Description

This program helps you improve your knowledge of Old Church Slavonic, the earliest attested Slavic language, through practice-driven memorisation.
Wherever you have your phone and a free moment, it offers a continuous multiple-choice test on Old Church Slavonic vocabulary and grammar. Each answer you give is immediately confirmed or corrected, and your knowledge is reinforced by repetition.
• Vocabulary: 165 levels, each testing the meanings of ten Old Church Slavonic words, arranged roughly by their frequency in the Marianus Gospel codex. Interspersed among these are cumulative levels reviewing what has been learned earlier (giving a total of 187 levels).
• Nouns: Tests your ability to parse and to decline a wide range of Old Church Slavonic nouns.
• Adjectives: Tests your ability to recognise and decline Old Church Slavonic adjectives.
• Verbs: Tests your ability to parse and to conjugate a range of representative Old Church Slavonic verbs.
A further Reference module allows you to review the word-list and paradigms. Old Church Slavonic words can be presented in either Cyrillic or Glagolitic script at your choice.

Useful and intuitive

Really recommend this for anyone who needs wants to read Slavonic texts. It’s a very simple layout but really easy to use and more fun than a textbook - I recognise words and grammatical forms more quickly having used the app, as it works through a quiz format, but there’s a reference section too if you get stumped. Such a handy tool for students.
