Description

Scottish Rugby is now issuing all Scotland match tickets via the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App.
As well as being an integral part of Scottish Rugby’s drive for improved sustainability, access and security, moving to a paperless ticketing system is part of our digital transformation journey to improve the supporter experience on matchdays. There is no need to print tickets or wait for tickets to arrive by post, as our tickets are delivered instantly into your Scottish Rugby Ticketing App.
Secure
Your digital tickets cannot be lost, stolen or fraudulently copied.
The app prevents ticket abuse and protects you, the supplier and fans.
Engaging
The Scottish Rugby Ticketing App connects you closer to the event with exclusive content, offers, news and extras.
Straightforward
You can use the app to transfer tickets you have bought for friends to their Scottish Rugby Ticketing App.
Here’s how it works:
Download the App
Once you have purchased your ticket(s) through the Scottish Rugby website, you and all your guests will need to download the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App.
Register with the App
The first time you use the App, you will need to register. This must mirror the registration details on your Scottish Rugby Ticketing account (Forename, Surname, Mobile Number) for you to be recognised and for tickets to be delivered to the app.
Find your tickets
When Scottish Rugby release the match tickets (usually no later than two weeks before a game) you will find your tickets in the ‘My Tickets’ section of the App. To help keep your tickets safe and secure, the QR code for each ticket will only appear around 48 hours before gates open.
Make sure your mobile is charged on the day!
On arrival at the turnstiles on the day, have your ticket ready to scan with the QR code face up and make your way through the turnstile.
One ticket per device
Apart from children or dependents, it’s one ticket per device. Therefore, everyone for whom you’ve bought tickets must also download the App so you can transfer their tickets to their devices.

Okay but could be better

I think the app is fine but it would be nice to have the app do more and be a more all round Scottish rugby app. For example it would be good to buy tickets from within the app (also would be good to be able to buy club tickets as well). I’d also like to see the ability to add my ticket to my apple wallet for easy access at the gate. I guess another handy addition would be a map of Murrayfield helping you get to seats, useful for first time visitors (could also show bars and food vans?)

Works but not user friendly

The user experience is poor. Tickets seem to arrive a few days before the game so in that sense it works, but until then the app doesn’t show a booking at all. This means uncertainty that the booking is safe for the weeks and months between booking & game

Pile of rubbish - no point downloading - data capture

I wouldn’t bother with this absolute pile of rubbish
It asks you for a whole host of demographic and sensitive (personal identifiable information) before you get to see how rubbish the App actually is:
+ Mobile number
+ Full name
+ Gender
+ DOB
+ Full postal address
+ Email address
Then it offers you poor experience from there in
It’s basically a web site within an App wrapper - and a very poorly implemented one
Everything links you out to web sites
The App navigation are web frames - probably iFrames - within an HTML wrapper - so they scroll off screen!
This is the poorest excuse for an App:
+ terrible experience
+ intrusive data capture
+ nothing of value within
Avoid; avoid; avoid
Just use the web site!

Data harvesting!

Why do they ask for so much data?? I just want to watch some rugby and I have to submit a whole load of data, even though I don’t want any of their marketing. It’s not like I can even opt out.
Nasty, controlling SRU. Is it even within GDPR? No reason given for harvesting all my data like this. Seriously angry and I haven’t even watched Finn get a red card yet!!

Technophobic user

As someone who has gone from the old printed to the plastic card and now this, I was quite worried I wouldn’t be able to use it easily. However now I’m familiar I can’t imaging the hassle of having to remember those other bits and pieces as I always have my phone. Due to distance not always able to attend with my son - it’s been our thing since he was little - and now I can transfer should he want to take a friend instead. Keep it simple and I’ll continue to be happy.

Jimmy English
Version 3.5.7

Flawed

Easy enough to use. Handy enough in your pocket. Not well thought through though. Transfer your ticket to someone and you have no record of the transfer and no proof that the ticket is yours. You have no timeout or means to retrieve it.
No clear evidence either that the SRU can protect the ticket for you.
Any chance of an upgrade?

Joke

This is trying to force me to accept all the opt-in marketing options just to register on the app. The option to continue without opting to everything in is conveniently off the bottom of the screen, so whilst I can scroll down to that, it’s not clickable.

Easy to install

The actual app was easy to install and verify account email and phone details. Took me 5 minutes. I had already ordered autumn test tickets and they appeared on the app with no issues. I appreciate that this may be a hassle for some people but that is more about SRU policy than the actual working of the app. I can only assume that the majority of customers must be satisfied as there are not a huge amount of reviews.
I have used the app again for summer/World Cup warm ups. Easy to order tickets and receive on mobile. I’ve now also easily transferred tickets to family with no problems.

Forced to use app

The app is not bad I guess but why do I have to even use the app. I was planning on leaving my mobile at home and taking a spare in case I lose it or it gets stolen at the event but you are forcing us to use the app and also collecting unnecessary personal information which is probably some kind of violation in of itself.
You’ve created a solution to a problem nobody had to begin with, congrats. Bunch of geniuses.

Eventually worked perfectly, however it took a quite a few hours to get our heads around and was more trial than following any instructions which were non existent or vague at best.

Easy to use

We have a group with the entire family and have 4 Scotland season passes and we all decided we should get this app as it would be hassle-free and no worry to pick up the passes. Downloaded it and only had to put my details in order to create an account where the season pass is safe. Very easy to use and instantly shown up in the tickets section. Way better than having to drive to pick up them from my grandad. Recommend it over than the physical ones.

Worked a treat. Got it set up in less than a minute.

With ticketing moving into the digital age, this was bound to happen. I received my email from the SRU and followed the link to download the app. Filled out a few fields, got the SMS confirmation followed by the email confirmation and BOOM, there’s my season pass.

