Useless kit

In no way represents cost of energy usage as the IHD is not correctly calibrated by the supplier as the device uses an out of date tariff.

Good App

This is a great app! The reason for four star is that it doesn’t show live data!
Would be great if you could link your current smart meter rather than having to buy there’s.
Also, you have to manually enter your rate, would be nice if there was an option of what rate from what energy company.

Why on the great green Earth do they make us press the + button individually for each raffle ticket? Why can’t we hold it down or type in a number, or press a “use all tickets” button?? What do they gain by giving us repetitive strain injuries? 🙄

App worked for 17 days then stopped. Support hasn’t fixed it.

Lots of to and fro between me and customer support. It worked for 17 days and then stopped and they couldn’t get it to work again. I gave up and removed app.

Connectivity

I am a little frustrated that, even with good WI-FI throughout the house, the limit in the distance I have to place the Bud from the meter means it is not in the ideal place for us.

Almost fantastic…

This is a great app. The only criticism with it is it doesn’t take to existing smart meters that are manufactured by themselves but given to you by your energy company. You have to buy their own branded version for it to work. However it does link to your energy supplier and takes a day to get the data so it’s still good. Please enable weekly and monthly feature for both electric and gas separately instead of only daily readings for this. And then it will be a five star. And please allow it to work directly from your own smart meters. Buying a new electronic device that’s absolutely identical to your previous fully working device but just worth a firmware update is environmentally irresponsible. Appreciate you need to make money but you could have a small subscription based pro version of your app to make money from it… £5 to £10 a year probably would work.

Meter Change and New Ivie

Had to have a dual meter installed to cater for Solar and batteries. In doing so the Ivie bud failed to connect to the new meter. Contacted the Ivie team and they sent a new Ivie Bud in the post immediately. Connected it without any issue and I’m up and running again with daily reads.
Pity I lost all my previous data for over a year and having spent monstrous amounts on electricity until I changed to Solar, I was disappointed to lose all the the data and points I had amassed. Lesson, is to buy raffle tickets on the app at regular intervals 😩
Ivie to their credit added 10 tokens as a goodwill gesture.
They provided solid help throughout the process and my only very small gripe is that I only new them as the Ivie Team. Would have been better to have had a name but I suppose I’m old school.

Useful app for tracking our usage

Very helpful in helping us keep track of our usage, especially with the ivie Bud linked I’m able to track our live data in real time.

Great idea

But execution could be better.
For a start the application does not allow you to see separate monthly costs for each fuel. You have this option once you click on a particular day. But if you would like to see your monthly usage and cost of the particular fuel, you would have to do a lot of clicking and maths.
Then the expected usage for each day is totally unrealistic. The application expects a family of 3 to use less than 5, sometimes less than 2.5 kWh of gas per day. This would basically mean that we would have to shower in cold water. Forget about baths or washing your dishes in hot water. During the winter it was easier to cut down as there was something to cut from.
So yeah, I have moved to applications that show me the usage of particular fuels without unrealistic goals. We are low users comparing to the average UK household but we still want to live fairly normal life.

Discrepancy between app and e0n next

The ivie app has my usage at only 1/3 of what my energy supplier eon-next says that I’m using . Not sure where the “expected”value is coming from as my May expected was £197 vs an actual of £67….if only that was true!

Great App

I get my smart meter data for yesterday usually by 8:30 today in the App. A lot better than my supplier who cannot show my data for the 2 previous days. App helps with reducing our energy use. Recommend

Very Useful

This is a brilliant app that gives great insight into historical energy usage.
If like me, your In Home Display (IHD) doesn’t store historical information and your energy provider hasn’t developed user friendly access to this information, try this app.

Very handy

I am still waiting for a smart meter to be supplied by my electric supplier so this is very handy. I’m reluctant to buy a bud as I believe it’s just like a smart meter (could be wrong). Easy to use but annoying that it takes almost a full day to have the info for the previous day but maybe it’s not possible to do quicker for some reason. At the end of the day I would think it’s not possible for me to use any less as I’ve cut back as much as possible already.

