wait until they are all paid off?

A bit basic and to be honest, I expected a little bit more professionalism. Also expected it to be moved focused on long term financial stability like building good credit, creating financial goals and staying within budget - just building good habits in general, not just saving a few quid here and there.

Whole new world

Have been using this app for a while now.

Since using it and taking on board the information to hand, it has opened a “whole new word” of financial independence.

The new AI (Chat GBT) tool is an act of genius.

Great app - now even better.

It’s not often I review apps, but when I went into this app and discovered it’s new AI - Chat GBT variant - feature I couldn’t help but put a review. Great app but…

This is a great app giving great advice on many things such as energy bills and savings accounts… however don’t waste your time emailing in about your money saving experiences, they just ignore you and don’t acknowledge you what so ever, now I don’t bother. If MSE saved you a million pounds over the year and you wrote an email to them explaining how great they’ve been they’d still ignore you.

Landscape view?

The app is good, but missing a trick without a landscape view. The text is very small on a cell phone and would benefit from the ability to turn the phone into landscape, increasing the size of the text -without having to pinch and scroll left to right.

Bugged for me

I would love to use this - big fan of the site. Unfortunately every time I try to load the home page - or any page - I get a cloudflare “checking the security” of your connection screen, which then opens a browser window that is blank and does nothing. Back to the app, same problem on loop.

So I can’t see any content and the app is useless to me. Would love to re-review if this is fixed.

Login pain

Every single time I’ve ever used credit club I have to reset my login. I was excited to see an app merging MSE with credit club. Same thing happening. Asks me to reset because already registered. So I do. Then I can get into MSE app but not credit club. Useless.

Could be great if it worked

Avid MSE user here, love the website. But I can’t use the app to it’s full potential as I am not getting my email verification for the credit club. I have tried pretty much every day for a month now and have never received said email. I have googled this and it is a known issue (going off forum posts) but they don’t seem to care. I have also sent a few emails to customer services and again, have never got a response. My emails work fine for everyone else so why not MSE?

Edit: developer got back to me asking to email them. 2 emails later still no response. What a joke! Review downgraded to 2 stars.

Very Grateful

I am so grateful to Martin Lewis and his team at MSE. They take the stress out of finding the most economical deals which saves consumers a lot of time and money. I value the opinions shared with the consumers and know they are doing their best to help people be financially savvy with their daily bills.

I only have praise and glad I now have signed up for the MSE App. On my first read I have already picked up a good tip for a sim mobile renewal.

Nice, but notifications really bug me

Nice app version of one of the best ever websites. Martin Lewis should be knighted.

However, the lack of in-app control for notifications really annoys me. I already subscribe to the weekly MSE email, so don’t need the weekly app notification. I have to turn that off in iOS settings, therefore blocking any other type of notification the app might offer.

Use friendly

My first time using the app instead of the website and it worked perfectly and gave me the information I needed. I've used the website and had emailed from the service for a few years now and always been very helpful.

Just got the App

After years of following Martin, I finally got the App.

I did a trial run of using it to help a friend find a Travel Credit Card. I found cards for almost all circumstances but couldn’t find what I wanted.

Eventually, when I started to complete the ‘checker’ I found the drop down menu with it listed. Then almost at the end of completing the checker, I found a link to get more information about Travel Cards.

This may be a shortcoming that isn’t obvious.

I look forward to using the App and getting more familiar with it.

Keep up helping us to save, particularly for over 65’s like me. Thanks for all the great support.

Always our go to whenever we need to find out about savings, bills and really helpful tips to save us money. Especially as we are older and less technical than the younger generation we find getting the correct information much harder.

Long overdue. Apps work so much better than a browser on a mobile platform.

Note, you have to re register as your existing login won’t be recognised. Not a big one but should be pointed out on the login/register page.

5* for now, let’s see after more use.
