Was great but found a bug and no response

I loved this game and got quite hooked on it. Unfortunately I’ve found a bug whereby it’s stuck on the “Omnes Scientes” section. Normally 5 levels per section - I’m on level 20! I’ve reported this, but no response.

Rip Off

I paid for this game to avoid ads, however in order to progress you either have to buy coins or watch an ad from which you cannot exit. Avoid this hopeless game

I do like this game, however, they need to fact check more. Some of the answers are dubious or outright wrong and it’s frustrating not to be able to feed back when there are errors. Less ads or quicker ones would be an improvement. I do try to do it daily.

I love this game

I’ve played this for many years now. It’s very challenging. I can sometimes take ages googling things to find the 4 matches but it’s always educating.

I like the 5 point hint as that helps me a lot. Today I guessed an answer: Characters in Popeye. I’m quite good at guessing. Thank you for many hours of fun and education.

Changes have spoilt the game!

This is the best connect word game I’ve found. I’ve been playing it for years and all that time would have given it 5*. I’ve enjoyed building up a good streak and looked forward to the daily challenge. However, last week it all changed. In the past, on the daily challenge, once you’d solved the third row, the fourth row would resolve itself and you would score a win for that day, thus increasing your streak. Now, suddenly, you have to wait till the next day when you have to watch an ad to see the answer! And I don’t even know how to find yesterdays answer! There was not even an announcement to explain the changes. I’ve given it 3* as the game itself is good and runs smoothly. I shall not be playing again.

** Edit: I have now reinstated the 5*! The game seems now to have reverted to the original format. Thank you to the developers for listening and responding. I’m enjoying the game once more and would recommend it highly.

Not yet ready for public release

In theory it’s a nice game apart from how even with audio off it demands control of audio so you can’t play while eg listening to a podcast. In practice the coding isn’t finished so upon trying to skip a later or use your credit to get an extra life it crashes and will only reboot to the same broken level screen.

Riveting

Addictive and fascinating and gets progressively more difficult but is so enjoyable I can’t put it down. I had to force myself to make the dinner and I was really hungry !!!!!

Have enjoyed playing the game but several times have found my answers to be incorrect, when they were either right or certainly acceptable. Eg pineapple, plumbing, spear and grapple - all contain the names of a fruit, but having selected these, i was wrong and another word with a fruit in it was deemed right. Another example. Mamba, Betty, Power, King, Magic,Krait, Plague - can all be preceded by the word “ black”. But try and get the right combination without having to watch a stupid advert over and over again. So have given up playing it.

This is game is very good I enjoy it gets the brain thinking. The only problem I have lost all three lives and ran out of gold coins and it won’t let me watch an advert to gain an extra life, so I’m just and can’t go forward.

Good but very Anglo centric

This is a good puzzle but will be easier if you are English or knowledgeable about English culture. It has various very English word links such as cricket, soccer and television. I am Scottish so found this frustrating at times. However, I do enjoy using it since possibly teaches me more about a neighbouring country.

If you have any sight issues you will not be able to see anything, even with the zoom feature, as you cannot click on tiles until you zoom back out. Quite a pointless feature. Could be a promising game, but sorely lacks forethought.

I love the game, but to me one drawback: as soon as the grid is completed the page is lost and there is not much time to study it and learn from your mistakes, especially the last line, which you may not have known. Deleted within five minutes

Was enjoying this game. Was appreciating it was something a little different. However, five games in, I guessed wrongly twice on the last two lines. Immediately, they greyed out and I was given the choice of watching an ad to get 1 life or buy 20 coins. I didn’t want to do either. I wanted to try again. I would probably have gotten it correct on the 3rd try. But there was no option for that. Ridiculously irritating.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now and have to say I love Connect the Words. It helps me to relax and keeps my brain sharp. It’s a great way to escape from the stresses of daily life with something that isn’t too mindless.

Great game especially for Brits

I only downloaded this game today and love it already. I'm a great fan of Only Connect and this game is like the connecting wall except much easier. Many of the subjects are UK orientated, e.g. cricket, counties, TV programmes. So far ( and I'm only up to level 5, there being 8 questions in each level) I've only failed on2 grids both of which concerned films about which I don't know much-

Sure, there are ads but they aren't that intrusive as most can be cut short. You can pay to remove them but I wouldn't bother.