Great app for monitoring and saving cost of your power consumption

I installed ivie app together with new smart meter from same company. I just need to replace meter but when I started using app I was really impressed. Last year got rid off my oil burner and heating is electric. Ivie app helped me understand where I use the most and give me a lot of tips to save power. Highly recommend

Inaccurate information

I started out thinking the Ivie app gave good information but now I’m beginning to wonder. Last month it said I used £200+ on hot water and around £40 on heating. The other way round would have been more likely. It also says I used £40 a month on refrigeration from December to February but for March it was £58. I’m seriously trying to reduce my energy consumption but this app is frustrating rather than helping.

An app that doesn’t save you money

Such a bad app. Crazy to think that this service is recommended by E-on yet I’ve not had a complete monthly report on energy usage since November. Worse is that E-on recommended the IVIE Bud device so you think that this app could pull the data through from the device to fill in any of the missing data that the app itself couldn’t record - sounds simple to me when you have that hardware + app combo. Lastly, bought the device based off of E-on recommendation yet both companies can’t work together and rather blame each other for the reasons why this app can’t do what it actually sets out to do - both companies play the blame game and send you on a merry go round to each customer support.
Nothing but a waste - doesn’t accurately detail energy use but there smart huh device does but can’t see the historical data from it.

App is a non-starter

Extremely disappointed. Downloaded the app and followed all the instructions to hook it up to my smart meter but even after several weeks there is no data is pulling through to the app. Contacted Ivie customer services for help and did not receive a reply. Totally pointless!

Doesn’t work

Was looking forward to being able to view and better understand my energy use, but this app is as useful as a chocolate fire guard. Live usage always has an error ‘we’re having trouble getting your live data’ and usage calendar says that the energy data isn’t available just yet. Have sent a bug report but I’m told everything is set up properly.

Great app

Had trouble with my gas & elect provider not being able to show me my gas usage although they could see it! No help for two years. Stumbled across this app, within a day all the information I could want in a clear, concise app. Not got the bud, but loving the app. Very useful.

Great free app to track energy use and spend.

Gives actual vs expected and also insights into which uses of energy are significant and/or changing. Real data down to hour by hour collected from smart meters. Suggestions for energy saving and chance to win raffle prizes

It’s ok

Needs updating. Doesn’t allow for dual electricity rates or return to grid for solar. More and more users will have dual electricity rates and the demand for solar is increasing. It would be nice to see the developers update this otherwise it’s quite a basic tool.

Unbelievably poor

Unbelievably poor. Fails to show readings. Advised internet connection too weak for the IHD despite all other devices working fine and having several boosters throughout property. Later advised IHD too far from the meter, despite being only the other side of the wall housing it. Appears unless you live in a house with your router right next to you electric meter, you may as well not bother.

Rubbish

I was told to purchase this because my other display was not connecting properly. I installed it no problem but the device doesn’t link to the app with it only recording my electricity and not my gas although both at times are displayed on the Bud. What a rip off

Excellent app and product…

The Ivie app on it’s own is good; a bit like a Loop Energy “lite” app. In other words it could do with expanding on the standalone features a little - for example focusing on savings that could be made through home micro-generation. I love the rewards system, through.
When coupled with the Ivie Bud device, though… this odd where it comes into its own. You get a wealth of day and analysis. Very useful for saving energy and informing on any future decisions around which tariffs to go for once the energy market has settled back down.
One thing I would ask, though, is: “Where’s the iPad app?” Could make use of the extra screen estate to display flashy graphs etc…

App looked initially really good. But when I started using it. It was a requiring to much personal info and required an account to be set up. Let’s face it. All I want the app to do is let me know how much my energy is costing me without me having to provide my personal info.

Doesn’t Work

I have had this app for a while now in conjunction with my ivie bud. The app will not show live usage. When I contact support they inform me that the ivie bud has poor Wi-Fi. It is now right next to my Wi-Fi router, which initially when I reconnected was full signal now it is back to fluctuating between 2 and 3 bars. The problem may in fact be with ivie bud and not the app, but still the problem is there.
Support take extremely long to get in touch and when they do it is just to state my poor Wi-Fi. I do not actually have poor Wi-Fi. I have disconnected every other Wi-Fi connection and tried different locations.