2023-07-15

Unacceptable

We bought 5 tickets and now find we have to download this app to 5 separate devices. If that wasn’t bad and inconvenient enough, to register the app, you are requested to provide personal information including date of birth and post code.
I challenge the SRU to explain the valid business reason for needing this information, and also to confirm that they are fully compliant with data protection regulations.
Very poorly thought through, and very poorly executed.

Buying on line tickets

Rubbish and over complicated system which ultimately took my money (surprise!! That was easy) but then prevents getting ticket (No surprise. That was not!). It assumes everyone is a computer and techie wizard. They are not. At 75 yrs I am definitely NOT.
Waste of time.
Ohhh and I still dont have my paid for ticket for Silver Saturday or access to it.
Thanks for nothing SRU.

Awful, annoying, incessant

Apparently this is to make ticketing convenient. However I’ve repeatedly received notifications and emails urging me to transfer tickets because I have more than one ticket. Having traded in some of my personal data for this app I’ll delete it as soon as is convenient. I feel like I’ve lost any final privacy because the app tries to badger you about tickets constantly. Maybe the developer could just get the app to cool its beans and trust that the consumer knows what they’re doing.

Updated Comment

Re negative responses, the App works very well and it’s introduction in the Autumn Tests did not produce delays or predicted carnage. Obviously, there are issues for some which can be readily addressed by a call to SRU but for reasons given below, it is a major improvement. I’m sure none of the naysayers are involved in commercial ticket resale but a major benefit for SRU and fans is improved visibility on ticket user identity.
From SRU website, for those who missed it:
Why has Scottish Rugby introduced it?
As well as being an integral part of Scottish Rugby’s drive for improved sustainability, access and security, moving to a paperless ticketing system is part of our digital transformation journey to improve the supporter experience on matchdays. This is the next step on our digital transformation journey, which has already seen the launch of the new Virtual Venue facility to help you buy your Scotland tickets on our Scottish Rugby Online Ticketing website.
Our mobile tickets are fan friendly and secure. Fans can manage their tickets digitally and remain assured that all tickets within the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App are authentic and secure.

Absolutely rubbish

The App is unusable. If you have any other way of accepting / transferring tickets do it.
Do not forward tickets to friends or family unless this useless app has download or the ticket will be lost on no man’s land.
The app needs to authenticate your phone and email address. Numerous attempts have been made for the authentication code to phone wouldn’t accept the number.. The app would not send an authentication email to address supplied, so no way of logging on to accept ticket.
Several phone calls to the ticketing and still no joy.
If you have any other way for tickets .. use it!!

Marketing Control

Not enough options for marketing preferences. All or nothing if you want marketing ie. Can’t opt for just one type of media. If you opt in, you opt in to email AND SMS AND post.
Also, you have to give access to ALL your contacts if you want to share tickets.

2022-11-27

Needlessly invasive

I don’t mind using an app for tickets, but this app seems to be needlessly invasive.
I could just about understand having to give my address to register. However, in order to transfer a ticket to me, my partner had to grant access to all contacts. That seems over the top, and smacks of data harvesting.

Unnecessary and discriminatory

Totally ridiculous to only allow tickets to be held on an app. Discriminatory against people who don’t have suitable technology and clearly an excuse to harvest data.

Simply madness.

I genuinely didn’t believe my brother when he told me I’d need to download an app to get my ticket, assumed a screenshot would suffice like with every other digital ticket I’ve used.
Who thought this was a good idea? Not going to list all the drawbacks as they are completely obvious to anyone who gives it a moment’s thought.
Quite simply an absolute shambles.

Chaos at the Turnstiles

A prediction - there will be chaos at the Turnstiles for the opening game v Australia.
No WiFi and very limited phone connection at Murrayfield means that if you haven’t transferred your tickets to friends and family before you get to the stadium, then you’re snookered.
In this day and age, people still forget to take their phones out with them, lose them, or let them go flat. So they won’t get in.
And it’s discriminatory against people that don’t have a smartphone, the disabled, or those that don’t want the SRU having their data.
Trust me - there will be chaos on October 28th.

Total nightmare

Obviously designed to put people off going. Clunky and slow to load. Only see one ticket. Ticket office closed so need to wait till someone can fix it. Beats me why they decide to make life as difficult as possible when it used to be so easy. I suppose it at least gives developers a laugh.

2022-10-17

Huge inconvenience!!!

It is irrelevant if the app works or not. I have several debenture tickets and take family and friends to several matches ie I spend a lot of money at Murrayfield. The requirement for all of them to download the app, register and then get a ticket from me is a massive and time consuming issue for them especially my older friends or relatives. At least one doesn’t have a modern mobile phone! It’s as if the SRU are trying to stop people from going! Terrible judgement by someone!
Wagatasty
2022-10-16

Needless

Unlike some I haven’t had issues confirming my account, but this doesn’t change the basic question of why this is necessary? There’s no explanation from the SRU about why this app is useful or needed, and so it just seems like another hoop to jump through which is disproportionately difficult for folk without tech savvy or sufficiently modern phones. Why make it harder to attend games with no given reason?
AJMorrice

2022-10-11

Why?

What on earth were they thinking? This will be a disaster come match day with 1000s of people no doubt won’t have downloaded or registered on the app or have trouble with their phones.
Stewie2801

Installed and registered OK

I didn’t have high hopes but it has installed fine and took me through the verification process for my phone and email. Let’s see how it manages tickets. I’m defo not giving it access to my contacts, which it requested to transfer tickets, so let’s see what the alternative is once my autumn international tickets are allocated.
I did reply to the email advising about the app and asked what happens if I don’t have a smart phone. The SRU cannot force its use. That would be highly discriminatory.
