Great fun
It’s added a new dimension to my collecting and is really useful. You have to be aware of it’s limitations, mainly being that if it doesn’t recognise a coin, it will guess, which at times has caused heart palpitations, it sometimes misreads even the most obvious dates and does not recognise some coins which it obviously should, modern coins, which are in excellent condition, which I would assume is a human error. It could also do to be updated as it is obviously massively undervaluing the melt price of silver coins which have increased in value by over 60 % in the last few weeks, surely a small bit of programming and the press of a button would correct this in minutes and properly value all silver coins.

Any time I edit the info of a coin it re adds the value of the coin to the total value of my collection rather than updating it. I edited a load of info about my coins yesterday and my coin collection doubled in value but none of my individual coins value changed

Really poor recognition - recognising the same coin as multiple different coins and others completely wrong. Cancelled app with free 7 day trial and still got charged £24.99. Apple said they refused refund requests and still awaiting refund and response from them. Do Not Use ….

Unreliable identification
It’s misleading that this app is advertised as free when in fact you have to have a paid subscription after the trial period. It’s also a bit hit and miss with coin identification. It sometimes gets it right, but managed to identify a 1989 UK half-sovereign as a 1600 Bohemian thaler and a James I shilling as a sixpence, in spite of “XII” being clearly visible and legible on the coin. It also frequently misreads dates. I’ve cancelled the subscription before I had to pay.

Best app for coin ID
Edit: New UI had quite a few teething problems but developers have been very responsive and receptive to feedback and have been rapidly fixing and improving things which is reassuring.
Seemingly the best out there for identifying coins (although struggles with non-milled and those not in Latin script as well as more ancient coins such as Roman) but the cataloguing features are a little more basic or limited in scope which I'm hoping will improve over time. It also lacks support for UK official sets (or any beyond US and Euro one) which is an unfortunate limitation. Valuations can be useful but sometimes wildly unrealistic or missing altogether and you should definitely verify against multiple sources.
Support has been much improved with a great willingness to engage with feedback and also to look at adding missing items to their database.

Is Ok For General Listings
This is an ok app for storing information on coins you own. Most of my collection are all proofs but most are being found to be normal coins which does not give the correct value. I have the paperwork to prove what they are but no way to correct it in the app. Also no way to add coins that aren’t listed but again paperwork is present. I got this app for the sake of insuring my coins at correct value but have been left very disappointed with it.

Coin snap is really good (especially for Coin collectors like me)! You can add coins to your collection and the app even shows you how many coins you’ve got in one country and more! Pretty good, but has it’s shortcomings
My main gripe is with two things.
Firstly, the preset collections are mostly just US and EU sets, not even any sets from the UK.
Secondly, most coins from 2024 are missing, I do hope this is rectified by 2025.
And finally, my largest gripe is due to on how it classifies countries; that being that it just lumps them under an existing modern country, even if the capital was different, furthermore, the historic countries it does declare separate (mostly British East Africa in my experiences) do not appear on the map view at all, and lack a flag. The Dutch Antilles do appear on the map view, but for some reason have their pointer set to London. If these problems could be fixed, then I would provide a perfect review, despite the price tracking problems other reviewers have mentioned.

I downloaded what I thought was a free app to then find you are automatically forced to take out a subscription unless you remember to cancel this beforehand! CoinSnap is difficult to cancel b4 expiry of free trial
I am struggling to find a way of cancelling the free trial on day 4 of the 7 day trial. It does not appear on ‘subscriptions’ on my Apple devices so can’t be cancelled. It does show up under apps purchased but there is no cancel method. Is this an another Apple method of taking a cut from unauthorised subscriptions? If it is then I will wean myself off my Mac, iPhone, iPad and Watch to stop feeding the beast.

Best Coin identification system I have used
Quick and efficient coin identification system I have used, glad I found it, easy and simple to use, and it values your coins and grade’s them to, if you are not happy with the grade given you have the ability to adjust it manually yourself, I have only done this twice myself as they are often spot on. You can place your coin selections in separate set numbers, to date I have over 150 sets, with 4494 coins from 149 nations, but many more to list, it gives you a individual as well as a total value of your coins, the staff are very quick to respond to problems or suggestions that you bring to their attention, this is done on line and e Mail responses. I would recommend you go for the Premium service, it’s worth it, please note the values are in dollars, perhaps in future it could be in the denomination of your own country, I sincerely hope that many coin collectors give this business Coin Snap a try, I did and it has become a joy again collecting, just by having my coins on a database makes it complete.

Good but not what I need
I’ve got a lot of coins and Im basically just trying to sort them and value them roughly in one place , the scanning is working on most coins but the problem I’m getting is I can’t scan a coin and then select how many of that individual coin I have , I’ve got about 3000 different coins and I don’t want to scan every single one on to this app one by one when I feel like I should be able to for example scan 1 Half Crown 1949 and select x60 if that’s how many I have. Other than that I can see it’s a fairly good app but I won’t be using it as that missing feature is is a must for me , thanks.

Good to identify coins, but the grading is wrong on most coins. I put many of my collection of coins on this app and only one came back with a value. Luckily there is a 7 day free trial, otherwise, not worth spending money on, as they app is very far off from what you would expect to be able to value your coins. Incorrect pricing.
The app is brilliant for identifying coins. However the apps pricing of coins is incorrect and needs working on. This app may be misleading to some because, for someone who is a beginner coin collector, or found a coin e.g, may see that the app has identified the coin correctly, and could assume the pricing of the coin is correct as-well. I’ve been collecting coins for a long time. I have a lot of coins: fine silver,fine gold,cupric nickel,copper plated steel. Most of my coins I used with the app showed incorrect pricing and some way bellow the coins value. However, I think this app has great potential and is a great idea. The app just needs more work and updating.

The idea is there but it fails
I have a wide variety of Full Sovereigns and 1oz Silver coins, the App was not able to identify them correctly unless, it was the American Eagle or the UK Britannia, and even then got the year incorrect and the value way below the current market price. The App also does not have an option to just add your own coins with the correct info to help improve the data searches. There is no option for Proof coins either? Very disappointing, and to pay £20 a year for it??? I think that is rather steep.

Really good app, gets the id’s right 9 times out of ten, but needs an option to send remarks to the owners.. as one coin I have found only comes back as the wrong uk island..