Has started opening safari during daily challenge

This game was good, but lately it has started opening up safari midway through the daily challenge and loading the webpage for Morrisons supermarket…

I don’t mind ads in games - developers have to make money after all, but randomly opening my browser, and trying to load an unwanted webpage without any preceding ad is unacceptable.

It’s a shame, as I have completed nearly 500 levels, but this game will now be deleted.

There is a good variety of word groups here, although some are American terms we don’t use in the UK, or people/ sport terms I’m unfamiliar with in our country. The link clue is a particularly helpful feature if you get really stuck.

Connect the words

Prefer this in some ways to Connections as it’s not so Americanised. Don’t like the number categories prefer words. I would like the chance to work out the last category instead of it telling you right away. Also I lets you choose the same words rather than telling you you’ve already guessed and giving you another chance.

Not entirely sure yet

There seems to be a bug where you select 4 squares and it tells you you're wrong. You take a hint on another square which gives you a different 4 and the 4 you originally chose (that was wrong) are now the only 4 left and suddenly they are grouped together. Seems fixed to get you to use up your points. Will delete if it carries on.

I’ve enjoyed playing this game, it’s refreshing to see UK based themes, but there’s way too much sport related focus, especially football! I’d like to see more of word association challenges, such as words containing other words, words with prefixes etc. rather than the heavy focus on sports/sports people.

Excellent British English word game

I’ve played a lot of these games but this is the first time I’ve found one that’s wholeheartedly British English as oppose to American English.

Theres loads of tough puzzles, just went through a Star Trek one which I’ll say really caught me wrong-footed but i managed in the end.

For me it’s the best word app out there. I love that it’s difficulty varies and though the repetition of answers is annoying I understand nothing free is perfect. The obvious next step or level difficulty is to introduce 5 or 6 rows. Also as a Brit I have a distinct advantage as so many answers relate to our country. One other idea - you could have genre specific versions ie food/sport/history/geography/science/music/film etc.

Ps to the idiots who say ads should be banned - this app is free do you think these people who create these apps work for free??? You don’t work for free so don’t ask these guys to. It is a business not a charity. You have the option of buying an ad free version. Use it. Too many entitled and ignorant people out there

Could be good

Fine as far as it goes but too simplistic and has repetitive solutions. Reached level 72 in a day. Game didn’t get any harder. Suspect this is to keep players going longer to expose them to more ads. Would happily pay for game if it evolved.

Needs some mind boggling ‘lateral’ connections to keep it interesting. Don’t expect it to stretch your mind like the tv game (which I can’t do!). Disappointed, deleted it.

Aimed at American audience. Gets boring as too repetitive.

OK to begin with so paid to have the annoying ads removed but the more games I played the more repetitive it became with too much emphasis on American NBA, anchor men in fact aimed at an American audience. Plus even though I had paid to have the ads removed I still had to watch long, boring repetitive ads for other games if I ran out of attempts. So fed up now, I have deleted the app.

A good idea poorly executed.

There is no real progression in that it does not get harder the more you play.

There is little or no crossover in the categories which make it too easy - and then you get one where there are 3 categories that are similar which is nigh on impossible.

Also the 4 categories can be totally unrelated - for example numbers, dogs, countries and colours…

Looks can be deceiving!

Sometimes it looks like that word goes with that but it’s not. So it gets you using your brain. I don’t want to get Alzheimers like my beautiful father and my husband so I am trying to train my brain. However, you could do with adding a few more lives, maybe two more. Three really isn’t enough. Otherwise a great game. Also please consider upping the age because it’s too hard for ages 4+

Fun and thought provoking, but ugh ADS!

This is a fun and clever thinking game. It tests your knowledge and skill. The down side is all the ads! Even when you buy coins you are still besieged by ads. Never ending ads. Did I mention the ads? Really, the game is good, the categories are not always straight forward as so many trivia games are. But the number of ads, even after submitting to the developer’s plea for financial support really distracts. Please, if I pay you £5 can I be rid of the ads forever?

Please could you make the font larger? I’m really struggling to read the words.

Otherwise I’m enjoying the puzzles. I’ve been looking for an online version of Only Connect’s infamously fiendish Connecting Wall for ages. Ok, so these puzzles are quite easy so far, but hopefully they will get much harder!