No use if you have more than one rate for electric

You have download the app and start the setup before you find out that if you have two or more rates (such as an off peak economy 7 rate) then the app will not support this.
Pity they don’t mention this in the description and save potential users time and bandwidth…

Saved me a fortune

Having never had an IHD before and my supplier refusing. Getting the Bud from Ivie has saved me so much because I can now see my live usage on my phone when I’m out of the house. A quick text to the kids to unplug stuff and I can see it drop!! Absolute winner in my eyes

Love this app

I’ve used a few different energy apps now and this is by far my favourite. I do have the bud IHD as well and they work brilliantly together but even the app on its own is far superior to others I’ve used. The app alone is free, but I’d definitely recommend buying the bud display for your home too. The app shows live data so it’s enabled me to go from room to room unplugging things and see the drops in live usage to see my power hungry appliances, based on that I’ve replaced my old chest freezer that was really power hungry with a new very efficient one. Thanks ivie.

Unimpressed so far

So as a dual fuel householder, just seeing the electricity is not particularly helpful. Added to which no history. The good news is the ivie bud is working fine but even though I am allegedly connected to it I am still “awaiting data”. I’ve sent 2 bug reports so far, will send one every day until support fixes this and will update then

It’s ok

I’ve had this app just over a month. It’s still not giving me monthly insights. The device itself doesn’t add on the standing charges (my old one did) but the app does add them on.
Update: I now have the monthly insights. Quite interesting, if it’s accurate.

App Won’t Open As Server Issues

I bought a Ivie Bud for £55 (over priced really) purely so we could monitor our usage from our phones via the app.
However, every time you try and open the app you get this message:-
Oops !
We’re having a bit of trouble connecting to our servers.
I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app 10 times now and still no change. There are no issues with our internet.
I’ve email Ivie direct and the Parent company weeks ago and still nothing.
The support for this product is sadly shocking.
This is the first negative review I’ve ever written - all I want is for it to work and be fit for purpose is that too much to ask. :((((
Looking forward to hearing from their developers with a solution asap!!!
I would hold off buying until they sort this issue out

The activity breakdown is great to see where you’re using the most energy. If you’re guilty of leaving things on standby — it’ll tell you 😬. Can’t wait for it to get better as more of my data comes on!

Needs more work on app

Having purchased the monitor that works very well no problems, I downloaded the app to monitor energy use etc on the go but it’s having difficulty connecting to the bud and the smart meters, seems very complicated to set up anyway, I thought the app would connect automatically to the ivie bud monitor sadly not so doesn’t seem much point downloading the app until problems are solved
Since this review I have had a response from the developer and the issue was resolved and now is working fine thank you

Good but won’t link to ivie bud

App seems useful but there are a couple of flaws. It will just not link to my ivie bud both my phone and bud are on the same Wi-Fi network but no joy. Just hangs with no messages.
Second issue is lack of support for time of use tarrifs which means the figures are incorrect for my usage.

Nothing special

App shows usage since starting with the product. That’s about it for useful information.
App seems to be stuck trying on “Smart meter linked” dialogue and offering demo mode when actual data is coming through. Not syncing any historic data.
All the raffle and gag features are a waste of time.
Missing:
- Current usage (thing I was expecting most so I can check remotely what the house load is)
- Ability to fine tune normal use (I have a regular base load in kW, the rooms and house size aren’t relevant for everyone)

Evie app not working

I downloaded this a few weeks ago but it just keeps telling me it’s having trouble accessing my smart meter data - offers no advice on why this may be or whether it will ever resolve itself 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gas and electric ?

Apparently this app won’t work as we’ve only got an electric smart meter and it states you need electric and gas smart metres. We don’t have gas to the property as we are all electric. Died this mean the app will never work for us?