Needs some attention to detail

I quite enjoy this game, although as others have noted it can get a bit repetitive. But it really needs someone to take an editor’s axe to it. Qatar is not a country in North Africa. A synonym is not the same as a homonym. Spelling of the clues is not reliable - and in at least one case this was critical. I would guess, from the balance of the questions, that the setter hails from New Zealand: a slightly less parochial approach would be welcome!

Enjoying this game - I do at least four every morning just to get my mind ticking over. Some subjects are being repeated please don’t get lazy, there are a million subjects you could choose. Overall I will continue to okay so long as it keeps me interested.

Enjoyable to a point

Am I enjoying this game? Yes. However it’s limited to daily puzzle and then infinite (?) solo puzzles. The game could do with other ways of earning tokens because when you’re stuck on a tricky grid they disappear fast! I’ve taken to Google to help me on some of the trickier puzzles.

The game would also benefit if there were a competitive slant… Weekly tournaments against other players for example.

I’m not done with this game yet, but I can imagine for a lot of people there’ll be a point where they just don’t bother anymore.

Keeps the brain ticking

Really enjoy the tv show and the game is very good. The only thing is the constant repeats of connections. I now know all the Lionesses, Wales football managers and Indian cricket captains. There are so many connections out in the world with nature, cities, people, foods etc yet on level 500 it’s still going back to connections I had in the lower rounds. It’s good but getting a bit boring now if I’m honest. Glad it was a free game as I wouldn’t be happy paying for it.

Enjoyable but repetitive

I’m enjoying this game a lot. It’s like part of a game show I love to watch, though a little easier (which is good because I’m not *that* good at the TV show).

The only issue is it’s repetitive. I’m on level 65 and for the last dozen or so levels I’ve had the same themes comes up. There are so many possible themes out there, please don’t repeat them so quickly. The answers might be different or they might be the same, it depends on the theme. When they’re the same answers it’s even more frustrating, at least different answers for the same theme might not be as easy.

I’m really enjoying this game, I’m hooked already and very impressed. There are a few adverts but there not excessive and no more than you’d expect for a free game. Can be repetitive

I’m really enjoying this game. My only suggestion would be to avoid the repeat of so many answers. I have exceeded 200 games and can regularly complete the game as the connections/answers have been seen previously on a few occasions.

Entertaining

There’s a well-balanced mix of simple and hard connections. The bias is toward the UK so any non-Brits may find some of the connections tough to fathom. One thing I don’t get: there are two sets of points that can be won. Those top right are used to buy clues but what is the purpose of the points top left (designated xp)? You can’t click on them to find out and they just keep piling up without any possibility to use them.

Only Connect

Downloaded today. If you have watched Only Connect (BBC2 on Monday nights at 8pm) this is one of the rounds from that, The Wall.

Love playing it on TV and love playing it on my iPad. There are some ads to other games but not too many and a small price to pay for a good free game.

Suggestions for improvement

It would be better if we also needed to describe what the connections have in common, say for a bonus point.

It would also be better to have different levels of this game to suit different demographics of players. For example, some people have said it’s hard but I often find it too easy to solve

Awesome App But Too Small to See.

I LOVE 💜❤️ this app as I love Only Connect Connecting Wall. This app is brilliant and really clever. The only criticism I have m is that I find the font typeface and size quite small and unclear to read. It would be better if the words in a font like Arial.

Addictive

Simple format for a game but very relaxing. You can play for five minutes or sit for ages playing. Beware, it’s addictive but fun. You think it’s all simple and you’re sailing away but then you get a curve ball set of words that take a lot of thought to solve. Highly recommend it.

Scam ads

What a shame, I downloaded this today! Was really enjoying the game so paid £4.99 to remove adds. Sadly as soon as my £4.99 had been taken all I got was ads! Grrrr! Great game just very annoying. I have effectively paid £4.99 for a free game that now I have to delete!

Needs some refinement

Most of the connections are very easy with just a few more obscure links but the same connections are repeated too frequently. I’m hoping it might get more difficult as I progress through the levels. I know we have to put up with adverts unless we pay not to see them but they are quite long.

This is what I think

This game is very good and I love only connect so that’s partly why I got this game. Some of the questions are tricky but it depends on your prior knowledge. Something that I would change is selecting your age before you try a level so the servers know things and can provide questions of your time. However it is a very addictive and fun game!
